Tristan glanced at Seth expecting to see the same look on his face as he was getting from many other members of the crew, Tristan was happy to see it wasn’t there.
"I've decided to assign some Ops personnel to help out with the repairs," Seth continued quietly, "Hopefully, they should be able to speed up the process."
Tristan stood up and nodded as he looked down the corridor, he looked back to Seth and sighed. “Yes that would be a great help thank you.”
It was just then Admiral Drew’s voice came over the comm. System.
“Drew to Littlewood,” Tristan tapped his comm. Badge and said.
“Littlewood here sir.”
A second later Drew said.
“we are resuming course and continuing in our mission, I want this ship to be operating at 110% efficiency, no more mistakes please Commander.”
The last part of Drew’s sentence caused Tristan to close his eyes for a moment and take a deep breath he bit back a comment about not needing to be reminded of the fact one of his staff screwed up instead saying.
“Yes Sir.”
His voice did portray his displeasure to the Admiral about being reminded yet again.
Tristan looked back to Seth and said.
“Have the people you had in mind to help out report to Melendez in my office, they need to be made aware of temporary procedural changes in Engineering.’
Tristan knelt back down and placed the panel he tool off from the wall and put it back in place he then looked back to Seth and said.
“I had one of my staff beam over a piece of the destroyed ships hull for analysis would you mind helping me out on it?.. it is in cargo bay one.. we can do it now if you have the time?”

“Commander Park,” Drew continued, now facing Tactical, “it is entirely possible that we may be entering a hostile environment, take us to Yellow Alert and stand ready to jump to Red at any given notice. I want continuous scans for any vessels in the sector and an identification of them all.”
"Aye Sir Yellow alert." Jon said as he pressed the controls and the lighting on the bridge changed. Since Park knew what was coming he hit the controls to silence the klaxon and saw Drew's head turn in a thank you. Jon turned to Commander Thomas who was at the secondary Station and said "Commander have Alpha team and Beta deploy at there stations. Have Gamma on standby."
Watching Thomas head off he was checking the sensors and started to see if there was any ships yet found none. A faint ion trail was detectable and was trying to check to see if it was the Bartlet. The trail was so degraded he couldn't get a good reading to tell him he logged the ion trail and worked on a program to alert him to the ion trail of the Bartlet.
Jon saw the teams alert him they were in at stations and ready and he told the captain. "Sir's Security teams are posted and ready. I have also set a program to alert us if the Bartlet some into sensor range."

Seth stopped peering at the Chief Engineer's work and thought about answering his question. There had been no call from the bridge yet, from Seth's point of view everything was running smoothly up there. Yes, he decided, he had time to help out the Chief Engineer, from a personal standpoint now as well as from the point of view of committing some of his own department staff.
"That would be fine," he told Littlewood who was still standing there waiting for his reply, "I've had Lieutenant Hasak analyse the wreckage from a distance, but yes I'm sure it would help having a closer look." He moved past Littlewood, heading for the cargo bay, and as he passed the CEO he smiled in an encouraging manner that surprised himself. Seth was well aware that the Commander would perhaps be a bit unsure of himself, perhaps working together on something could ease both their tensions.
En route to Cargo Bay 1, Seth commed Crewman Bovois, ordering him as well as a couple of Ensigns and several more enlisted personnel from Ops to report to Engineering. The reason why he had not called a more senior officer in his staff was due to the simple fact that he did not know that many of them. Seth felt it a little awkward to call an officer in his department that he did not know, to order them to get themselves to another department to help. It may have also served to alienate that person to their distant departmental Chief, Seth would didn't think he wanted that. As they were nearing their destination, Seth felt the ship jump back to warp. He quickly checked with the bridge and was informed by Ensign T'Pel that they were on their way, following the warp trail towards the planet. Seth acknowledged, trusting in T'Pel to hold the Ops station.
The Commander and Lieutenant arrived in the Cargo Bay, the double doors sliding open to reveal several mounds of twisted, blackened wreckage. Seth got a sense of de ja vu. Littlewood moved forward to begin an analysis of the closest mound while Seth took a second to work out what this reminded him of. ...Black chunks of metal, screeching sounds... Ah, yes. This was remarkably similar to the time he had analysed the remnants of one Commander Waterson's shuttle. That had been a long time ago or so it seemed, Seth thought. He knew that, in reality, it had only been a few months. He looked back at the wrecked parts of what had once been an unarmed, probably exploratory, ship.
"What a state," he said flatly, drawing his tricorder and stepping forward. He and the Commander spent some time looking through the wreckage, searching for anything out of the ordinary that the Benzite Ops officer Hasak had not picked up on. Having spent several minutes and having found nothing interesting, Seth became aware that he had not exchanged a single word with Tristan Littlewood since they'd started. It didn't bother him, Seth felt comfortable with such silences, but in the spirit of conversation he spoke anyway.
"Found anything?" was what he said with absolutely no conviction. It was a pointless question, Littlewood would surely have said something by now, unless he was just gathering his thoughts..? Littlewood shook his head from elsewhere in the wreckage. Seth smiled, feeling comfortable. "What do you.." he started, stepping over a pile of wreckage and studying his tricorder, his mind was in three places at once. "What do you make of the business with the Bartlet?" he asked conversationally still looking at the tricorder. It was then that the device, as well as Littlewood's started beeping wildly, it had just picked up something that hadn't been there before.

