Reckus filled up the top drawer of the emergency trolley and entered the last item into his PADD. He was feeling exhausted and in dire need of some time to himself.
"Here y'go Jate"
Jatan turned round to see Caldwell approach him with another PADD in his hand.
"All checks are completed, Sickbay is stocked as best she can be." Caldwell continued. "And there's also a list of supplies that we will need when we get back to the Bellicose"
Jatan studied the list carefully. "Hmmm ok, not as badly depleted as I first thought" he said, rubbing the back of his head. "I shall forward this to the medical supplies unit"
He walked across to his office and sat down in the chair behind his desk. He began to enter the details from the PADD into the main computer and then forwarded his request to the Medical Supplies unit on Bellicose. That way he knew that the stuff needed for Sickbay would be ready well before they would be due to leave for the next mission.
He kicked off his shoes and relaxed in the chair, closing his eyes and humming softly to himself. He then heard Fox announce that docking would occur in 5 mins. He smiled to himself and decided to make his way to his quarters, to pack a bag with some stuff for his shoreleave, still humming a happy tune to himself. He had a lot on his mind and he was pleased that he could let himself go for a while.
He had only been in his quarters for a couple of minutes when he heard a soft knock on the door. He went to open it and found Sevus standing there.
"Hey, what are you doing here little buddy?" he asked with his usual quizical eyebrow. Sevus beamed at him.
"I came to say bye bye for a while Uncle Jatan" he replied as Reckus scooped him up. "Mother is taking us to visit some of her friends on the base and so I guess you wont be with us"
"No, it's important that she meets up with her friends" Reckus said, smiling. Although he felt slightly peeved that he would not see Sonak for a few days, he thought it might be beneficial to their relationship to be apart.
"Listen my little friend, I shall see you and your brother and sisters again very soon. But as you are the oldest you need to be the man of the family and look after them and your Mom"
Sevus nodded solemly. "I promise I shall take good care of them all" he replied, and he wrapped his arms around Jatan's neck, squeezing him tightly. "I love you Uncle Jatan" he added softly.
Jatan felt a lump in his throat form as it was the first time he had heard that from Sonak's older two. He knew that he had developed a bond with them and now he realised how much he must mean to them. He kissed Sevus on the forehead and said "I love you too kiddo" before setting him down.
The ship shuddered gently as she docked with the Bellicose and then Sonak's voice rang through the ship.
"Welcome back all of you to the Bellicose. I would like my departmental heads to meet me in my briefing room before disembarkment"
Reckus smiled "Come Sevus, let's go" and Sevus took his hand as they made their way out of the doctors quarters.
Sonak stood in the middle of the briefing room. "I would just like to thank you all once again for your unwavering loyalty and support during the last mission. I think we all deserve this weeks R&R more than ever." Around her, heads nodded in agreement.
<tags?>
"I shall wish you all a pleasant time and I shall see you all when we next reconvene here" she added. "Ok, you are all dismissed"
<Sonak?>

Branson and Grant stood in Engineering, casually watching the goings-on. Branson: Well, Jack, looks like our time here is finished. Lets join that meeting. We need to make our report. Branson and Grant proceeded to the turbolift. As they rode it, Branson once more read the PADD that contained the report he was about to give. There was another PADD underneath. They went through the Bridge and into the Briefing room. Everyone seemed a little surprised as they walked in and stood along the back wall. As the crew slowly filed out, Branson and Grant stepped forward. Branson: Commodore, our job here is finished. Here is everything we would have to file with the Corps about what we found wrong with the Vesuvius. He took the second PADD and handed it to her. Her face dropped as she read the long list of problems they found. She looked up and was about to speak. Branson: However, given the extraordinary situation your crew has been through the past few days, we have decided to file an alternate report ::lifted other PADD:: It reads as follows: "Due to extenuating circumstances during the inspection of the USS Vesuvius conducted by the Inspector, Commander Doug Branson, the aforementioned Inspector has granted a reprieve to the Vesuvius." ::he lowered the PADD:: You may do whatever you wish with that list of problems. Give to your Engineer, recycle it, toss out the nearest airlock, or whatever you feel like doing to it. We take our leave now. Good bye, Commodore. Branson and Grant turned and left the Briefing Room, and then the Vesuvius, returning to Bellicose (OOC: I just want to say that I've had a lot of fun on this mission with all of you. For anyone who had not been informed yet, my real identity is Commander Dan Trek. This isn't good-bye though. I've arranged with Sonak to stay on as your new CEO. So be prepared for a new face in the next coming week. )

"I shall give it to the new chief engineer," Sonak replied, just before the engineering duo walked out, "after all we cannot go about with all these problems unfixed. My thanks, gentlemen also in your aid on last mission."
Sonak was relieved that they would not be reprimanded, though she also believed that a prototype vessel could hardly be in perfect working order. She walked out of the briefingroom, ready to meet up with the admiral for lunch aboard starbase when Jatan stopped her.
"Walking me to the dock?" Sonak asked playfully, as she hooked her arm through his. "I am going to have lunch with admiral MC7," she told him, "we had planned to do so before last mission. But I am reserving dinner for you." She smiled at him as they walked together. "Would you look after the children? I will be back in a few hours. I am still under orders to stay away from the bridge, you might want to tell John that I know very well what is good for me....and for me the best thing is to stay on duty."
She hoped that Jatan was going to agree on that, but by the look on his face, she could tell that he wasn't going to tell John Caldwell anything. She sighed as they walked on, and finally their ways parted as Jatan was going to see too the medical supplies and she was going to have lunch with the admiral.

