Nevada Crew (and anyone else peaking in)
Like you I was disheartened when Harrias announced his resignation. I joined this ship almost two years ago, strait out of the Academy and Harrias was the Captain. We all developed many great memories under his lead. Several months ago I was approached about a possible FO position on another ship, I declined. The Nevada has become my online home, and I cannot see myself leaving her.
When Harrias resigned I was approached about taking his place. My first instinct was to decline again, at that point I was unable to see Melain as the leader of a crew and I was hesitant about my own abilities. However after “sleeping on it” I realized that my own inhibitions originated in a few bad experiences in RPG administration; on fledgling sites where a few bad apples had made my job difficult. S47 is a site whose design limits the spreading and development of “bad apples” and the Nevada is a ship staffed my simmers who I trust and have formed friendships with. I am already familiar with the set up of proboards and yahoo sites, and I have taken the CTC course. In the case of Melain I realized that she has successfully led a medical team for the past 20 months, and her own hesitations about her abilities are something I can use in my simming. Melain will find the adjustment difficult, she will rely on her crew, she will have difficult days ahead, but she will survive because I know her better then she knows herself.
I want to welcome all of you to a new era of the Nevada, however you will find it is not much different then the old one. I want to make this ship not MY ship, but OUR ship and assure all of you that my “door is always open”. If you have an idea for a mission, want to discuss NPCs, Character development, the running of the ship, or anything else please don’t hesitate to approach me (I know some of you already do), you can reach me by PM, E-mail or MSN (I believe I have all of you as my contacts).
As a final note I would like to say thankful to everyone who has shown me support in taking this position and my entire experience on S47, specifically Frek Thelev, Paul Drew, Harrias Jira and Alexis Loki.
Merry Christmas, and Happy Simming
Lorre Melain
