Stacey Jackson had fallen asleep reading yet more about Starship operations, although this time she had the sense to read them while lying in bed as to not risk falling out of a chair again. She was so deep in sleep she didn’t notice her console beep when a message in text arrived for her to read.
Nothing happened during the night to warrant the ship to need her so her sleep went uninterrupted, until the computer beeped loudly for her wake up call.
She opened her slowly as she said in a raspy morning voice. ‘Lights.” The computer powered the lights to full and Stacey squinted as her eyes adjusted to the bright light. She flicked off the quilt and stepped onto the floor. She ran her hands through her hair and sighed. Finally standing up she first moved to the replicator and asked for White coffee mildly sweetened, picking up the newly replicated mug of coffee she sipped it as she walked over to her desk.
She fell into her high back chair and tapped the small computer console activating it, she then noticed the message awaiting her viewing, the text quickly filled the screen and she read the message from Captain Savot.
After she read it she yet again sighed before taking another mouthful of her coffee, placing the cup on the desk she lifted herself up and went for a shower.
After the shower and dressing in a clean uniform, she picked up her hairbrush and went back to the desk, sitting down as she brushed her hair she began to think over an idea for a relaxation event for the entire crew.
First among her thoughts was a party and it was as good as any idea, and the holodeck could create a pleasing environment for the party to take place, and if it was held at about thirteen hundred hours food could be used to break the ice. Now she turned her thoughts to the children of the ship, it didn’t take her long to formulate a plan that would keep them entertained and pleased while the adults did their boring small talk and grown up things.
She tapped her comm. Badge and said. “Jackson to Engineering.. I would like you to remove all the tables and chairs in the mess hall, and store them in cargo bay one.. I would also like someone to use the industrial replicator to make large pillows and bean bags please.. and I need it done before eleven hundred hours.”
The response was quick. “Yes Ma’am we will get right on it.”
She stood up and finished off her coffee before stepping out of her quarters, walking to the nearest turbolift she stepped inside and said. “Deck One.” The trip was extra short given her quarters were on deck two, she stepped out onto the bridge and unsurprisingly found Savot already there. She walked up to him and said. “Good morning captain.. I received your message,, I will set something up for the holodeck for the adults and in the mess hall for the children.. a big lunch and party for the adults and a old style movie for the children with all their favourite foods, candy and uhmm candy.. we will hide something nutritional in between the candy… does this sound alright to you sir?”

Savot nodded as Lieutenant Fire got up to leave the Ready Room. The captain felt satisfied that they'd reached an understanding and Savot didn't think it necessary to enter a formal reprimand at this juncture, merely advising Fire that regardless of our emotional state, physical reactions to fellow crewmembers were unacceptable, and Savot felt it highly probable that under normal circumstances Mr. Fire was not a man prone to violent response so it was only the recent deaths among his team that left him on edge.
The Vulcan Captain also felt he'd reached an understanding with Colonel K'ratak as well, though he did feel a moment's regret at the loss of Colonel Wolf during his absence. Though they'd butted heads on a number of occasions Savot felt he and the Marine were beginning to better understand one another, though that would hopefully come in time with their new Klingon Marine as well. But overall Savot was pleased for Wolf's sake, a command opportunity was not something that came along everyday, and Savot hoped he'd find the experience a fulfilling one.
Before heading off-duty for the night Savot arranged for recovery parties to make sure all Federation debris from the shuttle crashes was recovered; the bodies of their lost crewmembers had been retrieved along with Fire and the survivors. He did regret the unnecessary strain the Merans would be forced to trudge through in the meantime, but he believed they would overcome it and in the interim the best thing the Federation and more specifically the U.S.S. El Salvador could do was give them their proverbial space and let them work without external influence for a change.
So Savot arranged for everything to be ready to go by Alpha Shift the next morning when they'd deliver the body of the poison victim back to the service for what would hopefully be a hero's burial considering the crucial nature of the information he'd 'given' and then he himself retired, greeting his fish as he prepared for bed. Waiting for him now that his immediate duties had been tended to, was the message from Commander Delbridge at Jupiter Station. As he played the message, his eyebrow arched and he shook his head slightly in continued bafflement as to his friend's mental state.
Before turning in he put a hail through to the station, and it wasn't long before Mr. Delbridge had responded, a grin already plastered on his face expecting victory, =^=Greetings Mr. Delbridge, am I disturbing you?=^=
The human grinned, putting his hands behind his head and propping his feet on the desk, =^=Not at all good buddy; did you get my message?=^=
=^=Indeed, and while it was most considerate of you to ensure I had my family's pictures with me I assure you I did copy them to my roaming database before transferring from the station.=^=
Delbridge sat up straight and narrowed his eyes, =^=That's it? You're telling me my little slideshow didn't get on your nerves at all? Well... what if I asked your sister out; would that bother you?=^=
Savot looked quite plainly at the screen as he replied, =^=Not at all. Why would it?=^=
Chester Delbridge felt as though he were coming ever closer to an invisible trap, and replied with a wary expression, =^=You really wouldn't mind me dating your sister?=^=
The Vulcan blinked though maintained deadpan countenance as he responded, =^=That is a separate question. You first inquired if I'd mind you asking her; I would not mind that because I am confident that Saevalis' standards would preclude the possibility of your success.=^=
Delbridge started to look irked... then froze... before bursting out laughing, =^=Ouch! That was vicious Captain Buzzkill; my self-confidence may never recover.=^=
=^=I would never speak in such a way as to cause a reduction in your self-image. Though I posit that even were I to do so your self-esteem's recuperative capabilities would prove more than sufficient to return you to your normal state=^=, Savot said and only his Vulcan genetics allowed him to maintain a straight face. He'd gotten even more serious than usual upon his appointment as captain, but he still enjoyed the ongoing verbal joust with his friend Chester Delbridge.
Chester chuckled and made the vulcan hand salute before waving goodbye with the same hand, to which Savot gave the eyebrow-equivalent of rolling one's eyes and said goodbye as well then went to sleep.
******************************************
The next morning he 'clocked in' at 0630 on the bridge, confirmed the retrieval of all debris and the return of the poison victim's body to the surface, then instructed the helm to break orbit and lay in a course for the El Salvador's usual patrol grid. The transit time would allow for the party he'd ask Jackson to organize, and as though summoned by the thought she arrived on the bridge soon afterward and informed him as to her plans.
His brow elevated as though intrigued by the notion of subtly infiltrating a candy source with sustenance of nutritional value, then nodded his agreement, "That seems quite satisfactory Commander thank you; you may proceed at your discretion. There is another matter I'd like to have your views on if you have a moment." He gestured towards the Ready Room and the duo entered.
Savot offered Jackson a seat but remained standing himself with his hands behind him, "The situation with Counselor Chenzira has given me pause. The altercation between himself and Mr. Fire was apparently due in part to the nature of Chenzira's questioning which apparently Lieutenant Fire found to be provocative. Now a single incident is clearly insufficient to make any overarching decisions upon, but I'm concerned that if Commander Chenzira's technique is normally abrasive that returning him to duty may simply enable him to lower crew morale; but I also do not wish to simply abandon him to be 'someone else's problem' as it were."
"Since your background in Counseling is extensive I wanted to ask your advice on how to address the situation. If he truly desires to be a therapy-based counselor rather than merely a researcher what is the appropriate way to evaluate his ability to do so? Perhaps if we order a study of 3 junior counselors in which they all participate in various sessions so we can judge the effects of their differing techniques it would allow us access to other counselors' evaluations of Chenzira's capacity to serve as a counselor without seeming to single him out directly. These are merely my preliminary thoughts I am quite content to defer to your experience", Savot queried.

