The door chimed.
<Come in> Claire heard.
"Ah counselor, " doctor Reckus said slightly surprised when he saw Claire enter, "what brings you to my humble quarters?" he smiled.
"We're off duty, so call me Claire, however I'm here because of a concern of someone," she said while looking seriously at Jatan, who nodded in agreement.
"It's about the commodore. The last few days she's been acting very strange, and she looks different." Claire paused, then sighed: "I don't know if you noticed too. Not only are you a doctor, you are also one of the persons most dear to her..."
"Go on," he said when the counselor stopped, "take a seat." He noticed she was a little upset.
"At first I didn't pay too much attention to it, yes, sometimes you can have taste for something unusual, like in her case, bloodwine. But then she keeps her eyes half closed, bothered by light. Because the bump on her head when she was attacked on starbase Bellicose, I thought. But yet by now she would be healed. And if you take a closer look into her eyes they seem... brighter, hypnotic I don't know how to explain, maybe it's me."
Jatan stared at her, but stayed silent, so Claire decided to continue.
"And her hair, it looks more red and has more volume... Each time when she's around I feel strange, as if I'm targeted or, or spied on... Maybe she's using some drug, or something, I don't know," she sighed after confessing her concerns.

After sitting in the centre chair of the bridge for a while, trying to ignore the brightness of the lightning, she finally reacted. "Computer, dim lights 20%," she ordered, ignoring the quizzical look on her first officer's face. Instantly, the lightning on the bridge dimmed considerably.
Sonak sighed. No new orders had come through yet, so she had ordered her CNO to take the ship back to Bellicose at a leasurely pace. She moved restlessly in her seat, and finally, she got up. "I am going to find Claire," she told Fox, "you have the bridge."
She left the bridge and went in search for the Bajoran counselor, and found her in sickbay, in conversation with her CMO. She hesitated, she did not wish to bother her love with her problems, but she thought her counselor knew something and she wished to know what she knew.
"Claire!" she called, waiting at the sickbay doors, "could I have a word with you please? Its quite important."

<Back in the Engineering Office>
Nick and L'Ola stayed silent for a few minutes after Sonak left the room. Both were trying to take in what she had told them to do; it was an extra spanner in the already partially broken works.
L'Ola stood up slowly, "I guess we should go then."
She didn't get a verbal reply, just a half-hearted nod from Nick who followed her out.
It seemed like no time at all had passed before they reached the entrance to the Brig. L'Ola looked up at Nick and then back to the door, which she opened and walked in.
She told the security guard on duty who she was looking for, and headed towards the correct cell, Nick following most of the way.
She took a deep breath after which she coughed to get Kate's attention. "Hi, I'm L'Ola Kanz..."
Kate looked at her, "Well you obviously know who I am or you wouldn't be here. Are you a counsellor?"
"No, I'm the Chief Science Officer. We just came to talk to you really."
"We?"
At that point L'Ola turned round and saw that Nick wasn't there. She went back round the corner, motioning for him to come with her.
"Anyway, as I was saying, we just came to talk to you really."
She stepped back to watch the reaction.
<Nick/Kate (Yeah I know you're on LOA but I'm out of ideas at the minute)>

