Observation Deck: 16.00 Hours
Danny and K'ratak were in the Ready Room, about to embark on their first mission briefing as Captain and XO. Danny tucked his uniform shirt in and took a deep breath. It was somehow liberating to be in command for a change, but it was also a feeling that still took some getting used to. He nodded to K'ratak, who returned the nod and they left the Ready Room to cross the Bridge to the Observation Lounge behind it.
Half-way across the Bridge, Danny paused for a moment and looked around. The Ops station was manned by a young Ensign. It was his usual station and it was strange to see it suddenly manned by a young girl with long gold-blonde hair instead of manning it himself. Then he looked towards the Captain's chair, his Captain's chair now. It was Commander K'ratak who brought him back to reality with a soft tap on his shoulder. "Captain, it's time." Danny looked at his XO. "Quite right, Commander, quite right."
Both men proceeded towards the entrance door to the Observation Lounge and K'ratak tapped a button. The door swooshed open almost soundlessly.
As they entered the Observation Lounge, everyone rose. Danny surveyed his crew for a moment and then uttered "at ease."
Everyone sat down again. Commander K'ratak took place on Danny's left. On his right, an as yet unidentified man wearing an Admiral's uniform sat bolt upright. Danny nodded to him in salute. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard the Hepta. Before I continue with the briefing, I would first like to introduce our special guest to you." Danny gestured towards the Admiral. "This is Admiral Drew, the Academy Commandant. He will be our guest aboard the Hepta and he is also the reason that we are setting sail now."
Danny watched the expectant faces for a while, before turning on the screen behind him. Two blips in a vast expanse of space lit up immediately. "this it the binary star system Kabul. It contains the planets Klaathu and Vordon, both housing very advanced and essentially peaceful civilizations. Both civilizations are highly dependant on Berilium ore for various uses on their respective planets. Since a new supply of Berilium was discovered on a neutral moon in neutral space in the system, a trade dispute has arisen. Both races claim jurisdiction over the moon and both the Klaathu and the Vordon claim equal rights to mine the Berilium. As it is of vital importance for both races, neither are prepared to back down."
Danny paused and looked around again. He saw the looks of recognition in cadets and Instructors alike. It was the same old story and it would run the same old course.
"Officially, the planets are not yet at war, although hostilities have already occurred. The planets are on the border of Federation space and as such, they have requested a Federation mediator. The Federation has high hoped that these planets will eventually enter the Federation, thus adding considerable scientific knowledge to our various sciences. Therefore, the Federation has asked Admiral Drew to run the negotiations. As Academy Flagship, we are to assist the Admiral in any way we can. There will be work for all departments and you might even be asked to perform beyond your regular duties. It is our job to keep the planets from going to war, so speed is of the essence. For now, run all preflight checks and diagnostics as soon as possible. You have two hours. We will leave at 18.00 hours, sharp."
Danny looked around for any questions that might have arisen during the briefing. "If there are no further questions.........Dismissed!"
<TAG: Everyone>
All right everyone, if there are still questions, by all means post them. If not, let's get this puppy out of spacedock!!!

As soon as she entered the briefing room, B'reca saw the cadet who had seemed uneasy around her earlier. She sat down in the seat farthest away from him, hoping that she would be able to avoid him for the duration of the mission.
The mission as explained by the captain seemed straightforward. B'reca made a mental note to research the Klaathu and Vordon cultures so that she knew what to expect from them once the Hapta arrived in the Kabul system. Hopefully, her duties would be scientific and peaceful, but the captain had mentioned that she may be required to perform duties outside of her field. For now, B'reca didn't want to think about what that might mean.
Many of the other Cadets, and even some of the commanders, seemed excited to get underway. Studying her own feelings, B'reca was surprised to discover that she was too. An unfamiliar anticipation coursed through her veins; after months on the space station, she was ready to get out into space and do what she had joined Starfleet to do: explore strange new worlds.

Realizing that he never official reported to his instructor Cadet Park figured he would after the captain's briefing. As he entered the briefing room he realized he was the first cadet there. Well park thought never late for anything before except reporting to my instructor as Cadet park report to his instructor walked up to him.
"Cadet Park Reporting for duty,Sir. Sorry for the delay but i was involved with the mini mission Sir."
<tag k'ratak>
Taking a seat near his instructor park look to see other cadets arrive one being the Klingon who went to the end of the table. with the captains dismissal park went over to cadets Dawntheft and McLeod "Hey Guys still want that drink, I am buying." park said
<Tag McLeod and Dawntheft>
After leaving the briefing room Cadet Park deliprily avoided the klingon cadet heading for ten-forward park enters and goes to the replicator ordering a hamburger with fries and a soda. heading to a table.
After his meal Park receives a Comcall asking him to report to sickbay. Ah i guess it's time for my physical Park thought. heading to the turbolift, Cadet Park noticed the klingon cadet heading his way quickly he enters a set a doors and realized he entered a set of empty quarters.
Ah well i guess it's time to exit park realized after he gets to sickbay he heads to the doctor on call. When the exam was over then Park returned to his quarters withing till he has to report for his shift

