-- Briefing Room, 21 minutes later -- "You're late," Commodore ONE said to <anyone want to volunteer? > as he/she scurried through the doors and sat down in the only remaining chair, muttering "profuse apologies." ONE stood from his seat at the head of the table and walked over to the main console on the wall. He tapped a few buttons and the screen displayed a giant ringed planet. It reminded some of Saturn, but only because that was the only ringed planet they were familiar with. "This is P32-4J, a Class J planet with, as you can see, a vast system of rings. There are three small rocky satellites in relatively eccentric orbits. P32-4J has been of some interest to Starfleet because it may have minerals worth mining in those rings and satellites. We will go and investigate this possibility.
"There is also a nearby planet, P32-3H, a much smaller planet, Class-H. It appears to be at least slightly habitable, and while we are in the area, we will send an away team to explore this planet as well.
"Any questions?"After the instructors and cadets gathered there had their questions answered, Commodore ONE dismissed them to their duties. "We leave spacedock in exactly one hour, not a second longer."OFF: Alright boys and girls, here we go... have fun with it, and don't be afraid to ask questions, lots of questions. Happy Simming!!

Sorry for my absence on the other thread. Real Life has been kind of killing me. Anyway, I'm back, big a slife and twice as ugly, so let's get on with it shall we......
When Commodore One dismissed the crew, James headed towards the Bridge. There was still some work to do and he wanted it done before tehy left spacedock. Cadet Janeway approached him. "Sir, what can I do?" James smiled at her. He liked eager Cadets. "Well, let's get to the Bridge. There are still some diagnostics we have to run and we'll have to coordinate with Engineering too. There are still some sensor glitches from our last mission and I don't like having sensor ghosts walking around on the ship."
They reached the Bridge where TJ was already monitoring the progress of several technicians. "Hey Commander," James greeted him eagerly, "I didn't catch you at the briefing, you were out before I was." TJ smiled his familiar smile. "Yep, lotta work to do lad." "Is the Captain fully back to normal? I mean, has he finally submitted to a medical examination?"
<TAG: TJ>
James and Cadet Janeway approached the Operations console. "Well, this is where you'll be spending most of your time. Could you run a diagnostic on the sensors? After taht, we'll head down to Engineering to eliminate the last bugs."

MacHeath stood up and left the briefing room. Sending an away team would probably mean taht he and his Cadets would be on it. He decided to show them a little of what it was like on an H-Class planet.
=^=MacHeath to all Security and Marine Cadets and Instructors. Please meet me in Holodeck 2=^=
Minutes later, the doors of the holodeck slid open and the newcomers found themselves in a rocky desert. Lightning flashed and lit up the sky every few seconds and a storm made it hard to stay on your feet. The newcomers looked around, unsure what this was all about, unsure what the hell they were doing down here. The doors of the holodeck slid shut after them, making an ominous "plonk" sound.
Suddenly, they heard a clear voice. "Computer, eliminate weather effects." Immediately, the lightning and stopped and the storm calmed down. It became possible to actually see something. On a small rock, not far from the newcomers stood MacHeath", smiling. "Welcome to P32-3H, comfy isn't it?" He looked around. "Ah, Commander Chan, Cadet J'Ka and of course the others whom I have not yet had the pleasure to meet, how good of you to come. For those of you that don't know me yet, I'm Lieutenant Colonel Douglas MacHeath, the new Marine Instructor on teh Hepta. I have a lot of experience in the field of difficult away missions and I have worked on several H-Class planets, so I thought it might perhaps be helpful to explore the typical conditions on an H-Class planet. Shall we do some excercises here?"

"Yes, sir." she says with a little too much energy. She is very eager to start. She steps behind the consol and starts to run a series of sensor sweeps. 'You never know what you will catch with more than one sweep.' Her mother always said.

