Drew could tell from the tense silence that no one on the bridge had expected him to offer to deal with “Emperor” Stevenson. As far as people were concerned this man was a traitor to the Federation, who had violated his oath to uphold the principles that they all held dear, including that most scared principle of non-intervention. To enslave a pre-warp civilization went against everything that Starfleet stood for. Such a man, Drew knew, should not be trusted, but right now, Stevenson held all the cards.
Drew’s suspicions about his crew’s thoughts were confirmed but the rather blunt question that Seth posed to Drew. Although the Acting First Officer had asked in a quiet voice, Drew knew that every ear on the bridge would have pricked up, waiting to see what the Captain’s answer would be.
“No Lieutenant,” Drew answered, in a voice loud enough so he could be heard by all around him, “I have no intention of allowing Captain Stevenson or any of his crew to continue enslaving the native population, but I would rather achieve our goals with the loss of as little life as possible.”
As the minutes ticked by, Drew watched as his crew carried out their tasks. Seth had been successful in accessing the Bartlet’s communications, but they were still no closer to detecting the planet based headquarters of the Bartlet crew. The time limit set upon Stevenson was now fast approaching, and with still no idea of where the rest of the Bartlet’s crew were or what they had actually done to the population, Drew was facing a difficult decision. But perhaps it was time to even the odds.
“Lieutenant,” Drew said to Seth, “begin assembling security and marine teams in the shuttlebay and prepare our fighters for deployment.”
“Sir?” Seth asked in confusion.
“Am going to force our Emperor to the table,” Drew replied, “if we act quickly, we may be able to capture the Bartlet and the crew aboard her without anyone on the surface noticing, but it is going to require timing.”
“Ensign Parker,” Drew continued, now addressing the Helm Officer, “plan out an assault route for our fighters, then prepare to coordinate a joint attack between them and the Nevada against the Bartlet, I want to disable every major system within two minutes of attack, especially communication.”
“Seth, once the Bartlet’s shields are down, beam assault teams aboard and capture the ship. Locate our people as quickly as possible and return them here. I also want Stevenson brought in alive.”
“Let’s move people.”

Imperial Regent of Magnus Prime Alexandra Lax, formerly Starfleet Commander and First Officer of the USS Bartlet sat back in her imperial throne and laughed.
That idiot Stevenson had done it again. As with everything the man touched he reacted too quickly and too harshly, never stopping to consider the bigger picture, never stopping to consider how a situation might be used to their advantage. It had been his biggest mistake as a starship Captain, and it was certainly going to be his undoing as an Emperor, Alexandra would see to that.
With news of another Starfleet ship entering the sector, Stevenson had predictably reacted with force and led an assault team against the Starfleeters on the Stevenson’s Engineering section, still left drifting in space. From the imperial throne room, Alexandra had watched the engagement that had taken place with the Starfleet ship, that she now knew was the USS Nevada, under the command of her dear old friend Paul Drew. Like Stevenson, Drew had behaved in a predictable manner, as all Starfleet Officers of a certain age seemed to do. Well now Alexandra would crush them both, Drew and Stevenson, and show everyone who was really superior. Those stupid counsellors at Starfleet had tried to tell her she was unfit, that she had anger management issues! That she, a daughter of Betazed, would never command a Starship, that she lacked the ability or the emotional wellbeing for such a position. Well now she would show them, she would defeat two Starship Captains, and in the process become the Empress of a new Empire, one that would defeat and subject the United Federation of Planets.
Drew’s tactics were so obvious that all she had to do was sit back and wait. He may talk of a peaceful solution, but she knew him. He would attack the Bartlet and attempt to use Stevenson has a means to bring about her downfall. Well let him capture the ‘Emperor’, she would do nothing to help the weak minded fool, Drew was doing her a favour by capturing him. She would of course play the right game, say the right words, gain Drew’s trust and then, at the right moment, she would take his ship and destroy him, and that fool Stevenson.
Then no one would stand in her way, no one would be able to stop her!

Jon was about to put the plan that him and Maris had worked out when Stevenson entered and pointed to him. As Jon was being dragged out of the cell he heard Commander Trek say something about taking him as a Senior officer but Jon knew that wasn't part of Stevenson plan for them. Park felt the hypo hit his neck then darkness.
Jon awoke in the ships Observation Lounge looking around for any signs of where they were and who was with them. Stevenson started talking to him about power and positions. Stevenson said something of hurting Anna with a accident and then he said "So, will you help me, Colonel Park? How does Colonel sound to you? It's yours, the rank, the power, if you'll agree to help me with something."
Jon thought about it for a few seconds and spoke. "Its a big choice to make in such a short time a man of your power and stature must see that." Choosing his next word Jon added. "What do you want me to do for you. Maybe if it's a something i would like i will go for it."

Ensign Parker sat at the helm and watched as the Bartlet moved away from the Nevada. Drew ordered her to follow the Bartlet and she responded by tapping the controls. A while later drew turned to her again.
“Ensign Parker,” Drew said, now addressing the Helm Officer, “plan out an assault route for our fighters, then prepare to coordinate a joint attack between them and the Nevada against the Bartlet, I want to disable every major system within two minutes of attack, especially communication.”
Parker responded "Aye sir. Lt.Kyle take the helm. Commander Thomas your assistance please." As she headed to the Security station and the master control board. Calling up a map of the sector she started to plan a attack with Commander Park's Second of command. She worked on a three stage attack with 4 fighter wings of the Nevada's fighters.
Each Wing of fighters would consist of 5 fighters to a squad and focus on the Shields first then the weapons. Then with the Nevada providing back up they would take out the communications of the Bartlet. Parker moved the plan to a padd and took it over to Drew and handed the padd to him. "Sir i have a plan for your review."