Lieutenant James Fire woke up the lights above him were dimmed as he squinted looking around his quarters a smile crossing his features when he realized why his lights were dimmed in front of him was a certain bajoran woman. Her back was to him as he watched through his half closed eyes trying to get used to the lights. "I take it your on alpha shift?" He said hoarsely as he rubbed his left eye continuing to look in her general direction with the other one.
Belanna had tried to be quiet so not to wake James who was sleeping next to her. She remembered falling asleep in his arms last night although she couldn't exactly recall the entire night. She heard his voice her skin turning a slight shade of red. "Yes, and I am sorry for waking you." She said in a half whisper it was extremely early in the morning and she feared that she was running late. Though she really didn't have to be at the helm for another hour or so.
James sat up the rest of the way his closet now filled with the yellow uniforms of an engineering officer. He swung his legs around he couldn't return to duty until the situation with that Commander was complete although he was uncertain what would happen he figured it was for the best. "You did not wake me Belanna I woke up myself I'm used to being awake at this time remember?"
Belanna nodded as she tied her hair back after having dressed into her uniform, "Yes I remember. I'll be back at the end of my shift." She leaned over and kissed him softly then she would walk out of the room and down the passage way towards the turbo lift and the bridge to take up the helm.
James returned the kiss as he stood up and went over to the sonic shower stepping into the heated water for a quick shower before he would throw on his own uniform just to wander his way down to the officer mess deck in order to enjoy an early breakfast. After his shower and his uniform was straightened and his rank insignia placed on his collar he would make his way down to the mess.
Once at the mess he would sit down with a PADD in hand as the waiter came to his table, "Scrambled eggs and bacon please." He would say and watch them walk away from him then his gaze would be on the PADD once more reading through the engineering crew roster on one of them. On the other PADD in front of him listed minor repairs that needed to be completed through out the ship. He wasn't really working in his mind he was studying. Shortly thereafter the waiter came back with his plate of food and he would begin to eat slowly as he read.

He was sitting in his quarters unpacking his things he hadn't had a chance to settle in. This was going to be his home for awhile and he needed to make it feel like a home for himself. He still felt a little strange around the crew they were use to dealing with Col wolf. It would take awhile for them to get use to him.
He would have to work hard making sure he fitted in, and get to know the crew. His saving grace was he at least knew Commander Hope and respected her and like her. He had long since given up his people feelings towards Romulans and judge everybody individualy and not as a whole.
He was hanging up painting of Dogs playing poker, it was one of his favorites. It made him laugh because it was comical to him. He had learned to develope a sense of humor and worked hard to find things to laugh about. While he may be a warrior at heart no one ever said you couldn't laugh.

Scene: Holo-Deck USS El_Salvador-B
Andrus had created a Constituion Class starship. He was pretendign to be a Starship captain. He doubted that realistically he'd ever reach that rank. He liked being a CTSO and Department Head. So far his actions had not killed or injured anyone.
He thought of thei Academy classmates and wondered what they had been up to. One of his closest friends was a Ferengi named Pez.
The little man with hyper sharp teeth and a wicked grin, had gotten Andrus and himself into a lot of scrapes. He had heard he had served ona Defiant Class ship as OPS manager.

Lieutenant James Fire continued to sit and pick at his breakfast with his fork while idly reading through the roster and the minor repairs that were needed throughout the ship. As he sat there he heard the chair across from him being pulled out and out of the corner of his eyes he seen somebody in red sit down across from him. "Hello Ensign Marcus." He said between chewing and reading and without looking up he didn't need to look up without knowing who it was in front of him.
Ensign Marcus had finally got out of the medical ward he had been intending to see his superior but he didn't expect to see him wearing a yellow uniform. Although, he had heard some rumors on his way to the mess. "I see the rumors are true sir. You are in the engineering department now. Thank you sir, for um... saving my life."
James looked up towards his friend, "Yes I have transferred." He said half expecting to hear the ensign ask him why he had transferred, but found himself rather surprised to hear him say those words instead. "It is was my job to make sure that you survived to see another day Ensign. And, it was not a problem either."
Marcus nodded, "Well I hope you enjoy being down in engineering sir. And, sir...We don't blame you for what happened on the surface you tried your best we are, after all, only human." He said continuing the conversation with the Lieutenant.
James smiled a little bit, "Thanks for that Ensign." He would reply as he once more began scanning the information in front of him. He heard the ensign say good bye and he would repeat the words slowly and look down once more after watching him walk away. He wanted to get to work, but he had to continue to await Captain Savot's final decision in the matter with the counselor.

