The Victory approached Assailant, and a good number of the people on the bridge visibly relaxed, looking forward to resting while the Victory received repairs. Nika, however, still had to figure out what could be done about those Romulans that were still on the Victory. Arrangements had been made ahead of time for the Federation citizens, but no one had really been anticipating the Romulan presence.
The Victory docked and Nika tapped her commbadge, to send welcome news to the crew. =/\= Nika to all senior staff, enjoy your shoreleave on Assailant=/\=
Then, after having dismissed most of her crew, Nika entered her ready room to begin a discussion with Assailant staff about what could be done with the Romulans. A discussion that was not going too well. Obviously Nika didn't expect Assailant to take in all of the Romulans, but that would have been nice. Or even if they had told her where she should take them. But she wasn't getting anywhere. “Really?” Nika said, replying to the latest person who had taken up the other side of the commchannel. “Because I would think treating refugees of another empire well would set a good precedent. Just in case, you know, something should ever happen to any of our colonies.”
“Excellent. Then I'm sure, in the interest of good Federation-Romulan relations, you'd be happy to keep the Romulans aboard your ship.”
Nika sighed. She may be getting quite a bit better at using words to persuade other people of her opinion, but she still wasn't nearly as smooth at it as most of the people she ran into.
“See, Captain. Your reaction, right there, is the same as the reaction would be from anybody else I could ask to take on Romulan refugees, potentially dangerous.”
Nika started to object, but he held up a hand. “I know, you say you've taken care of that,” he said. “But you don't have anything to guarantee their good behavior with. However, I will check with some of the colonies that are currently taking on people and see if any of them are willing to accept ex-citizen Romulans. In the meantime, while you're on Assailant I can give some of the Romulans temporary quarters as well as provide security.”
“Thank you very much,” Nika said, shutting down the channel. She stood up from her desk, ready to go find some food then make sure the arrangements for the Romulans were being carried out satisfactorily, when her doorchime rang. “Enter,” Nika answered.

Tiana hadn't been on Assailant long when she heard that the Victory had docked. With a slight spring in her step she walked to the docking port, there she paused a moment to observe the ship. 'quite wonderful. I can't wait to see inside' she though.
She found the Captain's location, downloaded a map of the ship and made her way to the Captain's ready room. She pressed the door chime.
"enter"
Tiana stepped into the room, she hoped she had not caught the Captain at a bad time.
"Acting Ensign Tiana Galwyn reporting for duty, sir. I'm your new Chief Science Officer"
She nodded as the Captain spoke. <Tag:Captain Cir'Kem>
"I'm in temporary quarters on the starbase but I'd like to transfer my things to the Victory as soon as I can."
<Tag>
"I'd like to have a look round the science labs and meet the staff, although I imagine they are all ready on shore leave. I understand that the Victory has been without a CScO for a while"
<Tag>
"Thank-you, sir" Tiana nodded as the Captain dismissed her and then left the ready room. She intended to get moved in as soon as possible.

Rubbing his forehead, he apologized to the officer. "I didn't see you there... Ensign...?"
"Tiana Galwyn," she said, a bit confused.
"Galwyn... Galwyn... " puzzled, Nack looked back to Captain Cir'kem, who had just risen. The Ferengi shrugged slightly, signaling for help. Captain Cir'kem introduced her as the new Science Officer.
"OH! Ensign Galwyn." He had forgotten about her impending arrival. "I would be the First Officer, Commander Nack. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me - although I'm sure the lovely Captain here has answered them all for you." He smiled largely, showing his sharpened teeth. It had been a few days since had last sharpened them, and he was taking every opportunity to show off their gleaming yellowness.
"We haven't had a science officer in a long while. You know, I used to be a medical officer before joining the Hanson. Very rewarding. I even delivered a baby once. The Commodore's baby, no less. Of course, I wasn't the one who delivered it, the Chief Engineering Officer did. Healthy baby girl. Mother was fine, but a bit moody if you ask me. I guess I would be too if I was in command." He looked at Cir'kem, who was wincing at the Ferengi's monologue. "No offense, of course." Nack had a tendency to ramble, and apparently Tiana's entrance was not going to be an exception. "Have you ever ate here, Ensign?" He placed his hand on her shoulder, since she was only slightly taller than he, and walked her out. The Captain gave an apologetic look to the officer, but let her go. She would be in fine hands.
"Anyway, as I was saying, the food is great. I was here visiting on my way to the Victory for the first time and had some great food. Of course, the Victory was in Cardassian space, and so I picked up a shuttle rather quickly, but I had time to eat at....."
Nack's voice could be heard by the Captain trailing off as her two officers walked the corridor.

