OOC:Just so you all know for now we're technically docked at Starbase Conqueror.
The ship slightly shuddered as the dock clamps took hold of the ship. Nick let out a sigh only for his body to cringe at the sound of screeching metal reverberating through the ship. One of the nacels had given way and slowly propelled itself into the rear of the saucer.
Several decks up crewmembers had watched in awe as the nacel slowly sail by their windows. Before it could collide with anything else in the space dock a couple work bees grabbed it and pulled it to a safe distance for repairs.
"All hands this is the bridge. Prepare for disembarking. We're safe, please commence ground kissing procedures," L'Ola joked over the comm.
All around him Nicks crew let out a sigh of relief. Their patchwork repair job had succeeded in getting them back to base, only just barely. A couple times the deck had been shuddering as the, now detached, nacel had rattled around on the pylon. The intertial dampners were shot after crashing into a planet.
"Alright people, lets pack up and get out of here. Lets let the clean up crew get through here before we start rebuilding systems. We've got a couple weeks or so of recouperating and testing to do. Take a couple days and get some sleep. Thats an order."
The engineers all chuckled and replied, "Aye Aye sir!"

ooc: this is also posted to the Hepta Graduation thread......as Mr Reo requested a response. Hepta people please DO NOT respond on this thread.
Mark Harper was surprised that one of the cadets was requesting permission to come aboard. ~no not cadet~ he thought ~he's an officer now~
Together with most of the senior staff, they had watched the graduation ceremony and Harper knew that though Sonak was relieved of command and still confined in sickbay she would've managed to view the ceremony too.
"Request granted Mr Reo," Harper announced, "though please state to the watch officer at the hatch what your business is and don't go wandering about the ship. Maintenance crews are busy everywhere, and as you are not assigned to this ship we cannot keep constant track of you. Internal sensors are still off-line."
~Sickbay~
Sonak had been surprised when Hedin had lowered the forcefield so she could move freely about. The guards at sickbay's doors told her that she wasn't allowed to leave just yet, and she could understand that. To her, it was already enough that she had her four children with her to entertain her. That, and she could help out in sickbay with minor things if necessary. From Hedin she had gathered that they were expecting an assistant chief medical officer, to replace Caldwell, who had been seriously injured during the crash.
Even more surprising was when suddenly the security cadet who had been responsible for her current situation entered sickbay. "What can I do for you Mr Reo?" she asked, "other than congratulating you on your graduation."

L'Ola stepped onto the starbase with a strong feeling of relief going through her system. They were definitely back. But the feelings of excitement and happiness that just a few weeks ago she had been anticipating were nowhere to be seen. She knew who she wouldn't meet when she got there.
She made sure that she was smiling as she walked through the corridors. Depending on how long repairs took they could be there a while, and she didn't want to get a reputation for being grumpy.
Heading towards the eating areas, L'Ola spotted someone that she hadn't expected to see. In fact she hadn't even thought of the possibility of running into her.
Jenna Peters was quite happy sat reading her book. A little preoccupied maybe, but happy all the same. She had a fairly busy week planned, and really wanted to make the most of her trip away.
She looked up when she realised someone was stood at her table, and a grin appeared when she saw who it was "I wasn't expecting to see you! What's the Ves doing out here?"
"Um yeah we kind of broke it again. Don't think it's anything I can get blamed for this time which is nice. Just have to co ordinate repairs for now." L'Ola sat down and relaxed slightly, it was nice to have an old friend to talk to.
"Well I haven't been here long, I have a wonderful week of meetings and lectures worked out. But nothing this afternoon. Any suggetions?"
L'Ola thought for a moment, "Normally I'd take you round the ship but there's not much there at the moment. Plus I'm hiding from reports."
Jenna smiled, "Ah a First Officer's work is never done."
"Acting Captain" came the immediate reply "And don't ask, just don't ask."
The two sat in silence for a moment before L'Ola thought of something else, "You know, Lucy said they have some pretty good sports programs here. Fancy a game of badminton for old time's sake?"
Jenna looked puzzled, "Lucy's here?"
"Lucy was here. Again, don't ask."
"That's fine with me, prepare to be beaten again..."

