She sat up, realizing where she was, and wondered why they had decided to put her in there. She hadn't been hostile, then suddenly she remembered talking to the admiral, but it seemed like a bad dream. She didn't know the difference between these dreams and her waking moments any more. She felt so confused and lost. She heard Smith's voice, and seconds later they were in sickbay again.
She found herself being strapped down to the biobed, and again she was confused. Suddenly she felt sleepy, and everything went black for her.
The thing inside realized what was going on, and tried to use Angel's strength to break the straps. It saw it couldn't do anything, and wondered why this being was so weak. It didn't like being down and out, and wondered what to do next. It decided it was time to suffocate the woman to see if anyone would remove the straps.
Unfortunately they had already started, and it found that control over this being was diminishing. It tried to use everything it had, and suddenly found it wasn't enough. Using up all its energy, and being as old as it was, it suddenly had no more life in it.
Hours later, Angel woke up finding that she was just lying on a biobed. She wanted to question what was going on, and decided it best not to say anything. She felt like part of her was gone, and she felt so alone. She had hoped that no one noticed a few of her implants while she was out, and looked around for the EMH. She found him nearby.
"Oh good, you are awake. Lets see how you are doing." He said and scanned her. It only took a few minutes, and he declared her healthy. She didn't feel healthy, in fact she didn't even feel whole.
"I would like to see the results of that scan, doctor, and the results of any other scans you took of me." She said, realizing she had to protect what she had. She didn't want to be some guinea pig, or be part of a technicological revolution that wasn't to take place for another twenty years.
She saw the scans showed nothing out of the ordinary, and she was relieved. Even while she was sick and sleeping, her body had somehow masked her technicological advances. She was relieved, and went into her office to catch up on some of the many padds that now laid there. She had a lot of work to do, and she wondered where her cadet was. She saw something different in one of the padds there, and noticed he had done a report for her. She smiled, and looked it over.
She handed in his report to the admiral, making sure that the admiral knew it was his. She didn't want to take any of the credit for this, and was glad that things seemed to run smoothly while she was away.