Lieutenant Commander Youngblood left his station and headed for the Captain’s Ready Room. The Captain had just finished announcing to all senior staff for shore leave. Yahnie wanted to see the Captain to see if he would be needed to escort the Romulan’s to there quarter’s on the Starbase.
<Captain’s Ready Room>
The Lieutenant tapped the buzzer at the ready room’s door. “Enter” a voice said from inside. The Lieutenant entered the room. The Captain was at her desk and the Ferengi and an ensign in the room. “Captain Cir’kem if you need my services to escort the Romulan’s to their new quarters on the Starbase and if they are short handed. I’ll be happy to help them the best I can.”
<Tag Captain Cir’Kem>
The Lt. Commander turned to the young ensign and introduced himself to her. “Ensign, my name is Lieutenant Commander Youngblood I am the CTSO here on the Victory. If you need anything just come to me and if I am able to help you I will be glad to.”
<Tag Ensign Tiana Galwyn>
Lieutenant Commander Youngblood turned to both the Captain and the First Officer and said to them. “The last time we were going to have shore leave and it was interrupted I got a communiqué from my brother who was at Deep Space 9 at the time and helped saved the life of Dr. Julian Bashir. He was so grateful and gave my brother a copy of a holographic program based in a fictional 1961 casino hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada entitled Bashir 62 and featuring Vic Fontaine. Dr Bashir gave his permission to send a copy to me. I am anxious to try it out. I hear that Vic Fontaine isn’t your usual hologram. I would like you and the Commander to join me as soon as my duties allow it.”

As Tiana stepped out of the Ready room she collided with a Ferengi officer coming the other way. He looked at her and rubbed his forehead. She rubbed her chin. It didn't seem as if any serious damage had been done. She smiled and was about to apologise when he beat her to it.
Tiana introduced herself and the Ferengi puzzled for a second before looking past her to the Captain to stepped in to make proper introductions. Tiana sighed inwardly, she wasn't much good at this.
"OH! Ensign Galwyn." He said "I would be the First Officer, Commander Nack. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me - although I'm sure the lovely Captain here has answered them all for you." He smiled largely, showing long sharped yellow teeth which, if Tiana remember correctly, were something to be proud of if you were Ferengi.
"No offense, of course." He turned back to look at Tiana "Have you ever ate here, Ensign?" He placed his hand on her shoulder, since she was only slightly taller than he, and walked her out. The Captain gave a slightly apologetic look to Tiana who was beginning to feel a little overwhelmed.
The first officer continued "Anyway, as I was saying, the food is great. I was here visiting on my way to the Victory for the first time and had some great food. Of course, the Victory was in Cardassian space, and so I picked up a shuttle rather quickly, but I had time to eat at....."
Tiana was trying to find a gap in the monologue to agree that a meal would be nice when another officer stepped up to them. It was a Lieutenant Commander wearing gold. He had a short conversation with the Captain, something about Romulans which sounded very interesting, and then turned back to Tiana.
“Ensign, my name is Lieutenant Commander Youngblood I am the CTSO here on the Victory. If you need anything just come to me and if I am able to help you I will be glad to.”
Tiana smiled. "Pleased to meet you Commander, and thank-you for the kind offer. I'm Tiana Galwyn, the new CScO. I look forward to serving with you."
Commander Youngblood spoke to both the Captain and the First Officer. Tiana allowed the FO to reply and then spoke to him before he could start another monologue.
"I could use a meal, sir, where was it you were recommending?" The two of them left the bridge in conversation, well mostly the FO talking and Tiana listening.

