OCC okay here it some backround we have just beamed over to the U.S.S Avitar old constelation reported missing over a 100 years ago from our stardate. Object to get the ship running and return to starbase. While at the same time trying to figure out what happened to so long ago. Anyone is welcome to join please be creative and strecth your legs a bit.
Entering the holodeck he was the first one there. He waited to see who would be joining him on this little adventure. Walking around the old bridge he thought to him self. I wonder what the crew of this ship would think to know a klingon is on the bridge now in our present time.
He waited to see who would join him on this mission and to see what they would bring and what they would learn.

When Commander K'ratak had first announced this exercise, Ainsleigh wasn't sure what she was getting herself into. At first she had planned to wear clothes native to her homeworld, comfortable and practical, but after learning that the commander was one of the academy's training officers she changed her mind and chose her Starfleet uniform.
As she finishing dressing, she slipped the only non-issue item into the top of her boots. She had been nervous, and she had to admit to herself, a little scared, when the Klingon commander had first asked her about joining this exercise.
Amazed at her feelings this morning, she had to admit alot of her excitement was due to Imad joining this little expedition. The young cadet wondered who else had decided to come. There had been a couple of other cadets at the bakery, but honestly, she couldn't remember their answers after her immediate affirmative response. She'd left the bakery in a bit of a daze.
The door chime to her quarters sounded, "Enter," Ainsleigh called out as she finished french braiding her hair so not to allow her unruly mane to get in the way.
~Right on time~ she thought as she stepped out into the room. It was time to head to the holodeck and she only hoped that when she returned, it would be in one piece.

Imad glanced at the PADD one more time, frowning as he read its contents. In truth, he was happy, overjoyed even, that he had received his assignment but to his mind it couldn't have come at a worse time. The lieutenant found himself wishing that he had ignored the flashing message light on the console in his quarters that morning. ~How will I tell Ainsleigh? Truthfully I don't want to tell her at all.~ the officer thought as he pressed the chime to alert the cadet that he was waiting outside of her quarters.
The doors slid open and Imad entered the room, within a minute Ainsleigh appeared from the back and he felt a pang of guilt. She seemed eager to face the task set by the instructor and Imad began to contemplate what would happen if he was a few hours late. ~I will miss my ship? But I like being around her. I will go with her, if the training takes too long I can always excuse myself.~
She was observant and Imad could tell that Ainsleigh had noticed his rank insignia almost immediately. Where before there had been a hollow pip now there was a bar.
"I received my assignment this morning," he explained, "I'm a lieutenant in the marines..and the CO of the USS Nevada's flight wing. I have to leave in a couple of hours...but I would like to spend them with you. And if that means going to the training, then so be it."

Ainsleigh had a flash of mixed emotions. "That's wonderful, Lt.," she smiled at the sound. "Is it with your brother?"
Deep down she screamed, ~NO....~ She liked Imad and they'd had far to little time together. She wanted to skip the training exercise, but knew as well as Mrad that duty called.
She could feel tears start to well up and fought them back down. ~Officers don't cry~ she told herself. Surprised at the depth of emotion she was feeling having only known Imad a short time. They'd fallen into such easy comraderie. She was going to miss him terribly.
Knowing the new CO had alot to do before the Nevada left dock, she gave him an out. "I know you must have alot to do before your ship leaves." Then one of her genuine laughs came out, "But please walk me to holodeck six." He was well aware of her penchant for getting lost.
She saw his smile and knew what could have been an awkward situation was eased. As they departed her quarters, she looked up over her shoulder at him, "I won't be in the academy forever." The smile she gave him spoke volumes.

