Post by SA. Duke Nova [Ret] on Jun 18, 2006 16:48:00 GMT
Nova lay unconscious and bound deep in the belly of the Klingon vessel near the refuge. The smells could be quite unbearable to most other specs. It seemed just another form of torture Nova would have to endure during his all expense paid cruse, planned for him by an unfriendly aquatint.
Nova started to move restlessly, his head tossing from side to side, as he began to regain consciousness. He suddenly became aware of the intense pain coming from his head and wrists. His fingers tingled and the muscles of his hands suddenly contracted with a pang of intense pain coming from his tightly bound wrists, which cut off the flow of blood to his hands. If that wasn’t bad enough he realized that the odder of the refuge was acting like smelling salts which might keep him totally aware of all his pain.
Duke tried to move, first to pull his body upright and then using the bulkhead to help him to stand. His head became fuzzy and he lost all strength from his effort and slipped back helplessly to the damp smelly floor. Duke also heard some noise coming from a short distance away and when he finally was able to focus again he saw a number of jackal mastiff or Klingon dogs lurking just outside his jail cell.
When his head finally cleared Nova began to wonder what had happened since he was taken and if his message got through or was he on his own. He also wondered where he was going and if the Orion Syndicate/Breen had any thing to do with this abduction. It seems that Nova had been a thorn in the side of the Orion Syndicate/Breen when he was a very young freighter pilot and on more than one occasion. Duke always wondered if they would ever try to even the score with him but only as a passing thought.

Nick sighed as Sonak introduced him to the new CEO.
"You're not serious," he said knowing the ramifications.
"Indeed I am, she's not ready yet."
He leaned back against the wall and scratched his head. This was not going to be pretty. Logan looked perplexed.
"Who's not ready?"
"Sarah O'Malley. This will be the second time she got passed up for promotion to CEO. She's the second in command in engineering." Nick said. Logan nodded and slightly grimaced.
"I'll let her know," Nick said, "Oh and welcome aboard," he shook Logans hand and walked out towards engineering.
~~~~
"What!!??" Sarah went balistic, a padd flew across the room at Nick. He shielded himself with a chair. The padd bounced off and smacked into the bulkhead beside him.
"It wasn't my call, Starfleet sent him. Sonak didn't even know until he got here."
Another padd flew across the room this time shattering on impact with the wall. A few cleaning bots scurried out of the wall, cleaned up the mess and quickly hid back in the wall.
"Be nice to him Sarah k?"
She sat down and sighed now defeated. "Ok."
~~~Iks Q'uija~~~
"Mistress we're in orbit around the remains of Praxis. Home base signals clear for docking."
"Take us in," the human female said coldly. Their hunt for Nova was going to be a tough slog. Rumors of the Syndicate being in the sector had traveled far and wide amongst the crews in the Klingon fleet. She would need a fresh crew and lots of weapons if that was who they were dealing with.
"T'Lana get us a crew of worthy warriors. T'ag put down the blood wine and get some food supplies," he burped in acknowledgment," Klang get the weapons stocked up."

Maverick sat in the marine briefing room contemplating on lt. branly’s huff and puff about the lack of team work and professionalism shown on there training sim in the holodeck; he also talked about putting aside petty defences and to start acting there ages. After his small ventting off of steam lt.brably left the briefing and headed to his office
“that went well” came chazz’s voice from behind maverick.
“you think?” asked trey
“You’re new so I will let that one pass; I was expecting him to line us up for a firing squad!”
“Really!... is he that bad?”
“no... worst” said gunner who was now seating next to him.
“yeah I think you’re right gunner, he must have been in a good mood today” joked chazz
“You HUMANS are way to caviller about your losses” came a deep klingon voice from the back of the room “and I don’t see why this BOY should even be here let alone lead a rescue mission” continued Dak.
“Am guessing it’s because the master chief said he could… I don’t know am just guessing here” retorted chazz
“ AND WHY IS THAT!? What’s so special about him?” asked the now enraged klingon
“Well according to his records here… I would have to say …a lot” answered Jasmine Ori who was standing at an information console, she then turned to face him sizing him up as if trying to compear the data on her screen to the young man seating in front off her
“well what is…?” ask chazz
“Well it say here that this BOY as dak puts it used to be a smuggler it also seem that he was involved in some incident on a moon that left many people dead and injured and WOW…..”
“ wow what ori dont leave us in suspense... what’s going on” asked gunner
“Nothing… its nothing” came treys voice who was now standing next to jasmine, “ I think that enough of my past for now don’t you think.” Said trey “any ways we should be trying to work on our team work and a new rescue plan” he added “you’re right… okay guys lest get started said jasmine as she and the others left the briefing room
Maverick stood looking at the screen and the information on it, he keyed in a few commands then left the room

Maverick walked into the locker room where every one was dressed in the blacks
“What are you waiting for hurry up and get dressed” said gunner as he and the others left for there training mission
“hey miss Ori?... can I talk with you a minute.” Asked trey, she turned to face him her green eyes steering into him
“yes… about what” she asked
“that data… I need you to keep what you saw in there under raps”
“and what if I don’t” she asked
“I just need you to… so will you?”
“lets talk about that later the guys are waiting for us...ok?” she said with a smile
“got you… cool”
[holodeck1]
“ok team lets do this and lets do this right, Ori you take point Dak pull up the rear… ok team move out” they made there way to the bunker but this time there was a few new surprise waiting for them
“Wait… am picking up bio-scanners in the immediate area” came chazz’s voice.
“how many” asked trey
“ they seem to be all over the place.. to many to say” “any thing else we should be looking out for” asked trey
“ yeah am also picking up land mines”
“damn… okay guys change of plans… we need a way to get through these mines with out these bio-scanners detecting us”
“so now what?” asked gunner
“I say we wing it”said chazz
”NO!... did you forget what happened the last time we winged it” said Ori
“she’s right… no mater how mush I want to, we cant we need a safer and more practical way to get through…”