"Indeed, Commander. I am sure, after we get a bite to eat, I would be more than happy to indulge your... your risky side," Nack yelled down the hall to Commander Youngblood. He hadn't heard Captain Cir'kem's response, but no need. As long as there was gambling involved, this Ferengi was not going to miss a good time.
"What kind of food do you like? I particularly partial to slugs, worms, .. I tried Klingon bloodworms once, thought they would be like blood fleas, boy was I wrong." The trill looked a bit disgusted, and Nack tried to think of foods that might be in her category of liking.
"Uh, Klingon is not your taste, eh?" The new science officer declared she liked their opera, but not their food. The same went for Ferengi, except for the opera part.
"Well, there are some other places we can eat. Of course, the officer's mess has an assortment of food. Admiral Lin sees to it."
Not having formally met the Admiral, he had heard good things of the gentleman. With the Ferengi assumption of, "ears are always open," Nack continued his compliments of the Admiral, unneccesarily loud, on the way to mess.
Ensign Galwyn barely got a word in during the meal, as Commander Nack pretty much gave his life story. At the end of the meal, he pulled out his tooth sharpener. "Do you mind?"
Ensign Galwyn didn't respond fast enough, which led Nack to believe that the electrolyzed latinum sharpener didn't offend her. The golden teeth were quite the site; for a Ferengi that is. For any other race, they were an unattractive mess.
"What'd-ya say we get to that holodeck simulation?" the first officer said to his newest recruit. "Mr. Youngblood had to pull a lot of stings to get ahold of it, i bet. Did I ever tell you that I used to do holodeck programming on Ferenginar?" Of course Nack did, between the appetizer and dinner, but that didn't stop him from retelling the story again. The Romulan wine, which had a short period of legalization in the Federation, was clearly inebriating him as they left the mess and headed for the holo-suites.

“Thank you Commander,” Nika replied to Commander Youngblood. “Although you needn't worry about the Romulans. The Assailant security can take care of them. Your people, and you, deserve whatever rest you can get while the ship's being repaired.”
Nika watched her First Officer intersect the new Ensign's path and start talking her ears off. Although Nika may have liked to talk with her new Chief Science Officer, and perhaps give the officer a chance to talk back, there would very likely be time enough for that later. And she was sure that Nack would be professional in his welcome, and give Ensign Galwyn a chance to settle into her quarters and the ship itself.
Commander Youngblood invited Nika and Commander Nack to a holodeck program. Nika still tended to avoid holodecks as a form of entertainment, finding a book that she could easily set down or pick up again as opportunity and time off from duty arose more convenient. But she knew that holodecks could be important in achieving a full experience, and why not? The Victory was docked, and although Nika still had a lot of paperwork to file there was less to do than normally. She may as well try enjoying her time off.
“I'd love to, Commander,” Nika responded to the offer of holodeck. He left, said he had to take care of some things before going off duty, and Nika took care of some of the paperwork she had, mostly that which concerned keeping the Victory repairs on time, when possible.
She stood outside the holodeck, after Commander Youngblood had told her that he was ready. She wasn't really quite sure what to expect. She still wore her uniform, simply because she wasn't quite sure what the program was, or what clothing would be appropriate to it. Plus, the holodeck could change her clothing as necessary. With a slight sigh, she entered the holodeck and looked around for Commanders Youngblood or Nack.

Many stories that Vic told and one of them he always enjoy telling which was Sinatra was even said to be partially credited for helping John F. Peter Lawford was so popular, in fact, he was included in the Holosuite program Bashir62. I'll have a snail juice, no shells please." The waitress shot back- "Snail juice? What planet are you from, Mister?"
Nack sighed, forgetting that there was a part he was supposed to be playing here. "I'll just have water."
On Ferenginar, the males served in the entertainment venues. Of course, it was to fully sustain off-worlders, as all Ferengi would rather be making the money running the operation, than spending the money on pointless entertainment. Nack, raised by humans however, was taught an appreciation for those around him. He enjoyed the presence of the people he was currently with. They were respectable officers.
"Would like something to drink, Ensign Galwyn?" There wasn't much room at the smaller table, and Nack realized that he was hogging more of the table's edge than he needed to. He moved his chair to the side, "Here - now you can join us." Smiling with his golden yellows.
It was in-between songs, and everyone was enjoying their drinks, when Nack made conversation; Ferengi conversation, which by now everyone knew as Nack talking without letting others getting a word in.
"This is nice, but so inefficient. There is a 98% return on those slot machines over there! Insane! You could easily make twice as much by sending that down to 96%. A friend of mine, on Ferenginar- before he was sent to prison for laundering latinum, he ran a nice operation in one of the northern provinces. Had Dabo tables, Tongo tournaments, old Earth games like these, Klingon sword game (not unsimilar to Russian roulette).. everything! Made a fortune with that. He also owned a waste pickup service, which would automatically regenerate your replicator waste. He never did explain why his waste vehicles were found a few miles out in the swamp --- the swamp was where the largest gaming district was --- after the massacres occurred that year. Probably why he went to jail."
Nack took a drink. Vic had already started singing again, and everyone relaxed as it appeared the First Officer was done talking... at least until the song was done.

