Zarok began to speak in response to Thalin, his logical, drawn out voice becoming apparent over the comlink, "Shuttlecraft Axarxis, you are cleared to return to the USS Excalibur."
With that the tired impulse engines of the Federation shuttle again grew lit, pushing forwards towards the Constitution class marvel of engineering. Sliding through the bay doors as the controls were taken from him by the computer, the tiny vessel was dwarfed by the hundreds of meters long Exaclibur. Touching down again to place metal against metal, the door slid open in it's usual manner.
The Andorian, rather shaken up, took a few moments to exit the craft, shaking his white hair from his eyes so that he might be able to see better. Standing erect, he allowed the bay personnel to again regain control of the fate of the craft as black clad legs would take him into the lift.
Moving laterally as much as vertically, the internal vehicle made it to level on which Mann was also. Exiting, the Andorian made it behind the Doctor, whom he was sure would be furious with him.
Raising an eyebrow, he nodded, "Doctor, I believe you need not look far."

Given her own age issues, Aly noted Mira's slight slip but didn't say anything. Then Mira started to shiver and bolted for sickbay promising to be back on the bridge shortly.
Aly was worried about the younger woman but guessed that Mira would not appreciate her help. She finished off her meal in silence and then went back to the bridge. She relieved Lieutenant Andrews, her senior assistant, and settled back at the comms station. A light flickered at her indicating and incoming transmission. She opened the comm link.
"USS Excalibur, come in. This is shuttlecraft Axarxis." Aly's heart flipped, no one had told her that a shuttle had been launched and more to the point it was Thalin's voice on the comm. It seemed the science officer had regained the use of his voice. She broke into a full smile as the shuttle was cleared to return to Excalibur.
Aly checked over the data from the first diagnostic on the newly uploaded translation matrix. To her intense annoyed there was all ready damage to the matrix. She glanced across at the Captain and restrained her favourite Klingon curses. She thought them instead and mentally translating them into other languages until she had calmed down enough to think.
She looked at the damage and then at an image of the original matrix. It was the same areas damaged. There was more intelligence here than she had thought.
She sent an interrogative on low power to one of the damaged areas setting up a pulsed signal.

Mira lay limp on the biobed for a while, as the new chief medical officer tended to her. Nurses had covered her in thermal blankets to get her warm, and she was starting to feel better as a result. After several minutes, she brought herself up into a sitting position, glancing around sickbay in disgust. ~so clean, so fragile~ she thought as she rose to her feet.
A nurse approached her, telling her to get back onto the bed as the doctor wasn't done with his tests yet. "I'm fine," Mira reassured her, "I'll be on the bridge. I got a ship to pilot I think."
Suppressed, the actual Mira watched on in horror as whoever possessed her impersonated her. There was, however nothing she could do, the alien was in full control of her body, and mind.
Smiling, Mira walked out of sickbay and stepped into the lift. Gripping the handle, she twisted it partways and glanced at the closing doors. "Bridge," she ordered, keeping hold of the handle. When the lift arrived at its destination, she let go and stepped out when the doors opened.
Her smile brightened when she saw John Mann casting her a relieved smile. It vanished, however, when she spotted Zarath. She walked over to the Andorian, tapping his shoulder when she came to a stop beside him. "Commander Zarath, could I have a word in private please?" She glanced over to Santos. "Captain could we use your office? It is important and private."
At Santos' confused nod, Mira motioned for the Andorian to follow her. Antennae twitching, Zarath followed her to Santos' small office. "You're on to something in your research," Mira started, positively glaring at the Andorian, "something about the nebula, that you shouldn't have discovered. I'm afraid I'm going to have to eliminate you now."
From her sleeve, Mira drew a small type I phaser and aimed it at Zarath. "I'm truly sorry," she said, as she pressed the button on the top of the weapon. A bright blue beam emitted from the front, striking the Andorian full in his chest. "Computer, site to site transport. One to transport, lock on to the phaser, beam to cargo hold two." She tossed the phaser onto Zarath's body. "Energise then erase transporter log."
After Zarath's body had disappeared from the room, Mira fell to her knees and sobbed uncontrolleably for several minutes.
ooc: with Zarath's permission. note: he's not dead and the actual mira will remember having shot him, but not why.