Kate stood in the shower, hot water flowing down her shoulders. To her water was the only true shower, none of this sonic shower crap. As far as she was concerned the only thing that would melt away stress was hot water. In her case it helped her refocus after witnessing the carnage around the crash.
If only there were a way for her to regain some credence with the crew. No one seemed to trust her, the Commodore wanted her dead, and her husband wasn't sure if she was insane or really trying to change. One thing was for sure she'd now seen the effects she's been having on the crew over the last few years.
She moved her face into the stream of water and let it cascade down her chest in silver rivulets. A noise came from the living room of her temporary quarters on SBC. She stepped out of the shower and pulled a towel around her. Behind her the water shut off automaticly as it detected her absence.
"Hello?" she asked, her senses still slightly dulled after her encounter with Reman in the forrest. There came no answer. She grabbed the towel bar off the wall and slowly made her way out into the living room.
~This person is good~ she thought.. ~Very few can put me on edge~
No sooner had she stepped into the room a pair of strong arms clamped over her and pulled her back into the shadows.
"Don't make me hurt you," a raspy voice said. She relaxed slightly and dropped the towel bar.
"Good, now listen closely miss," the voice continued with a slight accent. "You're going to stop doing this craziness and start doing your work."
"What makes you think I'm not doing my work."
"You're taking hot showers on a starbase," he moved his hand further down her physic. She caught his hand and crushed it. He let out a yelp and bashed her over the head with a metal object, probably a phaser.
"Don't trifle with me missy," the man said. His eyes visibly glowed red in the dark. "The boss says get back to work or else."
"Tell boss that he can shove it and then come talk to me. I quit the guild, no more shadow play."
He let out a guteral laugh, "No more shadow play eh. Then what are you doing with a holo suit?"
"I needed to avoid the pesky cadets, they were prying too much. Besides it's useful if I want to disapear."
"Convenient. You've been warned Kate. Take it or leave it."
"Screw off! And leave me alone once and for all!" She stood up keeping one hand holding the towel around her, the other weilding again the towel bar.
"Very well," with that he disapeared in a poof of black smoke.

Hedin, hunched over the desk filled with various data PADDs scattered about in no particular order, rubbed his temples and tossed the report he had been reading aside. He sat back heavily in his chair, closed his eyes, and tried to collect his thoughts, thoughts as scattered as the paperwork surrounding him. Lately, thinking straight had become something of a chore rather than a practiced habit, as it usually was for him. Still, as he turned over the events of the previous weeks in his mind, a kind of solace came over him and slowly began to quiet his inner turmoil.
Undoubedly, the stress levels of everyone onboard who had survived this last arduous mission had taken a heavy toll, most of all on Commodore Sonak. As the officer in charge of her health, however, Hedin had experienced some degree of rub-off effect on his own mental state; after all, everyone had been shaken by the Commodore's erratic behaviour. Add to that the feelings of loss from having sacrificed so many good men and women in the crash, the overwork involved in patching what remained of the Vesuvius back together well enough to get them to starbase, and acute uncertainty about what lay in store for this battered but still bold crew. All told, it appeared many things might well not be the same for many of them. As for Hedin, it had only been a relatively short time since he had accepted his assignment here, and thus far, his experience had been a somewhat trying one professionally.
However, such times were nothing new to him, having been on a number of similarly trying assignment in his long and varied career. His confidence, despite what had happened, was still quite strong, and more than that, his personal reasons for continuing on this ship more than made up for any conceivable professional difficulties. He had begun to establish a definite rapport with his crewmates, at least in his opinion, and during this latest mission, bonds established with the tough patients under his care seemed to go beyond a superficial attachment. Once more, he had truly formed a comraderie with a starship crew, something he had been longing deep down to experience ever since he had been faced with a long spell of shore duty on Deneb IV after the loss of the last starship he had been privileged to serve on, the Barnard. Just as with the crew of that proud vessel, his affinity for the unique relationships possible only between spacebourne comrades had surely manifested itself through the tribulations endured and triumphs won even during these short months past.
For now, his future would be here, on the Vesuvius. What lay ahead in the years to come remained to be seen, but for the present, there was important work to be done and a daunting challenge to be met. This weary crate had to be hammered into a fine vessel again, and her crew had to mend their own wounds at the same time they mended the ship's. From what Hedin had obeserved, however, this crew was more than capable. The obstacles in their path might prove demanding, even painful, but from what he could tell, this crew had the motivation the overcome them.
As for their commander's health, that was a challenge still more daunting. It had to be met, though; the unity of her crew depended on it. Not to mention the reputation of one of the finest commanders in the fleet. As Hedin picked up his discarded report from where he had tossed it, the names of contingency personnel being transferred from Conquerer stared at him on the PADD screen. Tired of squinting at the small text, he had it displayed on the wall monitor behind him, then swiveled his chair to face the readout. The biographical details of one Dr. Jere Opet stood out almost immediately. A physician with these kind of qualifications would be vital in the days to come...

Fox had left the Vesuvius as soon as it was docked to Starbase Conqueror. As he walked to the exit of the docks he saw several officers in yellow uniforms run to where he came from. "Must be the engineers." he thought "Hope they can get the Vesuvius in her old shape again." And left the dock.
As he walked through some corridors of the Conqueror he felt his stomack rumble which made him aware he hadn't eaten all day. He went to the restaurant area and sat down at a table. Immediately someone stood at his table to take his order.
Not much later he came back. "There you go sir." he said and put a plate with the stake which he had ordered in front of Fox. Fox nodded "Thank you." and grabbed his fork and knife and cut a piece off the stake and put it in his mouth enjoying the taste of it.

