Marko could only watch in shear horror as Miller was suddenly shot by one of the klingon projectile weapons. Death looked instantaneous, he just hoped she hadn’t suffered any pain. Marko was wondering why Klingons and Cardassians would be working together, it was a strange site. Marko was forcefully moved from his console by one of the massive klingons and ushered to the centre of the Bridge. Carl was the next to fall foul of the klingon’s strength as he was thrust across the command chairs in a heap. Marko froze on the spot unsure of what to do or how to get out of this situation as one of the cardasian’s prodded the but of his weapon into Marko’s pack ushering him forward.
Marko watched James casually converse with the leader of this little band, a burly klingon. Marko cursed as he thought James was somehow in on it all, when he walked over to the Ops Console, as he did he received a punch in the gut and folded over, maybe the intelligence officer wasn’t as bad as he first thought… Recovering quickly James said something which Marko didn’t quite understand.
"The Admiral and I both know that the Alliance will not dare declare open war with our side,"
What the hell is the Alliance, Marko had never heard of it. Must be an intelligence thing he surmised, Mc had said he used to work in Intelligence. As the commotion continued and the Klingon made some slur about the Scavenger, Marko knew that was a ship at least as the computer suddenly boomed:
"Command confirmed."
Marko turned and watched, it was Carl who had given the order and locked them out of the ship’s systems. The klingon commander tried to get Mc to order Carl to reverse his command but Marko knew that wasn’t going to happen as Carl smirked even with blood running from his mouth. The klingon roared in aggression.
“Have it your way Admiral.” He said turning to the bridge crew, Marko felt himself being thrust forward by his guard.
“You leave me no choice but to execute the hostages. Starting with you…” He sadistically laughed while pointing at Marko.
“I am going to count to 3, Commander – unlock the ship’s systems or I will kill them all one by one.”

Looking at the Klingon leader .. Torek had one distinct thought .. 'He means to do as he says' ...
"One ....."
Carl looked from Mc, his Commanding Officer, who, could at any time put a stop to the count, by simply 'ordering' Carl to do as he was told .. Then to Commander Ramius ..
Marko was staring right into the eyes of the Klingon. Totally ignoring the weapon that was about to end his life .. Carl admired the man's courage .. He wasn't sure he could hold 'his' composure at the moment, let alone the Ops Officer ..
"What do you want with the Raven ?" the Admiral said, trying to step toward the Klingon, but being held beck by one of the others ..
"Can I kill this dog now Kornath ?" the man said to the Klingon leader ..
"NO ... Leave him be ! ... So .. Are you going to release the Raven's computer ?" he finished, looking directly at Mc 7, not Torek.
"What guarantee's have we that no-one will be armed ?" Mc asked, obviously stalling for time ..
"None ..." Kornath said, then seemingly remembering where he was in the count ..
"Two ....."
"Captain Kornath .. Killing one more person on this ship will get you a 'hulk' .. You will never get control of the Raven .. No matter HOW many people you massacre !" Marko said defiantly.
Torek was keeping Mc in his line of sight .. The second 'or less as it happens' thought Carl wryly, he says STOP, I'll have no recourse but to give the ship over ... Time seemed to have slowed down, each second was taking longer and longer .. This was of course an illusion, it was just the mind working so much faster to resolve an issue given a strict time-scale .. The Admiral had been watching the Klingon, and seemed to have come to a decision .. 'None too soon' thought Torek as he heard Kornath speak ...
"THREE ... !" said the Klingon, beginning to put the four ounces of pressure on the trigger that would discharge his weapon, and kill Ramius .. But in the same instant, Mc shouted ..
"WAIT !" shouted Mc ..
The Klingon eased his finger on the trigger, then grinning, lowered the weapon less than one degree .. It was still pointing at Marko's face, and was steady as the proverbial rock, as Kornath looked at the Admiral ..
"You have something to say ... Admiral ?" ..........

You have something to say ... Admiral ?
The menace in the Klingons voice was no longer merely an intimation, but was overt. Before Mc7 had the chance to say anything, James spoke.
Admiral, I believe it would be in the best interests of all concerned if you ordered the Commander to release his lock out on the computer.
Your advice is good, but if you speak out of turn again, it wont be this one, the burly Klingon said, nodding towards Marko, that will be the next to die.
Enough!
Everyone on the Bridge was surprised by the Admirals sudden shout. This was the first time that almost everyone on the Bridge had heard him raise his voice in a public forum, so that added to the surprise.
There has been enough death already today. Carl, release the computer lock out. Captain James, remain silent unless you are asked to speak.
Carl spoke next, though not to a person, but rather the computer. Seconds later, full computer control was returned throughout the Raven.
I've given you what you wanted, now please do not harm any more of my crew.
I made no such promise.
Came the gruff reply. One of the Klingons moved over to the Ops post and hit a few buttons on the now reactivated console and the world began to fade for the Starfleet crew on the Bridge.
Moments later they all materialised in one of the larger cells in the Raven's Brig. All but one that had been on the Bridge were now prisoners within their own ship.

