“We have a plan,” Jonathan said before kneeling down to the unconscious security guard. Unzipping the man’s duty tunic he placed his COM badge under the loose section of his undershirt. It was fortunate for him that most male officers preferred to wear their uniforms baggier than females, other wise the foreign COM badge would be felt instantaneously, “Place your COM badges on those two guards.” Kirk instructed.
Fox, Parsons, and Kirk each dragged the sedated security guards into a nearby conference room, placing each guard into their own seat before leaving for the hallway.
After the security guards were taken care of, Kirk handed a tricorder to each of the other officers, “Program the internal radios to my tricroder’s frequency.”
It took but a moment for the three officers to sync their tricorders, “This will give us a private radio link so we can communicate,” Kirk said. He then turned to a wall diagram of the station, “We are here and our objectives are here, here, and here.” He pointed to the locations of the main, and two separate back up computers for the station, “We must each access these Jeffery Tubes and download the surveillance footage for our hearing with Admiral Elron. If we are successful we should all procure the evidence we need to clear our names. If one of us is caught in the act there are still two others that will complete our mission. Any questions?”
Parsons thought Kirk's assumptions were a little insolent, but he was used to working with the former borg and knew he lacked interpersonal skills. Besides, he was right and this was no time to give him a protocol lesson. "None," Adam responded, and the three officers entered the Jefferies tubes.
Kirk, Fox, and Parsons traveled together until Kirk broke off to head for the main computer access. A little while later, Fox and Parsons split up to head for their separate back up access points. "Good luck, Fox," the Executive Officer said as the two headed different directions.
"You too, Commander," Fox replied.
As Parsons approached the Jefferies tube hatch he was to exit, he scanned the other side. There were two crewmen in the corridor ahead. They were probably a maintenance crew, and Adam decided he would wait to see if they moved on and checked in with Fox and Kirk. "Status," he questioned quietly through the tricorder.

"Colonel as you can see the Commodore and I do not have a very pleasant relationship," Paikea said once he was alone with the new marine officer. The marines had always held a great interest for Paikea, but in the end it was his love of science that won out. Even so he had great respect for them and knew that they would not let personal affairs get in the middle of doing the job," I assure you that it does not compromise my ability to conduct this investigation in any way. I actually welcome your insight. After questioning Commander Martens and Commodore Reckus I'm more than convinced that they had nothing to do with the murder of Fleet Admiral Elron."
(Vander)
"With that in mind we must realize that this investigation got a lot harder," Pai said as he read his notes," the assassin might have had an accomplice or as unlikely as it may seem there might have been two attempts on his life and the shooter succeeded first."
(Vander)
"The base security chief has been interrogating the rest of the witnesses, I think we should help him out," Paikea said realizing that there was still much work to be done.

The Vulcan commodore listened as Paikea explained to Vander where their working relationship stood and nodded in approval. At least he was man enough to admit the existence of a strained relationship, which she appreciated and found commendable. “Yes colonel, please assist Commander Apirana in his investigations. I am going to the infirmary, I want to see the body.”
She walked around her desk and made for the door, where security stopped her. “You're not allowed to leave this room ma'am.” the officer in question ordered.
“And who is going to stop me?” she challenged, “I am forbidden to leave this station, but not this office. Security or no, you cannot countermand any given orders on the issue. I am going to the infirmary, to exame Admiral Elron's body myself. As your orders stand, you are required to assign an escort to me.”
Sonak nodded over to Vander and Paikea. “And they will investigate further leads, you will not hinder their examination, only follow them around as per your orders. Is that clear?” Surely these people knew not to argue with a commodore, even if she was somehow suspect? Not that she quite felt she was, but still, as the situation stood, everyone on the starbase was suspect, even security.
The security guard stood down, nodded once then spoke quietly into his combadge. “Ensigns Williams and Tamiya will accompany you ma'am,” he reported, “if you could wait just a minute for them to arrive?” He then assigned two others to escort security chief and marine.
“Of course,” Sonak answered pleasantly, but she was out the door as soon as her escort reported in. To her surprise, they kept a respectful distance and she understood that from afar, it wouldn't appear as though she actually was under escort at all. It was a fair walk to SB47's main infirmary, where also the morgue was located and it took them several minutes to get there.
“I demand to examine the admiral's remains,” she stated clearly upon entering.