He walked a few paces in front of Lieutenant Helacaan, he could hear seth giving orders to a few of his officers to report to Engineering for duty.
They arrived in the cargo bay and Tristan heard Seth make a comment about the state of the wreckage but in truth Tristan’s mind was elsewhere, he was physically in the cargo bay but mentally he was re-living the moment he found out the explosion on deck four was his departments fault, and by default his fault .
He walked over to the opposite side of the wreckage that Seth was on and started to scan with his tricorder.
The room was quite as neither of them had spoken, Tristan couldn’t decide if that was to his liking or not, he really did not want the topic of any conversation moving over to the explosion on deck four.
A few minutes later of not having found anything Seth began talking.
"What do you.."
Seth paused for a moment giving Tristan time to look up at him.
"What do you make of the business with the Bartlet?"
Tristan began by shaking his head and was about to respond when both Tricorders began beeping.
Tristan looked down and frowned in confusion he moved closer to the source and his eyebrows raised as he discovered what it was the tricorder was reacting to.
“that’s odd.” Tristan said to himself as he knelt down next to the wreckage.
He looked up at Seth.
“There are small traces of radiation but my tricorder can’t recognise it.”
Tristan stood up and said to Seth.
“Stand back Lieutenant.”
After Seth and Tristan moved back he called out to the computer.
“Computer level ten forcefield around the wreckage.”
The blue wall shimmered around the wreckage before disappearing away, Tristan looked back up to Seth.
“Get yourself down to a doctor Lieutenant, until we can figure out what kind of radiation that is I am not taking any chances.”
Tristan stood still, continuing to scan the wreckage trying to figure out what kind of radiation it was, the radiation was very small and Tristan held strong doubts that it was harmful to people but after the day he was having he wasn’t going to bet on it.

“Thank you for your honesty Commander,” Drew said once Dan had finished, “obviously at the moment I am going to require you to remain on the Nevada and continue to fulfil your duties, however if you continue to feel this way once we have completed our mission, then I will accept your resignation and look for your replacement. As you say, I need a top-notch First Officer to run this ship.”
That was the turning point in his seemingly downward spiral of thought. In all of his concerns about his adequacy for the position, he had lost sight of the all-important element: his fate was in his own hands.
After they entered the Bridge and Drew issued orders, the two sat down together. As they did so, Dan began to see his CO in a new light. The SA pips on the man's collar seemed to fall away, and he saw the Admiral for the first time in the way he should have been seeing him the entire time: as his Captain. Drew was willing to help him, but expected service and loyalty in return.
"Sir's Security teams are posted and ready. I have also set a program to alert us if the Bartlet some into sensor range."
"Thank you, Mr. Park," Dan replied. "But do your best to keep an eye out for the Bartlet yourself as well. Computers can miss things."

Several Hours Later... Alone in his quarters, Drew was enjoying some well deserved down time. The Nevada continued in her search for the Bartlet, but there had been little need for Drew’s presence on the bridge, so he had left Dan in command, with instructions to contact him if he was needed. Now out of uniform, Drew, having pulled a classic Earth book on the shelf, sat himself on one of the large leather sofas that ran alongside the wall of his quarters, and began to read. Ever since his childhood, he had always found reading to be a relaxing experience, a time for him to escape the problems of his daily life and enter the fictional world of others, whose own problems seemed so easily resolved. Next to him was a small coffee table, on which was resting an old Earth drink known as cider. Now that he was no longer registered as being on duty, the replicator was once again allowing him alcohol. Drew knew that many of his fellow officers enjoyed more exotic drinks, but for him, nothing could beat the drinks of Earth. Just as he was really starting to unwind and relax, his comm badge began chirping urgently, as Dan’s excited voice broke through. “Admiral,” the First Officer said, “we have located the Bartlet, or at least part of it.” Jumping to his feet, Drew grabbed the comm badge and held it close to his mouth. “What do you mean ‘part of it’?” he asked, fear overcoming him, “has it been destroyed?” “I don’t think so,” Dan replied slowly, “you best come to the bridge yourself and see.” “I’ll be there in five minutes,” Drew answered, as he hurried into his changing room, where his uniform lay discarded on a chair. *** Entering the bridge, Drew found the ship still at Yellow Alert, which he took to be a good sign. If the Bartlet had been destroyed or something equally disastrous had occurred, Dan would have taken the ship to Red Alert. “Report,” Drew said as he walked down to his chair. In answer, Dan pointed to the viewscreen, Drew followed his gaze and saw the unmistakable oval saucer section of a Nebula class ship. “They separated the ship?” Drew said, more to himself than anyone else, “why?” “At this stage we don’t know,” Jon Park answered from Tactical, “scans show no sign of any damage and all systems on the saucer section appear to be running, although there are no life signs.” “We need answers,” Drew said, taking his seat, “Dan, prepare an Away Team, take Jon, Seth and Tristan, find out what happened over there.”

“We need answers,” Drew said, taking his seat, “Dan, prepare an Away Team, take Jon, Seth and Tristan, find out what happened over there.”
"Aye, Admiral," Dan said, raising out of his chair, and looked at Park. "You heard the man, Commander."
As Park paused to allow Dan to enter the turbolift first, Dan tapped his commbadge. "Trek to Commander Littlewood and Lieutenant Helacaan. Meet me in Transporter Room 1 in five minutes."
<Tag Jon, Tristan and Seth >
Ten minutes later, the 4-man away team was beaming into the Bartlet's Transporter Room. Everything looked fine, the place was just...empty. Why would a perfectly intact saucer section simply be left near a planet? Had something happened to the drive section? And where was the crew?
"Let's get to the Bridge. Hopefully we'll be able to find some answers," Dan said, and looked at Tristan and Seth. "I'd have you two check out the Engine Room, but since the Drive Section is missing..." He just trailed off, and motioned for them to follow him toward a turbolift.
< Meanwhile: On Magnus Prime >
General Mustev approached the Imperial throne. "Your Excellency?"
Emperor Stevenson glared at his Chief of Security for interrupting his thoughts. "Yes, General?"
"Now that the Drive Section is on the ground, I had a sensor sweep run of the Saucer. Four lifesigns just beamed aboard the Bartlet," Mustev reported.
"Any likely source?" Stevenson asked, his attention captured. Who in blazes was on his ship?
"Most likely an Akira-class starship holding station nearby," Mustev replied.
A fighter carrier? No doubt sent to investigate why the Bartlet had disappeared. Obviously Starfleet Command expected trouble one way or the other, if they sent such a heavily-armed vessel.
"Take a team, incapacitate them, secure them in the Brig, then find out what they think they're doing on my ship," Stevenson ordered. He wasn't taking any chances.