"Oh no, Commander," Stevenson replied. "It doesn't work like that. Surely you can understand why you wouldn't want to let someone from the opposition in on your plans and then let them go. Colonel Maris, if you join us please."
The door to the Observation Lounge opened a few moments later, and Maris entered. She looked briefly at her fiance, then turned her attention to Stevenson. "Yes, Excellency?"
"Come here, Colonel," Stevenson ordered.
Maris walked over to Stevenson, and he whipped a phaser off his belt and held it to her head. "Don't move, Colonel."
"Is this incentive enough for you, Commander?" Stevenson asked Park. "Agree to help me, or your lovely fiance dies."

As he watches Stevenson's hold a phaser to Anna's head Jon was thinking fast. Jon knew he was going to lose Anna if he didn't do anything however would he lose his soul if he maid a deal with the devil so to speck.
Jon spoke "If i do this i want your word that Commander Trek or the others are not harmed or i swear on my last breath you will never live to see the next day, My emperor." Jon spoke as he got on one knee in front of Stevenson.
Stevenson had Jon rise and informed him of him new title and he shook his hand and also added."Ever threaten my girl again and i will kill you where you stand."

Jon was then shown to his new Office and he was given his new command codes and told to lower the Nevada's shields. Never knowing that Jon was using the Star fleet Emergency command codes to override all his commands to harm the Nevada. Stevenson saw what Jon wanted him to see hoping he wasn't going to find out the truth. Jon kept a Phaser ready just incase.

".. I would rather achieve our goals with the loss of as little life as possible."
Seth had nodded at Drew's response, feeling somewhat cowed in his righteousness and brought out of his moment of worry. He was also fully aware that the rest of the bridge had been listening. He'd shifted around a little uncomfortably, and made his way back to the Ops station.
A few minutes later and the bridge was a bustle with activity. Drew's orders of launching the fighters with a view to a coordinated, precision assault on the rogue vessel before them had sprung everyone back to life. Seth had moved instantly. He poked his head in between Ensign Parker and Commander Thomas. "Commander, sir," he said to Thomas, "I'm going to ready your department's assault teams for you."
He commed the appropriate departments, informing them of the beam-out coordinates for each respective security and marine team who were being assigned the away mission. The Wezean Ops officer hoped the teams knew what they were doing; the Nevada had three members of their senior staff aboard that ship, not just a select number of renegade Starfleet officers. Of course the teams did, now was the time to trust others, place your faith in others, play your part in the well-oiled cog that was a Starfleet vessel at work. How conservative and ordinary a thought!
Shrugging it off, Seth went back to Ops, checked the reports coming in over the ship and tapped his commbadge. "Fighter Bay Alpha, COO; Bovois, are you there?"
"Hear you loud and clear, K."
Seth winced slightly, glancing at his console, "Status of fighter launch-prep please, Crewman.. and I would appreciate it if you would not call me that. Lieutenant or Sir is more appropriate given your position and rank."
"Sorry, Lieutenant.." Bovois said, sounding a little hurt, "On schedule, all of squadron is ready for deployment.. last fuel lines being extracted now."
Seth clicked his commbadge off and gave his report of readiness to Drew, who was just now approving Ensign Parker's plan for the attack pattern. "Admiral, all appropriate departments report readiness for operation. I'm ready to give the squadron leader his green light."
The Nevada, squaring off against the similarly sized vessel that was positioned a few kilometres off the Akira's forward bow, displayed its fearsome compliment of fighters. The comparitively small, grey specks slipped out of the Nevada's main launch bay and powered their way rapidly to the Bartlet on Ensign Parker's deceptively evasive but aggressive pattern.

"Excellent work, Colonel Park," Stevenson said, entering Park's office, a hypospray concealed behind his back. "Having the Nevada's shields under our control will make getting Admiral Drew and the Nevada out of our way much easier."
"Now, I have another assignment for you," he said, and then swiftly pressed the hypospray to the base of Park's neck. After injecting it's contents, he said, "That was a micro-transmitter. It'll help ensure you complete your assignment the way I want you to."
"You see, I'm in a bit of a predicament, Colonel," Stevenson explained. "We have the power have do on this world because it was the price we demanded for giving the Magnans medical aid. But their needs have proven more extensive than I anticipated they would be. Certain medications are running low, and we can't replicate them."
He held out a PADD. "I need you to procure as much as you can of the supplies on this list from the Nevada. I'll have you get back there, probably by making some deal that makes Drew thinks he's winning. Oh, and don't tell any of your shipmates of your assignment. That micro-transmitter will record anything you say, so I'll know if you try."
"I'm going to send you back to your cell with your shipmates," Stevenson continued. "Tell them I offered you power, prestige to betray, but you refused. I'll have you dragged it in, make it look like I tried to coerce you. Oh and one other thing to make this more believable, that I do apologize for..."
Stevenson suddenly belted Park across the face with his hand.
< Later, Brig >
Dan looked up in concern as Park was dragged back into the cell, his face bruised, and nearly thrown in. "Commander, are you alright?" Dan asked.