*Looking for something I can't see, always a fun pasttime. Suppose I could pretend there's something there to be on the safe side. No that would mean too many reports to write up...*
Truth be told, L'Ola Kanz was finding it a little hard to concentrate. It wasn't that she didn't have anything to do, quite the opposite in fact. There was a lot going on that she needed to monitor, but something else that she wanted to monitor.
Something flashed on the monitor that made her smile. "Commodore, can I borrow your ready room for a second? I have a message to pick up."
"Go ahead, Commander"
She left the Bridge. As soon as the doors were closed she linked up the transmission. "Computer, decode transmission and set up for two way communication, access code Gamma Beta 6389 Iota Omega Mu"
"Code accepted, two way communication established."
Mareen's face appeared on the screen, "Hey GB, took you long enough"
L'Ola shrugged, "I was on duty. Got myself a Bridge job, didn't I."
"Don't remind me, you've brought shame to the whole family."
"Says the woman married to a Romulan whose family publicly disowned me years ago."
There was a laugh in response, "Mere technicalities"
The Commander turned serious for a moment, "So did you get anything?"
"I did. Took some effort, mind you. My contacts aren't what they used to be. Everything I have I'm sending to you now."
"Thanks Mareen! This is going to help so much."
Mareen raised her eyebrows for a split second, "Just sort things out, okay? And please try to hide where you got it. If my parents find out..."
L'Ola nodded in acknowledgement, "I understand completely. Can't have you being disowned as well. I'll see you soon."
"Good luck, GB. Qapla"
As the connection closed, L'Ola couldn't help but feel they were going to need more than a little luck. She flicked through the file that her sort-of-sister had sent. It was thorough, with an obviously scientific attention to detail. With relative ease she split the file in half and made it look like it was intended to be that way. Not that difficult considering people didn't usually pay much attention, and it was designed that way...
Back on the Bridge, she handed a PADD with the first half of the transmission to Sonak, "Here's what you were looking for, I believe."
Without saying anything further, she headed down to find Jared. Surely this new information would give them everything they needed.

As Byrne sat in the chair accross from the XO, he started feeling a little wierded out by the responces he was getting from the Commander. Who was the problem person they were talking about. Thinking to himself, he was sitting aboard a strike class vessel only 24 hours ago, and thinking they didn't know he was coming? This mission was classed priority one on the comm channel to Bellicose. And with his years of vessel knowledge, he knew he was the right person to take control of the new systems on this ship. Especially seeing where they were headed. "Commadore, if I may ask, what is the current standing of your crew? On the way over I read up on the roster and noticed a lot of promotions recently. Who is the current CEO that I would be replacing?", Byrne said matter of factly. "Commander, we are in the middle of a stessful situation right now, I do not know if you have been truely briefed on the nature of this mission, but assured, if all goes well, there will be significant recognition on this ship", replied Sonak. "Currently Commander O'Malley is the senior in Engineering, she will be your second in command for the length of this mission. There may be some tension, but I am expecting you, woith your record, to be professional enough to iron out any pettyness that may result from your transfer to this ship. Am I understood, Mr. Byrne?" "Aye, Commadore, duly noted, and whom do I see about quarters and getting an update on your mis-aligned cloaking field?", shot Byrne as he stood up. Unshaken, by the comment, Sonak just gave the 'your excused' look. With that, Byrne headed back out on the bridge to meet his new crewmates.

Once Logan had exited her readyroom, L'Ola wandered in and pressed a PADD into her hands, explaining that it contained information she might be interested in. Sonak accessed the stored file and frowned, then looked back up at her chief of security. "Do you expect me to read Klingon?" she querried, raising an eyebrow at her former first officer, "perhaps you could explain what your source discovered in your own words?" <how am I supposed to know what's on there > "Very well," Sonak continued as she got up from her all too comfortable seat, which especially now was rather comfortable. The two women stepped back onto the bridge, where Sonak noticed that Fox had taken his old place at the helm again during Trey's absence. "Commander Fox, ETA to rendezvous point?" she asked, knowing that the should arrive there any minute. "Commander Kanz, your information was rather vague about Admiral Nova's possible location. Prepare to go to multi-vector assault mode. Commander Martens, take command of Mercury. Commander Jared, you and Kanz take Discordia and follow your source's leads. Report back on what you find but do not take immediate action. I want all three modules present for a rescue operation." She turned back to Logan, who was about to enter a turbolift to head to engineering. "Commander Byrne, you will go with Commander Martens on Mercury. Make sure the cloaking devices run smoothly before joining him. We do not wish to risk detection unnecessarily, not of Mercury and Discordia. I want Minerva to decloak, so our contact can find us." Then she smiled ever so slightly. "See Quartermaster Eve Patterson about quarter assignment. I am certain she will have been notified of your arrival." (responses) ~~ Klingon vessel ~~ T'Ress continued to watch her prisoner from the shadows. Her last session with him had left him weak but he still seemed determined to remain on his feet. At last she decided to use another technique and she ordered her Targ to remain quiet while she stepped into the cell. Quietly, she helped her prisoner to his feet then pulled out her assassin's blade. It gleamed in the cell's bright light and for a moment T'Ress thought she saw fear flicker in his eyes. ~good~ she thought ~then we've got a start~ It was a pity really that she had to do this, but it was an honour to be selected. "Hold out your hands," she snapped as she flipped the blade around in her hand. "Good, you're very obedient for a fleet admiral. I had suspected one of your rank would be more...resilient and stubborn." In one swift motion she cut his bonds without so much as making a scratch on his tattered uniform. Almost gently, she ran a hand through his hair as if to straighten a stray lock of hair. In the mean time, she attempted to touch his mind. She'd inherited her telepathic abilities from her Vulcan father, but she was thoroughly untrained. Often enough a mind-touch to gain information was all she needed and it tended to turn out all right. This time, it brought her subject down onto his knees, screaming in agony. T'Ress blinked once then smiled and kneeled beside him, supporting him. "Are you in pain?" she asked, rather unecessarily. With one hand, she forced him to look up at her. "Good," she told him, "at least now I know you are not completely without fear." The Klingon woman leaned close to him, taunting and daring him to strike back. If he did, her Targ would attack, and if he didn't he'd be a coward. "Now," she started, "let's try this again. What were you doing in Klingon space and who was the message for?" She bared her teeth at him in the Klingon variant of a smile. "Yes, we intercepted your message," she lied, "and we will track down who it was for. You can tell me now, or I can pry the information form you. I doubt you will prefer the latter option." She openly played with her sharp blade, then suddenly backhanded him with the hilt. "Answer me," she snaped, suddenly no longer playful and nice, "my clients won't care whether you live or die. All they pay me for is to obtain the information they need." ~~ Vesuvius ~~ After issuing her orders, Sonak walked down to sickbay and knocked on the office of her CMO. "Doctor do you have a little time for me?" she querried as she stepped in, "I understand if you are busy but I am here for my check-up." She had always been under extensive medical control when she'd been pregnant, but after losing two babies early in her pregnancy, Sonak wanted to take no chances. And now at almost four months pregnant she wanted to be assured that everything was all right, especially when this child would be half human and not full Vulcan like her other children. Sonak hadn't told anyone yet, beyond her doctor and her husband, though she assumed people would start guessing really soon as it was already starting to show. "I am worried something may go wrong," she confessed to Hedin.

