OOC: Thread posted here with the permission of Admiral Lin.
The Victory cruised in towards the main docking hatch of the Starbase Assailant at one third impulse, her rear sections scarred by the beating she had taken as she retreated from the Kasar fleet around Jolmar. Tiberian sat on her bridge, watching the entrance portal loom into full view on the ships viewscreen. He was immensely proud of the crew's conduct over the past few days, particularly under the normally difficult circumstances of encountering a new enemy, ignoring totally the fact that this new enemy had vastly outnumbered them, and that they had had to beat a hasty retreat. He had no doubt that the Commodore would agree, and that commendations would undoubtedly be coming their way very soon. He turned around to face one of the officers at the back of the room.
"Open a channel to the base. Request permission to dock"
"Aye aye sir, message sent" the report came back from the officer, with a brief interlude of silence before she spoke again. "Permission to dock granted sir, we have instructions to proceed to internal docking arm Beta 47 and transfer over to station power"
"You heard her helm, take her in on low thrusters. You have flight discretion"
"Thank you sir" the helm officer replied, moving the ship back into position for entry. Tiberian looked at him briefly, musing on how accustomed he had become to Gheskori being at the helm over the last few months. He had deliberately relieved both him and Tiana of all their duties since their return from Jolmar, and it was his intention to keep them relieved for the entirety of shore leave. He knew both had adequate members of their departments who could handle anything, not that much was going to be flown or researched whilst they were stationary, but still, he had a gut feeling that Tiana at least would find something to worry over, and he would like to avoid it if he could.
The Victory coasted into the interior of the starbase and eventually connected with one of the outreaching docking arms that protruded from the central base spire. Further pylons and cables extended to link up with them, making small impacts on the ship as they did. On the bridge, Tiberian watched from his console as all of the pylons came into place.
"All systems to station keeping. Power down drive systems and internal power generation. Switch us over to station power"
"Drive systems have been disengaged. Fusion generators are offline. All systems are now operating at station power levels" The operations officer sang off the report in neat order.
"Confirmed sir, we are now at station keeping" the tactical officer confirmed the order, receiving a quick nod from Tiberian as confirmation of his own. He then opened the shipwide comm channel.
"Attention all hands, this is Colonel Wong. We have now arrived at Starbase Assailant. All personnel may now consider themselves on temporary shore leave. All essential personnel needed for repair work, and anyone on disciplinary duties will be notified by the respective officer. I do not have to remind you that you carry the ships reputation with you, so behave. That is all"
Tiberian closed the channel, and looked around, seeing some of the officers smirking at him for his last warning. He smiled in spite of himself and walked off to the Captain's ready room to notify her of the plans for leave whilst the rest of the bridge crew filed into the turbolifts. He chimed the door and was admitted entrance to the bomb site that was the ready room. The Commodore had more or less moved in here over the last few days, and the palce was strewn with half eaten and drunk meals, and a variety of intelligence reports and tactical assessments on the Kasar. She had been invaluable in tracking down as much of the highly restricted information about the Kasar as she could, and was dead on her feet, but she smiled as he came in and snapped to attention.
"Just letting you know ma'am" He said, reading off a padd in front of him "That we have a debrief with the fleet intelligence staff at 09:30 tomorrow, that's us and all the senior staff, then you need to arrange a conference with Starfleet Tactical, so that they can go over the latest countermeasures against silicone based lifeforms, and then you need to arrange a meeting with Admiral Lin, considering that he's one of the foremost experts on these things, and the sector commander"
"Well, I'm sure you can handle that" she said with a simple smile. Tiberian smiled back.
"Would that I could ma'am, but there's too much restricted stuff involved here abouts, Captain's only like"
"Well then, it's a good thing I received this" she offered a padd to Tiberian, which he read, and which made his jaw drop with shock. He'd been appointed the acting CO of the Victory. He dared a quick look at the Commodore.
"Commodore, are you alright? Has anything hap..."