Sitting on the bench in the brig Tristan began to feel rather claustrophobic and hungry but the claustraphobia was worse. He looked around trying to figure out a way to break out, however he knew it was pointless Starfleet designed them to hold the smartest and strongest of prisoners.
Park had been gone for a while and Tristan was beginning to get worried, if Park had said something wrong or tried something he had no idea what Stevenson would do.
Tristan looked to Dan Trek who was sitting quietly watching the guard and said. “Not my idea of a shore leave destination.”
Just as he finished his sentence the doors to the brig slid open and two men dragged Park back to the cell, the force field shut down for a few seconds, just enough time for them to shove Park in.
Dan Trek stood up first to ask if Park was ok.
Tristan sneered at the guards as they triumphantly walked away.

Jon was working on a back door into his new Co's Systems and hadn't seen Maris all day. next to his desk the open combadge from his former uniform was opened and Jon was touching the components inside looking for something. Stevenson entered with a hand behind his back. Jon already knew what it was since Maris told him before hand that he was going to get an implant installed.
Jon had before he returned to his office and was inside his new quarters he had taken a hypospray of a neural blocker. Park had no idea what Stevenson could put in his body, so Jon used a blocked he had heard the ACMO talking about a few months back.
He was reading the Padd and got the list into memory when he was backhanded by Stevenson. Jon blacked out with a smile on his face like he knew it was coming.
---Brig---
Jon awoke with Dan looking him over. the guards were nice enough to give Dan a basic medical tricorder and Dan gave him the once over. "I am ok Commander." Jon said hoping the blocker was working a little to Stevenson it should look like his body is attacking the micro-transmitter like a virus. knowing that he could hear him a little bit he kept the game up. "I was brought to Stevenson and was offered power and wealthy to help him concor this world." Dan looked at him as did Littlewood.
"I think we are going to be sent back to the Nevada. Stevenson was talking to Admiral Drew when i was backhanded by one of the guards." Jon was giving Stevenson a story to feed Dan and Tristan later when he sent them back. About one hour in walked three guards and Maris. "We have orders to return you to the Nevada." Maris Dropped the Field and the guards motioned for them to exit. Heading out the turned to the right and walked down a long hall. Entering the transporter room, Maris walked up and started to tap commands into the console.
Maris reached under the console and pulled a phaser from where it is kept. Touching the transport and time delay command she took the phaser and fired at one of the guards. As the guard dropped and the others turned around Park moved to the fallen guards weapon and Trek and littlewood jumped the other guard as Maris took the second guard down. after a few seconds the third guard was taken down and Maris joined them on the platform and was transported away to the Nevada.
---USS Nevada----
Jon,Dan,Tristan and Anna Maris materialized on the Nevada to see a set of Security guards with there phasers pointed at them and a set of medical personal waiting. No one knowing that the whole "escape" was planed. Maris was taken in to custody for treason and Jon gave he a kiss before she was taken away. Jon Dan and Tristan were being scanned by the team of medical staff and both Jon and Dan both stated they were fine. The medical team as we as Jon and Dan looked at each other and started to laugh.
In sickbay Jon knew the doctors found the chip and he was placed in a Force Field blocking the transmiton of the signal and to Stevenson it would look like normal interference. Dan and Drew entered sickbay and Jon was questioned to what happened. "Maris never wanted to get involved in what happened. She was being loyal to her Commanding officer. She doesn't want to throw her life away." when Drew asked him about Maris. "She will help us, but we need to do something first." Drew and Dan looked at him and knew his plan would only work if his Commanding officer would agree to the plan.
Entering the brig Jon was in the same uniform as the escape walked to the cell where Maris was."i have a plan to get everthing back to where it needs to be and i think you can help." Maris looked into his eyes and looked determined.

"Tell the fighters... break off." Seth told the comms officer. The fighters had completed one pass of the Bartlet, and had lanced its starboard side with smallship phaser fire, looking for weakpoints, trying to get the shields disabled in order to beam marines and security details aboard. Seth had helped orchestrate the whole operation - along with Ensign Parker - with attention to meticulous detail, he'd gone rapidly poring over PADDs, keeping in contact with staff from around the ship and making sure his station was equipped to deal with anything that might arise.
"Yes, sir," the comms officer said and rotating around in his seat to contact the fighters. They started making their way back to the Nevada with their mission incomplete, Seth could see them hovering their way back on the viewscreen like flying insects. The reason for all this was that Trek, Park and Littlewood had just recently escaped from the ship by themselves. According to the transporter chief, they'd even brought someone with them.. she had helped with their breakout from the Bartlet's brig.
The Admiral departed the bridge, heading for sickbay where the three returned officers had been directed to. Seth was glad they were back. He had not quite got over the guilt of being the one that was rescued and having to leave the others behind.
Seth realised that he was again in command of the bridge. It was surprising, the frequency with which he found himself in command; although he couldn't help to think it was because he was as good as literally glued to his post the entire time. The Wezean decided not to break the trend, he controlled things from the Ops station behind and to the left of the three command chairs.
The only other senior staff members on the bridge were Counselor Vise and Ensign Parker. He took in their current positions; the new recruit Parker was studiously attending to the Helm at the front, Vise was sitting in the Counselor's customary position in one of the secondary command seats. Seth turned his attention to the viewscreen, to the small image of the Bartlet. It was just sitting out there, not reacting at all to the fact that they'd just lost their prisoners. Seth felt a compulsion to take charge and start distributing meaningful orders; not a good idea, he needed to wait for Drew.. but he did move to sit in the command chair.
He pondered the Bartlet once more, eventually leaning over to Vise and speaking loud enough for Ensign Parker to hear at the helm, "What do you make of this, Counselor? Why does the Bartlet sit out there like that?"
<tag Vise, Parker>
Seth nodded thoughtfully but a little despondently, inaction never pleased him when he did actually want to take charge, although he considered himself a lot wiser and slower to act than perhaps say, his brother. Several minutes passed by without the bridge hearing from the high-ranking officers of the ship down below; what was passing down there? It must have been significant.
Eventually, Seth could take it no longer, =/\=Admiral Drew, Commander Trek, this is the Bridge. Lieutenant Helacaan here sirs, the Bartlet is stationary off our forward bow... is there a reason for their inactivity?"