Andrus was off duty and headed to teh Officer's mess. He wasn;t really hungry but needed the company of others more.
He enterd and his order was taken - it wasn;t full but he had elected to sit by a large window and look out a tthe vastness of the spae around their vessel.
He was lost in thought when his food arrived. He smelled the food and beacme aware he was in fact hungry. Since his arrival, he had not had a chance to get to know the others on the crew well.
He wonderd if the crew ever held a party to wind down after a mission. He hmade a note to suggest it to Cmdr Jacskon. ------------------------------------------------------- Lt (jg) Andrus CTSO USS El-Salvador B

"That seems quite satisfactory Commander thank you; you may proceed at your discretion. There is another matter I'd like to have your views on if you have a moment." He gestured towards the Ready Room and the duo entered.
She was offered a seat and Stacey never being one to stand longer than needed took it and looked up, as Savot remained standing.
She listned with some interest and annoyance as Captain Savot detailed his concerns over Counsellor Chenzira… Stacey had already had a boatload of trouble from that individual, and personally questioned the logic of having him on a starship never mind as a Counsellor.. Needless to say were she the instructor of his counselling training he would never have made it through.
Stacey thought for a few moments, she had dealt with many students who probably were not best suited for Counselling in her time.. she took a deep breath before she herself stood up.
“well at the moment we are without a senior Counsellor… and I have myself seen the behaviour of Counsellor Chenzira when he is speaking to people.. needless to say it leaves a lot to be desired especially if your dealing with someone in an emotional state… I would suggest getting all three of the junior counsellors together and take them through a refresher course… I of course am qualified to do this as an instructor of more than ten years… If he or any of the others don’t meet the standards of care a counsellor should provide… then time back at the academy or a re-evaluation of career choices is in order sir.”
She took another breath and said. “I will have a talk with Mr. Fire and see in what way questions were asked and if they were relevant.. this is of course if he wishes to share with me the information in question.. if he does I will draw up a lesson plan and take it from there.. some sessions with holographic patients and that sort of thing.. but for now I think it best to leave that until after the relaxation time.. the crew needs to let their hair down.”
<Savot if response desired>
*** Five hours Later***
The holodeck was ready.. the program a park setting with tall trees and many species of flowers… a beautiful sky with a sun that provided warmth and no potential of sunburn… Several long tables were set out containing foods form many cultures as well as drinks all set out in a buffet form. It wasn’t going to be a loud rambunctious party more a relaxed gathering where people could chat in a non work atmosphere and enjoy exotic food and drink.
Tapping her comm. Badge she said. “All hands this is Commander Jackson… initiate skeleton crew protocols and get yourselves down to holodeck one.. where you leave rank at the door and bring a smile… that’s an order.”
<tag All… No work talk let your characters hair down and go wild.. within reason ;D )

S'reena had been in her quarters when the call came through from Jackson. Michael smiled at her, while scooping up a squealing Kyala, holding her aloft above his head. The three-year old giggled, while her brothers tugged at their father's leg to get the same treatment. Off to the side, Yarna was almost crying and S'reena walked over to her as Auric alerted her to the child's quiet sniffing. "What's wrong Yarna?" she asked, kneeling beside her daughter. It was just as well that Kahlan wasn't home, or there'd be even more crying as Kahlan never liked it when her younger sister was crying, and usually her attempts to help just made things worse.
Sighing, the Romulan realised that perhaps Kahlan could benefit from a counselor's guidance, and perhaps teachings. The girl loved to help but often her attempts went awry or were misinterpreted. "Yarna, why are you crying?" she repeated gently.
The little girl wrapped her arms around her mother's neck. "You're going out," she sniffed, "and leaving us here. You're never home mommy, why're you never home?"
S'reena knew her daughter was sensitive, but never realised how much empathic skill she had. She also knew that a while ago, while she was in danger on an away mission, she'd thrown a fit in the captain's readyroom, in the captain's presence, at that. "Mommy has to work sweatheart," she replied. "But I'm here now, until that party." She looked up at Michael. "Is something arranged for the children? I really don't want to leave them at home." She held the young child to her as she regarded her husband. "She's so upset..."
Michael nodded. "I think something was arranged for all the children aboard. Why don't you hand her to me, while you go see what was arranged? Also, I think counselor Chenzira has been looking for you." The Human doctor rolled his eyes. 'I think he's a bit of a dolt...and from what I heard he isn't even supposed to be seeing people. However Firestorm seems to appreciate his presence in sickbay. He's probably the only one who does, that silly cat."
S'reena smiled wanly and Michael was reminded of how much she hated spending time with a counselor, with the exception of two. "I'll go see him now, but I'll take Yarna. I don't think I should leave her in this state..." She rose to her feet, lifting the girl up with her. "Oof you're getting to heavy to lift around little one," she smiled, setting her back down. "Come give me your hand, don't cry now. You can take mommy for a walk around the ship, how's that?"
Yarna smiled through her tears and all but dragged her mother from their quarters. Above their heads, Auric chittered happily for her bondmate seemed happy to go out too. S'reena too, smiled as she allowed her daughter to pull her along. "We'll have to go to sickbay," she told the girl, "why don't you lead me there? Counselor Chenzira was looking for me, we shouldn't keep him waiting."
~
The two Romulans (though technically, one is only half) walked into sickbay. Firestorm turned to greet them, his tail coiled as he noticed who entered. From experience, the Sivaoan recalled that S'reena hardly ever came down to sickbay on her own volition. "What can I do for you ladies?" he asked, as he ruffled Yarna's dark hair while coiling his tail around S'reena's wrist in greeting and affection.
"I'm told Counselor Chenzira was looking for me?" S'reena queried softly, "I have something to discuss with him anyway."
Firestorm purred. "Taita!" he called over his shoulder, "Yo Taita, someone here to see you!"
The Egyptian counselor came walking at a leisurely pace, arching an eyebrow as he saw who had come. Distrust was plainly visible on his face, though only Firestorm picked up on that. Auric hissed at him from her perch on Firestorm's head, but made no move to attack him. "Ah yes," he spoke up, "please follow me ma'am." He looked down on the child. "The child should perhaps remain here with Mr Firestorm."
"The child goes with me," S'reena replied coldly, not missing the odd tone in his voice, "and the child, as you call her, has a name. Kindly address her as such."
Taita cast her a frosty look, but shrugged. "As you wish commander. Please follow me. Firestorm I'll be in the CMO's office if you have need of me. This won't take long."
S'reena followed him without a word, though her expression spoke volumes and if she still had vision, her eyes would've sparkled angrily. As such, they only narrowed slightly, while her mouth was pressed into a thin line. Firestorm knew that expression all too well, and promised himself to keep an eye on the two officers. "You wished to see me?" she asked icily, "otherwise there's something I have to discuss with you." She nudged Yarna over to the couch she knew to be there and told her to wait quietly, while the adults spoke.
"Just the general psychological examination," Taita replied in kind, "I know you've been under duress recently, and are coping with feelings of guilt. I've heard the rumours, they say that your actions endangered the captain and the crew."
"They say a lot," S'reena answered, "and I've already discussed this with the capain. No blame befalls me, and I am put at ease by his reassurance. There has been no more duress than usual, though I thank you for your thoughtfulness of trying to put me at ease."
Taita frowned, smiling thinly. "I wasn't accusing you," he added slowly, "nor asking you to discuss this with me. I'm simply offering the opportunity, it is what I am here for, after all." He was trying very hard to be civil to the Romulan, though he could see the child was responding to the tense air in the room. "Your daughter, is she all right?" he queried, sounding more concerned than before. A child, after all, couldn't be blamed for the parents it had. A child was always an innocent, no matter the species.
"She's fine," S'reena replied, "it is of my other daughter I wish to speak. I want you to teach her to help people. She tries very hard, especially with Yarna, who is very sensitive to people's feelings, especially mine. Yet she's often misunderstood or her attempts to help go wrong. I think Kahlan has the makings of a good counselor, and I want you to guide her."
"I'm not guiding a child, especially.." He fell silent, swallowing his insult just in time. However, it was already too late; he damage was done.
"You will guide her," S'reena snapped, rising to her feet, "and you'll keep your insults to yourself too. Kahlan needs professional guidance in this, and with the First Officer too busy, that task befalls to the only other capable counselor aboard. Look at it this way, there's talk going on about you on this ship. This is your chance to prove them wrong."
Taita too, rose to his feet, face darkening with rage. He slammed his hands down on the desk, thereby startling the girl. "I don't care what people say," he snarled, "I won't teach a Romulan."
That was too much, and S'reena launched herself at him, but collided with something furry instead. Her hands were restrained against her body as she was held firm. "Taita, out," Firestorm snapped, "take the child with you and calm her. Don't argue with me man, you're not even supposed to be here!" The counselor went out, white-faced and dragging a crying girl with him.
"S'reena look at me!" Firestorm locked her hands together in one of his, then used his other paw to force her to face him. "You need to control your temper. He's trying, he really is trying. He has no experience S'reena, none. He's a scholar, he needs to settle into this job, give him a chance."
"He's a racist," S'reena snapped back, though making no effort to break free. "He won't teach my daughter, you heard him."
"He will teach, give him time," the giant cat argued, "be nice to him, he doesn't have it easy. The crew shun him, he has no friends. He needs to learn that aliens can be trusted, and that we're just as good as he is. Don't give him reason to doubt that, please." He released her, looking down on her in earnest.
S'reena nodded and walked out of the office. "Mr Chenzira, please accept my apology for my outburst. Where my family is concerned, I tend to...overreact."
Taita blinked in surprise, rising to his feet while patting the girl on her shoulder. "It's all right," he answered flatly, "I was out of line too. Bring your daughter to me during your next shift, and we'll see what I can do for her. I can't promise anything, but that I'll try."
"That's all I ask of you counselor, that you try. Good day." She took Yarna's hand and had her lead her to the bridge. "Commander Jackson?" she called out, "Captain?" Auric chirped softly, giving her a delayed visual of the bridge. S'reena sighed. "Does anyone know if anything is arranged for the children of officers, for this party?" she queried, hoping anyone would be able to answer her.

