Joan held her sword waiting for the next idiot to come and face her. She wondered if she might have to face off with someone she would have considered a friend, and hoped not. Unfortunately several officers come at her, and she carefully takes them on defeating them one at a time, helping to push back their enemies. She sees the captain, and goes to try and retain him, as she knows Andromache wouldn't want to loose him. Several people get in her way, and she has a tough time trying to get to him, but continues to anyways.
Riz finds a few systems are starting to go wrong, and wonders what is going on. "Engineering, why are we loosing systems?" She says, but doesn't get an answer, and continues to try and find one at her station.
Lt. Johnson finds things aren't going well for her either, suddenly she hears that we have been boarded, and several security teams are called forward.

Off: Cool Doctor, that makes me feel special Paikea couldn't explain it, his mama had just disappeared in front of his eyes. He ran and ran around the dunes and the beach in search of his mother, but she was no longer there. Paikea noticed that the the land all around him started to get darker and colder. It was a terrifying experience, it seemed as though the darkness was coming after him and it would engulf him. Paikea ran all he could, but it was still coming after him until finally it took him. "Help, Help, Help me!" Paikea screamed with no avail. It was no use he was trapped and there was no way out. Then out of no where a bright light appeared in front of him. Paikea looked to wards the light and saw door appear in front of him. Which was really strange at the moment, but Paikea didn't care. He had to get out of this darkness. Paikea walked slowly to wards the door and it opened as he got closer. Paikea hesitated about entering the door, but after much thought he decided that he would enter. As he started to enter the doorway, everything went blank. It was no longer darkness or light. It was nothing. SickbayShe scanned his body and found he had a heartbeat. He was no longer dead but he was still far from well and he would be weak for a long while when he did wake up. There was a blinding light in front of his face and he couldn't do anything about it. His eyes were trying to open, but the light made that really hard. Paikea was getting desperate for the light to turn off, but it never came. He started to scream, but nothing came it. His mind was strong, but his body was exhausted and restless. The stress of the light on the body soon became apparent, and the bio-bed started to sound in response. "Doctor we need you over hear," a nurse screamed over at the EMH. This was his chance, Paikea thought and he forced his eyes opened. "Oh my Lord," the nurse said as she realized that Paikea opened his eyes. "Doctor he has awaken," the nurse said. Then all of a sudden the memories of what had put him there came rushing back to him. "Ka... aaa.." Paikea tried to say softly. The nurse couldn't hear him and so she got closer to Paikea's voice. "Cadet please repeat that," the nurse asked. "Ka...aaa..tee," he said softly before passing out once again. <Tag Katie>

"Commander, I can get the battle on our viewscreen, if you wish. It won't be very detailed, since I'll be crossing our infra-red sensors with... well, you get the idea."
O'Connor nodded. "Please do." From the safety of the Bridge, the officers watched as the battle unfolded. It was not a pleasing sight, but O'Conner had all of the transporter cheifs on duty, and (using the shuttle's transporters as boosters) they were beaming up people from the surface fairly quickly, directly to Sickbay. Most of the Starfleet personnel were not beyond help, but some weren't beamed up in time, and Sickbay was already beyond full capacity. Several had already died
=^=Mackler to Ford.=^=
William tapped his commbadge. He, Penfold, and O'Conner were all that reamined of the regular senior staff and their cadets on the Bridge. "Ford here."
=^= Cadet Paikea almost died. He was flat-lining, and- well, you might want to come down and encourage him, if you've got the time. He's out right now, and... hold on. (in sickbay nurse tells Jordan Paikea's single word) Oh. Well, anyway, if you can spare the time, it'd be good to have you down here. I don't want any phychological turmoil after he recovers. He doesn't seem like that type that would suffer from that, but still, as a precaution...=^=
"Sure," said William. "He's going to make it, isn't he?"
=^= Yes, he will. But it was a close call.=^=
"I'll be right down," said William. "You want to come down, too?" he asked Penfold.
"Yeah, I'll just make sure there's someone else ready to take over this station..."
Within minutes, William and Penfold were at Paikea's bedside, watching his health increase under the care of Jordan.

