ANNOUNCEMENTS
Having been notified of the intent for Section Admiral Paul Drew to retire and resign from Section 47, the CSS reluctantly accepted his resignation. It should be noted that Paul Drew did not leave CSS with any recommendations for replacement, but left the decision of his successor to the members of the administrative staff. It should also be noted that during his tenure as Section Admiral, Paul Drew has served the site with distinction. The CSS acknowledges the sacrifice of his time and thanks him for exemplary leadership.
Admiral mc_7of_9 has also notified CSS of his intent to retire and resign. CSS reluctantly accepted his resignation. The Admiral has been a long-standing member who has served S47 in a multitude of roles – JAG Chief Justice, CO of the USS Nevada, and Fleet CO, to name a few. CSS would like to thank him for his outstanding service to the site.
NEW BUSINESS
Item One:Nomination for candidates for the position of Section Admiral.
The call for nominations was made by the acting chair. Fleet Admiral Magellan Lin was nominated but, stating he was very honored by the nomination, he withdrew his name for consideration.
RA Sonak Reckus and Captain Stacey Jackson were nominated and discussed. (Nominees were discussed privately and then voted on; the nominees then rejoined the conversation and cast their individual votes.) The results of the voting were as follows:
Sonak Reckus:
Ayes: 1
Nays: 4
Stacey Jackson
Ayes: 3
Nays: 1
Abstentions: 2
(RA Reckus abstained from casting a vote on either nominee.)
Motion to Promote Captain Stacey Jackson to the position and rank of Section Admiral passed.
Item Two: Nomination of Section Admiral Paul Drew for the Roddenberry Star.
Three years ago this month then newly elected Section Admiral Paul Drew said he had very big shoes to fill after the departure of Section Admiral Duke Nova. Three years later he proved not only to fill those shoes but make them his own, Paul Drew has in his long service in Section 47 has held many administrative positions in each he has excelled with his hard work, dedication and deep caring for the site and all its members.
In his time as Section Admiral many tough decisions have needed to be made, they were often made easier thanks to his dedicated and thoughtful leadership. CSS and indeed Section 47 itself has been extremely lucky to have him throughout the years, many members of the site both past and present have been helped in some way by him.
It is with that in mind that all members of CSS thought Section Admiral Drew was worthy of the Roddenberry Star.
Ayes :6
Nays: 0
Abstentions: 2 (Section Admiral Drew and Vice Admiral Smith did not provide a vote)
