Illian was amused with the responses of the Tigershark crew, but more so with the way KezTrek handled T'Brel, still the young officer had shown, that despite his temperament, he was not lacking in compassion, or in bravery.
"You may return to your quarters and rest, there will be no further interruptions this evening I assure you." Illian spoke aloud.
~ This isn't over ~ KezTrek said.
"Admiral, Lieutenant, won't you join me for a few moments before you retire, Kirion will return Commanders Laika and Thirteen to the rooms." Illian suggested, insistently speaking aloud.
"Very well." KezTrek agreed, her voice doing nothing to hide her irritation.
"Come, there is something I wish to show you." Illian told them, leading KezTrek and T'Brel on way, while the others were led back to their assigned quarters.

J'Leera was rather stunned and annoyed as she and Thirteen were escorted back to their quarters or prison cell she thought in a rather gloomy mood. She was very suspicious of Illian and wanted to know what he was planning to show Keztrek and T'Brel. She wasn't sure if Illian could read her thoughts as well, but she thought some nasty things about him, hoping that he'd hear. It made her feel somewhat better, but she was still anxious about her crew mates' safety.
Thirteen did not seem too pleased about being separated from their CO either. Normally he did not display emotion, but J'Leera thougth that she saw anger in his eyes.
As they walked back, she looked their guard over. He was a typical...whatever these people were and was very strong looking. She doubted that she could take him on, but with Thirteen's help...she looked over at him. Not now... she decided, but realized that it certainly was a viable option if they had to resort to using force.
An unusual computer console...or what appeared to be a computer console momentarily caught her attention. On the display she saw an unusual script that she immediately recognized. Although she couldn't remember the exact name, she remembered it's distinct features, almost similar to the ancient Earth script, Arabic in some ways, although she also remembered seeing similar script in English.
However, when she paused to look at her, the guard roughly shoved her foreward, but did not speak. She gave him an annoyed look, but contintued on her way. When they reached the room, they both walked in and the door immediately shut behind them. She looked around and sighed. "Now what?"

T'Brel didn't know why Illian wanted to talk to the Admiral and him. To be honest T'Brel at this point didn't want to be anywhere near the man. He just felt such an anomosity towards the man that was leading them towards a room that was totally isolated from anyone.
"What you are about too has never been seen by anyone other than my people," Illian informed both of them. T'Brel of course was mad, but there was something that he couldn't ignore and that was his curiosity. It was something that he took from his mother and something that was disaproved by his father.
The three of them walked into the room and T'Brel felt silent both physically and mentally.
Off: I don't know what he's going to show us. I hope I didn't mess anything up.

She hadn't heard anything from the others for quite some time now and she was becoming quite worried. Banging on the door and yelling to be let out was quite tempting, but that would probably annoy their guards even more. She took to pacing instead after she had examined the entirety of the room and found nothing. Their captors were not dumb and obviously cleaned it out before they dumped her and Thirteen there.
Thirteen was off by himself staying quiet, perhaps to conserve engery. Which is what I probably should be doing.
J'Leera went over to a chair and sat down, starring at the wall.