Nick rounded the corner after being coaxed by L'Ola, his palms gripped so his nuckles turned white. The last thing he wanted to be doing was talking to his ex-wife, yet L'Ola and the Commodore had insisted that he go. There sitting on a bench with her head bowed was Kate. Before Kate looked up to see who had arrived she new exactly who'd come around the corner. A surge of emotion coursed through her and try as she may it wasn't going to surface. Her cobalt eyes didn't betray any hint of resentment or pain as she looked up at the two officers. "You don't have anything better to do?" She probed the two. L'Ola looked at Nick then back at Kate when he didn't say anything. "Are you always this stubborn?" Nick shot at her, "Or is the fact that we don't stop bothering you." "It doesn't bother me my love," the title obviously caused annoyance in the engineer, " I do, however, grow weary of this useless prattle about why I did this or that." L'Ola stood in the middle of the battle trying to fend of the intense flury of emotion which flooded around her. With each response was an equal dose of hatred or spite, ocasionally a twinge of Love was sensed but quickly smothered. Then something twigged. "Alright enough!" L'Ola yelled putting her hands up between the two who were now standing face to face. As fast as she yelled she grabbed Kate by the collar and hefted her against the nearest wall. Nick just stepped back and crossed his arms, a smirk began creeping across his face. "What were you doing at Amnitia?" L'Ola asked her eyes locked on the woman whom she held against the wall. She waited for a reply, and when she got none her grip loosened and kate hit the floor, hand rubbing her neck. L'Ola stepped back and cracked her knuckles. "I was told to be there," came a wheezed reply, "The council thought it important that I stop you. Evidently it didn't work." Her eyes looked at the two officers standing in the doorway of the cell. Beyond them she noticed the static barrier was down. With a burst of energy she lunged into the two and sailed into the main area of the brig. She saw her chance, crawled off Nick and began her dash for the door. As the doors parted and freedom looked iminent an arm hooped around her neck and pulled her back into the room. "Not this time," came the strong voice of the engineer, "You're going to answer every question." "You'll have to kill me then because I won't answer," spat Kate. "Very well," Nick said and tightened his choke hold on Kate. Seconds later she fell limp to the deck her face slightly blue. L'Ola rushed over and felt for her pulse. "She's dead," she reported looking up in shock at Nick. He smiled, pulled a device out of his pocket and stuck it to Kates chest. He then opened his tricorder and a pulse restarted her heart. Kate rolled over wheezing for air. Nick bent over and whispered in her ear. "Taking things to the grave doesn't seem like much fun now does it. We can make you come back as many times as we want." "Alright, fine you win. I'll talk," She said between deep breaths.
~a couple hours later~
L'Ola and Nick stood in front of the Commodore in her office. The lights were strangly dimmer than normal but she apparently had a headache. She surveyed the padd of information and nodded in aproval. "It seems that this council is in attempting to stop a future they don't like. Well lets give them a run for their money," Sonak said with a wry grin. She reached up and rubbed her neck, "You two are dismissed, good work."
"Thank you ma'am," they responded in unity.
"Oh and Nick could you stick around for a moment." Sonak asked. She watched as L'Ola whispered somthing in his ear and walked out. "I'd just like to thank you for conducting this investigation. I know how hard it's been for you." Sonak said.
"It wasn't easy but it provided some closure. Thanks for your concern ma'am. I must be on my way now, it seems I have a date to attend to." He said with a bow.
"Very well commander. Keep up the good work."

Sonak stared after her chief engineer and shook her head in misery. She had hoped he would have stayed for a moment. Soon, she would need to get down to sickbay again, but she feared that Reckus might grow suspiscious by now and she feared that if she told him about her current condition, he would turn away from her. He had accepted the care for her children, no questions asked, but she knew he would ask soon, and he would accept an answer. One she could not deny him.
She looked up and stared at the PADD in her hands, not feeling up to reading Kate's confession. She already knew that Kate was ordered to destroy this crew at all cost, and she also knew that, if they allowed Kate to escape, it may even come to that.
Sonak felt miserable. "Claire, report to my readyroom," she told the Bajoran counselor, after tapping her combadge. Earlier they'd not had the chance to talk, the both of them having been called away for duty. "I need to talk with you," she added, "and I need to talk to you in the role of your profession."