The last matter to be attended to before Hedin would at long last be able to sign off duty for the day and visit the starbase for some much-needed R&R was the final diagnosis report on Commodore Sonak. It with with some reluctance that he put his signature to the document's conclusions, as they were such that no physician enjoyed admitting to about his commanding officer.
Nevertheless his duty was abundantly clear, and to shy away from its unpleasant nature would be unacceptable. He read over each detail once more before submitting it through the comm system for immediate delivery to the base's medical department, his own direct superior in this sector. It wouldn't do to miss or misconstrue any detail of this diagnosis, for much more than just Hedin's own reputation and career depended on it.
It would be his recommendation that Sonak maintain off-duty status for the duration of the ship's refit, projected to last several weeks at this point, and until such time as the results of both the official inquiry board into the events of the previous mission and the psychiatric evaluation by the starbase counseling staff could be obtained.
The inquiry board would likely be a mere formality, due mainly to the fact that the Vesuvius had not been lost under Sonak's command, the damage it had incurred was not due to negligence on her part, and no court martial was therefore warranted. As for her behaviour subsequent to rescue by the Hepta, Hedin's diagnosis of temporary insanity resulting from post-traumatic stress syndrome would probably result in a reprimand of some sort, its degree of severity depending on the board's assessment of how voluntary most of her actions really were.
Hedin would certainly due his utmost to convince the board of just how impaired Sonak had been (and still) was in an effort to emphasize the mitigating circumstances, but there would almost certainly be some kind of disciplinary action taken, possibly including a temporary loss of command status or reassignment even after the refit was complete. Hedin was confident that the psychiatric issues could be resolved before it came to that, however; the unique properties of the Vulcan brain allowed for at least as much hope for a speedy recovery as they posed potential hazards. God knew that hope was one that the entire crew rode on as they struggled to get back on their feet; losing their captain could be a significant stumbling block to their progress in that area.
Having transmitted that report off to whatever fate, which was now out of his hands, awaited it, Hedin finally allowed himself to relax slightly. The first part of his job had been done, and now it was time to rejuvinate and prepare for the task ahead. After the survival conditions on the planet followed by being cooped up in a barely functional Sickbay during the long trip home, he was ready to get out in the open and interact with new people.
First, though, he had to stop off in the base Infirmary intensive care unit to check on Caldwell's progress, which turned out to be stable, with a good prognosis for full recovery, albeit likely involving extensive physical therapy for spinal cord injury suffered in his accident. Recent advances in cybernetic regeneration techniques promised to allow him relatively normal neuro-musculatory function, however, which was the first bit of good news Hedin had gotten all day.
Proceeding to make his way to the Central Arcade for a decent meal in one of the many gourmet cafes, Hedin prayed his luck would hold...

ooc: I just spotted Doc Hedin's post.....place his about an hour or two before mine.....he just beat me to posting by 3 minutes.
ic: From her quiet little room in sickbay, Sonak watched Hedin rush about in sickbay, walking to and from a wide variety of patients. Being docked at Conqueror, Sonak would've thought the majority of the patients would be treated there, but the truth was far from that; it seemed the Vesuvius crew trusted Hedin more than any other doctor, despite every Starfleet doctor being equally competent. She watched him leave sickbay, though she knew he would come back soon enough. She settled back in the chair that was provided her and pulled up her legs, pulling a warm blanket over her body and picked up the book she had been reading. She would wait until Hedin would return to sickbay and then she would try to talk to him.
Personally, she was starting to grow really bored and lonely, even though reports on the repair progress were provided to her, but none of her crew had visited her ever since she arrested a second time and confined to sickbay. Yet, even Jatan could only visit her so often now that sickbay was still filled with patients and the children were too young still to understand what it means to be considerate of sick people, and that they needed rest. It had been hours since he had come to visit, and Sonak knew that if and when possible, Jatan would take the children to the ship's pool and since they loved swimming she wouldn't have it any other way either.
Finally things were slowing down in sickbay, the lights were dimming and she knew most patients were about to go to sleep. Quietly, she walked up to the CMO's office. "Doctor have you got a few minutes for me?" she asked, waiting on the threshold to the office, "I feel I need to talk to someone about what happened. I cannot help but feeling guilty that you and the other doctor were attacked, but I still cannot understand why I do not remember it happening."
<Hedin>
Sonak walked into the office and sat down in the chair opposite of Hedin's desk, fiddling with the sickbay attire she was wearing. It was obvious she was uncomfortable, but it was also very clear that she needed to talk to someone and in absence of a ship's counselor, Hedin was the person to talk to. "I believe I need help in this," she continued, "I am counselor trained, but I cannot do this on my own, and I do not wish to burden my bondmate with this, nor my first officer."
<Hedin>
"I am growing tired of spending time in sickbay. I am relieved of duty, but am I also barred from leaving the ship? Conqueror is a large station, I believe spending some time there will do me good, I need to be away from the ship for now."

ooc: Since I've already posted subsequent actions on my character's part, my response on this post deal with events preceding them. Hope that makes sense...