She walked over to the Andorian, tapping his shoulder when she came to a stop beside him. "Commander Zarath, could I have a word in private please?" She glanced over to Santos. "Captain could we use your office? It is important and private."
The Andorian nodded, tilting his head to her, "I would love to have a word with you. I am sure that your insight would be quite valuable to me and to the mission." Zarath had a good bit of respect for her, ever after the training that she had preformed at his side a few months ago.
He walked back slowly, stepping back with his hands raised, "Now, Master Chief, do not do anything that you would nto later regret! I bed you, let us discuss this as rational beings. You needn't harm me in any way. I had no idea that you were involved in the capture of that bubble in time...."
His words were cut off with the power of the beam, his legs soon collapsing him to the floor.
"Computer, site to site transport. One to transport, lock on to the phaser, beam to cargo hold two." She tossed the phaser onto Zarath's body. "Energise then erase transporter log."
Rubbing his head, and checking that both of his antennae were still there, he slowly stood up, finding him unable to fully stand. Phaser stunning was certainly not a pleasant process, even if it was seldom a deadly one. Finally able to stand up after what seemed like an eternity on the ground, he grasped the communicator at his side. It was fused together from the heat and therefore wholly useless.
And with that he noted that the door was locked.

The signal returned to Aly's station 180 degrees out of phase, clearly it had been absorbed and re-emitted. She broke into a large grin and looked around for the CScO. Thalin was not on the bridge. She sighed and sent a message over the comm. There was no response.
Letting Ensign Wilkins take over at her station Aly hurried to the Captain's office, she pressed the door chime. She received no answer. Now thoroughly rattled she opened the door, she was unsure of what she would see, the side effect of an active imagination.
In the middle of the room on her knees and sobbing was Mira, there was no sign of Thalin. A surge of paternal caring washed through Alyana: this was possibly not the best time to remember that Ryat's previous two hosts had both had daughters, but there wasn't a lot she could do about that now.
She knelt at Mira's side and lay her hand on the younger woman's shoulder.
"Are you all right?" she asked softly

Mira sat up, allowing the Trill to help her to her feet. "I think so," she answered. Bewildered, she looked around with a look of horror on her face. "Where is Commander Zarath?" she asked, "he was here just seconds ago."
She preceded Ryat to the desk. "Computer, show transporter log of the last ten minutes."
=^= Working. Transporter log is empty.=^=
"He didn't beam out then? But how..." Mira glanced up at Ryat. "I don't understand." Realisation dawned on her soon enough though, with the entity showing her exactly what she'd done. "Oh no...ma'am you must warn security at once."
She winced as the entity gave her a silent warning not to continue. "Zarath disappeared from this office, something must've happened to him...and me? I honestly don't remember when or how he left."
Mira had no idea how to explain her earlier crying fit to the Trill, but she had to get away from her lest she hurt her too. "Please, find him."

The Andorian tried to examine the bay, but found that he had needed to lay down - an intense amount of vertigo had overcome him through the injuries incurred - in fact, he was almost certain that he had acquired a concussion in the fall from his stunning.
His legs began to pace slowly against the deckplates as his gait turned into a march from end to end, with an ever decreasing grave tempo. It would seem that until he was discovered once again, there would be no way for him to escape this virtual prison.
Examining the sidewall computer consoles, he noted that there was little that he could do - even as an officer, this sort of thing was not his usual domain. Therefore, his own access codes did little to allow him dominion over this area of the vessel. It would seem that he had little to do besides waiting.
Looking up to the ceiling, his antennae seemed to stick close to white hair in a fashion that was atypical for many Andorians. With this upward gaze he slowly willed his mouth to move, requesting assistance. "Computer, please get me the bridge."
His request would be followed with the electronic sound of a boatswain's call.
"To..anyone who might hear this, this is...Zarath...I request immediate assistance in the cargo area..."