A few hours after the El Salvador had begun heading back to her usual patrol route whilst waiting for their next assignment, Savot entered the Ready Room and tapped his commbadge, =^=Savot to Lieutenant Fire. Following this afternoon's social gathering you may resume your duties at your discretion. It may be beneficial to seek out your Engineering staff during the party and spend some time around them. Enjoy yourself, Savot out.=^=
He then returned to the bridge where he assumed the center seat for awhile until the turbolift brought some unanticipated guests to the bridge. The vulcan turned to see Commander Hope escorted by her daughter Yarna. "Commander Jackson?" she called out, "Captain?" Auric chirped softly. S'reena sighed, "Does anyone know if anything is arranged for the children of officers, for this party?"
Savot rose from his chair and walked over to the two ladies, giving a polite nod for Yarna's benefit since she could see him, "Good day Commander Hope, Miss Yarna. Arrangements have indeed been made for the children; Commander Jackson has arranged for a gathering in the mess hall featuring an old-style motion picture presentation and various confectionary food choices."
"In fact I thought I might assume responsibility for the children's supervision while the rest of the adults enjoy yourselves in the holodeck. That would also give me the opportunity to fulfill my promise to Miss Yarna and perhaps she would be kind enough to assist me in liasoning with the other children present", Savot explained, then angled his view downward towards Yarna as though asking if that would be agreeable to her.
<Hope/Yarna>
"In the interests of safety I've also secured the assistance of the EMH in case any medical issues arise during the party", the captain stated as he thought back to when he'd actually asked the EMH about helping with the children...
************************************** [1.5 hours prior: Ready Room]
The EMH's brow furrowed and he looked at the captain oddly as though gauging the vulcan's sanity. When it seemed unlikely that Savot was joking the doctor stammered, "I'm a doctor, not a warden!"
Savot's brow arched, "They're children doctor, not prisoners."
"Tell that to the murderous vacuum that would gun them down like prison guards if they tried to leave the ship", the holographic physician countered.
Savot's countenance became wearied, "Really Doctor, I see no reason for a professional such as yourself to be intimidated by youths." He then paused and pursed his lips as though thinking, then helpfully suggested, "If it would make you more comfortable in the festive environment, I could program you a pointed hat of some sort?"
The EMH began to wish he could adapt his program to fire phasers from his eyes, then Savot continued, "Perhaps not. I thank you for your assistance, Doctor I shall see you in the Mess Hall."
Holographic eyes rolled, "Aptly named for the location of a children's party." The doctor's image had faded completely while his last word still echoed through the air of the Ready Room...
*************************************** [Present: Bridge]
Savot clasped his hands behind his back, looking between both mother and daughter, "Does that sound acceptable Commander? Lady Yarna?"

