(OOC: Our previous mission has been completed, and as such I'm throwing this up now just so people have a place to post if they're dying to before I get the next mission posted. Any of the senior bridge staff, Kevin, Ethan, Gonto, can feel free to start us off if you'd like by just posting that I order the ship brought to a nice calm area where we can run down and test each of the systems so we're sure no disrepair is waiting to bite us in the rear. If someone gets struck by massive inspiration and the shakedown itself flows into the makings of a mission that's fine by me, just keep it within the bounds of relatively sensible reason.)

"Commander Sandage reports that repairs have been completed, sir" announced Ethan.
"Good. Helm, set a course for two degrees port of Starbase Assailant. Come to a halt as we pass the Dantara system," ordered Savot.
Lt. Spiller had retired from the Bridge, and after completing his reporting on Spiller's good work, Kevin had retaken his usual seat. He was pleased to note that everything was in working order. The young scientist leaned back slightly in his chair and watched (on the small viewer his workstation contained) as class-two comet to the starboard bow was passed by the speeding spacecraft.

It was a very weary and aching Judd Sandage that reported to Sickbay, after Almost an entire day without rest or food, his uniform still bearing silent witness to his life-or-death struggle within the bowels of the USS Fury.
As he entered, the EMH looked up from some piece of medical equipment. "Have a seat on the bed, commander," he said as he picked up a medical tricorder and scanned Judd for internal injuries. "The most serious injury appears to be a fracture of the eighth rib, and severe bruising of the seventh and ninth ribs on your left side, and a mild concussion. The remainder of your injuries are superficial."
The EMH had Judd lay back on the table, and ran a protoplaser over Judd's left side. Judd could feel the odd sensation of the bone being mended. Before long, all that was left of the break was soreness, and the bruised ribs above and below. The EMH let the duty nurse take care of Judd's superficial wounds, and moved over to tend to the captain.
the nurse finished working on Judd's cuts and bruises, with a strong recommendation that he eat and get a good night's sleep, and discharged him to his quarters. Judd, weary beyond measure, slid heavily off the exam bed and started to leave sickbay, but stopped, and looked over at the life-support bed where the EMH was checking Captain Irae's vital signs. Judd walked over quietly. "She gonna be okay, doc?"
The EMH glanced at Judd. "It's too early to tell. But we are doing everything we can for her."
The EMH moved away , but Judd stood there a moment, looking at his Captain. Notmally a woman whose strong, forceful personality made her seem larger than she was, she now looked very small and helpless.
Judd gave her a pat on the hand. "Hang in there, Captain. "Yer crew's rootin' for ya." Then he swallowed hard, and headed for his quarters, a meal, and at least twelve hours of sleep.

Travor was at the helm when Savot ordered him to take them to the Dantara system. He pushed the corresponding buttons on the helm to set the course and speed. He then engaged the engines and sat back to observe the rest of the bridge crew, at least the best he could from the front most seat on the bridge.
When the ship entered the Dantara system, he informed Savot who told him to bring the ship to a stop. After he reported all stop and that they were holding position about 1 million kilometers from the star, Travor turned his seat around so that he could look at everyone's face and try to put names and voices to faces.
Even though he had yet to met the captain, he was concerned for her well being. He had read everything he could find about this ship and its crew.
"Commander, is there anything you want me to do, while we test systems?" He asked.

"Which she order something different for a change, eggs waffles hashbrowns with a glass of apple jucie an bannana.
"She of course then finish up an sure enough earl grey was place in her hand. as she sip her hot tea
"She smiled an thank the bartender her good mood was now rubbing off on others.
"She soon finish her tea an hum again an head off to the turbolift she stop huming an long enough to say <Computer Bridge> the turbolift came to stop. she continue to smile but stop huming.she head off to the tactical station she ran the rotine scans.