Katie has passed out moments after Paikea arrived to help her. When she came back around she didn't know where she was. There was bright lights and comosion all around the room. She heard voices but was unable to understand any of the words being spoken.
Katie rocked her head back and forth as she tried to let her eyes adjust to the light levels in this strange new environment.
Am I dead? She thought to herself.
She felt cold hands touching her body on her stomach and a warm tingling feelings running up and down her belly. Feeling sharp pains in her abdominal area she let out of few cries of pain. Katie's vision again went in and out of focus with each quick shock of pain.
Katie felt a cold metal object press onto the side of her neck, she turned her head towards the direction of the pressure. A single soft voice said something to Katie but she couldn't understand the words. She then heard a single hiss and quickly drifted back to sleep.

Ten... Fifteen ... Twenty minutes they fought, sometimes Cyle appearing as if he would win, other times Andromache was the sure victor. Parries were exchanged, thrusts were blocked, as they fought on and on.
Though she did not show it, Andromache could not help but admire the skill of her opponent. Most who fought with her died within a few strokes of her blade; This youngster, she thought, has half a chance of becoming a legendary warrior one day – if I let him live. She determined she would find a way to allow him to leave today’s battle alive.
Suddenly it flooded Andromache’s consciousness the casualties suffered on the Amazon side. It was not often the case, as all of her warriors were exceedingly skilled fighters, and nearly all were the equal to men in strength.
Suddenly, and without warning, her blade spun vertically in her hand before she slammed it into the ground and lifted her voice above the din of the battle.
“Sisters! Cease hostilities!” she cried out. And nearly instantly, every Themiscryan warrior stopped battling, their weapons at the ready in case their opponents pressed an unfair advantage.
“A challenge has been requested by one of their warriors; I find it to my amusement to grant the request at this time.”
At this point, Andromache caught sight of Roz, then turned to Cyle.
“Another time, nursling,” she said as she laid hand on the hilt of her sword, removed it from the ground, turned her back on him and made her way towards Roz, leaving Cyle fuming silently at the insult.
“You mentioned the Amazon Challenge,” she said to Roz. “I will grant it now, champion to champion, your greatest against one of ours.
“Call forth your champion.”

Roz fumed at the fact that she couldn't do anything to help her friends out in the battlefield but she did make sure to keep TJ out of harm's way. A few arrows were launched at him but Roz had learned her lesson quickly about bows and arrows and managed to divert them elsewhere. A few Amazons even came after him but all she needed to do was hand him a sword and he managed to handle them on his own. He wasn't Xin-Ling when it came to fighting but he wan't bad. She watched as Cyle took on the queen and was impressed by his skill but could see him tiring. Roz could fight for that long and even longer without a break but it was draining on one, exceedingly draining. She saw the queen pause and halt her fighters. Roz watched every one of them, knowing that they wouldn't disobey their queen but there was no telling which emotion was greater, the fear of disobeying or the hate of men.
Andromache: A challenge has been requested by one of their warriors; I find it to my amusement to grant the request at this time.
Roz bit her tongue to keep from howling in rage. Amusement?! The queen then said something to Cyle that Roz couldn't hear but she saw the fury well up in his features. She caught his eye and shook her head. He took a deep breath and relented. The queen laid hand on the hilt of her sword, removed it from the ground, turned her back on him and made her way towards Roz.
Andromache: You mentioned the Amazon Challenge. I will grant it now, champion to champion, your greatest against one of ours. Call forth your champion.
Roz stood at her full height, which wasn't as impressive as she had hoped but her eyes flickered between yellow and green. She saw the queen hesitate slightly at this oddity of Roz's but it was only for a moment.
Roz: You're looking at her.
Roz's eyes didn't leave the queen's as she waited for Andromache to choose the champion for the Amazons.

Cyle was gettin ever more tired until he was sure he would collaspe from fatigue, then the Queen stopped the battle.
She slammed her sword upon the ground and called all her fighters to stop. “A challenge has been requested by one of their warriors; I find it to my amusement to grant the request at this time.”
"Another time, nursling,” she said as she laid hand on the hilt of her sword, removed it from the ground, turned her back on him and made her way towards Roz, leaving Cyle fuming silently at the insult.
Cyle was shacking with anger, then he caught sight of Roz, who shook her head. He quited down a little but still the signs of anger and fatigue were showing. He went over to the captain, and stood by him, making sure he was ok.
" Captain, are you ok?"