James Fire had been wandering the passage ways alone for the moment. He had been considering going back into his quarters to send his mother a message he doubted she would even respond as he wasn't well liked by them anymore since he joined Starfleet. Least of all by his father, but it would be nice of him to do such a thing. Suddenly however his concentration was broken by the commlink and an excited sounding Commander Jackson.
?All hands this is Commander Jackson? initiate skeleton crew protocols and get yourselves down to holodeck one.. where you leave rank at the door and bring a smile? that?s an order.?
James nodded, instead of going to his quarters to send a potentially ignored message through to his parents he would make his way to holodeck one. As he walked his thoughts dwelled on his father disowning his uncle because of Starfleet, and now suddenly he was considered to be in the same status quo. As a matter of fact he couldn't think of any family member that either of his parents ever talked about. It was always just him and his siblings and parents, and yet for all those years he never thought this odd. Until now of course and...
=^=Savot to Lieutenant Fire. Following this afternoon's social gathering you may resume your duties at your discretion. It may be beneficial to seek out your Engineering staff during the party and spend some time around them. Enjoy yourself, Savot out.=^=
The comm badge startled James a little bit breaking his concentration and the final thought that he could no longer find himself having the ability to think he would reply however, =^=Understood sir Lieutenant Fire out.=^=
=^=Holodeck One=^=
James walked into the holodeck at least he wasn't alone several of the junior officers and some enlisted crewmembers had arrived already. But, he was the only senior officer to arrive, but he was certain that the others would be there soon enough. Making his way to a small group of officers wearing the yellow engineering uniform. One of them was a Lieutenant human female who by records he assumed to be the senior assistant officer in engineering. Her name was Beverly Lucas, if he was not mistaken of course. Next to her was Tyler Knox who was the senior propulsion officer.
The other two included a betazoid Lieutenant and a betazoid Lieutenant Junior Grade. He was at a short on their names, but he was almost certain that the first betazoid was the senior systems officer. And, that the betazoid was beta shift's duty officer he approached them all. He only needed the engineering leading chief petty officer and leading petty officer and he would have his entire engineering staff standing here before him.
Tyler Knox turned as the girls he was with pointed it was their new chief engineering officer coming over to join them. In his mind he was thinking that it was about time they recieved a chief engineering officer. They had all heard he was a star pilot for the Federation and a fine officer. He was rather surprised that he switched over to be an engineering officer. Most in the field and in the Corp. were among the most nerdy of all fields. He wanted to say hello sir, but he recalled that they were supposed to leave ranks at the door, and he assumed that Mister Fire was a laid back person by his walk. "Well if it isn't 'Flyboy'!" He said happily
James smirked when he heard his former nickname from his academy days. "Umm Tyler Knox Starfleet's finest propulsion technicians." He said then he looked at each of the female officers, "And, hello Beverly I've heard quite a lot about you. As a matter of fact all of your records show your quite the team to have working under somebody. However, I can't recall you two's names?" He said at a loss looking between the two betazoid women.
Triea Ensio laughed, "My name is Triea Ensio, and James if you already looked in my records I'm sure you know my position."
"And, I am Jadzia Norado James."
James nodded, "Well it is a pleasure to meet all of you. I really do look foreward to working with each of you." He said he would put in for a meeting with all his staff members in order to discuss several things that needed to be accomplished. But, of course now was not the time to be discussing work it was time for them all to relax. And, all that James had been through he was more then happy to simply relax.

He entered the holodeck not knowing what to expect human party's were something he did enjoy but was always a little taken back at the theme's of the party's at times. Walking around looking at teh set up and nodding to people he didn't know. Still feeling like a outsider he walked around the room trying to find a quite spot to observe and learn something of the crew.
He thought it was a clever idea to throw a party after what they had just been through. Stress release was a good thing. You didn't need to keep everything bottled up all that did was cause problems down the line. It was wiered being back his last assignment he had been a instructor not this time. He always wondered what it would be like to run into someobody he had taught. Since his assignment he hadn't come across anybody. Not to mention he was still the new officer trying to fill some big shoes. What ever anybody thought of Col Wolf they held a high degree of respect. He hope that he would one day earn that same respect.
He kept to himself and ordered a cup of romulan ale as much as he hated to admit, it tasted better the blood wine at times. Although you would never get him to admit it in public he was klingon and somethings had to be kept quite. He still had friends on the home world and they would ride him to death if they ever found out.

Sitting in his ready on the Nevada he opened a Com channel to the El-Salvador. He had one last thing to do and hadn't had a chance to do it before he left. He also wanted to make sure the Man he had come to respect and reguard as a friend was safe. He waited a few minutes until the El-Salvador patched him through to Captain Savot. A moment passed and he found him self face to face with his once former Captain.
" Sorry for the interuption Captain I hope I have not caught you at a bad time. There wasn't a chance to say good bye to you before I left. So I gambled on the fact that the crew would figure away to get you back safe and sound and I'm happy to see that I won that bet. I hope all is well and that your New Marine officer is just as head strong as I once was.
I wanted to say thank you for all that you taught me, I belive that in some small part you are the reason why I got my own command. Your guidance has tempered my blade so to speak anyway I dont want to keep you, just wanted to say thank you and that may the winds be at your back. Also one small favor please remind Commander Jackson of the promise she made me if you would please sir and tell her that she is missed and I'm grateful for her what she taught me." <Tag Savot>