Jon stood outside the brig and spoke to Anna, knowing Stevenson could hear him again. "Ok Anna here is the plan. I will let you out but you have to hit me so it looks like you tried to escape. in Transporter room one is the Meds Stevenson wants. No transporter personal will be there the room was shut down for repair. Now take the drugs and transport to the Barlet i will be along in a bit after i use a trick."
Jon lowered the field and Anna kissed him before saying. "Sorry about this." Then struck him hard in the face knocking him out. Jon knew he would be found soon.
----One hour later------
Jon awoke in sickbay and knew he was going to have to start his part next. Moving to the door he slipped out and down the hall to a junction and slipped into a crawl space. Jon reached the Transporter room from the crawl space and tapped the controls and was gone from the Nevada.
As he transported to the Barlet he saw Anna standing there and so was Stevenson. "Mission done sir." Jon walked up to him and said "Thats the last time i do that understand?"

Seth was still sat in the command chair on the Nevada's bridge. He pondered the responses of Counselor Vise and the helm officer, Ensign Parker. "What would you propose we do, Counselor?" he said absent mindedly to Vise. In fact, he knew they couldn't do anything at all at the moment. Drew and Trek were still below deck, any decision Seth made could only be a lesser one, or one that was made with the approval of the Captain or First Officer (with preference to the former).
An empty PADD was being turned over again and again in Seth's hands. It was something for him to fiddle with, while he tried to figure out what to do.. although peering at the ceiling with a thoughtful expression was not going to get him anywhere.
"Lieutenant Helacaan," the crewman in Seth's place at Ops said, "Dematerialisation signature from Transporter Room One, someone is beaming over to the Bartlet." The reported delivered with such calmness was like hot needles suddenly jammed into Seth's brain.
"What?" he said, "Transporter room one, bridge. Report." The lack of a response was punctuated by a further report from the man at Operations:
"Mass reading and accompanying spectroscopy indicates one person as well as an additional mass, possibly cargo crates."
Seth had had enough. He slapped his hands on his knees and got out of the command chair, returning to the Ops console. On the spur of the moment he sent out a shipwide intercom message, no longer concerned with what they may be doing. This was an emergency. =/\=Admiral Drew and Commander Trek to the bridge immediately=/\= was all he said.
While waiting, Seth tried to figure out what was really going on. Who would be beaming off the ship now? There were a number of people who sprung to mind but to do so without the bridge having any sort of involvement would be highly irregular. Was it possible that those higher up on the ship than him would find it so easy to bypass him like this? Perhaps it was a possibility that should be considered, Seth thought. The bridge was meant to be the nerve-centre of a starship, it should never be cut off from the rest of the ship, disregarded and ignored as if it were not an important enough component to consider. There was more to this, surely.
By the time the Captain and his First Officer did arrive on the bridge, Seth had had to deal with another beam out from the Nevada. Again, from transporter room one. It frustrated the Wezean to be so out of control of things, even when it certainly would not have before. Hopefully with Drew and Trek back, those feelings of unease and unsurety would subside once more.
"Reading two extra humans on the USS Bartlet now." Seth said just as they came on to the bridge. The faces of both of them showed surprise. Seth took that in: Ok, so they don't know anymore than most of us do. Or did they? Trek for instance had been aboard the Bartlet, perhaps he knew something.
"Sirs," an officer from the rear of the bridge said, "Sickbay is reporting that Commander Park has gone missing.. and the brig is reporting the loss of the prisoner from the Bartlet." Park and Maris.. Seth thought, the extra human lifesigns.
"What is Commander Park doing?" Seth asked pointedly. It was clear to all that his inquisitive glare was fixed on the CO and FO.

Tristan stepped off of the transporter padd he was happy to be out of the cell, he had always had a problem with claustrophobia.
He quickly walked out of the transporter room before he was swamped with medical staff wanting to poke and prod him, they were to busy looking at Park to notice Tristan slip out of the fray.
He walked straight toward the turbolift and as soon as he was inside he let out a sigh, he still had a rather large amount of work to get done, deck four was still in shambles, and there was no doubt more things that people wanted done.
He wished more than anything that he could just sneak off to his quarters and go to sleep for a few days, but he was the Chief Engineer so no doubt within seconds someone would notice his absence.
A few minutes later he walked into Engineering happy at least to be back in his comfort zone, he wasn’t in there for four seconds before Lieutenant Mendez walked up to him and said.
“Chief… there is a stack of PADDs on your desk… the explosion on deck four has affected the replicators on deck seven… the sonic showers on deck three and the internal sensors are a bit off since.”
Tristan took a deep breath and held it for a few seconds before letting it out in a sigh. He only nodded his head and made his way to his office. Hoping no one on the bridge needed anything from him anytime soon, because he was up to his neck in work.