After Fox was done with his job in engineering he got back to the bridge. There he saw a familiar face. "Logan? What are you doing here? Haven't seen you in ages." he said smiling. Byrne explained he was assigned as the new CEO.
Then he walked to the helm console. Crewmen Tanner who had replaced Trey when he left the bridge stood up to free the seat for Fox. Not much after he had taken his place behind the console again Sonak stepped on the bridge and asked for the ETA.
Quickly he tabbed a few buttons on his console and turned around on his chair, facing Sonak. "ETA on the rendezvous point in 2 minutes and 35 seconds ma'am." he replied and turned back to his station.
Not much later the ship split up in its multiple sections. Immediately after the split was completed Mercury and Discordia cloaked, leaving only Minerva visible to arrive at the rendezvous point.

"You drink too much," Klang prodded at T'ag, who in turn too another gulp of his blood wine.
"And you worry too much," came the reply followed by a belch.
"Drink too much and you'll be destitute and honorless!" Klang blurted, his scrawny figure moving in agitation. His hand fidgetings. T'ag stood up at the challenge and stepped forward a few steps, which in turn made the smaller Klingon cringe.
"Who are you to challenge my honor k'pec! I should kill you right now, one who worked for the Ferengi in the war instead of fighting as a Klingon!" He withdrew his blade and reached back for a strike. Only he collapsed to the ground at the sound of a disrupter on stun.
"Don't agrivate him Klang," Kate said bluntly. She looked down at the unconious body of T'ag, who in turn started to snore. "Rest well, you're head will hurt more in the morning than any blood wine could do."
She turned back to Klang.
"I need you to keep away from him. You're hired because of your connections, not your fighting prowess. Don't make me dispose of you like the Ferengi you were found with."
"Yes my lady," he bowed and left the room.
A loud squaking filled the room.
/''\ Mistress, incoming communication for you/''\
"I'll be right up."
Stepping onto the bridge she ordered the viewer active. On the screen appeared a Green Orion who appeared more than agitated at the site of her.
"Breck how nice to see you again."
=What do you want Mistress, oh and it's good to see you alive,= He responded.
"You too. Now listen I'm in the market for some information. So far our leads have led us no where."
=You should know by now that I don't deal in information, only weapons and people. You're wasting your time. Try Daimon Mak, he'll be more usefull to you.=
"I already did, he insisted we talk to you about what we need. May I remind you that Romulan mind probes never lie. Surprisingly for a Ferengi he lasted 4 days before he cracked," she said non-chalantly while inspecting her finger nails. She continued, "Before he died he gave us a name, and that name just happened to be yours Breck."
The Orion sat there speechless, finally he mustered a reply.
=What are you looking for?=
"A fleet admiral."
=Those are hard to come by Mistress. Are you looking for any specific race or alliance?=
"He's a Starfleet Admiral named Nova. You've heard of him have you not?"
The green in the Orions face faded a little greyer.
=I've heard of him but I have no Admirals. If I hear of one I'll let you know for 30 bars of latinum=
"I'll give you 40 for the location as well."
=Very well. I'll be in touch Mistress. Breck out=
"Now we wait," she said looking back from her chair at K'Lana.

The seven of them got into a huddle to try and come up with a new plan of action, and they need to come up with one a.s.a.p because time was running short
“Ok chazz I want you to reconfigure your triquarter to follow the bio-scanners field of range and movements. Gunner I need you to do the same but to detect mines, the rest of us will be following your leads” Chazz and Gunner did as they were told and the team began to move. it did not take them long to get pass the mine field and bio-scanners and into the court yard. They were yet again surrounded by the lights and guards towers
“Ori. Dak, you both know what u have to do, when done meet up with the rest of us at the front door”. Dak and Ori made there way to there respective duties as the other five subdued the ground guards and made there way to the entrance. Dak took out the lights and ori the tower guards then made there way to the rest
“ok guys lets move out … and lets try not to make the same mistakes ok, Chazz, get that door open.” The team moved in, keeping an even distance of two arms length between them, the corridors were littered with more guards this time round making it a little hard to move. Staying in the shadow would be there best, bet but maverick had a better idea. He split the team up into teams of two.
“okay if we stay as a group we will be spotted so we need to break up into smaller groups of two”
“then that means one of us will be on our own… so who will it be”
“that would be u chazz…., gunner, dak you two team up, Trish & kel’vak, Ori & my self will make up the teams…, Chazz I need you to make your way to the main power generator and sabotage it, gunner, dak take out the security out post, kel’vak, Trish I need you guys to run interference, ori and I will head to the holding pen, okay move out”
The team broke up and made there ways to the respective duties dak’s team was the first to make it to the objective. They were able to subdue the guards and capcher there moniter room with ease
=/\= gunner to trey we have the watch tower=/\=
=/\= well done, from now on you are our eyes and ears, trey out =/\=
With gunner and dak at the watch tower it made it a lot easer for the rest of the team to move about , the next team to make it to there target was Trish’s team, followed by trey’s
=/\= trey to chazz am at the holding pen and the force-fild is still up, what’s the hold up=/\=
=/\= well I would have to say the number of guards, this is going to make it harder for me to get to the generator=/\=
=/\= understood, hold your position I will send u some back up trey out=/\=