Tristan got the comm. Message from Commander Trek to meet him in transporter room one in five minutes, Tristan sighed as he closed the tricorder he was using to scan the wreckage from the destroyed ship now laying in the cargo bay.
He bent down and picked up the engineering kit he had brought with him and made his way off to the transporter room.
Ten minutes later Triastn, Dan Trek, Jon Park and Set Helacaan beamed over to the saucer section of the USS Bartlet, Tristan looked around Bartlet’s transporter room and noted that everything looked in working order. They all stepped off the transporter padd and walked to the middle of the room.
Tristan followed behind as they made their way to the closest turbolift, the ride was quick and they stepped off onto the bridge, Tristan was continuously scanning the room looking for a reason the ship had been separated and the saucer abandoned.
He moved to the engineering console and pressed a few control before turning to Commander Trek and saying.
“Sir.. I can’t see anything that would give a reason as to why the saucer section was abandoned everything seems to be in working order and can support a full compliment of crew.”

The Bartlet had been found, and Seth was left wondering why he had not been called to the bridge by the duty Ops officer earlier. It annoyed him slightly although it was nothing that would weigh on his mind too heavily. The Ops officer on duty at the Operations console was more than able; probably better than himself actually, Seth thought off-hand.
In disregard for authority, Seth had decided not to go to sickbay as Commander Littlewood had ordered. He didn't find it necessary, and felt an odd compulsion to stay away from the place, as if it held bad memories. Death, darkness.. Doctor Grey's domain had been left with an imprint of it. No one need know.. Seth told himself. If Littlewood wanted to bring it up later with him, then he would have to find out about it first. He could do that; if he happened to ask whoever was in sickbay about Seth's condition from the suddenly present radiation.
The Wezean had been making his way along a corridor, on deck 3, when he had got the comm message from the bridge. It was the Executive officer summoning Seth and Tristan to the transporter room; the Bartlet had been located.. without its drive section.
They materialised in the Bartlet's transporter room. It was like crossing over from a slightly older-looking version of the Nevada itself, as if they'd suddenly jumped forward a couple of decades during which the Akira class vessel had, for some reason, fallen into disuse. The Bartlet did indeed look that similar. The three made their way to the bridge. Once there, Littlewood reported that everything seemed normal on board. The big questions: where were the crew and why were they not aboard?
While the others continued looking around and taking in the surroundings, Seth wordlessly moved to the Ops console and accessed the ship's logs. Unsurprisingly, he found that they were heavily encrypted. Without the crew aboard, that would have been a standard procedure before they all left. So.. they had not all been killed then.. If something terrible and sudden had happened to the crew then there was a fair chance that the logs would not have been encrypted. Seth took a step back and let out a long, deep breath. He stepped up to the console again, slowly laying his fingers over the console's buttons. "I'm going to try and access the ship's logs," he said aloud to the others, "It should be able to tell us what happened here."
About half way through the process, Seth was interrupted. A sharp, thudding noise from outside of the bridge; the silence in the Bartlet's command centre gave the sudden noise a great poignancy. "What was that?" one of them mumbled.
The door behind which the sound had come from slid open, but strangely, only so far that a gap the width of a man's fist was made. Instinctively, Seth took cover; he'd been in this kind of situation before. He ducked behind the Ops console, his hand slipping to his side to grab his laser sidearm. Correction, his phaser. He peered at the door and through the gap, could see a mess of black-silhouetted figures moving around quickly. There were intruders on board the Bartlet; others than those in the Nevada's away team.

General Mustev lead his team aboard the Bartlet, eager to overtake those that had dared impose on their domain. With him were the best of his Security team from the Bartlet, who were now enjoying more higher prestige among the Magnans. Colonel Anna Maris, former Chief Tactical Officer, Colonel Desai, his Weapons Specialist, and Colonel Torel, former Alpha team commander, were now all feared names among the Magnans.
The team had gotten into the Conference Room via Jeffries Tubes from Deck 2. Use of the turbolift was too easily detected and circumvented, and not a tactically sound position from which to launch an assault.
"Dim the lights," Mustev said. "I don't want them to see us when we open the door. We need to incapacitate them quickly."
"These high-powered flash-bangs should take them out from a few minutes at least," Colonel Desai said, pulling the two grenades off his belt.
"Torel, the hyposprays please," Mustev said. Each of the four of them took a hypospray, to sedate one of intruders while they were stunned.
"The four lifesigns read as being at the Command chair, Tactical, Ops and Engineering stations," Maris reported The ones at the stations are all human, the internal sensors read that the one at the Captain's chair is the senior officer, a species I don't recognize, and massive. He's around two meters tall."
"I'll take him," Mustev said. "Maris, the one at Tactical, Desai the one at Ops, and Desai the one at the Engineering station. We all ready?"
As Desai and Maris took positions on either side of the door, Maris had no idea she was about to launch an assault on her own fiance. Torel went to open the door, but it stayed shut. He tried again, but it still didn't budge. He pounded his fist against it. "It's jammed."
Mustev's antennae arched forward in annoyance. "Get it open."
The door was forced open, but only by ten centimeters. "They know we're here," Mustev said, quickly moving out of view, worried that the surprise attack may have been spoiled.
Finally, the door was wrenched open, and in went the flash-bangs. Maris caught a surprising glimpse of the one at Tactical, and their eyes met. Jon??? She ducked back, and the team covered their eyes and ears as the Bridge was overpowering light and sound.
"Go!" Mustev called out, and the four of them rushed the Bridge. Mustev went to the intruder's commander, a very large, orange Commander 1st Class; likely their First Officer. The man wasn't entirely unconscious, and Mustev had to struggle to sedate him.
As Maris went over, she again beheld the form of her beloved fiance. "This one's my fiance."
"I wouldn't care even if he was your father!" Mustev said, as he finally sedated the massive Commander. "Take him out."
< Later: Bartlet Brig >
Finally the sedative wore off, and Dan came back to consciousness. His head feeling like someone had landed a shuttle on top of it, he opened his eyes. A Brig
Lovely, he thought to himself. Looking around, he found that he was on a bed, and saw the other three layed out on the floor.
"Everyone alright?" he asked.