He went over to the captain, and stood by him, making sure he was ok. "Captain, are you ok?" TJ glanced at his wrists; they troubled him from the binding from Antiope and Xantippe, and were somewhat cut from the cords from which he had recently been loosed. The alternative, however, would have been far worse, he was certain.
"'Tis nearly fit as a fiddle I am," he said gravely, still hurting over the pain of Joan's transfer of loyalties.
His mind was also with Xin-Ling. He did not know she had been wounded, but wondered, as he couldn't see her anywhere.
Tired from the battling, he let the tip of his sword's blade fall to the ground, maintaining his grip on the hilt, and breathed heavily.

With a tilt of her head and at the raising of both eyebrows, as if to say, “Whatever!”, Andromache sighed, then narrowed her eyes, as if an idea had suddenly struck her.
She turned to the neophyte Amazon, Joan McCormick, and said, “Normally, I would send one of my trained champions in, but I offer you the chance to win glory for yourself, and for our exalted Artemis. Do you accept this woman’s challenge?”
The War Queen waited for response from the new Amazon....

”Then go, young sister, and prevail."
As Joan stepped into place, facing her opponent, Andromache continued.
"The battle will begin at my signal – my blade cast between the two of you.” Turning her face to Roz, she said, “Win this battle, and I will permit the survivors of your people to leave without further harm. Lose, and I will take your captain for the sacrifice, and the best of your crew to be sold on Themiscrya.”
With that, Andromache took her knife from its sheath, held it expertly by the tip of its blade, and sent it sailing through the air, where it embedded itself in the ground midway between Roz and Joan.

Joan realized within a second that she was choosen for this time, and gulped nervously. She remembered the last time she saw Roz fight, and wasn't sure what might happen if she went to the kill mode.
"I accept this honor, my queen, and will not let you down." She says still nervous about fighting her former crewmate, but grabs a sword and goes to face her. She hears the instructions, but barely. She almost looses the grip she has on her sword, but recovers. She isn't prepared at all, then the sword goes in between the two of them, and the fight begins.
She instantly keeps both eyes on Roz, not wanting to be taken by surprise by anything the woman does, and remembers to watch her eyes for the changes.

Roz watched Joan very carefully and knew she needed to go about this very carefully. Joan was shorter than her but Roz could tell that there was some hidden danger in Joan's movements. Best to treat her like I would Diana, she thought. Diana had been her brother's girlfriend. Diana and Roz had never gotten along and they were finally to go at one another one night in an alley. The memory came back to Roz.
----Flashback---- Roz and Diana circled around one another, the echoes of Remy and Alex's feet reverberating off the stone of the alley walls as they ran to go fight their own fight. The tension and hatred in the air was palpable enough that you could have driven a knife through it. Neither of them was armed with any weapons, a mistake that Roz swore she would never do again as it put her in awkward predicaments. Diana had blonde hair and green eyes. She was quite beautiful but she had a heart of ice and fingernails that could scratch glass. Diana had a smug smile on her face. Roz's face was calm but set.
Diana: It seems we finally get some time alone together little one.
Roz: Appears so.
Suddenly, Diana charged with the speed that had been taught to her by Roz's father. Roz blocked the charge, her eyes turning green, and barely managed to block the oncoming attack from the side that would have crippled Roz if it had hit home. They had battled back and forth for a long time. Diana had scratched Roz and cut her cheek deeply a few minutes before the end of the fight. The sting was barely registering in Roz's eyes but she could feel the warmth of her own blood running down her cheek. She then took a deep breath, standing up straight, closed her eyes, and reopened them to show eyes yellow as a hawk's. Roz saw the momentary hesitation in Diana's eyes and she smiled inwardly. When Diana next attacked, Roz was ready for her and blocked the attack, grabbing both of Diana's arms then kicking her in the stomach, directing the kick forwards and up. She let go of Diana's arms and watched her skid along the ground. Diana quickly got back up to her feet, a trickle of blood coming from her mouth. Roz then leapt up into the air, pushing off the walls to a dark balcony and disappeared in the dark. Diana could still see her and smiled largely. She then leapt up to follow Roz but Roz was faster and she came down, catching Diana in the gut and with her jump, directed Diana down towards a metal rod sticking out of the wall from something that had been there before. Roz then jumped away as she heard Diana scream. Roz didn't look at the dead body but knew she was dead. It was what she had been trained to do. ___End flashback____
Roz now started maneuvering her sais around and watched Joan for any move that she may make.

