Okay folks, here's my idea for the next mission:
The USS Poseidon has gone missing, and since its CO, Captain Thomas O'Reilly, is one of Starfleet's most talented and brilliant officers, they'd rather like to have the Poseidon back. We go in search of the Poseidon, and find this massive ion trail leading away from the area of Poseidon's last known position. We follow it, and it leads us to this ship the size of a planet. And not only is it the size of a planet, it is a planet! Built by a highly advanced race, the Devine, they convert suitable planets into a ships, and use them to move their race to wherever is deemed most suitable. The Poseidon has crash landed, and while the Devine graciously help the Poseidon crew repair their vessel, they also deem Captain O'Reilly a worthy individual and invite him to remain with them. He at first declines out of a sense of duty to his ship, but later is enticed by their offer. Will we be able to convince him to leave? Only time will tell...
So, what do you think? Opinions, changes, completely different ideas? I'm open. I may invite a guest to NPC Captain O'Reilly, but haven't decided who yet.

I like the idea of the ship and O'Reilly. I like the crash landing and the invite to stay on the planet. Not crazy about the planet being a ship.
What weakness does O'Reilly have? Does he secretly wish he were a Duke or Marquess and rule a castle? Or a Scottish Laird? In that case, these people will make that come true. But only if he stays to help them conquer their enemies with modern phaser rifles (or whatever).
The Nevada is sent to find out what happened to the Poseidon, whether crashed (recover the bodies) or rescue the crew.
Whatcha think?

That I use the Poseidon/O'Reilly thing because I really wanted to use the planet-ship idea. It's an idea I rather like and wanted to go with.
But I like your idea as well. Especially if he's already help them on a limited basis with a few phasers, in which case if he returned, he'd be court-martialed for violating the Prime Directive. Stay and have real power or leave and be court-martialed. Definitely more challenging.
Which idea would the rest of you prefer?
(And don't forget about the Shore Leave thread!)

Of course as CMO I would prefer the relief and rescue mission. Gives T'Pren something to do! But whatever you all decide, I'll go with. I'm not picky!

The Poseidon Adventure (sorry....lol) sounds ok to me. Might be interesting for science and certainly engineering. And I am sure, T'Pren, that we could manufacture some injuries/virals/plagues that would keep you busy, and I'm also sure we can ratchet up the tension with you, Grey and me.
I'm developing some NPCs for Science, some normal and some rather quirky. I'm sure they could also add to the plot intrigue, and even get around to medical once in a while--there's one NPCwho wants to be a doctor and can't stay away from sickbay, and who finds T'Pren to be the very one he has been seeking his whole life, as a mate. Complications, complications......lol...

A planet-sized ship..isn't that just a space station or the Deathstar or on a small scale, a Borg sphere.. It would be kind of cool though to have a planet that had been completely mechanized, the logistics of which would be mind-boggling. Sounds sweet, when does it start?

The Dyson's Sphere is like that but it doesn't move... it's a real planet.

Sounds sweet, when does it start? We'll start the mission soon-ish. For now, just enjoy the shore leave thread.
