After being rescued from the O’Ryan’s system the shipless Nevada crew is recalled from Starbase Assailant to San Francisco Earth for a complete debriefing. During the inquiry the senior staff are called upon to explain their roll in the destruction of the Nevada, the unsanctioned first contact and the events leading from that on the Draamar-Kreld homeworld.
But during the inquiry the committee seems to be biased and unwilling to accept their side of the story as the truth. The loss of a starship is not a small thing and neither is the unsanctioned first contact, but it all was mostly out of their hands, leaving the crew little choice.
But the committee is set to bring the Nevada crew down and soon the crew begins to have their doubts.
What’s going on?
While the committee discusses what course to take with the Nevada crew, they find themselves being confined to living quarters/apartment pending the results, with all their privileges and security codes revoked. Suspicions that not everything is working as it should be, and it’s time to do some investigating on their own before it is too late.
It doesn’t take long to find out someone has been fiddling with the evidence and has been manipulating the committee members.
But when they start digging deeper they learn that there is more at stake than just their own innocence. A conspiracy more sinister they could ever have imagined. All from the hand of a mysterious organization calling themselves the ‘Shadow Conglomerate’.
A shady organisation, secret and autonomous within the Federation with their own ideas on how things should be run.
Unknowingly to the crew the Nevada has interfered with one of their operations and with the destruction of the Nevada being an unexpected, but lucky, turn of the events they decide to get rid of the thread for good and discredit the crew.
But instead of taking the threat away they turn the Nevada crew into a threat by sparking their ‘private investigation’ as a result of their manipulation of the inquiry. Getting deeper into their investigation slowly things start to unravel. Learning who it is that wants them out of the way, they unearth an incredible plan. A conspiracy that would shake the foundations of the Federation and Starfleet itself.
With the Nevada crew realizing the truth, the Shadow Conglomerate are the more determined to end them with extreme prejudice, and most definite.
With a conference as a dead-line, literarily, the must race against the clock to stop the conspirators before it is too late. This all the harder since the senior crew ignored to remain confined, the Shadow Conglomerate not the only ones wanting their hands on them.
Please note that the mission will not officially start untill tomorrow evening/night after the prologues have been put up. Till then you'll have to do with reading the mission outline.