L'Ola grudgingly got up. Being awake wasn't much fun at the moment. Although she had stayed in her hiding place for less than half a day she hadn't exactly been making an effort to make her presence known. In fact, assuming they'd finally located her biosigns in a back up file there was nothing to stop the transporters locating her and sending her to sickbay.
Luckily, no one had done anything yet. Travelling through Jeffries' tubes most of the way, L'Ola hadn't run into anyone on her way to her quarters. And she'd stayed there ever since. No visitors, no messages, nothing.
Until then. Ten minutes after she'd forced herself into conciousness, the door chime went off.
"Yeah, come in."
<sorry, too tired to finish now. Anyone can pick this up if they want or not if they don't want.>

{OOC} Continued from my last post on the mission thread...
{IC} The counseling session began well enough, but soon the hypnosis under which Meylor was put revealed the important memories buried in his subconcious. Fortunately, as McVaye was emphatic in pointing out, the relative ease in exposing the suppressed feelings, as well as Meylor own presensce of mind to think of getting help for himself, was encouraging for his recovery. It would take some more time to fully sort things out, but McVaye was confident of the young Bajoran's ability to face the challenge.
Right now, however, there was a more immediate problem. The most disturbing memory uncovered concerned Meylor's abortive attempt to steal a shuttlecraft. Apparently, he had every intention of making off with the vehicle, even if it meant blasting through the bay doors. However, at some point his demented thought process realized the crime he had been about to committ, and the pervading guilt complex only worsened. By this time almost entirely despondent, Meylor had rigged the shuttle's engine core to overload in a final desperate gesture of escape. At that point, Meylor had blacked out from exhaustion, but was quickly rescued by security who had been previously locked out of the bay. Meylor later awoke to find himself in sickbay, having suffered only mild omicron radiation exposure from the shuttle's engines that he had sabotaged. He had no memory of any of it, however, and was pronounced physically fit to return to Bridge duty, where he had been needed. From there, his memory of events was clear up to the present moment. Now, however, the recovered memories and their consequences demanded to be addressed.
The damaged shuttle had been secured in the hours following the incident, but a great deal of omicron radiation had already leaked out into the surrounding decks, threatening several crewmembers. Most of these had been alerted and ordered to report to Sickbay, which they had done. However, Meylor (with the help of Security) had gone over the sensor logs of the time period in question, finding that one crewmember had been unaccounted for: Commander L'Ola Kanz. Apparently, her life signs were nowhere to be found, and Meylor feared the worst. If she had been in the vicinity of the radiation leak, she could still be contaminated, her condition only worsening as time went by. Meylor searched for her everywhere, but without success. Finally, nearly spent from worry, he stopped back at her quarters once more, on the off chance that some clue might be found as to her whereabouts. The door chime went off.
"Yeah, come in."

"All hands prepare for docking. Please return all table trays to their upright positions and fasten safty belts. Oh and welcome to Starbase Bellicose." Nick announced over the intercomm as the dock clamps were heard throughout the ship. He leaned back in his chair and ran a hand through his mop of hair. ~should probably visit Mr. Mott~ He let out a sigh. He hated hair cuts, they were always such an inconvinience. If only the Starfleet regulations weren't so strict.
"Oh well," He muttered.
"Sir?" Ensign Tomar asked from the comm. Nick smiled.
"Don't worry about it. I'll see you later."
"Take care sir, have fun," the ensign said turning back to his diagnostics.
A short time later Nick walked out of his cabin with a large duffle bag. So large in fact that it drew the attention of passing crewmen. Curtly he sidstepped into a turbolift and the doors closed. He grinned at the other occupant and put down the bag. A soft "OOF" was heard. The guy raised an eyebrow, Nick just stared at the cieling whistling.
Finally the turbo lift stopped and Nick once again picked up the bag and slung it over his shoulder. He looked over back making sure the way was clear and kept walking.
"Sorry, I'm trying to be gentle. You're not all that light you know." He said quietly.
The bag lurched and a lump of it hit his kineys. He yelped and let out a laugh.
"We're almost there," He assured as they walked up towards the docking ramp. The guard looked quizicly at the bag.
"Hockey equipment," He lied. The guard nodded and let him through.
He quickly made his way to the restaurant (can't remember what it's called) and took a seat. Lucy wandered over reading a padd and checking orders. She stopped at his table and looked up.
"Oh hey! You guys are back already right on," She looked at the scruffy, unshaven commander, then at the duffle bag on the seat next to him. She raised an eyebrow.
"What can I get you Commander?"
"I'll have a Vulcan Mind Meld. Hold the Romulan Ale."
"K, and mom what'll you have?" She leaned against the side of the booth and tapped her foot. The bag slowly unzipped and L'Ola poked her head out. Nick grinned ear to ear at the young Kanzs' intuition.
"How'd you know?" L'Ola asked softly.
"Jason said you didn't show up at sickbay. So I figured you intercepted Nick on his way off the ship."
"Right, rumor mill. Of course," L'Ola sat up in the bag and corrected her uniform and hair. She let out a humph and supressed a smirk. Slowly she cracked and a smile broke.

