Computer Start Medical officer Log
"Doc, wounded incoming, we got six out... I repeat, we got six out!" She could hear Garman's voice piercing through to the medical bay in the back of the shuttle.
"Okay, we're ready for them," she replied calmly, nodding and smiling at the young pilot who was assisting her.
Within moments a young human had been beamed to the bio bed, clenched into a fetal position, clutching his chest. Nurse Jones immediately began scanning the man, while Dr, McNamara filled a hypo spray. "Let me guess, he's broken his ribs?" she asked. Jones nodded, frowning at the readings. "Check his cardiovascular pressure... Has his chest cavity been compromised?"
"No, Doctor. It doesn't appear to be. His BP is strong, if a bit elevated."
Kay nodded. "Bless his heart, I would think so." She leaned over the man, who was flitting in and out of consciousness. "We're going to put you to sleep now, and those ribs will be just fine when you wake up," she spoke gently as she administered the hypo. His body relaxed almost immediately and the two were able to straighten him out enough to close the surgical frame over him. Kay activated an osteopathic scan and pointed out the results to Nurse Jones. "See, here?
Five fractures, one splintered." She frowned. "We can use a sub-dural force field to keep it together long enough to get him back to the Medical bay, but it's going to have to be replaced." She handed the osteogenic regenerator to Nurse Jones and began entering a series of codes into the surgical frame. "Okay... That should do it, but he can't be moved a great deal until we can treat him later. Now..." She opened the surgical frame. "Pass the regenerator over the area of the fractured ribs until the tricorder shows complete assimilation of the bone matter," she pointed to the blue levels on the med-corder.
"Doctor," Garman called again. "We're landing to retrieve the other pilot."
"Life signs?"
"Very weak and getting weaker," he answered grimly.
"Damn," she swore. "Understood."
At that moment, her communicator beeped. "O'Brien to McNamara!" Jerry's voice was almost drowned out by the cacophony in the background.
She tapped her badge. "McNamara here - what do you need, O'Brien?"
"Doctor, nine people just showed up at the Med sickbay with radiation burns " She could hear the strain in his voice. "There are like 10 on the floor waiting for any bed to free up they're *all over the bay! "Damn!" She swore again, this time with vehemence. "I *told* him to wait for confirmation from me before sending..." She sighed, and steel entered her voice. "O'Brien, tell them to find any free space they can find tell Commodore Loskene Med Bay is in a state of emergency and the more people are there the more confusion there is. Call Security and have them politely escorted those who are not that hurt to a holding cargo bay until I can get back and deal with them. Let Security handle any problems they may have with that plan. If you hear anything from El, Salvador, tell them that you are under orders to leave those people in the holding bay until I have returned. Understand?"
"Yes, *ma'am,*" he answered, and she could almost hear the grin on his face.
"Good then. McNamara out." She turned back to see the surprised look on Jones' face. She smiled sweetly and allowed a bit of her brogue to peek through her words. "It's no good being' Chief if somebody else runs the show." They both chuckled and waited for word from Garman about the second casualty.

OFF: Hi everyone. I'm CScO Kevin Zimmerman for the El Salvadore, and seeing as how I just finished moving from Ohio to Utah (America), I kinda had my computer down, so I couldn't get here for the start of the mission. I'll pretend I was with Dimitri (Cadet Fos) when he arrived, since I was at Starbase Conqueror when he left.
ON:
The bridge was filled with commotion as Ensign Zimmerman walked over to FO Jira. As soon as the FO was finished speaking with someone else, Kevin made his way forward.
Kevin: "Sir, I'm your new CScO, Kevin Zimmerman."
Jira: "Finally! Great, now get to you station, Mr. Zimmerman. You are aware of the current situation, are you not?"
Kevin: "Yes, sir. As I understand it, some cosmic "strings" are-"
Jira: Okay, point taken."
Kevin: "Yes sir."
Kevin moved over to the Science Station. He was glad the alien ship's sensors/transporter had chosen the Jefferson's CScO instead of him. Zimmerman awaited direct orders from Captain Smith, busying himself with the problem of finding the alien ship.