Looking over as the rest of the group started to arrive in the holodeck. He saw some emotions there between McLeod and Mrad. Ah to be young again he thought to himself then agan I'ev worked to dam hard to be this old.
He saw the looks on there faces as they entered and realized they were standing on the bridge of a hundred year old ship. " This is what I love history to think compared todays standards this thing is a rust bucket. I on the other hand see it as classy something to be cherished."
" So let me give you some back round the events that happened on this ship are a mystery even today. She was found about 2 yrs ago persumed lost no crew, no damage nothing. He powere systems were dead, Took star fleet a week to find someone who knew how to work on her to get power up and running and back to earth where she sits right now being restored back to orignal condition. Every detail is exact every reading your mission to figure out what happened and to get her back to earth. You have minimal power and no impulse or warp yet. One other thing the crew that found this ship swore they saw ghost aboard even though there was no scienetic evidence of anything aboard. They told storys of seeing crew and things move always when they were along"
" Any questions before we begin"

"I won't be in the academy forever." Ainsleigh had said then smiled at him as they walked together toward the holodeck training. The words had cheered Imad somewhat. ~It would be sublime if someday we were both posted on the same ship.~ the marine thought as they turned a corner and then entered the turbolift.
After stating their desired destination the doors closed and he and Ainsleigh rode in silence. They were the only two in the lift and neither said anything at first. Not knowing what to say, and feeling a sense of loss well up inside of him, Imad turned and quickly embraced Ainsleigh inside the lift. He held her loosely, fearing that she did not share the same attraction that he felt.
"I will miss you greatly," Imad told the woman as he held her. "If you ever need me, just send a message and I will come. I am sorry that I have to leave you so soon."

All the emotion Ainsleigh had been trying so hard to control almost overwhelmed her when Imad hugged her. She leaned into him and held him tight. She wanted to scream ~Don't go!~ but controlled her impulse.
His last statement touched her more deeply then he could possibly know. "I'm sorry too."
"Just keep your head down Marine," and she knew he could feel the shutter that went through her. As the word 'marine' left her mouth, she had a moment of clarity and realized, even if Imad didn't yet know, that he joined up not because of his father or his brother. Imad was a Marine.
She wished that moment could last, but all to soon the turbolift announced their destination and the doors whished open. She could see K'ratak standing by the holodeck. She stepped away from the young man and as she stepped out of the turbolift she held a hand on his chest. "Til we meet again Lt. Imad Mrad."
She turned and walked alone to start her training.

Simon was walking down the holodecks corridor when he noted one of the main lecture holodeck was active, moving to the consol he brought up what the room was being used for. Simon was quite surprised when he read the mission being used, ‘well well, it’s been a while since I saw that ship name, K’ratak has a good eye for mysteries’ Simon remembered being asked to join the medical team that surveyed the ship at its return to space dock. Extremely interested to see if the cadets might follow his path of find things even he had not Simon entered the holodeck.
Simon entered to see a fair few Cadets standing listening to their briefing from Commander K’ratak, as he finished Simon walked over to speak to him. “A nice little training mission you have set up here, it will be interesting to see what they find.” Simon did not feel it necessary to tell K’ratak that this was his second time on U.S.S Avitar’s Bridge but it had the feeling if he had gone into this much trouble to build a holographic training mission of this ship, he would have noted the list of personnel that had been investigating the ship in the first place.
Turning to look at the bridge Simon decided he would go down to the sickbay as Simon had turned down the safeties a little, not enough to put anyone at risk but enough to allow small injuries. “Commander K’ratak I will be in sickbay should anyone need me, and they might do with settings as safety settings as low as I saw them” walking off the bridge and made his way to the sickbay.

