OLD BUSINESS
1. Klingon Simming (Lin)
The process of introducing Klingon simming was continued with further discussion regarding site readiness and members who expressed interest. It was reported that the initial ground work was completed, including Klingon ranks, and the discussion then shifted to potential command staff and crew. While several members had shown interest in Klingon simming, some concern was brought up as to how few had done so, but it was recalled that Romulan simming received similarly few shows of interest, and yet was well crewed rather quickly. The possible candidates for command were briefly discussed before it was decided to table the matter pending further discussion.
No Motion was held.
Since this item was a continued brainstorming and discussion issue, no vote was held.
NEW BUSINESS
2. Confidential Matter (Drew)
Marked as confidential for the public minutes.
3. Member Intake (Lin)
The next item was concerning the join rate standstill. With presently no new members joining and the continued loss of current members at a fairly normal rate, the matter of attracting new members was quickly becoming of great importance. It was reported that the join forms were working as far as could be determined and that the voting positions were fairly high. It was eventually decided that perhaps this was just a lull and that more effort should be placed on preparing for the potential influx of new members as a result of the latest movie. Suggestions for this included updating the images on the site to reflect the movie's style and being prepared to create another TOS era ship. A general consensus was reached to begin researching the style of the movie and then starting the process of incorporating that style into the site. With a general plan in place, it was decided to table the matter until further research on the new movie designs had occurred and there were more specific and prepared changes ready to present for a vote.
No Motion was held.
As this was also a brainstorming and discussion item, no vote was held.
4. Suggestion for Reorganization of Crew Manifests (Torek)
It was suggested that perhaps removing often vacated positions from ship rosters might be a good idea to prevent ships from looking half empty. However, with the new system on SMS, the rosters no longer show the vacant positions, so the issue was quickly determined to be solved already. No vote or further discussion was needed, so the item was closed.
No Motion was held.
With the matter resolved, no vote was held.
5. Selection of New Inspector General (Reynolds)
With the need to conduct inspections on a more regular basis, the need for an Inspector General was discussed and several candidates presented and their pros and cons discussed. Then the recommendations of the CSS were passed onto Captain Reynolds to make his decision. Captain Reynolds then decided to name Commander Daniel Biers as the new Inspector General, with the agreement of CSS.
No Motion was held.
As this decision was at the discretion of the Commendations Officer, no vote was held.