Savot presented a much more assuring picture when he was back on the bridge patched up and garbed in a fresh uniform. He sat in the center seat as the El Salvador parked herself in the Dantara system to begin a thorough shakedown regimen. Odds were the ship's systems were fine, but both pre-emptive caution and the emotional strain the recent mission had put on everyone called for a nice, smooth routine to ease things back down.
Commander Gonto at the helm reported their arrival in system. "Commander, is there anything you want me to do, while we test systems?" He asked.
Savot nodded slightly as he spoke, "Yes Commander. Organize a flight schedule for all shuttlecraft to be individually tested for performance. You are free to include yourself among the pilot roster should you wish, or oversee the work from your station."
The vulcan then turned to Kevin, back at his science console after his protege Lieutenant Spiller had gone off-duty. Spiller had carried himself impressively in the recent mission and Savot had been pleased to see Commander Zimmerman embrace both the responsibility and confidence of command that had seemed daunting in the past. "Commander Zimmerman, general long-range sensor sweeps of the system. We'll test the short-range arrays alongside the tactical sensors. Prepare and launch a series of target buoys for Ms. McKnight to test the weapons systems on. Correlate the target areas to be 180 degrees from each shuttle's flight area so as to avoid potential misfire accidents."
Savot then turned his chair to face the new Assistant Tactical/Security officer Lieutenant McKnight, "Ms. McKnight, upon receiving Mr. Zimmerman's clearance, test both the phasers and torpedo guidance systems with minimum power to hit Mr. Zimmerman's test targets. Report any discrepancies in weapon or sensor performance."
"Commander Hope, initiate a series of full, intra-system diagnostics. Upon completion of each review the data and report on any errors", the vulcan finished his round of instructions with Ethan at Ops, then addressed the entire bridge, "Log any large-scale discrepancies to be reported to Mr. Sandage upon his next shift. He's currently off-duty and I would prefer to have his supervision on any intricate repairs."
(Tag, anyone and everyone. If you feel the need to add some spice to any of your results, go for it, but steer clear of big things like the star we're near really being an easy-bake oven for an ancient advanced race, just for example. Will try to put up the next mission's specs within a few days.)

OOC: I hope the oven has cookies in it... and fresh cookies, not ancient ones. IC: "Aye, sir," said Kevin, responding to Savot's instructions. His hands flew across his workstation with the ease of much experience. Despite the various details, Kevin nearly caught himself drifting off in a daydream. Such experiences were common while he played scales on his trumpet. Kevin would be playing along, reading the score in front of him, and suddenly his mind would wander while he completed the exercise. He hadn't ever experienced that while on duty. The fact that he had made him both more self-confident in his abilities and slightly apprehensive at the thought of not concentrating wholly on the task at hand. Lt. McKnight looked at the science officer and said, "When ever you are, sir." "One moment, please," replied Kevin, ignorant of his immitation of so many computer programs from Earth centuries past. "All right. Buoys are away, lieutenant. You may fire when ready."

"Commander Hope, initiate a series of full, intra-system diagnostics. Upon completion of each review the data and report on any errors", the vulcan finished his round of instructions with Ethan at Ops, then addressed the entire bridge.
Ethan didn't begin his diagnostics immediately. He looked at all the systems under his supervision and decided which needed the most attention. After a few minutes of checking all his systems he decided that deflector control was in the most need and began there. He already knew that there would be problems there, but he wanted to know how extensive they were. Once the diagnostic scans were done there he would initiate a ships wide scan.
It didn't take long for the diagnostic to come in and like he had predicted deflector control was in need of extra care. During there last mission there was not much need for it and maintance was laxed. He would make sure to make a team to deal with it.
"Computer begin a Level 3 intra-system diagnostic on all ships systems, starting with the main computer," Ethan ordered," time to completetion."
"Scans will be completed 13 hours, 19 minutes, and 2 seconds."
~Well I should get some more work done while I wait for the full report~ Ethan thought as he began to assemble the repair team to the deflector control.