The tension on the bridge built as the massive klingon drilled his weapon into Marko’s skull. Just the force from the weapon being pressed against his head made him wince in pain. Marko just stared right at the klingon and his soulless eyes as he began his count, everything seemed to move incredibly slow – with every slightest movement taking an age, with only a second actually passing.
Witnessing the exchange between the klingon, Mc & Carl, Marko was still as assured in his safety. He was disappointed in himself being used as a hostage and meaning that the klingons would gain control of the ship, if Mc or Carl stepped in which they would, or so he hoped.
"THREE ... !" Roared the Klingon, Marko shut his eyes in preparation for the inevitable click of the trigger and the end of his life. Then with only milliseconds to spare Mc yelled "WAIT !", Marko sighed in relief as the klingon pulled his weapon back only a fraction. James then interrupted the klingon once more, angering him and the klingon pressed his weapon against Marko’s forehead once more as Mc shouted.
“Enough! There has been enough death already today. Carl, release the computer lock out. Captain James, remain silent unless you are asked to speak.”
Marko was not the only officer to be surprised by Mc’s reaction, he had never heard Mc raise his voice before. The Captain always spoke in a calm and collected manner even when angry, but not in this instance. Carl immediately obliged and released his computer lock, then the klingon’s smiled as one approached the ops console and Marko recognised him tap the site to site transport command. The familiar sound of the transporters rang in his ears and then they were in one of the larger cells in the Raven's Brig.
Marko could breathe easily now, “I’m sorry I was used to get you to release your lockdown Carl.” He said turning to his XO.
(Tag Carl)
Once Carl had responded, he began a head count to find out who was missing, Marko just knelt down along one of the walls of the brig and sat with his head in his hands. He had come so close to death but he felt like he had now cost the crew the Raven.

"I've given you what you wanted .. Now please do not harm any more of my crew." Mc said.
"I made no such promise." Kornath grinned, raising a finger to one of his men.
Carl felt the tell-tale grip of the transporter beam, and managed to stand as it took hold .. Micro-seconds later, he, along with the others from the Bridge, re-materialized ..They were in one of the large holding cells in the Brig .. Looking through the force-field, Carl could see a lone Cardassian sitting at the console. He was idly playing with his phaser ..
"Open this cell." Carl ordered, having to spit blood from his mouth from the split gum.
"Be quiet .. Earther." was all the Cardassian replied, before returning to his study.
"I’m sorry I was used to get you to release your lock-down Carl." Marko said, apologetically.
"Forget it .. He would have used someone .. It was just your lucky day." Carl replied, tapping the Operations Chief on the shoulder.
"Check everyones here." Mc ordered.
Torek and Ramius did a roll-call ...
"Captain James is missing !" Carl said.
"He's in with the Klingon's then ?" the duty Helm Officer said, puzzled.
"Good question." Mc said, looking at Carl ..........

"Forget it .. He would have used someone .. It was just your lucky day." Carl replied, tapping the Marko on his shoulder. The tap on the shoulder was enough to pull Marko out of his own self – pitty and begin to think about the fine mess they had gotten themselves into.
Marko forced a smile, he was not happy about being used as a bargaining chip but Carl was right it could have been any of them, as Mc ordered a headcount – Marko worked with Carl to double check everyone was there. "Captain James is missing !" Carl said. Marko silently nodded to confirm that James was not with them.
"He's in with the Klingon's then ?" the duty Helm Officer said, puzzled.
Marko nodded not in agreement, but out of necessity – it did appear that James must be somehow involved with the Klingons and the things he said, about the Alliance and the Scavenger. Slowly the events leading up to their confinement became clear to him, before it was as if he had blacked out and had little recollection of what had actually happened. Suddenly Mc answered;
"Good question." Mc said, looking at Carl ..........
Marko took the opportunity as everyone was silent in thought to approach Mc, looking at his superior before asking – concerned that he may be told it was confidential but given the circumstances he felt they had a right to know what was going on.
“Sir, I have to ask what was James talking about who are the Alliance, I’ve never come across the term in my time in StarFleet? And Klingons and Cardassians working together, I thought they hated one another?”
Marko noticed most of the confined bridge crew turn as he asked Mc a question that everyone was desperate to know the answer too. Marko drew back every so slightly hoping he hadn't asked a question out of turn.

Sir, I have to ask what was James talking about who are the Alliance, I’ve never come across the term in my time in StarFleet? And Klingons and Cardassians working together, I thought they hated one another?
The question came to Mc7 from the Raven's Operations Office, and since the Bridge had been taken moments ago it was one which he had been expecting. The question he was now asking himself inside was, just how much to tell the now captive crew.
I need everyone to listen up. You made have heard comments when we were on the Bridge about the Alliance. What I'm about to tell you all is classified information, and may not be discussed with anyone. For a period of time now Starfleet has been aware of a parallel Universe which for some reason is linked with ours. In the parallel Universe, which is also known as the Mirror Universe, is ruled by an Alliance made up of the Klingons and Cardassians. There have been a number of incidents where inhabitants of the parallel Universe have crossed over into ours, and vice versa. It now appears that we are in the middle of another of these incidents.
Since Captain James is not here, we can only assume that he is the person who has aided the Alliance to capture the Raven. We must ensure he pays for this treachery. To do that, we must find a way out of this cell. That is your number one priority. Carl, make it happen.
There were a few surprised looks around the room at Mc7 not having mentioned retaking the Raven, but everyone knew he was right. They would not be able to do anything while they were stuck in a holding cell, so that did indeed need to be their first priority.
Once the Admiral had finished speaking, Carl set about devising a plan of action to free the trapped crew and fulfil their CO's command.