Savot had returned to his quarters to prepare for the children's party. He removed his uniform jacket and rank pips so he was just wearing his boots, pants, and the maroon shirt he wore under his jacket. Usually people would only see the red shirt's collar that indicated him as a command-line officer but today the entire upper torso garment would see the light of day. He was about to leave his quarters for the mess hall when he received an incoming transmission routed to him from the bridge, and Colonel Wolf's face filled the wall-screen installed behind his workdesk. "Greetings Colonel. My congratulations on your command", there was no logic in apologizing for not saying goodbye to the Marine since they both knew he'd hardly been in a position to do so when the transfer came through. Savot listened to his former SMO's message, nodding in gratitude at the end. "No apology necessary Colonel, I would not have wished you to miss such a rare opportunity on my account and as you said I was recovered safely nonetheless. We never stop learning Colonel Wolf; just as I 'tempered' you so too did you prompt me to try and better understand my crew's points of view." The vulcan captain tilted his head slightly as he continued, "Now that you are in the center seat; I imagine you will come to understand why I place my crew's wellbeing above that of my own. Many see the 'Captain' as the most important component of a starship to be safeguarded at all costs... But to my mind one of the most crucial aspects of a captain's job is to protect his or her crew, even at the expense of their own safety. Not exactly regulation-approved, I admit, but it is my belief nonetheless." Savot raised his hand in the vulcan salute to say his goodbye, "I will pass on your message to Commander Jackson. It was my honor to serve with you Colonel Wolf; may your crew live long and prosper." **************************************** [Mess Hall: 7 minutes later]Savot was in place in the Mess Hall and the EMH had transferred himself to the Mess' holographic imaging system as well, having altered his appearance parameters to replace his medical uniform with a Polo-styled light blue shirt, tan pants and what Savot believed were called 'penny loafers'. The Doctor saw Savot's garb and rolled his eyes while his voice dripped sarcasm, "Heavens forfend, Captain; just because you're off-duty is no reason to let yourself go." Savot's reply was pre-empted by the arrival of the first group of children: a Bolian mother bringing in her infant son. With some anxiety in her voice she queried, "Do you have experience with babies?" Savot's brow arched slightly and he replied almost eagerly, "Indeed; I once assisted in the delivery of a tribal chieftain's daughter on a world approximately in the Bronze Age of evolutionary development." The EMH rolled his eyes again, thankful his programmed face freed him from any fear of 'getting stuck that way' if he wore a particular facial expression too long. He smiled apologetically at the Bolian mother before turning towards the vulcan, "Thank you Nurse, I believe the question was directed at me." Savot's right eyebrow rose silently though he wore an almost amused expression at the Doctor's manner. The mother, reassured by the Doctor that all the children would be expertly looked after, handed the baby over along with the accompanying diaperbag of paraphernalia. Over the next 30 minutes, the rest of the El Salvador's children that were too young for their parents to want to leave them unsupervised were brought to the Mess Hall and left in the care of Savot and the Doctor. All together there were 12 youths present, nearly half of those accounted for by the Hope family alone. Savot, hands clasped behind him, bowed politely at the arrival of each, but especially for Kahlan and Yarna whom he had the most experience with. He bowed his head to the Hope parents as well, assuring them their children would be well taken care of and that they should enjoy themselves at the other party. Though he was always mentally aware of the ship's entire crew compliment and the number of family present with them, it was still surprising to see in person so few children among the ship's company. Still, he could not fault those parents who had chosen not to bring their offspring with them to this assignment. Not only was the Prometheus classed El Salvador more likely to receive combat-potential assignments, but for many the memory of the viral outbreak almost 2 years past was still fresh and a young child had been one of its victims... But, the past was the past and today was a time for celebration and contentment, and so it was that the kids were first provided the 'entree' meal to eat and mingle amongst each other until it was time for the movie. Since there were so few present it wasn't difficult to simply order each child's preference from the replicators, though Savot was still surprised by the fact that a large percentage of children from a plethora of different races all seemed to enjoy some Earth concoction called 'pizza'. Kahlan and Yarna, who plopped down on the beanbag beside Savot's, actually opted for food of the non-junk persuasion and being the elder sister Kahlan ensured the younger 3 didn't get anything outrageous either. While the ordering was underway, the Doctor had conjured himself a tall Chef's hat that even the older kids smiled over when they thought no one else was looking, and all-in-all the first leg of the party was rather pleasant. (Gang, I know downtime isn't as exciting as being accused of assassinating government leaders, but don't assume "off-duty" for your characters means "off-duty" for you as posters. It's important, and really fun when you get into it, to develop your character and show the kinds of things he/she/it does on their off hours. Some of Savot's quirks that have been constant for years now never existed before I had to think up something for him to be doing off the clock so that's often where characters get their most 'flavor' from. Don't miss the opportunity both to interact with your fellow simmers and let your characters themselves grow too! )

[Holodeck One]
Gorn Master Chief Zakryn Athgar was out of his security uniform. To be more specific, the bulky green-scaled lizardman was in khaki shorts, a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses. Nodding to chuckling people as he passed, Zak headed over towards his boss Ensign Andrus who was getting his first chance to get to know people in a non-crisis situation.
The Gorn took a sip from the drink he was holding, complete with a miniature umbrella in the glass, and tilted his head down until he was looking at the Andorian over his sunglasses, "Yeah I know; sunglasses not really needed against the holodeck sssun, but the ladiesss like that Magnum P.I. look." Zak chuckled as he made a joke at his own expense.
"How'sss the cola?", he asked Andrus.