Jon walked around the Bartlet and kept looking over his shoulder. He was checking for something he didn't know what, Anna Maris was waiting for him at the quarters he had on here. He walked in and found things thrown around and Maris was on the ground bleeding. A dagger was in her belly. Jon ran to her. "Anna, Anna what happened?" Anna smiled and said one word. "Stevenson...." Jon checked her pulse and found it. Jon tapped his combadge for the Bartlet. "Park to sickbay. medical emergency in my quarters."
The voice the replied was one he kind of knew was going to respond. "I told you i would have the last orders. Sickbay out" Jon tapped his combadge for the Nevada." Park to Nevada, Emergency transport to sickbay." Park ripped his combadge off and put it on Maris and she was transported to the Nevada.
Jon went out of his quarters walked to a phaser rifle and headed to sickbay. Walking in he expected to find Stevenson instead he found the entire med staff dead and Stevenson gone. Jon walked to the nearest console and tapped commands into it. Stevenson had transported to the planet. Jon would deal with him soon enough.
Park walked to the Transporter room and beamed to the Nevada. Jon walked into Sickbay and saw the staff there working on her. Jon grabbed a medic and told him. "You fix her and i want to know what happens before anyone."
Jon walked to his quarters and changed into his Star fleet uniform. Jon walked to the nearest turbo lift and ordered "Bridge." Jon entered the bridge and saw Seth sitting in the command chair. "Status Report Lieutenant Helacaan." As Jon stepped up to his Security station. Jon was looking at the Bartlet. "Mrs. Parker set a course away from the Bartlet." Just as Jon was bring up the Shield he saw something on one of the screens. He wasn't sure what it was but he was going to make sure it didn't damage the ship.

Admiral Drew and Commander Trek had retired to the CO's ready room, clearly in the midst of discussing something very important that Seth did not understand.
He had blinked in confusion as the two had entered the bridge, speaking in heated but controlled tones as they'd headed straight for the room to the side of the bridge, near-ignoring Seth's question. So Seth had retaken the Command Chair, still completely in the dark and with no clue as to what was happening.
Now, one minute later, Seth heard a few loud and meaningful sounding beeps from the Ops Console. The sequence of them, and the urgency with which they occurred told Seth exactly what the sensors had detected. "Sir," the Ops crewman who'd retaken the station said, "I'm detecting multiple weapons fire on the Bartlet. It's.. it's going crazy over there, sir."
Seth made a decision, the first Starfleet command decision of his life. "Hail them," he said rising from the chair, true authority as well as the built-up frustration and latent anger permeating through his words.
Commander Thomas at tactical complied.. "No response," he said a few seconds later.
"Now I'm getting transporter signatures on the Bartlet," the Ops crewman reported, "I believe people are beaming down to the planet."
"Scan the surface, our detailed scans of the Magnans' communications and primary structures were not for nothing."
"I'm detecting emerging matter streams.. on the main continent, what seems to be the primary settlement and in a large structure. Perhaps the centre of government if the earlier scans are accurate, sir."
Seth looked at Counselor Vise and Ensign Parker. He wasn't sure what the significance of this was, but it had to mean something. Who just transported to the surface?
Ten minutes later...
"Sir, Commander Park just beamed into Transporter Room 2, from the Bartlet."
"Good," Seth said from the command chair, "Perhaps soon we can get some answers."
Park entered the bridge soon after, looking thoroughly beaten up. This was the first time Seth had seen him since he'd beamed alone off the Nevada separate from Tristan Littlewood, Dan Trek and the Security chief. Before the Wezean could ask, Park asked first, "Status Report Lieutenant Helacaan," he said as he strode to the Tactical Station.
"Yes sir. We detected weapon's fire on the Bartlet," Seth was climbing out of the chair, "Then transporter signatures which we traced to the surface. What was going on over there? Why did you beam back?"
<tag Park>
He took the Ops station back from Crewman Birrell just as Park ordered them away from the Bartlet. "I'm detecting something coming from the planet," Birrell reported from Mission Ops, "It's coming at great speed." Seth saw it on the main viewer now, he could see that Park saw it too. A bright, shiny object, shaped like a torpedo but much larger and hurtling towards them.
It started to slow, and then started pulsating with light. "Five kilometres off our forward bow, sirs," Birrell warned. "It's emitting some sort of dampener, it's disrupting some of our key systems, I think we're slowing..."
"Ensign Parker, confirm that," Seth said to the helm.
Seth looked at Park, who nodded back in confirmation that the Ops officer could contact engineering. =/\=Commander Littlewood, sir=/\= he called on his commbadge, =/\= What is wrong with the engines, we are losing speed. Commander Park wants us away from the Bartlet.=/\=
<tag Parker & Littlewood>
"Commander Park, sir. If it is Stevenson whose beamed to the planet and killed the medical staff on the Bartlet, what do you think he's planning next? Is he going to start murdering Magnans? We cannot let that happen." Seth's thoughts were tumbling to the fore, he desperately needed the full story, and being a Starfleet officer on the Nevada it was impossible to know that right at this moment.