Jon was on the Bridge when his program after he edited it for the Bartlet, when it went off. Checking his console he was the Bartlet without the star drive. Drew walked on to the bridge and called for red alert. Jon tapped his console and brought the ship to Red Alert. As the Shields and weapons charged, Jon checks the sensors for any incoming ships but found none.
Jon was reading the sensor report when Commander Trek ordered him to an away team. Waiting by the turbo lift doors for Dan to enter Jon got the sense that something was off with one of his commanding officer. Thinking to himself should he address his issue regarding his father given that he will have to take a leave from the ship he decided that he would wait till after the away mission and talk to the ships counsel.
As the team entered the Transporter room Jon went to the weapons locker and hander out hand Phasers to all members and gave himself a Phaser rifle. He stepped up and was transported to the Bartlet.
As the transporter affect left his eyes he saw the dim lights of the Bartlet Bridge. Opening his tricorder he look at the levels and found them normal. "Commander All levels on this ship are as if the crew was here." Jon walked over to the Tactical station and was reading that a security alert was send about 15 Min's ago. Jon was turning to inform Dan when he was a door slide open and a small Silver ball flew out. Just as Jon called out "Flash bang" it was to late.
Jon woke up in the Bartlet's Brig and saw the forms of his away teams members out like a light. Jon was always a fast healer and he sat up to see someone from his past. looking in the eyes of his past love he tried to talk but the name came out cracked. "Maris?" he looked again and it wasn't her but she was close he knew she was she was the only one who would have used the flash bang Technique that he devised in the Academy. Jon maybe able to use this to his advantage and may get her to help.

“Let’s carry on with those scans,” Drew ordered when the away team had left the ship, “Commander Thomas, keep a complete transporter lock on them at all times.”
Jon’s deputy nodded his understanding, and within seconds status icons for all members of the away team appeared on the master situation console. Each showed a green dot representing the away team member and confirming that a transporter lock was engaged.
Upon seeing this Drew, added the additional order for the away team to be beamed out at the first sign of trouble, including if any ships entered the system. He had also instructed the relief Ops Officer to continue scanning for the drive section of the Bartlet, as the saucer showed no outward signs of damage, it seemed likely that the drive section should still be intact somewhere. Standard procedure in these circumstances would have been to begin transmitting a hail on all frequencies, attempting to raise the Bartlet and assess their condition. However, given the evidence suggesting that the Bartlet may have gone renegade, Drew had decided that surprise was to their advantage. If the Bartlet crew had really turned into killers, then Drew would rather they did not know they were here.
Almost as if someone had been reading his mind, alarm bells sounded started to sound loudly on the bridge, followed by the equally loud exclamations of Commander Thomas.
“Unidentified life signs have just appeared on the Bartlet,” the Security Officer called out, “am registering weapon signatures, they are approaching the Away Team.”
“Get them out of there,” Drew ordered, raising from his chair and standing in the centre of the bridge, the better to see all the stations.
“Attempting to transport,” Thomas answered, “wait, no, sir, they are blocking the signal, transport has failed, we have also lost the signal for all members of the away team.”
“Red Alert,” Drew ordered, still standing in the centre of the bridge, “trace the transports, find out where they have come from.”
“The Bartlet’s systems are powering up,” Thomas continued, “shields and weapons are online.”
“You have got to be kidding me?” Drew said, finally sitting again in his chair, this time in shock. This was not meant to have happened, they had carried out scans there were no ships in the area, no where anyone could have beamed from. The Bartlet was meant to have been abandoned, not pointing its phasers at them with several Nevada crewmembers onboard.
“Open a channel, force it through their comm system,” Drew ordered, his voice filled with the cold calm that he certainly did not feel, “attention USS Bartlet, this is the USS Nevada, commanded by Section Admiral Paul Drew, I am ordering you to stand down and release my crewmembers to me now. Failure to do so will be treated as an act of aggression”
“They have heard you sir,” Thomas replied, “but there is no response.” “Fire a warning shot,” Drew answered, “show them we mean business.”
As a crimson gold beamed flew from the Nevada and struck the Bartlet’s shields, a full spread of torpedoes likewise flew from the Bartlet and hit the Nevada.
“Report!” Drew bellowed as the ship shook under the impact. “Forward shields down by 20%,” Thomas replied, “they are moving around for a second pass.”
“Full phasers, target all key locations,” Drew ordered, “keep them distracted for five minutes Commander.”
As the Nevada and Bartlet exchanged fire, Drew called up his personal console and began keying in commands. One of the advantages to being one of the most senior Admirals in Starfleet was that you had a very high security clearance. Entering in his personal codes, Drew again began to give out orders to his staff.
“In one minute their shields are going to go offline,” Drew said, still working from his console, “we will have about a thirty second window before they are able to counter my commands, prepare for a full senior sweep and beam out our people.”
As Drew keyed in the final command, he heard his Tactical Officer report that the Bartlet’s shields were indeed down, and that the sensor sweep was under way.
“Am having trouble locating our people,” Thomas called out, “they have moved locations and their comm badges have almost certainly been destroyed.”
“Look for Wezean life signs,” Drew suggested, “they will all be with Lieutenant Helacaan.” “I have located the Lieutenant,” Thomas said, “locking on.”
“Their shields are coming back online,” the Ops Officer called out.
“Well?” Drew demanded, looking over to Tactical. “Transport was successful,” Commander Thomas replied, “however, I was only able to get Lieutenant Helacaan, the shields came back online quicker than expected.”
“Damn,” Drew muttered, hitting his chair in frustration, before tapping his comm badge and summoning Sarlina to the transporter room to check on Seth’s condition.
“Sir, am reading more transporter signatures on the Bartlet,” Commander Thomas said, his hands flying widely over his console, “all life signs have been transported off the ship.”
“Where?” “I don’t know,” Thomas answered.
“Bridge to Counsellor Vise, as soon as you have checked over the Lieutenant, I want you both in the Briefing Room, we have a situation.”