Mary Poppins, Federation Style A JP by Commodore Savot and Commander S'reena Hope Yarna giggled at the appearance of the EMH, then slid a little closer to the captain. She ignored her big sister's warning glance as she tugged at his arm. “Can we watch the movie now?” she asked softly, leaning in closer is if talking to him in confidence, “and can we play hide and seek later?” She put on her best pouting face as she peered up at him. “You promised.” Savot was inwardly pleased that the Doctor was an apparent source of amusement for the children, since his Vulcan behavior was usually chuckle-free. He turned towards Yarna at her question, not appearing as if her proximity bothered or irritated him in the slightest. The captain raised his brow slightly at her pout as he replied, "There is no cause for feigned distress, Lady Yarna. I am fully prepared to keep my earlier promise to you with whatever form of play you choose." Smile widening into one of triumph, she hugged his arm. Kahlan sniggered at his use of the word 'lady', but kept her eyes away from them. She was more quiet than her younger, empathic, sister, and could care less for children's play. She preferred to study and leisurely read. Yarna on the other hand smiled with glee, munching on a carrot. “After the movie,” she promised earnestly. Savot bowed his head in silent assent to Yarna's request, then nodded to the Doctor to begin the movie since most of the children were finished with their 'first course' as it were. The EMH raised his own eyebrow, surprised that Savot didn't seem unnerved by the young half-Romulan's hug and made another mental tally mark in his database of ways that their Captain was quite unlike the average vulcan. The lights dimmed in the Mess Hall but did not go out entirely, as a safety measure so any children getting up for whatever reason wouldn't trip and fall on unused beanbag chairs or other paraphernalia. The film was projected through the holoemitters but as a 2-dimensional motion picture, a 23rd century remake of the Earth class 'Mary Poppins'. In this rendition, the stuffy banking father was a male Ferengi, his wife championing women's right to wear clothing, and the children in need of attention that first came in the form of a Betazoid Mary Poppins until the cheery end when of course the father would learn that his children were more important than red tape and latinum... Somewhere halfway through the movie, the smaller children, including the Hope triplets, started dozing off. Little Jeisen had crawled into Savot's lap, while Yarna was leaning against his arm, yawning. On his other side, another child had dozed off as well. Kahlan had found herself a book somewhere and had her eyes fixed on her reading material. Savot did express some surprise when the little one crawled into his lap, but he didn't interrupt the child's rest. When more started dropping though, understandably since eating often has a tiring impact since the blood leaves the bodies outer areas to aid in the digestive process within the stomach, the captain thought it might be a good time for a pause. The Bolian chimney-sweeps had just begun their dance when he softly cleared his throat to get the EMH's attention. The Doctor nodded and accessed the computer remotely through his own program links to pause the film and slowly increase the light level so as not to overload adjusting eyes. He then redonned his Chef's hat and announced it was time to select dessert. If the light didn't wake his slumbering companion, Savot would carefully pick him up from his lap and set him atop one of the vacant beanbag chairs, ensuring his head lay high enough that he wouldn't roll over and disrupt his breathing; but Savot would keep an eye on him anyway just to be completely safe. The movement jolted the half-Romulan girl awake and she blinked a few times in surprise. “Is the movie over yet?” she queried, surprise evident on her face, both slanted eyebrows raised. In a fluid movement she tucked a strand of her long hair back behind an elegantly pointed ear. Then her eyes fell on the cart, filled with cakes and puddings, the chef/EMH wheeled in and she smiled. Kahlan however was quicker than she and had already darted over. “Can we?” she asked, raising her voice a little, while meeting Savot's eyes. “Sir?” she added belatedly. Kahlan loved sweet desserts, more so than any of her siblings did. Yarna didn't so much as move from her spot, waiting patiently. Savot was glad he'd opted to supervise the children; he found the interaction quite pleasant particularly with the Hope children with whom he'd been slowly establishing a rapport. He gave a slightly tilted bow of his head to both the young girl's, noting how passionately Kahlan had responded to dessert time as compared to the initial meal and the somewhat childish movie presentation, "You may select any single item you wish. The Doctor will be more than happy to dispense it to you." At this, though being a good sport for the kids, the EMH couldn't help but relapse to his basic programming, "Oh yes, I'm ecstatic over the prospect of guaranteeing myself a dozen cavity appointments in sickbay later on." Though he grumbled toward the Vulcan the Doctor winked at the children as they approached and willingly handed them the dessert of their choice. Single item? Kahlan looked disappointed, but selected a fairly sized cake which the EMH handed to her. Yarna on her part selected a much smaller chocolate cake and handed it to one of her younger brothers. She then selected a bigger one, to share with her other brother and sister. “Thank you doctor,” she said politely, offering a small bow in return, before returning to her seat. The other children soon ambushed the cart, overwhelming the poor hologram. Yarna broke off a chunk of her cake and offered it to Jayvee, before offering another part to Kyala. The amount she had left for herself wasn't much, but she was content. “Aren't you having anything?” she asked pointedly. Savot's brow arched slightly that Yarna would bother to concern herself with whether or not he had dessert; he was pleased to see such a wealth of thoughtfulness in the child. "I am not yet experiencing hunger following our earlier meal. And though I understand one typically eats dessert for the enjoyment rather than the elimination of hunger, I find I derive much more satisfaction from observing your enjoyment than from indulging personally." He cast a brow-arched expression towards the Doctor in momentary concern, but after a moment and several cries of "Mutiny!", the EMH seemed to regain his hold on the situation once all the children had their desired confection. Savot turned back to Yarna, "It is commendable of you to look out for your siblings' interests." Yarna bowed her head, blushing at the compliment. “Mom always says to look to others first, before you look to yourself. Unless there's an emergency, where your own safety comes first, as you can't help others if you get yourself hurt. Mom says she learned that the hard way.” She smiled shyly, as she looked up. “It helps sometimes that I can feel what others feel, and sometimes it's very bad to have this.” She narrowed her eyes. “But I don't feel much from you...” Her face screwed up in puzzlement for a moment, before she decided it didn't matter. “Only a little,” she added with a slight smile. “Mommy's the worst...I don't know why.” Savot nodded at her first comments, raising both his eyebrows impressed at Yarna's ability to understand that sometimes you had to protect yourself first in order to ensure you were able to help those around you afterward, "Your mother is a wise and courageous woman as well." He then addressed her statement about him, "Most Vulcans learn to control their emotions, so even though the majority of us still experience them, there is usually very little outward sign for others to pick up on." His expression grew curious at her last words, "Do you mean that you feel more from your mother than you do from everyone else? It is not uncommon for mental perceptions to be especially strong among family members, particularly mothers for whom most children feel a strong empathy." The young girl nodded seriously, while the EMH restarted the movie, to keep the attention of the other children. “Especially when she's in distress,” she confessed, “and I can't stop it. Mommy says I might be too young, and that I'll learn when I get older. But it's not funny when it happens just like that, without warning. People look at me funny. And it's only me who has it. Kahlan always says she hears or feels nothing, and I don't think my brothers and Kyala feel anything either. I'm just weird like that, they say at school.” She stiffled a yawn, closing her eyes briefly. Savot tilted his head, replying gently to the girl, "Mental abilities can easily vary even within members of the same family. Rather than think yourself 'weird', I believe you would more accurately be described as quite gifted. You have the capacity to feel what others may need, and the compassion to provide it if you're able. From what I have observed of you, I believe you're quite honorable, like your mother." He glanced back to his young friend, but the steady rising and falling of her breathing told him she'd already fallen asleep. His lips almost formed a smile as he regarded her, then Savot merely allowed his arm to serve as pillow while the movie resumed.