Ainsleigh, normally one of the first to arrive, ran in at exactly 16:00 hours and noted a seat open by B'reca. Slipping in hoping to go unnoticed and seeing all eyes on her wasn't the first impression she'd wanted to make. However, nothing could dampen her spirits right now.
The Captain gave his briefing and introduced Admiral Drew. At this point she had no questions. Of course the science officer knew she'd be spending their time traveling to this system studying the two cultures.
They had two hours to get underway. McLeod leaned over to B'reca, "Have you checked in with Commander Ford?", knowing that the Klingon had arrived late to the ship.
<Tag B'reca>
"Well I need to get to the lab and prepare. You coming?" Just then Cadet Park called over to her and Dawnthief, "Hey Guys still want that drink, I am buying."
Thinking it natural to include the new cadet in the offer, "Ainsleigh responded, "We're going to take a raincheck, have to get to the lab."
Something passed over Park's eyes and she could sense a stiffness in the Klingon cadet. She'd obviously missed something and decided to find out what had just happened. Knowing now was not the time for it, but it was a long mission and time would come, McLeod put it on the back burner.

Timothy's hand went down on Quinn's shoulder, next to where the wings emerged. "Fraternization can wait." he said sternly to Cadet Park. He then turned to Cadet Dawnthief. "I suggest you come with me instead. I am Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Howd, your instructor." It was a very blunt statement. Pleasantries got in the way.
Timothy understood the implication of such a request. "To buy a drink," usually had an alcoholic tendency to it, of which he was very opposed to. His foster father was a drinker... Timothy touched the scar on his right face remembering those times.
"We will be heading down to the shuttle bay. One, I want to see their compliment of fighters.. if they have any, that is. Two, calisthenics are due to begin and I need to assess the abilities of this crew." Howd was only temporarily in charge, one could say the 'acting' senior marine officer, until Starfleet either deemed him capable of command, or incapable of learning sensitivity.
Quinn had to jog to keep up with Howd, who kept a fast pace at all times. "Those wings are going to get in the way of your training." Timothy said to the Assimar cadet when they were holding still in the turbolift. "I don't want to be responsible if you were to get injured, so I suggest you keep them tucked back at all times."
What Quinn had yet to learn, was that Howd was not a mean person. Nor was he mad. He was just a straight forward officer. The fact that the wings would get in the way were just that, a fact. The way Howd presented his observation, though, probably led Quinn to believe he was being put down. It was not the case. The lack of a human touch was the reason Timothy Howd was on this assignment. Howd and Quinn would be learning from each other; Quinn learning marine tactics, and Howd learning interpersonal skills. Hopefully one or the other would not become discouraged before the mission's end. Starfleet seemed to think they were a good match.
The doors to the turbolift opened, and they walked the corridor. Howd had committed the entire map of the ship to memory already, as was his custom. One never knew when they would need to maneuver through it in an emergency. He lived his training, never taking a break from being an aware and conscious marine.
Marines ran in circles around the shuttle bay as they entered. "Fall in, Cadet." Howd said, already picking up his pace to match the jogging group. "And don't let me catch you using those wings."

Blakus let out a sigh when the briefing was over, careful not to let anyone hear it. This was not how he had wanted it to be, rushing around like a... well, like a madman trying to get to places. He'd hardly had any time to breathe as of yet.
Yet the mission was enticing, as an engineering cadet he would have to be constantly monitoring the engines, ship systems or whatever he would be assigned to do. There isn't going to be much let up for this mission! he thought. He just hoped he could keep on top of everything. Blakus was the first (well perhaps not the first) to admit that he was lacking badly in organisation. But one thing he was good at, and he knew it, was analysing the moods and behaviour of people. He sampled the various people around the room. Immediately he noticed something. Just across the table from him three of the other cadets were engaged in some sort of unspoken dialogue, he could see the discomfort between the new klingon cadet and the first cadet he had met, Jon Park.
Interesting, I'd like to see how that develops, he thought. Blakus didn't worry that he might be seen as a bit cold and emotionally detached in that department, his emotions were there. But he liked to be enigmatic.
Stealing off to his 'quarters', (if two bare bunk-beds in an even smaller room than his decidedly small bathroom at his apartment in San Francisco can be considered quarters) he decided to have a small break before heading off to engineering. He hadn't really had a chance to converse with his instructor Commander McFarland since his brief introduction on the holodeck, he hoped he hadn't made a bad first impression.
Blakus' bed was one of the top bunks. Two of the other bunks were already occupied, one remained empty, for now. He lay down on his bunk, noting its incredible unsoftness, and thought about the upcoming mission.