Seth had had no time to react. The fleeting glimpse of a flash-bang, the blinding white light that also seemed to pierce his ears with an awful sound of ringing.. and then the next thing he knew, the sight of the brig.
He was last of the quartet of Nevada senior officer's to stir from the stunning flash-bangs. He was propped against the wall, opposite the brig's forcefield. The others were similarly sat or standing. Seth said nothing. In fact, no one said really said anything at all. Perhaps, Seth thought, everyone was still shaking off the flash-bangs' effects.. except Commander Park who looked as if he could not be wider awake; Seth knew the expression the CTSO wore, he just couldn't pin it, it was as if.. Park had seen a figure from his past.
"Everyone alright?" Trek asked now that he saw Seth was awake as well.
Seth nodded. As he did so, he got a sensation of the ship (or the saucer of it at least) making a sharp movement under him. Following that, a slight vibration of.. weapons fire? Seth shifted uncomfortably and frowned, "Are we firing at the Nevada?" he asked - virtually rhetorically.
The COO never discovered if there was a reply, because that was when the Nevada's transporter chief beamed him out.
He materialised seconds later in a sitting position on the transporter pad. He fell backwards and hit his head on the pads' floor. A slight gasp escaped his throat before he dragged himself to his feet and looked around unsteadily, trying to get his bearings. The door to the room swished open and Sarlina Vise strode in.
"Counselor?" Seth said, stepping down from the pads at last. "Where are the others? Why were they not beamed off with me?"
She explained to Seth that they locked on to his bio-signs hoping to get the others with him. "Wezean biosigns?" Seth asked, a bit confused. Then he realised, and found himself marvelling at Federation transporter technology, it could pick out the minor physical differences of Wezean colonists. Seth was a human of course, he was just surprised at how good the transporter tech was at picking up the slight divergence in his DNA.. He wondered if it could pick up the masked alien DNA Seth carried; he hoped not.
Vise interrupted, telling Seth she was to check on his condition.
Then on the comm, "Bridge to Counsellor Vise, as soon as you have checked over the Lieutenant, I want you both in the Briefing Room, we have a situation."
"How would you assess my condition, Counsellor?" Seth smiled ever so slightly; both of them realising they were now very short for time.
<tag Sarlina>
They made their way to the Briefing Room, being the only senior staff aboard other than Drew (who was waiting for them at their destination). They entered, following Drew, who had greeted them on the bridge. Seth felt a sudden urgency, past this briefing room business, to head back and rescue his fellow away teamers who were now stranded on the Bartlet's saucer section. Perhaps, thought Seth, he was feeling a small pang of guilt at being recovered back to the Akira class vessel. If it was indeed guilt he was experiencing, then it was about to get a lot worse.
After they'd sat down in the briefing room, Admiral Drew filled Seth and Sarlina in on what had just happened; how Commanders Trek, Park and Littlewood had all been beamed off the Bartlet to where they knew not. The worst ran through his head, that they had all somehow died. He slipped into surreality. It had all gone so fast. The bridge flash bangs, the brig, the beaming off and now to the Nevada's bridge and this... It was too much. Seth felt himself looking almost accusingly at Drew and Vise; they could not know what emotions he had just been through, they were not in the situations he had just been in. It was unreasonable to think that, he knew it. Everyone fought their own war, had their own problems to resolve, to pretend that Admiral Drew had not been through some form of turmoil, at seeing the events unfold from the bridge, was grossly unfair.
He looked back at Drew again, waiting for him to say something else, to distribute orders.. Seth had several in mind, but this was Drew's ship, Drew's show, not his.

Sarlina walked into the room to see Seth step off of the transporter pad. He looked a little unsteady, but was able to move. That was a good sign.
"Where are the others? Why were they not beamed off with me?"
"I'm sorry. But we had limited time, and with the comm badges destroyed... We located the Weazan life form on the ship, assuming that the others would be with you. But we were out of time, and you were the only one we were able to rescue."
"Weazan biosigns?"
"Exactly. I'm supposed to-"
Her comm badge chimed, interrupting them. "Bridge to Counsellor Vise, as soon as you have checked over the Lieutenant, I want you both in the Briefing Room, we have a situation."
"How would you assess my condition, counselor?"
"Fine. Shall we go?"

After a while of being left in the cell in the Brig, wondering where Helacaan was, and hoping he was back on Nevada, Dan was growing impatient. His demands for information went unheeded, as if they were simply bouncing off the force field holding them in. But apparently, one demand he made ("I want to speak to your Commanding Officer!") was eventually met.
A man, better dressed than the others, but still wearing a vest from a Starfleet uniform, stepped into the Brig, and came up to their cell. He looked them over, and he and Dan spent a while just staring at each other, as if trying to burn holes in each other's retinas. Dan actually considered doing exactly that psionically, but that it best not to assault their captors.
"Alright," the man finally said. "Who are you, and what are you doing on my ship?"
"Captain Stevenson, I presume?" Dan asked.
"That's Emperor Stevenson, thank you," Stevenson replied.
"Emperor?" Dan asked. "Emperor of what?"
"Of Magnus Prime," Stevenson answered.
"I see," Dan said. "So instead of just making First Contact with these people, you declared yourself ruler?"
"Enough questions," Stevenson said. "Your turn to answer mine. Who are you?"
"Commander Dan Trek, First Officer of the USS Nevada," Dan replied.
"Nevada...she's captained by that Ferengi, isn't she?" Stevenson asked.
"We've had a change of command," Dan said. "Our CO is Paul Drew."
"Vice Admiral Paul Drew?" Stevenson asked. "So my old friend was sent to find me after my ship went missing?"
"Actually, he chose the assignment himself," Dan said. "Your old friend's been promoted. It's now Section Admiral Drew."
"I see," Stevenson said, and began walking away.
"Hey!" Dan said. "I want to speak to the Admiral!"
Stevenson looked back as he left. "Oh, I'll do that for you," he said, and left.
Back on the Bridge of the Bartlet, Stevenson walked in and took the center chair for the first time in a long while. "Hail the Nevada."
"USS Bartlet to USS Nevada, respond."