"I think so," Mira answered."Where is Commander Zarath?. He was here just seconds ago."
She seemed very upset, Aly had no idea what had gone on before her arrival, certainly she had not seen Thalin in the corridor and the office didn't have anywhere he could hide. Mira went to the desk.
"Computer, show transporter log of the last ten minutes."
=^= Working. Transporter log is empty.=^=
Now that did make things a bit more of a puzzle "He didn't beam out then? But how..." Mira glanced up at Ryat. "I don't understand." A wave of emotion washed across Mira's face and her eyes widened in shock or possibly horror "Oh no...ma'am you must warn security at once."
She fell silent for a moment. A missing member of crew was certainly reason to call security but Aly had a nagging feeling that that wasn't what Mira was talking about.
"Zarath disappeared from this office, something must've happened to him...and me? I honestly don't remember when or how he left."
"Please, find him." Aly nodded and wrapped an arm around Mira who was shivering.
"It shouldn't be too hard to track down an Andorian lifesign," Aly did her best to reassure her.
She opened a comm link to the bridge. "This is Lieutenant Ryat, I'm not sure what happened here, Commander Zarath is missing and Chief Green seems to be in shock."
Aly looked at Mira "I'm no doctor but I think we should get you to sickbay, memory loss is not a good thing. Come on." She hope she was not being patronising as she ushered the younger woman towards the door.

Things were clearly not going well and there was nothing Ephrem could do to make it better. His crew was already working double shifts to find the solution to their current problems. With Mira's collapse only a few hours ago, Ephrem's nervse were reaching their limit.
"This is Lieutenant Ryat, I'm not sure what happened here, Commander Zarath is missing and Chief Green seems to be in shock."
"What the hell is happening here?" Ephrem said clearly angry," Lieutenant please get Mira to sickbay and then join report back to the bridge."
(Ryat)
"John, please take the science station and begin scanning for an Andorian lifesign," Ephrem ordered as he manned the tactical station.
"Captain that will not be necessary," Barbara said as she activated the comm.
"To..anyone who might hear this, this is...Zarath...I request immediate assistance in the cargo area..."
"Mr. Zarath, are you hurt?" Ephrem asked.
(Thalin)
"I'll be there shortly," Ephrem said as he motioned for John to accompany him. "Please bring a medkit."
(John)
Ephrem's brisk pace made him appear to be running, but he didn't care. Zarath would be able to tell him who did this to him and get this over with. As they entered the cargo bay, Ephrem quickly freed his officer.
"John, is he alright?" Ephrem asked as he looked at phaser burn on his uniform.
(John)
"Mr. Zarath, who did this to you?" Ephrem asked.

"Aye, sir" Aly replied, finding herself becoming very formal in the face of the Captain's anger.
"Shall we go then," she said to Mira. In honesty she wasn't expecting an answer; Mira was obviously in shock and was shaky on her feet. With some difficulty Aly arranged them so that Mira had one arm around her shoulders and she had one arm around Mira's waist. Together they headed towards sickbay, Aly only hoped she could remember the way.

"Mr. Zarath, are you hurt?" Ephrem asked.
The Andorian maintained his upward gaze, struggling to continue his efforts at communications with the remainder of the vessel. "Sir, I have been phaser stunned by Mira. As an Andorian I am able to control my anaphletic attributes, though I will need medical attention when it is able to be offered unto me."
With a bit of a cough, possibly due to the amount of fluid that would have caught up with him as he was unconsious. Sighing softly, he shook his head, "Doctor, I believe that it is best that I should return to sickbay, despite having been there quite a bit as of late. I apologize that I am not able to commit myself to my duties as much as is required of me."
"It is as the Earth poet Shakespeare had said...Every day I look at the sun, and yet I feel no warmth."
Furrowing himself, he arose slowly to slightly lean on Ephrem as to stablize himself. "Again, I apologize for this measure just as equally. I do not wish to touch you if you do not wish to be. However..it is out of a manner of necessity. I understand that humans place a large emphasis on personal space that we simply do not posses on Andor."