L'Ola nearly panicked when she heard the words MVAM. But when she heard the crew distribution she realised that it might be for the best. She quickly headed off to pick up some vital supplies, who knew how long the modules would be separate, and then went to the nearest tertiary module access point.
After another quick stop in the cargo bay to dump her items she got to the module bridge. Jared was already there so she went straight to Tactical. Made more sense to have her working there than sat observing.
Downloading all the data they had from Mareen into her console she created a map to guide them in the right direction. "Ensign, I'm sending you co ordinates now okay?" She called over to the helmsman on duty.
Alongside this map, Kanz created another map. Anyone trying to remotely view her console wouldn't see it. There were advantages to inheriting a computer genius daughter, and this was one of them.
The second map contained tactical information that could possibly help in any circumstance they might find themselves in. It was also useful for determining whose sensor ranges they were in...
"Commander, I confirm that module split was successful and that all modules are headed on different trajectories." The helmsman reported.
"Acknowledged" Jared replied.
L'Ola was suddenly distracted by a flash on her console. Minimum distance had been reached. "Commander, I'm getting some pretty weird readings here. I think I'll go down to Engineering to see if there are any problems. Is that okay?"

'Commander, I'm getting some pretty weird readings here. I think I'll go down to Engineering to see if there are any problems. Is that okay?'
Jared nodded his consent and Kanz left. Eventually, Jared left the module in the capable hands of the duty lieutenant with orders to proceed to the rendezvous point at warp speed in 10 minutes. Jared took the tubolift to meet Kanz. As arranged, she was not in engineering but in the shuttlebay. 'I haven't seen this design before' she said 'It's unique. It's the Somma class test rig shuttle class. It's so we can test ideas without risking everyone on the ship. Intrepids and Defiants have their own test rig classes too.' 'It looks strange' Kanz noted She was right as well. The Somma test rig class had six nacelles and a shape a little like the shape of the ship the same way the type 9 looked enough like the Intrepid classes to be used the same way. Only the rear two were for general use, the other four were small and sunken into the side of the shuttle for test scenarios. Oddly for a shuttle, it sat on landing gear and the nacelles were mounted on the top of upward facing pylons like the Vesuvius's main nacelles. For lack of a better name, it was named Vesuviette. 'Does Nick know we have it?' she asked 'I doubt it. It was shipped in at the last dock as a replacement for a lost type 9. I would have told O'Malley or indeed Byrne, but it's not like they're going to use it whilst we have it.' Kanz nodded and entered it. The shuttle had a door either side of the pilots and a larger double door at the back. The basic idea was that if the shuttle should go wrong on a test then the spacesuited test pilots would just open the front doors and be blasted into space to await pickup. 'Where shall we go?' she asked 'To Starbase Multo' Jared replied, following her in 'I'm guessing it's not listed' 'Not a chance. It's good though' Jared placed his bag in the back of the shuttle with various odds and ends from the Vesuvius that it would be illegal to sell but very profitable. He took his little robot out of the bag and plugged a little screen into it. A map appeared which he read the co-ordinates of Starbase Multo from whilst Kanz flew the shuttle out of the bay. Various sensors had been turned off, disconnected or temporarily fooled to make sure noone noticed. Jared sat down next to her. The seats were larger than usual and equipped with retractable fighter plane style seatbelts. All in all it was probably be best choice shuttle for comfort on a long trip. 'Watch this' Jared said and pressed a button next to his console. A joystick appeared out of a blanked section just in front of him. He moved it around and the shuttle followed flawlessly. 'All the gadgets' he announced proudly. Behind them, Discordia blurred itself into warp. Kanz's tactical map showed that noone was close enough to see them on sensors. Vesuviette pulled itself into warp bound for Multo.

With the assistance of gunner in the watch tower kel’vak was ale to make to chazz with out any incident
“I was asked by Ensign maverick to assist you in you duties” came an expressionless voice from behind chazz he turned around to find kel’vak down on one knee be hind him
“do you always have to do that?” chazz asked
“do what?”
“Sneak up behind me… I could have hurt you”
“I do not think so, I had and still have the vantage point on you” said the Vulcan
“shut up kel’vak… ok you take the ugly ones and I will take the rest”
“They all seem to be very, how you put it, ugly”
“I know” said chazz with a big grin on his face “ok then we flank them” with that being said chazz let one of his flash grenades fly, “here goes nothing” and the to went into the blinding light with phasers blazing
=/\= trey to chazz progress report =/\=
=/\=all threats eliminated and the generator will be down very shortly =/\=
“Ori nova is in there”
“I kinnda figured that much with the heavy concentration of guards in the area”
“we need to do this quick once the generator is down we will only have a few minutes to get him out…oh and lest make it a clean one…it’s go time” he said as he smiled and winked at the orion marine. The lights in the holding block went down and the two of them could here the klingons scurrying around to find out what was going on. A few of them left or the generator room leaving the holding block with a hand full of guards
“This is it lets rock and roll baby… close your eyes” with that being said trey flung an optical Nero cortex flash grenade which put the rest of the klingons to sleep.
“what was that just now?” ask ori
“Oh just some thing I made up in science class” replied trey with a smile, she gave him a some what disconcerted look. Ori them turned on her night vision and began to lead the way.
“There he is in that sell he seems to be unharmed”
“Yeah I can see that and there is some type of animal with him as well”
“how could you see that with out night vision” she asked but he just smiled at her and said
“good eyesight I guess… now lets get the old man and get the hell out of here”
“but1st we need to do something about that beast” said ori
“just through him a bone… it will be fine that thing should be affected by my lil science project as well” they walked into the cell to find nova laying on the cold floor, trey leaned over to pick him up
“come old man it’s time to go home”
=/\= trey to team the package is secure lets tie up all lose end and get the hell out of here trey out =/\=

Nova believed that this Klingon female would say anything to get what she wanted but could he endure it long enough to find a way out of her clutches, he wondered? He also believed that his life was not as unimportant as she made it seem.
“Yes I always extend my hands to a lady when asked,” Nova said in jest. “Thank you for cutting my bonds, they were beginning to taking the feeling out of my arms,” Nova said still a little unstable.
“You know you are not that much unlike someone I once knew. She loved to get into my head as well,” Duke told her while still in extreme pain.
She was not unlike a girlfriend he had years ago named Rose who loved to use a mind control of her own. Duke believed that Rose inflected more mind pain on him than anyone else ever could. However, T’Ress was very good.
Nova drew all the strength he had to continue his game with this person who seemingly was trying to impress her Boss.
“I know a good dentist that could fix that smile of yours,” Duke said from the floor of his cell, still trying to remain in good humor.
“That message you speak of was my report to Section 47 on the Klingon ceremony I attended. I am expected to report in on a regular basis, as I am sure you already know, and if I do not then someone may come looking for me,” Duke informed his sadistic captor.