"Former Lt.Commander Maris was attacked and the medical staff on the Bartlet was killed by Stevenson . I believe he is going to destroy the Barlet and become ruler of this world."
As things started to work on getting away from the Barlet. Jon saw the object and was thinking fast. "Commander Thomas take Tactical." Jon moved to the Command chair and sat. It was the first time he was in the Captain's chair and he liked the feeling. Jon said " Red Alert., Raise shields and arm weapons." Jon was waiting for all reports to come in.
"Commander Thomas aim for the city's transmitter tower. Fire when ready." Thomas pressed the commands and two phaser shots came out of the Nevada and went into the building. Jon was hearing from his trusted Second in command of Security informed him that the transmitter was destroyed. The object on the Main screen shut down.
Jon turned to the Captain's ready room, Knowing the command staff was in there but for now he was in command being the ranking officer on the bridge. "Commander Thomas take three teams to the Barlet and sweep it for any personal. Detain them and take the ship under your command. Make sure you change the command codes so Stevenson can't get back on the ship.
Thomas nodded and tapped his communicator as he entered the turbo lift. About ten minutes Thomas reported that all was calm and the crew was mostly dead. All the injured were transported to the Nevada and under guard. Jon turned to Seth. "Help Commander Thomas secure the Barlet and lock out the former crew."

Littlewood was able to return the engines to normal operating levels now that the 'probe' before them was disabled. Still, they had to act quickly. According to Park, Stevenson had indeed beamed back down to Magnus Prime, likely to the centre of his government. If as Park believed Stevenson wanted to rule this world for a long time, the Nevada had to move quickly to stop him in whatever he was doing.
Park was a step ahead of Seth, already he was organising a take-over of the Bartlet. It made sense; and even if it didn't give them an immediate tactical advantage it would at least result in the successful salvage of a Federation starship. But besides, 'locking' Stevenson out of the Bartlet would work to their advantage.
"Help Commander Thomas secure the Bartlet and lock out the former crew." Park ordered Seth.
"Sir," Seth gave an imprecise salute and headed from the bridge to the transporter room, deciding that the best way to execute those orders was to be on the Bartlet itself. The Wezean commed Lieutenant Hasak to join him.
"Hasak, let us go," Seth said to him, standing on the transporter pad and watching the junior Ops officer enter through the door. "Energise," he ordered the Petty Officer at the transporter controls. They materialised on the Bartlet. It was bright inside, the ship seemed in good working order. The former Starfleet crew had at least remembered how to respect their vessel, even if they had turned their backs on the Federation.
Seth moved through the ship to the bridge, where he used a command console to access the Bartlet's computer core. He entered the computer lock-out sub-routine and began working through it. There were a couple more Nevada crew on the bridge in addition to Seth and Hasak; presumbably they were security staff, just having removed the remaining Bartlet crew. It was only now that Seth noticed the burn-marks streaked across the wall, results of the discharge of a phaser.
What had gone on here? It was as if Stevenson - and perhaps some of closest associates if this many were dead - had gone a rampage, wiping out some of his own crew for some insane reason.
Soon after he'd gained access, Seth began struggling with the computer core decryption. Seth knew that the computer core's technology was similar to the one on the Nevada, with very few differences in level of tech advancement, so he decided to call in the person who he knew would know more about the operating systems of a Starship than anyone else.
=/\=Engineering, USS Nevada, this is Lieutenant Helacaan. Commander Littlewood, I am on the Bartlet, I could use your help with decrypting the computer core on the Bartlet so we can lockout their crew's authorisation codes, more specifically Ben Stevenson's. Could you assist me, sir?=/\=
<tag Littlewood>
One of the consoles started beeping soon after Littlewood arrived to help Seth; Hasak noticed the console and realised it was a science station. He approached it.. "Uhh, Lieutenant Helacaan, the Bartlet's sensors are detecting weapons' fire on the surface, inside the main city."
"Hmm?" Seth murmured at first. He looked up, "The surface?"
"Yes, sir. The Bartlet seems to already have its sensors trained on the city. Now it's detecting weapons' fire..."
Seth looked at Littlewood. Now what was going on? "We have no one down there." Seth stated. Hasak agreed. "Why are they fighting themselves?" Said the Ops officer stonily, again perturbed and irritated at his lack of control, a situation he would not have been too worried about if the situation was not as it was.
"Could it be an uprising?" Hasak queried.
Seth shook his head, "The Magnans do not have weaponry we would be able to detect from orbit," he said tiredly. =/\=Commander Park, this is Helacaan, we are detecting weapons' fire from the planet. Can you confirm, sir?"

=/\=Commander Park, this is Helacaan, we are detecting weapons' fire from the planet. Can you confirm, sir?"
Jon looked at the Replacement Tactical officer at the moment Park couldn't remember his name. "Can you confirmed that Ensign." The young officer tapped his console and after a few seconds he reported back to Jon. "Yes sir confirmed, however i am reading federation weapon's signatures."
Jon looked at the Ensign and nodded. Knowing what he had to do next but he did not want to have to order a superior officer's death, But it looked like he was running out of options.
=/\= Nevada to Lieutenant Helacaan. I can confirm there is weapons fire on the planet, However the weapons have a federation signature." Jon was thinking what he was going to do. "Can you command the Barlet with a skeleton crew?
<Tag Helacaan>
Jon tapped his combadge =/\= Park to Security team Beta and Gamma. Gear up for a assault on the planet." Jon knew he couldn't leave the Nevada as the ranking officer so he sent a crew to the Barlet and hoped the teams would get the answers he wants.