Still in a daze, Mira allowed herself to be pulled to her feet and lead to sickbay. She never saw the corridors they passed or the people that stopped to clear the way for them. All she could think of was that she had shot a superior officer without good cause.
The entity had briefly retreated to a small part of her mind, enjoying the hurt it was causing, both to its host and the others around the host. Now, it thought it was time to act again and it moved to possesed the host's mind again.
Mira woke from her daze and glanced up at the other woman, a strange light in her eyes. It was almost as if they glowed slightly red when she looked up at Ryat. "Where are you taking me," she hissed, pressing the woman against the bulkhead. When the woman didn't respond, she threw her against the opposite bulkhead. The woman slid down and lay on the deck, unmoving.
Shrugging, Mira continued down the corridor on her own, not looking back at the woman. She had tasks to perform, even though she wasn't sure where she was being led. The glow in her eyes intensified as the creature grew stronger. The woman was losing the battle of wills, and it had to act fast before it'd lose the host.

Aly and Mira were on their way to sickbay. Suddenly Mira staggered and stiffened. She turned and glared at Aly, the younger woman's eyes had taken on an eerie redish glow. Aly found herself pressed again the bulkhead.
"Where are you taking me," Mira hissed. Aly was pretty sure that it wasn't Mira talking, she said nothing in response.
She suddenly found herself more or less airborne and flying across the corridor. There was a 'thunk' as her head struck the wall and that was the last thing she knew for sometime.
Aly awoke to find herself lying slumped in the corridor, her head hurt but she doubted there was any seriously damage or she wouldn't have come round. Not having any intention of going to sickbay she pulled herself somewhat shakily to her feet and contacted the bridge.
=/\=Bridge this is Lieutenant Ryat, I believe something is possessing Chief Green.=/\= Aly swallowed and struggled to make her sentences coherent. 23 languages didn't help now. =/\=We were on our way to sickbay when she knocked me out. I don't know where she is now.=/\=

"I'll be there shortly," Ephrem said as he motioned for John to accompany him. "Please bring a medkit."
"Of course," replied John, glad to finally be doing something familiar.
Ephrem's brisk pace made him appear to be running, forcing John to hurry his steps as well. As they entered the cargo bay Ephrem quickly freed his officer.
"John, is he alright?" Ephrem asked as he looked at phaser burn on his uniform.
"Looks like a heavy stun," replied John, opening the medical kit. "Please hold still for a moment, Mr. Zarath. You'll be fine in a moment."
Sighing softly, Zarath shook his head, "Doctor, I believe that it is best that I should return to sickbay, despite having been there quite a bit as of late. I apologize that I am not able to commit myself to my duties as much as is required of me. It is as the Earth poet Shakespeare had said...Every day I look at the sun, and yet I feel no warmth."
John was pleased to be called a doctor again. "I might not be the CMO anymore, but I'm sure Sickbay can get you on your feet again very quickly. Your pupils indicate that you may have had a slight concussion. That will take a couple minutes to alleviate."
Furrowing himself, Zarath arose slowly to slightly lean on Ephrem as to stabilize himself. "Again, I apologize for this measure just as equally. I do not wish to touch you if you do not wish to be. However..it is out of a manner of necessity. I understand that humans place a large emphasis on personal space that we simply do not posses on Andor."
Ephrem laughed. "No problem."
The trio were almost to Sickbay when Barbara made an announcement over the shipwide comm. =^= Captain to the Bridge, please. Captain to the Bridge. =^=
John exchanged a worried look with Ephrem before the Captain turned back the way they had come. Once Zarath was in Sickbay, John paused. Zarath had to be attended to, Dr. Ryan was busy with his entire staff cleaning up the mess, and now something else was going wrong.
Nurse Byrd seemed to materialize out of nowhere. "Mr. Zarath most likely has a slight concussion," said John. "Please attend to him and report back to me when you believe he is fit to be released. I need to report back to the Bridge." He called out to Ryan as he departed. "Get that mess cleaned up, doctor!"
Outside Sickbay, John ran into the Trill, Ryat. He didn't know her very well, but she seemed as surprised to see him as he was to see her. "Shouldn't you be on the Bridge?" asked John, not in an accusing tone but rather in a confused one.