General K’Thor approached the rendezvous point where the Starfleet ship was to be awaiting his arrival. K’Thor possessed the data chip which Duke gave him only moments before his abduction by members of a new order of Evil.
The Order of Black Tal-Opal was a hardened group of operative rejects from numerous worlds as well as long time pirates. This group comprised of the Tal Shiar, Section 31, Obsidian Order, the Maquis and Orion pirate rejects to name a few. These male and females will stop at nothing to get what they seek.
K’Thor slowly brought his ship into the rendezvous zone with sensors tuned for a Federation ship.
“If this ship is indeed here, it is well cloaked for a Federation vessel,” K’Thor stated to his bridge crew.
The General waited for an hour, and then opened a hailing channel.
“This is General K’Thor, Captain of the Klingon Imperial Ship HoS MupwI', member of the Klingon Imperial Honour Guard. I am a long time friend of your Admiral Nova. If there is a Federation vessel here Respond!” K’Thor demanded.
==^== Silence ==^==
“Captain of the Starfleet vessel, I know your out there and you were told to await contact at this meeting point. Well I am here to make contact when you have the time,” General K’Thor said with a bit of sarcasm.

Sonak just arrived back on the bridge from her medical check-up and signaled to the officer manning the helm to disengage the cloaking device, and only Minerve showed up on the Klingon's sensors. Earlier, both Mercury and Discordia had warped off. "My apologies general," the Vulcan commanding officer spoke up, "we had to be certain that you were indeed our contact hence we remained cloaked and did not answer your hails. That, and I was in sickbay for my physical." She cast the Klingon a small apologetic smile, hoping it wouldn't put him off.
Gracefully, she rose from the centre seat. "I am Commodore Sonak Reckus, commanding officer of the USS Vesuvius-A. What you see here is only part of my ship. I have sent some of my senior staff away on the other modules to search for Admiral Nova. Fleet Admiral Arok has informed us that he has gone missing."
She watched the Klingon with a hint of curiosity. "You say you are a friend of Admiral Nova. Could you tell me why he was abducted and who may be responsible? It would aid is in our search for him if we knew what factions may be involved."
~~ On the Klingon vessel ~~
“That message you speak of was my report to Section 47 on the Klingon ceremony I attended. I am expected to report in on a regular basis, as I am sure you already know, and if I do not then someone may come looking for me,” Duke informed his sadistic captor.
T'Ress merely smiled, though she was less than amused at the admirals attempt at witty comments. "I already have a really good dentist," she shot back, "but if you think he's not doing a good job..." She made a show of inspecting her teeth in the reflection on her blade, then shook her head. "No you're absolutely right.....I do need a new dentist."
Then she stopped smiling, her eyes filled with controlled anger when she looked down on him again. "I have had no reports of your people starting a search for you." Then his answer sunk in and her eyes widened with surprise. "Section 47 you say? My my then I really have a prize on my hands here. If you are from Section 47 then you are no fleet admiral...indeed no then your rank insignia indicate you are the section admiral!"
She slowly caressed his cheek and her smile brightened. "Yes, that little bit of information was very valuable indeed. So that message was a report? I sincerely doubt that, otherwise you would not be here on my ship, subjected to my mercy."
T'Ress liked his spirit, but knew that soon he'd break. He'd already proven that he was physically weak though T'Ress was certain that he used to be well trained in his peak days. "No my dear admiral, nobody will come looking for you just yet.....and Starfleet will not answer to ransom demands either, not even for you. Now, lets see if what you speak is indeed truth. And lies will be paid for dearly, trust me."
The Vulcanoid Klingon moved towards Nova again, and placed her hand on his temple, easily finding the katra points despite being an untrained touch-telepath. She signaled her Targ to remain where they were, but to attack if she were to be in danger.