Jon sat in the brig and watched as Dan and this former Star-fleet Captain who has now betrayed the Prime directive and appointed himself Emperor spoke. Jon saw the security personal watching them close and Jon knew what each was thinking or at least what he would be thinking if he was in there place.
As the "Emperor" left the Brig after learning that Drew was now a Section admiral Jon walked over to Dan. "Sir do you think it was wise to inform him of Drew's Promotion." As he looked in the eyes of his Superior officer he saw what Jon thought was regret for letting that piece of info out. "No Commander i thought it would work to our advantage." Dan replied. Jon looked at him "Well sir what should we do now?"
<Tag Dan>
Jon went back to the where he was sitting before and watched the guards as they changed shifts and saw one person from the Bartlet's personal file take post. A young ensign fresh out of the academy on his first assignment. Jon went to the door making sure he was not close to the door and said. "Ensign Jonas." The Young ensign at first didn't pay him any mind but Jon pressed his luck. "Ensign Jonas i know who you are." Dan watched Jon out of the corner of his eye and wondered what Jon was up too. If Jon was right he wasn't told of prisoner were. "Ensign why would you follow such orders that are in clear violation of the prime directive." Jonas looked at him and replied "Shut up." Jon knew he was getting to him.
Jon knew Dan was looking at him and gave Dan the signal he was OK. Jon pushed it a little more. "Jonas are you sure you want to follow Stevenson in what he is doing." Jonas looked away at first then back. " If you know what is good for you then Shut up." Jonas yelled at him. Jon knew he got him. "Ensign Jonas i am a Commander and i order you to bring me to your security chief. Lt Commander Maris." Jonas looked at him and replied Sorry your not allowed to give me order's Commander you have no authority here."
Jon knew he was going to see Maris soon and hoped that his past would help him when he saw her. Until then the Underlings would be no help.

As soon as Seth walked into the briefing room, Drew noted his sorry decomposition. The Ops Officer appeared agitated, and while Drew spoke, Seth kept fidgeting in his seat, then staring at Drew, with a look in his eyes that Drew had not seen before. Attempting to bring the Lieutenant back from wherever he was drifting off to, Drew began questioning him.
“Who attacked you Lieutenant?” he asked, taking care to use Seth’s rank, hoping it would help focus the officer.
Drew listened with concern as Seth began to relate what had happened on the Bartlet’s bridge, the unexpected beam ins, flash bangs and the bridge. In truth it sounded like Seth did not really know what had happened, events had moved very quickly and he was clearly confused. However, he did remember enough to know his attackers were mostly human. This made it likely the attackers were the Bartlet crew.
“Why attack fellow officers?” Drew thought out loud, “there is nothing in any of their files to suggest they would go renege like this.”
This last comment was directed more to Sarlina, who had been reviewing the details of the Bartlet crew since the Nevada’s departure from Starbase 47.
<Sarlina>
Before Drew could properly reply to the Counsellor, the meeting was interrupted by a call from the bridge. Someone on the Bartlet was attempted to hail them.
“Let’s go,” Drew said to his two remaining senior staff. The three officers rose from their chairs and walked out onto the bridge. Seth went to take his station at Ops, but Drew directed him to the empty First Officer chair instead. With all the rest of the senior staff gone, Seth was now the most senior bridge officer remaining.
“Someone from the Bartlet has been hailing constantly for the last minute,” Commander Thomas said from Tactical, “voice recognition systems confirm it is Captain Stevenson.
“Very well, open a channel,” Drew said, turning his full attention to the viewscreen, he began his speech, “Captain Stevenson, this is Admiral Drew. I think you have some explaining to do.”

"Well sir what should we do now?"
"For now, we wait," Dan replied. "Any attempts of escape on our part would likely prove fatal. We'll have to trust the Admiral's abilities."
After listening to Park's exchange with the seemingly-former Ensign, Dan commented, "Nicely done, Commander. If nothing else, that may at least attract your fiance's attention.
< Meanwhile: Bartlet Bridge >
“Captain Stevenson, this is Admiral Drew. I think you have some explaining to do.”
Stevenson looked taken aback. "I have explaining to do? I believe it is you that has some explaining to do."
"For example, why your officers were trespassing on the sovereign property of the Magnan Empire. Magnus is not a Federation world, and since we have resigned our commissions, you have no authority here. I wouldn't want challenge me if I were you, if you ever want to see your First Officer again. And I have two of your senior officers as well. Let me guess, your Chief of Security and your Chief Engineer? Just what are their lives worth to you, Admiral?"