Watching everybody leave and the reaction his cadet gave to the other klingon cadet he shook his head. Looking over at the captain he tryed to hide the smile, he could tell Danny was loving the job.
" It would seem that even thoe our cadets are clever they have issues as well. Have you read the back round report on cadet Park. It would seem he had a bad run with some of my people and its still effecting him. He hasn't learned that every race has a few bad seeds in them, might become a problem for him later. Maybe we might be able to fix that her instead of him learning the hard way later."
" I'm also not keen about the admiral being aboard its a security risk. We both know how Admiral Drew gets when it comes to his security details. I some times wonder if Commander Hope isn't sitting in her quarters laughting at us"
Walking out on the bridge the ship was getting ready to leave. Looking around the bridge he took his first officer chair until the captain was ready. Still he had concerns as well there new Marine instructor was a good officer but he he was alittle to direct and to the point. He couldn't falt him for that but there might be problems later on down the line. Some times you couldn't be direct and to the point. He put into his report that captain would read it later when he had time.
Thinking for a moment he tapped his combadge " Cadet Park report to the bridge, Commander Howd when you and your cadet are free could you please report to the bridge as well. There are a few things I want to go over with the two of you about the mission"
He already knew he was going to be a very busy person this trip. He had hope it would be a easy one but who was he fooling. They were the flag ship if anything was easy it wouldn't be there mission then. He waited for his cadet to report and for there Marines to report. He thought about the marines they had aboard he was hoping they might get along. After all klingon beleifs were not to far from what he marines did on ship but most of all what they did on planet side.

John had made his way to the observation lounge in earnest of their mission briefing, across from him sat Admiral Drew, the Academy Commandant. John was close with Admiral Drew from his work in the Academy in guest lecturing and also in his role as Academy Datakeeper. John nodded to Admiral Drew and smiled, as he surveyed the room.
There were several young cadets present for the briefing, John stared down at his padd that a young ensign had passed him as he had been enjoying his coffee in Main Engineering before the mission briefing. The padd displayed the details of a new Engineering Cadet, Andae Blakus and a picture with a small biography. John gazed around at the cadets around the table and saw his Cadet near the bottom of the table flanked by two other cadets, John remembered the cadet turning up late for the holodeck mission, John smiled to himself β being late was a cadetβs worst nightmare but John understood that cadets were assigned at the last minute and being late was no disaster.
Suddenly the doors to the Observation Lounged swished open in the familiar fashion presenting Captain LΓΆhnen and Commander KβRatak, the XO. John rose from his seat reluctantly, he had never been a fan of tradition and was quite comfortable sitting down but he had to remember part of his job of being an Instructor was being a good example to the cadets. As Captain LΓΆhnen outlined their upcoming mission John leaned back in his chair and listened intently, it sounded like the Hepta would have an important role to play. John relished the prospect as he listened to the Captain continueβ¦
For now, run all preflight checks and diagnostics as soon as possible. You have two hours. We will leave at 18.00 hours, sharp."
John stood up to leave and make his way to Main Engineering to run a final diagnostic on the engines before they left for the Kabul system. John watched Cadet Blakus as he left the briefing room with his fellow cadets, John wanted to give the young cadet time to acclimatise to life aboard the Hepta before pushing him too hard. Arriving at Main Engineering, John quickly ran an Engine Diagnostic from his console then tapped his comm. badge.
=^= McFarland to Cadet Blakus, please report to Main Engineering. =^=
(Tag Blakus)
John planned to get to know the young cadet whilst getting Brakus to run his own diagnostic. John already knew the results but he wanted to see what Blakus was made of and from the first moment his cadet steeped into Engineering John would know just how good he was.