I cannot help but feeling guilty that you and the other doctor were attacked, but I still cannot understand why I do not remember it happening."
Hedin looked up from his work, and tried to form a sympathetic smile, a habit he'd gotten into lately. "Perfectly understandable. The Vulcan brain's psychosupression centers are involved, and though medical science doesn't fully understand all the details yet, the same processes which develop for the supression of emotions also seem to have a unique ability to compartmentalize certain emotional memory engrams. The technical term is engrammatic dissociation, but what's important is that it means you may always have troubled retrieving some of those memories."
"There are counseling techniques designed to alleviate any traumatic side-effects of this ability, but in my opinion, the best thing for you is to begin to normalize your mental processes by gradually resuming everyday activities. Familiarity with them, along with the support of family and friends, is your best medicine right now. My physiological treatments are complete and doing their work as we speak; now it's time for the emotional wounds to heal. Please come in and sit if you wish; I'm sure being in bed for as long as you have makes getting up disorienting."
The doctor nodded. "I agree, though I want to again stress that family and close friends are your best resources to turn to at this point. Not being either one, my assistance can only go so far, and to be perfectly honest, space psychology is not my specialty. I've consulted the base Chief Counselor, who has agreed to help you in any way possible, but counseling is only one component of your recovery."
"If it makes you feel any better, I have some experience with what you're going through. When my wife and daughter were killed many years ago, I underwent a period where the memory of the event was blocked from my memory for a time. It took...much effort...to cope..." He paused slightly and his normally serene face contorted momentarily with the emotions this recollection spurred. "That coping was only possible through the support of a close friend, a colleague whom I had known for years, but who had no particular expertise with such matters. The healing he helped to bring about was of a kind that cannot occur through standard treament alone, and it's something I've regarded ever since as vital to any such recovery. If there's any way I can serve in that capacity, then I will be glad to accept that burden." The calming smile once again lit his face.
"I am growing tired of spending time in sickbay. I am relieved of duty, but am I also barred from leaving the ship? Conqueror is a large station, I believe spending some time there will do me good, I need to be away from the ship for now."
Hedin glanced back at a data PADD containing Sonak's most recent physical exam results. "From what I see here, there's no reason why you can't be released from our care at this time. However, I will have to maintain observation of your condition by assigning Nurse Gale to escort you whenever you leave your quarters. I'm not saying a repeat of your earlier behaviour is guaranteed, but it is a risk we have to face. You still have much recovering to do, and I'm not convinced you're ready to be on your own yet. I do think getting out onto the station is a good idea, though, provided you remain supervised."

"Download complete" the incredibly boring computer voice rang out.
L'Ola put down her smoothie and picked up the PADD she'd left on the side. Flicking through the first section she concentrated hard. They were due several new officers, and she was determined to know every one by name before she met them. This was, of course, assuming that their photos on file were up-to-date.
Then she got to the section of the report that she always hated, the leavers. She dreaded finding out that someone was going and hadn't told her. Luckily there were no such people this time through. Not even, L'Ola was pleased to note, a certain maintenance engineer who had been threatening to leave a while back. And speaking of engineers...
L'Ola checked the time and realised she should be somewhere else, but even by the time she made it to the Starbase holosuites she was the only one there. She sighed. "Computer, send the following message to Commander Martens' location: You're late."

Sonak didn't like the notion of a nurse following her wherever she went, but if this was going to be part of the condition for being released, she'd live with it. "Thank you doctor," she said warmly and reached to touch his arm, "and I really do want this cleared up. And I suspect it will be sooner rather than later." She walked out of sickbay feeling a lot better than several minutes before, and before long, she found herself walking across the promenade of Starbase Conqueror. She found Nurse Gale to be a pleasant woman, and very considerate, but she was still missing the contact with her senior staff. Hedin had been correct in mentioning that she wasn't ready to be on her own yet, and Sonak didn't want to be on her own. Ever since she was relieved of command, she had felt extremely lonely, and it was not a sensation she cared to repeat. "Tell me more about yourself," she asked of the nurse, as the two of them crossed SBC's promenade. <Gale> Then, all of a sudden Sonak spotted a familiar face; the navigations cadet who had challenged her on the Hepta, and had also asked for her assistance in locating his mother. "Ensign Maverick!" she called, waving him over, "what are you still doing here, are you not off to your next assignment yet?" <Maverick: Sonak doesn't know you're to be her CNO just yet..feel free to tell her >