Warning: long post (red alert?)
Joined post from commodore Sonak and counselor Steenbergen
Hm, Claire thought while she was on her way to Sonak, she calls me to her readyroom, I'd better be carefull....
Right after the door swooshed open, her eyes met Sonak's probing glare. Yes, glare was the right word. It petrified her.
"Ah there you are, finally," Sonak said impatiently, "please sit, we need to talk." ~how am I going to tell her?~ she thought, looking the woman over, her eyes locking on her throat. ~no~ she thought, shaking her head, averting her glaring gaze. "Care for a refreshment before we start?" she asked instead.
Claire tried to feel at ease, she hoped accepting her offer would help. "Yes, um, a raktajino, please." Maybe the drink would refrech her dry throat. Then she took a seat and waited for Sonak to put the drink in front of her. Everything seemed happening in slow motion...
"There you go. How is everything between you and Lena, still a happy couple?" she asked, as she set the hot drink before the counselor, "ah well that is not why I called you here. I called you here because I need to talk to a counselor, and it is something that regretably I cannot talk to Jatan about, however much I would want to. I fear he would not understand, and I would not be able to bear it if he turned from me."
The counselor let out a barely hearable sigh of relief. Well, a normal conversation she thought.
"Of course, commodore, tell me what's on your mind, that's why I'm here," and with a smile she sipped from her mug. Sonak hesitated for a moment, but she saw Claire gaze at her earnestly over the brim of her mug, and she sighed, steeling herself for any response forthcoming.
"Well," she started, "when we were at Conqueror, and I was looking for Admiral McCormick, I was attacked..." She paused, watching the Bajorans face intently, then when there was hardly a visible reaction, she continued, "When I woke up, I found myself unable to bear the taste of food, bright light, and found myself to have a craving for blood, preferably fresh. I do not know why it happened, or why I was attacked, but ever since the attack I have not been myself. I was hoping you could help me, where Jatan cannot at the moment." She gazed at Claire expectantly.
"If you need medical attention, I can help only in a minimal way, as I have received basic medical education. But I assume you mean you need someone to talk to, especially now when Jatan has his own problems. Maybe, I can help not only as a couselor, but also as a friend." And Claire looked at Sonak with a warm smile.
Sonak nodded. "Yes, Jatan has his own problems, I hope he has thawed out somewhat towards you?" She saw the woman blush a little, making her Trill spots stand out all the more. "I see that he has a little then," she responded, "anyway..." She paused yet again. "Lately, I find myself more confused. I am in need of fresh blood, but I find myself at odds with my conscience." She saw the counselor pale slightly and she nodded encouraginly. ~a brave woman~ Sonak thought, getting up from her chair. "Would you like another one?" she asked, motioning at the mug. She found it increasingly hard not to look at the womans throat, and she knew that soon she had to either chase the woman out, or feed on her.
"Sure, let me take it," Claire said while she stood up, from her chair. She found the commodore had been approaching her, and she didn't like it, though she didn't feel mean intentions. She hoped to increase the distance between each other as she walked towards the replicator. When she turned around Sonak stood right in front of her. Claire didn't even hear her approach. The commodore's breath was carressing her throat. She wanted to move, but couldn't resist...
"I am sorry," Sonak whispered, as she embraced the Bajoran/Trill counselor, her teeth finding the vulnerable spot on her throat, penetrating the skin. She heard the counselor whimper softly, as she fed on her. Her strong arms kept Claire from falling down, and after a while, Sonak let her go, lowering her slowly to the deck, while peering her in the eyes. "Thank you," she whispered at Claire, "and i believe now you fully understand how I felt. I can see it in your eyes that you comprehend what I told you. Soon, you will understand it all. Imagine your release, your possebilities now."
Claire let herself overwhelm. She looked up from the floor, looked into Sonak's eyes and nodded, felt.... content....then powerful. She knew now. Then without a word she left the readyroom, the commodore was smiling.

Sonak sat smiling as she watched the counselor leave the readyroom. ~yes, that is a strong one~ she thought. Claire was the first one that had not fainted on her, and also the first one that walked out directly after being fed upon. It marked a strong vampire, that trait.
She still sat laughing, and tears were forming in her eyes from laughter. However, soon she found herself sobbing instead of laughing. Her conscience was playing up once more, and she felt grief over what she had inflicted on the poor Bajoran/Trill woman. A woman she had counted among her friends. Still, she had not the courage to go back to sickbay and turn herself in for treatment, though she knew that would have been the best and safest option.
A knock on the readyroom door made her sit up, and she wiped the tears from her eyes. The greenishness and puffiness around her eyes betrayed that she had been crying, even though no more tears were forming. "Come," she called, hoping the darkness would hide her appearance. She was mildly surprised to find the chief engineer standing in the doorway. "How can I help you?" she asked, once more at full alert. Conscience tucked away again, the evil in her took over and eyed the chief engineer hungrily. ~no~ something within her cried, while another part cried ~food~

OOC: Sorry short post. Dont have any idea now, but still wanted to post.
After Sonak had left the bridge and went to her ready room Fox had ordered to get the lights at full strength again. He had taken his place in the big chair in the center of the bridge, watching the mail screen, seeing the stars fly by.
After a while the helm officer announced that Bellicose was within hailing range. Immediately Fox ordered to contact the starbase.
"Bellicose flight contol" came as answer to the call. "Commander Fox of the USS Vesuvius-A here. We are on approach and wish to dock when we arrive." "Acknowlegde Commander, we'll prepair for ur arrival."
The channel was closed and FOx asked the helm officer for the ETA. Who replied that they would arrive in 1 hour, 34 minutes and 12 seconds.

Nick heard the eta announcement from the back of the bridge. Not enough time thought, at least so he thought. There was one piece of information he'd left out of his report to the Commodore and it haunted him.
Exiting the ready room he saw claire unlike before she cowered and sheilded her eyes against the full illumination of the bridge. ~she was right~ he thought glancing at the two small puncture wounds on the lieutenants neck.
He curtly left his post and made his way to sickbay, he had to talk to Jatan. Folding his conceiled tricorder he walked into the turbo lift and initiated a site to site transport, they wouldn't get him this time.
~sickbay~ Jatan looked puzzled at the results. Nick had gathered scans of the councelor and the commodore. Each showed signs of an alien parasite. "It's imparing their judgment Jate," Nick said. "Rash decisions, and hunting of our own ships. I only wonder how many of the crews we encountered are infected now."
"I see what you mean. I'll get the computer to scan for this particular parasite."
He initiated the scan and minutes later came the results. 3 individuals, one on the bridge, one in councilors quarters and one in sickbay. ~Theres one here in Sickbay~ Jatan broadcast to Nick. Nick nodded and hit his combadge.
"Computer set up a level 10 containment field around each of the biosigns Dr. Reckus has detected."
Instantly the two heard a loud humm and heard Caldwell hiss as the field activated.
"Try using the transporter to separate out the parasite. Let me know if you need help," Nick said grabbing a clove of garlic from the replicator. He quickly made his way out of sickbay and back to the bridge.