Danny re-entered the Bridge after the mission briefing. Now was the time! He walked over to the Captain's chair, stroked it lovingly and carefully sat down in it. TJ belonged in this chair, but Danny felt right at home there as well.
He leaned back for a moment. "Hmmm, all I need right now is a good book and a strong cup of coffee", he muttered softly to himself. He saw several members of the Bridge crew looking at him intently and realized with a shock that he had spoken somewhat to loud. Turning scarlet, he tucked his uniform in and started punching buttons on the console attached to the Captain's chair, frantically pretending not to notice the blunder he had just made.
Slowly, but surely, reports were coming in from all over the ship. It sounded like they were ready for anything. Danny could only hope that they were. On his right, Petty officer Llewellyn entered the Bridge and took her station at the helm. He watched her running her pre-flight sequences and couldn't help but smile. So young and flying a few hundred tons of steel through outer space...... He remembered when he was her age, which, come to think of it, wasn't all that long ago actually. He had been an eager Engineer then, quickly moving from cadet to Chief Engineer on an Akira class starship. He then joined the Marine Corps, served as Marine, Marine Instructor, Operations Instructor and finally Acting Captain of the Hepta. It seemed incredible, it had all gone so fast.
The XO sat down in the chair beside him. Just weeks ago, they had been Operations Instructor and Tactical/Security Instructor respectively, now they were in command of the ship. The XO looked worried about something. Before Danny could address it, however, Commander K'ratak punched his comm badge and ordered Cadet park, Colonel Howd and Cadet Dawnthief to the Bridge because he wanted to discuss something with them. Danny was curious, but did not press the point. The Xo would tell him in due time.
18.00 hours approached and the usual tension on the ship increased. Danny could feel the expectations of the crew, his crew and he shared them. He wanted to be out there, away from this spacedock that had harboured the Hepta for too long. As the finall reports came in, all the Captain could do was wait until it was time to depart.

He still wasn't happy with the security risk the Admiral posed, reading records he had noticed a pattern. The Admiral always had a nack of being in the thick of things, which was not acceptable to him. He was a flag officer and like the captain there safety was his first concern. Figureing now was as a good a time as any he looked over at the captain.
" Sir given the Admiral history I"m already working on security details for the mission. I have read the admiral mission logs, it would appear that nothing goes normaly where he's concerned. I will try to plan for events but I would like to get going now instead of later. I will update when I have talked too everybody needed for this assignment."
He didn't want to leave the captain out of the loop but there were other things that had to be done. There was a reason for a chain of comand his job was to take care of the little things to free the captain up for the running of the ship.
He looked up to see his cadet report to him, He still looked a little uneasy but there wasn't time for that right now. " Cadet follow me" looking at the captain " With your permission sir I would like to use your ready room for a few moments.
Walking to the captains ready with his cadet in tow he took the captains seat behind the desk. How many times have I sat her in the last few months, not as captain or xo buting the only officer aboard. Looking up at his cadet he figured now was as good a time as any
" Take a seat cadet, I have been reading your personal record. You did a good job high marks from all your instructors. Although it would appear that some showed some concern for you. I see you had a nasty run in with some of my people some years back. I'm not going to beat around the bush about this or try to talk to you about your feelings. I"m going to put everthing on the table for you as I see it."
" Your assigned to this ship as my cadet I'm also the ships XO which means I have to look out for everybody well being. What ever issues you have with Klingons I suggest you learn to deal with them. I saw the way you acted around the other klingon cadet, I have to say I"m less then inpressed right now. You are the tatical cadet your job is the safety of the ship and her crew no matter how you might feel about them."
" I could sit here and lecture you until I'm blue in the face that every race know to man has some bad seeds in it. I'm not going to instead I'm going to issue you a challenge something so hard you might fail. I want you to get to know Cadet Keran and report back to me, I dont mean read her personal record either. I want to know what makes her tick what she wants for herself, what drives her. Maybe this will give you some closeure on the things that happened to you. I will expect a report at the close of the mission you will do this on your owne time."
" Next and this is ships business, we have a flag officer on board. While he his aboard his saftey is your responsablity. I must warn you ahead of time he will not be easy to deal with when it comes to his personal security. Your job will not be easy or fun, if I didn't think you could handle it I would assign it to you. Next I want a full systems check on weapons and shields with in a hour. I want possible flaws fixed and if you can improve on anything I want it done, are there any questions Cadet"
OCC Cadets I have taken the habit of not tagging, so you need to make sure you read everthing so you know when to jump in.