OFF: Hey, Kevin! How I'm glad to see ya, friend! ;-) Let me try to guess how you've got on El Sal, m'kay?
ON: *Soon after Dimítrij Fos departured from SB Conqueror, SB Conqueror.*
Kevin entered the shuttlebay. He knew that Dimítrij had just departed, and he wondered if there were any other shuttles left. But there was another shuttle. Kevin asked its pilot about transportation, and soon they left the station.
*Some minutes after «Antares' Ray» landed on USS Jefferson, near two ships' location.*
Another shuttle exited warp just near USS El Salvador. It was thier luck that they did not got just into a string nearby.
«Lock transporters on them, quick! To the shuttlebay!» El Sal's CO ordered. <I'm not sure about that possibility, but I saw in a movie «ST: Nemesis» that the whole fighter had been transported to Enterprise's shuttlebay.>
The shuttle with El Sal's new CScO disappeared in space and appeared right in the shuttlebay.
Soon after that Kevin reported to the bridge.
OFF: And now the mission continues.
ON: Dimítrij closed his eyes for a moment. That's too much! Now they've stolen Mike, and El Sal entered one of the strings to follow the aliens. Brrrr! Dimítrij thought that he would have a one week fiesta after that all would finish.
«Sir, it looks like El Sal successfully entered another dimension – or whatever there is – just after the alien vessel.» Dimítrij reported.
«Uhm… Do you have their speed, course and angle of entering?» Matthew asked.
«Yes. Ms Naeli, get 'em» Dimítrij tapped some buttons on his console checking the readings and redirecting them to helm. With their CScO away, he had to act as two men… At least for the moment.
«Naeli, take us into this thing. I want my Science back!» angry smile flashed on cmdr Matthew's face.
«Aye, aye!» Xio slowly turned the ship and headed her just into the string. Dimítrij imagined how it could be seen of outside: a beautiful ship, like a proud bird, with hers name «USS Jefferson» and registry number NCC-750076 on the saucer, with shining warp nacelles, elegantly flying just into the middle of uncertainty… «And who said that Prometheus class is more beautiful than Sovereign? Heh!» Dimítrij thought.
«One more second… Entering!» Xio said. Dimítrij prepared… Nothing happened. At least, he hadn't felt anything. Silence covered the bridge.
«So-o?» Matthew drawled.
Dimítrij tapped his console, making a scan of the surrounding space. One thing made him glad, but other… He grew cold with terror.
«Sir! I've detected El Sal nearby. No trace of the alien vessel.»
«Do they think they'll be able to get rid of us? Ha! Never!» Matthew replied. «Is it possible to find them?»
«I don't know… Sir, I have another news.» Dimítrij looked straight at Commander.
«What?» Matthew didn't like Dimítrij's look.
«Sir… There're nowhere any strings or something like that around us.»
Everybody looked at Dimítrij fearfully.
«It means…» Xio started.
«That we can't return back.» Aral finished.
Dimítrij started to grasp feverishly. If that alien ship entered their space, it means that there was a way out, but where and how did it look like?..
«I think we have a way back… But I doný know what is it and where is it…» Dimítrij's voice fell to whisper.
«Sir, El Sal is hailing us»
«On screen»
The face of Capt. Smith appeared on the viewscreen.
«Hmm, interesting situation we have here, isn't it?» he sadly smiled.
«Yeah, if not to count that our Chief Science has been stolen by the alien ship, and we do not see any way back or way to find the aliens…» Matthew replied and took a deep breath «And that our captain is in the sickbay.»
«Aah, really… Maybe, our new CScO, Mr. Zimmerman, will be able to help…» Capt Smith started.
«What, Kevin?! But how?..» Dimítrij shouted gladly (he wanted to say «But how did he get there?»), but stopped when Matthew and Smith looked at him, surprised. «I'm sorry, sir…» Dimítrij tried to apologize.
«Do you know him?» Matthew asked.
«Yes, we were in Academy together… We're friends.» Dimítrij replied. He was ill at ease that he shouted, but he was so glad that Kevin was in the ship nearby!
«So, we have another «bridge» between our ships!» Smith said, and it seemed to Dimítrij that the captain winked at him…
OFF: So, who have any ideas?.. BTW: Do we have crazy Chief Engineer? :-| Or what species is he?..