"Nothing like that Colonel. It would appear that I'm being transferred to the Starfleet Command detatchment for this sector. It's quite an honour"
Tiberian was still in a state of shock. He'd been around for many a year by now, and the thought of Nika always being there was one of the few constants in the galaxy he always felt reasonably comfortable about. The thought of her not being on the Victory's bridge, not being in comfortable reach when he got out of his depth scared him somewhat. The thought of the buck stopping with him scared him even worse. But even so, this was a nearly unprecedented honour. Only one marine prior to this had ever been given the honour of ship command, and he wasn't going to snub this, no matter what his misgivings.
"I won't let you down, ma'am" He said, stiff with emotion, but still unable to break the habit of a lifetime in calling her ma'am.
"I know" She replied "I'll be off your ship within the next day or so. Computer, transfer all command codes and authority sequences to Lieutenant Colonel Wong, effective immediately" The computer chirped, indicating an affirmative response. "Good luck, Captain" they shook hands, and Tiberian departed the office, more in a state of shock than anything else.

The Victory had arrived at Assailant, her glorious hull lighting up the docking port she was moored to at the Starbase with its brilliant sheen. Even the pounding the stern of the ship had taken from the Kasar fleet had not dimmed its magnificence.
On the bridge, Gheskori completed mooring procedures, locking the ship into hard-dock with the receiving mechanism and the rig of the personnel vestibule. He shut himself out of the console, putting it into sleep mode and rotated happily in his chair. The ordeal in the Jolmaran system was finally over, it could be swept under the carpet, not thought of again until he wanted to remind himself of it. It would make a fine story that was for sure. The Denobulan laughed at that thought; the idea of him relating his grand adventure on Jolmar Prime to his wives and children filled him with a certain satisfaction and a measure of joy.
At the sight of his unprovoked laughter, the bridge crew gave Gheskori bemused glances but, like him, they were distracted by the beginning of shore leave. Taking in their confused looks with mischievous glee, Ghes simply shrugged and turned away, grinning broadly.
Commander Matthew left his seat at exactly the same time as Gheskori left his one, just adjacent to the Ops officer's. "Commander," Ghes said to him, taking him aside, "My earlier invitation to the bridge crew for a drink has not been withdrawn. I understand, or at least I have been led to believe, that you are not adverse to the consumption of one exotic beverage in particular. Kali-fal? That delightful beverage tinted the colour of azure that I have been told so 'warms the cockles of one's heart,' otherwise known as Romulan Ale?"
<Tag Cmdr. Matthew>
Just as Gheskori said the words 'Romulan Ale', Colonel Wong stepped out from the Commodore's ready room, a confused but in Ghes's opinion purposeful look on his face. Had he heard the Denobulan's words or was something else afoot? Ghes cracked with laughter.. Or was it both?

It was the worst of days, it was the worst of days. Not much more could be said of it. Methos had finished his secret mission into the Delta Quadrant with minimal casualties. A few of his men, himself included, had been wounded, and only two had been killed. He regretted having to inform the family members of those two.
After returning from that dreadful task, Starfleet informed him that he was going to deploy once again. He still did not know where to just yet. He was currently on Earth, enjoying a brief respite at a beach in Sunny Southern California, when two uniformed Starfleet security officers made their way directly toward him. He glanced over at them the moment they stepped onto the beach. His mechanical eye quickly scanned them for anything really, because to tell you the truth, Methos was starting to get the itch to be doing something.
When they finally covered the distance to where Methos was, the senior of the two said, “Lt. Col. Methos?”
Methos looked at him, “You know who I am, what can I do for you?”
The security officer handed him a PADD and turned to leave. “What? No goodbye?” Methos asked with a grin. The security officers just kept walking. Methos looked at what the PADD said.
***Lt. Col. Methos, you are hereby reassigned to the USS Victory-C, Section 47 and promoted to Lt. Col. First Class. The Shuttle Aristaios will be made to transport you and your things to Star Base Assailant in two days time. Good luck and God Speed.***
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A few days later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Methos was sitting at the helm and watching the ‘world pass through the windshield’. The computer just notified him that he was approaching Assailant. He opened a channel and said, “Star base Assailant, this is Shuttle Aristaios requesting permission to dock.”