Russell could not help but feel happier when the doctors finally released him after their arrival at SB Assailant, they were going to release him a lot longer before but after Nack did a disappearing act they seemed less interested in remembering to release him. “well if you suffer from any headaches or feel dizzy for any reason you are to go to sickbay either here or on the star base” Russell looked at the nurse talking to him “I will, I will” walking out of sickbay he made his way to his quarters to sort out any paperwork floating around. Arriving he was surprised to see very little remained of the necessary paperwork for his department, thankful that someone had done some of the work he quickly threw what was left into a bag and put some climbing equipment, then walked out and towards the nearby holodeck.
Arriving Russell created a mountain from earth, then made his way in to the holodeck and was greeted by a cold breeze. Making his way up the mountain he felt his leg give from under him, grabbing the nearby ledge he stopped himself from falling and pulled himself up and while on the ledge he took a look at his left leg that had just stopped working. After a few moments Russell decided that nothing was broken just tired or cold, so he set up camp there and hoped that no one was looking for him as he had forgotten to take his comm badge with him when he had left.
Settling in his tent he looked out at the horizon and felt the relax he always did when he did this, then remembering that he was in a holodeck he shut the door and opened a food pack he had left in the bag. Normally when Russell does this he never stops till he was at the top, but with his leg not working he could not continue until it was better.

It was, to say the least, an interesting meal. She now knew more about the FO than she had ever wanted to. He reminded her of one of the Professors she had studied with back home. As far as she was aware there were four sorts of professor: those who were never around; those who never said anything; those who never stopped talking and those who were actually helpful. Needless to say the Professor Nack reminded her of had fallen into the third category.
Somewhere in the middle of the appetizer a large chunk of Tiana's mind had wandered off and was currently working on design for a new gravity wave sensor as well as try to decide what to get for her mother's birthday. She was listening to the FO but not fully...
At the end of the meal, he pulled out his tooth sharpener. "Do you mind?"
Tiana didn't really hear the comment, it was only the third question he had directed at her in the last hour and after the others he hadn't paused long enough for her to respond anyway.
She started to watch the sharpening operation with a bizarre sort of fascination, the same sort of thing that caused people to stare at hover-car crashes. She was wondering firstly how all those teeth fitted into his mouth, secondly how he could have them so sharp and not be constantly catching the inside of his cheek and thirdly how she could get away from here.
The fascination wore off after about thirty seconds and then Tiana found herself staring somewhat fixedly over the Commander's shoulder and working frantically on the third problem. Unfortunately before she could find a solution to this that didn't involving simply running, the FO spoke again
"What'd-ya say we get to that holodeck simulation? Mr. Youngblood had to pull a lot of stings to get a hold of it, i bet. Did I ever tell you that I used to do holodeck programming on Ferenginar?" Tiana sighed silently as he headed, a little unsteadily for the holosuites. Why couldn't social situations be as simply as four dimensional calculus? She realised that she could simply not follow the FO, as she hadn't been given an invite after all. She got up and followed Nack, in truth she was intrigued by the idea of the holoprogram.
The programme turned out to be 1962 Las Vegas, Earth. A pretty good place for music. Tiana stood quietly to one side and soaked up the atmosphere and the music. She was being pretty much ignored until the FO turned to her
"Would like something to drink, Ensign Galwyn?" He moved his chair to the side, "Here - now you can join us." he smiled showing those bizarrely fascinating teeth again. Tiana sat down and ordered a Pina Colada, she was feeling the need for something sweet, normally a sign of stress.
A while later in the middle of a song she realised that Nack had finally stopped speaking and no one else had started. With a smile she made her excuses and left the holosuite. She wanted to get her things on to the Victory and sort some other things out. It would also be nice to meet a few more of her new colleges.