Sitting in his office Tristan poured through the reports that had piled on his desk during his brief detention in the brig, most of it was unimportant updates that had been left for checking. Tristan had only sorted through about a third of them before he heard the comm. Channel open and Seth say.
=/\=Commander Littlewood, sir=/\= he called on his commbadge, =/\= What is wrong with the engines, we are losing speed. Commander Park wants us away from the Bartlet.=/\=
Tristan stood up and walked out of his office and into the main engineering section, he looked to the warp core and noticed it seemed to be underpowered, he looked around the room with a frown and said.
“Can anybody tell me why the warp core is not at full power.”
A young ensign turned from his console with a nervous look and said.
“Sir I noticed a small irregularity in the power flow I began a level two diagnostic.”
Tristan shook his head in frustration. “Not the best time for that Ensign… get the power back up.. now.”
Two minutes later the power was restored to the warp core and the Nevada could again move as normal, Tristan tapped his comm.. badge and said.
“Bridge… engines are at full capacity.”
He returned to his office to get back to his paperwork.
He again only had time to sort through a small amount of his work when again Seth’s voice came over the comm. Channel
Tristan was now convinced Seth had a spy in Engineering informing him when the most inconvenient time to ask something of him was.
He sighed and tapped his comm. Badge and said.
“Yeah on my way Seth.”
Minutes later he was transported to the bridge of the Bartlet, Tristan didn’t have chance to do anything before a console started to sound an alarm, Seth didn’t take long to determine it was weapons fire on the surface of the planet.
=/\= Nevada to Lieutenant Helacaan. I can confirm there is weapons fire on the planet, However the weapons have a federation signature." Jon was thinking what he was going to do. "Can you command the Barlet with a skeleton crew?
Came the reply from Nevada, Tristan moved to the consol and opened the channel and said.
“COMMANDER Littlewood here.. yes there is enough people here to run the ship… give us some time to unlock the systems and break the command codes… Littlewood out.’
Tristan was tired of being ignored sure he was the chief when engineering made a mistake… but he was still a Commander and as such the most senior officer on the Bartlet, he wasn’t going to let himself to be walked all over because of a mistake made by one of his officers.
Tristan turned to Seth and said. “Seth concentrate on getting the systems up and running make sure we have control of vital systems… I will lock out the Bartet crews Command codes.” He turned to three young men who were listning to the conversations and said.
“You three continue sweeping the ship… anybody not from our crew.. lock them up and interrogate them… move out.”
He turned to Seth one last time and said. “I am getting sick of this Stevenson fellow.”

Jon heard Commander Littlewood's voice come from the channel saying “COMMANDER Littlewood here.. yes there is enough people here to run the ship… give us some time to unlock the systems and break the command codes… Littlewood out." Jon was kinda taken aback by that little outburst from the Chief engineer of the Nevada, However did understand why since he was a Commander. Jon decided he would try and fix that little glitch later.
Jon looked at the Ensign at the tactical station." Ensign scan the planet and inform the transporter room if there is a go for there mission." The young ensign scanned the planet and reported they were ready. "=/\= Park to transporter room one and three energize." Jon knew the teams were transported to the planet at the same time.
=/\= Nevada to Bartlet, Commander Littlewood when the Bartlet is secure move her to our flank and go to red alert. We may have to give the security team some assistance from space, What are the Barlets weapon status?"

< Imperial Palace, Magnus Prime >
Regent Lax stood poised outside the Imperial Hall with ten native Magnans. As she looked at them one last time, they looked at a bit awkward holding the phaser rifles in their hands. But this was, after all, the first time any of them had ever used one. They weren't exactly the most experienced bunch when it came to tactical operations, but Lax couldn't really use any trained personnel, since that would have risked tipping off the Imperial Guard, and General Mustev, of what they were about to do.
"Remember," she said to her team. "Don't fire until I say so."
With that, she and her team marched into the Imperial Hall, Lax leading the way. She was amused at the rather stunned look on the Chamberlain's face, as she clearly interrupted business between him and Stevenson. The Imperial Regent striding into the Imperial Hall with ten armed men would do that.
"Regent Lax?" Emperor Stevenson asked, leaving off the rest of the question: What's going on?
"Your Excellency," she said, using the honorific, but her voice was rather devoid of any amusement or respect that most of the Bartlet crew had when using the title. "You know, I've been thinking about your decisions regarding the Bartlet. I had my doubts about being the Drive section down to the planet, but relaxed on that when it was landed safely. I brushed off my concerns over utilizing its power matrix, because it would benefit us here. But now, you've given orders to dismantle sections of the hull to use among fortifications here?! I began to realize; you really do mean to stay here, permanently."
While Lax made her speech, Mustev moved his men in, slowly and carefully filling the room with Guardsmen, methodically surrounding the intruding team in a way that would hopefully escape their notice. But out of the corner of her eye, Lax could see her team getting nervous at the posturing on the parts of the Imperial Guard, making their phaser rifles very visible. Unfortunately, one of the Guards made a bit too much of a show, and one of Lax's team reacted.
The nervous team member fired, missing the Guard in his frightened state, but was quickly gunned down. In the resulting firefight, Lax lost three of her team before her yells "HOLD FIRE!" got through to them. They had only taken out one Guard for all their trouble.
Surrounded by a diminished team, she continued nonetheless. "I think it's time the other definition of 'Regent' be used around here. As in a ruler or governor? You're finished here, Stevenson."
Stevenson just rose from his chair and smiled. "What will you do, take me by force? I think not. This is far from over." With that, Stevenson tapped a key on a hidden device on his arm, and disappeared in a transporter beam.