Aly was slowly making her way back towards the bridge. Her head still hurt and it was an effort to make herself focus.
"Shouldn't you be on the Bridge?" asked John Aly turned and was slightly surprised to see Lieutenant Mann, it seemed he was also surprised to see her.
"I was taking Mira to sickbay but..." Aly paused again this wasn't easy to say. "She is not herself, I think she's possessed. She knocked me out and I don't know where she's gone now. I'm worried."
Tag: John
They idea of possession made Aly very nervous, she'd seen it back home, occasionally (after trauma) a past host's personality could over power the current one. This was no where near as benign though.

"Looks like a heavy stun," replied John, opening the medical kit. "Please hold still for a moment, Mr. Zarath. You'll be fine in a moment."
The Andorian shivered, shaking his head at the medical procedure. He, as with most people, whether they wished to admit it or not, had a bit of a fear of all things surgical. Despite the view that men of science have nothing to fear, he certainly lived in fear of a hypospray.
John was pleased to be called a doctor again. "I might not be the CMO anymore, but I'm sure Sickbay can get you on your feet again very quickly. Your pupils indicate that you may have had a slight concussion. That will take a couple minutes to alleviate."
"I understand that a concussion can be fairly serious. I would rather not risk anything, and I trust your words of praise towards sickbay to be non-partial. However, I am also equally as assured that it can no longer run at it's former high standard without your guidance toward it." Punctuating that statement was a weak smile from Zarath - considering his condition, it hurt a bit to make basic expressions.
The trio were almost to Sickbay when Barbara made an announcement over the shipwide comm. =^= Captain to the Bridge, please. Captain to the Bridge. =^=
The Andorian frowned in a particularly concerned fashion, despite the pain that went along with expressing that sadness. Shaking his head, he looked towards the physician, "You know, sir, that can never be a very good sign of clear sailing.."
Nurse Byrd seemed to materialize out of nowhere. "Mr. Zarath most likely has a slight concussion," said John. "Please attend to him and report back to me when you believe he is fit to be released. I need to report back to the Bridge."
The Andorian sighed, "If I am unable to be released soon enough, please allow me to continue my duties from beside. I am sure that I should be able to tie a console into the main computer system - there should be no trouble at all with that, correct?"

=^= Captain to the Bridge, please. Captain to the Bridge. =^=
=^=Santos here, what is it Barbara=^= =^=Sir we just received this from Lieutenant Ryat=^=
The message played quickly, but Barbara had enough sense to play it again. Alien possession was something that they all had dealt with before but Ephrem couldn't think of any situation where any of them could have been taken.
=^=All security teams you are hereby ordered to find Chief Green and bring her to sickbay. You are authorized to use any non-lethal methods to accomplish this=^=
"John, I think Mira is being possessed by the substance that escaped from sickbay," Ephrem said," right now Mira is dangerous. She has already attacked two officers..... we need to find her before she kills anyone."

"That is up to Doctor Ryan," Ephrem said looking at the Andorian," I'm sending a security team here."
"This is a place of healing, not an armory," Doctor Ryan objected.
"We don't know what this thing is after," Ephrem said," it might come back here and I want you protected and that's final. John I need you to lead a security team and get Lt. Ryat to help you out after she's checked out by Doctor Ryan. I'll coordinate from the bridge."

"Possessed?" asked John in a skeptical tone. "I-" he cut himself off. Ryat seemed like a sensible officer. As odd as her story sounded, John knew that something had to be wrong with Mira
=^= John, I think Mira is being possessed by the substance that escaped from sickbay. Right now Mira is dangerous. She has already attacked two officers..... we need to find her before she kills anyone. =^=
The acting first officer made a sour face. Possession was a fantasy. Mira might be in serious trouble, and it didn't matter exactly what that trouble was - John was going to help her. But possession? It would be bad for morale if the crew started hearing rumors about possessed chief petty officers. "Let's get to Sickbay," John said to Ryat.
The two officers entered Sickbay as Ephrem exited. "Captain, I... at least let me try and talk some sense into Mira before anyone starts shooting. I'm sure she'll listen to me."
"You should know as well as anyone else, doctor," said Dr. Ryan with an emphasis on the title, "that Green won't respond to you any differently than she would another if she is no longer in control of her actions."
"There isn't enough evidence to confirm that!" snapped John.