(OOC: I'm here! Or should I say, I'm Back! ) Nephi sat in his temporary quarters, studying the multiple PADDs spread over the table, all containing information on the Somma-Class USS Vesuvius-A. An intriguing vessel. A voice came over the intercom. "Ops to Lt Jacobson." Nephi sat up from his hunched position, tapping his comm-badge. "Jacobson here." "You asked me to let you know when the Vesuvius arrived? Well they're here." "Thanks, Marty. Jacobson out," he said, tapping his comm-badge. Having someone he trained with in the Academy with working in Ops of Starbase Bellicose was helpful when he wanted information. He stood up, and went over to another table, grabbing a seperate PADD. He then walked over to the panel on the wall and tapped it. "Computer, locate Commander Nick Martens, First Officer of the USS Vesuvius." "Commander Nick Martens is on the Restaraunt Level." "Show me a map of that level including Commander Martens' location." Up came the map, with a pulsing light to indicate Martens' position. He studied the map, then turned and left his quarters, the PADD in his hand. Lt JG Nephi Jacobson strode through the corridor of the Starbase, with as long of strides as his short legs could carry him without hunching over. His Inuit blood made him only 5'6", but it was made up for by his stocky build. His short, thick black hair reflected the light as he walked, as well as his tanned skin. He took a turbolift to the Restaurant and headed in the direction of the restaurant the Computer had indicated. He walked in, looked at the PADD, then looked around carefully. He then located Commander Martens sitting at a booth, and sat down at the nearest table. Sitting next to him was a woman in a Starfleet Uniform who was sitting in what appeared to be a duffle bag; odd. "May I get you something?" Nephi turned away from Martens and face the female server at his table. "Uh yes, Terran orange juice." "Coming right up," she said and walked away. Nephi turned back to Commander Martens, looking at the PADD periodically. Martens began to notice his gaze, and looked back at him more and more frequently. The server came back with the drink and placed it on the table with a "Here you go." He thanked her and she walked away. He sipped it, then looked at Martens again. Eventually Martens seemed to grow annoyed at this and turned to face him. "I'm sorry, but why do you keep looking at me? Are you Security or something? And whats on that PADD?" Nephi stood from his chair and walked over. He placed the PADD on the table, which showed a biographical picture of Martens. " Greetings, Commander Martens. I'm Lieutenant Junior Grade Nephi Jacobson. I'm your new Chief Engineer."

Sonak walked out of the briefingroom, ready to meet up with the admiral for lunch aboard starbase when Jatan stopped her.
Jatan smiled. "OK I'll play babysitter if you promise that you wont overdo things....no planning ANYTHING" he said firmly. They stopped and he ran his fingers down her face.
"I do worry about you and it's difficult being so involved with you whilst also being your physician" he said.
"I know and I appreciate that fact Jate" she replied, enjoying feeling his touch. She had come to the conclusion that her man must have some sort of electricity running through him as she always felt 'strange' when they shared a tender moment - whether it was because they both shared the same psychic ability or something else, she wasnt sure, but she had a good idea now of the sensation that humans had from time to time, that they call goosebumps.
"Hmmmm well so long as you do...." he smiled and kissed her tenderly. "Ive made reservations for us for dinner tonight - I'm going to show you a little place I know that does one of my favourite foods of all time" he continued.
Sonak raised an eyebrow "I take it Mr Reckus, that means one of your old earth style cuisines?!" she teased. "Better make sure I have some Zantac with me then" she continued, referring to an old earth cure for acid indigestion. Not that she minded trying something new, she was rather open minded and besides, it was chance to spend some quality time with her friend and lover, hopefully more as the lover part she thought to herself.
"Well you'll see" he replied winking at her. "Seeing as we are both going our seperate ways tomorrow it would be nice to spend a nice evening together, away from our ship mates" he said, drawing her close to him and squeezing her gently. Sonak buried her head in his neck and kissed him lightly once or twice.
"Agreed, it will be nice to be off the ship for a while". She pulled away from him. "Now my love, I must go and get ready otherwise I will be late for lunch"
He chuckled. "Ok darling, I understand" he sighed theatrically and squeezed her thigh playfully. "Please pass on my regards to Admiral MC7....I guess I now need to go and round up the little ones"
They kissed gently and hugged. "I will do - enjoy your time with the children" she said and with that she turned away and walked off in the opposite direction.
Jatan watched her go with a concerned look in his eye. He knew something was wrong but he couldnt quite put his finger on it....

"daddy daddy!" little Shanna cried, running towards Jatan on her short legs. The one year old twins knew no-one else as their father but Jatan and had taken to calling him 'dad'.
A little behind her followed her twin, together with the elder twins. "Are you going to show us the starbase uncle Jatan?" Sevus asked, "apparently mother will be busy for a few hours." The boy looked thoughtful for a moment, and exchanged glances with his twin. "Uncle Jatan...mother seems unhappy about something. It is not about you is it?"
He glanced up at the man expectantly, hoping to get a negative answer, that it was not him that was the problem.
"Daddy?" Shanna asked, tugging his pant leg, then held up her arms.
~~ on starbase ~~
Sonak approached MC's office slowly; she was growing increasingly nervous and it wasn't just because of their ordeal on the holodeck before last mission. Lately, she was nervous around just about any male, especially if there were no other women around.
~this is ridiculous~ she chided herself ~he is one of my closest friends, and as ex-borg he should be the first to understand!~
She stopped before the door to his office, then hesitated. Her hand trembled as she knocked on the door, then entered. Her heart was racing, and there was no way she could control it, however much she wanted to. "Admiral?" she called in, "you have not forgotten our appointment, have you?" She knew how forgetful the admiral could be at times.