A clunking noise from above Luke's head was followed by the lighting in the holodeck to deactivate. A few stiffled screams filled the blank expanse momentarily and then the lights flickered on again.
The first thing to notice was the environment change. The officers in Holodeck 2 were now in the middle of an enormous stadium type structure, not unlike those used by the Romans in gladitorial contests.
Luke turned round as a voice boomed over them. There on a raised podium stood Orlinis. His voice magnified and his image displayed on viewscreens dotted around the Holodeck.
"Holodeck 2!" He yelled. "I need your attention immediately and for Commander Dowding to come join me!"
Luke frowned and remained still.
"Now Commander!" The voice boomed.
Luke felt something in his mind, an icy chill... they were telepathic and this son of a... was invading his mind...
Now Commander! Now!Said the icy chill of a voice.
Luke began to walk, almost under the control of that ghost like voice. He walked up the raised steps and stood next to Orlinis.
"Now!" The invasive individual yelled. "Commander Fitzpatrick, Lieutenant Commander Bower and Lieutenant Kirk. Join us!"
The three officers complied and individually made their way to the podium. The Holodeck was filled with confused mumblings and whisperings and looks of fear.
"Commander Dowding, it is your job to decide who will be the victim and who will be the rescuer."
"What?" Luke said in a knee-jerk reaction.
"You will choose to of these officers to take part in a battle of fear. The rest of your officers will watch, until it is there turn of course. Oh, and you cannot pick yourself before you even think it."
Luke shook his head. "No way, what does this involve. I'm not putting this crew up for anything."
Orlinis sighed. "Bring him." He stated. Three of the creatures brought up a small child, one that Luke recognised all to instantly... his stomach turned cold. His palms sweaty.
KezTrek's boy...He thought.
Indeed CommanderCame the voice of Orlinis in his mind. It's the boy or two of your officers. Your choice, but don't take too long. Or I will decide for you. Orlinis smiled at this point, an evil smile that Luke felt right deep within him.
Luke looked at the three officers in turn, none of them should have to go through something unknown. What could Orlinis have planned?
"Choose Commander, I grow tired." Orlinis said, patting KezTrek's sons head in a sinisterly affectionate way.
Luke looked apologetically at the two he had chosen.
"Lieutenant Kirk and Commander Fitzpatrick." Luke knew he should have chosen Max, what with Rye being... well... not stable... but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
Orlinis smiled, managing to show every single tooth in his mouth. "An interesting choice Commander." He said. "Memebers of the Tiger Shark crew, all take a seat immediately. The entertainment is about to begin!"
Slowly the officers filed into the seats of the stadium, doing as they were told for fear of being the next one to face the unknown challenge.
"Commander Fitzpatrick, you will be the victim. Lieutenant Kirk, you will be the rescuer. Fitzpatrick please take your position on the centre podium down there." Orlinis said pointing. "And Kirk, please remain here. This is going to be good."
Rye stepped down to the podium in the centre and stood there. The Holodeck shimmered and the base of the podium changed as did the base of the stadium. Instead of a blank floor, it appeared to be moving. A terrified yell came from Rye as the floor began to move across his body.
"Scorpions!" Someone yelled from the crowd.
"Indeed." Orlinis said smiling. "I believe Commander Fitzpatrick isn't a fan of the Scorpion. Oh and the safety protocols are off so I wouldn't attagonize them Commander." He paused and turned to Kirk. "Now please stand here." Orlinis said poiting to what Luke could see as a small red circle on the podium they stood on. "Now myself and Commander Dowding will remain here and watch, whilst you attempt to save Mr. Fitzpatrick, there is a five minute limit. If you do not reach and bring back the good Engineer in that time then he will die. One final thing Lieutenant." He said, his eyes glowing. "You will have to face what you... dislike... shall we say." He had to yell this last bit as Rye's yells became louder.
The Holodeck flickered again and there amongst the scorpions were...
"Drones..." Luke muttered.
"Not just any old Drones Commander." Orlinis said laughing. "Right Lieutenant?"
Looking harder, Luke noticed that they were all the same Drone. A very small little girl. Each one chanting:
I was assimilated. Resistance was Futile. That Drone did It.
When the last bit was uttered they pointed to Kirk and repeated the process again.
"Don't go too near them Lieutenant." Orlinis said. "They have a score to settle... Now let the challenge begin!" Orlinis pushed Kirk into the writhing floor and motioned for Luke to take seat. "Relax Commander. This could prove to be a very intense five minutes."
Luke remained standing...
What had he done?!

"What you are about too has never been seen by anyone other than my people," Illian informed both of them.
KezTrek looked sceptical, but nodded and followed Illian into the room.
It looked like they were outside, but for the hull plating. There were trees, live ones and by all accounts they were... talking. It was more like a dull rumble of words, not easily distinguishable, but it was definitely talking.
"There are several of these on each of our ships, they are old and wise, from a time before our people travelled the stars, when we came from your world." Illian said.
"Our world?" T'Brel asked.
"Earth," KezTrek answered. "You came from Earth."
Illian nodded. T'Brel could not contain his surprise.
"I suspected, why did you show us this, why tell us?" KezTrek asked.
"Had that simulation been real, he would be dead." Illian said.
KezTrek nodded in agreement but didn't see much point in verbally responding.
"The two of you are like no other aliens I have met. You seem to possess many of the same qualities as my own people and yet you are... different. The other two are not like you, but they are." Illian seemed both intrigued and perplexed.
"We're a varied people, the Federation has more than 150 species in it, but we all work together, our differences make us stronger." KezTrek said.
"And there others like you two? Vulcan? Many thousands?" Illian asked.
"Yes." KezTrek answers, failing to see why he asked when he clearly knew.
"I would be interested in meeting more." Illian said.
"There are more Vulcan's on the Tigershark." KezTrek told him.
Illian shook his head. "You can not go back there yet."
KezTrek's eyes narrowed, she could feel T'Brel stiffen beside her. "I believe we'd like to get some rest now." She said, trying to control herself, she hated this feeling of being trapped.
They were on the way back to their room when KezTrek felt a prickle in the back of her mind, it was a sense of danger, it was not until the doors closed behind them in the quarters they'd been assigned, as J'Leera and Thirteen began ask where they had been, that KezTrek realized what it was.
"Paul." KezTrek's eyes flashed with anger as she turned back to the door, fully prepared to kill anyone who stood between her and returning to her son, but after a few moments the sense of danger passed. She could still feel fear from her son, but he was no longer in danger.
"Admiral?" J'Leera looked at her, both puzzled and concerned.
"Nothing." KezTrek lied, turning back to her officers.