Startled, one of the doctors whirled around, his cheeks colouring in anger as he saw who had dared enter his domain. “What, and taint the body and evidence?” he sneered, “no way I'm letting a mere starship captain near a dead body.”
Since she was wearing her command red uniform, Sonak could understand his reaction to some extend. What she didn't understand was why he didn't realise she was a qualified doctor. Surely her medical skills were widely known on this starbase? Then she realised that this base was not Bellicose, where she'd been well known indeed. “I am no mere starship captain doctor,” she answered sweetly, “I am Commodore Sonak Reckus, MD. Now, if you please?”
The doctor in question swallowed as the guards nodded their confirmation as to their charge's identity and clarification. “Yes ma'am,” he answered coldly, then ordered for the remains to be recovered and prepared. “It's not a pretty sight ma'am,” he warned.
“I have seen corpses before doctor,” she answered, “and this would hardly be my first autopsy. I would also like to review your findings in the matter. Consider my examination a second opinion, if you please. After all, it is my reputation that is on the line, hardly yours.”
Grudgingly, the doctor did as he was told, while one of the nurses led the Vulcan to the slab where Elron's body lay prepared. She was relieved to find his face covered by a cloth as she had no wish to be reminded of the shock that had appeared on his face when the first shot had struck, and probably killed him.
She allowed one of the nurses to help her into a special garb that would protect her clothing, then held out her hands so the nurse could pull gloves over them. Nodding once at the nurse in appreciation for the assistance, the Vulcan woman stepped forward and approached the body. She felt grief wash over her once again but she shrugged it off just as quickly.
The body was completely naked, though certain parts were thankfully covered as well. A Y-incision was made over his chest and the breastbone was removed to provide access to the chest cavity. The organs had been removed, though they had been safely stored on formaline to preserve them for further examination. The previous doctor showed her where they were stored, then handed her his findings.
“We did find something odd,” he reported slowly, “though from high-up these findings were readily dismissed.” He shrugged. “I can't tell them what to accept and what not, but look at this...” He pointed out a single entry in his reports. “I found no antibodies whatsoever in his blood, and there seems no indication that the lymphocytes in his body were ever activated to produce antibodies.”
Alarmed by these findings, Sonak resisted grabbing the PADD from him. “Indeed?” she queried, “that is most peculiar. Is there any indication that he received recent transfusions? As in, his entire blood was exchanged?” The doctor shook his head in a negative response. “Most peculiar,” she repeated as she examined the body. “Yes, the shots appear to have been the cause of death, that is quite obvious. However your findings I find most disturbing.”
She beckoned him to his office. “Are you aware that the admiral was infected with a dangerous virus several years ago? A virus I infected him with as I was infected myself?”
The doctor nodded. “Yes, I've heard of that. Several high-ranking officials had been infected. I saw the reports on the medical efforts, it was something alright. Are you saying his lack of antibodies are a result of that?”
“No, on the contrary. There should be antibodies, or rather indications that he was infected.” She showed her own teeth. “You see, the infection left me slightly longer canine teeth, but that is beside the point. His lymphocytes should show that there are memory cells, but I can see no indication of them. I need to test a theory, do you still have a bloodsample on file?”
Nodding, the doctor led her to the lab and together they started a culture on lymphocytes. A few hours later, Sonak had reproduced a sample of the vampire virus antigen, which she held out to her collegue. “If there was a previous infection, the lymphocytes should respond to a secondary infection within the hour,” she explained, “because there ought to be a memory of the primary infection.” The doctor nodded his agreement. “If, in an hour, we still have no proliferation of the B-cells....” She trailed off, gazing at the doctor in horror. “That means that our corpse is in fact, not Fleet Admiral Elron!”
The other doctor gazed back in shock, just after he had introduced the antigen into the culture before them. “How is that possible?” he breathed.
“I do not know, but if my theory is correct, we have a serious security breach, as well as an even more dangerous situation. Because not only do we need to find out where the real Elron is, we also need to find out who created this nearly perfect clone. And more importantly, why.”
Together, they waited in the office for the results of their experiment. An hour later, one of the laboratory technicians came to report the, for the medical officers, bad news. “The culture is negative for antibodies,” she reported, “I have ran the test twice.”