Seeing that the commander was uneasy about his past Cadet Park planed to put thing straight with him looking him in the eye Park said "Sir i would never put the safety of the ship or crew in jeopardy when i am given a assignment, however you know of my past as i know of yours and i give you my word i will work on the issues i have on my own time. Now i have understanding the we have admiral abroad i will have the status of weapons and shield done within the hour sir. "Are there any questions Cadet?"
Hearing his last question park responded that he had none , Being dismissed from the ready room Cadet Park ascended to the bridge's tactical station looking at the board Cadet Park called up a weapon status seeing that all was fine Park called up a shield status and everything else seemed fine, Running over some other screens Cadet Park saw a problem Looking down at Commander k'ratak
"Commander", Cadet Park said with a little more strength then he meant to making both the Captain and the Commander to turn, Looking at them both Park reported "There seams to be a slight drain on the secondary systems they are down to 85% and there seams to be a secondary computer failure. I will head to engineering to assist with the repair, With your permission of course sir." After the captains permission Park Graped a padd with the status and getting updates Park turned to the turbolift and step inside " Main engineering."
As the lift stooped on deck 4 Cadet Park heard the door opening and saw Cadet Keranand Cadet Mcleod getting on as the cadet's called out her destination Park studied his padd with greater detail. The lift stopped on deck 36 and cadet park exits almost runs right into Cadet Blakus. "Have you seen this Blakus" Park asked handing him the padd and followed him into engineering and coming up to the pool table like monitor and looked around listening to the plan.
"Sir" Park said "I may have found at least one of the drain spot it's located near science lab 2 I'll head there now. knotting at the chief engineer, Cadet Park headed back to the turbo lift Stepping inside he called out "Deck 12 Science labs" as the lift takes him to the labs park reads the updates to the padd secondary systems continues to drop now it was 80% "Damn what could be causing the drain" Park thought. The lift stop's at deck 7 Park exits and heads into science lab 2.
OCC Please make the changes to the ship status thread to reflect the problem i layed out here

Simon disliked having to re-decorate Sickbay, but was even more annoyed when it is re-decorated by an engineer with a bad sense of humour. Simon had spent the past several hours getting the stations staff to re-re-paint his sickbay. Turning to his assistant he spoke quickly and quietly βCommander, if you see the chief engineer enter sickbay would you mind restraining him so I can have a sharp word with him. And do you have the padd with the cadet data as I canβt seem to find it hereβ Simon had wanted to read the entire file on all cadets so he knew if he needed to drag a few down for medicals. βHere it is doctor, and it seems we have a cadet this roundβ .
Simon looked up at the Vulcan, accepting the padd he noted the name of his cadet and his photo so that he could at least recognise him. Leaving sickbay to make his way to the bridge he was annoyed with himself as he was late, entering the briefing room just before the captain began to speak. Simon quickly taking the last available seat he listened to what the captain had to say. "If there are no further questions.........Dismissed!" Simon stood and made his way to sickbay, whilst in the turbo lift he remembered that he had a cadet to worry about, tapping his comm. badge Simon hoped the cadet had left the briefing and had not felt lost. =/\=Commander Barnes to Cadet Daris, please report to sickbay=/\=
<Tag Daris>
As Simon walked into sickbay he was glad to see the cadet had made his way to sickbay quickly βah, Cadet Daris. Welcome to the Hepta, to begin with I will have you perform a few medicals while we waitβ Simon quickly looked though the padd to decide who to drag down to sickbay. =/\=Commanders McFarland, Penfold and Ford. Cadets McLeod, Keran and Blakus please report to sickbay for a medical examination=/\= Just as quickly as he closed the communication link, he re-opened it =/\=Admiral Drew this is Doctor Barnes, please report to sickbay at your earliest convenience for a medical check up=/\= turning to face the cadet he smiled βdo not worry I will take care of the admiralβ Simon moved to one of the bio beds to await the arrivals allowing Edwin to get use to his surroundings and to check a few of the minor patients they already had in sickbay.

Ainsleigh and B'reca entered the science office. Commander Ford wasn't there. Taking charge, as was her nature, "I'm a cyptobiologist with a secondary in genetics." the young cadet informed her companion.
<Tag B'reca>
"I think I'll check out my lab and see what needs to be done here." McLeod really wanted to be on the bridge where she believed the action would be, but knew it would be presumptuous to go without orders from her commander.
There was alot of activity going on around them as the station's personnel finished the last deliveries of supplies and the installation of a new, state of the art neutron microscope.
Her blue eyes flashed at the thought of getting her hands on it. Her world was already telescoping down to her lab, her studies, her experiments. Ainsleigh could lose herself to science and have no concept of time.
Her studies made it a joy to sit down at her console and punch up the information in the Federation's data banks about the Klaathu and Vordon. Immediately her station came to life with data, surprisingly sparse.
The cadet started to read the first contact report.