Seth settled into the huge Executive officer's chair, usually occupied by Commander Trek's sizeable frame. He pitched forward, hand on his knee and turned his attention from Ops (manned by Bovois at this time) to the viewscreen where Commander Thomas had opened a audio and visual channel to the USS Bartlet.
The man that appeared on the viewscreen immediately stunned Seth with his eccentric and entirely remarkable appearance. "Oh.." Seth made a sound, his gaze transfixed on the fascinatingly dressed and interesting individual that identified himself as Emperor Stevenson. His eyes, gripped by a fever seemingly, the condition of.. megalomania? coursing through his body. His command-division crimson uniform vest was beyond tattered but it was oddly fitting. The common black and grey Starfleet jacket was no longer part of his attire, and the rather ornate looking robe he wore over his uniform vest seemed to - bizarrely - go quite well.
Helacaan watched on as Drew conversed heatedly with the 'Emperor'. Seth tried to impart his presence on the conversation, showing that he was in support of the Section Admiral. He thought he'd never be cut out for this kind of thing.
".. Just what are their lives worth to you, Admiral?" Stevenson was saying.
Seth expected a sharp reply from the Admiral, but instead, there was what he thought to be a brief moment of consideration on the Nevada's bridge. Seth checked behind, silently meeting eyes with Commander Thomas and Crewman Bovois. He dared not speak and give something away to Stevenson on the screen, but he, and the whole bridge, needed to know if there was any option for rescuing the missing trio. Thomas seemed to figure out what was Seth was asking. He worked on his console, searching for a way.
They were in a difficult position; they were the superior ship, geared towards offensive capability while the Bartlet's type was a little more biased towards exploration, but to attack could result in something happening to Trek, Park and Littlewood; at worse, some form of execution. However if they did not attempt to rescue them then the consequences could be just as dire.
With a glance to the impassively waiting Stevenson, Seth whispered in Drew's ear. "Could we cut the channel and tell them in a minute?" he asked rather inelegantly (he knew this was not his field of expertise - in Starfleet terms at least). "Stevenson unhappily accepted the quick interlude.
"Sir," Seth said to Drew as soon as the 'Emperor's' image blinked away into blackness on the viewscreen, "May I be so bold as to recommend we attack? If we assault now with enough prejudice then they may be taken offguard. We can't let our own be held captive like this."

“Why attack fellow officers? There is nothing in any of their files to suggest they would go renege like this.”
"One thing I noticed when I was reviewing the files was the crew's loyalty to their superior officers. Most of them have exemplary records of doing what they're told without questioning. All Starfleet has it to an extent, but even more so with the crew of the Bartlet. Some of the crew might listen and follow orders of the superiors, even if such orders would involve harming other Starfleet personnel."
A call from the bridge stopped whatever reply Drew was going to make. Instead, Drew stood up and left, with Sarlina and Seth following him.
Sarlina managed to suppress a shudder. Stevenson meant every word, she was sure of it. Someone who would attack Starfleet officers was just a step away from killing them. They'd need to tread carefully to make sure that Stevenson didn't take that extra step.

Soon after the former ensign told him they have no authority Jon heard the brig doors open and in walked his past. Lt.Commander Anna Maris walked up to the force field. "Well if it isn't the CSTO of the Federation starship Nevada." The way she said the last part was almost full of hate. "So should i call you Commander or what?" Jon replied always being a wise guy that made her fall in love with him so long ago. Anna looked at him. " Jon because we have a past i can't promise that will save you."
Jon looked in her eyes and saw she was fighting something from inside like regret. "Anna what made you decide to leave the oath you took and take rule of this world?" She looked away and Jon pushed the issue. "Anna we were going to be married don't you think i deserve to know why." Anna signaled to the guard and he dropped the Field and motioned for Jon to step out. Dan went to say something and Jon knowing he was going to get answers he said. "Commander i will be ok." Looking at Anna when he said the rest. "She won't hurt me." Jon steeped out with Anna and they walked out.
Anna walked him into a big room and they spoke about the past and she was side stepping the reason why the "Captain" took over this world. Jon stood there and listened and tried to understand how she decided to change her life. "Anna you know it's not to late. Help us and i will tell them you helped and get you a lighter time in a rehab center. You know this won't be the end of your career." Anna looked at him and feel into his arms crying. "Jon i want to help you but i can't. I pledged my life to the emperor." Jon held her as she cried and said. " Your the Best CSTO in the fleet other then me of course we can figure it out. What we need to do is......
One hour later
Jon steeped back into the Brig about an hour later and went back to his spot. Dan watched him and was shocked he wasn't telling him what happened right away. Anna Yelled at the Brig guard and sent him away and took watch. Jon walked around checking some of the people with them. Soon he was next to Dan and he told him. " Anna has agreed to help us she don't believe in what Captain Stevenson has done. We have worked on a plan but we need to wait for the next shift to relive her in about 4 hours."

Drew considered his response carefully. He could see the logic in Seth’s suggestion, they certainly had the tactical advantage over Stevenson and the Bartlet, but would attacking them now resolve the problem? Drew had been willing to do so in the first instance, partly because he believed at the time they would have been able to recover all of the Nevada crew before anything could be done to them, and also because he felt a demonstration of their strength and firepower might have weakened the resolve of the Bartlet crew. As it was, neither had seemed to happen, although they had now managed to at least establish communication with Captain Stevenson.
Drew explained his reluctance to attack to his bridge crew, like them he had concerns about the safety of the Away Team and wanted to bring them back safely, but sometimes diplomacy was the best step forward. A quick look at Sarlina also told him that Stevenson really did mean what he said, as far as Drew was concerned, the man had gone crazy.
“Re-establish communication,” Drew ordered.
Stevenson’s image again appeared on the viewscreen. He appeared overly confident and far too sure of his own ability and importance for Drew’s liking, how had this man ever made it to Starship Captain?
“Captain Stevenson,” Drew began, deliberately using the “Emperor’s” correct title, “your government is not recognised by the Federation, as such standard regulations do not apply to you. Likewise, that which you claim as your property is in fact a Starfleet Starship, and owed by the Federation.”
Stevenson laughed, and then began talking over Drew, “Please Admiral, that is a lame duck ex…”
“I hadn’t finished talking Captain,” Drew replied harshly, “you may consider yourself to have resigned your commission, but I am sure you remember Starfleet protocol for addressing a Flag Officer.”
“I am however, willing to negotiate with you for the safe return of my crew and to discuss the situation here, I would suggest we meet face to face, and I am as a gesture of good faith, I am willing to allow you to pick the time and place of our meeting. I am sure you need time to consider my proposal, so you have two Earth hours to give me an answer, Drew out.”
As soon as Stevenson’s image disappeared from the screen, Drew turned back to his officers and began issuing orders:
“We need to start monitoring the communications from the Bartlet, we should be able to hack into them, we also need to establish where Stevenson’s base is on the planet, detailed scans should reveal that, Sarlina, I’d also like you to study the Captain’s record in detail, find anything that we can use against him at the negotiation table.”