<little backposting up to the point where Nick comes in in my last post....and a bit beyond that...>
Sonak heard a loud hum ricocheting off the walls of her readyroom. She covered her ears and hunched over the desk, roaring in pain. It was a good thing the walls were soundproof to the outside, otherwise the entire bridge crew would be entering by now, invading her privacy.
She squinted towards the doors. Too bright light hurt her, but now, the semi darkness left her almost blind. Her last adventure had left her almost night-blind and Jatan had not been able to repair that damage. In time though, it would possibly repair itself.
The doors opened, throwing the tall shadow of her chief engineer in, but almost instantly the doors closed again, and she heard the deafening hum twice. She cowered in the darkness, covering her sensitive ears. "Leave me alone," she told the chief engineer, wiping the tears from her earlier sobbing from her face. She did not want him to see her vulnerability. Behind him though, someone she had not expected had entered. She looked up and saw her beloved, saw the hurt in his eyes even before he spoke up.
"You are relieved of duty," he said and she heard the regret in his voice, "until further notice you will stay in this readyroom. Until such a time that you are fit to command again, Commander Fox will be taking over."
"No," she whispered, wishing she would wake up from this nightmare. She watched the two men advance on her, and she backed away until her she stood against the wall. ~what are they planning?~ she wondered.
~take them~ the voice in the back of her mind said.
"No!" she said aloud, "I will not."
She watched the two men take back a few steps, but their gaze never wavered from her. She could not see if they were armed, but she did not doubt they were.
~you can escape thought the containmentfield, it will not harm you~ the voice continued, and willed her into charging towards the men. And indeed, the doors parted before her and she dashed through the containment field, onto the bridge. She cried out as the full wave of the bridge bright ilumination hit her and she dove into the still open turbolift doors. Calling out a random deck, she got out as soon as the car arrived and dove into the nearest dark corner. Panting, she waited in silence, wondering what to do next.
<your cueue now people....how to catch a vampire?>

Immediately after claire left Sonak informed Fox that LtC Sam Ramsden had been assigned to the USS Vesuvius as her Tactical Officer and should arrive soon with a shuttle.
"Will you pick him up when he arrives?" She asked. "Okay, i will." Fox replied
A knock sounded on the door of the readyroom.
"That would be all, Commander." and Sonak closed the channel.
Not much later Fox got the call a shuttle was approaching. He stood up , gave command to the operations officer present and left the bridge heading toward the Transporter room.
Walking in there he saw the blue glow of the transporter fade away and an officer standing on the platform. Fox walked toward him.
"Welcome onboard the Vesuvius, LtC Ramsden. I am Commander Fox, i'll show you your quarters.
Both men walked out the transporter room. When reaching Sam's quarters Fox said.
"Here it is." Pointing to a door. "I'll expect u on the bridge in an hour." "Yes, Commander." Sam replied and entered his quarters.

Ramsden looked about his new quarters and threw the small duffel of meager possessions down on the bed.
Not a lot to do here. Nuts to this, I'm going up to the bridge.
A short turbolift ride later, Ramsden had already been slapped by an outraged female lieutenant (she had caught him staring at her chest), bumped into a group of Bolians talking about some kind of 'vampire' creature, and broken the head adjacent to the bridge, by snapping off the flusher. It looked like he'd be right at home.
"Lt. Commander Samuel Ramsden has arrived, Sir."

L'Ola stood outside the holodeck, arms folded, tapping her foot impatiently.
"Computer, where is Nick Martens?"
"Lieutenant Commander Martens is on the Bridge."
*Why the hell is he still there?* she thought, before realising he'd probably been held up with work.
Unfolding her arms, she started to walk up to the Bridge.
Exiting the turbolift, L'Ola looked around the room. She saw Nick standing near the Ready Room door, talking to an Officer she didn't recognise.
"So you're the new Security Chief? Well that's good timing then." Nick was saying, "We're having a few problems with several crew members. Three to be precise."
"What's going on?" L'Ola cut in before the Security Chief could reply.
"We have Vampires on board."
Looks of shock greeted Nick.
"Vampires?"
He nodded, "Jatan and I identified three crewmembers as being vampires: Ensign Caldwell, Counsellor Steenbergen, and Commodore Sonak."
L'Ola's eyes widened even more, if it was possible.
Ramsden stopped him there, "Look, I haven't memorised the entire crew list yet. Who's Jatan?"
"Jatan Reckus, Chief Medical Officer."
"Right. So who are you?" he asked, turning to L'Ola.
"I'm L'Ola Kanz, Chief Science Officer. I have no idea what your name is, but I think it can wait for the minute. Is there any way to contain the vampires at all? I don't really know much about them."