After the little 'talk' between the El Sal and the Jefferson, Steve shut off the channel. He was feeling all kinds of emotions at this point. He was angry that the Jefferson's CScO had been abducted for a start.....Why him and no-one else? It didnt make sense. He was also saddened for the same reason.
He turned on his heel and took his place in the center seat.
"Ok everyone, our main priority is to locate the Jefferson's Chief of Science. Then we need to eliminate the threat and get the hell out of here." He said, strongly, with no hint of emotion in his voice. Things had to be set in motion now, as time was of the essence.
"Mr Savot, initiate both a long-range and short-range scan of this area. Any indication of the alien vessels would be a great help right now." He ordered.
"Aye sir. Initiating scans." Savot replied.
Steve nodded to himself, and stood up out of his chair, and walked up to the Tactical station.
"Miss Lucas," He said, noticing how odd it felt to call her that, and not 'Remeti', "I want you to keep in touch with the CTSO of the Jefferson and co-ordinate our efforts. One way or another, we WILL suceed!" He added.
"Yes Ste....um...sir." She replied, awkwardly.
Steve had noticed the stutter, and smiled. He put his hand and her shoulder and gently rubbed it.
"Its ok." He said to her softly so that no-one else would hear.
He patted he shoulder once lightly and then removed his hand, and went back to his chair, pondering their next move.

OFF: I don't want to start off on this trend without permission, so I'll quickly explain my idea with the strings, aliens, etc. The Federation has encountered a "Mirror Universe" multiple times. Some examples are a TOS episode (forget the name), a Next Generation book called "Dark Mirror" and a video game called "Star Trek: Shattered Universe." In this mirror universe, history is at more or less the same point as our own, but different actions have taken place over the history of each universe. In that specific universe, the Federation is an Empire that has wiped out, assimilated, or controlled all close civilizations. To get from that universe to our own, something called "hyperstrings" had to be "plucked" while close to or in "harmony" with one another. The "hyperstrings" from that universe to our own were destroyed to prevent travel between our universe and the other, in order to stop the Empire from conquering our Federation. So, my theory is this - The El Salv and the Jefferson have tried to follow the alien ship into their universe, but the aliens (and the two Federation ships) lacked sufficent power to pluck the strings hard enough and move quick enough to move directly from one universe to the next. Therefore, the alien ship got to their universe on the last "vibration" of the chord, right before the El Salv came in, and another wave will be along shortly. The only thing about this story line is it will involve us capturing the ship so we can use their technology to bring us back home. That will take a long time, and the likelyhood of both ships making it back is slim - because the ships must be opperating at full power in order to get to our universe, and the confrontation with the other ship is probably going to be violent. However, the details adressed here, such as minimum power needed to get home, could be overlooked.
P.S. Hey, Mike, the one that got abducted, it is possible for a ship to be eaten like a pie. A gigantic single celled organism ate an entire solar system for lunch and then had the U.S.S. Interprid for dessert. (Biblyography: Q's guide to the Continuum)