Judd, feeling infinitely better after a shower, a good meal, and a good night's sleep, got into a fresh uniform, only wincing slightly at a twinge from the fully knitted but still-sore ribs. Compared to his condition twelve hours ago, he was happy as a clam to just have sore ribs.
He was also in a much-improved frame of mind, as he strode onto the Bridge, in time to see the new Deputy Tac/Sec officer conducting a test-firing of the phasers.
"Sir it looks like are targeting system is not working also its a bit bumpy when firing but i manage to keep it from doing us harm or missing," she was saying.
Judd altered course away from the Engineering station and stepped up beside the young woman at the Tactical station. "Hi, Lieutenant Commander Judd Sandage, Chief Engineer. Let's see what's going on here."
Judd tapped in orders for the computer to run a diagnostic scan of the targeting system, frowned at the result, stepped quikly to the Engineering station, tapped in more commands, then back to the Tactical station. "Just what I was afraid of." He looked up at Savot. "Looks like our saboteur somehow got into the tactical systems, as well. The targeting subroutines won't boot up. It's almost like they aren't there..." he turned and stepped over to the Engineering station again, and frowned. "Yep, there's something amiss with the program itself." He tapped in more commands. "I'm gonna tie the Tactical console in with the secondary computer core. That should solve the problem until I can get into the primary core and have a look. Lieutenant, y'all can have another go with the targeting sensors."

You'd have liked it over on the Fury. Nothin' I like better than havin' a renegade Intelligence type doin' his best to cash me in." He grinned. "What've you been up to?"

"I feel bad for gettin you back from the Fury now, it was me that got that info from the guards on the surface, so dont let Gonto take all the credit" John said with some amusement in his voice.
"any ideas on how long it will take to get rid of the 'left over sabotage'?" he asked.

"Mister Savot, sir, I recommend we switch all systems over to the secondary computer core. There's no tellin' what other damage our little rodent might have done", Sandage reported following a deeper look at the tactical sensor complications.
Savot nodded, "A sensible precaution. Proceed Mr. Sandage, but examine the secondary core for discrepancies first. Improbable as it is, there could be have been damage done there as well. Commander Hope, please assist Mr. Sandage to expedite the process."
"Aye sir... Commander Savot? I'm picking up a discress call", Ethan quickly noted as the incoming hail interrupted his work before he could start. "I'm not getting any specific information though. It's just an automated report of distress from a ship's computer."
"Origin?", the vulcan asked from the center seat.
"It's coming from a nearby system, in orbit around the 1st planet. None of them read as M-class though, so I can't say what anybody would be doing there", replied Hope.
"It would seem a closer investigation is in order. Commander Gonto, plot a course for the system. ETA?", Savot began his round of instructions.
"Just over an hour at Warp 6", Gonto stated from the helm.
"Very well. Commanders Sandage and Hope, accomplish as much as you are able with the time alotted with regard to rerouting ships' systems. Commander Zimmerman, begin long range scan during our approach and prepare for short range sweeps upon our arrival in-system. Mr. Roberts, between Mr. Zimmerman's scans, perform your own from tactical to determine if any other vessels are in the system. Engage at Warp 6, Commander", Savot relayed his orders to the bridge crew, his final instruction not needing to specify Commander Gonto as he would logically be the one to carry out a navigational order.
The El Salvador came about in the black of space before bursting into warp towards their mysterious call for help...

"It appears to be a small mining vessel," reported Kevin. "Old, possibly Cardassian in origin, although it can't be in active military service anymore. Lifesigns... two. There may be a tear in the ship's hull, but I can't be sure at this distance."
"There are also three mining drones," interjected Lt. Roberts. "They aren't moving right now."
"I concur with that assessment," agreed Kevin. "It is probable the ship has experienced some sort of systems failure."
As Gonto piloted the El Salv toward the damaged ship, more data became available. "There is a tear in the hull," said Kevin, confirming his earlier hypothesis. "The ship is running on minimal power. I'd bet they don't have the capacity to recieve or transmit audio or visual messages."
"I would still be in our interest to attempt to establish communications," pointed out Savot. "Commander Hope, attempt to open hailing frequencies."
There was a moment of silence before Ethan replied. "No response, sir."
"Sir," spoke up Kevin once more, clearly puzzled, "I think the tear in the hull came from weapons fire, but it seems to have come from inside the ship."