Mc explained what the alliance was and the mirror universe and klingons working with cardassians. It was difficult to follow, some of the bridge crew gasped in surprise – Marko just stood deathly silent listening to his Captain. Things had not gone as Marko had expected from the Raven going on a routine science mission to an invasion from a mirror universe. Marko perked his ears up as Mc began to give his orders to the confined crew.
Since Captain James is not here, we can only assume that he is the person who has aided the Alliance to capture the Raven. We must ensure he pays for this treachery. To do that, we must find a way out of this cell. That is your number one priority. Carl, make it happen.
Marko nodded as Mc spoke and when he mentioned Captain James and his treachery it made Marko's blood boil! Trying to concentrate on the task at hand, Marko immediately approached Carl, listening to Mc speak he began to formulate plans on getting them out of their predicament. He neared Carl and stood close to him to ensure the cardassian guard outside the cell could not hear them.
“The way I see it we don’t have many options. It is safe to assume that the alliance controls the majority of the ship. Perhaps there are some crewmen who have evaded capture but our comm. badges are locked out so we have no means of communicating.”
Marko exchanged a quick glance with Carl as the XO nodded for him to continue…
“Okay for getting us out of this cell, we can either feign an injury to one of us for instance one of us could fall over and the others could call for help. We could try to override the control panel which controls the forcefield but I am unsure of how we’d do that. I cannot think of much else, what about you Carl?”
Marko asked Carl as he had come up with all he could think of at that moment, they were not guaranteed solutions but to him they were the only options.

They had been in the cell for several hours ...
"The way I see it .." Marko began, but as Carl listened, he was watching the Cardassian guard .. "We can either feign an injury to one of us for instance one of us could fall over and the others could call for help .. We could try to override the control panel which controls the forcefield but I am unsure of how we’d do that .. I cannot think of much else .. What about you Carl ?....." Ramius asked the Executive Officer, frowning when he saw that he didn't seem to be listening, "Commander ?"
"Is it me .." Carl said, watching the guard closely, "Or is he unconscious ?"
Mc, Marko, along with several others in the cell looked over to the Cardassian ..
"Hey ... HEY .. We need help in here !" Mc said, but got no response.
Suddenly, the outer door of the Brig slid open .. Hugging the bulkhead, phaser in hand, McLean entered, then edged along the wall to check on the downed man .. Satisfied he was completely out, Scott walked over the the cell ...
"Room service." he said, de-activating the force-field ..
"Scott you're a sight for sore eyes." Mc said, "How did you manage this ?"
"Well .. Benson owned up to being the CEO .. So I was practically ignored .. I bled the oxygen from this part of the Brig .. Couldn't do it too quickly or that guy wouldn't have simply 'passed out' .. He'd have raised the alarm."
"OK .. Good work Scott." Carl said, "Now .. I'd think the intruders won't have much need for us at the moment .. They have the Raven and full control .. So I guess we have until someone comes to relieve him." Torek finished, pointing to the Cardassian, now disarmed and in one of the smaller cells ..
"Scott." Mc said, "Can you get back to Engineering unseen ?"
"Shouldn't be a problem .. There's not that many of them wandering the ship .. Those that are are seemingly pretty lax .. They have the ship and the crew secured .. So no need to be edgy i suppose." he finished, shrugging.
"OK .. Scott .. You and three others head back and wait for an opportunity .. Someone needs to go and see whats happening in Sick-bay .. Carl and myself will head to the Auxiliary computer core .. Don't do anything to attract attention !" Mc said ...
"How come we don't just take the oxygen from all the ship ?" the duty Navigation Officer asked, puzzled.
"It would be noticed too easily .. Someone would have time to react." Carl said ..
Slowly, the group headed for the door .. There was a Jeffries tube across the corridor, they needed to get everyone into that first ...
Checking the cost was clear, Scott ran across the corridor and leapt into the Jeffries tube, closely followed by two of the crew ..
As the next started to step toward the tube, they heard a voice ..
"HEY ! ... What are you doing ?" It was Klingon, obviously one of the people charged with checking the corridors, "Where did you come from ?" he said, reaching the now terrified young woman.
"I .. Well .." she began, then Carl heard a thud .. "Help me." the woman whispered as she tried to drag the unconscious form into the Brig, rubbing her hand vigorously as she let the man fall to the floor ..
"I train !" the girl said in way of an explanation, as she noticed Torek and the Captain looking at her.
Silently, they moved the Klingon into a cell, then one by one, entered the Jeffries tubes ...
It was time they got their ship back ! ..........

Marko was still theorising on possible ways of freeing the group from the Brig as the Cardassian guarding the cell fell to the floor with a thud. What the… he thought as the doors to the Brig swished open and out popped McLean with his phaser, before long the group were freed from the Brig.
"OK .. Scott .. You and three others head back and wait for an opportunity .. Someone needs to go and see whats happening in Sick-bay .. Carl and myself will head to the Auxiliary computer core .. Don't do anything to attract attention !" Mc said ...
“I’ll head with Scott down to Engineering, Sir.” Marko volunteered as he turned to Scott for his approval, the former Chief Engineer nodded. Mc nodded silently; “Okay Marko and Scott, take Ensign Riggs with you too…”
They quickly left the rest of the group in the Brig and headed for Engineering via a nearby Jefferies tube. Marko approached the tube entrance, and turned to Scott. “You lead the way Chief, I don’t know how to get us there from the Brig. I tend not to frequent deck 15 very often.” He smiled casually, Marko stilled referred to McLean as Chief as in his eyes his demotion was only a temporary thing and the wrong decision in his mind.
(Tag Scott)
With McLean explaining that he was no longer the Chief Engineer, Marko just shrugged as the three of them crawled through the Jefferies tube up 3 decks to deck 11, Scott opened the Jefferies tube hatch to check that the coast was clear.
“Its clear, follow me.”
Marko and Riggs followed Scott as they slowly made their way along deck 11 and to Engineering. It was eerily quiet, reaching the main entrance Marko peeked his head around the door there were several Klingons ordering the Engineers around it seemed they were using the engineers to maintain the warp engines.
“Any ideas on how we join the Engineers without being spotted?” Marko asked turning to McLean and Riggs.