The doors to the holodeck opened to reveal the bridge of the USS Avitar. Cadet 4th class Ainsleigh McLeod stepped onto the first Starfleet vessel of her career still hurting from Imad's departure.
Mentally saying a final goodby to the young Marine and putting thoughts of him aside to deal with later in the privacy of her quarters, she cleared her mind. She'd need all her faculties on this training mission if she was to survive unscathed.
She made a beeling for the science station and noted the old computer array. Her fingers caressed the control panel. She was familiar with much of the equipment, being from a frontier planet. Much of their technology was older and she'd worked on computers that still used some of this.
Thinking to herself, ~This could be an advantage. Most of these cadets have probably never worked on anything this old.~ Commander K'ratak cleared his throat and she turned to pay attention to the mission briefing. Looking around at the other cadets, she saw no other wearing the uniform of a science officer and realized she could be it. In fact, she didn't see an engineer either. Just then a young cadet entered the bridge from the ship's doors, wiping his hands as though he'd just been working on the ship's engines.
The hairs on the back of McLeod's neck stood up. It was as if the ship had read her thoughts and created an engineer. She dismissed the though almost as soon as it had come, because K'ratak didn't seem surprised to see him. She listened to the Klingon give the details of this vessel during which the holodeck doors opened and there stood a commander, a Dr. Barnes. She heard the doctor mention the safety settings and and wondered just how hurt they could get.
When the briefing was over, Ainsleigh realized her answers weren't on the bridge, she needed to get to the science department. "Permission to leave the bridge," she barked out to Commander K'ratak.

Looking up at cadet McLeod as she asked permission to leave the bridge. "By all means cadet but remember one thing every detail and mission report was included in this program. As far as I know only one person on this whole base could tell you if it was real or not. By the end of the mission I hope to know what might have happened all the long ago." Puasing to acknowledge Doctor Barnes.
" Since I have changed the saftey protocals we will have a realy doctor during this trainning. Please keep that in minds and also remember this equipment is over 100 yrs old not quite as modern as your use to. Although I sure that wont be a problem." As he watched the cadets scatter he turned to doctor Barnes
" By the way thanks for the mission Idea at first I thought you were telling stories until I checked the records. Maybe one day you'll tell me what really happened instead of this classified stuff"

Ainsleigh headed for the science department, happy this was an old constelationn class ship. Being a smaller vessel then the current classes of craft, it would be easier for her to navigate.
"Computer, where is the science department located?"
To her surprise, silence answered her, but a schematic of the ship illuminated on the clear stripe running eye level on the walls. A red flashing light indicated her position and the science labs were lit in blue. Taking the turbolift she was soon entering her department.
It looked like the staff had just departed. Coffee cups sat where their owners had left them. The liquid had long since evaporated, but it was still eerie. Plants used in experiments were dead in their containers. The young cadet was grateful not to see corpses of animals in the empty cages.
Entering the CSO's office, McLeod went to the console, "Computer, the files on the original findings on the USS Avitar."
A very sexy female voice replied, "No files match those parameters."
~Wow,~ she thought to herself about the voice, ~things have sure changed.~ Then adding, ~of course they aren't, this ship is exactly as it was found.~ Out loud, "think Ainsleigh, think.".
She caught movement in her peripheral vision and turned quickly, seeing nothing. "Whose there?" she called out, rising from her seat. A cold shiver ran up her spine.
Ghosts?, but that was silly. This was a holo recreation. The more she thought about it, she wondered how K'ratak had put this together so quickly. She wondered where the Avitar had ended up. Then it dawned on her, there would be holoprograms of constellation class ships. All he had to do was download the personal items, the computer hard drive information, all the little things that made this ship the Avitar.
It would have been much faster to add real artifacts from the original ship. That thought brought back the chill. Shaking herself out of this unproductive line of thought, Ainsleigh got down to business.
"Computer," and this time she was talking to the holodeck's programming. "I need a science staff. I will be the CSO, Cadet 4th class McLeod. The staff is not to find my position unusual. Thery are to consist of a cartographer, a physicist, a chemist, a string theorist, a cronologist...", she listed several more specialties.
Suddenly her people began to appear. Soon the science department was a hub of activity. "Attention please," she called out. Her staff turned at the sound of their CSO's command.
"Ladies, gentlemen, we have a problem to solve. It will take all of you. The crew of this vessel has disappeared and we are going to find out what happened. Start with the obvious and work from there. Keep me informed." With that said, she dismissed them and returned to 'her' office.