After a trying week and a half maverick made his way back to star base STARBASE conqueror ,and headed back to his room he was he had not gotten much rest this pass week and need to get some on arriving to his quarters he notice that there was a text message asking him to report to the Vesuvius ((am never going to get any rest )) he thought to him self (( better report to the Vesuvius)) and headed out his room
“maverick reporting for duty sir/ma’am, any thing I can do help”
“yes there is but 1st why did it take u so long to report in?”
“had a lil family mater that needed taking care of”
the offer gave him a once over and said “ you look like u haven’t gotten much rest son”
“am fine sir, am ready to work.” He said with a broad smile on his face”
“yes you may be ready to work but your body says something different, why don’t you go get some rest son.”
He was a bout to protest buts was cut off “that’s an order son”
“Yes sir” and he was on his way .
on he way back a very familiar voice rang in his air "Ensign Maverick!" he turned in the direction of the voice only to see commodore sonak waving him over. He slowly walked over to her and her companion “hello ma’am” "what are you still doing here, are you not off to your next assignment yet?" she said ignoring his greeting
“Not as yet ma’am” he replied with a smile on his face realizing that she did not know that he was her new CNO yet ((this could be fun he thought)) “well there is not much to do with a broken ship ma’am, and let me be the 1st to introduce you to your new CNO ma’am” he said with a bit of a smile .

“well there is not much to do with a broken ship ma’am, and let me be the first to introduce you to your new CNO ma’am” he said with a bit of a smile .
Sonak blinked at hearing this. "You got assigned to the Vesuvius?" she asked, surprise evident in her voice, "well that is the first good news I have received since hearing I was allowed to walk around on the starbase."
The Vulcan motioned to the human woman accompanying her. "Nurse Gale, this is the young man I had been telling you about. Ensign Trey Maverick trained on the USS Hepta, the ship that came to our rescue."
She turned back to Trey. "Are you enjoying your shoreleave ensign?"

Trey passed is hand through his hair as if pondering on his question it’s been great so far, but can’t wait to get back to work” he said with a big grin on his face, his eyes not really meeting hers.
“So how has your shore leave been going?” he ask quickly, trying to divert her from him self.
“And who is this most excellent looking lady with you?” he asked now focusing on her companion
maverick was trying really hard to hide his tiredness from them
Sonak gazed sideways at the now blushing nurse. "This is my chaperone, Nurse Gale," she said, her face completely devoid of any emotion as she said it. Then she took a closer look at her new navigator; she'd been both a wife, mother and a commanding officer for too long not to notice a tired officer when she saw one.
She cupped his face in her hand and tilted it thereby forcing him to look up at her. "When was the last time you had any sleep ensign?" she querried, "I believe it is best for now that you are report to Commander Kanz, since I am still relieved of duty, and then it is straight to bed with you. Tomorrow is another day to have fun."

Jere stood as the transport settled in the shuttle bay of the Starbase. He picked up his duffle and the PADD which he'd been reading from and as soon as the transport doors opened he stepped off.He had studied the schematics of the ship prior to his arrival so knew where he was heading. His steps steady as he moved from the shuttlebay towards sickbay. Might as well get that over with he thought as he moved through the corridors.
Jere arrived at sickbay a short time later, only to find one of the junior staff on duty. It really didn't matter, all he wanted to do was make sure they had the record of his recent physical.
After reporting to the junior officer he was asked to take a seat and wait while the CMO was contacted. Jere did, tucking the duffle beneath his seat while he waited.

Maverick left the commodore and her companion and headed to his quarters. His fell into a dream state as soon as his head hit the pillow. He was finally able to get some well earned rest, he had been through a lot this pass few weeks, with the hepta mission and right after the incident with Sam...
Maverick awoke 8 hours latter feeling well rested this had been the longest he had he slept in a long time. He sat up as stretched, he ran his hand across his face then walked to the shower. After he was done cleaning up and having a some what decent meal he headed out. ((Now what’s there to do today)) he thought to him self ((maybe some holo deck calisthenics? no ...)) He made his way back to that little restaurant, grabbed a seat pulled a data pad out his jacket and began reading…