The past few days had been a tight and sweaty time for him. When the Klingon had beam on the bridge he dived into the conference room that was by the science station and quickly into the Jefferies' tube there and closed the panel.
'Computer, remove my combadge from the detection grid and post me not arrived yet and ignore my thermal image until next ordered, no verbal confirm.' he ordered.
He quietly move deeper into the tube and away from the room. He heard the door open and somebody move to the panel and check it. He turned the corner and stop.
Hes mind was working fast, the Klingon Armour was all wrong, the house crest was wrong for this part of Federation space. Be he had no time to warn the Admiral of that fact. These Klingons wouldn't understand him being of this ship and not in command.
He got out his tricorder and PaDD keeping the scan frequency low mapped the movements of the invaders. He had only left the tube briefly in his quarters to pack his few personal belongings, leaving the clothes and other general items that could apply to anybody. He check and got the isolinear chip that his Father had passed him just after Graduation.
He hid his weapons on his body and moved out. Avoiding the invaders was easy because his sixth sense was working over time, because he knew he would be killed if found.
The 2nd day he had got tot he armory and got a bag full of hand phasers and disappeared backing to the tubes deleting the record of entry and moved to the brig area and waited.
He was just waiting in the tube over the security entrance to the cells eating a K-Ration when guards entered the crew appeared out of the cell. He dropped down with the bag of phasers and K-Ration in his mouth in front of the Admiral.

“Any ideas on how we join the Engineers without being spotted?” Marko asked turning to McLean and Riggs.
McLean cracked a devilish smile, “Easy.” He said pointing to the gold collar that they all were wearing. McLean prepared to make his move when suddenly a new thought came to him, he stopped himself and turned to face Ramius.
“What?” Ramius asked trying to figure out what was wrong.
McLean reached out in the direction of Ramius’ neck, catching the OPS officer by surprised. He quickly figured out what McLean was up to and when it was all said and done Ramius was back to being a Ensign.
McLean hoped that he didn’t have to explain as to why having more than one Commander down in Main Engineering would cause suspicion with the intruders, “Lets go.”
McLean led the way back around a few consoles and at the right moment he jumped in with an engineering detail checking minor ships system.
”Sir, what are you doing here?” McLean was quietly asked by one of the enlisted engineers.
“Where is Commander Benson?” McLean asked.
“I don’t know sir. The Klingons took him away just after you slipped away.” The engineer looked around for a second and then turned back to face McLean, “Sir you had better lose you pips they took all the officers to cargo bay one.”
McLean looked around he then quickly pulled his pips from his collar and placed them under the console they were working at. He hoped that Ramius and Riggs had heard the news and had followed his lead.
“Who’s in charge right now?” McLean asked.
“Besides the Klingons?” Cracked the enlisted engineer, “I guess that’d be you sir.”
“Don’t call me sir.” McLean said quickly.
“Yes sir.” The enlisted man said in a knee jerk reaction.
McLean gave the enlisted man an angry eye but let it go knowing that it was going to be hard for him to call McLean by his first name.
“Are the transporters still online?” McLean asked.
“No sir…Scott, I think they were afraid we would beam them out into space.”
“Get them back online,” McLean said with a malicious undertone in his voice, “Because that’s exactly what I want to do.”

“Easy.” Scott replied pointing at each of their uniforms – good point Marko laughed. Suddenly Scott turned to stare at Marko, becoming concerned Marko instinctively replied:
“What?” with a bemused look across his face.
Scott raised an outreached hand to Marko’s collar, realising the Engineer’s plan he pulled off 2 of his gold pips and placed them in his pocket. He was back to being an Ensign, it had been hard to remove his pips even if it was just a temporary measure. Marko and Riggs followed Scott back to the other Engineers who were working on maintaining the warp core. Marko listened to an Ensign briefing Scott, and watched as Scott pulled his pips from his collar and hid them beneath his console.
The Klingon guards paid little notice to them and the group seemed to have the run of the engineering, Scott gave the order to try and bring the transporters back online. “Get them back online,” Scott said with a malicious undertone in his voice, “Because that’s exactly what I want to do.” Marko nodded and added:
“Make sure they don’t detect what you are doing, if they do we abandon the plan.”
Marko walked over to a system console of his own, he tried to patch into the navigational controls. He wanted an idea of where the Alliance were taking the Raven and what their plans were for it… Tapping Scott on the shoulder, he ushered him over to help.
“Do you know these Klingons and Cardassians are from a mirror universe, they call themselves the alliance according to the Admiral. All this mirror universe stuff has me confused Scott, can you help me with this – I’m trying to access navigational control to see where they are taking the ship.”
(Scott)
Before Scott could answer, Marko’s actions had attracted the attentions of one of the klingons unbeknownst to him and Scott. The imposing klingon was behind them, Marko felt a tap on the shoulder and then he blacked out. Opening his eyes, he found himself on the floor of engineering, with the klingon standing over him. “You will do as you are told HUMAN, what were you doing? Conspiring to take back the ship.” He laughed, before returning to his patrol.
Scott gave Marko a hand back up to his feet, before returning to the progress of bringing the transporters online, fortunately for them all the klingon had not noticed the ensign working on the transporter systems. Marko turned to the ensign and to the former Engineering Chief: "Do you have an ETA on us having the transporters online?"