Checking his data pad he realized the first unexplianable occurnce was going to happen soon. He wasn't sure to who the computer was going through the logs of the repair crew and coming up with ways to create them as they happened. The only thing was timing since most of the events happened when people were alone.
He had to admit he wasn't sure what he would have done if he saw it himself. He didn't beleave in ghost per say. He accepted the fact that sometimes you just can't explain everything anymore then somebody could explain faster the light travel 500 yrs ago. Sometimes science just isn't advanced enough to explain everything, Q was a perfect example of that.

Simon entered the sickbay still thinking of what K’ratak said ‘ “By the way thanks for the mission Idea at first I thought you were telling stories until I checked the records. Maybe one day you'll tell me what really happened instead of this classified stuff" Simon looking at him, “you know it is classified, that means I can not tell you, but the cadet’s may just hit on the same chain that we followed” turning to leave the bridge Simon smiled’ shacking his head at the memory he began to get the computer to create the staff that he had when they had arrived here, Simon was not going to interfere with the others investigations, not yet anyway.
As the medical staff began setting up and trying to access stored files and medical records Simon began to remember how he had felt when they had found the Avatar the first time, dead to all intent and purposes, and how his captain left a small team to get it home as he had cadets to get back to Earth. Walking into the corridor he made his way to the mess hall hoping to get a bite to eat and to see if K’ratak had recreated everything correctly. Sitting down to an empty table in the empty mess hall Simon began eating the small pack he would have had on that little side trip. Simon almost took a bite when he felt the ship rock as if an explosion had occurred jumping from his seat he instinctively made his way to Sickbay to prepare for possible causalities, walking down the corridor he passed Commander K’ratak. “Why aren’t you on the bridge, I would have thought after feeling that explosion you would be up there?”
<Tag K’ratak>
Simon felt hit back by the response, “but I could have sworn that the ship was rocked by some sort of explosion” confused Simon made his way back to sickbay, but before he got back he smiled.

Cadet 4th class Ainsleigh McLeod saw the holoprogram was extensive. She had a Vulcan doctor and a Denobian. Also she saw a rotund, older gentleman moving with purpose to his lab. Things seemed well in hand.
She went back to the CSO's offfice. After a few minutes reading the last entries in the log, she knew that she wasn't going to get her answers here.
She decided to check out the rest of the ship. Heading towards sickbay, and deciding that there were two basic options to start from. Either the crew had left willingly or had been unwilling participants in the evacuation.
She didn’t think they left by choice. If they had, they’d have left a report of what had happened. This happened fast. They hadn’t time to make reports or record the event.
McLeod found herself in the crew quarters and punched an entrance to have the door swish open. She stepped inside and felt as though she was intruding. Looking around at the personal items of a young officer, McLeod picked up a picture, framed in silver. It held the picture of two cadets laughing in each others arms. It was signed, "Love, Chris".
Images of Imad came to mind and once again she suppressed emotions she wasn't yet ready to deal with. Pulling herself back to the present, she continued staring at the picture.
Chris must have been the male for this room belonged to a Lt. Devon McAuliffe. Ainsleigh smiled at the name. This girl had similar ancestry as herself. She felt a kindred spirit and picked up the photo and carried it with her. ~I will find out what happened to you,~ she promised the girl in the picture.
Entering the next quarters, Ainsleigh found the same. They'd left everything. These people expected to return.
The cadet CSO stopped exploring crew quarters and headed towards sickbay. She needed to meet this Dr. Barnes. He was one of the original crew to explore this ship. Maybe she could pump him for information.
Coming around the curve in the corridor, McLeod spotted the Dr. He had a knowing smile on his face that made her wary.
"Dr.," she called out, trying to get his attention. Picking up her pace to catch him, she called out again. "Doctor!".