Jared sat in his quarters whilst the crews began to work on the repair of the damage. At this point the external repairs were priority so he was not needed to co-ordinate the repair teams. They would begin to need him soon though once the outer hull was fixed.
He plugged Sprite into the readout device and began to read through the logs he had copied then deleted from the Jonah.
'Ceci est l'enregistrement de boîte noire du véhicule de hyperspace 'Jonah'' the text began. Jared began the process of reading through it; it certainly made for interesting reading.
The next day, Jared checked the department logs as well as the ship's new crew. Enough people seemed willing to join the Vesuvius and in many ways this was the best place to be with a depleted crew since there were a lot of unassigned graduates and cadets around. Currently two things were of top priority. Firstly someone was needed to replace Bates. That should be easy enough since there were always people looking to move into Operations even though, or possibly because, the department itself was tiny and only consisted of those who actually sat at the console. Second was the fact there was a new CNO assigned to them. Apparently he was to be Redshirt's replacement as she had become CNO when Fox moved to CScO. It had been odd to place Fox as CNO anyway, but apparently it was a case of the ship's loyalty to the officer to make sure he could stay on board. Jared read though the new CNO's files and contacted the computer. 'Where is Ensign Maverick?' The computer told him. Jared took the opportunity to meet the new pilot.
He found Maverick in one of Conqueror's small restaurants. 'Ensign Maverick' Jared said, sitting in the seat next to him. 'Yes, sir?' the ensign replied 'Commander Jared' Jared introduced himself 'Chief of Operations. You'll be in the seat next to mine. At least if they give us another sovereign bridge module.' That was a point, Jared didn't know if they were going to have the top decks restored exactly as they had been or if the bridge module was to be a new one. He would have to find out from Kanz later. 'How are you finding the ship so far? I know it can seem strange working in a ship with three of everything.' <Maverick> 'You also need to find out where you're meant to go when we split. Last thing you want to do is to leave a module without a pilot.' <Maverick>

After a long walk through the corridors of Starbase Conqueror, Sonak found herself increasingly fatigued. She noticed Nurse Gale wasn't looking too awake herself either, so the Vulcan suggested they return back to the ship.
Gale walked beside her charge, pondering on the woman's behaviour but she couldn't quite place it. She seemed sane enough, and well-behaved; to her it didn't quite look like she needed a constant chaperone, but then she had worked with Hedin, as well as Jatan long enough to know that a doctor's opinion counted for something, and when they thought a course of action was needed, they usually had a well-thought reason for it. "Back to the ship," she agreed after a long silence, "but I need to stop by sickbay before I deliver you to your quarters."
Sonak raised an eyebrow at her newfound friend. "Surely I can walk the distance from dock to my quarters by myself?" she asked softly, though she picked up the doubt on Gale's demeanor, "you think I am crazy, do you not?"
Gale shook her head, smiling slightly. "No no, I don't think you're crazy. A bit unstable maybe but you háve suffered a great deal over the past months." She didn't know how to continue, because she knew even though Vulcans generally took no offense there was no reason to assume they were incapable of taking it. "And Doctor Hedin's orders were quite clear, you're not ready to be by yourself. Once I get you back to your quarters you'll be back with your family, and Jatan'll contact me if you're going out again and only when he's incapable of accompanying you himself."
She smiled encouragingly as she gently rested her hand on Sonak's arm. "I'm certain it's only temporary," she tried to reassure her, "let's try to make the best of times of it hm?"
Together they reboarded the Vesuvius; Sonak had to lift the hem of the overgown from her jumpsuit to prevent it from getting caught on something from the hatch. She followed Gale to main sickbay, though she wasn't surprised to find Hedin absent. ~he too needs his rest~ she thought wistfully.
Seconds later, Gale came walking back to her, her eyes shining brightly as she held out a PADD to Sonak. "Read this," she suggested.
Sonak smiled slightly at reading the news: a new doctor had been assigned to replace John Caldwell who was for now remaining behind on Conqueror for further treatment. "Might be a good idea if I met him," she said softly, giving Gale a hopeful glance. While she was relieved of duty, she wasn't directly ordered not to welcome new crew aboard. It was still her ship.
Gale pointed to Hedin's office. "Be my guest," she smiled.
Sonak handed the PADD back to Gale and strode gracefully towards the CMO's office. "Greetings," she announced, "I am Sonak Reckus. I assume you are Ensign Jere Opet, our new assistant chief medical officer?"