The doctors looked at each other. “Reckus to Apirana, report to the infirmary. Take the head of starbase security with you. We have a serious problem.” She tapped her combadge again and summoned Fox, though she gained no response from him. “Colonel Halthor, I need you to round up my senior staff immediately. And I want you to drag Admiral Nova down here as well, tell him I am not accepting no for an answer. He did not answer any of my prior calls, I am concerned something may have happened to him.”
When Apirana arrived, she reported her findings to both. “I have evidence that shows that our dead body is in fact not Fleet Admiral Elron,” she spoke coldly, thrusting the PADD at both officers. “I believe that lifts any suspicion regarding the Vesuvius senior staff?” She sighed. “However, this discovery leaves with more questions than answers. Who would replace the admiral, and what would their motive be? And why was the clone killed? Was the clone responsible for the explosive Commander Martens found? The explosive that stalled and thus failed to kill us?”

[limegreen] Sonak rose to her feet, patted Vander on his shoulder than walked forwards to stand beside Apirana. "Mr Martens, please return to your duties in regards to the investigation. You should join Commanders Fox and Kirk, I believe they were on their way to see Admiral Nova. Mr Halthor, please remain and assist Mr Apirana. In an hour, we have a staff briefing and I want results!" [/limegreen]
Taking the pat on the shoulder then nodding, Vander then replied “As always Commodore, your orders will be followed with due haste, I will not make you unhappy with my performance, I will be happy to assist you with those results when the briefing arises” Vander replied.
[limegreen] "Colonel as you can see the Commodore and I do not have a very pleasant relationship," Paikea said once he was alone with the new marine officer. After questioning Commander Martens and Commodore Reckus I'm more than convinced that they had nothing to do with the murder of Fleet Admiral Elron." [/limegreen]
Nodding to Commander Paikea then replying “I can understand your approach at the moment and where your coming from, it is to be admired, I will be able to work with you in this investigation, I wont let my andorian feelings override my profession and position as a Military Officer in the line of duty, and your questioning of the individuals in the investigation are only pieces to the puzzle we need more facts before we make final approaches, but it is good that you can conclude upon something like that.” Halthor smiled then looked at Paikea.
[limegreen]The Vulcan commodore listened as Paikea explained to Vander where their working relationship stood and nodded in approval. At least he was man enough to admit the existence of a strained relationship, which she appreciated and found commendable. “Yes colonel, please assist Commander Apirana in his investigations. I am going to the infirmary, I want to see the body.”[/limegreen]
“Understood, Commodore!” Saluting the Commodore as she made her way out, Halthor then went to at ease speaking with Commander Paikea.
[limegreen]"With that in mind we must realize that this investigation got a lot harder," Pai said as he read his notes," the assassin might have had an accomplice or as unlikely as it may seem there might have been two attempts on his life and the shooter succeeded first." [/limegreen]
“A valid point, with factual evidence to back it up, I like the work done so far, but we still need more before we can conclude our approach.” Halthor remarked.
[limegreen] "The base security chief has been interrogating the rest of the witnesses, I think we should help him out," Paikea said realizing that there was still much work to be done. [/limegreen]
“Well then what are we waiting for, we should get a move on, and start interrogating immediately.” Halthor nodded then walked out with Paikea.
In the process of interrogating the witnesses, a communication had been relayed to Halthor, receiving it he tapped his badge.
[limegreen]“Colonel Halthor, I need you to round up my senior staff immediately. And I want you to drag Admiral Nova down here as well, tell him I am not accepting no for an answer. He did not answer any of my prior calls, I am concerned something may have happened to him.”[/limegreen]
Taking the order, he nodded to Paikea and made his way back to the Senior Staff Room. Walking in he listened as the Commodore spoke about the evidence provided. Then raising a hand, Halthor was the first to ask the question then stood at attention. “Ma’am we still need more evidence and need to interrogate the base, little by little I think we can find the answers were working towards.” Halthor remarked then stood at ease.

Jonathan was beginning to regret the decision to take the longest of the three paths to the sub-computers aboard the station. It had became apparent rather fast that it would tank him much longer than he had anticipated to crawl the entire way, and after some distance he heard the tricorder beep, it was an incoming communication.
“Status.” Commander Parsons said. Through the deepness of his breaths Jonathan could tell he was still on the move as he was talking.