The little ship named Vesuviette swept out of warp alongside a large but clearly not Federation station. A stylised bear paw symbol adorned various panels of the station. Ships of all shape and size were moving around it: most were transports and freighters, some were warships and others were recognisable as designs of the major powers around. One was clearly a Bird of Prey and next to it was a Romulan scout. Neither were marked as belonging to any official group though. At the far side of the station a large ship transport pulled out of warp. It looked basically like a cab with a long rack for smaller ships to dock firmly onto and then massive engines at the back. Had Jared and Kanz been closer, they would have recognised one of them as being a design not a million miles away from the Singing Soil.
Soon, three brown coloured fighters with a slightly bird like appearance and also with the bear paw motif flew near to the shuttle. Unidentified Federation vessel, what is your business here?' they demanded Kanz looked at Jared expecting an explaination. 'Federation citizens aren't generally allowed or able to come here. Starfleet is wholly unaware of this station. That's why they built it in the middle of nowhere' Jared pressed the comm system to reply 'I am Commander Jared and with me is my first mate L'Ola Kanz. We're coming to trade' 'What is your cargo?' 'Odds and ends, technology and secrets' 'Roger, proceed to dock'
Eventually the Vesuviette was ushered into one of the smaller bays by the landing control tower. 'That was easy' Kanz remarked 'They're used to people stealing Starfleet equipment to sell here. That's why they don't shoot on sight'
The two made their way to one of the many amusement areas. There in one of the bars they were approached by someome. Jared could see Kanz do what most people did when first seeing this race; try to guess the gender. It was mainly because the person looked like a human but was slightly smaller than average and seemed to be half way between the two. Jared knew this person, their gender and their race, but he wasn't going to spoil Kanz's fun. 'L'Ola Kanz, this is Arayene Berone, an old friend. Arayene this is L'Ola Kanz, my first mate on the little shuttle' Arayene waved a hello to Kanz, then turned to Jared. 'Reman, I saw you were here on the station's inflight logs. If you want to trade then I have the deal of a lifetime for you. Perhaps you should come back to my place to discuss it' 'Given the way you said that, I'm guessing you mean just me' Jared replied 'I'm sure you'll be fine here' Arayene said to Kanz 'the barman's such fun.' 'I'm sure he is' Kanz replied 'Now, now, Arayene, I'm here for business, not fun. We need information and passage to where the information should leave us.' 'Well I'm sure you'll understand I can't stand here giving out secrets and not to anyone I don't know' Jared turned to Kanz 'Would you mind? I'll be back soon enough' 'Leave me money for a drink then' Kanz protested 'I'm guessing credits are no good here' Jared handed her two things. One was a sizeable amount of money, the second was the handle to a knife. It was blue and looked like an elongated stanley knife handle with a large but flat pommel. He spoke fairly quickly and quietly. 'Squeeze both black buttons on the pommel to activate or deactivate. Mind your fingers, it'll cut most things. I've given you 500 argent there and a drink should cost three decimals, so you'll want 7 dec change from an argie piece. The people in brown body armour with all the weapons are the police here and don't want to see their station damaged. Any problems just go to them. Say no to anything you don't like and the people with red flowers in their clothes are prostitutes so don't talk to them.' Jared left Kanz to it and went off with Arayene. Behind him, Kanz turned the knife handle on. The stanley knife similarity contintued as a blade shot out which was a few inches short of the length of the handle. It was only two thirds of the thickness though and had no shape edge. However, as it flashed into position, a thin green glow appeared around where the sharp bit would be and at the end. Kanz noticed that there was a little line of green that had just appeared on the pommel part. Guessing it was the battery life she turned it off again.
<Kanz>
A few hours later Jared returned to find Kanz chatting and laughing with some of the patrons of the bar and two of the police. Somehow she had managed to find something in common with a few smugglers and the enforcement personnel of one of the largest Venturer groups there was. She seemed a little on the happy side of tipsy and one of the policemen was about to buy her another drink. 'Having fun?' Jared asked her, then 'No, not another one for her thank you, constable. We have things to do' <Kanz>
With Kanz having said farewell to her new friends, the two went on. 'So...?' Kanz asked in that way women do 'So I have information and a new ship' 'Alright then, tell me about it' 'Well the Hedgehog passed through here not that long ago. There was only one passenger and according to the station manifest she met with a group of Tellerites, humans and Cardassians and headed for the jump zone in a Galor class named the Black Adder.' 'Jump zone?' 'Well from here to the Venturer strongholds takes years at warp. However, there is a wormhole which cuts the time down to a matter of weeks. It is controlled by a group called the Old Ones and they don't want anyone to know what it looks like or its exact position. So, in order to use it you have to fly to the edge of the zone, contact the Old Ones and they come out to pick you up. They shut your ship down, tow you to the wormhole, take you through and then to the edge of the jump zone the other side. Then they turn your ship back on and you go off on your way' 'Seems a bit complicated' 'Well everyone needs something to make them powerful. The Old Ones are the most powerful Venturer group there is.' 'Ooh'
The pair arrived at another hangar bay. They entered. Inside was what looked like a large shuttle crossed with a Winnebago. It was most of the way through the process of being painted black. It stood about 60 feet long, 15 feet wide and 15 feet high. It was resting on four landing gear which folded out of the bottom and had nacelles built into the frame like the Defiant class. 'What is it?' Kanz asked, poigniantly 'This is the Lady Verander. It was a luxury shuttle designed to take diplomats long distances. It can travel at warp 9 for some time and the interior is designed for comfortable living on the journey' 'So why is it here?' Another good question 'One of the design engineers stole it and sold it.' Jared shrugged 'After that the project was discontinued due to the security risks' 'So we're borrowing it...?' Kanz asked, suspecting where this was going 'No, I own it now' and there it went 'Surely WE own it' Kanz pointed out 'I traded the shuttle for it so it's mine' 'You traded the test rig!?! Won't people find out about the Somma class?' 'Nah, the shuttle design is unique. That's why people want it. They all know about the Somma class by now anyway' 'Either way, you didn't own the shuttle so you can't own the big one' 'According to the law of this station I was the commander of the shuttle so I own it either because I bought or stole it. Unless someone challenges me for prior ownership, noone cares' 'Aw' 'On the upside, if anyone does want it back, you won't be responsible.' 'True. When do we leave?' 'When they finish painting'

The view screen came alive with K’Thor on his bridge. “Greetings Commodore Sonak it is good to see you at last. Nova has told me much about you from time to time. It seems he thinks highly of your skill as a Captain and you will need that and much more if you are to succeed in your mission.” K’Thor said in a gruff Klingon voice. “Yes I can but first I am transmitting you the data Admiral Nova ask me to deliver. In it you will find a DNA trace from Nova and the specs of a Falconian transponder which Duke had implanted under the skin of his left forearm. A gift from his friend Hawk, which can transmit over a vast distance, However you will need to find a way to modify your equipment in order to receive the signal.” K’Thor explained. “What modifications are needed?” Sonak inquired “I do not know. However, I can tell you that it does transmit a weak Starfleet signal that can be received within a few light-years only. Falconian technology is quite advanced so I hope you have some good people aboard your ship,” K’Thor said in a Klingon jest. “I assure you General that my crew is top notch and very capable at their jobs,” Sonak insisted. “As for your other question of whom… I can only tell you that Nova believed it was a group called, The Order of Black Tal-Opal, a group of highly trained assassins and spies. Duke believed they were connected to the Orion Syndicate at one time.” K’Thor instructed. “What is Admiral Nova’s connection to these people?” Sonak inquired “I am sorry Commodore but I have told you all I can. The Klingon Empire can not get any further involved in this matter. Good Luck Captain and I will be watching.” K’Thor said as their ship vanished from sight.