The climb from deck fifteen, up eight decks to the Auxiliary computer core was tiring to say the least .. Both men were fit, but having to dodge in and out of the access-ways and Jeffries tubes was awkward at times ...
Gaining access, Mc went straight to on of the consoles and started to input new commands ..
Nothing big, just very subtle sub-routines that will slow the Raven's passage through space, without pointing finger's at who or what the problem was ..
Carl set up a program that would run a level two diagnostic on the Helm, and several other 'key' systems within the next hour. he made sure to make the log appear that the diagnostics had been run at least three times previously, due to course management, and programming issues. They wouldn't believe it for more than a few minutes, but it was all they could do at the moment without risking someone getting killed .. He just hoped that whoever was dragged up to the Bridge would understand what Torek was attempting ..
Both Officer's ensured that no-one could trace the amended commands to the Auxiliary core, otherwise their advantage would be lost ..
It wouldn't be long before their escape would be noticed, so Mc and Carl did all they could in the short time they had .. Shortly, none of the major functions on the Raven would be behaving as it should. From the replicators, up to and including, weapons, navigation, and lastly life support, would all begin diagnostic routines .. Routines that supersede any manual commands ..
"OK .. Lets head back to the Security Office." Mc said.
"The internal force-fields ?" Carl asked, with a wry grin forming.
"Yes ..." Mc replied, "Let's hope that Scott and Marko are having some success too." he finished, starting the long climb back down to deck fourteen ..........

Scott stared down at the console before him, he was struggling to regain control of transporters that much was obvious and they had to be covert about it. Their guards were beginning to become suspicious of their actions and were watching the three of them very closely. Marko watched the former Chief as he tried to find a way to access the transporter systems. He knew that if anyone could find a way that it would be Scott his knowledge of the Raven’s systems was second to none.
Suddenly the red alert claxon rang out across Engineering, Marko cast Scott a blank look. “Did we do that?” He whispered to Scott.
Scott shook his head in silence, if it wasn’t them. Then who was it Marko thought, it could be the rest of the senior staff or maybe another Federation ship had intercepted the Raven and knew of their plight. The latter seemingly unlikely though, Marko feared for his crewmates across the Raven. He hated not knowing what was happening as Ops Officer he was always tied into all the ships systems and if someone sneezed he had a report about it.
(Tag Scott/All – Just to make things interesting why are we at Red Alert?)
The klingon and cardassian guards were as oblivious as Scott and Marko were to the klaxon with 2 of the cardassians running from Engineering to find out. Marko assumed they were heading for the bridge…
“Scott this could be the distraction we need to take Engineering.” Marko whispered as he looked across at the depleted guards now there was only 3 klingons guarding about 15 starfleet officers. The numbers were seriously in their favour but could they risk any more casualties.
“Have you managed to gain transporter control, even if you gain access to the transporters across parts of the ship, we could beam the guards out of engineering into space.”

"That one of ours ?"
"Yes .. I think so." replied the Admiral as they heard the Red Alert activate.
Grinning, Carl wondered what was happening up on the Bridge, and more seriously, just 'when' Kornath would realize it was the Raven's crew ..
As the two reached deck Fourteen, they stayed inside the Jeffries tube .. Both men could hear voices. At least two of the hi-jackers were in the Security Office ...
"Kornath is getting frustrated by the malfunctions." one was saying.
"I know .. I'm more than happy to be checking the prisoners .. I think he'll kill someone up there if things don't get back to normal."
On hearing the two were here to check on 'them' both Carl and Mc stiffened. There was no other choice now, they had to prevent them from reporting to the Klingon !
The lighting in the office suddenly dimmed ..
"What the ..."
"It's got to be connected to the malfunctions .. Forget it." the first man said moving toward the door to the holding cells. He was surprised when it didn't open.
Climbing slowly, and silently from the Jeffries tube, the two Federation Officers hugged the bulkhead. If the lighting returned to normal now, they would be sitting ducks. Mc pointed to the man on the left near the door, motioning Torek to move toward him as Mc headed for the other. But the computer chose that moment to initiate yet another malfunction ..
"Warning .. Outer hull breach .. Evacuate decks twelve .. Thirteen .. Fourteen .. Warning .. Hull breach !"
One of the men turned at the announcement. His eyes widened as he came face to face with the Admiral. Mc reacted instantly, throwing himself forward to land a blow to the mans face. But he wasn't quick enough ...
"THE CRE ..." he managed, before the punch silenced him.
Carl wasn't as close to his man, and he had time to turn, firing his weapon as Torek reached him ..
Torek felt a searing burn on his side as he 'fell' onto the man, pushing away the arm holding the phaser .. Both fell to the ground, pain screaming in his side, they struggled for a few seconds, before he heard a dull thud, and the Cardassians eyes took on a vacant stare before closing .. His body went limp as Mc pulled him off Carl ..
Trying to sit up, the pain almost made Torek pass out. But Mc was back and helped him to his feet .. Looking down, both could see the scorch mark on Carl's tunic, and the burn beneath ..
"Can you walk ?" the Admiral said, concerned about his friend.
After a few deep breaths, Torek gave a wry smile ..
"I'll be OK .. It was the proximity of the shot that caused the pain.
Both were silent for a second as they looked at the twenty centimeter hole in the far bulkhead .. Mc picked up the weapon and checked it over before looking at Carl ..
"Set to kill !" Mc stated, a little unnecessarily in Carl's view. Realizing how close the shot was, he was more than grateful that he hadn't been a few millimeters farther back .. The shot would have hit him square in the chest .. Killing him instantly !
"I'll secure these two." the Admiral said, bending to grab the unconscious man at his feet, "You set up the intermittent self-diagnostics on the internal force-fields .. With shields snapping into being all over the ship it should make for interesting times."
Carl moved over to the console, then holding his side with one hand, set to work ..........

