Starfleet Transmission
From: Section 47 Command
To: Commander Nack, USS Nevada-B
Classification: Unclassified
Commander, we hope you have found yourself welcome aboard the USS Nevada. Hopefully you have had time to get your bearings, as we have a mission of utmost importance for you and your crew.
Before the destruction of the USS Raven A, a bio-gel pack experiment spiraled out of control, causing the ship to become sentient. It was removed and allowed to survive in a facility on a Starbase through the persuasion of crew members. At this facility, research was conducted. The details of the experiment are classified, and will be sent in a separate transmission.
Four days ago, we've lost contact with this research facility. We have been receiving reports from Andorian freighters in the area stating that a Vulcan ship has been attacking passing vessels. The Vulcan government has acknowledge one of its ships has been missing. The weapons signature matches that of Vulcan starship, but the tactical maneuvers were recorded and analyzed to be specific to maneuvers used by the USS Raven-A. Therefore, we suspect the entity has escaped into this ship.
Your ship is chosen for this mission due to your proximity, and your crew. Medical and science teams are a necessity, since the bio-gel packs respond purely to biological stimuli. Your counseling team will be crucial for determining the nature of this ship's intelligence, helping you to predict future actions and reactions of this unique life form. The Nevada's large marine squadron will be essential for maintaining the security of the Nevada, and disabling this ship if it is found to be hostile.
We will also be sending you a mission specialist to assist your current engineering staff in devising a way to disable it.
One more item of importance. Commander Dan Trek will be your Acting First Officer for this mission. His experience in this matter is unmatched, as he was the engineer who implemented the failed changes on the Raven's gel packs. He shall be your greatest resource on this mission.
The entity must be sought out and returned to the research facility. Destruction of this entity is only tolerable if it is absolutely necessary.
Take the USS Nevada to the science facility first, and work from there. We expect weekly reports of your progress. Please be expedient, as we do not want to alarm the rest of our allies.
End Transmission.