Cyle stood in the circle that had formed around the two fighters. He had ever known the traitorous woman that was now fighting Roz, but knew she had once been a starfleet officer.
Cyle had spent some time watching Roz in her fights, and knew she was good. Something about her eyes were different in every battle.
'C'mon, dont get caught by surprise' Cyle thought as he stood next to the captain. He looked over and saw the look in his eyes, then turned back to the fight in progess.
Cyle was sure, no matter who won the fight, the Amazons and Starfleet, would most likely fight again, both sides would be angry with the death of their "champion" and would feel the need to shed blood. Cyle hoped it wanst Roz's that fell from her today

Just a note to you all to compliment you on the fine job you've done, especially this past week.
I must, however, request that following Roz and Joan's battle, we wrap this up quickly and attempt to capture Andromache and bring her to justice. (It's about time to head back to Starbase Conqueror.
Thank you.

Joan realized Roz wasn't going to make the first move, and she wondered how long they would be locked in stances just looking at one another. Joan grew tired of just watching her opponent, and came forward with her sword swinging it at Roz's head. It is blocked, and suddenly she has to move quickly to block Roz's attack. Wow, she is fast. I am going to have to be careful and try to play a little chess here. Joan thinks wondering what she should do to get three moves ahead of her opponent. She backs off to think better, and finds that Roz is waiting for her again, but this time the wait is short, and Joan doesn't have much time to think about her chess idea.
Roz comes at her, and Joan isn't prepared for the move, as she has never seen it before, and it isn't programmed into her. Her sword is flung from her hands, and she looks around for another weapon, which is provided, two swords this time. Joan winces and protects her left side hoping Roz will notice and go for the bait.

Have you ever had a headache, of course you have, but that was nothing compared to what Paikea was feeling right now. He had just awoken from what seemed to be an endless sleep to the worst thing possible. It was a searing pain that made his eyes tear. Paikea screamed out in pain to the surprise of his instructors. Paikea didn't know how long they had been there, but he was eternally grateful that they had been there for him. Someone Paikea didn't really know or care came to his side and applied something to his neck. The piercing pain in his head had subdued, but Paikea didn't understand why. He had not been injured in the head, but again Paikea couldn't be sure.
"Cadet, Cadet listen to me," someone said to Paikea, but Paikea honestly didn't want to listen, the pain still throbbed his senses. "Cadet, I said listen to me!"
"I'm listening, i'm listening," Paikea said conceding that he had to listen to what this person had to say. "First please turn off the light." Paikea's request was fulfilled and for the first tiime in a long time, Paikea could see. He saw that the person that was talking to him was the EMH.
"What can I do for you doctor?" Paikea asked.
"Cadet you have been injected with Tricordrazine, a very potent and deadly drug," the EMH said," that is why you are feeling so horrible right now." Right now Paikea wanted to hurt who ever put that drug in him, but found that he couldn't get up.
"Don't try to get up Cadet," Commander Ford told his only cadet.
"That's easy for you to say commander, you didn't see what is going down there," Paikea said feeling a little brave. The commander didn't respond to Paikea's comment which Paikea was grateful for. He would have to heal quickly because he knew that the battle would be over sooner or later.
Paikea had talked to his instructor's for the better half of two hours. He needed to know everything that was happening. He asked them about the Captain, the battle, and of course the rest of the Cadets. Paikea really only had one in mind, which thankfully they didn't press either. They told him that she was resting peacefully in her bio-bed. If the dagger would of puntured her two inches in either direction she most likley would of die of internal bleeding.
The only reason that they stopped talking was because the EMH ordered the Commander to leave. They both faught with him, but knew that Paikea needed his sleep.
"Cadet before you fall asleep I must ask you if you would like to follow this course of treatment," the EMH. The doctor went on to explain that they had some Borg nano-probes that would quickly enhance his healing process.
"So what's the problem?" Paikea asked.
"Well these nano-probes have never been used and they could have a unexpected affect on your body," the EMH explained. By this time Paikea would of said yes, hours ago. The pain in his head had begun once again and he was only waiting for the doctor to finish.
"Doctor just do it," Paikea pleaded.
The doctor quickly went to the his his counter and brought a hypospray, which Paikea believed to hold the nano-probes.
"Are you ready?" the Doctor asked.
"Yes I am," Paikea said as he felt the cold flush of the hypospray enter his body. He was out cold the next second as his body healed.
Undeterminded time later
There was no pain, nothing. Paikea smiled uncontrollably to the fact. He quickly opened his eyes to see that sickbay was empty except for the Doctor who was doing his last duty as a physician. He was next to a dead crewman. Paikea clearly could see that his throught had been ripped out of his body. The doctor was prepping his body for the morgue and even though he was a hologram, Paikea got the impression that the EMH was saddend by the lost of so much life. Paikea quickly shot up and turned trying to get off his bio-bed, but felt that he shouldn't disrupt the Doctor's process.
After the doctor finished with the autoposy he enclosed the body in a body bad and teleported the body to the cold, dark space that was the morgue. The doctor quickly turned away and headed towards his office.
To be honest Paikea didn't feel any different than before he got injuried. This fact made Paikea feel like superman, but of course he was not. He tried to stand and fell foward, the only reason he didn't fall flat on his face was because he had caught himself on the bio-bed closess to him.
"You shouldn't do that, you're not superman you know," Katie said smiling.