Jatan looked down at Shanna pulling at his trouser leg and smiled.
"hello sweetie" he said as he picked her up and held her close to him. He then turned to look at Sevus, and he could see decades rather than a few years on his face.
"Your Mom is acting very strange and currently I have no explanation for this" he answered. "But rest assured, that it is certainly nothing to do with you, your siblings or me for that matter" he added firmly, but with a smile.
"She worries me" Sevus said, looking anxious.
"You are a most considerate boy Sevus, but I feel that you should not worry too much about her. She has her own way of dealing with things, but I will be keeping my eye on her - trust me"
Sevus nodded. "I do trust you Uncle Jatan, very much" and he smiled slightly.
"Good, I'm glad that you do" replied Reckus. "Now, lets go and have some fun" as he scooped Seliv up and began to walk off towards the base.
"Now, where first?!"

"The arboretum," T'Kimi said.
Sevus groaned. "Not the arboretum Kimi," he grunted, "we go there everytime! I want to go to the mazes...you know?" Then he noticed the pained expression on Jatan's face. "Oh ok, not a good idea. Fine, the playgrounds in the arboretum then."
T'Kimi smiled, and grabbed her twin's hand, starting to pull him along. "Come on, or the swings will be taken!" The two ran ahead of Jatan, who followed with the two toddlers on his arms.
"daddy?" little Seliv started, "can we go on the swings too?"
Just then a large white feline came pouncing by, and skidded to a halt when she saw the doctor with the two kids on his arms. "Need help sir?" she purred, "I am off duty now. Snowfall to Srallansre at your service...also admiral MC7's personal guard, though he doesn't know that." She purred again, waiting for Reckus' answer.
"Hey wait a minute," she suddenly said, "I know you! You're the doctor, from the Vesuvius. You were rescued from the holodeck a scant two months ago, together with the admiral and a Vulcan woman....yes, I remember. How do you do?"

Reckus watched the two older twins race off with a smile on his face and a slight sense of pride, even though they werent his kids.
He turned around to face the other twins who quite rightly wanted to join their older siblings in play. As he did so his line of vision was broken by a blur of white...
"Snow...er what?" he said, puzzled after the creature had introduced itself. The large bundle of fur smiled.
"You can just call me Snowfall" it replied, offering a large paw. Reckus took it and shook it firmly.
"Commander Jatan Reckus, CMO of the USS Vesuvius....but I guess you knew that already?" he laughed.
"Yes, I do remember you from before sir" the Sivaoan replied. "How is Commodore Sonak?"
"She is fine, she needs a little bit of rest but I dont think for a moment she will keep to it" Jatan replied, rolling his eyes. They both laughed.
"So, may I assist you in anyway?" asked Snowfall.
"Well you can walk with me to the playground if you like" replied Reckus. "I've never met one of your species before either so it's fascinating for me...."

"You are welcome to examine," Snowfall said, taking one of the toddlers up in her arm. "The play ground is quite a walk for these little ones. They're the commodore's I take it?"
The two walked on, each carrying a child. "So, you and her are involved aren't you?" she suddenly asked, "I remember hearing some rumours about it, but I never believed them to be true. But I can see from your expression, that it is indeed true."
She laughed at his surprised expression. "Now now, I am a security guard for a reason you know. I am trained to read people, if their intentions are good or bad. I've also known the commodore for a long time and I'd claw anyone who would hurt her feelings. Oh yeah she'd say she possesses none, but I know better! She's not like any other Vulcan I've met. Yes, you be good to her doctor...."
She smiled and set the child down, as they reached the playground. "Tell me though, how did the two of you end up together?"

"You are welcome to examine," Snowfall said, taking one of the toddlers up in her arm. "The play ground is quite a walk for these little ones. They're the commodore's I take it?"
"Yes they are indeed. Their father was killed long before they were born" he replied, hoisting Seliv onto his shoulders.
The two walked on, each carrying a child. "So, you and her are involved aren't you?" she suddenly asked,
Jatan felt himself go very red, very quickly.
"Erm...well...we erm...." he offered.
"I remember hearing some rumours about it, but I never believed them to be true. But I can see from your expression, that it is indeed true."
Still red faced, he looked away coyly, then back at Snowfall somewhat surprised and slightly embarrassed.
They settled on a bench and watched as the children played together with some other kids.
"Er, well I guess we got closer after Seliv Senior died. I just tried to help her out as much as possible" he started, pausing to clear his throat. "Not long after Seliv passed away, I discovered that some dormant psychic abilities had come to the surface, which kind of bought us even closer together..."
He noticed that Snowfall was sitting there listening and nodding from to time.
"Then we had like an 'encounter' during this holodeck programme thing which went a bit wrong...when we came round we couldnt remember it at first but then these feelings and flashbacks kept coming and we just talked about it all...."
"Thats so nice" said Snowfall wistfully. "But you'd better be good to her Doc otherwise there'll be trouble!"
"Oh trust me, my intentions are truely noble" he replied. "Ive got plans" he added, winking at her.
"Oh do tell" she replied, to which Reckus just shook his head. "You'll have to wait and see" he said.
"I'm taking her to dinner tonight" he said "Gonna go see my old friend Mario" he grinned.
Snowfall laughed "well hopefully she will like the cuisine in that case"
"I hope so too" replied Reckus. "But we wont be seeing each other for a few days so I just want to spend some quality time with her tonight, the kids are being looked after by my chief nurse and they'll be picked up tomorrow"
"So when will you be springing this surprise then?"
"I'm not 100% sure yet Snowfall, but I might need your help for that occasion - maybe as a babysitter?" he asked.