“I am about half way to my objective.” Kirk replied in stride. He too was starting to feel the strain on his body from the constant crawling, “How are you proceeding Commander?”

"Commander for the record can you please state your name, rank, age, and reason for being here on Starbase 47," Paikea asked fully aware how stupid these questions sounded. Nick just smiled back and answered the question.
"My name is Nicholas Martens, my age is 25, and my rank is Commander. No bloody first class."
"Commander, what were you doing when Fleet Admiral Elron was shot?" Paikea asked as he placed his padd on the table in front of both men.
"Commander what were you thinking when you saw that Fleet Admiral Elron had been shot?" Paikea asked now visibily sweating from the mental shield that he had set up against Commander Marten's mind. The new security officer seemed to be nervous about Nicks telepathy and was evidently mounting a defense against any intrusions.
"Relax Commander, my telepathy isn't used on fellow crew members. It's an invasion of their privacy, you can relax. As for when Elron was shot, I was adjusting my tunic. I absolutely hate dress uniforms. Which is exactly what I was thinking. Then I thought, HOLY CRAP ELRONS BEEN SHOT!!"
"Commander did you kill Fleet Admiral Elron?" Paikea asked knowing that Commander Martens was not expecting that question.
Nick raised an eyebrow and locked his gaze with Pai.
"No. I did not kill the Admiral."
~~~some time later~~~
Nick stood in the lab looking over the charges which were laid out on the table in front of him and his assistants. The explosives had been disabled so they posed no threat to him or anyone else for that matter. He picked up the coil of wire and started unraveling it slowly while looking over the wires. He came across a slight snip in one of the wires. It didn't seem that it was caused by accident. Someone knew about the plot and had foiled it by slicing the wires.
"We've got some serious luck rolling here," he muttered.
"No kidding," came the reply from Carl, who'd joined him from the Vesuvius so he'd have an experienced expert involved. He looked up with a slightly bemused look on his face. Nick looked back at him with an equally shocked look.
"I've got some DNA around the area of the cut," Carl said. "Computer cross reference the sample DNA with the starbase medical database."
"Processing..." came the cold reply.
"DNA is a 99% match to Fleet Admiral Elron."
"Well ain't that an interesting developement."
After the briefing in the staffroom had been conducted and the parties had been notified, Commodore Sonak left the room making her way to the infirmary leaving both Commander Paikea and Lt. Colonel Halthor talking about the evidence afterwards Sonak made it apparent that she wanted Halthor to the infirmary for some work and further evidence to be reported, with that in mind the Andorian nodded to the Cardassian Commander Paikea hopping she would come with him.
In his efforts he made his way out through the staffroom doors and towards the turbo lift, pressing the button, he saw it marked infirmary. Watching it glide down through the base, the yellow streaking of the turbo lift as it shot its way down many decks was an amazing feat of engineering. After arriving, the door chimed, then opened leaving Halthor looking out the open door then walking out and onto the deck.
Making his way to infirmary wasn’t hard at all, he wanted to take stroll and found it enlightening to say the least, seeing the maintenance personnel and security guards walk by was a sure sight that the base was a full functionality and the operating procedures were followed. Walking to the infirmary doors, Vander touched the terminal next to the door and watched as the door chimed then opened up, and he saw the commodore standing before an open lab table.
“Commodore Sonak, what seems to be the problem?” Vander mentioned.
Fox just had closed the hatch of the jeffriestube he had entered when his tricorder beeped softly. It was parsons.
"Status," he questioned quietly through the tricorder.
He quickly sealed the hatch from inside and sat with his back against the wall. He opened his tricorder. "Took longer to get to the tube to avoid being seen. Am in it now. Will give an update when i reach the computer. Fox out."
He closed his tricorder again and turned to crawl through the tube. "Man..." he thought, "You'd think they could make the tubes of a station a little bigger." He started to crawl forward, slowly. Once in a while looking at his tricorder to see how far he'd still needed to go and to see if there was trouble ahead.
The Vulcan turned, regarding her marine chief with mild interest. "Problem?" she queried as she stepped aside from the table she'd been working on. "Oh no, this is hardly a problem."
As the Andorian approached, Sonak showed him what she had discovered. "Our corpse is not Fleet Admiral Elron," she explained, "genetically he is an exact copy, but immunologically there is quite a difference." She continued to explain how she discovered this.