Roz saw Joan's weight shift right before she attacked and saw the sword swing towards her. Roz ducked quickly and made a jab at Joan's torso with the butt end of the sai in her hand but it was at the last second and Roz stepped back to ready herself for the next attack.
Roz then smiled and lunged at her with a speed that Roz saw came to Joan as a surprise. Roz leapt into the air, landing just short of Joan and Roz caught the blade in her sai and kicked it out of Joan's hand and tried to kick Joan but she had jumped back before Roz touched her. She saw momentary panic in the woman's eyes and smiled inwardly, though she showed no outward emotion. WHen Joan picked up two swords, then winced, protecting her left side, Roz knew something was up. Roz hadn't hit her and hadn't done anything to pull a muscle. However, she ran towards the left side then quickly ducked under the swing of one arm and kicked Joan's legs out from underneath her and barely dodged the sword as it came down. Roz shoulder gave a small throb and she took the split second it took to look at her shoulder. It was still bleeding and now the area around the wound was becoming red and throbbing. I either got something in there or that arrow had more than just the head, she thought. Either way she knew she didn't have time nor the ability to call a small break so she could find out the answer.

Katie looked over Paikea. He looked a lot better than she felt. The doctor was able to fix Katie up real fast but insisted she rest for a few hours before she should return to duty.
Katie smiled the best she could to Paikea, he didn't want him to know how scared she was, how foolish it was for her to enter a battle as she had done with out the same training most of the other security officers had. After a few seconds of looking into Paikea's emerald eyes Katie began to cry.
"I'm sorry Paikea, I just wanted to help. I didn't mean to put you in more danger."

It was stifling – unbearably hot. The odor in which she found herself smelled of sulfur – burning sulfur. She could barely breathe. All around her was darkness, except for a small pinpoint of light overhead.
With all her might, she struggled toward the light, sometimes sinking deeper into the terrifying dark, but every now and then moving slowly, laboriously toward the light.
Then all at once – just how, she was uncertain – her struggles became more and more effective, and the pinpoint of light above her grew like a distant star being approached at warp speed. Soon, there was more light than dark, and the blackness was primarily behind her.
Suddenly she screamed, and immediately following her outcry, could hear buzzing noises. Over the course of moments, the buzzing resolved into audible voices, and she could hear a woman call, "Doctor! The Commander is coming around!"
At the moment she heard the woman's voice, she once again felt searing pain in her back, and winced in agony, thrashing about on the biobed, which was now soaked with perspiration.
Xin-Ling was awake.

Joan noticed where Roz's attention went to, and wondered if that might work out for her, but decided not to try it just yet. She gets up while the woman isn't looking and then finds she was watching, just not full view. Joan prepares for another attack bracing herself, and then it comes.
Joan tries to stab Roz several times, but is blocked each time. All of a sudden Joan loses the right sword, and then the left with another move she had never seen before. Before Joan can do anything, she is again flat on her back, and without a weapon. She wonders what will come now that she has lost this battle.