Ramsden looked at the other two.
"We could just blast them?"
"We can do that..."
Ramsden and Martens looked as L'Ola huffed men and walked off shaking her head. After a quick glance they decided to follow her.

Meanwhile a shuttle had appeared next to the Vesuvius. It was a starfleet shuttle. It slowed down and a short while later the shuttle hailed the Vesuvius.
"This is Medical Officer Buster from the Tigershark. We have come to investigate an attack from Commodore Sonak on one of our crewmembers. I have brought the attacked crewmember with me. I reckon that you were informed of our coming?"
Medical Officer Buster waited for a reply...

"Well Commander Ramsden, your informed of our current situation." looking and Jatan and Nick. "I suggest you three try to capture Sonak now she's on the loose. I Dont want any more victims."
As the three walked off a hail from a shuttle came in. After hearing Buster's story Fox said.
"No, Lieutenant. I wasnt informed of your coming. U're clear to dock in shuttle bay 2. I'll meet you there." The screen went black again and Fox walked off to the shuttle bay after giving command to another officer.
He also called Jatan back to meet him in the shuttle bay. After a while he had reached the bay. There he met Jatan asking him if he could run a scan of the shuttle as soon as it was down and put a level 10 containment field around any infected officers.
"We might have a 'vampire' here also" he explained.

<ooc: welcome aboard Mr Buster....crew...Mr Buster will join us for a few days until his crewmember is cured...and uh our crew is cured. Mr K'vada would like him back in a few days > Jatan Reckus greeted the new arrival, and looked him over for a second, then turned to his patient. "We will get her to sickbay. Is there anything you can tell me about her?" He still could not believe that his commanding officer would attack someone just like that, but his gathered by now that it was not her that was doing the attacking, but that something was willing her into it. "We have Caldwell contained," he continued, "but if the commodore can break through a level 10 containmentfield, I don't doubt that he can as well. We must hurry and sedate him. I heard you are partway on finding a cure?" <Buster> Jatan turned to Fox. "Find her," he said softly, almost pleading, "find her and Ms Steenbergen. But do not harm them, remember, they are our friends." <Fox> He then gazed at Ramsden. "And I will expect you in sickbay soon for a medical exam," he continued, "I have not yet received your medical records." ooc: welcome aboard ramsden....in case you all wonder..I am somewhat covering for our CMO until she <player> has her computer back in order.

As Jatan walked off to sickbay Fox said.
"Computer, locate Lieutenant Jg Steenbergen and Commodore Sonak." "Lieutenant Steenbergen is in het quarters..." The computer replied. "The location of Commodore Sonak is unknown."
"She must have gotten rid of her comm-badge." Fox thought.
Fox asked Ramsden to take some security officers with him and bring Claire to sickbay for treatment.
Then contacted Nick to ask him if he had any ideas how to find her. Fox himself suggested that maybe they could lure her to a place and then capture her.

"J'Leera seems to be infected, but she hasn't been attacking people as far as I know. I have reason to believe that she is actually doing a great job resisting the virus". Buster told Jatan, while walking along to sickbay. "I believe that this might be used to find a cure. If we can find out how she is able to resist the virus... Well it might not be a permanent cure but it will at least stop the infected crewmembers from attacking and infecting more people. This will give us time to find a more permanent solution to our little vampire problem". Jatan nodded and waited for Buster to continue.
Buster looked over his shoulder. "About that vampire problem... You said you have vampires on the loose? Are we in danger?" he asked.
"Well this certainly turned out to be more serious than we thought" Jatan answered. "I don't think we are in danger at the moment. I don't see why we wouldn't be able to stun or kill them with our phasers".
Buster nodded, feeling a little more relieved. "Of course we won't kill them, right? They are valuable crewmembers and this is just a medical situation that has gotten a bit out of hand." Buster added.
"Of course we won't kill them" Jatan said. "But stunning should be an option".
Buster turned to J'Leera. "I guess we won't be able to speak with commodore Sonak afterall. But don't worry, we'll find a cure. Both for you and for her. And anyone else that is infected". J'Leera held her arm in front of her eyes to cover them from the light, but she nodded...