=/\=Permission granted Aristaios=/\=
After the shuttle dock, Methos had his personal gear transferred to the Victory and left the shuttle bay. He made his way to the attendant and asked where the Victory was. The attendant had an Ensign show the way. Methos thanked him and followed.
Once they arrived at the Victory, Methos thanked the nameless ensign and boarded the ship. It was clear that the ship had just returned from a mission somewhere. Methos asked the computer who the Captain was and where to find him. The computer told him and Methos smiled.
Making his way onto the bridge, Methos saw that most of the command crew were still at their stations. And most of them appeared to looking at the Helmsman. As the lift doors closed they all turned and looked to him. Methos made his way to Wong and said, “Lt. Col. First Class Methos reporting as ordered,” and handed over the PADD containing his orders.
Glad to be away for matters of diplomacy and the ragged tatters that the current talks were likely to be in after news of the Klingon attack on Aenovolis got out Magellan arrived at the Victorys docking berth.
He took a moment to reflect on how simple life had seemed when he had been just the Captain of the Victory. Now there was yet another CO in the big chair.
"Afternoon" he greeted the guard at the airlock, "I m here to see the Colonel"
"Very good Sir. Do you require an escort?"
"No its okay I know the way." Magellan smiled.
He arrived after only a short diversion past his old quarters on the bridge where Matthews, Wong and Gheskori were present.
"Congratulations Colonel. I hope the Commodore conveyed the details of your promotion to you."
TAG Wong
"Well Well done anyways. And I know I asked you to report as soon as you returned but all hells about to break loose on the station and so I thought I may hide out here for awhile. In fact the details of your briefing on the Kasan-thar may be the salvation I need."
TAG Wong.
Magellan looked at the officers who shifted uneasily, he had seen that look before. They were itching to start shoreleave.
"I dont think I need to see all the senior staff. I believe there is a table reserved for you all at the FishTank Officers Club. First round is on me gentlemen."
“Cmdr Matthew sat at the OPS station as the Victory was finally given clearance to dock at SB Assailant . He shuddered slightly when looking at all the ships that surrounded the large station. The sudden appearance of the Starfleet Admiral, whom Gheskori understood to be a former Captain of the Victory, took the Denobulan by surprise; but it was a welcome one.
"I dont think I need to see all the senior staff," Admiral Lin said to the bridge officers, "I believe there is a table reserved for you all at the FishTank Officers Club. First round is on me gentlemen." With that he left the bridge to take care of whatever matters he was to take care of.
Now Ghes nodded understandingly at Commander Matthew, and smiled as the Ops officer left the bridge to take care of business. Of course, duty came first, but Ghes was looking forward to seeing Matthew, as well as all the senior staff assembled in the Officers' Club on the 'base.
The Denobulan was sure that the first officer's face still carried an ashen complexion, as it had when he had emerged from the Commodore's ready room a minute or two ago. He and the Colonel were two of only five crew still on the bridge now, most had departed.. shoreleave awaited. "Are you perfectly alright, sir?" Ghes asked as he began to walk past Wong on his way to the turbolift.
The Colonel told of him his promotion to the position of Commanding officer and Cir'Kem's reassignment, albeit briefly but in enough detail to give Ghes the appropriate information. "My congratulations," Gheskori nodded politely, "More reason to celebrate shore leave." He laughed as he entered the turbolift.
Minutes later he left the personnel vestibule, walking behind a couple other members of the crew who happened to be disembarking at the same time. The three of them, apart from each other, entered into a giant concourse of people, all heading out of the docking bay area and towards the central, core decks, the promenade and the place with all the shops. Ghes raised an eyebrow as he realised he was virtually shoulder to shoulder with people amongst the hustle and bustle of eager officers awaiting the wonders of the 'Base. It was busy.. All the ships docked on the outer moorings were not just for show, he realised.
After doing some looking around the populated areas.. a little too much looking around in fact, he'd been too inquisitive, Ghes headed for the FishTank. An interesting name, he thought. The establishment probably had a sizeable aquatic centrepiece, or something similar to such.