Paikea and Katie just sat there looking at each other for the longest time without talking. There was no need to, for both of them understood that they had been through a horrific bloody battle. Pai could tell that Katie was trying to be strong since she was smiling at him. It was the same beautiful smile that she had given him when she met him along side with William Hunter. That had been the best day of his life so far, he had made two great friends, and secretly Paikea hoped that one of those friends could become something more than just a friend, but at this time he would keep quiet knowing that it wasn't the right time or place.
Both of them locked eyes again, but after a few seconds of looking into Paikea's emerald eyes Katie began to cry.
"I'm sorry Paikea, I just wanted to help. I didn't mean to put you in more danger." Paikea couldn't help, but cry silently as he moved closer to Katie. His entire body ached and hurt, but he kept on moving until he was at her side.
"Don't you dare be sorry Katie, you did everything you could and I know that you saved my life," Paikea said as he comforted Katie. It was true, if it wasn't for Katie and the rest of the security team, Paikea, William, and Cyle would be dead right now. She had risked her life to save that of her crewmates and there was know wrong in that. "Katie I was always in danger, but the thought of you getting hurt gave me the strength I needed to defeat the enemy."
"But if it wasn't for me you wouldn't of gotten hurt," Kaite said still feeling guilty. There was no reason for her to feel guilty, he had already been hurt in battle, but she didn't know that.
"Katie I was already hurt, but I just had to make sure you were alright," Pai started," I don't know what I would do if I lost you."

Cyle stood in the circle that had formed around the two fighters. He had ever known the traitorous woman that was now fighting Roz, but knew she had once been a starfleet officer. "Cyle, Can I help you. I am a Marines , I help only Paikea, when he wash wounded. "said William Hunter.
Cyle had spent some time watching Roz in her fights, and knew she was good. Something about her eyes were different in every battle.

"There is nothing to do but wait" Cyle said to William, who eneded up near him.
Cyle continued to watch the battle, and waited for anything to happen

Roz dispatched Joan of her swords and towered over her, rotating her sais in her hands unconsciously. She wanted to kill Joan for putting them all in danger but she knew that she wasn't a killer, unless she felt her life truly threatened. She also thought about Jason and what his reaction would be when they got back and Joan was dead. She stopped twirling the sais and her eyes softened a bit. She could see the Amazon queen looking outraged and smiled inwardly. She was tempted to drop her sais and fight Joan hand-to-hand but decided against it. She turned to the Amazon queen, sheathing her sais against her arm.
Roz: I have beaten your champion and now comes the part where you keep your end of the bargain your majesty.
Roz knew that it might not be that easy and prepared herself for anything that might come. She saw the cogs in the queen's mind working and had every muscle she might need tensed.
Andromache: It was a fight to the death.
Roz: I won't kill fellow sisters that I consider to be weak. The shame will teach them to do better next time.
She knew she had stung Joan's pride and was sorry for it but also thought that she had it coming for all the trouble she had almost caused them all.

Andromache was furious, but as she was royalty, she was skilled in keeping the fact to herself.
"The word of Themiscryans is honorable," she said simply, obviously fuming, exceedingly angry that Joan had lost. She would have to ... speak ... to her about that later. It was obvious that Joan would need to go through intensive military training.
"I have promised no further harm to your people before me now. Regretfully, I will keep that word."
A general rumbling of discontent stirred through the Amazonian crowd, and harsh looks were cast in the direction of the Federation personnel.
"Sisters," Andromache cried, addressing her warriors. "Give these safe passage from our presence. If, however, so much as one of them turns back to us, you may have your sport with them all!"
The War Queen turned to Roz with a scowl and added quietly, "See that your people never again come to this sector of space. It is Amazon territory, and the safe passage I grant you out will not apply if you return. Now go!"

Cyle listened to what Roz had said, and nodded in agreement, though he didn't say anything, he knew she was right.
Cyle looked around as the other Amazons, and then back at the Queen. Something didn't seem right to him, something was going to happen, he just knew it.
He tightened his grip on his sword and moved to stand closer to the captain."William, be ready for anything" he whispered towards William, hoping both he and the captain heard him.
He was relieved when the Queen gave them safe passage, but also disturbed that nothing could be done for Joan. turning to walk next to Roz, he spoke to her " what about her? are we just gonna leave her here?"