Joan was glad to get off the shuttle and onto another starbase. She hated it when rookie pilots took the helm, but she did her best to ignore the mistakes and enjoy the ride. It had been a long time since she had been assigned to any ships, and she hoped she could remember not to argue with the captain or anything like that.
The teen made her way along to discover the Victory was waiting for her. She wished Leena could have come, but she sighed remembering her companion hadn't wanted to leave the starbase. ~All those cadets to still look after. Well I'm sure Angel can keep my friend out of any trouble.~ The girl thought as she found the Victory.
Once aboard she used the computer to find where her quarters were, and made for them quickly. She desired to be rid of her bag and to freshen up before meeting her new commanding officers.
After the visit to her quarters, Joan discovered the captain was in Holodeck 2, and she smiled realizing the captain was probably enjoying herself. ~I wonder if she got the memo about me yet.~ The teen thought chuckling at what a surprise she would be.
Joan stepped into the holodeck and discovered a lot of tables and a man singing on stage. She realized who he was and smiled knowing exactly what he was singing. ~Chip off the old block I bet. Better not say that aloud though, could get me in trouble.~ She walked around the holodeck for a few minutes before bumping into a table with several people at it. She turned to face them.
"I do apologize. I am a bit lost in here, and was wondering if anyone knows where I may find the captain," the young commander said knowing her attire didn't fit in with her surroundings. She was surprised when the captain introduced herself.
"Commander Joan McCormick, captain, at your service. I was just transferred to your ship and will be your new doctor," she said still standing and watching her new captain's face hoping for some sign of her already knowing all this.

Nika didn't really know any Earth drinks. At least, she didn't think she did. It could be there were drinks she sometimes got that were Earth ones, but Nika wouldn't know whether they were the correct time period or not. Earth history, not really her speciality. Which was part of the fun of being here and being able to observe a piece of culture. This was a good deal more interesting than the mandatory alien history course she'd had to take during her Starfleet Academy training courses had been.
Nika was listening to Nack speak, wondering how she had managed to get a First Officer that was so very different from her. He had come well-recommended, though. Where Nika was silent, he didn't seem able to stop talking. Which meant that maybe, hopefully, they balanced each other a little.
She was still pondering this and enjoying the relative silence granted by the resumed music, when a very young officer with commander 1st class pips bumped into her table, asking for the captain. Nika introduced herself, and Commander McCormick introduced herself as the new Chief Medical Officer.
Nika nodded slightly, Commander McCormick's transfer order had been one of the pieces of paperwork Nika had signed off on before joining Commander Youngblood. “Welcome aboard,” Nika said, then went on to introduce the officers that were still sitting around the table. “About time we got a doctor. I can give you your quarter assignments, or you're welcome to join us here for a while, if you'd rather.”

Russell stood up and felt that his leg was better, so wanting to get to the top before anyone started looking for him he got out of the tent and, after packing the tent away, began the last part of the climb to the peak. When Russell actually reached the top, he was surprised how tired he was ‘I think I am out of shape again’ he laughed at the thought. Deciding that there was no point going back down the mountain as he had been in here for almost 8 hours now, he spoke “Computer re-display arch at my current location”. As the arch materialised near to him, Russell took one last look at the horizon before walking towards the door.
Just as he reached the door he felt himself trip over some rocks on the ground near the door, falling to the floor in the corridor directly outside the holodeck he heard the footsteps of someone else. Just before he could see who it was he felt a kick to his side followed by the owner falling on top of him. When the person collected themselves and got off Russell he turned to see who it was. He saw a woman in blue with a hallow pip on her shoulder. “Hey are you Tiana Galwyn by any chance?” Russell had heard that a new science officer had arrived, as she nodded starting to collect the paper and bag that she had been carrying Russell knew what she was thinking “don’t be worried about tripping over me I shouldn’t have been on the floor ahead of you” laughing at himself to show he had no hard feelings about her kicking him and falling lick a lump onto him.

Tiana was on her third trip to her new quarters with a bag over her shoulder and armful of paper and PADDs that she could barely see over. She was strolling along a corridor on the Victory when she heard or thought she heard a thud, she kept walking seeing no obvious cause. Then he foot hit something on the deck and she pitched headlong forward.
She was stunned for a moment and then realised that she had tripped over, and then landed on a Lieutenant in blue. She wasn't sure if she wanted to be embarrassed or annoyed. Tiana settled for getting up off him and starting to collect her scattered things.
“Hey are you Tiana Galwyn by any chance?” he asked. She gave a nod, still unsure of what to say. “don’t be worried about tripping over me I shouldn’t have been on the floor ahead of you” He laughed, and Tiana smiled mostly with relief. He was a bit taller than her and maybe a couple of years younger. He seemed to be human.
"Probably not, but I really should have been looking where I was going. Sorry. I hope I didn't hurt you." He hand her a couple of her dropped PADDs A little bit of formality slipped into Tiana's voice as she continued "Pleased to meet you, sir" She said and waited for the lieutenant to introduce himself.