Harrias was in shock. He knew that they had just travelled through the 'string' as they were calling it, and he had received a warning for the CNO about 10 seconds before they had gone through, which had given him time to convince everyone in engineering to brace themselves. That was something the damn CO of a ship never thought about. He may yell Brace for impact for everyone on the bridge, but the rest of the crew didn't hear it, didn't know what was about to happen. Stupid damn COs... him included when he had been one.
However, short of a couple of bumps, bruises and grazes, everyone was fine. On the other hand, the engine readings, well they weren't so fine. Him and Kivan were leaning over the readouts that had been taken, trying to figure out what had happened. From the looks of things, they had travelled at Warp 10. That made sense, in a way. The string could have been a transwarp conduit. However, the power levels of the warp engine had been off the chart too. This had made Harrias ponder two issues. The first was that he should get bigger charts. The second was, that as far as he could tell, their own engines had propelled them to Warp 10. That was when the thrid interesting fact came into play. Their engines had been turned off through the whole trip. There wasn't any anti-hydrogen supply to the engines. And without an anti-hydrogen supply? Well, there shouldn't be any Warp.
The trill promptly hit the console twice to see if it was just a bad readout, but no... it appeared that the damn thing was giving the right readout. Ah well, another impossibilty that was for the moment unsolved. He tapped his commbadge, to tell Captain Smith about the fourth problem.
=/\= Umm, Captain. I'm not sure you want to hear this, but during our little journey back then, we managed to run through our whole supply of cold deuterium. That is to say, unless the USS Jefferson has a damn lot spare, we are stuck here. Not just in this... universe or whatever, but in this exact spot. =/\=

=/\= Max Power here. I have some very interesting news. Do you know, what speed have we reached while going through the string? Warp 10. Think of it. Max Power out. =/\=
The people on Jefferson's bridge exchanged glanses. Xio looked at her console with surprise.
«Sir, I even had not powered up the warp engines. We, as El Sal and as that alien, entered on full impulse… At least, I've set up that speed…» she looked at Matthew.
«Yes, and our ship just can't fly on warp 10.» Dimítrij added. He ran quick test of all systems. Everything was all right except… Dimítrij's face became pale, he turned to Matthew. «Sir… I have very bad news. Almost whole our supply of cold deuterium is out. We have only spare, in conainers with the containment field…» Dimítrij checked status of those conainers. Yes, deuterium was intact. «Yes, it's all right. But… We should not roam around with such amount.»
Suddenly the face of capt Smith appeared on the viewscreen.
«Hi, Jefferson. Maybe you have some spare deuterium?..»
Matthew, who hadn't digressed from the news yet, reasked first: «What?.. Oh, yeah, we have it, but we have no our main supply.»
Smith's look became sad. «So… That string took your deuterium too?.. I see…»
Suddenly another idea came up to Dimítrij (maybe, in that dimension brain works better, Dimítrij wondered).
«Sir» he addresses to Smith «Did you have any deuterium in these new containers with containment field?»
Smith was really surprised, as was Matthew. «What?» they asked simultaneously. «What containers?» Matthew continued.
Now Dimítrij was surprised. «I… I don't know… Didn't you received them on starbase or somewhere?.. I see you have upgraded weapons and navigation systems a bit… I thought that those containers you've got with the upgrades?..»
Silence.
«Strife!..» Aral whispered and smiled.
«It looks like we have this deuterium only because of that clever engineer… or not an engineer… who've installed these fields!» Dimítrij noticed.
«Yes!» Kevin's voice appeared from behind Smith «Maybe that string have a property to destruct deuterium's moleculae… And the containment field in some way preserved spare deuterium from being destructed…»
«Great!» Smith was angry «And what shall we do now? Construct a rocket drive?»
«Why not…» Dimítrij murmured. Matthew looked at him by the corner of his eye and raised an eyebrow a bit, just like a Vulcan… «Strange» Dimítrij thought and turned to his console…

Off: Been out a coupla days, just catching up. Thought we needed a lil area description.
On:
I have nae e'er seen anythin like this b'fore.
::The smallish woman says, standing off nearish the Ops station. She gazes at the image screen like one amazed. She never imagined that something like this could be out there. Especially a moment like this when things are dire...what she sees is beyond simple beauty.::
::The ships rest in the midst of a nebula that fairly glitters. Colors of every imaginable description, and a few colors never before seen. The threads streak across the colored heavens like multicolored flashings of molten light. The Roanoke is still out there, as is now the officer from the Jefferson. Deis risks saying something else as her words like to draw contridictions::
Captain...is it nae possible t fly a shuttle out there. They are more maneuverable than a ship o this size. Look :: pointing to the screen:: All o these threads follow a direction...this has some plan t it. Tis almost like we see th energies o' a machine. Wha if th strings be generatin this place??
::she feels the shuddering stop with everyone else and the comms speak to the Captain::
Well now it seems tha we 'ave lil choice Sir.