=^=All cadets and instructors report to the Briefing Room in 20 minutes...=^= a voice said through the intercom. Seth felt a bit sorry that he had kept his cadet too busy for relaxation, as Jamey was still in ten forward and had not been able to do a thing of his own.
"Well Cadet Parker," Seth said, "you heard it right, let's head for the briefing room shall we. I've heard that ONE doesn't like people who are late."
<<tag Jamey>>
Seth walked to the turbolift together with his cadet but he didn't feel like keeping up the pace, as they had about a quarter of an hour left to get there. Seth decided to give a quick tour of the decks, to get Jamey used to the Hepta.
"This here is sickbay," Seth explained, as they walked along a hallway where a nurse was pushing a trolley with medical equipment. "Let's just hope that you won't need the knowledge where it is located shall we?" Seth chuckled.
<<tag jamey>>
When Seth and Jamey continued their stroll, they were joined by another instructor and her cadet, who were just leaving sickbay. Seth decided to introduce himself to them.
"Pleased to meet you cadets, and of course honoured to meet you too commander! I think we haven't met yet. I am Seth Bern, the new navigations instructor, and this is my cadet Jamey Parker" he said.
<<tag Jamey, Jordan, J'ka, Stuart>>
"Would you care to join us to the briefing room?" Seth offered, and when the he got a couple of nods in return they proceeded to the nearest lift.
Within seconds they arrived at the briefing room, 10 minutes early. Seth watched how the officers and cadets were coming inside and when ONE was about to start the briefing, the doors closed behind the last person
"You're late," Commodore ONE said to the officer and Seth felt sorry for him.
The main screen suddenly showed a planet, which Seth thought to be Saturn.
ONE started with the briefing and Seth was eager to get to the planet in question. He wouldn't get the Hepta nearer to the planet of course, as this was the job of his cadet.
"Any questions?" ONE said. Some questions were raised and the officers and cadets were dismissed after ONE's final announcement: "We leave spacedock in exactly one hour, not a second longer."
Seth synchronised his watch with the clock hanging on the wall and guided his cadet to the bridge. When they arrived there, it was already buzzing with excitement, which made Seth look forward to the upcoming weeks.
"Alright Cadet Parker," Seth said to Jamey as he gestured towards the helm post, "make yourself at home!"

McLeod had heard MacHeaths message while he was in his quarters. He ran over to the holodeck as MacHeath ordered. As he stepped into the holodeck and felt the wind begin to whip hima nd the lightning begin to sound. After a moment of disorientation he quickly hunkered down. "And I thought the Highlands were bad." he thought to himself. "Welcome to P32-3H, comfy isn't it?" MacHEath said Cleburn couldna resist, and said, "Aye, sir, she quite cozy lil planet ye got fer us." When MacHeath had finished his speech McLeod called out, "So, aside from the wee gale we experienced earlier, what are the special treats this planet offers? Tag

”I understand … I don’t want to the one who is late either”, Jamey said.
Jamey smiled because he was just wondering if the doctors on board this ship knew anything about Trill Physiology.
”Hello”, as Jamey responded to each person.
Jamey saw Seth synchronize his watch and decided to do the same while trying to act like it was something he had done all the time when in fact he was just following Seth’s example. It seemed like the thing to do.
Jamey looked at the helm and thought how it seemed ‘real’ contrast to the one in the holodeck simulation. He sat down and ran his hands across the board just to get the feel. He looked at the navigation sensor read out, the propulsion system, the tactical overlay, the manual controls everything seemed to be the same. Jamey felt a reassuring feeling about that. He had always feared that the simulation somehow got it wrong, he was glad that it was not.
He ran through a mental checklist in his mind and just hoped he had not forgot anything; he did not want to punch a new ‘exit’ in the space dock.

Seth saw how Jamey looked a little discomforted and decided to explain the main difficuties.
"As you I have already told you," Seth began, "the majority of your tasks will be controlled by the computer, but there are 2 things that you have to be aware of: one, you are not allowed to use the impulse engines while in the perimeters of the dock, of course you understand why." Seth winked to Jamey and continued.
"The second point is something that went wrong at my own first departure, but it might sound obvious to you. You can see the 2 regulation areas for the manoeuvering thrusters, push both forward and you will go straight ahead. But if you transfer more power to the one particular thruster you will go make a turn."
Seth decided to tell one of his experiences about his own first real life flight.
"I severely scratched the paint during the departure." he began, "Usually you don't have the time to think about what to do during emergencies, everything has to be in your system do you get me? It wasn't in my system which thruster made the vessel go which way."
Seth got an understanding from Jamey.
"The following happened" Seth continued, "A vehicle crossed my pathway and in a reflex I wanted to go right and put all power in the right thruster, thus going left. You can guess what happened next! So please remember, because this vessel has got to take part in more missions: left is right and right is left!"
Seth felt that Jamey still looked a bit insecure.
"If you have any questions cadet Parker, do ask them as I am here to answer them! And remember that the only stupid question is one that isn't asked!" Seth assured him.