The engineer, clearly under stress, shut the channel abruptly. Seth awaited orders from the Commander now that he'd finished his near tirade against Park who was over on the Nevada.
"Seth concentrate on getting the systems up and running make sure we have control of vital systems... I will lock out the Bartet crews Command codes."
Seth nodded, "Sir." He went immediately to the Ops console which was in the unfamiliar - to him - position at the front of the bridge, next to the helm. He could as he approached it that there was something drastically wrong. He got there and sighed. There was an awful black burn-mark of a phaser shot streaked right across the console. The display was faulty and the blackness that was the result of the discharge had leaked across it, as if it was some black ink that had been injected subcutaneously into the crystal display.
The Wezean cursed his luck as he sat in the seat to work his console. The person who had fired the phaser obviously didn't care whether they hit a living being or ship system. Seth looked across to the helm and also back at the rear stations; they were all in good working order, apparently other places around the ship were as well. He sighed and started working the Ops console, seeing that the functions still worked but knowing that it would still be much more difficult; he distributed a message to those around the ship to make sure vital systems were operating, and ordered Hasak below-deck to check on some of the secondary departments.
Hasak made his way below deck to the primary sensor array. It was a shame that the sensor and weapons pod of the Nebula class was on the Stardrive section, they could have done with that, but Hasak consoled himself, thinking that they'd make do with what they had. There was one other person in the small-ish room, the Benzite recognised him as being an Ops crewman. "Crewman, Helacaan wants all vital systems checked; are the sensors operating at full capacity?"
"Yes, sir," said the crewman, turning the perplexed look he was wearing from a display over to Hasak, "And I have to tell you that they are detecting more fire from the surface.. as well as another matter transportation stream."
Hasak's expression instantly shifted from indifferent to troubled. More activity on the surface.. certainly more activity involving Starfleet technology than Hasak expected there had been the past few months. "It is good then that Commander Park has marines and security details on the surface now," he said.
On the bridge, Seth had moved to tactical, finding it much easier to use and he could get standardised damage and status reports from over the ship. There was one more thing he had to do, =/\=Helacaan to Park, the Bartlet's weapons are at the best we can get them. It seems Stevenson and his crew have cannibalised the ship for parts, we can't get them up to full.=/\=
"Commander Littlewood," Seth said to the engineer who was still at the back of the bridge but very much in charge of the ship. He seemed well cut for command, generating a strong presence even at the back of the bridge where such a position would be inconspicuous. Certainly he'd make a far better command officer than Seth would.. Seth saw himself as being the least cut out for command of all the Nevada's senior staff.
"Commander, it's taken a while because of the total lack of crew aboard but I've got responses from all major departments. They all report systems are now at operating standard, which is surprising.. or as best as we can get them."
Seth awaited instructions, but he knew that now was the time to move to the Nevada's flank as per Park's orders. Hasak came back, reporting the sensors had detected more fire and transport beaming on Magnus Prime, Seth nodded and waved the Lieutenant to Ops. Whatever was happening on the planet below, the Nevada and now the Bartlet were taking care of things.
Littlewood moved around to the command arena of the Nebula class's bridge. At tactical, Seth opened a comm channel to certain crew of the Nevada aboard the Bartlet and summoned them to the bridge to fill the empty consoles.

Jon opened a comm channel from the Nevada. "Understood Mr.Helacaan. We have been reading weapons fire up here.I have teams on the way there. we have also detected a transport. We were unable to trace it. Do you have the Barlet secure yet?"
<Tag Helacaan>
Jon signaled to the marine officer on the bridge, He nodded and tapped his combadge as he headed to the turbolift. Park wanted to be in the action but as the Senior officer he knew his place was on the bridge. He glanced at the ready room door. ~what could be keeping the Captain and Commander there during this crisis.~ He knew he should at least in form them of what is going on.
Jon stood up and moved to a abandoned console, using his security command codes he sent a short message to the Captain and commander via the captains computer terminal. Jon apologized for interrupting and gave them a update. As Jon sat back in the command chair he was shocked that his message was not answered.

"Commander, it's taken a while because of the total lack of crew aboard but I've got responses from all major departments. They all report systems are now at operating standard, which is surprising.. or as best as we can get them."
Tristan turned from the console and looked to Seth, admiring his ability to keep calm under pressure.
“Good work Seth.” He said as he moved to the command section of the bridge.
“Helm bring us around to flank the Nevada… Tactical bring weapons online and keep a sensor lock on the weapons fire down there… co-ordinate with the Nevada Tactical.”
He tapped his comm. Badge
=/\= Littlewood to Nevada the Bartlet is secure and weapons now online at forty percent… We will await further instructions.=/\=
Tristan looked at the side panel on the command chair, his eyes looked to the small readout showing the weapons fire on the planets surface.
“What is going on down there?” he said to himself.
He looked to the door as the a few replacements from the Nevada arrived to fill up some of the empty positions on the Bartlet bridge.
OOC: Sorry for the short post didn’t have much to work with… I suggest we try to bring this mission to an end sooner rather than later… that way we can deal with the leaving of both Command officers and start a new mission fresh.