"Pleased to meet you, sir" Russell heard this and realised he had not introduced himself, “how rude of me, my name is Russell Davis, I am the ships counsellor” Russell picked up the last bag and kept it, “well I might as well help you get this to your quarters, lead the way” Russell watched as she pointed down the hall and he began to follow Tiana as she walked towards her quarters. “Well by the looks of your books, you are a scientist. I am right am I not?”

Russell smiled, “well it is nice to see a new face on the Victory, hopefully our next mission will be kind on you” Russell remembered how his first mission had gone, shuddering he quickly changed the subject, “how long have you been aboard Tiana, you do not mind me calling you Tiana?”

Yahnie is sitting at his table sipping on a drink called a screwdriver the others at his table had ordered their drinks and all was listening to Vic Fontaine sing another song. As soon as the song was over Vic bowed his head to the audience as they cheer. Vic came over to the table and shook Yahnie hand. “Nice to see you again Lieutenant” said Vic. Vic looked over towards the Ferengi and said to Yahnie “A Ferengi but not Nog or Quark and I don’t recognize any one else, so I must not be on Deep Space 9. “No your not. Yahnie had said. You are aboard the USS Victory that is docked at Starbase Assaliant. “I hope you don’t mind but I acquired your program from my brother Steve Youngblood who was aboard Deep Space 9 and saved Dr Bashir’s life and he was so grateful that he gave my brother a copy of your program and had permission to send it to me.” This is Commander Nack and Captain Cir’kem and Ensign Tiana Galwyn.

"Ah - Commander McCormick..." She looked a bit confused. The First Officer was talking to her as if he knew her.
"You don't remember?" He smiled, and turned to the others. Vic, once again, had stopped singing. "She was the first person I met on Starbase Conqueror. We were at the celebration.. Fun Times? Fun In.."
"Fun In Time!" Joan interjected.
"Ah yes - Fun in Time. I believe you, myself, and that Borg drone shared a drink or two. That was before I was Academy trained. How old did you say you were?" Nack was sure she said 17 years old last year. His own mother... adopted mother, always said she was 18 years old with 22 years of experience, thus making her 40... perhaps Joan was the same way.
"I've certainly moved up in the universe, haven't I?" He winked at Cir'kem. The Captain and he certainly had differences in opinion, command style... height.... but where Nack lacked, it seemed she fulfilled. And it was rubbing off. Since Captain Wong left for the USS Olympia, it seems that tension on the ship had become less. Nack heeded the advice of the Captain, and it seemed to help.
Yahnie's explanation to Vic, who clearly was self-aware, was a bit long winded, and Nack --- ironically --- wondered when he was going to finish. Quark and Rom - gah. Contemptible. He was not Ferengi at heart, or so he felt. He was human. So what if he longed for profit...
"Mr. Youngblood, do you mind if I program a Tongo table into here? I used to write holoprograms... medical ones... before joining Starfleet. I could probably whip something up."
Before Yahnie could answer, Nack had already called for the arch, and was busy programming away.

"Thank you captain, I have found my quarters already. I would indeed like to join your little band for awhile before I see what my sickbay looks like," she said and then was taken by surprise by the Ferengi.
"It's good to see you've risen in the universe. It's quite ironic that I am now under your command, but I look forward to our time together," she said taking an empty seat not caring for a drink then.
Joan realized she was feeling evil just then and continued to smile. She remembered a piece of lantinum was in her pocket. She tossed it out on the ground while no one was looking hoping Nack would see it. He did and got up to get it thinking he lost one. While he was gone she carefully placed a whoopie cushion on his chair.
Joan discovered she was a bit thirsty and went to the bar hoping to return just as the incident occurred. She was in luck returning with a smoothie in her hand, and heard when Nack sat back down in his seat. Suddenly she remembered the question about her age as Nack was getting up again to remove the foul object.
"Commander Nack, I am seventeen years old, and will be eighteen in November," she answered hoping that was an answer that sufficed. She took a seat again and sipped on her drink. Joan noticed he didn't wait for an answer before the other man could answer and she smiled wondering if he was as much of an impish creature as she was.
"Commander, I happen to think we don't really need anything gambling in here. Humans have their own gambling arenas in a place like this, but you don't always see them," she said but to no avail.