He entered, quickly finding the table after looking at the sizeable aquatic centrepiece. Several officers were already at the fairly large table that was squared away in a corner, to the left and towards the back of the FishTank club. "Greetings," Gheskori said to them with a grin, as he took a seat. "Commander Matthew, good to see you," he said. It was then that Colonel Wong and Admiral Lin entered, they were in quiet conversation about something important, but put it aside as they approached the table and took time to return the immediate greetings from some of the officers. Colonel Wong had his marine Sergeant Major with him. After a few murmurs as well as a grumble, the Admiral headed to a bar, presumbably Ghes thought, to fetch drinks.
The conversation slowly picked up, of which Ghes played a part; he observed with interest how his enthusiasm seemed infectious, and his mind buzzed with interest at how the crew treated him.
Tiana had finished up a pile of admin work just as the Victory came into dock at Starbase Assailant. She was just about to head back to her quarters when she realised that she had left a PADD with the details of her latest experimental work on on the science station.
She reached the bridge just in time to hear a Trill Admiral that she recognised as Admiral Lin, announce
"I dont think I need to see all the senior staff. I believe there is a table reserved for you all at the FishTank Officers Club. First round is on me gentlemen."
to a gathering consisting of Colonel Wong, Commander Matthews and Commander Gheskori. She hurried to the science station collecting the PADD and passing pretty much unnoticed by the other officers. She hurried to her quarters brushing her hair out it was still a novelty to have it back but the surgery had gone well and she was back to her normal spotted appearance. There had been times when she had thought she would never see her own face in the mirror again. She let her hair hang much nearer to loose that she did on duty. It spilled past her waist. She also loaded a map of Assailant on to her PADD and then disembarked heading for the Fishbow to meet up with the others.
In a general sense Tiana was tired and stressed, their last mission had gotten to her more than she liked to admit, she hoped their would be a chance to do something about it... In the meantime a drink and the chance to watch the galaxy go by sounded like a good chance to start to unwind.
She saw some of the Victory staff at a table and made her way to the bar, she ordered an apple juice (not daring for the moment to drink even synthahol after last time..) and found herself elbow to elbow with Admiral Lin, more to the point she managed to keep a hold of her drink in the bustle of the club and avoid spilling it over either of them.
She found herself somewhat tongued tied. "Ummm, Hi, I'm Tiana Galwyn, the Victory's Chief Science Officer. It's the first time I've had a proper chance to look round Assailant, is it always this busy?"
She cursed herself silently believing that she had just made herself look like a babbling fool.
“Lt. Col. First Class Methos reporting as ordered,”
Tiberian was snapped out of his reverie by the appearance of another marine officer on the bridge, an officer who technically outranked him. He made a half movement towards a salute, suddenly unsure of whether or not he should salute any more. Seniority really was a pain in the proverbial, so he extended his hand instead, shaking hands politely and taking the padd of orders from the new marine.
"Well, Colonel Methos" he responded "It would appear that Command are more efficient than they act half of the time. You've been assigned to take on the now vacant XO position, effective immediately. You have an exceptional record, both as an academy instructor and on the Tigershark" He smiled for a moment, reflecting on his own time as a green marine cadet on the Hepta, and also his distinct lack of an exceptional record. He also noted the artificial right eye of the officer, and thought wistfully of the circumstances of the loss of his own left eye, a few short years before. "I'm happy to have you onboard nonetheless, though I am wondering if there's ever been an all marine command team before. On the up side, my girlfriend will be grateful that someone else can take the suicide missions when they crop up"
He winked at the Colonel, who seemed to take it all in good jest.
"Nonetheless, welcome. I'll be meeting with Admiral Lin shortly to debrief him concerning our previous mission. Following that I have a number of tactical briefings, and then I reckon we should meet for some dinner, and I can go over the ship protocols with you. In the meantime, why don't you head on leave with the rest of the senior officers, get to know people, get drunk, it's always worked for me"
<TAG Methos>
"Congratulations Colonel. I hope the Commodore conveyed the details of your promotion to you."
Tiberian's conversation with Methos was cut short by the appearance of a Trill Admiral that Tiberian knew to be Lin on the bridge.