Sorry for the annoyingly long post. They had arrived in sickbay. Buster helped J’Leera on one of the beds. “Sorry that you have to stay in sickbay the entire time. But we can’t let you walk around the ship. Not with your condition. But look at the bright side, at least it’s better than the brig” Buster told J’Leera. J’Leera nodded. “I understand”, she said. “But could you please decrease the amount of light?” “Of course” Buster said. “Ehr, Jatan? You might want to help me out here?” “Computer, decrease the amount of light with 10 percent” Jatan said. ”Of course. I knew that”. Buster replied. “Thank you”. At that moment Jatan’s combadge beeped. He answered it. “Jatan here” “Jatan, this is Fox. Did you find anything out about the vampires?” “Hold on, we just arrived here” Jatan answered. Fox was quiet for a second and then continued. “Okay, Nick and I have come up with a plan to capture the vampire… I mean, Sonak. We might need your help”. “Why don’t you come over here so we can discuss this together?” Jatan asked. ”Okay, we are on our way”. Fox answered. A little while later Nick and Fox entered the sickbay. Buster was talking to J’Leera and Jatan was busy checking on J’Leera’s medical condition using a console screen. Jatan looked up. “Right, we believe we have found a way to lure our Commanding Officer into a trap”, Nick said while walking to the middle of the room. “As we all know vampires hate bright lights and have a liking for blood”, Nick continued, “We might be able to use this information to lure Sonak. If we make all the lights very bright except for a corridor nearby, she is very likely to go that way. If we could place a glass of blood somewhere along that corridor, we might be able to trap her using a forcefield.” Jatan nodded “That might just work”. “Excuse me” Buster said. He had stopped the conversation with J’Leera and walked towards the rest of the group. “But I overheard earlier that she was able to escape from a level 10 containment field. Don’t you think she is able to escape from the forcefield too?” The rest of the group remained silent. “And I don’t think vampires like a glass of blood. They like living targets”. “What do you suggest” Fox asked. “I suggest we use one of us as bait. Commodore Sonak is more likely to fall for such a trap than just a random glass of blood on the floor”. “And what about trapping her?” asked Fox. “Like Jatan said earlier, we might still be able to stun the vampires using our phasers, if only they come close enough”. Buster said. Jatan interrupted. “That’s not even such a bad idea mister Buster, but who is going to lure the vampire Sonak out?” “We’ll have to decide that” Buster said. “Who wants to be vampire bait?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Buster was standing in a darkened corridor. He tried to adjust his eyes to the darkness. In his hand he held a firm grip on the phaser. It was set to stun. “Who wants to be vampire bait?” he thought to himself. “Real clever. I could have asked that a little different.” They had agreed on Buster’s plan and so he found himself as bait for Sonak. Of course he had his phaser with him to stun her. He just hoped he was able to hit her before she was able to bite him. Or claw him to death. Or whatever vampires used to do to their victims. Buster still had his combadge and he was able to communicate with Fox, who was assisting him from the bridge. They had also decided to have an emergency plan, which was a wooden stake behind the console near him. Buster just needed to run a meter or two to his left, press a button and he was able to grab the stake. Of course using the stake would end up in Sonak’s death, so he only was to use it in case of an absolute emergency. It would be his last resort. Corridors looked creepy when they were unlit. It reminded him of emergency situations or ghost spaceships. The ones in which the entire crew was killed by some kind of unknown alien. Whatever it reminded him off, it never was a good memory. Mostly it had to do with death and working overtime in sickbay. And now here he was, in perhaps the most frightening corridor situation ever. He wasn’t even on his own ship so he had no idea where he could flee in case Sonak decided to hop in. Which was bound to happen. And it had been HIS idea. Something moved in the shadows somewhere on the other end of the corridor. It walked straight towards Buster. He hardened his grip on the phaser and aimed. He waited… Nothing moved anymore. Maybe he was just imagining things. He kept aiming forward, unable to move out of fear. Maybe Sonak WAS there, but she had seen him and decided to stop movement. “Computer, increase lights with 20 percent” he ordered. The light in his hallway increased and he was able to look around. No sign of Sonak. “Computer, dim lights”. The lights dimmed. Buster relaxed a bit and stopped aiming forward and held his phaser aimed for the ground. His eyes kept gazing into the darkness in front of him. After a while he tapped his combadge. “Fox, are you sure she can’t come from behind?” he asked softly. “Negative. We have activated a forcefield right behind you. Even if she is able to get past the forcefield, you’ll be alerted of her presence and you can get out of there.” Fox replied. “Why? Do you see something?” “Not really… just checking…” Buster said. “Buster out”. He felt like sitting down. He had been standing in this corridor for what felt like at least 10 minutes, without moving too much. He kept standing however. Sonak was sure to be on this deck unless she used the Jeffrey tubes. “I wonder how far the nearest Jeffrey’s tube is away from my position”. Buster thought to himself. Suddenly a loud noise came from behind. Something had collided with the forcefield behind Buster. Completely scared as Buster was, he closed his eyes and didn’t move at all. When he finally decided to look around nothing was to be seen. His heart was pumping. He tapped his combadge again. “Something just collided with the forcefield behind me” he almost shouted, leaving all formalities. “It’s gone now!” “That’s her”. Fox replied. “She can’t get past the forcefield, believe me. Just keep looking in the direction you were facing before”. Buster jumped around. He had forgotten to look into that direction and it was very possible for Sonak to have sneaked behind him now. Nothing moved however. “Hello” and Sonak jumped towards Buster from a spot right in front of him. Buster screamed and forgot to aim his weapon. He jumped backwards, right into the forcefield. He bounced back and made a painful collision with the ground. He heard something jumping for him. As a reflex he rolled aside. Sonak barely missed him. He had let go of his phaser, which was lying somewhere on the ground, too dark to see. He jumped up and ran forward, right into a wall. He managed to hurt himself even more. He crouched and made himself as small as possible. Somehow he didn’t immediately feel Sonak attacking him. Which gave him time to think… He was thinking along the lines of “WOODEN STAKE!!” (TAG: Sonak?) I'll continue this post later. Feel free to add anyone.