“how rude of me, my name is Russell Davis, I am the ships counselor” Tiana winced internally when he mentioned that he was a counselor, she hoped he hadn't noticed. It wasn't that she disliked counselors, she just hated being analysed by someone with an agenda. Fortunately it he didn't seem to have one. An advantage of starfleet over back home.
Russell picked up the last bag and kept it, “well I might as well help you get this to your quarters, lead the way” She headed down the hallway with a murmured thank-you. Russell followed her.
“Well by the looks of your books, you are a scientist. I am right am I not?”
Tiana glanced down at the top book in the armful she was carrying and laughed. "I guess not many people read 'Advanced four dimensional gravitational theory' for recreational purposes. You are quite correct though, I'm the new Chief Science Officer. I gather the Victory hasn't had a CScO for while and I'm a little nervous."
Russell smiled, “well it is nice to see a new face on the Victory, hopefully our next mission will be kind on you” He seemed a little jittery as he spoke, but maybe she was imagining it.
“how long have you been aboard Tiana, you do not mind me calling you Tiana?”
Tiana gave another smile "Feel free to call me Tiana or Ti if you prefer." She paused a second, remembering that all those counselors he had met hadn't been particular sticklers for protocol. "Umm, how do you prefer to be addressed, sir" 'Better to err on the side of politeness and actually ask' she thought

"I guess I've been on board about four hours. I've met the Captain, ended up having a meal with the First Officer, which was an 'interesting' experience, and then briefly got to visit Commander Youngblood's holosimulation on 1962 Las Vegas. Then I decided I really ought to get my things sorted out." She shook her head slightly as she opened the door her quarters and stepped through with Russell still following. She dropped her armful on the floor to join the pile that was all ready there and gestured for the Russell to to the same.
"That's the last of it. It's been a slightly crazy day and I haven't even seen the science labs yet. However," She surveyed the knee high pile of of stuff, that she knew would take an age to sort through. "I am officially moved in now. I think I'm going to have a drink to celebrate, do you want one?"

Nack pointed to the device left in his chair before he sat back down. "What is this?"
"I believe it is called a 'whoopee-cushion'" Vic said, visiting the table again between songs.
"Why did Commander McCormick place this on my chair?" It was legitimate confusion. This foreign object looked like it could be an interesting, yet simple, toy.
"It's an old Earth prank. You sit on it, it makes a flatulent sound.. and everyone gets a laugh at your expense. Quite simple, yet effective."
Nack looked at Captain Cir'kem. "She is our new CMO?" The Captain agreed, and then gave him disapproving eyes, as if he were not being a good sport.
"I suppose she is a child still... only seventeen and all." Nack relented, and uneventfully sat down on the object just as he saw Joan returning. She let out a short giggle. Nack was glad he could be a good sport.
All sportsmanship went out the window when Joan suggested to Nack that perhaps gaming should be removed from the establishment. As if a bar-room fight were about to occur, everyone started a new conversation with someone, in an effort to divert their attention from the impending rant Nack was undoubtedly going to let out.
"Well, it's a good thing some of us aren't human, Commander." He said coyly. He stood up, removed the whoopee cushion that had stuck to his rear, and pulled out a padd from the back pocket. "Chief Medical Officer, right?"
She nodded.
"I have a whole list of items here that need to be completed onboard in main sickbay by the new CMO. We haven't had one in a long time, you know." He smiled. "Although, if you would like to join some of us for a Tongo game," he pointed over to the table he had created just moments earlier, "then perhaps those duties could wait."
"And - your age makes no difference. The station's legal age for gambling purposes is 16, and I already have accounted for security looking the other way within the simulation. Can you believe that, on Earth, you had to be 21?"
Pretty unbelievable, considering in 1960 earth, that was approximately a third of one's life without gambling. Nack wondered how and why humans could deprive themselves of so much for so long.
"I'll go over and set it up. I'll see you all over there in a few." He tossed the whoopee cushion to Mr. Youngblood, who bobbled it before it landed in Joan's smoothie.
"Oops!"