Kirk stepped back as the began to hear the little girls voices in his head, thousands of voices all chanting at the same time. No matter what Kirk did he could not find a way to block the voices. Kirk was pushing on his head as the voices volume grew to a painful level. Closing his eyes he tried to block out the pain as best he could, before he could do anything he felt a single hand push against his chest, throwing him off the ledge and falling hard on his back.
Kirk quickly opened his eyes as the jet black scorpions were now starting to make their way towards Kirk. Looking around him he also saw several of the little girl drones, chanting, and throwing red laser beams around the room as they walked.
Kirk could hear Fitzpatrick screaming in the middle of the room as the scorpions continued to crawl all over his body. Getting to his feet Kirk tried to calm himself down, Fitzpatrick's life was in danger at the moment, and Kirk had to fight the fear, and sorrow that came with the image of the marching drones.
"This is just a computer program, this is just a computer program." Kirk said to himself as he began to make his way to the commander.

Rye strode into the Holodeck with a very disappointed look on his face. He had been free, but then, he made a signal, and alerted the elves on board. In his prime, the commander would never have done such a thing.
Rye saw the looks of many of his old friends. Some were a little unnerved, and other like Luke and J’leera were actually pretty happy to see him. Rye was in the middle of a conversation with Lt. Nguyen, one of his old engineering crewmen, when he heard an announcement.
“Commander Fitzpatrick. Please report to the arena at once.” [/color] Rye was confused; why would anyone want him? Would he be executed?
Rye moved quickly to a newly formed area of the holodeck, consisting of a large arena, and a slightly elevated platform in the middle. Two aliens approached him, and grabbed hold of him. Rye was terrified. They were going to publicly execute him for rebelling. He began to quiver and cry. This appeared to annoy the guards, so they hit him over the head with their rifles. Rye fell a large pain in his head, then all went dark.
Rye awoke shortly after with a light bump on his head. “Now that the good commander is awake, we shall begin. Mr. Fitzpatrick, you are going to be rescued by your new friend Lieutenant Kirk. Enjoy.” As the alien said those last words, a whirring noise drew Rye’s attention to the floor, where he saw thousands and thousands of scorpions. Rye began to convulse uncontrollably, as the clicking got louder and louder. Rye heard an announcement over the speaker, but he was too scared to care… “Well. I don’t believe that the good engineer is very fond of these little creatures. Remember, the safety protocols are offline, so you will feel their bites.”
In the distance, Rye saw John Kirk fighting piles of borg. Rye put it together. These are what I’m afraid of. I’ve just been afraid of everything. The borg must be what Kirk is afraid of. I just need to take control. Rye looked around, and saw the scorpions slowly climbing up the platform, and edging ever nearer to his feet. Rye just froze. Not out of fear, but out of intelligence. If he was immobile, maybe, just maybe, they would not sting him. Rye let his body go limp as the monsters crawled up his leg, slowly going over his torso, and onto his head. Rye could feel each tiny leg skittering across his face. He sat, and waited for Kirk to come save him.

"There are several of these on each of our ships, they are old and wise, from a time before our people travelled the stars, when we came from your world." Illian said.
"Our world?" T'Brel asked.
"Earth," KezTrek answered. "You came from Earth." T'Brel didn't believe what he was hearing. How could these people, who are more technology advance than the Federation come from one of its member planets. What really surprised him was the fact that Admiral Keztrek seemed to know this little fact.
T'Brel didn't like where the conversation was going. T'Brel was almost 100% that Illian knew what he was asking, in fact T'Brel felt as they were being chased into something. He was grateful when Admiral Keztrek asked to be excused.
They were politely escorted back to their room, and as soon as they entered T'Brel felt a load come off his chest.
"Paul." KezTrek said with a flash of anger. T'Brel was hit by the maternal instinct immediatley, he knew that Admiral Keztrek would do anything right now to get to her son. Then all of a sudden the feeling changed and Admiral KezTrek seemed to calm down a bit.
"Admiral?" J'Leera looked at her, both puzzled and concerned.
"Nothing." KezTrek said. T'Brel knew that hsi commanding officer was lying to them, but he felt that it was her right to be left alone at the moment. T'Brel waited for something to happen, but nothing did. So for the first time today, T'Brel let his body relax and shortly after that he fell asleep.