"Have you seen Commander Parsons on your way here?" she then asked, "I have summoned everyone, including Section Admiral Nova. So far, only you have responded to the summons."
At that moment, Jatan walked in, looking none too happy. "What're you thinking, doing all this research on your own," he exploded once he got near. "You nearly got killed in the courtroom, rather could've been killed if that explosive had gone off. And now you're exposing this publicly, before all of the starbase staff? What if someone's here who's actually behind this? They'll not want this knowledge to get out. What're you thinking Sonak, do you want to have us all killed?"
Taken aback at her husband's explosion, the Vulcan remained silent. Yes, he did have a point but secrecy was just not her way and she had needed the starbase CMO's assistance in gaining access to the corpse in the first place. "Nobody is leaving this starbase," she finally explained, "and Colonel Halthor will make sure that none will be able to get at me. That is, after all, his job, is it not colonel?"
Jatan didn't look appeased and crossed his arms over his chest. "Honestly, sometimes I think you have a deathwish. How many times did you nearly get killed by now?"
In all honesty, Sonak couldn't remember but it was surely more times than she could count on either hand. "I do not have a deathwish," she finally replied, "but I do have a duty to Starfleet in uncovering this mystery. And right now, I need all the assistance I can get. Perhaps you should try and get the admiral down here, because he is not answering my summons."
The Human doctor shook his head. "If he won't listen to a commodore, surely he'll not listen to a mere commander? Then again...I could order him on medical grounds though I would suppose that his own CMO, the one on this starbase, would stand a better chance."
Still muttering under his breath, he walked off to see the base CMO and get her to issue the summons. In the mean time, Sonak turned back to face Halthor. "I do expect trouble from this discovery," she told him honestly, "be prepared for the worst. Contact Commander Apirana and co-ordinate with him. I do not want anyone walking off by themselves, or be alone for more than ten minutes at the time. A prospect assassin should not get a chance to get a shot at us."
“I am about half way to my objective,” Kirk replied. “How are you proceeding Commander?”
"I am reaching my objective now," Adam responded in a hushed voice.
Fox then chimed in, "Took longer to get to the tube to avoid being seen. Am in it now. Will give an update when i reach the computer. Fox out."
Parsons decided to wait a few minutes for Fox and Kirk to get into position. It would be best to hit their three objectives simultaneously in case one or more failed. This way, station security would not have time to react.
"Very good gentlemen, notify me when you have reached your objectives. Parsons out."
Standing back and replying to the commodore, “Interesting you say he is not fleet admiral elron, but an exact copy how could this be, with the difference in mind being that it is immunological please explain more.” then listening to her discovery he began to understand and piece together a certain mindset for the investigation. Sonak had also wanted parsons with Halthor, but it turned out that it was only him that he had brought to the infirmary to see the results. “No Commander Parsons did not accompany me, if you wished for me to be here, and that you have, I make sure that I am prompt and to the ready.” Halthor replied.
Then turning and watching her listen to him and then also see another individual enter the room and explain himself, Halthor took the moment to evaluate the situation as he saw it and replied to Jatan. “I am here to protect not just Sonak but everyone of the federation, I am a member of the marines serving in Starfleet it is my duty to serve my commanding officer and protect those who not as I see fit but everyone for the general being, I am protecting sonak at this time because there is evidence here that is pertinent to my investigation.” Vander replied.
Again, nodding to Commodore Sonak, he was very understanding of what she was remarking on later on it was apparent that in due time with the investigation the way it was security was to remain at maximum and halthor and other key security placements needed to take there areas at the base and see that no one was left alone, replying “Sonak I’ll see to it Commander Apirana is the first to know, and will maximize base security you are absolutely correct about the situation in the way its been put” Halthor stood at attention then saluted then made his way out of the infirmary with hopes he would contact Commander Apirana.
As Jonathan crawled up to the computer core he saw something strange, something he had not expected to see sitting on the computer core. It looked to be a bomb. The Operations officer and former engineer raised his tricorder up to the computer core and to the small foreign device that had been placed upon the back up computer core.
“I have a problem here.” Kirk spoke into his tricorder as he
“What is it?” Parsons asked.
The tricorder beeped and it became clear to the Vesuvius’ Operations officer that Jonathan was in fact looking at an explosive device, “It is a bomb.” Kirk said stoically.