"Hey Guys still want that drink, I am buying." The cadet from earlier shouted out to him after the mission briefing, before Quinn could reply though, a strong hand gripped Quinns shoulder.
"Fraternization can wait. I suggest you come with me instead. I am Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Howd, your instructor."
"I'm guessing you dont need to know my name then." Quinn chuckled, but Howd missed this, seemingly lost in thought, his hand unconciously touching a scar on his face. Quinn followed the instructor down to the shuttle bay, continuously looking at all the signs and directions as they jogged past, having had very little warning about which ship he would be on, he had not yet had a chance to look at a map of the ship. Arriving, they fell in with the marines who were doing laps, the jogging was easy compared to the ordeals that he had been through to get into starfleet.
"And don't let me catch you using those wings." Howd ordered him, knowing better than to say it aloud, Quinn thought to himself 'At this rate ill be using my wings to slow me down.'
So far, his instructor seemed very similar to his old mentor at home, very straight to the point, almost to the point of being harsh and definately not one to annoy.

Watching Cadet Park leave to investigate the power drain, another thought entered his head. We havent even left space dock yet and we already have problems, he was not getting a good feeling about the mission already. He could tell the captain was ready to get underway him self he'd been couped up to long already.
Tapping his combadge " Cadet Keran report to the bridge, there are something things I wish to go over with you before we are under way." Looking at the captain he thought he saw a smile on his face. They had worked to gether off and on through the months and gotten to know each other to a degree. Looking at him " I'm sure your enjoying me playing therapist maybe I'll transfer to medical and be your counselor as well. I'll get you in my office and convince you that your a chicken"
" The cadets should get the power drain figured out shortly if not Mcfarland will have somebody head. I wouldn't be to shocked if the admiral didn't call you as well, asking us why we are underway yet." Then it was his turn to smile " I'll leave the explenation to you captain"

Entering the science labs figuring the park would find commander ford instead he found two cadets one he kinda knew one he was trying to avoid yet ordered to get to know. As he studied the faces of the two cadet he figured he better tell them why he was there just as Cadet Keran to report to the bridge. Saved by the comcall thought Park turning the Cadet McLeod Park said "I have located a power drain coming from this general area, Would it be ok to look around?"
<Tag McLeod>
Scanning the science lab i notice some weird readings near the back heading that way i remove a panel spotting some burned out icoliner chips taping his combadge "Park to engineering i am in science lab 2 i have found a broken icoliner chip interface with odn access please send a team right away. Park out."
Closing the comlink Park though maybe i should inform Commander k'ratak "Park to K'ratak i found the source of the power drain and have an engineering team on the way we should be ready to leave space dock in an hour or so. Park out "
Closing the comlink the engineering team arrived seeing this as the time to leave Park heads for the turbolift running into Cadet Keran Park stopped short "Cadet Keran i didn't see you." Which was true for he was reading a padd with ship updated he had from the bridge. " Look i know there is trencen between us but you have my work if you need my help you just have to ask for it. I am getting together with Cadets McLeod and Dawntheif in ten-forward after our shift if you wish to come you may." i need to get to the bridge excuse me see you there i hope."
Park headed away without hearing the cadet clearly but he figured he handed the olive branch out lets see where it leads, someone has to that the first step and i am charged with her safety as a tactical officer so i will approach her . Entering the turbolift Park gave the command to return tho the bridge anticipating the launch of not only the Hepta but his career in starfleet

The Bridge was the scene of the usual pre-flight flurry. Minutes from take-off, Danny had just received Cadet Park's message that the isolinear chip in Science I had been succesfully replaced. He sighed. It was time.
Petty Officer Llewellyn nodded tha she was ready. This was the moment Danny had been hoping for all along. He sat bolt upright, as did Commander K'ratak. He breathed deeply. The first time he would be taking the Hepta out on his orders ought to be perfect.
=^=All hands, this is the Captain. Proceed to your stations and prepare for departure=^=
The Operations officer, a young, pretty Ensign with a wave of gold-blonde hair, turned around. "We are clear for take-off Captain. Docking clamps have been released, we're good to go sir." Danny nodded his approval. "Thank you ms Blake." He turned to the Helmswoman. "Miss Llewellyn, kindly take us to full impulse if you please." The Petty Officer looked around, an incredulous look in her eyes. "Impulse in spacedock sir?" she asked, more than a hint of doubt in her voice.
The viewscreen showed the spacedock doors were open. Danny smiled, a roguish smile, a reminder of his Academy days. Then, he answered his helm's officer. "By all means Ms Llewellyn, take us out at full impulse. "Aye aye sir," she replied and punched in the commands.
The screen showed the blurred features of spacedock, followed by the beauty of the vast blackness of space. Stars all around them seemed to shine brighter than ever before. The Hepta, his Hepta had left spacedock. As Petty Officer Llewellyn blew out the breath she had been holding, Danny tapped his commbadge again.
=^=Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building=^=
One hour later
The Hepta was en route to the Kabul system at warp 9. Speed was of the essence and the negotiations were important to the Federation. Still, the crew needed to be prepared for what awaited them. Danny tapped his comm badge.
=^=Science Department, I want a full briefing on the Kabul system and the two civilizations inhabiting it by 0900 tomorrow. Captain out.=^-

McLeod responded to Park's request to look around, "Of course, anything you need," and she added, "A new neutron microscope was just installed. I'd check to see if it isn't causing a power drain."
She'd been studying what information the data banks had on Klaathu and Verdon and wondered why there was so little. There seemed to be a problem getting what she was looking for. Finally, frustrated, =/\=Engineering=/\= she tapped her comm badge and reported the computing problem.