McLean worked as fast as he could but it seemed that whatever was going on it was beyond his control. With each new command he imputed into the computer a new error came right back up to replace it, “I think it’s a virus.” McLean said to Ramius.
“What do you mean a virus?” Ramius said at a near shout over the sounds of the red alert alarms.
“Best guess is that somebody who knows our systems is trying to do what they can to make sure that the Raven doesn’t fall into enemy hands.” McLean said all the while sweat began to build up on his brow. The situation looked grim as each system he tried to recover caused a cascade effect with other sub systems. At the bottom of the list was the matter anti-matter containment field and he knew that once the field was down the Raven would be no more.
“There are only five guards now.” Ramius reported, but McLean wasn’t really listening.
“I routed power to the transporters but I can’t tell you if or when they will go offline.” McLean said, “You do what you can with the guards, I’m going to focus on this problem.”
<Tag Ramius>
McLean moved away from Ramius so he could work at a larger station, he was quickly joined by two other senior enlisted men and by a single armed guard. With the guard over his shoulder McLean worried that there could possibly be a targeting problem with the transporter and one of them might get beamed out into the cold abyss of space.
One of the guards happened to make quick eye contact with McLean and seemed to be able to read his mind. It was a curious phenomenon that McLean couldn’t really explain about engineers, they always were able to tell what was on each others mind. He chalked it up to working in such close proximity with these people day in and day out. It was something that he would never forget no matter where his career took him.
Looking in Ramius’ direction, McLean caught a simple nod from his head and knew things were ready to go. McLean bumped the engineer next to him and hoped it was enough to inform the man it was time to act. He got the sign, and instantly attacked the taller and more powerful Klingon warrior. McLean knew the fight wouldn’t last long, but all the engineer had to do was push him away and then put some distance between himself and the Klingon before Ramius activated the transporter.
“Now!” McLean shouted over to Ramius.
The bright light of the transporter nearly blinded McLean as he looked on. However, some things never go according to plan no matter how well you think you have something planned. Along with the Klingon, the brave engineer found himself caught in the transporter beam on a one way ticket out into space. McLean felt his heart sink suddenly but he knew there were more pressing matters at this moment and he could morn the loss of another fallen comrade later.

Benson sat face down in a pile of his own blood. His face was badly beaten from the heavy questioning he had undergone in the past hour. It was only the sound of the Red Alert alarms that brought him back to consciousness. From his low perspective he saw that he was lying down in McLean’s office, he had yet to actually call it his own because it had only been his own for a little while.
In front of him was a tricorder with only the blinking words ‘Active’ on the main face plate. It took him but a few moments to remember what had happened but when he did the gravity of the situation became apparent.
“What have I done?” Benson said weakly as he tried to push himself up off the floor.
From his vantage point he could see figures running around Main Engineering in more of a hurry than he has ever seen before. He also saw intermittent flashes of light which he decided was his vision going in and out from the many punches he must have received from his captors.
“Computer report.” Benson ordered.
His command was responded with what sounded like gibberish to him. The computers voice was crackling and broken with only a few English words being spoken. He knew the situation was now grim and that there wasn’t much of a chance that he could reverse the effects that he had set in motion.

*Aboard Outpost D'Kul* James Traks closed the last packing crate and activated the security seal. Picking up his tricorder; personal log supplemental; "Well this is the end of an ERA. Now I can only hope Admiral Mc will let me finish the trials on the new Marine eva combat armor. It will take a direct hit from a Klingon disruptor and not slow down, though it does still transfer enough force to the wearer to knock the wind out of you and leave some nice buses, but that is fine with me. I have had a little trouble working out the bugs in the personal cloak, it still uses too much power for me cutting life support down to 6 hours with it active in a combat environment.
*Beep* " Traks here..*
Colonel Traks you have a priority one message from Fleet Admiral Arok I'll take it in my quarters. Entering his quarters he sat behind the desk and activated the screen;
"Identify Traks Colonel authentication alpha du'cha one three. The Klingon symbol faded and was replaced by the face of Admiral Arok.
"James time is short you need to load your toy in the bird of pray waiting at dock 12 the Capitan is an old friend of yours Vegeta my nephew will take you to the last know coordinates of the Raven. The rest of your briefing is being down loaded to the Paugh now. Qapl'a Arok Out.
Traks wasted no time grabbing only his bat'lth and duffel bag and headed for his lab only to run into a squad of Klingons with anti-gravs in the process of moving his toy. Entering the Paugh's airlock Traks was ushered to the bridge .
Sitting in the center seat was a young Klingon with wild hair; "Secure hatches release docking clamps and go to warp 6 as soon as we clear the station and raise the Cloak. Ah Traks good to see you again, I only wish it was under better circumstances; here is your briefing you may use my office."
*Traks turned and entered the ready room, setting down at the desk and inserted the disk in the reader slot.*
:" Star Fleet Int elegance briefing by Fleet Admiral Arok Colonel James Traks.:
During the recent computer update to the USS Raven a code 11 signal was returned with the engagement of receipt. Code 11 is a computer alert notifying command of two parameters have been meet and the ship in question may have been compromised boarded or attacked and disabled. In the case of the Raven the two items listed were a command function lock out by the ship XO and the sensor readings of temporal signatures in this case the so called mirror universe. All further attempts to raise the Raven have been meet with silence. Colonel Traks you are to find the Raven and determine what has happened to the Raven. General Krok has placed the IKS Paugh at your disposal. Hopefully it is just an equipment malfunction and you will just arrive at your new assignment early. IF not do what you do best. Qapl'a Simper Fi.
Traks replied "Hu Ra"
*Returning to the bridge Traks addressed the Captain*; have we found the Raven yet.
*Vegeta moved to the science station.* "Yes we are picking up two Star Fleet Ships the Raven and Blair; which is listed as missing in action; well it seems they have found it? that is odd,
Traks: Yes it is replied Traks; according to these readings it has been through the looking glass. Now I know I'm going to need my toy and my headache is coming back. Eta to the Raven.
Helm: Three hours Colonel. Traks: Well I will need to get shaking to get my armor assembled and checked out. When we get there remain cloaked and get me as close as you can to the shuttle bay of the Raven.
Vegeta: What are you going to do knock on the door and hope they let you in like a wet Targ.
Traks: No Vegeta we Marines have a few new tricks up our selves since you left Star Fleet. * Traks headed to the cargo bay and began to assemble and check out the Marine Eva combat armor mark 3. As he lowered the helmet and locked it into place his whole perspective changed.
Armor: On line beginning system checks Power reserves 100% cloak 98%
Traks: why is it not 100%?
Armor: Thermal suppression of waste head with cloak engaged below optimal.
Traks: It will have to do.
Vegeta: Bridge to Traks I hope you are ready sensors show we may have set off their proximity alarm.
Traks: I'm ready lock on to me and beam him to just outside the shuttle bay doors. Armor engage cloak as soon as transport is complete.;beep:
*Traks reappeared just outside the Ravens Shuttle bay doors and then disappeared again.*
Traks: Computer contact the Raven on Star Feet emergency frequency 12 bata and request emergency docking life support failure. As soon as the doors open enough fire thrusters enough to get us inside before they override the doors. : Confirmed:
* Meanwhile on the Ravens bridge the Red Alert sounded: What is that? Proximity alarm and the hanger bay doors are opening. Close them and send a team to check out the hanger bay see if any of the crew are trying to escape.
*Traks stood just inside the entrance to the shuttle bay awaiting the reaction of who ever was in command of the ship at this time. As soon as the pressure equalized in rushed 2 Klingon and 2 Cardasians. Traks grabbed the lead Klingon by the throat and lifting him off his feet and crushing his throat then letting him drop to the deck. All the other 3 saw was their leader floating in the air and die. Then they joined him.
Traks: Computer low power hook into the ships comm system. Play the Marine hymn, and hope the crew and the Admiral realizes the Marines have landed.
Traks