"babysitter?" Snowfall asked, her ears perking forward, her tail curling into a tight corkscrew. Then her tail snaked forward to wrap around Jatan's wrist. "Yes, I think I would like that, if my duties of guarding the admiral will not interfere with that. Though, perhaps my friend firestorm, a nurse here on the station, may want to help too."
She paused, watching the children. "Sometimes I feel sorry for her," she murmured, "four young children, and none will remember their father much. How does she manage, I wonder."
She rubbed her paws together then jumped to her feet. "Come, let's join their play. I promise I will keep my claws sheated!" Snowfall pulled the human doctor to his feet by aid of her tail, and whether he wanted to or not, dragged him to the playground. "Can we join in?" she asked the children, "what are you playing?"
"Hide and seek," Sevus replied, then grinned mischievously. "Uncle Jatan, you're it. Count to twenty slowly, then come find us."
Snowfall purred, releasing Jatan's wrist. "Sounds like a good idea. You may show me how this game works little one." She turned to Jatan. "No cheating!" When the human turned, she and the boy ran off to hide.

Mc7 was sitting in his office going over the latest Intelligence reports when the chime for his office door sounded. Come. As the doors parted, the Admiral looked up from his desk to see his old friend, and newly promoted, Commodore Sonak enter into his office. Admiral? she called in, you have not forgotten our appointment, have you?
If I said no, would you believe me? he replied from behind his desk. Sonak gave him a weak smile, I don't think I would, Sir. Take a seat Commodore, I'll only be a few minutes, and with that, the Vesuvius' CO sat down facing the Admiral.
Sir, would it be possible for me to discuss a........personal matter with you? Of course Sonak, you know better than to ask that. In the office, I'm mc7, and your Sonak. Leave your rank at the door. Ok, we'll, this is hard for me................

She sat down opposite of him, accepting the warm drink he ordered unasked from the replicator, and rearranged her dress. She wouldn't meet his eyes, as lately she would not meet the eyes of any man.
Her voice sounded hoarse as she started to speak. "This is not easy," she whispered, rolling the mug between her hands, "but I believe that in your position you would be the only one to understand. I have talked to Counselor McVaye and he nearly exploded, I have tried talking to Jatan but I do not believe that he has actually understood what I have told him."
She heard him walk around his desk, and lean against it on her side of it. She felt him place his hand under her chin, and allowed him to raicse up her face to him. "Tell me," he said softly.
Sonak nodded, and started to explain the last two weeks of their mission in deteil. The ordeal she and L'Ola had been through, the rape and facing Kate. "I have never before been so scared," she whispered, her voice breaking, "and what I fear most is being pregnant. I do not wish to be pregnant, if the child is not Jatans, and I know for certain it cannot be Jatan's."
Tears streamed down her face as she sobbed quietly. Again she felt the dull ache in her abdomen, but she was determined to ignore it. "I do not know if I am, but I do not wish to be." She looked up at him, wiping the tears from her face. "You must think this is silly," she said, "I am a Vulcan, and am not supposed to have emotions. Well, I have...."
She fell silent, waiting for her friend to react. She had no idea how long she had been speaking, but the low rumble in her stomach told her that it had been quite some time. "We should to eat something," she said, giving him a weak smile, "I am feeling better now." With the sleeve of her dress, she wiped the remaining tears from her face. "Really, I do."

The two sat at their table laughing about the day. At how fast the gossip thread was, at how curious the crew was about the duffle bag.
"Gomez thought I was transfering," Nick said with a smile. "The last time he saw me with that large a bag was at the academy. It was just as before getting assigned to Vesuvius."
L'Ola leaned over and whispered in his ear, "That guy's been standing off ot the side for 15 mins now." She motioned slightly to the young Lieutenant at the bar. Lucy brought him what looked to be Orange juice. She glanced over at the table then made her way over.
"Says he's looking for the Xo of Vesuvius," she said softly walking past to the next table. Nick looked over at L'Ola and raised an eyebrow.
After a few more minutes he had enough. He turned around and waved the Lieutenant over.
"I'm sorry, but why do you keep looking at me? Are you Security or something? And whats on that PADD?"
The man put the padd on the table and Nicks picture was on it. A frown folded the ridges on his forehead. This had to be someone from the Agency, not good. He looked up as the man extended his hand.
"Greetings, Commander Martens. I'm Lieutenant Junior Grade Nephi Jacobson. I'm your new Chief Engineer."
The tension in Nicks face melted away. He smiled and sat back and took hold of Nephis hand.
"Welcome. Sonak mentioned something about getting a new CEO. We had quite the competition for the spot. Lots of people wanting to serve on the famed Vesuvius."
"I believe it sir."
"Nick, the names Nick. Sir is for on duty on the bridge. This is shore leave. Get your stuff on the ship and have some fun. We disembark in a few days. Oh and Mr. Jacobson, Welcome to the Vesuvius."