Looking at the Doctor with a questing gaze " I'm sorry Doctor but I didn't feel any explosion, none that I could find in the release logs"
He knew the Doctor knew more about the mission then anybody. He also knew some things had been classified, he didn't want to pust the doctor. " It might be the simulator just adjusting after all I had to put in alot of the logs that were kept. It might be trying to figure out a way to make some of those events happen. Although there was no imformation about explosions."
Standing there he was wondering how cadets were doing, After all fresh ideas ment new answers.

Ainsleigh caught up to the Doctor and decided that beating around the bush wasn't going to get her anywhere. Dr. Barnes was here for a reason and he probably knew more about this then anyone, so bluntly she asked, "Where did your investigation lead?"
The petite redhead didn't mince words and didn't wish to waste time on things that had already been ruled out. They were just cadets. She hadn't even attended her first class or been assigned to a training vessel yet!
The Doctor paused and looked her straight in the eye. The young cadet never flinched and returrned eye contact.

Simon looked round to see a young Cadet making her way towards him. "Where did your investigation lead?" Simon looked at the cadet while he thought. “I think for one you should carry this investigation out without any knowledge of how we went last time, also some of it is classified so I am not allowed to tell you.” Simon hoped his response did not hit the cadet to hard, but by this point the crew were already starting to get a little moody with each other.
“Do you have a medical concern or anything for me to look at? And just as a piece of advice, always start at the beginning sometimes the problem is easier to find if you go logically rather than straight to it” Simon chuckled As he waited for the cadet to responded ‘I gave that same advice when I was first on here, maybe we are following the same path’ Simon hoped they were not or he was going to be in trouble soon.

Ainsleigh wasn't really surprised by the doctor's response. This WAS a training mission and she was sure they wanted them to use their own initiative. She was just hoping to be able to eliminate some possibilies.
"No, no medical problems," then she let out a laugh, "at least not yet.". Anyone who knew the young cadet wasn't at all surprised to see her in a doctor's office.
Then on impulse, McLeod held up the picture of the young couple and showed /dr. Barnes. "Do you know who these are?" The question was simple, but it spoke volumes.

Walking the halls of the ship he caught a shadow of something, for a moment he could have sworn he saw somebody walking towards him in a out of date uniform. Remembering the reports in the logs he let a breath escape. Well that would get your attention thats for sure, it was gone.
Looking around well I find it easy to beleave that the ship would have ghost but why. Not to mention there was a reason but not one he could think of. Stopping for a moment he tapped his combadge " Computer scan Klingon records for a mention of this ship and down load to my pad" a few minutes later he had what he wanted with a small nugget of information.
It appeared the klingons had found the ship floating in space some time back. They went to investigate but lost the boarding party they were never heard from again. Now that is something wondering if the doctor knew he made his way to sick bay intime to see his cadet hard at work questioning the doctor. I'll give her credit for being clever thats for sure, it appeared she had done her homework.

The cadet caught movement from the corner of her eye, raising the hairs on the back of her neck. Turning quickly, she was relieved to see Commander K'ratak coming towards them.
~Get a hold of yourself! This ghost ship is getting to you.~ she chided herself.
Ainsleigh add the Klingon to her quest, "I was showing the doctor this picture. Do you recognize them?" She didn't really think he did, but it was another way to see if she could whittle some information from Barnes.
Through the entrance to sickbay, McLeod could see that the medical department was fully staffed. ~Hmmmm, he used the holoprogram.~
Just then her comm went off, "I have something I think you should look at," one of her officers said, rather breathlessly. Thinking to herself, ~either he is young, great programming, or maybe he found something.~
"Excuse me gentlemen. I best get back to the lab."