*note: you can stake a Vampire. It will be "dead" until you remove said stake.

OFF: Here’s some info about what happened that may be useful. This is what happed after J’Leera was infected.
J’Leera overheard what Buster was saying about the cup of blood and went over to him. Just after he mentioned using someone as bait, she spoke up. Buster spun around, “J’Leera! What are you doing here? Get back on the bed.”
“Sorry,” she apologized. “I just wanted to tell you that when we were together on this ship, we raided sickbay’s supply of blood,” she stuttered. “We ate it all. Me, Sonak and Caldwell. We took all of the blood and ate all of it. Also, I must admit, I’m the one who originally bit Caldwell.”
“Why didn’t you just go after live targets?” Jatan asked. <Tag: Jatan or whoever else>
She shrugged, “I’m not really sure why we did it. Perhaps it was a little bit left over from our original selves that didn’t want to hurt anyone.”
She started to say more, but Buster interrupted her. “Now, now J’Leera. You must get back and rest. Don’t make us force you. Look at yourself! You look like you’re about ready to collapse!”
“Oh,” she said, starring down at her shaky hands. “Okay,” she agreed and went back to the bed.

ooc: nick, and probably only if said stake is placed in heart of said vampire....for now...that will not be the case...being Vulcan:p
Sonak had managed to step past the set-up forcefield and had seen the human waiting for her. Her conscious mind screamed 'trap' but the invader would have none of it, and the invader was in control of her body. She lunged at the doctor, and slammed full force into the forcefield when the young man dove away, after painfully colliding with it as well.
She cried out as she bounced back due to the jolt the field gave her. Squinting in the semi-darkness, she saw the human crawling for a console. Partially weakened by the jolt, she moved towards the human, playing with her victim like a cat would with a mouse. She watched from a short distance, as the human reached up to the console and retrieved something she could not see. Advancing on him, she almost tripped over the lost phaser. Knowing that the light emitted from a phaser was too bright for her to bear, she assumed the weapon useless to her and kicked it away. Then she continued her advance on her prey.
She stood and listened for other sounds for a moment and when she found none, she focused on her victim again. The young man had now regained his footing, and seemed to be waiting for her approach. She still could not determine what item he had retrieved from the console. Deciding to oblige her prey for a bit, she continued her advance slowly.
Buster had retrieved the wooden stake from behind the console and was now waiting for Sonak to come closer. He didn't like the thought of killing Sonak, even though she might be alright if he removed the stake again. But it was him or her now. He did his best not to move or make a sound, and he was wondering if Sonak was still able to see him. He listened closely for any sound that might reveal the position of what was attacking him. Nothing was to be heard.
He kept listening, having a feeling that he might feel fangs in his neck any moment. Still nothing moved as far as he could see. He was beginning to wonder if Sonak was actually still there. He turned his head a little to get a look at what was behind him.
Buster was thinking of commanding the computer to increase the amount of light, but if Sonak was still in the corridor he would reveal his position by doing so and Sonak was very likely to attack. He also didn't know what Sonak would do if the lights increased, she might be a bit confused but she might still be able to attack and bite. He decided that it wasn't an option, because increasing the light would require Buster to give the command, and if Sonak attacked before he could finish his sentence he would be off even worse,
For some reason the stake gave Buster confidence, and even though he decided it would be best not to move, he was quite able to do so. Of course Buster remained frightened of the thought of being within close proximity of a vampire. Maybe Sonak was quite able to see him but she was just playing with him. Or would the sight of Buster holding a stake frighten her so much that she didn't attack? It sure was awfully quiet.
Another few seconds passed and still nothing happened. Buster had an idea. He silently grabbed his tricorder and threw it to the other side of the corridor. He hoped the noise would startle Sonak so he had time to strike the first blow...
Sonak was slightly distracted when she saw the human throw something to the side. She could not determine what it was, and followed the object with her eyes, taking them momentarily off her prey. With a thud, the tricorder landed not far from her, flipping open on impact. When she turned her attention back to her prey, she saw him come charging forward at full speed.