You stole my life, You stole my life, YOU STOLE MY LIFE!
The voices continued to rip through Kirk's head with a vengeance as he continued to head in the direction of Fitzpatrick. Looking up from the floor Kirk noticed Fitzpatrick had calmed himself down, looking as if he was in a state of meditation.
Suddenly to Kirk's right a small arm appeared out of nowhere striking him on right side of his face. Kirk vision went in and out of focus as he tried to stand. Several of the small drones grabbed Kirk by his arms and yanked him back to his feel right into the path of another drones assimilation tendrils. The tendrils struck Kirk neck sending jolts of electricity through his body.
"You are not real!" Kirk yelled as the electricity ran through his body.
After several seconds the drones dropped Kirk letting his body fall limp onto the ground. Kirk fought to stay conscious, focusing his attention on his cremate.
Minor damage to sub-systems, regeneration needed, Kirk heard inside his head. Kirk again tried to get to his feet but was met again with small Borg hands. This time Kirk reacted faster than the holo graphic drones, pushing his way past the two drones attempting to hold him again for another round of electrocution.
Kirk was now running towards Fitzpatrick, "Commander! Hang on!" Kirk yelled.

Although J'Leera was anxious for information, she could see that this really wasn't the time for that. Keztrek looked very worried and T'Brel looked very exhausted. She decided to leave them alone for the moment to sort through whatever Illian told them or did to them. They would talk when they were ready and J'Leera wasn't going to press them.
Seeing how everyone else was resting, she went over to one of the chairs and tried to rest herself, but her stomach kept growling loudly reminding her that she hadn't eaten since early that morning. She tried not to think about the bizarre foods that Illian offered them earlier, but the images kept popping up in her mind. She had not eaten then because she was suspicious of him, but at that moment she was willing to try some of it. That wasn't going to happen though, so she forced herself to think of other things.

T'Brel was tired, but no real sleep came to him. The fact that he was sleeping on an unfamilar ship trapped while his fellow crewman were being tested by an unfamiliar species. Further troubleing was the fact that the people holding them were descendants of Earth.
T'Brel like everyone else had been surprised when the USS Voyager discovered that the a major power from the Delta Quandrant orginated from Earth. Captain Chakotay had clearly stated they were reptilian species that were clearly related to our species.
Now here they were talking to another species who had surpassed the technology of the Federation and was playing with them as they were toys.
So T'Brel as quietly as he could got off his bed and got to the floor and started to meditate. Meditation had not come easily for T'Brel since be joined. Lucile the first Peer's host had never liked Vulcan's that much so he would always have a tingleing prick in his mind once he started doing things that related to the Vulcan.
T'Brel quickly came to a meditation point where he could see all the former Peer's host.
"Hello Masen, Lucile, Selin, Bejal, and Rhea" T'Brel told all of the former host. "You should just stop being Vulcan, T'Brel," Lucile said.
"Not this again," Bejal said.
"I don't know how you were allowed to become a host Lucile," Selin said.
"Well I don't know how you became a the Trill minister," Rhea said.
"Can you guys shut up please," T'Brel said irritated. That burst got everyone's attention. T'Brel was still knew at this so he didn't know how to access all of the host previous memories.
"What do you guys think of these people and of Illian?" T'Brel asked.
At that question there was a flurry of discussion which made T'Brel think twice to of ever asking them again for advice.
Hours later
The conversation with the previous host was enlightend T'Brel's point of view on many subject, but unfortunately they didn't help him in this situation.
"It is time for you wake up," the soilders said as they came into their rooms. Everyone got up and Admiral KezTrek's first words were.
"Are you going to let me go to my ship?"

Luke watched, hypnotically horrified at what played out before him. Rye obviously had a great fear of scorpions and Luke could tell, like any other liberate Borg, that Kirk felt deep regret for his past actions, whether they be his fault or not.
Kirk flinched as one of the Drone brushed past him, he looked at Kirk then Rye and then at Orlinis, standing to his feet.
"Enough!" Luke cried out. "You will end this now, this is barbaric!"
Orlinis smiled and slowly rose to his feet, he grabbed KezTrek's son and held him over the edge of the podium by the young boy's clothes.
"I think you want to take a seat Commander." Orlins said wickedly.
Luke retreated back and Orlinis placed the boys feet firmly on the ground.
"Now sit down Commander." He said, himself taking his seat. "And for that little outburst, Lieutenant Kirk only has 1.5 minutes remaining to return the good Engineer safely."
Luke sunk in his seat, he had just cost his crewman valuable time for his emotional outburst. He couldn't help it, this guy had him wired. No one got to Luke this much, no one except his brother...
The time ticked slowly away and Luke sat dreading the last few seconds and as they slowly came round Luke knew he had sentenced at least Rye to his death...
"Time!" Orlinis roared. Kirk had made it so close to Rye but he had not managed to reach the Engineer, which of course, if Luke had not yelled out then he may well have achieved the goal. "Lieutenant Kirk you have failed. Commander Fitzpatrick..." He paused. "Goodbye."
The Holodeck shimmered and a beam of light flickered across the stadium.
"NOOOOO!!!" Luke cried, falling to his knees.
"Crew of the Tiger Shark." Orlinis said addressing all the Holodecks. "The second challenge will begin soon."
Luke simply knelt on the floor.
What had he done?