OOC: This is my last post until May. This is subject to if I have internet or not though after the wedding. I'll keep the crew updated . Nick hauled his [word deleted] down the hall toward the starbases holodeck. He had completely forgotten his date with L'Ola. They'd rescheduled the date a number of times due to shifts and their last mission. And now he'd forgotten. The doors to the holodeck opened to a vast expanse of nothingness. He hesitated to step out into the space but a nagging voice inside pushed him to. "What the hell," he muttered, shrugged and stepped off into the darkness. He slowly floated in the emptiness waiting to see something, anything to say L'Ola was here. The arch was long gone and he just floated in the dark holodeck. "Took you long enough," L'Olas' voice broke through the darkness. A second later a section of the blackness pulled back like a curtain. She waved him towards her. He stepped through the curtain to a stunning vista overlooking a great ocean. On the cliff in front of them was a picknic set fully stocked. ~~~some time later~~~ The conversation had been good for the two friends. It gave them a chance to catch up on everything from Lucy to plans for the future. "So what now? We've got a long time to get the ship running again," L'Ola said, she looked up at Nick, her head resting in his lap as he sat against a tree. He played with a strand of her hair. "I'm leaving Engineering in the hands of Sarah for a couple weeks. There's an engineers syposium on Risa. I totally need to get away for a while from space and just relax." "Great leave me with the crazy commanding officer," she mock complained. "Acctually there's a medical conference at the same place on Risa at the same time. I'm thinking of dragging Sonak and Jatan along to get them out of your hair while repairs are going on." "Really? Have you told Sonak yet?" "Yeah, she welcomed the break. It'll give her and Jatan some time to recover from the last couple months of stress. A kind of honeymoon of sorts." "Sounds good. When are you heading out?" "In a couple days. I'm going to make sure things are running smoothly before I leave." "Cool," she said and closed her eyes enjoying the sea breeze. ~~~ Kate strode down the hall towards the dock port. She needed to leave and leave now or else something bad was going to happen. She finally realised how much this crew meant to her, despite her attempts to destroy them. "You're not going anywhere," a voice called out to her from no where. She looked around at the crewmembers walking by in the hall. No one was addressing her, if anything they all gave her funny looks as to why she stopped. She kept walking. "Stop trying to run Kate. You can't escape us." "I can try," she muttered. She stepped out onto the dockway and hit something like a forcefield. She spralled back and watched as crewmember after crewmember neither experienced the forcefield nor saw her there. That was all she remembered before the world went dark. ~~~~ =/\=Security to Commander Martens and Kanz=/\= came the voice over the comm. Nick hit his badge in response. "We're here cheif, whats up?" =/\=It's Mistress Martens sir. We've found her. She's in Jefferies tube 6, deck 4.=/\= "We'll be right there." He looked at L'Ola with a raised eyebrow. Some time later they arrived in the jefferies tube. A couple security officers and medical officers were on the scene. One of the medics looked up and spoke. "She's wearing some sort of holographic projecting suit. Looks like she took a hit when one of the plasma injectors blew during warp. She's been here at least two days. The wierd thing is she's got alot of brain activity going on for someone in a coma." "Take her to sickbay and keep her under wraps. I'll be leaving soon, so keep me updated via subspace. ~~~sometime later~~~ Nick stepped up on the shuttle pad. He slung a large dufflebag over his shoulder. Jatan and Sonak followed close behind. They all waved to the Sr. Crew who'd showed to see them off. "You're gonna have fun my Love," Jatan reassured his wife. She still didn't looked any more convinced than when Jatan and Nick told her she had to go. "If you say so," she responded flatly. "I suppose it will be good for me to relax and recover my nerves so I can serve my crew better. What I would give for some good sleep and a good Romulan Ale." (not sure if Sonak likes to drink or not if not edit an appropriate drink ) "Thats the spirit," Nick said with a smile. He motioned to a couple seats on the passenger hauler. "This is going to be the best vacation ever," he said like a little kid on the way to the Disney Land. Sonak looked at Jatan who just shrugged. "I'll sedate him the instant he asks 'are we there yet?'" He joked. Sonak let out a chuckle and smiled softly. -/\-This is your captain speaking. Flight 4700 to Risa on the S.S. Myan is now departing. If you forgot something or wish to stay it is now too late. Enjoy your stay aboard our fair ship.-/\-

Maverick’s reading was interrupted by a man who introduced him self as commander jered. After all the formalities were over the commander asked
“How are you finding the ship so far? I know it seem strange working on a ship with three of every thing.”
“Full of holes sir” he said jokingly “but she is a remarkable ship and I can’t wait to pilot her, and as for the three of every thing I already know, if I am to pilot a great beast like her the one doing the piloting should know every thing about her don’t u think?” he said with a smile on his face.
The commander continued to speak giving him info on the ship and its workings and protocols.