"Stop it! Both of you," Ephrem said angrily," you are both Starfleet officers, act like it."
(John)
"John, we both that Mira wouldn't do anything to harm any of us," Ephrem said a bit more calmly," the fact that she has attacked two crewmen tells me that something is very wrong with her. I don't like it, but I'll give you some leeway on this."
(John)
"Doctor Ryan, I presume you still have a few samples of that substance?" Ephrem asked.
"Yes sir, why do you ask?" Ryan sneered.
"I want you to examine it more closely, if Mira is possessed I want a way to neutralize it," Ephrem said and promptly left sickbay.

For some odd reason, Mira suddenly found herself walking into engineering. She tried to fight whatever possessed her but it was growing stronger by the minute and her whole being was being pushed back to a far corner of her own mind, forced to watch it make her hurt her friends.
What made it worse that the entity knew her, only too well apparently for it reacted to people exactly as she would've, but the entity only hurt them before making her turn her back on them. Inside her own mind, Mira was screaming in rage and helplessness. Occasionally, it would allow her to resurface and she was immersed with grief.
What she needed to do in engineering was unclear but the entity forced her to one of the bright red consoles. She saw her hand reach up and tap in a certain sequence of buttons. She felt the ship's deckplates shudder under her feet, then felt the ship lurch as if it made a sharp turn in either direction. She had no idea what the blinking lights before her meant, but she was certain it meant nothing good.
The teenager left sickbay and headed back to the torpedo launch bay. Inside herself, Mira cringed and shivered with fear. She didn't want to go there, she wanted to go to her quarters. At last, she won this small victory as the creature steered her body towards her own quarters and allowed her to slump onto her bed. There, she cried herself to sleep.

Aly and John walked into sickbay where they met up with the Captain. Aly's head had stopped aching now and she wasn't exactly keen to be examined.
John and Dr Ryan had a slightly heated debate, Aly did her best to stay out of the way. She remembered John saying that he was a medical officer so presumably Ryan was his sucessor...
"We don't know what this thing is after," Ephrem said," it might come back here and I want you protected and that's final. John I need you to lead a security team and get Lt. Ryat to help you out after she's checked out by Doctor Ryan. I'll coordinate from the bridge."
"Aye, sir." Aly said. The Captain left the sickbay and Dr Ryan turned towards Aly, who swallowed hard.
"I'm all right now, no head ache, no blurred vision....." her words came out in a tumble. "I promise I'll be back if I have any problems. We have to find Mira before she does any further damage...."
Aly scuttled out of sickbay with John at her side he seemed a bit puzzled by her behaviour but Aly carried on talking before he could ask questions she didn't want to answer.
"You know Mira better than me. If she wanted to hide, where would she go?" John looked a little confused. "If something has taken Mira over then..." she paused and tried to work out if he was following what she was saying. This wasn't something people tended to know much about. "Mira isn't acting like herselfbut she's still Mira, that's all we have to go on..."

A few hours later, Mira awoke but she didn't feel any better than before. Watching her own reflection in the bathroom mirror, the teenager gasped at her appearance. Her eyes were shining bright red and they were red-rimmed. It made her coppery hair appear even redder and she didn't like what she was seeing.
She washed her face several times, but the redness wouldn't disappear and her eyes didn't return to their normal colour. Sighing, she changed into a clean uniform and headed towards the door. There she stopped dead in her tracks; how was she going to face the captain?
By now, surely he knew it was she who had attacked Zarath? And surely Ryat had reported the assault on her? Mira shivered, wrapping her arms across her chest, tears once again streaming down her face. It was then that the entity took full possession of her again and forced her to leave her quarters.
Hiding now and then in the crawlways, Mira found her way to engineering without being caught. There, she disabled the warp engines, knowing it would take hours to restart them, even coldstart them would take a while. For now, they wouldn't be leaving the viscinity of the nebula. Then, using the same technique, the girl found her way to sickbay and broke into the medications cabinet, stealing several stimulants.
High on the stimulants, Mira crawled back to her quarters, her heart racing as she did so while trying not to get caught. She didn't understand why she was forced to do this and the entity wasn't giving her any explanations. Under her tunic, she still carried her small phaser but she tried not to think about its presence, fearing what she might do or who she might hurt next.
She knew, however, that John was bound to come by her quarters sooner or later. As he always did when she was feeling unwell, but how was she going to convince him to stay away from her for now? She didn't want to hurt his feelings, nor did she want to hurt him, period. She gnawed on her sleeve in frustration as she sat on her bed, breathing heavily. The stimulants weren't just keeping her wide awake, they sent her entire body into overdrive.

