Zhuk was taking a rare moment to enjoy Andorian Red Bat soup, or at least a grand simulation of it from the replicator. Theel'zhiin had bits and pieces of the same, but raw strips only.
After finishing his meal, Zhuk stood there in his quarters, looking out into the vastness of space. The stars were streamig by as if it was they that were at warp speed, and not the Jefferson. Having located these lizards, and now staring out into space, made Zhuk realize again that there are still so many unknowns out there. Whether it was an animal species, or a plant, or even more alien life forms of the sentient kind...they (Starfleet) were only aware of a very minute portion of it, and even within it there were still undiscovered secrets.
Turning to look at his life companion that was now impressed upon him, Theel'zhiin, his blue firelizard, Zhuk suddenly realized that he didn't have the faintest idea of his origin. He would make it a point to find out when they returned to Starbase Assailant. Zhuk's thoughts were interupted.
"Uh sir, we have a problem..."
Zhuk recognized the Commander reynold's voice through the comm badge. The fact that it was laced with some trepidation was a bit disconcerting.
"What is it Commander?"
"One of the firelizards is loose within the Jeffrey tubes...sir. I already have search teams out looking for it. I'm pretty sure that we can isolate and contain it."
Zhuk let the silence linger on, knowing that this would get the point across of his disbelief and disappointment of the lack of protocol.
"Understood. Keep me posted. Let's not get too concerned, this is why we have redundant systems. Just the same, make the capture a quick one...please!"
"Aye, sir!"
The comm badge chirped off. Zhuk just gave a little smile, knowing that there had been worse situations before.
Lifting Theel'zhiin up into his arms, he walked into his sleep chambers to settle down for a quick nap, in hopes of having the creature captured when he woke up.