Lilyanna Parker was walking around below decks and getting familiar with the ships layout when the ship was rocked violently. The corridor flashed from regular lighting to the Red Hue of an alert. Since she was a relief helmsman she knew to head to her quarters until or if she was requested.
About an Hour later she was walking the ship again after they were underway again heading to the planet. Her combadge went off. =/\= "Ensign Parker please report to my office." She knew the voice of the First officer of the Nevada. So she heads to the nearest turbo lift. After arriving at his office she stood there as he explained that there Chief Helm officer was killed in the incident that happened aboard the Nevada about an hour ago. Dan stood up and offered his hand "I here by grant you the position of Chief Helm Officer and promote you from crewman to the rank of Acting Ensign."
Lilyanna couldn't believe it she had just arrived on the Nevada and now was the head of a department. She took Dan's hand and said. "Thank you sir." Heading out after he dismissed her she walked to the turbo lift and headed to the bridge. Stepping up to the helm she looked it over as the officer there started to get up. "As you were Ensign." she looked at the station and looked as the ship was at warp. She loved the stars as they showed them going faster then light.
She left the bridge and headed to her office on deck 8. She walked in and saw the former Helm officer had not really put anything in her office. She saw some bags of hers in her main office. she walked into the secondary space and saw the rest there. The crewman had moved her stuff and changed the command codes for her. After they arrived at the planet she heard the Admiral order an away team and headed to the bridge since half the command crew was going to be off ship.
As she sat at the helm she watched ever thing start to go wrong in her mind. As she heard that they found a crew member from the away team and transported him back to the ship. so she was sitting on the bridge waiting to find out what they wanted her to do to help.

It wasn't Seth's place to question the Commanding officer of the Nevada and of all of Section 47. That was what he had told himself, and he had decided to abide by that. He'd walked to his station, and had begun the process of hacking the communication network of the Bartlet. He also started conducting a full scan of the planet, Magnus Prime.
The Emperor's base was down there somewhere, whatever Admiral Drew had in mind regarding it, or if Stevenson chose that as the place for the meeting, they would at least know where it was on the surface. The full scan would take twenty minutes to half an hour, Seth knew; the Emperor's domain would not be found that easily (unless it was completely blindingly obvious).
To assist in the scans, the Nevada, at Seth's request, was permitted to enter an orbit of Magnus Prime by the Bartlet. Seth raised his eyebrow, he hadn't expected his offhand request to be granted. Perhaps Stevenson did want the meeting on the surface, at some neutral location maybe or more likely in the Imperial palace or whatever equivalent of that they had. Drew ordered the new Helm Chief, Acting Ensign Parker to take the Nevada into an orbit. The Bartlet followed her in, looming over the rear of the Akira class vessel like some preying hawk keeping a ready eye on its target.
<tag LilyAnna>
"Admiral," Seth said, calling Drew to one side of the bridge and speaking in hushed tones. He couldn't contain himself any longer, the question he had been containing was beating on the inside of his head, demanding to be let out. "Are you really considering trading our officers for allowing Stevenson dominion over these people?"
Whatever the answer, Seth needed to know. This was hitting surprisingly close to home for him, and he could not for the good of his own conscience let the matter go unaddressed for himself.
<tag Drew>
Ten minutes later a noise from the Wezean's console told him that his decryption algorithm had accessed the Bartlet's comms network. With a small smile and a triumphant gleam in his eyes, Seth skipped to the Ops station. He was feeling not at all indifferent and enthusiastic, surprisingly willing to take pride in his job. "I have access to the Bartlet's communication and information exchange systems," he reported, "We can observe.. I'm getting nothing over where they want to hold the meeting, Stevenson must be keeping it to himself or at least off the comms. Looks like we'll have to wait..." Seth looked eagerly at the viewscreen while the minutes started ticking by.

As Stevenson considered the Admiral's proposal, he couldn't help but consider the idea of working from the bottom up. Rather than try to sway the Admiral, or overwhelm him with superior force, why not make use of his officers that were sitting in the Brig?
Stevenson entered the Brig, and looked over his prisoners. It wasn't too difficult to identify the Chief of Security. Maris had shown him pictures of the two of them often to readily identify him. "Lower the force field," Stevenson said. "And bring that one." He pointed to Park.
And, predictably, the First Officer reacted to protect his subordinate. "Take me instead," Trek replied. "I'm the superior officer." But Trek was stunned with a phaser when he attempted to stop the guards.
The second Park was out of the cell, and the force field re-engaged, Park was sedated with a hypospray. Couldn't have him trying to escape, now could they?
Some minutes later, Park was resuscitated in a chair in the Observation Lounge. Ever the Security Officer, Stevenson could see the Commander immediately start surveying his surroundings, both to get his bearings, and consider his options.
"I've got a full security team watching in on us, so don't bother trying anything," he told Park. He put a bottle of synthehol and a glass on the table in front of Park. He opened the bottle, and filled the glass. "Thirsty? You've been in that cell a while."
"It's Commander Park, isn't it?" Stevenson asked after leaving the glass there for Park to take. "My Tactical Officer has told me a lot about you. How brave a man you are, how fine a security officer you are. She goes on and on about you off-duty."
"Your Admiral is trying to swoop in and take all this away from me," Stevenson continued. "I'm just trying to help these people out, and just because I want a little respect in return, he acts like I've committed genocide."
"I'm a very powerful man now, Commander. Far more powerful than your Admiral, even though he doesn't see that. And I'm willing to give you a place in that power, if you'll help me with something. Oh, I know...the word 'loyalty' is bouncing around your mind like a two-year-old on a sugar-high. But consider that lovely fiance of yours. I can imagine how you'd react if something were to happen to her, and you know...accidents happen."
He paused a moment to let that sink in. "So, will you help me, Colonel Park? How does Colonel sound to you? It's yours, the rank, the power, if you'll agree to help me with something."