"Oh do get up Commander." Orlinis said. "You're making a scene."
Luke sharply rose to his feet and grabbed Orlinis by the collar. "You killed him!" He yelled.
"Unhand me Commander and I will explain all."
Luke eyed the vile excuse for a sentient being carefully and then slowly released his grip.
"Your good Commander Fitzpatrick is not dead as you assume, but merely somewhere else."
Luke frowned. "Don't play games with me Orlinis." He growled.
"Oh very well. Fitzpatrick, along with the children of the Tiger Shark have been transported to various... shall we say... pressure points, around the Tiger Shark." He paused and then cleared his throat, ready to address everyone again.
"Crew of the Tiger Shark!" He yelled, Luke noticed that Kirk was brought up to the podium, he looked very shaken. Luke caught his eye and tried to express how very proud he was of his new officer through a look. Orlinis continued. "The next stage of the contest is a little search and rescue on a large scale." He said, barely suppressing an excited giggle. "The crew of the Tiger Shark will be divided into two, with the task of finding as many of the missing crew members as possible in the alotted time limit. If you do not, then either they or the equivelant number of you will die. There will be complications of course and you will not have access to the computer but I will let you figure that out for yourself. Let it begin!"
The Holodeck shimmered again, but this time with the familiarity of the transporter. Luke found himself and what appeared to be half of the crew, including Max and Kirk, in Cargo Bay 2.
Orlinis' voice came over the comm.
"Cargo Bays 1 and 2. You have 1 hour, make good use of your time. You are against the clock and each other!"
The comm cut and the lights flickerd out. The only lighting given was the flashing of the Red Alert. The Cargo Bay doors hissed open and Luke saw that it looked like the rest of the ship was the same.
"Ok!" He called. "There is no point us all doing this, I don't want any unecessary casualties. I want Bower, Kirk, Ikar and Lamos with me. The rest of you stay here, do what you can to amuse yourselves but do not do anything to aggrivate our 'guests'!" Luke finished.
He looked at Kirk and could just see the ex-drone in the flickering red light. "Are you up for this Lieutenant?" He asked.

"Are you up for this Lieutenant?" Dowding asked.
Kirk took a moment to gather himself, "Yes sir, I will be fine."
Kirk could not understand what had happened back in the pit with the scorpions. He had been frozen with pitty and fear of the Borg drone he was unable to save Fitzpatrick. He knew it was a holo deck program but the fear with inside him was too strong to overcome.
Kirk followed Commander Dowding as he began to lead the way down the corridore. Kirk could fell how one side these tasks were, some of them seemed almost impossible with an incredablly harsh consiquence for not completing the task.
It wont happen again, Kirk thought to himself. Closing his eyes Kirk adjusted his vision using the ocular implants from the normal visible range to an enhanced night vision. Once the change was made he did not say anything to the commander for fear the alien life forms would hear and make attempts take Kirk out of the equation.
"Do you think we can find working tri-corders in this program?" Kirk asked.