"Stop it! Both of you," Ephrem said angrily," you are both Starfleet officers, act like it."
"Sir," replied John stiffly, still glaring daggers at the other doctor.
"John, we both that Mira wouldn't do anything to harm any of us," Ephrem said a bit more calmly," the fact that she has attacked two crewmen tells me that something is very wrong with her. I don't like it, but I'll give you some leeway on this."
The acting first officer bowed his head. "Thank you, Captain."
Exchanging looks of mutual hatred, Ryan turned away to attend to Lt. Ryat.
"I'm all right now, no head ache, no blurred vision....." Ryat's words came out in a tumble. "I promise I'll be back if I have any problems. We have to find Mira before she does any further damage...."
John wondered how Ryat was handling the tension between officers. She seemed to be doing fine, as she was the first to speak.
"You know Mira better than me. If she wanted to hide, where would she go?" John looked a little confused. "If something has taken Mira over then..." she paused and tried to work out if he was following what she was saying. This wasn't something people tended to know much about. "Mira isn't acting like herself but she's still Mira, that's all we have to go on..."
"I'd guess that she's in her quarters," shrugged John. "Of course, if she's not herself I don't know where she is, but we might as well start there."
Several engineers rushed past, and John's party flattened themselves against the wall in an effort to get out of the way. "What's going on?" asked John.
"Warp core's gone offline," shouted a passing engineer.
John doubted it was Mira's fault. The team continued on at a brisk pace to her quarters. There was no answer, and John entered with Ryat following closely. The rest of the security team remained outside.
"She's not here," muttered John. "But she will be. Lieutenant Ryat, take the security team and check engineering, the docking bay, anywhere that is important. Either Mira will already be at another location or she will return here. I'll check my quarters and transporter room one before returning here. If you fail to find her, meet back with me in Sickbay and we'll see if Dr. Ryan has made any progress."
(Alyana)
After checking his own quarters and the transporter room without success, John made his way back to Mira's quarters. He knocked on the door, and was surprised to hear a reply. John entered the room and saw Mira sitting on her bed. He hesitated before speaking. "Mira... are you alright? Do you need to talk?"

The Andorian exhaled softly, rather pleased that he was able to resume his station, even in spite of the current rigormoral regarding Mira. Slowly approaching the turbolift, Zarath caught glance of a nearby operations terminal. With what readouts he could see, he felt rather powerless to solve the recent problems regarding the warp drive. Thankfully, he thought, we had taken on a few engineers in our last outfitting.
As he entered the turbolift, Thalin leaned towards the intercom, and was greeted with the familiar, electronic sound of a boatswain's whistle. "Captain, I have a theory I would like to discuss with you. I should be able to meet with you in a moment."
As he arrived at Ephrem's quarters, where he had gone to check for Mira as Zarath would have predicted, the Andorian met with the Captain as he left he aforementioned chamber. "Sir, I will walk with you so as not to delay you. If you do not mind, I wish to share with you something....you of course understand that I was tracing something hidden through time..a few seconds in the future? I suggest that whatever has possessed her is, as was to be predicted, from the race that had hidden the object that I had unearthed. Hense, the attack against my personage."

John's theory was that Mira would return to her quarters and the two of the and the security team hurried there. A lot of engineering staff charged past them. It seemed that the warp core had gone off line. Aly was worried, if someone had wanted to cripple the Excalibur that would be best (or worst) thing to do. Aly was nearly sure that this was Mira's doing.
There was no one home in Mira's quarters. John and Aly carefully check them out.
Aly was worried and slightly puzzled by Lieutenant Mann deciding to check his own quarters, but she didn't say anything. "Aye, sir" She and the security team left heading towards the docking bay. If she was right then Mira had all ready been to engineering so it made sense to look somewhere else.
