Joan is looking over a small list, wondering if this is good for her idea. She hopes that it is approved, and she takes a final sip of her drink before she gets up to leave. She remembers to grab the list she made, and heads out.
She decides it best if she asks someone before just making an announcement. She realizes that Riker is around, and she heads for his office.
It doesn't take long before she is outside his door. She rings the chime, and hears a voice inviting her in.
"Hello, sir, I have something I would like to ask you about. That is if you aren't busy." She says not wanting to disturb him.
(Riker)
"Alright, what I propose if a way for those who are new to meet those who have been here awhile. Cadets, instructors, and any of the Academy Staff that might be available to participate, I mean." She says and finds herself nervous.
"I have made a small list of items, and I think a scavenger hunt just might be what everyone needs. Something fun, and nothing too pressuring. What do you think?" She says looking for his opinion.

"Not at all, the only thing I have going on right now is the endless task of unpacking and tidying up my quarters. What's on your mind?" Riker inquired

"Sounds like a plan. As you probably noticed earlier I haven't exactly mastered the deck plan yet." Riker responded with a grin "So when will you be ready?" Riker asked

“A scavenger hunt? Last time I was involved in anything like that, I had to initiate warp whilst still in the outer orbit of the planet I was on in order to escape. Still got the scars from the dash to the shuttle to prove it too.” He commented, rubbing the back of his head with a wince in remembrance of the pain.
He glanced back up at the two officers, who were still processing his presence. “Sorry, I was standing outside the door, I couldn’t help but overhear.” He offered his hand to Commodore Riker, and when the senior officer presented his own, the marine pumped it vigorously. “My office is just a few doors down the corridor, I thought I’d pop in as I was passing. A treasure hunt though… that’s certainly an idea. I’m not sure whether there are many folks about right now though, with the Hepta having recently left.” Joan half-nodded at his words. “Still, we can see who there is, and there’s no rush I suppose.”
Riker, although following the conversation, obviously still had his mind on something else. “What do you do here Colonel? I don’t remember seeing your name anywhere.”
The El-Aurian ran his hand through his hair as he pondered the question. As he did so he reflected that his hair had been blue for quite a while now, and that it might be time to change the colour sometime soon. As he wasn’t likely to get any tactical missions, there was no need to dull it back down in an attempt at camouflage. Maybe red next time… He looked back up at the Commodore, remembering the question he was meant to be answering.
“I’m not sure of my official title, but I’m currently working as attaché to the Assistant Academy Commandant. It’s an interesting situation, he is still…”
“Commanding officer of the Nevada, I am aware of this. I suppose it makes sense for him to have a representative here. I suspect I will be working quite closely with you at times then Colonel.”
“Indeed sir.” Q2 replied with a smile. “Now about this scavenger hunt. Joan?”

She nearly jumps out of her skin at the comments of the other officer. She didn't know anyone else was about, and realizes that there are other offices other than Riker's and her own. She smiles and listens.
She hears his question about the hunt, and she smiles. She hadn't thought of it being a treasure hunt, and she liked that too. She wonders which would be better recieved.
"Well you brought up a good idea too. Which do you think would be better, a scavenger hunt or a treasure hunt? I had a list made of possible items to find, but maybe coordinations and a map would be better with a treasure to seek. What do you think?" She says hoping to get some suggestions from them both.

A little while later, Joan had several padds in her hand, and smiled. She hoped everything was in order, and that there would be a lot of people around to take part in this. She sighed knowing what she has to do.
=^=All starbase staff, Hanson crew, cadets, and anyone else I might have left out. Please report to the Starburst ASAP. There is a fun activity planned, and all is welcome to join in. It will begin in the next hour, so anyone who wishes to participate, please be here before then. Thanks.=^=
She was glad the announcement was done with, and wondered how many would show up.

Fun? Art thought when he heard the announcement. I like the sound of that!
Art entered the Starburst and went straight to Joan McCormick. He sauntered up to her and introduced himself with a charming smile. "Hi... I don't think we've formally met. I'm Art Cline." He stuck out his hand, and she shook it.
"Pleased to meet you, Mist--"
"Art," he cut her off, "call me Art." *pause* "So what's this fun activity you called about?" he asked with a twinkle in his eye.

She was busy reviewing the list, and wondered if anyone would be joining her for this activity. She saw a shadow over her, and looked up to find a man there. She noticed he wasn't in a Star Fleet uniform, and wondered who he was. He quickly introduced himself.
"Pleased to meet you, Mist--" She started to say, and found herself cut off. It made her mad when people cut her off, and she did her best not to show it. She found he didn't say anything, therefore she figured she must have been successful at hidding her feelings.
"Altright, Art, the activity is a scavenger hunt. I have a list prepared, but I was hoping for more partcipation. It doesn't begin for another hour, so if you wanted to get something to eat or drink, I wouldn't hold it against you." She said putting the padd next to her diner, which she noticed was already half eaten. She didn't remember eating it, but figured she was so engulfed with the rules and such of the hunt that she didn't notice when she was or wasn't eating. She picked up her fork, and continued to finish her meal. She noticed he was just standing there. She looked up at him again, and noticed the twinkle in his eye. I don't think that twinkle is a good thing, or maybe it is. I don't know him well enough to tell the difference.
"You may join me, if you are looking for company." She said noting the rules were complete. She had nothing left for the hunt, and found that waiting was the only thing left to do. She smiled up at him, waiting for him to move.

Art took Joan up on her offer and ordered himself a martini. He sat down next to her and sipped his drink. "So," he said looking her in the eye, "tell me about yourself." He listened intently, genuinely interested in what she had to say. <Joan> OFF: Sorry it wasn't longer, but the ball's in your court now.

Joan noticed he took a seat next to her, even though the seat across from her was empty. She wondered why he did that, and started to feel a little uncomfortable. She slid a little more in hoping he would get the message. He didn't seem to, and looked her in the eye. She looked back not sure what was going on with him.
"Well, what did you want to know?" She said unsure of where to start. Her life wasn't interesting, and there really wasn't much to tell. It's not like I invented something or saved lives. I'm not important, just a kid who lucked out. She thought and smiled remembering her mom.

OOC: Sorry, wasn't sure where to take this. Now the ball is back in your court.