With the sounds of seperation coming, Byrne rushed to the auxilary engineering to work on the cloaking program. Now if he could navigate the hallways without calling the computer to high-light the directions. Coming upon the doorway, he ran smack into Fox, almost knocking him over. "Sorry, Commander, head in clouds, happens", chuckled Byrne as he steadied Fox. "Listen, I have been bouncing the math and I think if you elevate the polarization of the plating, you can knock off the interference causing the neutrino leakage. Here's the specs, beaming back to the Mercury to finish learning where everything is." With that Byrne rushed to the transporter room and boarded the Mercury section of the ship. Dreading the confrontation, Byrne headed to the engineering department to introduce himself to Lt.Commander O'Malley. After stopping at his quarters, he grabbed a cup of coffee from a nearby food replicator and headed down to two decks to meet his temporary crew. And this with the forethought in his mind that they got him, not the other way around, he needed their respect, spite his record. Reaching the engineering deck, Byrne braced himself for the worst, but as soon as he cleared the bulkhead, he was rushed by a female with her hand out. "Been waiting for you, sir", said the woman. "Ensign, thank you, but I will need that back", as he looked down at his hand. " Plus, your shaking my coffee", smirked Byrne. As he looked around, he could not believe the interfaces on the walls that surrounded him. "Ensign?", asked Byrne, "Do you know where I can Lt. Cmdr. O'Malley?". And at that moment, a PADD came flying across the pool table, with a woman yelling, "You did WHAT?!". Only thought going thru Byrne's head was, guess she got the news. "Ensign, could you tell the commander, I am here?". <Tag Martens>.....

“I am sorry Commodore but I have told you all I can. The Klingon Empire can not get any further involved in this matter. Good Luck Captain and I will be watching.” K’Thor said as their ship vanished from sight.
"Of course they cannot get involved any further," Sonak almost seethed, much to Harper's surprise, "they would be condemning their own people. Why would they not, for once, come clean about certain issues."
Mark Harper shrugged. "Because they're Klingons?" he suggested.
Sonak sighed. "Yes that may very well be it," she agreed, "Ensign o'Shasserra follow Mercury's course, we are going to meet up with them. Make certain we remain cloaked at all times, our chief engineer is currently not present to fix any malfunctions."
o'Shasserra smirked back at his commanding officer. "Certainly ma'am," he replied, "course laid in and engaging. ETA to Mercury is 4 hours."
"I suggest you take the time to go and have a bit of rest," Harper suggested, "I doubt Doc Hedin will like you remaining on the bridge for this long, especially in your current condition."
"My condition has nothing to do with me doing my job," Sonak retorted, "I am not ill, nor am I in any way indisposed. I am only four months pregnant, that is all. But," she held up her hand to silence her executive officer, "I will go to the holodeck and relax for a little while. Contact me when we reach Mercury....oh and keep an eye out for K'Thor's vessel. He may be on our side for now, but you know how Klingons are. Even though he is our section admiral's best friend, I do not trust him."
"yes ma'am," Harper replied, almost shooing her off the bridge. He already knew he wasn't going to call her if anything came up, she worked too many hours as it was already. Jatan had complained to him about how little he saw his bondmate.

The marine’s holodeck session was a success and with it came a new enthusiasm for the up and coming mission to find and rescue Section Admiral Duke Nova. The team left the holodeck and headed to the debriefing room to analyze the there strategies, team work, and notes. The team was still giving trey a hard time mainly because of his youth but that didn’t seem to bother him must this time round. The Vesuvius was now in Multi Vector Assault Mode and trey was stuck on the Mercury Module. This had been is first time seeing the ship go into M.V.A.M. after his debriefing he made his way to the mercury’s bridge, where he found commander nick Martens heading things. The mercury’s bridge was a lot smaller than the Minerva’s.
“Permission to take the helm sir” trey asked with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in his voice. The commander gave him a nod, and with that he headed to the conn.He was doing rutting checks when he detected the Minerva on there trail
“commander long range sensors have detected the Minerva on our trail”
“E.T.A Ensign”
“three hours till contact sir… would u like me to send them a message sir?”
“no… the fact that they have come after us can only mean that they have found some leads”
“aye sir… so what’s our next move?”
“I want you to drop out of warp but keep the mercury cloaked, we wait for them to arrive.”
“aye sir.”