Not waiting for them to do it all, Ainsleigh started a diagnostic of the science lab.
B'reca had already been called to the bridge and McLeod decided to use this diagnostic as an excuse to get there herself.
It wasn't long before the turbolift deposited her on the bridge. The doors with a slight pneumatic hiss opened to reveal the bridge. Hesitating for a moment and breathing in all that this meant to her, Ainsleigh stepped out and headed toward the unmanned science station.
It surprised her to see it vacant this close to launch but no doubt Ford had it covered. She slipped into the seat as if born to be there. As soon as her fingers touched the console it lit up with reds, blues and greens. The colors reflected on her face in the subdued light of the science station.
She started a level one diagnostic. As the computer acknowledged her command, she turned to observe the rest of the bridge.
Up front sat the Captain and XO. A young woman she didn't recognize sat at the helm. B'reca was talking with the XO. There was a flurry of activity as the crew finalized preparations for departure.
Knowing she had work to do, she reluctantly left the bridge and returned to the lab.

No sooner had the young cryptobiologist returned to her lab when the comm went off.
=^=Science Department, I want a full briefing on the Kabul system and the two civilizations inhabiting it by 0900 tomorrow. Captain out.=^-
~Damn,~ she thought to herself. Sitting back down and checking on the diagnostic that was still running, she could clearly see something was wrong. It was showing her that the science computer system was working at 79.765% of capacity.
Gut instinct told her this was not right. Thinking to call engineering again and deciding instead to go there herself, the cadet called up a detailed map of the Hepta to be able to find engineering.
Deeply she wished that Dawnthief and herself had had more time to explore the vessel. One of her biggest detriments had been a lack of direction. With map in hand, she headed to engineering.

McLeod leaned over to B'reca, "Have you checked in with Commander Ford?"
"Not yet," B'reca replied. "I was about to report in on the Holodeck, but the mission was interrupted by the captain before I could say anything."
For the next hour, B'reca found herself following the other Cadet around. McLeod spoke to the male Cadet who seemed to have a problem with B'reca, and then headed towards the science labs with B'reca in tow.
=/\=Commanders McFarland, Penfold and Ford. Cadets McLeod, Keran and Blakus please report to sickbay for a medical examination=/\=
B'reca was too busy to obey this command immediately - at least that was her logial reason for avoiding the infirmary. She secretly hoped that if she avoided her examination for long enough, Barnes would forget about her. Sickbays made her nervous, and she didn't like anyone to touch her body, even in a professional setting.
"I'm a cyptobiologist with a secondary in genetics." McLeod told her. B'reca replied, explaining that she had been an assistant in a Klingon laboratory for experimental nanotechnology. She didn't tell the other Cadet why she'd left her job and how she'd ended up in Starfleet. That information was to be kept a secret for as long as possible.
When McLeod left to "check out her lab", B'reca started looking for the nanotech' lab, where she would be working for the duration of this mission. It seemed unlikely that her expertise in nanotechnology would come in useful for this mission, but her knowledge of Klingon and human biology might be called upon at some point. Her limited programming skills might even be put to the test.
When she found the lab, B'reca started exploring the equipment, finding it to be state of the art. She would be able to conduct all the experiments she had been planning over the past year here, maybe even continue her father's work.
"Cadet Keran report to the bridge, there are something things I wish to go over with you before we are under way."
B'reca jumped at the sound of the comm' - she'd been so absorbed in her own little world that she's forgotten she was on a Starfleet ship, on her very first mission. Hurrying out of the laboratory, she headed towards the nearest turbolift. Such was her haste that she wasn't looking where she was going when she bumped into the Cadet who had been avoiding her.
He didn't give her time to get a word in edgeways, but his words were encouraging. He seemed nervous but willing to overcome his apparant animosity towards B'reca, and she intended to take him up on his invitation to meet at ten-forward.
"That you, that sounds..." she began to reply, before realising that the Cadet was already out of earshot. Smiling fainty to herself, B'reca hurried to the bridge just in time to experience the ship's embarkation. It was incredible to see the Spacedock fall away from them as if some invisible tether had been cut loose.
After standing there for at least five minutes and staring as if she'd never seen stars before, B'reca realised that the XO was watching her. Snapping to attention, she stated her name and rank.
"4th class Cadet B'reca Keran, reporting as ordered, Sir."
<Tag K'ratak>
Out of the corner of her eye, B'reca saw McLeod enter the bridge, run a diagnostic and leave again. She wondered what was going on - had she missed something when she'd been so absorbed in her new lab? - but this was not the time to ask.

