Jefferson Main Bridge
As the rest of the officers filed out of the meeting room, before heading off to start there Shore leave Cmdr Matthew followed them out and made his way back into the Main Bridge. Making his way directly towards the command chairs, he situated himself in the XO's chair.
Commodore Loskene sitting in his command Chair make some quick checks with the dock master before heading to his Ready room while Matthew was left to handled things on the bridge . He turned to the terminal to the right of his chair and pulled up the latest status reports.
Foremost on the report were the latest results from the Jefferson repair work. Cmdr Matthew nodded in approval when he noted that the ship would be ready for the orbital scanning Test tomorrow morning.
He had to admit that he was not looking forward to this Boring Standard system test.
Looking over the current specs of the ship, James frowned slightly at the lack of warp power available. He tapped into the Engineering requisitions database and discovered that the dilithium replacement crystals, as well as the other needed equipment to get the Jefferson fully functional, were on order and were scheduled for delivery within two weeks.
Thinking that this was actually a major concern, he tapped out a short report listing a number of items their inventory was sorely lacking. What if they were in some conflict and needed to repair some ship quickly? They would be stuck. He wanted to make sure that nothing like that occurred. After finishing the report, he sent copies both to Loskene and Power noting his ideas and recommendations, then closed down the file.
Noticing the time display on the terminal, he got up from his seat and began making his rounds to the various stations on the Bridge . As he came upon the Operations area, he noticed the flow of various ships coming in, whether from the wormhole or from the normal space lanes. Noticing a display to the Ensign's left, he saw that a civilian transport hailing from Betazed was just now entering orbit.
Thinking of Betazed took him back decades ago, when he and his parents had lived there. It had been years since he last visited relatives there...since before his parents had been....taken...supposedly assimilated by the Borg.
James made a mental note to send a message to his relatives back home, to reestablish contact with some of his last surviving relatives. Touching the display, he idly pulled up the transport's manifest and gave himself quite a shock.
The first two passengers listed were Trianna and Keren Krogan...his aunt and uncle from his mother's side of the family.
Was it just a coincidence that they had traveled to Connell? Did they even know he was here? He made a mental note where their ship would be landing at the spaceport and decided to go and surprise them when they disembarked later.
After checking in with the other departments, James climbed up the short steps and went towards Hobbes' office. Noticing the Commodore was alone he touched the annunciator and heard Loskene' voice calling for him to enter. Loskene looked up and smiled. "What can I do for you, Commander ?"
"Sir," he said, coming to stand in front of the desk. "I've got some relatives just arriving here . I'd like to request the afternoon off to go and meet them if I may."
Loskene nodded. "Go ahead," he said. "We've got things covered here...but make sure you report to the Jefferson bright and early in the morning."
James smiled and nodded. "Thank you, sir...I will," he said, turned around quickly, then headed out to the main bridge .