*As the Marine Hymn began to play Traks moved out rounding the first turn he ran head long into two more Klingons; this had the appearance of the lead Klingon hitting a invisible wall, but as Traks staggered back to regain his balance ......"Warning cloaking failure" and the second Klingon shot the wavering figure in front of him. The solid projectile hit Traks center of mass knocking the wind out of him and off his feet. Sitting there the cloak stabilized and the Klingons could not figure out what happened. "I know I hit it, but what was it? At that moment one of the force fields pooped on at the junction cutting them off from the shuttle bay and the disabled Traks. " Come on lets go around and use the entrance on the other side.*
Traks: Computer damage report;
Armor: Cloak system failure in 2 minutes, servo relays for leg units fused, emergency transport non functional. left palm tractor in op, com short range only...
Traks: Enough; computer disengage safety links, go to stand by mode and arm self district, I will store you in the Eva suit rack and tag you for repair.
Armor: acknowledged simper Fi.
Traks: Hu Rah computer long new call sign you are now Gunny you earned it.
* Traks began removing the armor and hanging it in the storage locker , affixing a tag to it. Damaged propriety of SFMC see Colonel Traks before moving. Then Traks moved off will only his uniform and bat'lth to find the Admiral.

Once the commotion with the Klingons had been successfully resolved, mc7 decided to proceed with the plan to the next level. Carl set up the diagnostics on the internal forcefields, and informed the Admiral that the intruders would be encountering a lot more problems as they tried to keep control of the Raven.
Ok, we've done as much damage as we can without putting the Raven in permanent danger from here. Let's make out way to the secondary computer control. I doubt they would have thought to guard it, and we can can control almost every system from there.
Carl took a moment to think, and then nodded his agreement with mc7. The two officers made there way back into the jefferies tubes, and started to make their way to their target, 5 decks down. The nearest exit from the jefferies tube network to the secondary control room was 500 meters away. Cautiously, mc7 opened the hatch cover slightly, just enough to enable him to look out and check if there was anyone in the corridor. It appeared to be empty. Swinging the hatch open completely, the two of them made their way out of the tubes and into the corridor. Quietly nodding the all clear, they started to cross the short distance between the hatch and the entrance to the control room.
I've got a bad feeling about this Sir. It's too easy so far.
Mc7 didn't reply, he merely gave an odd grin and continued moving forward. Within seconds they reached the door to the secondary computer core, and Carl entered his command codes to order the door to open. The two panels which made up the door parted, receding into the walls, and allowing the two men to cross over the threshold and enter the room.
As the room was not in general use, it was automatically in power saving mode, so when sensors detected the door opening, the lights began to fade up. What Carl saw shocked and surprised him. Lying on the floor, bound gagged and unconscious was Vice Admiral Mc7_of_9.
The next thing Carl felt was a sharp pain from behind, and blackness descended.