Cadet Park stood at the tactical station listening as the captain gave the order to get under way taking time out from investigating the power drain to the science lab. Working with the lieutenant at tactical he saw Cadet keran enter the bridge seeing her stand there mesmerized by the ship launch he recalled that she had never really been in space before, Yet he had been for years after his father died and he was ship off to live with his mother.
Watching her descend to the command area and started talking to Commander K'ratak. Hearing the turbolift doors open Park looked over seeing Cadet McLeod Enter and go over to science 1 running a diagnostic.
Trying to lock down the power drain from the sciences lab i guess it was more then the chip relays Park thought. Looking down Park saw a light from his companel it was a incoming subspace message turning to the captain. Park said " Captain Lohnen there is a incoming subspace message Sir. It from Starbase Conqueror from a Lieutenant Colonel stone, it's for you sir."
<Tag Lohnen>
Seeing Cadet Keran leave Park turned his attion to the shield and weapons they were online and at 100% put he had an idea from boosting there power and straight if need looking at Commander K'ratak Park said " Commander i have some ideas for boosting the phaser and Shields, Permission to go to holodeck one to run simulation with Cadets Blakus, Dawntheif and McLeod i also need Cadet keran to assist from deck 21 to monitor the power reading from Power Distribution."

A small marine compliment ran in circles around the F-1 fighters, weaving between them. The Fighters were quite a sight, and their existence affirmed Tim's previous question in the positive. He was a trained pilot, as were most marine officers. Cadets had taken flight training by the time they reached Section 47's academy. Cadet Dawnthief would only have to learn Starfleet Marine protocol in terms of flight maneuvers and emergency procedure.
Howd had never trained a Cadet before. When they got around to that part of the training, it would be a learning experience for them both.
"Eighty five" the Captain in the front of the line yelled out, counting the laps out loud. Quinn and Timothy had started at lap twenty four.
A communique came through, and Howd answered it without breaking stride. Lieutenant Howd had barely broken a sweat, but wiped his brow anyway.
=/\= On my way, Commander. =/\= Timothy hadn't formally met the First Officer. He never disobeyed an order, though, so he cut out of the jogging line.
Quinn, who was ahead of him, made one more lap before Howd could wave him out of line as well. "Commander K'ratak wants to see us." He didn't comment any further, and headed toward the door in his usually fast pace.
The ride to the bridge was uneventful. The ship was about ready to take off; preflight checkout had already happened. The Klingon sat in his chair next to the Captain's chair.
"Reporting as requested, sir." Howd moved to the side to allow Quinn to be seen by the Commander as he turned around.

Looking down Park saw a light from his companel it was a incoming subspace message turning to the captain. Park said " Captain Lohnen there is a incoming subspace message Sir. It from Starbase Conqueror from a Lieutenant Colonel stone, it's for you sir." <Tag Lohnen> Danny looked up. They had just left spacedock and Danny had a rather good idea what the Starbase XO wanted to chat about. "I'll take it in my Ready Room cadet."
Danny moved swiftly to the Ready Room, to find Colonel Stone already waiting on the monitor. "How can I help you Colonel?" Danny asked as innocently as possible.
Stone responded immediately. "What were you thinking, pulling a stunt like that Captain? Full impulse in Spacedock?" Danny tried to look repenting, but failed dismally. "If it worked for Kirk, Colonel, it works for me." Danny could tell the Starbase XO was neither impressed, nor amused at this answer. Quickly he added: "Colonel, I know what I'm doing. I trust my crew, I trust my ship. I would never put them in harm's way without due cause."
This answer seemd to soften Colonel Stone somewhat. "Just remember Captain, you now also have the Academy Commandant with you. You are responsible for his safety and his safe return." "My best people are watching his back Colonel, you needn't worry."
Stone nodded, not entirely reassured, but unable to do anything more about it at the present time. "Very well then Captain, have a safe journey. May the stars watch over you." With those words, Stone's image faded from the computer screen. Danny leaned back in his chair, pondering the present mission.Captain's Log added on "Ship Status" thread. Anyone needing a summary of events so far can use that as a starting point.