"They what!!??" Nick looked at his monitor in shock. On it was a small vid window with Sarah on it. She had just informed him that his new prototype shuttle had disapeared.
"When!? WHO!!? I swear I'm going to hurt whoever took my new shuttle."
=/\=As far as I can tell the logs say Kanz and Jared took it out for a spin.=/\=
"Ok. Mercury will take care of tracking them. See you soon."
He punched in a series of commands into his console. Soon a blip was on the screen marking the position of the shuttle. He spun out of his chair and headed for the bridge. The doors parted and he stepped out in a determined stride.
"Helm set a course for these coordinates," he punched a button on his padd and started pacing the bridge.
"Course laid in sir."
"Engage."
~~~elsewhere~~~
Breck sat at the pilots seat in his new shuttle. The databanks had been purged by the previous owners, which didn't matter much to him anyway. Everyone had a copy of the Starfleet database, last thing he needed was another copy of it.
A light started beeping on the consol next to him followed by a sharp couple of beeps. Not really paying attention to what it was he shut off that panel and kept on his course.
~~~Mercury~~~
He pulled up the specs on the new shuttle. Just comissioned from Starfleet command to be tested on the Vesuvius. They were considering using it for fast recon and attack missions. Fast, armed to the teeth and unlike anything out there.
"ETA is 20 mins sir. Cloak is still active."
"Thank you lieutenant."
What had Jared and Kanz needed the shuttle for? He wasn't quite ready to comission court martials just yet as they probably had a theory on finding Nova. Everything had a reason.
"Entering system now," the helmsman informed him.
"We're picking up a Klingon Bird of Prey. It looks like the shuttle is docked with them. No human life-signs," the science officer looked up at him with a sad look on his face. Nick felt the muscles in his neck tighten up. ~someone is going to pay for this.~
"Drop cloak, raise shields and arm weapons. Lets give them something to think about."
The Vesuvius dropped out of cloak and fired a couple rounds into the decloaked Klingon vessel. Seconds later the Klingon ships shuttle bay opened and their shuttle tubled out. Just a quickly the Bird of Prey cloaked and jumped to warp.
"Beam the shuttle into bay 2 and have a security team meet me there." He whirled out of his chair and grabbed a phaser from the storage locker at the rear of the bridge.
~~~shortly~~~
Breck stumbled out of the shuttle to catch his breath. ~She is going to pay for that~ he thought. He looked at his frostbitten hands and growled. He'd barely made it into the shuttle when she decompressed the shuttle bay. He notice a pair of boots in front of him, he looked up to see a Starfleet Security team pointing phaser rifles at him. He sighed and sank to the deck, hands behind his head.
A loud 'blech' broke the thrumming of the bridge.
"Incoming transmission!" T'lana informed her.
"On screen."
Breck appeared wearing a new set of clothing and was sitting in what looked like a Starfleet shuttle. Only it didn't look like anything she'd ever seen. Obviously new.
"Breck how nice to see you again," she said sarcasticly.
=I've got some information for you. I can't transmit it, not safe. I'll meet you at these coordinates.=
"We're recieving them," T'lana updated.
=Be there in two hours or deals off.= The screen went dead and Kate motioned for them to get moving.
"Activate cloak and engage."
~~~~
Breck stood nerviously by the hatch of his shuttle waiting for the Mistress to get to the shuttle bay. He tapped the padd in his hand against his large leg. Despite being a 7 foot tall orion he was quite nervous about suddenly owning a Starfleet shuttle.
The shuttlebay doors opened and Kate walked through with T'lana and Klang. They stood on either side of the Mistress with disrupters.
"You have something for me Mr. Breck?" Kate asked probingly.
"I do, payment first of course," he motioned with one hand for payment. Kate tossed him a bag of latinum. He handed her the padd in return. She passed it back to T'lana as she'd just realised Brecks shuttle was Starfleet in origin. She placed a hand on the hull and started tracing the curve of the hull with her palm.
"Lovely ship," she complimented. She stopped at the registry number and took a step back to get a better look.
"Vesuviette Nx-750024-A," she muttered to herself. "Vesuvius!? You stole this from the Vesuvius!?" She turned to Breck who looked shocked and stunned. Kates eyes burned with fire at him. "VESUVIUS!? You idiot do you have any idea how stupid you are!?"
A klaxon sounded loudly and the ship shuddered.
"They followed you here! You idiot you're going to get us all killed!!"
/] Mistress! The Vesuvius has just dropped out of cloak and has opened fire on us!/] the bridge reported. Another round impacted the ship sending them staggaring.
"I'm on my way," she turned to Breck, "Get off my ship!"
She closed the shuttlebay doors and decompressed the shuttlebay. She bolted for the bridge, T'lana and Klang following close behind. The bridge was getting smoky as a couple consoles had exploded.
"Get us out of here! Engage Cloak!" she ordered taking her seat and pulling down the periscope. The Vesuvius shrank in the distance and didn't seem to be following.
"Damage report?"
"Only minor hull ruptures on the neck and port wing. We can still maintain cloak and warp speeds."
"Good, set a course in to this position. I'll be in my quarters. Do not disturb me!"
She pushed up the periscope and stormed off the bridge.

=^= On the Klingon Vessel =^=
It was now very clear to Nova now that this Klingon hostess was merely an uninformed puppet. Someone else is it at the bottom of this abduction Nova thought and Duke was afraid he would find out who the hard way if he was not found soon. Duke could only hope that Sonak’s engineering and science teams could decipher the Falconian transponder device in time. It did not use standard subspace carrier waves as Starfleet knows it and could be very difficult to figure out.
T'Ress mind probe was quite painful and Duke was not sure how long he could withstand it. Duke also knew that he had only two other options, one was to escape this garbage scowl on his own, which was not likely or hope that Sonak’s people was able to find the hidden message he sent along with the transponder specs.
This message was coded and encrypted for “Captains Eyes Only” and detailed instructions for Sonak to go to a planet deep in the Beta Quadrant and for her to pose as a Vulcan Master. If Nova’s plan B worked, he would be brought to her by his captors.
There seems to be some kind of mind block that T’Ress was unable to get through as she probed Nova’s mind. Nova yelled out in pain as she probed harder.
“It seems that your boss did not wish you to know who I really was,” Duke told her, “Hoping to get you to do his dirty work for less than I am worth I will wager.”
She made her mind probe even more painful but it was draining her strength as well.
“Tell me what I want to know and the pain will stop,” T’Ress ordered.
“I can not since I possess a Vulcan mind block,” Duke said still in tremendous pain, “There is only one person I know of in this quadrant that can remove this block.”
“Tell me quickly or you die now,” T’Ress said as she put her knife to his throat.
“She is a Vulcan Master living in solitude on the planet…” Nova passed out before he was able to reveal the planets name.
T’Ress screamed in anger that he did not reveal the planets name and stomped off leave Nova time to recover.

~~ Minerva ~~
Sonak gazed down at the PADD in frustration. Even getting away to the holodeck to be alone with her thoughts didn't help. She couldn't read Falconian and the language was so...ancient that even the universal translator wasn't much help. There was a picture of the beta quadrant and there was only one word she recognized in the message, that matched a planet on the map she was facing: Tiburon.
Impatiently she slapped the PADD into the palm of her hand and leaned back against the palm tree. "Why on earth did he write the message in Falconian?" she mused. "knowing that we would not be able to translate it." She knew, of course, about Hawk and remembering him made her decide to send him a message, while she waited for Minerva to catch up with Mercury.
"Computer end program," she stated and exited the holodeck. Back in her quarters, she first sent a message to both modules to rendezvous at the planet Tiburon, deep in Klingon space, explaining she had a hunch they had to go there. Next she fomrulated a message to Commander Hawk aboard the USS Majesty, asking for his assistance in translating the message that had been sent by Nova.
~~ Klingon Vessel ~~
T'Ress flung herself into her seat, seething. "That...that..." she seethed, not even able to get out the words. "I'll get him for that," she murmured as she tried to filter out the information she'd gained through the mind meld. "Only one woman can remove the block," she murmured, "a Vulcan Master...but on what planet does she live and why?"
After giving Nova some time to recover, she motioned two very junior Klingon officers to fill a large bucket with ice cold water. To her surprise, her prisoner was well on his way to recovery but he seemed to be meditating as he was sitting very quietly and seemingly relaxed in the middle of his cell. She could tell by his expression that he was suffering, and she wasn't sorry that he was. ~he should've co-operated~ she thought grimly as she motioned her two lackeys into the cell to upend the bucket over Nova.
Pleased with the result, she moved in. "The planet and the Vulcan's name," she asked, rather sweetly, showing him her sweetest smile, "tell me and I'll leave you in peace. If not..." She left her threat hanging as she kneeled before him.