*As Traks moved through the ship he began to wonder why his actions had not raised more of an alarm. Were there less adversary's that he thought or were they more concerned with the original crew and his actions had not really been noticed? Moving into the Jeffreys tubes Traks moved behind the security station of Auxiliary control. and began to splice into the computer soon he would be able to access the computer and sensors.*
Traks: Let's see if anyone is in auxiliary control:
*Traks activated the security monitors for auxiliary control and was stunned by what he saw... The lights came up as the door opened and two officers stepped through then Admiral Mc hit the other officer across the back of the neck as he fell Traks paned down and noticed an Admiral Mc boned and gaged on the floor.*
Traks: Not in my universe you don't. Computer recognize Star Fleet boarding override Tara nine, six, seven, nine, omega, one .
Computer: Working; recognize Star Fleet Override.
Traks: Good disable all verbal and keyed input not entered from this terminal. Response to questions on authority for lock out;" I do not understand the nature of the request. The Marines have landed." Begin level one diagnostic on all terminals and stations on the ship, seal all hatches, disable all transporters, raise shields, activate all force shields and containment fields. Lock phasers on to the Blair disable their engines and weapons. Fire. Pre pair to bring the warp engines on line and set course for Star Base Bellicose; speed warp 6.
*Traks held off on engaging the engines waiting to see what the 2nd Admiral Mc did next. Digging into his combat pack Traks took out a block of breaching explosive, setting it so it would breach the wall in auxiliary control. Traks knew that if he set off this explosive the Raven would be dead in space as all power for the main computer ran through the ESP conduit behind the wall. Slaving his pad to the security camera feed he began moving to where he could ambush the mirror Admiral when he left auxiliary control now that the ship was no longer in his control.

Opening his eyes, he could see he was on the floor .. He could hear voices behind and above him ..
"Sit him up." he heard one of the men, the 'fake' Admiral apparently.
He felt himself being grabbed roughly by his arm, and seconds later, was sat against the bulkhead .. It was than that he realized that he couldn't move .. His eyes could scan the area, but only within his field of vision. To one side, in his peripheral vision, he could see what was obviously the real Admiral Mc7_of_9 .. he was where Carl had first seen him ...
The alternate Admiral stopped talking to one of his men for a moment, then kneeling on one knee so Torek could see him, he spoke ..
"Don't try to move Commander .. You have been injected with an Intra-spinal Inhibitor .. It has induced paralysis in your spinal chord .. So as you may have noticed nothing works." he said, moving Carl's face from side to side before continuing, "Oh you can breathe without a problem .. And still see .. But i'm afraid that is all I can allow for the moment .. Sit tight Commander .. I'll be back to you shortly."
The Admiral disappeared from view for a moment as he checked on the 'real' Admiral. Then stood to walk over to two others .. He spoke for a few moments, gesturing toward Torek and Mc several times. Then turning, he gave a cheerful wave to Carl and left the room ...
Carl concentrated on trying to hear all that was said .. 'After all, not much else I can do' he thought frustratingly ..........

Trying to wash away the blood that now stained his body would be time wasted as far as he was concerned. The Klingon that now lay in his quarters was due to report in for another thirty minutes which would give James plenty of time to find out what exactly was happening. He already knew who was behind this, but he would need to remain vigilant.
"Computer where is Admiral MC 7 of 9?" James asked as he reached the nearest terminal.
"I do not understand the nature of the request. The Marines have landed."
"Marines?" James asked, but once again the computer replied with the same response. He only hoped that the clearance he received while in this universe was sufficient enough to override who ever inputed this one.
"Computer give Captain David James clearance to all of the Raven's system Zodiac seven alpha one," James said as making that no Klingon or Cardassian came up behind him.
"Clearance granted."
"Good. How many Mc 7 of 9 are there on the Raven?" James asked.
"There are two Mc 7 of 9 aboard the Raven."
"Damn, I'd hope that I was wrong," James said as he tentatively walked through the corridors hoping to reach main engineering without firing onto anyone.

“I routed power to the transporters but I can’t tell you if or when they will go offline.” McLean said, “You do what you can with the guards, I’m going to focus on this problem.”
“Understood” Marko replied quietly and simply nodded before Scott moved to the main engineering console. From there he could tie himself into all the ship’s systems, he had been joined by 2 engineers but had also attracted the attention of a klingon guard. The same klingon guard who had smacked Marko across his head earlier knocking him off his feet.
Marko caught a glance from Scott, he knew exactly what Scott was thinking and he simply nodded to let him know he was ready. He watched intently as one of Scott’s crewmen threw himself head first at the large klingon warrior with no concern for his own life. Marko knew he was just a diversion and his task was to create some space between the klingon and the engineers so that when the transporter was engaged it would only be the klingons who were beamed out to space.
“Now!” Scott yelled
Marko immediately sprung into action and tapped the console twice to confirm the order as the familiar sound and light of the transporter flashed through main engineering. Transporting their captors into space but also the brave Engineer who gave his life to ensure the safety of his comrades. Marko approached Scott, “The consoles have all been locked out as well as the main computer, all I can get out of the computer is this…”
"I do not understand the nature of the request. The Marines have landed."
Marko watched Scott as he momentarily mourned the loss of his comrade. The bond between engineers was strong on a starship and engineering tended to be the closest department almost like family. Marko stood next to Scott, he didn’t no what to say so he just blurted it out…
“Now is not the time to mourn him Chief, we need to get the Raven back! He was a brave officer and we will all remember him after this day, he just saved our lifes and sacrificed his own.”
Scott silently nodded and quickly ran to his office, well the Chief Engineer’s Office, to Marko – Scott was still the Chief Engineer! “Scott, what are you doing?”
“Benson! Benson are you okay!” Scott called as he knelt down as he entered the office.
“Ooh god! What did they do to him?” Marko asked the office was covered in blood and Benson lay in a pool of it. As Marko had his back turned to the main entrance to Main Engineering, Captain James entered…
(Tag Scott/Benson)
Marko felt a tap on the shoulder and turned to face James. Instinctively anger flared up across his face to Marko, Captain James had betrayed the Raven and her crew. He held back from having James arrested, he must have something to say. So against his judgement he decided to hear the Intelligence Officer out!
“You sold us out Captain, what are you doing here?”