“Hello,” Nika said to...Vic. She found it a little odd that she was talking to a hologram, but it was far from the strangest thing that had happened in the last, say, five minutes or so. Top on that list probably had to be the new chief medical officer and the 'whopee' cushion, as Vic explained it.
Not only could he sing—an art form not exactly appreciated by the Firont, and therefore not one Nika had been exposed to, at all, during her childhood. Hence one she didn't exactly think she could fully appreciate—he also seemed able to explain things without confusing the issue any more.
Nika watched her new medical officer and Nack interact for a short while longer, before he left to set up Tongo. “And I guess that would mark the end of your official welcome aboard the ship, Commander. I'm sure you're aware that Nack's threat doesn't stand, that list of duties can, and will, wait, whether you play Tongo or not. One of the few advantages of being his superior officer,” Nika joked, hoping the new recruit also knew she was joking.
“So, you're welcome not to join us. You're also welcome to join us. Although I have to admit that I've never played Tongo before, so I have no real idea what's going to happen. But from the look on Nack's face, I think I should be prepared to lose money.” Nika stood up from the table, and went to join Nack, wondering whether Commanders Youngblood or McCormick would join them.
“Care to explain this game to me?” she asked Nack.

Joan chuckled at the list. "I'm sure it is something that can wait. I'm not one for gambling though, so I will just watch you play Tongo. As for being human, well yes my DNA would suggest that. However I grew up on a planet where I was the only human around for a couple of light years. I am still learning what it is to be completely human, but I am finding the experience of finally being human and having it be a good thing something incredibly rewarding," she said and smiled knowing the explanation wasn't needed, but she felt it was a good thing to give. She saw the look on his face and her smile deepened a little.
"Sorry, I have known to share my intellect quite often, if it annoys let me know," she said and left her ruined drink at the table as she accompanied them over to the Tongo table. She watched them play a little and found it bored her, so she went over getting a new smoothie and returning to the table where someone else sat.
"Hello, Commander Youngblood, this is an interesting program. Is it anything like Earth was at that time? I am curious to all Earth information. I still have much to learn," she said before taking a drink of her strawberry banana smoothie.

<Holodeck 2>
After the brief introductions Vic was a bit confused. Yahnie went over to where Vic was and talked to him.” Vic, I received this program from my brother who was on Deep Space 9 before heading to his next assignment. There was a huge battle on the station where Steve saved Dr. Bashir’s life. He was so grateful that he offered your program to him. Dr. Bashir told Steve that he could give Yahnie a copy of your program but not anyone else and he told me all about your unique style. Vic went on break for about a ½ hour. After talking to Vic, Yahnie had returned to his table.
<Meanwhile back to the Table where Yahnie’s guests are.>
Joan McCormick had joined the table. As she approached the table and sat down Yahnie had turned to where she sat down and said to her, “Hi Joan, How have you been? It’s been awhile since I seen you when I was assigned to the USS. Hepta and severed under Captain Edwards. I am now a Lieutenant Commander and CTSO of the Victory.
"Hello, Commander Youngblood, this is an interesting program. Is it anything like Earth was at that time? I am curious to all Earth information. I still have much to learn," she said before taking a drink of her strawberry banana smoothie.
In the year 1961 casino hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada Earth is a entertainment center of the Untied States of America. In 1961 it was a time when our country was about to go to war and it would have been a Nuclear War in which Cuba had the United States worried because Cuba was not far from the USA. Also in that time period Hippies and free Love was taken place in the USA. They had a big concert to denied the war in Vietnam. Hippies wore clothing that appeard. They were called babie killers and other suh names which America didn’t stand for. I’m sorry fr ranbing on lnke I am but the 60’s of earth is what I am interested in.”

Scene: Shuttlecraft: Copernicus
“Cmdr Matthew was looking over at a padd Containing the new Victory personal list since he left on his shore leave some new senior Department head have been assigned a new Cso/Cmo/ and ship Counselor as his shuttle was passing through the stars at speeds much faster than light. He knew the controls of the shuttle like the back of his hand.
“The back of the shuttle was space devoted to James’s luggage. All his bags were Starfleet issue and really didn't take up that much space.
“A chiming noise sounded to let James know he had arrived at his Destination. With just a few taps on the console the shuttle dropped from warp to 3 quarters impulse power and it kept getting slower and slower.
"This is the Shuttlecraft Copernicus requesting docking Clearance," James said after entering some Commands in to the communications console.
“There was a brief pause and then over the comm. system came a faint voice. [Request accepted, you are clear to dock in bay 3]
"Acknowledged Victory" was James's only reply as he steered the shuttle towards the appropriate port.
“As soon as James had gathered his things he made his way to his Quarters as he walk down the corridor heading for a Turbo lift thinking to him self well the old Girl is still in one piece well I better check in with Cmdr Nack get a Quick meal and get some sleep