Jamey looked at Seth as he was giving a bit of ‘been there’ wisdom. Jamey always loved that type, mainly because if Jamey has learned one thing from being a joined Trill; learn from other people – the good and the bad.
Jamey looked down at the RCS thruster system. He was glad that Seth was allowing him to use the computer’s automated systems for departure. He had it in his mind that he would make him enter more manual maneuvers. Jamey looked at the two regulation areas that Seth was talking about and remembered a similar system on a cargo freighter. He also remembered how that system froze up on most of the ships he piloted.
“Se … – Lieutenant Bern, do the regulation systems freeze up from time to time?” Jamey asked, wondering if he should have just said Seth instead of Lieutenant.

“Se … – Lieutenant Bern, do the regulation systems freeze up from time to time?” Jamey asked.
"Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet cadet Parker," Seth said, while he frowned "the Hepta has had a thorough final checkup two hours ago and it should be functioning quite fine. You will not have to worry about it"
<<Jamey>>
Seth nodded and sat down in the chair behind the one where Jamey was sitting, he found it quite comforting that cadet Parker prepared for every occasion, even if it was very unusual.
He took out his PADD and made some suggestions to the holodeck simulation he was making, he wanted to be prepared for any boring moments. Together with that Seth didn't expect any problems occuring during the mission, but he did want to prepare his cadet for them. The suggestions he wrote on his PADD were all kinds of errors that he could put in the programm, thus making an incredibly good training.

Finding three sensor glitches, she looks to see what the problem is. One of the glitches is due to subspace distortions. She wonders what they did to cause this one. Moving on to the second one, she notices it is due to a misalignment. The third remains a mystery. She looks to the commander wondering what is next.

Dr. Jordan Mackler was just about to quiz Stuart when the call had come out for their mission briefing.
“I suppose this will have to wait.” Dr Jordan commented as she and Stuart prepared to leave sickbay.
Just before they left, a lieutenant was giving a quick tour of sickbay to another cadet. They had all exited together and everyone was introduced to each other along the way to the meeting. The lieutenant was the navigations instructor, along with his navigations cadet.
Stuart made it a point to start associating the names of the individuals to what species they were. The lieutenant, Lt Bern, was Bajoran while his cadet, Cdt Parker, was a Trill. He knew that this practice would prove to be useful in his career as it would help speed up his diagnosis and care, if and when he was to receive the name first before he actually saw the patient.
Stuart made a mental note to check Cdt Parkers file to see if he was a joined Trill. He could have asked, but everyone was a little too busy to get to this briefing, and Stuart didn’t want to seem too intrusive right away.
The briefing had ended and everybody returned to his or her respective stations.
Back at sickbay Stuart tried to make preparations for this upcoming mission of investigating P32-3H, a class-H planet, but he really didn’t know where to start.
“Dr. Mackler, what do I do now? I’ve gone over the PADD and now know that an H-class planet may contain heavy gases and metal vapors. I suppose we could prepare for eventual casualties that may come into contact with them?”
Stuart was thinking that he was headed in the right direction with his assessment, but he needed confirmation. He was the student, after all.
In the mean time, Stuart could not help but once again realize how beautiful his instructor was. He wasn’t used to what was becoming to be a distraction. She seemed to be near the same age, it was hard to tell. Stuart had to remind himself that he had to remain professional. He was here to learn how to save the lives of many species…and yet she was still beautiful.

With a slight smile brought on by this brief call away from paperwork and back to real life, at least for a few moments, Mr. Parker stood and walked away from his desk, moving down the corridor with Cmdr. Chan.

“Good, I have been in a situation were the systems did freeze up”, Jamey stated, “and as Murphy’s Law would have it … it was at the most inconvenient time.” “I just wanted to ask”, Jamey said. Jamey had many thoughts running through his head; after all he had three live times worth. One of them, at that moment, was of his first host who had been in the Earth Starfleet before and worked on the NX class ship. Those gave many problems before everything was working just right.
Jamey noticed Seth working on his PADD and said, “Will you give me credit for that suggestion in the simulation?”

While Seth was working on his PADD, Jamey said, “Will you give me credit for that suggestion in the simulation?”
"You are quite a clever fellow that you correctly guessed what I was doing, but I don't really like people sticking their nose in my business cadet. It would be fair towards you to give you credit for the program, but at the moment I wouldn't feel very guilty not to." Seth disliked being this strict towards other people as it was not at all in his nature to do so.
Seth looked at his watch and saw that there were only fifteen minutes left before the departure. He hoped that Commodore would give a signal once it was time to go, as he didn't want to be the one who decided when to leave.
He already heard and saw the wires and tubes disconnecting fomr the Hepta and felt the sensation he felt every time he departed. Somehow he still wasn't used to spaceflight although he had been doing it all his life.
In a quick look around he saw that every station was manned, the first officer was sitting in his chair, and when Seth looked at his watch he saw that only 10 minutes remained. *I sure hope that ONE gives the final order for departure soon* he thought to himself because he grew impatient from his eager to leave.