Jatan could hear giggling as the kids ran off.
"18...19...20! Here I come, ready or not!" he called.
He set off towards the slide. Nope, nobody there. He then set off towards the climbing frame.... nobody there either. He was a bit rusty at this, he hadn’t played hide and seek for years. Suddenly he heard laughing and looked around...it was coming from the refuse receptacle that was by the swings. He carefully made his way up to the bin and peered over the top of it. Sitting huddled together were Shanna and Seliv. ~ Always inseparable ~ he thought to himself. "Ah ha! I’ve found you!" he said and picked the twins up as they squealed with delight.
“Now, let’s see if we can find the others” he said to them, and they both nodded in agreement.
The three stalked around the playground when Jatan spotted a long white tail sticking out from behind a bush. ~ Looks familiar ~ he thought to himself, grinning. He parted the bush’s leaves and found Snowfall with her arms wrapped around T’Kimi.
“Shhhh” he put his finger to his lips and winked at Snowfall. “Hey Shanna, come look at what I’ve found!” he called.
Shanna came running up to him. “What is it Daddy?” she asked.
“Look” he said as he pointed at Snowfall’s tail. He saw her eyes widen in excitement and she started laughing as the tail suddenly began to wiggle. Reckus lifted her up so she could see what was in the bush.
“OOOHHH!! Found you, found you!” she said excitedly and began to giggle.
“Clever girl!” said Snowfall, brushing the leaves off her fur and lifting ‘Kimi out of their hiding place. “Now, where can Sevus possibly be?”
They all separated and went off in search of Sevus. Unbeknownst to them, he had hidden himself up a tree. ~ They’ll never find me here ~ he thought and smiled to himself.
The little party searched for 15 minutes, but they couldn’t find Sevus. “OK Sevus, we give up!” called Snowfall.
“You win Sevus!” Jatan called out. “Come on and show us where your hiding place was!”
“I’m here!” called back Sevus, who peered out at them from a tall branch. “I knew you wouldn’t find me” he added triumphantly.
“Well done, now come down and we’ll go for something to eat” replied Jatan, walking towards the big tree. Sevus turned round to get back down when suddenly he felt very strange. He realised that he had climbed higher than he thought, and now he found himself stuck.
“Come on Sevus, stop messing about!” called T’Kimi.
“I cant, I’m stuck!!” yelled Sevus. His voice was somewhat scared.
“Uncle Jatan, Sevus has got stuck up the tree!”
Jatan looked up. “Hang on there Sevus, I’m coming” he called up. He turned round to face Snowfall. “Would you mind just keeping an eye on them for a moment?” he asked her.
“No problem” she purred back.
Jatan raised his arms up and jumped. The first branch was about 7 foot from the ground but he easily grabbed it and swung himself up. He then steadily began to climb towards Sevus, who by now was whimpering. Jatan set himself on the same branch.
“You all right?” he asked. “Come on, I’ll buy you something nice at the restaurant” He positioned himself to get back down the tree.
“OK, now just hold onto my back and we’ll be back on terra firma in no time” he beamed at Sevus who climbed on to Jatan’s back and held on with all his might. They began the slow climb back down, and when they got to the last branch, Snowfall held her arms out and Sevus gladly jumped into them.
“That was very impressive,” she said as Jatan dusted himself off. “You must be extremely strong and agile”
“Yeah I guess so” he replied. “I like to look after myself and I used to love climbing as a boy” He knelt down by Sevus. “That’ll teach you to be a bit more rational and careful in your choosing of hiding places,” he said gently. Sevus nodded sadly. “It’s a tough lesson, I know. Plus its being embarrassed in front of your siblings.” He put an arm around Sevus. “You’ll bounce back kiddo, I know you will”
Sevus smiled slightly “Thank you for coming up after me Uncle Jatan”
“No problem. Now then, who’s hungry?” he asked. He was answered by much jumping up and down and a chorus of ‘me me me’. He turned to Snowfall again.
“Any suggestions for a good place to take these guys?” he asked with a grin.

John made his way to the Bellicoses bar quarter - he needed to relax and the best way to do that was a few beers. He finally decided on one on the corner , that happily reminded him of an old english pub...
"Hello darling, what'll it be?" asked the Barmaid
"I'll have a bavarian lager" he replied with a smile on his face.
"Very good" she answered and went to pour him his drink. He didnt usually drink alone, so this was rather new to him, but he was in need of a nice cold beer and neither Jatan or Nick seemed to be around, so needs must and all that....
His beer appeared in front of him and it felt good as his throat felt the icy burn of the brownish liquid.
"Aaaah, I needed that!" he exclaimed to the barmaid. "My liver began to think that my throat had been cut!"
She laughed. "Well good for you sweetheart. I havent seen you round here before"
"ive just gotten off the Vesuvius after a real nightmare mission" he replied. "It feels good to get back here"
She smiled and patted him on the shoulder before going to serve someone else. He suddenly realised that he had this totally wierd feeling in his stomach - butterflies! He had taken a load of exams before the last mission and he was extremely nervous as he remembered that the results were due back any day now.
The results of these exams would allow him to become an assisstant medical officer, and also he was awaiting results of his promotion. He'd been an Ensign for long enough!

Mark Harper was pleased to find the ship all in working order. The sand had been purged from all systems and everything was operating again as it should be. Suddenly, he grinned mischievously causing Fox to look up at him questioningly. "Watch this," he said, "computer, engage cloaking device."
A slight ripple went over the viewscreen and Harper smiled. "The bridge is all yours commander," he grinned, "I'm going for a walk. Besides I have got some news to break to a young ensign of ours..well young...he's been an ensign for quite some time now. tata."
He walked off the ship, startling many a crewman just walking by as he seemed to appear from an empty spacedock spot. "Computer, locate Ensign Caldwell." He smiled as he got he result and walked down to the restaurant. "John Caldwell...I've got some news for you," Harper said, startling the man as he approached him. "I've got the results of your exam....ready? Tah-taaah, you passed! Congratulations!"
Harper beckoned the bartender. "Give him another of what he had, charge it on my account." He turned to the stunned medic. "And another thing, Starfleet Command has granted you a promotion to lieutenant junior grade....took'm long enough if you ask me!" He lifted his drink and downed it in one go. "Oh well....you've really deserved it!"
~~ elsewhere on the station ~~
Snowfal thought deeply for a moment. "Well, I'd say we go to Burger King," she said, "but I guess the kids are vegetarian huh? There's this nice Vulcan restaurant on the station, serves delicious vegetarian salads and burgers and such. They do have meat dishes too....fortunately."
She scooped up little Shanna, who squirmed in her arms. "Wanna walk," the child said. Snowfall set the child down again, and held out a paw for her to hold.
"Ready?" she asked, as T'Kimi took her other paw. "Good, let's go eat then...I can hear your tummies rumble from here!" The children giggled and she corked her tail into a tight screw. "Nice kids," she commented to Jatan, "but why do the younger call you 'dad', while the elder call you 'uncle'?"