Just as he finished speaking the lights in the Jefferies tube went black leaving Jonathan with only the light from his tricorder to light his way, and with the hum of the lights dead the sounds of the bomb began to become the dominate sound in the cramped space.
“Commander what’s going on?”
“I am not sure Commander,” Kirk replied, “The power has just gone out. I cannot tell yet if it is isolated only to my sector.
“We can get the data from here-“ Kirk heard through the tricorder just as it suddenly shut off.
“Commander. Parsons respond.”
Nothing. In front of him the computer core began to glow a bright green color and an ear piercing sound began to emanate from the small bomb to which it rang out in an increasing cadence. The proverbial sinking feeling come over Jonathan as the ear piercing noise was coming to a crescendo and he was without his COM badge, and his tricorder had inexplicably been disabled.
The explosion rocked the Starbase and sent damage control teams scrambling to put out the fires.
Paikea had a general idea of what the Commodore was going to do and Pai realized that Sonak Reckus was not the typical Vulcan. While Vulcans were famous for their logic, Reckus seemed to defy all logic. Even so, Paikea couldn't help but admire her tenacity and calm in the face of danger. Knowing that it would be important to keep her safe, Paikea was preparing the security forces on the base.
Feeling slightly relaxed for the first time since the assasination, Paikea took a minute to reflect on what had happened in the last few hours. Even though he didn't know his fellow officers on a personal level, he knew that none of them would be cowardly enough to kill a defenseless man.
"Commander Apirana, there has just been an explosion on the base, we need orders," a security guard asked over the comm.
"We need attend to the injured first," Paikea said," medical teams need access. Security teams will need to set up a perimeter around that entire section. No one is allowed to leave until questions by myself, Colonel Halthor, or Commodore Reckus."
An explosion rocked the station shortly after Parsons lost contact with Kirk. Communication with Wolf was also gone. Wolf's body would be found a few minutes later near the site of a second blast, timed to coincide with the one at Kirk's location. Parsons now realized what the crewmen outside the hatch were doing, they were rigging the third and final computer access point with an explosive device. He heard them talking now, "Hurry up, we are behind schedule. The other devices have already detonated."
Parsons kicked open the Jefferies tube hatch and stunned the two crewmen, one and then the other, before they could react. Examining the device, Parsons did not think he could disarm it in time, so he set his phaser to overload and used the nearby console to access the Vesuvius' transporter. A second later the phaser and device were beamed into space and detonated harmlessly.
Adam next retrieved his tricorder and began downloading the information from the security recordings. It showed what appeared to be Admiral Elron shooting Admiral Elron. "It must be some kind of reflection or maybe the recording has already been doctored," Parsons thought to himself. Although the recording appeared to be authentic. The Vesuvius XO quickly sent the recordings to Commodore Sonak's office computer.
As Parsons was about to make his escape he noticed one of the crewmen had dropped a PADD. Adam bent down and picked the PADD up, reading the screen carefully. On it were orders from Admiral Nova to the crewmen about the placement of the bomb and the timing of the explosion. Taking the PADD, Parsons started to leave, but accessed the wall panel one more time. "Parsons to Sonak, I have just sent you something you need to see. Meet me in your office, Admiral Nova is involved somehow."
"Don't move!" The shout came from a security officer with a phaser trained on Parsons. Other security personnel approached from the other direction. "Commander Parsons, you are under arrest," one of them said.
"On what charge," Adam responded.
"Sabotage of the station's computer and the assassination of Admiral Elron."
"That's ridiculous, just look at this PADD," Adam pleaded.
"Sorry Commander, Admiral Nova's orders."
The last thing Parsons saw was the flash of the phaser being fired at him before waking up in the brig an unknown time later.
She felt the tremor of the explosion, even from the infirmary. And when she saw medics rushing out full speed, she knew something was wrong. She took one glance at her Andorian marine officer to know he knew enough as well. "What are we waiting for," she queried, grabbing the nearest medkit before rushing out herself.
Guards tried to stop her, but she simply shrugged them off. "If there are injured, you are needing every medic available, and I happen to be a doctor. Out of my way! Halthor, with me!" She ordered the guards to take her to the location of the explosion. There, she encountered Apirana and she took him aside. "What happened?" she demanded. "Where are commanders Fox, Parsons and Kirk?"