Jordan was running a quick diagnostic of a system that had been fluctuating since it last blew up practically in her face. It was still slightly unstable and she sighed. She needed someone to get working on that as soon as possible but until then all one needed to make it work without blowing was a light touch. She turned when she heard Stuart speak. Jordan: Since we're going to a class H planet it would be beneficial if we ran some tests on the crew that plans to go on the away mission. We need to test for any abnormalities that they may exibit that would prevent them from workin' efficiently on the desert surface. We can start on the least occupied of areas right now, namely ya cadet. Stuart gawked at her. Stuart: Me? Jordan: Yes cadet ya. It is likely that they will brin' a person of medical background down with them to make sure they all stay hydrated and to brin' any of them back to the ship if any problems occur. However, I did say I'd be putting you through a little test. Then I'll check your vitals and systems. Then ya can start calling down people who are goin' on the away mission and check them over. Jordan picked up Draco from a biobed where he was sleeping and put him on her shoulder. He woke up a little and then fell back asleep. Jordan shook her head and started walking towards the doors. She looked at Stuart and saw him still gawking in astonishment at her. She smiled. Jordan: Ya comin' cadet? Stuart shook himself out of his astonishment and followed her to the holodecks. Jordan started up a scene involving sickbay and turned to Stuart. Jordan: Ya will need to take care of the crewmembers that come in with their varying degrees of injury. It is preferable if you keep all of them alive but if ya lose someone and there was nothin' ya could do for them, that's ok. I will not be helpin' ya in any way during this test. Ya ready? Computer begin program. Alarms erupted all over the place and people were yelling for help. Draco woke up with a start and yelped in Jordan's ear, making her wince. I can hear ya perfectly fine without your emphasizin' your emotions in my ear,[/i] she thought to Draco. He told her he was sorry and watched as Stuart went to work. He was very efficient in his work and Jordan was impressed. Draco made a sly comment and Jordan did her best to ignore him. She watched Stuart intently as he worked his way around to each patient. <tag:Stuart> OFF: Yes, a diagnostic scan will be run on those of you who are going on the away mission, I expect each of you to report in for your exam. If you don't you will not be allowed to go on the away mission. I have been lenient in the past about physicals but this is not something you will be given a choice about.

-- Bridge, T minus 1 minute -- Commodore ONE emerged from his Ready Room and sat in the Captain's Chair in the center of the bridge. He said not a word, but silently observed the buzz of activity going on around him. It warmed his Borg heart to see instructors working with their cadets, getting them ready for their first real mission with Starfleet. Even more Borg-heart-warming was to see so many cadets excited and eager to learn. This, ONE thought to himself, is why I love the Academy! -- T minus 10 seconds -- LT Bern looked again at his watch and shifted his wait. Come on, ONE, it's time to go, he thought. He looked at the Commodore, who returned his look, then looked back at the viewscreen, still silent and motionless as a rock. Seth followed ONE's gaze to see a countdown pop up on screen: "Subtle..." Bern muttered under his breath before turning to his cadets. "I think that's Commodore ONE's way of telling us it's time." OFF: For official information on the planet classification system, refer to Section 47's very own database. From the main page, navigate DATABASE > ENTER > FEDERATION SCIENCE COUNCIL > STARFLEET ASTROPHYSICAL SURVEY > PLANETARY CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM.