He noticed the there commanding office had yet to make an appearance at the party. He kept his distantce from everbody not sure what to say or do. This was a new ship and new crew and he really didn't know what to say. Not to mention most people are a little shy around klingons. He couldn't blame them for that most klingons were rather brash and forceful. He could play the part himself when it was required but he had out grown that.
He had learned alot since leaving the empire, he had study and knew that if his people didn't change there way then like ever great empire they would fall. He could count the great empires that had risen and fell. As far as he was concerned it was only a matter off time as long as his people lived the warrior way they would fall. Until a balance could be found they were living on borrowed time.
He watched the crew they seemed to enjoy them selves there was something to be said about having a FO who was the ships counselor at one time. While she was still learning the command part of her job she had the crew welfare down to a T. He watched and actually enjoyed it taking notes in his head about people inter actions. Knowing the crew would help in future mission and the best way was to watch when they were relaxed. <Tag anybody>

Lieutenant James Fire continued to make small talk with the other engineering officers when he noticed their new marine officer make his way inside the holodeck. He would carefully watch the klingon from the corner of his eye noticing that he seemed to be keeping his distance from everybody poor guy didn't know any of them. He recalled the marine officer being flown on board in the middle of crisis and now crisis adverted it was time that they got to relax. Yet James noted that he was not relaxed, and so James would walk over towards him noticing as a flight control officer came near him. Instantly he recogonized her to be Lieutenant Kelley Belanna he would smile as she followed him. Finally he came to the marine officer.
"Welcome aboard Colonel, My name is James Fire I am the chief engineering officer on board."
The bajoran female looked at the klingon and smiled, "And, I am Kelley Belanna the acting chief helmsman."
James continued to speak, "Are you enjoying your time on board Colonel?"

Stacey watched as the holodeck filled with the crew, they separated and formed small groups and discussed things amongst themselves.
Stacey smiled to herself as the crew mingled doing exactly what Savot and her had hoped. She walked over to the one of the tables with food on them and began to pick herself out a plate .she walked over to a shady spot under a tree and sat down. She enjoyed the scene of the crew relaxing it was a pleasant change from the scenes of them over worked and over stressed.
A young woman walked over to her and asked. “May I join you Commander?”
Stacey looked up and smiled as she patted the ground next to her, after a rather pleasant conversation about nothing of importance Stacey stood up and walked into the middle of the holographic park and raised her voice to be heard over everyone.
“Okay people can I have your attention.’ It took a few moments but eventually everyone looked in her direction and she started.
“Well it has been a hard run for all of us.. but Captain Savot and I want you to know we have been immensely impressed with the professionalism and dedication you have all shown… we have lost some friends and we have gained some.. I would like you all to welcome colonel k’ratak.. who joined us and went straight to work.. so you may not have met him yet…. But for now enjoy yourselves.”

He looked at Lt Fire there new chief engineer and smiled " I'm fine Mr. Fire just trying to get a feel for the ship and crew. It's been awhile since I have been on a star ship and like any thing new. You just want to try and fit in and get to know the lay of the land" <Tag Fire>
He looked to the center of the room when Commander Jackson spoke up introducing him as a new memeber of the Crew. He just smiled and nodded his head and people who turned to look at him. " Thank you commander I hope I can do as good of a job as your former Marine officer. Who by the way let me a note reminding me to remind you of a certain promise you made. He did not go into any detail but I assume you will know what he meant" <Tag jackson>

" I'm fine Mr. Fire just trying to get a feel for the ship and crew. It's been awhile since I have been on a star ship and like any thing new. You just want to try and fit in and get to know the lay of the land"
James listened to what he had to say and had begun to reply when Commander Jackson started to speak to them all.
James then turned his attention back upon the colonel, "Yes I agree, and you will find that the entire crew is easy to warm up to including the senior officers. And..."<tag k'ratak> Suddenly another officer approached them and turned his attention away from the colonel, "May I help you Mister O'Hare?" He asked kindly. The ensign was currently the engineering duty officer during the party along with the rest of the skeleton crew in engineering as though there was a party going on the engineers had to keep the ship manned in that critical area.
"Yes sir there seems to be a flux in the power grid we cannot localize it, but we believe it is within the propulsion system and could cause some major problems in the warp coils. I can get Ty to look into it if your too busy?"
James shook his head, "Nope let Ty have his fun with the girls over there I'll handle it. If you'll excuse me Colonel seems that engineering has some pressing matters that I must attend to."

Stacey was overjoyed to see the crew relaxing and getting along, instead of stressed out and at each others throats. The park setting she had chosen for the location was nice the artificial sunlight brought the warmth of a real sun, although a slight difference was noticeable as nothing could replace the real thing.
She stood up and rubbed off the grass that had clung to her pants as she had rested against the tree. Looking around she spotted the table that had placed upon it the sweet foods from many cultures, Stacey had intended to forgo the sweet food knowing at her age it was easier to put on weight. And while she was not a vain person she did take care of her body.
Jackson had made it a few meters away form the table when she noticed a young man carrying a plate overfilled with a food akin to mashed potatoes normally nothing to take note of but this man had tripped on a log and the plate went flying. Again not normally something of great concern, but the plate was headed for her.
She was about to duck, but her reflexes were not as fast as they used to be and the plate hit her square in the chest, the soft food splattering onto her uniform and face.
She reached up for her face and with a quick brush of her hand wiped away the food form her eyes, she looked up and noticed the young man go severerly red in the face.
“Oh my… I am … So …Ssssorry.”
Stacey grinned and took a handful of the substance and flung it back in his direction, it splashed onto his face , but also another unintended victim was splashed with the food, she in turn yelled. “Oh is that how it is ma’am.’ And flung her cake at Jackson, who this time managed to doge the incoming food and scoop another handful of Mashed food and fling it back, before long the entire crew were giggling and running around like school children as food flew everywhere and at everyone.

He slowly watched the food fight start near there first officer if he hadn't known any better he would have thought it was a klingon party with out the blood. He looked around the room and Noticed Commander Hope and here mate enter the room. He had to think for a moment what her mate's name was it had been a long time since he had seen him. He waited until she noticed him in the corner he was a little hard to miss and he was happy to see her. He considered her a friend it didn't matter what race somebody was when he chose his friends.
He waited for Commander Hope to make her way to him and wondered what she would think of Commander Jackson food fight. Lucky for him nobody was brave enought to throw food at him in fear he might rip there head off.

S'reena listened to the sounds as she and Michael entered the room, then stopped as she heard Michael's booming laughter. "Michael what's going on?"
"Why don't you go to K'ratak. He's over in the corner. Auric dear, why don't you guide her?" The golden firelizard chirped softly, then winged forward, chirping towards her bondmate and sending images. At that precise moment, a large merengue pie struck the blind Romulan full in her face, without warning. She froze where she stood, clearly startled. "Michael?" she called uncertainly, when Auric went 'between' to avoid a second cake. "K'ratak? What's going on here. Stacey?"
Michael just couldn't stop laughing. His shirt was sticky with icing, though the pie had indeed missed him. The icing, however, had not. He was laughing so hard, he was unable to answer his wife. He could see she was startled, and overly surprised, but there was nothing he could do.