Ethan was concern about the origin of the distress call. There was viable reason to be in that star system. It had been surveyed only five years earlier and had been deemed unimportant. So the fact that an automated distress call had been received caused him to be intrigued. "Commander Savot, switching all major systems to the secondary computer core should take at least four hours," Ethan reported as he relinquished his station. He had not worked with Commander Sandage personally before. He didn't know how well both of them would work together. <Tag Savot> "Commander Sandage do you have any preference as to which systems you want to supervise?" Ethan asked. <Tag Sandage> OOC: Commander I don't know what your talking about

"Commander Savot, switching all major systems to the secondary computer core should take at least four hours," Ethan reported as he relinquished his station.
"Very well gentlemen, proceed at your discretion reporting any potential complications immediately", the vulcan unnecessarily instructed the two officers. He trusted each to do his job well, otherwise they would not hold their positions.
"Sir," spoke up Kevin once more, clearly puzzled, "I think the tear in the hull came from weapons fire, but it seems to have come from inside the ship."
Savot turned in the Captain's chair to face the science chief, raising his eyebrow slightly at Kevin's latest report. Facing straight ahead towards the helm he spoke first to Gonto, "Mr. Gonto, proceed to maximum transporter range." Turning back towards Kevin but angling his head further to the right the vulcan continued his directives to Roberts, "Lieutenant Roberts, initiate yellow alert and raise shields. Maintain active scans for any unusual activity aboard the mining vessel."
Facing the science station once more, Savot first pressed a control on the arm of his chair engaging the ship's intercom, =^= All personnel, this is First Officer Savot. Given Captain Irae's current medical status I am temporarily assuming command of the ship. Commander Zimmerman will act as First Officer in the interum. That is all. =^=
Cutting off the intercom he then spoke to the suddenly-elevated Kevin, "Commander, have Lieutenant Spiller report to the bridge. Between the two of you, attempt to procure as much additional information as possible about the status of the vessel and the 2 lifesigns aboard. Examining the inactive mining drones may provide further insight as to what occured here, depending on the sophistication of their recording systems. We'll transport the 2 survivors aboard if possible, but in either case an away-team investigation seems prudent. I recommend Mr. Roberts accompany you for security purposes, any other personnel assignments are at your own discretion."

"Aye, aye, sir," replied Kevin promptly. He called Spiller up to the Bridge and began to analyse what data he had. There was no evidence that any other ship had in fact been present in the recent past. All three mining drones were stationary at the moment. They had not sustained any damage, at least as far as Kevin could tell. It was highly unusual for mining drones to not be engaged in a task.
Spiller arrived then and Kevin quickly explained the situation. A detailed scan of the mining drones revealed they were fully operation but required a command from the damaged ship. It was likely that the ship had lost communications. On such a small ship, long- and short-range communications were frequently run through the same physical stations so as to reduce the ammount of power and space required.
"I'm accessing the drones' visual elements now," announced Spiller. He frowned. "I don't see a recording device."
"It might be located on their ship," mused Kevin. "See if you can't connect to their ship's computer via the link they should have with the drones."
"Is that legal?" asked Spiller.
Kevin shrugged. "That could be debated. I don't think anyone will object, though. We're trying to help them, and it isn't like a mining vessel has anything to hide."
"I guess not," agreed Spiller. "This still might take me a while, especially if they don't have any communications online. I'll need to try and find a secondary tap into their computer."
"That's fine. I need to go with the away team. Inform me of your progress when I return." With that, Kevin got up and motioned for Roberts to follow him to the turbolift. He tapped his commbadge. "Ensign Whitcomb and Ensign Silva, please report to transporter room one." Kevin had decided two scientists would be plenty to assist him in the invesitgation of the vessel, and Roberts would be more than ample security on a vacant ship.