Buster had noticed movement and decided to go for a full rush. He rammed into Sonak with his right shoulder and tried to impale her with the stake. He missed. Sonak was thrown to the side, but the noise of her colliding with the ground gave her position away. Buster turned towards the sound and attacked again. This time Sonak saw the attack coming and jumped aside, letting Buster plunge head-first into the wall again. Buster cried out of pain and fell to the ground. Sonak immediately jumped towards Buster. Buster closed his eyes and felt the weight of Sonak push upon him. He lifted his stake with all his power and managed to hit Sonak right in the chest. Sonak screamed and tried to move away, but the stake was stuck. Buster pushed the stake even further down Sonak's chest. Sonak kept screaming and tried to remove the stake from her body. Buster was still holding on to the stake. Frightened by the sudden screaming Buster tried to pull the stake back out. He didn't really want to kill Sonak. With the help of Sonak he succeeded. Blood splattered on both him and the floor.
He was thrown back by the sudden retrieval of the stake and collided once again with the floor behind him. He got back up and grabbed Sonak in an attempt hold her in one place..
Pain gulfed through her once more as the stake slid free, and she skittered aside just barely evading the hands of the young man. She saw him slip and fall, and remain still and she waited only long enough to check if he was all right. When she discovered he was, she fled back into the darkness, feeling dizzy from loss of blood. She had not ran long, before she encountered a group clad in yellow, led by a human(oid) she had not seen before, but by his stance she judged he was the new security chief. She also regocnized her chief engineer.
Turning, she discovered Jatan and another group behind her. There was nowhere to go, and resigned to her fate, she sagged to the deck, hurt and exhausted. ~finally~ she thought, even though the invader tried to get her to move, flee the site.

J'Leera waited in sickbay for Buster to come back. She had good news to tell him and she couldn't wait. Before then, she had been feeling very sick, mostly dizzy and nauseous. After she had rested again, she realized that the feeling was slowly going away!
I'm getting better! she realized. Now if they can figure out why I got better, perhaps they can help the others!
Just as she was about to inform the nurse on duty, something suddenly hit her. She remembered Ensign Caldwell and what she did to him. On moment she was happy and relaxed, then next moment she suddenly became depressed. Oh, no! she shuddered at the memory. I can't believe that I did that! she thought in horror.
The more she thought about it, the more horrified she became of what she did. So instead of going to talk to the nurse, she went back to the bed, climbed on and began to sob quietly.

Sonak staggared around the corner and found herself confronted by two teams of officers. She fell against a wall and slid to the floor. Sam nodded to one of his officers to put restraints on the Commodore. The young ensign moved slowly, his eyes wide at the sight of the Commodore bleeding.
He leaned close and reached for her wrists. Immediatly as if driven by pure instinct she lunged for his neck but was met by a phaser blast. The security officer promptly got up and locked the cuffs on Sonak. Jatan hit his badge and knelt next to the Commodore, "Emergency transport to sickbay."
Jatan materialized next to a biobed and after a few seconds he regained his bearings. He looked down expecting his love to have materialized but stared in shock as she never arrived. His badged promptly chirped and he answered.
"Jatan here."
=/\= Sir this is the transporter room. The Bio filters picked up something foreign in the pattern of the Commodore. It's more than strange sir, should I separate it?=/\=
"Try as best you can. Beam the second patten into a sealed glass container for annilisys."
Seconds later the Commodore materialized on the biobed gasping. Her chest still bleeding from the wound the stake had made. Jatan pressed a hypospray against her neck then closed the surgery cover on the bed. The computer immediatly took over and began repairing the damaged tissue.
The doors swooshed open to reveal Nick and the rest of the team. Buster tagged along in back looking a little green.
"Is she going to be ok?" Nick asked intently.
"Only time will tell. We found somthing in her transporter pattern. It may be the cause,it may not be. We won't know until she wakes up."
"If it is then we should try it on the others." Buster piped up, wiping the last bit of green off his face.