"Bridge, flag officer on deck, atten-shun!" The words bawled out of his mouth so reflexively he didn't have to think as his feet moved together. Unfortunately, everyone else wasn't so prepared, and at least three crewmembers swore as they caught knees on their movement to stand. "Thank you Admiral sir, I hope to do the service proud"
"Well Well done anyways. And I know I asked you to report as soon as you returned but all hells about to break loose on the station and so I thought I may hide out here for awhile. In fact the details of your briefing on the Kasan-thar may be the salvation I need."
"I'll be glad to debrief you sir, but the matter is quie intricate, so it may make some time. I can have the senior staff here assist in collating the data"
"I dont think I need to see all the senior staff. I believe there is a table reserved for you all at the FishTank Officers Club. First round is on me gentlemen."
"Well I've never been one to pass up a drink" Tiberian smiled heartily "You guys go on ahead, that's my first official order as your new CO, Admiral, would you care to walk with me"
<TAG ALL>
The groups split, and Tiberian and Lin found themselves strolling through he corridors of the Victory, taking a massively circumvented route to the airlock. All around them the crew from all the varying ship departments were wandering around, heading off on leave, some carrying bags, some even out of uniform and wearing ridiculously entertaining civilian clothing. Contrary to all the high tech security measures aboard a starship in the modern era, Tiberian was certain that there were few things quite so secure for a private conversation as wandering in the middle of a large crowd on a packed space station.
"Things are going to hell in a handbasket out there" He confided to Lin as they walked together in the middle of the jostling throng. "You'll get specific details in my full written report, but I can confirm that the Kasan-Thar are here, and they are here in force. They have a battle ready fleet assembled in the Jolmar system, more than capable of dealing anything short of a full battlegroup, and they're entrenching their positions. The Paderau on Jolmar Prime have powerful anti-orbital weapons, and orbital batteries, and from the reports of my officers, they seem to think that the Kasar are the best thing since sliced bread" He paused as they squeezed out onto the promenade and continued walking. "From what I gathered, they were using Tholian vessels to try and provoke us into a conflict with them, when that failed, they resolved back to brute force. My biggest worry however is that now they're aware of our destruction of the crystalline entity, they may be coming to get even. Whatever it is though, we need to get the Colonial negotiations back on an even keel, because if we can't present a united front, then we may be looking at the biggest threat since we discovered the Borg"
Russell looked around his new office, he had not expected to have been re-assigned when he had tried to return to active duty but he had left with little warning and undoubtedly Nika had replaced him by now, but he was not complaining as he looked around his office on the Arika Class ship. Russell looked out the window and saw the familiar effect of shutting stars that occurred while a ship was at warp, the Science vessel USS Paris was an old ship now and Russell knew that he would most likely be this ships last captain. Russell felt odd thinking of himself as the commanding officer, he thought he had gotten a good idea of how it would feel while he was an XO but nothing had prepared him for actually taking command. As he looked down at the Padd with their mission details he heard a chime from the door “Enter” was all Russell said as he continued to re-read the details for the tenth time, before Russell was a woman of great beauty, or would have been great beauty had she not had a small device attached to her left cheek, Maria Flaris stood calmly with the gained composure from being a former borg drone. Russell looked at his new found XO with curiosity, he had looked though her profile as he had done for most of the Paris’ crew but he had not cared that she was a former Borg like the former CO and XO had and was fast to pick her as to be his XO. “Take a seat commander” Russell indicated the three seats that were on the opposite side of his desk from him and was not too surprised by her response “Thank you Captain but i would prefer to stand, we are nearing the anomaly, long range sensors are saying that the entire area around the rift is being severely disrupted, particularly the sub-space layer.” Russell looked at the former Science officer before he responded “We will have to drop out of warp, i will be on the bridge momentarily Commander.” Maria simply nodded before leaving.