The guards did not respond to the Admiral's question and just turned around and left.
"What the hell is going on?" Admiral KezTrek said in frustration. T'Brel saw that everyone in the room was equally agitated at the way they were being treated, but hence they could not do anything at the moment. Then all of a sudden the lights in the room went off again, which startled the group into silence.
"Why are they doing this to us?" J'Leera asked. No one had an answer for her, but T'Brel was clearly worried about Thirteen, who looked ill. He hasn't regenerated yet, has he T'Brel thought.
"Thirteen, are you alright?" T'Brel asked walking up to the officer.
"Please don't come any closer Lt. I'm trying to reserve my energy," Thirteen responded. T'Brel stopped and turned around heading towards the door.
T'Brel couldn't help but touch the strange exotic door and as soon as he touched it the door opened and he was ushered out by a strange unknown wind. The entire group got to their feet as they realized what just happened.
"What did you do, Lt.?" Admiral KezTrek asked across the door.
"I don't know," T'Brel said as he tried to get the door back open, but to no avail.
"Lt. it is not opening, so go and find a way to communicate with the Tiger Shark," Admiral KezTrek requested.
"But ma'am I cannot leave you like this...," T'Brel said trying to make the Admiral change her mind.
"Lt. that is an order Lt.," she said with a stern voice.
~T'Brel trust me we will be safe here~. T'Brel could feel the calming effect that the Admiral's mind had on him.
T'Brel turned around and headed down the corridor. The strange ship exhilarated his senses, something that never happened on Vulcan. T'Brel tried to follow a path that would lead him towards a communication console, but it seemed as though T'Brel was being led somewhere.
After about ten minutes of walking the ship, T'Brel stopped. He had arrived at the door that Illian had shown him and the Admiral the day before.
"How did I end up here?" T'Brel said out loud. For no reason at all, T'Brel felt as though he was needed in the room so he made his way towards the door. He arrived at the door with nothing strange happening and the door opened to welcome him in. T'Brel was going to go back, but he could not.
~Welcome T'Brel of Vulcan and Trill~ voices said in his head. T'Brel looked around the strange room filled with the ancient trees to find out who was talking to him, but he realized that it wasn't someone it was the trees.
"You led me here didn't you?" T'Brel asked the trees.
~Yes, we did. We are curious to know about you," one single voice said.
"What are you?" T'Brel asked.
"We are old and wise, we have lived for many ages and we are far from home," the one tree said again, but out loud.
"You mean Earth," T'Brel said.
"Yes, Terra, we left our home planet because it was going to be unlivable for many years," the tree said. T'Brel wanted to know where the voice was coming from and headed towards the middle of the ancient grove. The tree was clearly older than the rest, but it still bore fruit.
"Hello, T'Brel," the tree said. Peer's previous host told T'Brel to be cautious, but T'Brel could not help himself.
"Hello," T'Brel said just inches away from the tree. The tree did not respond to him anymore, but before T’Brel knew it the branches of the tree moved to make contact with his head. T’Brel was caught off guard and he immediately felt the immense presence of the ancient being. T’Brel could not explain what he was seeing, but there were so many images that he did not understand.
T’Brel didn’t know for how long this went on, but once he opened his eyes he felt danger.
“T’Brel you must leave, my people are coming this way,” the tree said,” what they are doing is horrible, we will try to help you and your people.”
“Thank you, but what is your name?” T’Brel asked as he headed out the door.
“Not know just make your way back to your people, before they find you,” the tree said. T’Brel nodded and ran out of the room. He still didn’t know the ship, but he knew he was going the correct way. In a matter of seconds he was back at the door and he once again touched it.
“Don’t go out the door, guards are heading this way,” T’Brel said finally catching his breath.
“How do you know that, Lt.?” J’Leera asked.
“Because the trees told me so,” T’Brel said. The next few moments were spent telling them everything that had happened, but he was not able to finish as the guards came in and told everyone to follow them.
OCC: I did this because no one is really posting on this side of the ship. I tired to leave things a bit vague, so things could be worked out.

Luke and his team began to walk through the corridors of the deserted Tiger Shark, all the crew was hidden away in the Cargo Bays except for the other team Luke was supposed to be competing against. The dark of the ship made it almost impossible to see anything beyond a foot in front of them and the flashing Red Alert hindered things rather than helped them. More than once Luke felt his foot connect with something that was not the floor but he carried on, ignoring the fear that was beginning to grow. "It's all mind games." He muttered. They walked a little further and arrived at a darkened Turbolift. "I can get it going again." Max said, wedging open the doors and climbing in. He ripped off the control panel and fiddled about a bit. There was a flash of light and the Turbolift came back online. "Going up." He said smiling. The team climbed in and Turbolift began the ascent to the Main Bridge. Luke decided that this was the best option, they might find something that could help them locate Rye and the ship's children. He would never forgive himself if anything ever happened to them... Main Bridge Seated in a circle on the floor of the Bridge were twelve from the crew of Orlinis. They held hands and slowly chanted in time, taking alternate breaths and swaying in time with the hypnotic chant they caused.
In their thoughts they saw Luke and his team ride the Turbolift and it's destination. They saw there immediate goal and then their ultimate goal... Earth. The bright shining jewel they had originally come from. It would soon be theirs again, whether they took it by force or not.
The Turbolift came closer to the Bridge and one of Orlinis' crew stood to his feet, hands still clasped with the others.
"STOP!" He yelled over the top of the chanting, he sat down suddenly and as he did the Turbolift began to plummet through the decks...Turbolift "What the hell?!" Luke yelled as the Turbolift's lights flickered off. It grounded to a halt and then began to move again, slowly at first but then picking up speed. "We're going down!" Max yelled. Luke knew that if the Turbolift didn't stop then they would most certainly meet their deaths. They were running out of time... and decks...