"We're a Soverign class starship, with weapons to destroy a moon, sensors to moniter the stars, and medical equitment to heal many ailments- and you say we should build a rocket engine?" Aral said incredulesly to Dimitrij. He winked as he said so.
"No one else seems to be putting anything foreward!" The young man said, he forced a smile although he was clearly very apprehensive about the whole situation.
"You look worried, kid. You shouldn't be." Aral said, suprised that his voice sounded like a war-veteran marching into a bar after a trench-battle. He wasn't truly so confident.
"And why not?" Dimitrij said with a wrinkled brow, "Seems to me like we could be stuck here for years!"
Aral forced the conversation, but he didn't know why, "We've gotten out of tougher ones. I'll tell ya! Once these telapethic beings tried to trap the whole crew in this little room and then they told us it would be our new home because we couldn't tell starfleet about their existence! And I tell you- THAT was a sticky situation, the cap'n had to-" Suddenly he stopped in his tracks. Dimitrij was looking at him with a sour look. Aral was being an absolute idiot.
"My apolagies, Ensign. This is indeed a bad situation. I don't know what got into me."
"No need, sir. There is stress to consider."
"I suppose we should concentrate on our job then." Then Aral gave a violent shiver. He hadn't even thought about Mike. He was gone. Out there somewhere in the void of darkness dotted with beautiful color. It was so contrasting!
A transmission came in from the El Sal.
"Incoming message from the El Salvador, sir." Naeli said to Matthews.
"On screen!"
"Jefferson, we're taken a shuttle out, to get a better idea of whats out there. What do you want to do?"
"We'll stay here, we need to consider our options. Keep us updated." Matthews said. Aral motioned for Xio to mute the transmission, and then turned to Matthews.
"Sir..... James.... if Strife was here she would've forced her way onto that shuttle, to find Mike. Since she's not here to do it- I have to go. Please, sir. Let me join the shuttle crew." After a few moments of steely gaze, Matthews softened his look.
"Yes, Mr. Gibson. Go. But don't take risks." As Aral found a officer to take his station he heard James mutter, "The cap'n's going to kill me.... RE-ENGAGE AUDIO!"
"Audio re-egaged." Xio said. Smith looked annoyed.
"Done?" He said, sarcasticly.
"Yes, Mr. Gibson is going to join your team."
"Alright, have him beam over quickly so we can get a move on."
"Alright. Jefferson out." James looked at Aral, "Get moving man."
"Thank you, sir!" Aral said and rushed into the turbolift.
~A few minutes later~
"Cmdr. Aral Gibson reporting for duty." Aral stood on the El Sal bridge, looking eager to begin.

Hearing about the shuttle, Harrias immediately made his way to the shuttlebay. He had no idea who was going on that shuttle, but he knew he should be on it. After all, unless Max Power was hitching a ride, there would be no engineer on board. Judging from what had been going on so far, the trill had decided that this was maybe not the best idea. And with all due respect to Mr Power, who he was sure was a very good officer, Harrias outranked him by a fair few ranks, and it was an El Salvadorian shuttle, so he was the most logical choice.
Regardless, he suspected he would have to convince someone that he should be on the thing. He was confident that Kivan could handle anything that the El Sal threw at him during Harrias' absence, so that shouldn't be a concern. The trill looked up, having being walking without looking where he had been going, and found that he was in the shuttlebay. He saw activity over by one of the runabouts, and he jogged across the large room to the team. The first person he saw was Cmdr Gibson, who appeared to have volunteered himself, much as Harrias was attempting to do.
"Commander. Who's in charge in there?"
OOC: Don't know who is in charge of the shuttle, so I'll just leave it there...

"No idea. I'm just coming along to help. But we should probably get moving fairly quickly." Aral then added mostly to himself, "Mike's out there somewhere....."
"Well, let us ready the shuttle until the rest arrive." Harrias marched into the shuttle. Aral was still muttering to himself when he realized that the other officer was gone.
"Oh, right!" Aral hurried after him.