{OOC}Continued from my previous post, but taking place some hours afterward. If L'ola or anyone else wishes to elaborate on events in the intervening period, fee free.
{IC}Having attended to vital matters aboard the Vesuvius, Meylor had since signed off duty, and proceeded into the Starbase, unsure how to spend his suddenly free time. A lot was going through his mind at the moment, and it didn't feel as though a vacation felt right. True, a response from his mother about the operation that his father had undergone finally did arrive, and did much to settle his concern. Evidently, the procedure was a success, though recovery was going to be a long, challenging process for the man, something with which his son could relate all too well. His mother seemed to be full of optimism about things; she had always been one to look for the best in any situation.
Despite the all-around good news, Meylor couldn't help but feel uneasy with himself; he had wanted to be home at this important time, and still harbored a measure of guilt for not having been in contact with his parents lately and also for not having long enough shore leave to visit them. Still, his mother had assured him that they both understood his duties and the necessary consequences of such duties; they knew what a life in Starfleet entailed, which is why they had wanted it so much for their son. She ended the letter on a note of encouragment, telling him to write when he could and that his captain had been sent a note of thanks. Meylor was somewhat uncomfortable at this last piece of information; the last thing he desired was undue influence from family on his work. Work was challenging enough without that.
Take, for instance, their last mission. `What a sleigh-ride`, an expression such as his mother might use, seemed to sum things up. But despite the general oddness and admitted fascination of visiting another dimension, there had been definite scars from the exprerience. He had heard reports of many officers undergoing severe trauma while in that other dimension, some (like himself) merely as a result of exposure to a mysterious interspatial environment, others (like the captain and L'Ola Kanz) as a result of more understandable physical and verbal abuse. Meylor still had trouble grasping the enormity of what he had almost done while under his temporary insanity.
Commander Kanz had been exposed to lethal amounts of radiation as a direct result of his mania, and several others had been threatened by the same danger. He kept telling himself that it was not his fault, that his actions and thoughts had not been his own, but it seemed little more than a feeble excuse. Not even Counselor McVaye's analysis could shake him of that conclusion. Others, including First Officer Martens, had told him to make the most of his leave, and he in fact made it an order. Meylor understood their good intentions, but it was going to take time to sort himself out. He just hoped the time available to him was enough.
Walking slowly, if not serenely, through the Primary Mall of the station, he watched others having a riotous time among the shops and cafes. For now, though, he would not join in himself; a period of soothing meditation suited him better. A local holosuite arcade was his destination, there to try out the latest upgrade to his favorite program, Altonian Mind Walker, a combination puzzle/relaxation experience. It had always proved a reliable meditational aid to him ever since the Bolian proprietor, an old friend named Raxit, introduced the progam to him during his last visit to Bellicose. Sure enough, the boisterous man was eagerly awaiting Meylor's arrival when he came in.
"Well-a, well-a, our sailor's back from another adventure on the high spaceways! Good to see your face, young man, although it seems a little pale to me...maybe you'd do better to get out of these dark little rooms awhile, visit somewhere sunny and verdant. I have here a new batch of simulations of the forest world of Doren, with exiting white water rafting on the much vaunted Kalo River..."
Meylor rose a hand and gave a faint smile. "That's alright, Raxit. Just my usual, please. I need some quiet time. Charge it to my account."
Raxit peered back at Meylor with a keen eye. "As you wish, young sailor. But don't spend too long in there, or that face will just get more pale..."

Caldwell was stunned..... A medic and a Lieutenant Junior Grade?!? What was going on?! He watched Harper walk towards the door
"Er, thank you Sir - for the beer and the news!" he said finally. Harper turned back to face him.
"No problem John - the look on your face was priceless. And it's about time you got higher than an Ensign"
"I guess congratulations are in order" said the barmaid, handing him another beer. "Thanks" he said taking it from her.
Taking a sip he stated the obvious "I think its gonna be a long night!"