Russell entered the bridge to find that they had dropped out of warp and were now approaching the anomaly itself, moving to the centre chair Russell was use to the looks he got from the Chief of Operations, the man was almost triple Russell’s age and had yet been passed up for promotion for all of Russell’s life and a bit more on top. “Tactical, how are the shields holding?” the officer on the tactical station almost jumped, there was not a Chief for that department for some time and command was taking its time to find a replacement. “Shields are holding sir, but we could not shot a planet at the moment, the targeting sensors are going haywire” Russell smiled “I do not think we are likely to be attacked here, the nearest border is almost 40 light years from here and i believe the Romulan’s are too busy to bother us.” Russell watched as the view screen finally showed the rift, it was small to his eye and it seemed to be twisting “Helm, hold position here, Science i want you to scan that thing with everything we have got, if you believe it safe to do so we shall approach closer to get any more detailed scans you may need” Russell heard both officer confirm the order but it was the helm officer who spoke again “Sir, i just brought us to a stop ... change that we are moving forward again” Russell turned his full attention on the helm officer “Speak to me Lieutenant, what is happening?” Maria had left her seat and had gone round to the science station. “I do not understand it sir, we are picking up speed, we are almost at full impulse trying to move away and we are still moving towards the anomaly instead of away” Russell did not have a chance to respond before he heard Maria speak up “Captain, the anomaly is acting like a black hole now, it is drawing everything near it towards it” Russell stood up “Red alert, Helm get engineering on the comm. and get everything you can out of the engines, we must stay away from it as long as we can, Science and Tactical, try and find a way to collapse the anomaly or destroy it, before we are dragged into it” Russell returned to his seat as he watched the officers work.
Several minutes passed and as they continued to drift closer and closer, nothing they had done seemed to have worked. Russell was frustrated, and it was obvious that everyone else on the bridge was as well Russell was about to call engineering when a comm. channel opened =/\=Bridge this is Engineering, we have the engines going at 140 percent, if we hold them at this for much longer they are either going to explode or die out=/\= Russell slammed his fist on his chair “Acknowledged Engineering, try your best to hold that off as long as you can” Russell closed the channel and turned to his XO who had returned to her chair. In a low whisper he spoke to Maria “Is there any way to get the crew off the ship? Is there some way of making some sort of tunnel of clear space for shuttles and pods to escape?” Maria shook her head, “Shuttles may be able to get away if they are lucky but there is no guarantees” Russell nodded and then opened a channel to the entire ship “All crew this is the captain, the ship is presently being drawn in towards the anomaly, at this time i am ordering everyone to abandon ship, everyone head down to the shuttle bay” cutting the comm. he turned to the bridge officers, “I want you all down there now, you should set a course away from the anomaly and do not turn back for anything” Most of the officers present simply nodded but Russell was not surprised when Maria argued “No sir, you will not be trying anything heroic with this ship, now without me” Russell knew he would not win, and he was aware of the regulation that gave her the right to shot him to make sure he left the ship. “Fine commander, everyone else get off this ship before i have to kick you off”.
Russell watched as his crew left the shuttle bay, ‘what a good first mission in charge, i am about to blow myself and my ship up’ “Commander, set a course for the anomaly, let’s see if flying this ship right into it gives it some intergection” Maria had already put the course in when she responded “Russell, there is nothing to say this will work, but i feel it will at least give the shuttles a chance to escape, though last i checked spacial anomalies do not get intergestion” Russell laughed “If we live though this i am going to have to teach you what a joke is” Russell watched the screen as the anomaly grew closer. ‘i am sorry Tiana that i did not tell you, i love you’.