Kirk felt a sinking feeling as the turbo lift began to speed toward the bottom of the ship. Guessing by the G-forces Kirk thought this lift is going to smash it's way through the bottom of the ship. Grabbing onto the side handrail of the lift Kirk began to access the console in front of him.
Nothing! Kirk thought as he pressed several buttons on the console with out getting a single response.
"This console cannot be dead, there should still be power to it!" Kirk yelled over the whiling sounds of the turbo lift rushing toward the bottom of the ship.
It seemed that the other two men in the turbo lift were running out of ideas, nothing in the turbo lift worked and the communication system had been shut down a long time ago. Kirk could only think about one thing that might work a site to site transport. Kirk remembered he was still linked with the computer in astrometrics and began to quickly access a map of the area they were in to get a safe place to transport in. If he failed they might end up materializing inside a wall or worst yet, outside in the cold dead of space.
“Hold on!” Kirk said grabbing a hold of the two men.
Closing his eyes Kirk began to concentrate as hard as he could on what needed to be done. He began to sweat as all the energy stored with in his body was being forced into a single system that has remained dormant since returning to humanity. Max and Dowding watched as instantly a green glow surrounded the three of them.
The sound of the crashing turbo lift rumbled through out the ship. The force of the impact was more than the internal stabilizers could handle and the Tiger Shark shook in space after the impact of the turbo lift at the bottom of the shaft.
Commander Dowding and Commander Max found themselves unharmed, standing on the second to last deck of the ship. Kirk was still grasping onto their jackets firmly as they materialized just in front of the turbo lift doors. Kirk collapsed due to the stress of the site to site transport. He had used all the available energy he had to remove the three of them from danger and was now in desperate need of regeneration.
“Did we make it?” Kirk weakly asked lying down in the middle of the corridor.

Luke's head was spinning... One minute they were in the Turbolift and the next...
"Did we make it?" Kirk asked from a heap on the floor.
Luke groaned and stood to his feet. "Do you mind telling me what just happened there Lieutenant?" He asked.
<TAG Kirk>
"Bloody technology..." Max muttered but Luke wasn't listening.
"There's only three of us." He said.
Kirk and Max joined Luke standing up and then realised what he meant.
"Ikar, Lamos..." Luke paused.
<TAG Kirk>
Luke shook his head. "How many lives are we to lose to these games?!" He exclaimed. He paused and took a deep steadying breath. "Come on, we need to find out what deck we're on and take it from there."

Rye watched in horror as John ran towards him. As he was about 10 meters away, the time ran out. Rye saw a white flash of light, and everything was gone; the arena, the crew, and fortunately the scorpions. Rye saw a conduit appear in front of him. He did not have time to identify it however, because he passed out before he was fully materialized.
Rye opened his eyes, and saw abright light flashing in front of his eyes. He turned his head, and saw a door label.
”AWP - 31Ã . I’m in the Aft Weapons Pod. How did I get here?”
Rye sat in the aft weapons pod alone, and bored. He had no idea how he had gotten there, or what events had happened before that. His combadge was gone, and the internal comm system. Rye was helpless, and now he had to wait for rescue, but how would his crewmates find him?

"Do you mind telling me what just happened there Lieutenant?"
“I was able to use an internal transporter that still resides with in my body to get us out of the turbo lift.” Kirk said now leaning against the wall.
"Ikar, Lamos..." Luke paused.
“What about them?” Kirk asked a bit lost.
“Lieutenant those two men were in the turbo lift with us.” Dowding said
“Everything happened so fast, I did not see them. What have I done?” Kirk said looking hysterically sound the corridor they were now in.
“Snap out of it Lieutenant.” Dowding said aggressively
Kirk shook his head and looked up at the first officer, “Yes sir, sorry sir.”
Luke shook his head. "How many lives are we to lose to these games?!" He exclaimed. He paused and took a deep steadying breath. "Come on, we need to find out what deck we're on and take it from there."
Commander Dowding lowered his hand; Kirk took it and was pulled to his feet by Commander Dowding. Once Kirk was on his feet it took him a moment to re-orient himself as the strain of the transport was more than he had expected it to be.
“Are there any other teams looking through out the ship as we are?” Kirk asked.

Luke paused...
"I think Orlinis pitched half of the crew against us, almost as if we were in teams."
Suddenly the Tiger Shark rocked violently, sending the three officers sliding across the corridor.
"Someone's taken the inertial dampeners offline!" Luke said frowning... "That must mean we're moving somewhere."
"Crap!" Max yelled as a phaser blast shot past his head.
"What on earth?!" Luke yelled as the sound of more fire came their way.
"It's Starfleet fire Luke!" Max yelled as another shot narrowly missed his head.
"We've got to move, we can wonder what is going on when we have cover."
The three officers set off at a brisk jog and soon the sound of phaser fire was left behind them.
"Odd..." Luke said. "If they were firing at us then why didn't they follow?"
"Well if they weren't firing at us, who were they firing at?" Max asked.
Luke turned to Kirk.
"Lieutenant, what can your optical implant do?" He asked.

"Lieutenant, what can your optical implant do?" Dowding asked.
"It can be adjusted to see in a variety of wave lengths, IR, night vision, recently I have been able to view ships consoles in a picture in picture deal if I am connected to a particular console," Kirk said pausing to breath, "It really all depends on what you want, from there I can see if it can do it."
Kirk looked at Commander Dowding with curiocity, it seemed the First Officer was cooking up a plan and Kirk was eager to hear it. Before Dowding couldl respond to Kirk's comments about the abilities of his occular implant Kirk offered up a suggestion.
"I could lock onto human bio signs and using sensors on the ship I could use a cross section map of the ship to locate our mission children and crew members. The problem is that we need access to a station I can tap into."