Sonak sat beside Jatan on the transport, allowing him to pull her closer. She knew she was going to enjoy this trip, getting away from it all for a little while. Her children were entrusted into Hedin's care, whenever their own nanny wasn't available. She'd never been away from her children for so long, but she felt they were old enough to go and 'sleep over' elsewhere.
She settled against Jatan, and watched Nick sitting opposite of them. Though she was really glad to be going, she was still mighty disgruntled about being told to leave for a while. Her protests had been overruled by most of her senior staff, as well as Fleet Admiral Elron, whom Kanz had contacted in order to get her persuaded to go.
"I am sorry to hear about Kate," she finally spoke up, though she didn't manage to keep the hatred out of her voice. Again the woman had thwarted them, and again she'd caused trouble. The Vulcan knew that somewhere, Nick still cared for the woman even though he was dating her first officer now. After all, they did have one common ground: Yannis.
Nick merely gave a grunt, indicating he didn't want to talk about it. Sonak exchanged a curious glance with Jatan, but decided to let the matter slide. Kate was a sensitive subject to begin with, for the entire senior staff. "What a coincidence that there is are a medical and engineering convention on Risa," she finally chuckled, settling back for the ride, "and very convenient too."
Nobody responded, and soon the hum of the transport's engines lulled them all into a light sleep. Soon, their vacation would begin, and nothing was going to ruin it.

It had been a hell of a game, and Hedin's muscles were finally beginning to loose the tension that had built up over the past weeks. Hoverball always seemed to lift his spirits and restore his dampened reflexes, and this round of play had done that in spades. Which might have something to do with my stunning lady opponent with a backhand to die for, he reflected with amusement.
She was a Bolian scientific consultant, asked by Starfleet to come to Bellicose to assist a reaserch team in analyzing a sample of an unknown virus retrieved by the USS Invincible from an unexplored planet in the outer rim planet classified only as 119-K47. Ironically, this virus had rendered some crewmembers of the Invincible helpless, putting them into a coma not unlike the later stages of some Rigellian fever patients, which caught Hedin's interest as soon as he was told of it. His hoverball companion, after their long, much-relished meal together at the Klingon restaurant on the station, showed him the initial results of her sensor analysis on the virus, and several correlations in the structure and development cycle of the specimen showed further similarities to a few strains of Rigellian fever Hedin had encountered before.
Given that he had dedicated his life to eradicating that disease ever since helping to combat a serious outbreak on Deneva decades ago, this news was stimulating, to say the least. After securing permission to take a few samples of the dead virus back with him to the Vesuvius, Hedin decided to celebrate by inviting his colleague to a hoverball match, which she had gleefully accepted. Little had he known then that her glee was mostly due to her prowess at the game, something Hedin soon discovered when she rapidly bested him in the first four games. It certainly got his reflexes and his spirit back into shape in short order, however. They promised to meet again the next time the ship put in at Bellicose, when Hedin would hopefully have some new insghts on the virus.
Now, though, Hedin was once more back in his office, having just finished a good chat with Sonak, Nurse Gale, and his new assistant CMO, Doctor Jere Opet. The fellow seemed pleasant enough, though a bit on the stoic side. His bedside manner had yet to develop to its fullest degree, something which his fellow cadets and officers on the Raven had noted in his file.
Still, his record was impeccable, and despite being limited in experience, his service to date had been exemplary. Comments from his past co-workers included emphasis on his reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail. All were qualities Hedin admired in his staff, and he looked forward to seeing this officer in action. It would surely be a learning experience for Opet, and Hedin intended to make the lesson a memorable one.
Sonak, on the other hand, had memories to recover, and a soul to heal. This trip to Risa, along with her husband and Nick Martens, looked to be just the kind of medicine the doctor ordered, though Hedin could not take credit this time. Acting Captain Kanz had heard about the medical conference from Martens, and proceeded to lobby her superiors for permission to place Sonak under her husband's care, with Martens being directly responsible for her safety during the LOA.
Hedin was pleased; supported by family and venturing out into a stimulating environment full of new faces away from the ship and official concerns, she would likely regain her mental equilibirum sooner and more fruitfully. Hedin had assured the commodore that her children, who were remaining aboard for the first routine mission after the refit, would be looked after on his own personal responsibility. Apparently, the kids had become accustomed to intermittent absences of both parents, and their nurse was looked upon as a member of the core family just as many in the crew were seen as their extended family.
All but Hedin himself, of course; he hadn't had much of a chance to interact with the only children on board since his arrival here months ago (had it really been months?). As he filed away his reports for the completed shift, he headed not for his own quarters, but that of the Sonak family in order to rectify his previous status as something of a stranger.

[back posting and correcting misconceptions]
[Sickbay]
Jere looked up as the Commadore entered, he stood, and snapped to attention.
"Greetings," she announced, "I am Sonak Reckus. I assume you are Ensign Jere Opet, our new assistant chief medical officer?"
“Yes Sir, I am Ensign Opet.“ he replied, relaxing only after she had motioned for him to do so.
The two spoke for a short time before the Commodore excused herself.
[Later after meeting the CMO, in his quarters]
Jere settled back on the couch glancing around his quarters on board his new post, the USS Vesuvius. He hoped this would be the last time he would have to change posts and ships. It was getting tedious to say the least.
(OFF: Jere is not stoic, please get to know him before posting things which are not true to his character)
(OFF: moving to the mission post for my next post.)