---Present time---
Russell woke suddenly, the same dream he had been having for the last 12 years, the event that left him and Maria stuck in the past, the event that for those here in the real present only happened 3 months ago. According to star fleet command his crew had indeed escaped and the anomaly had been destroyed, but only 2 days later a shuttle appeared at the site with Russell aboard, Russell had found a temporal rift while he was serving on the USS Excalibur under Captain Alyana Ryat, the luck that he had only really missed 2 days out annoyed him. Russell moved to the computer and checked his orders, he was to report to a Colonel Wong on the victory and he was to take over as Chief Medical officer. Russell quickly got dressed and began making his way to the victory, he was surprised that he had been re-assigned there, but he was not surprised he was not assigned an XO or CO position as while he had only been missing 2 days, star fleet records told them he had been working as a medic for 10 years in the past and felt he was not ready to take a new command position. Arriving on the victory, Russell quickly found he way around the ship and soon found himself on the waiting in front of the captain’s ready room, ‘or colonel’s ready room as it is now’ Russell was annoyed when a young ensign from the base informed him that the colonel had left for the base ‘typical, the moment i actually get to a place on time they are not here’. Russell knew exactly where the fish tank was as he had memorised SBA’s layout on the shuttle ride over and was very quick in finding his way to the bar. Looking around at those present it did not take Russell long to notice the Admiral and Colonel to one side talking, Russell moved carefully around to the pair and was quick to throw his transfer orders at the colonel “Colonel, Commander Russell Davis reporting for duty, i have been assigned as your new Chief Medical officer.” <Tag Wong>
“Thank you sir, but i know my way around the Victory, i have served on her before” Russell turned and left the pair without waiting for the normal dismissal but to his knowledge they were both of duty so he did not need to wait, he wanted to find Tiana and to see if she would be able to get around the fact that he had aged 13 years in 8 months. Moving though the bar Russell looked without much success to find Tiana, Russell was almost about to give up and ask the computer for help when he finally spotted her with the admiral ‘you have got to be kidding me, if i had stayed she would have come to me’ shaking off the thought Russell moved carefully toward Tiana. Russell was behind Tiana when he spoke “Tiana” Tiana looked around with either a confused look or an excited look, Russell could not tell.
Gheskori took a moment to observe the steadily increasing hubbub of activity around the FishTank, activity which, was most clear around the Victory officers' table. More of the senior staff had arrived, including Tiana Galwyn, of which Ghes was glad. He had been marginally worried that, given their time on the surface of Jolmar Prime, she had been affected more than just cosmetically by the ordeal.
Ghes's eyes lit up as a couple of officers arrived back with a very large round of drinks. The two uniformed officers were almost like waiters, with their large trays they held in their hands - albeit unprofessionally unlike a waiter - being cradled carefully, until they set them down on the table.
The trays contained all manner of bizarre concoctions as well as some more 'standard' choices, for the some might say sensible ones; Ghes would say they were the less ambitious and slightly dreary ones but it would not do to be judgmental. There was a distinct lack of blue liquor amongst the glasses on the rapidly emptying trays, but Ghes supposed that they could not very well serve Romulan Ale, due to its illegal status. He shrugged a little dejectedly at Commander Matthew.
As he did so, he heard an unfamiliar voice with an unfamiliar name address Colonel Wong. He turned to the side to see a uniformed blue-collar officer, who went by the name of Russell Davis. Gheskori tilted his head in thought; the name sounded familiar somehow, he just could not quite place it.. which disappointed but did not surprise him. Since his arrival on the Victory he had accumulated a vast wealth of information regarding its operating systems, its science labs in particular, and especially the current personnel roster as well as the ship's history.
The blue collar officer Davis finished his greetings with Wong and Galwyn, whom he evidently knew well, and took a seat next to the science officer at the table. Ghes tried to place his age by simple observation, he guessed he was perhaps approaching middle age, never liking to pin an exact number of years to their chronological history.
"Commander Russell Davis," Ghes grinned and nodded his head across the table at him, noticing how the new officer was momentarily surprised at Ghes's knowledge of his name. "I would offer my hand in customary human greeting, Commander, but the Denobulan race refrains from physical touch with those whom are not intimate. Welcome to the crew, I am personally glad you have seen to attend this gathering..." Ghes sighed and looked around, "I do wish my wives were here to share in the occasion, I can say with certainty that they would relish an event such as this."
"Tiana"
The single word some how managed to cut through the hubbub of the Fish Tank. Tiana had imagined hearing the voice again and as her head whipped round to see the source she half believed that she was imagining things again.
It was Russ. Tiana's look of slight puzzlement changed into a big grin. He was back in uniform so he was back. Tiana started towards Russ as he walked towards her through the crowd. At a distance Tiana had thought that Russell looked tired or maybe worn by grief. She had no idea what had happened to his mother and it was a multi day trip from Earth so either or both were possible. When he was closer she saw that the wear on his face ran deeper than mere tiredness would explain. It looked like he had aged a decade in the short time he had been gone. While it was an intriguing puzzle and it went against her nature not to immediately investigate puzzles there was something more important to do. She pulled Russ into a hug.