Sarah sat with her feet up on the desk of the CEOs office on Vesuvius. Her hands knotted behind her head.
"Computer, play some Vivaldi, Four Seasons." The computer beeped and the music began playing. She closed her eyes and swayed her head back and forth to the music.
Thoughts and memories of childhood flooded back. Running through fields of buttercups with dragon flies around. Grandfathers mints hidden inside his desk. Her first engineering assignment in school. It had been a car designed around the maglev systems of the early 21st century. Didn't work too well as she mixed the polarity and the thing spun out of control into a desk.
Now here she sat years later poised to take command of one of the most sought after positions in the fleet. The Chief Engineer of the USS Vesuvius-A. Some might call it a dream come true, she called it fate. However fate was not on her side that day.
"Ahem, excuse me," a voice from the door prompted. Her eyes opened and she turned off the music.
"Can I help you?" She asked, still leaning back in the chair. She had more important things to do and this guy in the door was taking away from that. She fidgeted with the hair on the back of her head.
"Nephi Jacobson is the name and umm yeah you're kinda in my seat," He said quite bluntly. Her eyes turned to slits and could have burned a hole through a targs hide.
"Sorry run that by me again? Your seat? Hey Carl this guy thinks this is his chair," She mocked.
"Oh really?" Came the reply from outside the room. Nephi looked less than amused. He pulled out a padd and tossed it on the desk.
"Orders from Starfleet. I'm the new CEO and you're in my chair."
Sarahs feet slid off the desk and she leaned foreward to read the padd. Sure enough it had transfer orders. She looked back up at Nephi, her brow furrowed. Slowly she stood and motioned to the chair.
"All yours SIR!" She turned and exited the office. She stormed down the hall towards the transporter room. People moved aside to let the brooding engineer pass.
"Computer, Locate Commander Martens and input the coordinates into the transporter."
Seconds later, "Commander Martens is on Bellicose Station. Coordinates are locked."
"Energise," She ordered and stepped up to the pad. Soon Nick materialised, his eyes closed and his lips puckered as to recieve a kiss. Suddenly realising he wasn't on the station anymore he opened one eye. The first thing he saw was Sarah standing looking quite upset with her arms folded. Swiftly she moved grabbing him by the collar and pushing him into the nearest wall.
He hit his combadge, "Security to Transporter room."
"I didn't get the position Nick. I didn't get it because someone said I wasn't ready. Who said it Nick, who said it!?" Her grip tightened.
"You aren't ready. It's been obvious all along. Insubordination and neglect of duty and I'm just getting started. Now if you don't let me go you'll regret it." Two guards walked in hands on their phasers. Sarah slowly let him down and walked towards them.
"Get used to it Sarah. He's here for a while. Oh and next time you pull a stunt like this it'll be much worse than an escourt to your quarters." With that he nodded and the guards escourted her out. He looked at the chief, smoothed out his uniform and puckered his lips.
"Energise." He closed his eyes and was back where he left off.

Nephi smiled. "Thank you, sir-I mean Nick," he corrected himself. He would have to get used to calling the First Officer by his first name. Commander Dixon on the Raven seemed to prefer order.
He walked back to his quarters and hastily packed his stuff. He wanted to get aboard the Vesuvius as soon as possible. Once he was packed, he sent in a request to Starbase Ops to have his stuff beamed over as soon as possible. He picked up the PADD that contained his transfer order then proceeded to the Vesuvius.
He reached the ship and looked through the viewport. The sleek majesty of the powerful ship was breath-taking. And to think that he was the Chief Engineer of such an amazing vessel.
He proceeded to the umbilical and was confronted by an Officer. "Name?"
Nephi handed him the transfer order. He looked it over and handed it back. "Very good, sir. Welcome aboard."
Nephi proceeded to Main Engineering. The room was a bustle of activity, everyone busy with repairs. He went to a panel on the wall and accessed the Crew Manifest. He noticed a certain line:
Lieutenant Commander Sarah O'Malley, Assistant Chief Engineer
A Lieutenant Junior Grade with a Lt Cmdr for an Assistant. This may prove interesting, and confrontational. A voice came up behind him. "Can I help you, Lieutenant?"
A Lt was looking at Nephi while he was checking the Manifest. "No thank you," was his reply as he continued to his new Office. The Lt followed a short distance behind him. Nephi reached the door and entered in the access code indicated on the PADD he was carrying. The door opened.
Inside was a Lt Cmdr sitting at the desk. Her feet were up on the desk, and music was playing. This must be Cmdr O'Malley, Nephi thought to himself. ""Ahem, excuse me," he said to her.
She turned off the music, but didnt sit up. "Can I help you?"
He decided to come right out and say it. "Nephi Jacobson is the name and umm yeah you're kinda in my seat."
She sat up and her eyes turned dark. "Sorry run that by me again? Your seat? Hey Carl this guy thinks this is his chair," she said, mockingly.
Nephi saw the Lt behind him come closer. "Oh really?"
Both seemed to think Nephi was joking. He was growing impatient at this display. He took the PADD, then took a few steps forward and tossed it onto the desk in front of her. "Orders from Starfleet. I'm the new CEO and you're in my chair."
She sat up and read the PADD. Her entire face seemed to darken as she furrowed her brow. Slowly she rose from the chair then indicated. "All yours SIR!" She then stormed out. Nephi stepped around the desk and leaned his hands on the desk. This was going to be interesting.
The Lt that O'Malley had refered to as Carl appeared in the doorway. "So are you really the new Chief Engineer."
Nephi looked up quickly. He couldnt judge the tone of his voice For a moment he was irritated. Then he decided not to let it affect him and softened. "Yes, Lieutenant, I am. Commodore Sonak called me herself to offer me the job. Although it appears she didnt inform Commander O'Malley. She looked enraged."
Carl stepped through the door into the Office. "Well given her lack of information its understandable. She was the Asst CEO, so when Nick got promoted to First Officer, it was an obvious choice."
"It would appear Commodore Sonak and Commander Martens had other ideas. Whats your name anyway, Lt?"
"Lt Carl Jenkins, Engineers Assistant. You must be pretty good, if Sonak wanted you. I suggest you stay that way, if you want to keep the position."
"Believe me, Carl. I intend too."