"Do you know who these are?" Simon looked down at the picture the cadet was showing him, “well, if I remember correctly the man is this ships CSiO, and the woman was his wife who he left pregnant on earth. But I am sure you could have got that from the records the ships computer still has” Simon was caught off guard when Commander K’ratak walked into sickbay. Thankfully the cadet pounced on the Klingon before K’ratak could question him. “I was showing the doctor this picture. Do you recognize them?” As K’ratak answered Simon turned back to looking though the medical records again. =/\=I have something I think you should look at=/\= Simon looked around to see the cadet prepare to leave, Excuse me gentlemen. I best get back to the lab." Simon nodded as the cadet left.
“Well Commander I am sure you wanted something, but once again I will not tell you anymore than you already knew. Though I must admit I was surprised that you got that photo into the system, I thought I had ensured no information about my great grandfather’s presence on this ship was left after Starfleet classified everything” Simon realised the Klingon officer looked shocked, then he thought ‘he did not know that picture and I are linked’ “well I am sure you did not come here to hear me rant, please give me a hand while you ask your questions” Simon pointed to the computer report on all the personnel on board.

Just before Cadet Mclead left for her station " Cadet I did some checking of my owne, It would appear the federation was not the first ones to find the ship. 5yrs before a klingon ship found the ship and sent a boarding party over. They never returned the captain being superstitious order the ship left alone. I down loaded the reports to your lab maybe you might find something there"
After the cadet left and Doctor Barnes dropped the bomb shell about the picture. " I'm sorry Simon I had no idea. You never said a word so I down load everthing detail I could get. If I had known I would have deleted that part. Now I understand why you are so quite on this matter even in just general terms. You know she might figure it out what happened I mean, fresh faces fresh ideas. "

Ainsleigh excused herself and turned to leave and caught the doctor's eyes on the photo she was holding. ~He knows more then he's saying.~ Making a mental note to run the picture through Starfleet archives.
A feeling she was being watched causing her to pick up her pace getting back to the science lab. The doors had no sooner swished open and a Lt. came running up to her, PADD in hand.
He started right in, "Look at this!" thrusting the PADD under her nose.
Ainsleigh gave him a slight cock of the head, "And you are?" she paused.
"Oh, Oh, I'm Lt. Devereaux, cartography," then he continued showing her his findings. "See, I went back to a week before the ship was reported missing. I plotted the Avatar's positions. Nothing unusual."
As he paused for breath, the doors opened again and another officer almost ran them over standing there in the doorway. McLeod reached out a pulled Devereaux out of the way. "Let's continue this somewhere else," and she gave the Lt. a 'this wasn't really a smart place to stand' look.
"Oh yes," the cartographer agreed, "it will be easier to show you on my charts."
The pair entered his lab to find the lights dimmed and a 3D hologram of an area of space floating in the middle of the room.
His fingers touched the console below the hologram and a yellow line showed the ship's movements in the week prior to its disappearance.
"Can you post the star names?" Ainsleigh asked.
As quickly as the yellow line had showed up, now in a neon blue, the names of objects in the visible field lit. She saw nothing that stood out. They hadn't traveled in a straight line and had gone into orbit around a class M planet, but she didn't say anything waiting for the young officer to continue.
Before he spoke again, a red line lit up. It ran straight from the Avatar's last known position to where it had been found. It ran straight and right through a star!
"See!," Lt. Devereaux pronounced. "If the ship had been unmanned, it could not have avoided a collision with this star!"
Ainsleigh was absorbing this as he added, "and there's more!"

"One moment," McLeod interrupted the cartographer's report, "Couldn't the ship had headed out in another direction and its trajectory and speed been effected by some gravity well?"
"That's what I want to show you!", the very excitable Lt. continued. I extrapolated all possible trajectories and none could explain this..." his voice trailed off as he worked on the console to enlarge an area on his 3-D hologram.
"See this here," he waited until Ainsleigh had acknowledge with a nod of her head. "Its empty space!". He stated it as if that explained everything.
"There are alot of areas of space that have little or no objects," she started to respond when the door to this lab opened and another Lt. entered carrying a PADD.
He handed the PADD to Devereaux, "This is all I could find. It's odd, I kept running into security locked files."