Luke smiled. The young officer had practically read his mind.
"We better find you a console then Lieutenant." He replied simply.
Max sighed and sat down on the floor. Luke approached him and knelt down.
"We never seem to get a rest do we?" He asked.
Luke patted his friend on the shoulder. "Nope..." Luke paused and thought. "I think after this we deserve some well earned Shoreleave."
"That sounds more like it." Max said. "Risa." He added.
Luke laughed. "Sounds like a plan." He said standing to his feet and offering Max his hand to help him up.
"I hear they have no bar." Max said dusting himself off. "It's in the central complex... apparantly very classy."
Luke couldn't help but laugh again. Kirk approached the two officers and Luke realised that this wasn't the time or place. He immediately snapped back to being the FO and not the friend.
Luke opened his mouth to ask Kirk if he needed a particular station to work from but before he could speak Max raised his arm to silence them all.
"What's that noise?" He asked suspiciously.
"It sounds like growling." Luke whispered, straining to hear.
"Growling?" Kirk questioned. "What could be growling on a Starship?"
His question was soon answered when an enormous beast rounded the cornerd to where the three officers were standing. Saliva dripping from its teeth and enormous hackles raised.
"What the..." Luke started.
"Not the time!" Max interupted. "RUN!"

“Because the trees told me so,” T’Brel said.
"Because the trees told you?" she asked, her eyebrows raising. "Are you feeling alright?"
"Yes, I'm feeling alright," he said rather annoyed. "I know that it's difficult to believe but it is the truth!"
"How did it go, Lieutenant?" Keztrek asked, coming over.
"I found something in the room I saw earlier," he began, "in it where..."
J'Leera glance toward the door. There were footsteps quickly approaching becoming louder with each step. "There must have heard you or you set off an alarm," she said just before the guards appeared the doorway. The guards quickly surrounded them and lead them into another room.
The biggest one glared at T'Brel and over at J'Leera. "We know what you have been up to and this will not be tolerated," he said to T'Brel. "And for that you must be punished."
"Do what you want to me, but I'll never give up trying to get out of here," he said. "What you are doing to us is wrong and completely unethical. I would think that an advanced species such as yourselves would understand that."
"Oh, but we're not going to punish you," he smiled. "We find it much more effective to punish others instead," he nodded to the other guards and they stepped forward. T'Brel's eyes followed them carefully wondering what was going to happen. The guards continued and took J'Leera, pulling her out into the hallway.
"What are you doing?" he protested.
"Unhand her immediately!" Keztrek demanded. "You will not teat my officers in such a manner! If anyone is to be punished, it should be me because I am responsible for them."
The guard paused for a moment, but turned and left dragging J'Leera along, ignoring everyone's protests. They walked along for a while before turning into a small room that seemed quite empty at first, but then she saw Illian sitting in the corner once her eyes adjusted to the low lighting.
"My people prefer twilight," he explained. "That's why it's so dark in here."
J'Leera looked up and was surprised to see a display of the night sky on the ceiling. The stars were perfect and they looked real. She could easily imagine that she was sitting outside looking up at them instead of being inside a ship. "Your people love the stars, don't they?"
Illian nodded. "It was the first thing my ancestors saw when they first awoke, those many millenia ago before the sun and moon were made."
"A legend of your people?" she asked.
"No, not legend, but history," he shook his head.
J'Leera's curiousity wanted to know more, but she couldn't forget the others and her coming punishment that the guards threatened. "Why am I here, exactly?"
"You are not like the others," he said. "You look like them, but clearly you are not from Earth."
"I come from a planet called New Fabrina," she said and then gave a brief history of how her people left their original homeworld after the sun had gone supernova and how they left in a great ship to look for a new world."
"Ah," he nodded. "You are a scientist, correct?" She nodded. "So, you should recognize this star," he pointed upward.
J'Leera looked up and saw that he pointed at a brilliant star in the eastern sky. "That's not a star though, but rather a planet."
"What do you call it?" he asked.
"Venus," she answered.
"And that's what it's called now on Earth?" J'Leera nodded and he shook his head. "That's not what we called it. It was named after a mariner who carried one of the sacred jewels of Feanor. I suppose though that Men have forgotten it."
J'Leera's eyes widened in surprise. She knew exactly what he was talking about.

Meanwhile, back in their room, T'Brel was pacing the floor wondering what sort of terrible things were happening to her. "I should have insisted that I go in her place. How could I have been so careless?"
"Commander Laika has been trained to deal with these situations, she will remember her training," Keztrek said.
Suddenly the door opened and J'Leera walked through. "I thought that you were being punished!" he exclaimed.
"No," she shook her head. "They only wanted you to think that." She turned toward Keztrek. "I've learned more about our captors, Admiral," she reported.