The Vulcan cast her security chief an uncharacteristic but withering glare, before noticing he looked somewhat stricken. "What?" She turned as wounded were being carried back from the rubble and debris. Her eyes fell on a single Human officer wearing the yellow of an operations officer. It took only a few seconds to recognise him.
She rushed forward, brushing aside a medic who was about to assist. "I will take care of him," she snapped, looking down at the semi-conscious form of Jonathan Kirk. "Commander Kirk, can you tell me what happened?"
Sonak beckoned Paikea forward, before finally allowing a nurse to take further care of her operations chief. "Find out what happened," she ordered, then tapped her combadge. "Commander Parsons and Fox, report to engineering!" Just then, Fox walked in, looking worried. "Ah Commander Fox, please join the investigation, I would like to know what caused this explosion. Call Nick in here as well, he is a whizz when it comes to engineering."
The call to Parsons, however remained silent. "Computer, locate Commander Adam Parsons." She added her authorisatio code to enforce the order.
=/\= Commander Parsons is in the brig =/\= the computer replied.
"Paikea with me. Halthor, take charge here." Together, they rushed out. Minutes later, they stood before a holding cell which held a clearly unhappy first officer. "What happend commander?" she asked gently, motioning for the guard to lower the forcefield to let her in.
She sat down beside him on the cot, peering intently at him. "Who ordered this?" she continued, "surely you did not do anything to warrant your arrest?" She paused. "I have discovered who killed the admiral," she finally revealed and told him all she had discovered. "Someone clearly is trying to prevent this news from being released, but I still cannot understand why you were arrested, and on whose order."
Nodding to Sonak as she queried to him after the explosion, he replied “Lets get a move on, we shall not be late.” Halthor responded. Walking with Sonak he then saw her get stopped by guards but then use her diplomatic and position as a means for the situation. Then agreeing to her once again, he nodded to Sonak following her.
After walking with her he had noticed that a commander kirk had been laid on the side. Listening and watching he heard Sonak approach kirk and began to take notes. After being ordered to take charge of the situation he stood by kirks side, gathering information.
“Commander Kirk, are you alright, it would appear our first officer has been held in the brig without his own command, care to explain why?” Halthor motioned then stood by Kirk with a med kit hoping to help the semi conscious operations officer who was just beginning to realize what was happening.
Then standing beside kirk, halthor looked around with his tendrils standing up and he tapped his commbadge. “To security detail I need personnel to this area ASAP, with medical equipment and keep at ready, what ever it appears to be stand at the ready.” Halthor untapped then nodded to kirk then waited for one of the security teams to assist commander kirk to his feat.
“Commander Kirk if you don’t mind, I must assist Commodore Sonak and Commander Paikea, the security team will notify me if anything proceeds to your location or you are in a position where you’re the situation beckons your health.” Halthor replied then made his way to the brig.
"Only the chief of base security, myself, or Colonel Halthor," Paikea said in respoinse to the Commodore's questions," other than that only command grade officer's have the ability to arrest the Commander. I doubt that you or Section Admiral Nova ordered his arrest."
"I certainly did no such thing," the Vulcan replied coldly, regarding her chief of security with interest, "what would I gain when I need his assistance? Any officer on my staff is valued, a first officer with his experience even more so."
She paused, watching both men. "I want to hear why Nova ordered his arrest. Go question Nova, on my orders, if he asks. Arrest him if needed, equally on my authority."
Paikea didn't know how his friend ended up arrested and in the brig, but he was not happy about it. Whoever was behind this had a lot power and access to highly classified systems.
"Commodore, I have to believe that the person behind this is someone of high importance in Starfleet," Paikea said full well of the implications," only someone like that would be able to arrest a Starfleet officer onboard Fleet Headquarters."
(Adam)
Sonak sighed, nodding in agreement. "Indeed, and whoever it is, we need to find out. Quickly too for they shall not sit idle. They tried to eliminate us before, and now Commander Kirk is injured..." She trailed off, then fixed her glare on Paikea, though it was not directed at him. "Arrest Admiral Nova," she ordered, "by any means necessary. I will contact Admiral Lin on Starbase Assaillant for outside assistance. Everyone on this starbase is compromised; he is not."
She moved off a slight distance, after stepping out of the cell and placed the call to SBA.