Stuart entered the holo-projected sickbay and observed that there were six patients with varying degrees of injuries. His EMT training kicked into gear and Stuart immediately started triage, the act of categorizing who needed immediate treatment compared to those who didn’t, based on their various injuries. He started with what he remembered as the ABC’s of treatment.
The ABC’s of assessing a patient’s condition was a centuries old method that was still a proven method of saving lives. The A was for checking the airway, which would have to be cleared if it was obstructed. B was for bleeding, which needs to be stopped and controlled. In some cases severe arterial bleeding had to be treated first before the patients airway could be checked. The C stood for circulation that actually related to shock. If the blood didn’t circulate, shock would set in causing more harm to the patient due to the lack of oxygen to vital organs.
Seeing right away that one of the patients was bleeding profusely from his leg, Stuart approached him first. It was obvious that he was breathing okay due to his crying anguish about the pain. Stuart used a coagulation activator to stop the bleeding from the artery. Instructions were given for the nurse to administer a neuroelectrical suppressor for the pain and melorazine, which was a mild sedative, to relax the patient. He was stable now and could be left alone for further treatment later.
Stuart approached his second patient that appeared to have been a victim of a phaser blast directly to his chest. He was also unconscious, but Stuart was able to determine that his breathing was steady, yet shallow. A quick scan with the tricorder showed that he had severe lung damage. Stuart retrieved a hypospray of trioxin and injected his patient at the neck.
Stuart had only spent about three minutes with this patient, but he needed to move on. He gave one of the holo nurses instructions. “Nurse! Set him up with a blood-gas infuser. That should stabilize his oxygen levels while his lungs are recovering. He’s not bleeding, so treat his chest wound for third degree burns.”
The rest of the patients had varying degrees of minor injuries that Stuart treated as was necessary.

About five minutes remained when the doors to the bridge suddenly opened. The individual who stepped inside was immedeately reckognized by Seth as cadet Brandon O'Connell. Seth walked towards him and greeted him.
"Welcome on the bridge cadet!" Seth said, "We are due to depart in a couple of minutes, and I would like you to watch cadet Parker when he does his departure. Afterwards I will let you do the exact same procedure on the holodeck, so pay attention! You can come to the helm with me now."
<<tag Brandon O'Connell>>
Seth and Jamey were joined by Brandon and Seth looked at his watch to see that only a minute was remaining. He glanced to the side and saw that the eyes of Commodore ONE were fixated on a viewscreen in the middle of the bridge, where a countdown was displayed.
Seth nodded approvingly when he saw that Jamey made sure that all systems were functioning correctly. A confirmation of the trusthers' status was given by engineering and they were ready to go.
Seth watched how the countdown slowly reached zero and placed his hand on Jamey's shoulder.
With a warm voice Seth gave the command, "Let's get her out of here cadet, steady as she goes!"

Knowing we have taken off, she works busily not even looking up at the view screen. She realizes there is still too much work to be done to relax any. Still waiting for the commander to show her what's next, she tries to find out what is causing the third glitch. She runs a couple more tests. The third glitch still remains a mystery. Then it comes to her. The third glitch's cause isn't showing up here because the glitch is in the operations system.

Jamey’s attention was on the panel as Seth’s hand touched him. He really didn’t even feel it but he knew it was there, nerves he guessed.
Jamey saw that all the lights indicated the ship was clear of its moorings and that all gantries and turbo lift shafts back to the station was secure. The clearing from the space station was given and everything was ready for his input.
“Maneuvering thrusters back at one eighth”, Jamey said has he hit both bow thruster inputs sending the massive ship slowly backwards. The ship moved with ease in the space dock. Jamey thought how smooth it felt compared to the small cargo transports he had piloted.
The distance reading from the navigation readout was reading 90 meters from docking, then 150, 170, then 360 meters. Just shy of football fields he thought, well … that would be American football. He shook his head to keep his mind from wondering.
“Coming about to heading 090”, Jamey stated as he hit the port thruster twice. The ship started to turn toward bay door number two. As the read out read 070 he hit the starboard thruster control once to slow the turn, and then as 090 came, he hit the control again to stop the turn. Jamey then fired both the aft thrusters to bring the ship to a stop.
“USS Hepta requesting clearance to bay door two”, Jamey requested
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] “Starbase Conqueror to USS Hepta, clearance granted; we are opening the bay door now.”[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow]
The navigational lights started to pulse as the large doors began to open, the stars starting to appear between the opening doors.
Jamey waited for the navigational readout to show the center axis alignment beam. When it came, Jamey said, “Thrusters ahead one half”. The large ship began to move as small worker bee shuttles hastened to clear the flight path; on the navigation sensor display, Jamey kept a close eye on each.
From out side the station the bow of the ship began to exit as the ship seem to just keep getting larger and seemingly never end. As the ship was three quarters through the opening, “Thrusters ahead full, flight path clear”.
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] ”Star base Conqueror to USS Hepta, hold on flight pattern beta.”[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow]
Jamey brought the ship to the correct distance from the station and entered a holding orbit about the station.
“Clear of the star base and holding in flight pattern beta, Commodore” Jamey said awaiting further orders.

Sorry all, I'm kind of stuck at the moment. I'll post Friday and then I'll respond to all the tags too. Same goes for MacHeath.