"You could have told me you were back. I missed you." Tiana kept her voice down the words were for Russ's ears only.
Tag: Russ.
She was pleased to see him back but beyond that she wasn't yet sure. He had left her once without even saying goodbye and while she could understand his need to get home, it still hurt. Something had happened to him while he had been gone, she was sure of that.
"Well, Colonel Methos" he responded "It would appear that Command are more efficient than they act half of the time. You've been assigned to take on the now vacant XO position, effective immediately. You have an exceptional record, both as an academy instructor and on the Tigershark" He smiled for a moment, reflecting on his own time as a green marine cadet on the Hepta, and also his distinct lack of an exceptional record. He also noted the artificial right eye of the officer, and thought wistfully of the circumstances of the loss of his own left eye, a few short years before. "I'm happy to have you onboard nonetheless, though I am wondering if there's ever been an all marine command team before. On the up side, my girlfriend will be grateful that someone else can take the suicide missions when they crop up"
Methos Saw Tiberian wink, and nodded knowingly.
"Nonetheless, welcome. I'll be meeting with Admiral Lin shortly to debrief him concerning our previous mission. Following that I have a number of tactical briefings, and then I reckon we should meet for some dinner, and I can go over the ship protocols with you. In the meantime, why don't you head on leave with the rest of the senior officers, get to know people, get drunk, it's always worked for me"
[/color]"Aye, aye sir," Methos said with a nod.
"Congratulations Colonel. I hope the Commodore conveyed the details of your promotion to you."
Tiberian's conversation with Methos was cut short by the appearance of a Trill Admiral that Tiberian knew to be Lin on the bridge.
"Bridge, flag officer on deck, atten-shun!" The words bawled out of his mouth so reflexively he didn't have to think as his feet moved together. Unfortunately, everyone else wasn't so prepared, and at least three crewmembers swore as they caught knees on their movement to stand. "Thank you Admiral sir, I hope to do the service proud"
"Well Well done anyways. And I know I asked you to report as soon as you returned but all hells about to break loose on the station and so I thought I may hide out here for awhile. In fact the details of your briefing on the Kasan-thar may be the salvation I need."
"I'll be glad to debrief you sir, but the matter is quie intricate, so it may make some time. I can have the senior staff here assist in collating the data"
"I dont think I need to see all the senior staff. I believe there is a table reserved for you all at the FishTank Officers Club. First round is on me gentlemen."
"Well I've never been one to pass up a drink" Tiberian smiled heartily "You guys go on ahead, that's my first official order as your new CO, Admiral, would you care to walk with me"
As the rest of the senior staff headed to the lift that would transfer them to the bowels of the ship, Methos made his way to his office. There, he deposited his personal effects and arranged for the rest of his stuff to be delivered to his quarters. He would take care of the arranging of his stuff at a later time.
He left the office, taking with him a PADD that had the senior officers' info on it. Glancing at it on the way to the FishTank, he quickly got some of the basics on each of them. Arriving at the bar, he walked up to the counter and asked where he might find his fellow officers. The bartender pointed to a table towards the back, which the hubbub of the place had yet to reach.
Walking back, he slowed as he neared the table, which already had two trays of drinks on it, some of which Methos wouldn't give to a Klingon. He noticed that there was an aire of commradery amoungst them, something he enjoyed with the Marines that had once been under his command.
Putting the PADD under his arm, he approached and was greeted by the crew.
"You could have told me you were back. I missed you." Tiana kept her voice down the words were for Russ's ears only. “I know, i am sorry, first intelligence did not want to let go of me, then those suits from the time whatever. Well i am back now and i do not have any plans to move away again anytime soon” Russell moved with Tiana to join the rest of the crew at the table, it did not take long before one of the other officers spoke to Russell "Commander Russell Davis," Ghes grinned and nodded his head across the table at him, noticing how the new officer was momentarily surprised at Ghes's knowledge of his name. "I would offer my hand in customary human greeting, Commander, but the Denobulan race refrains from physical touch with those whom are not intimate. Welcome to the crew, I am personally glad you have seen to attend this gathering..." Ghes sighed and looked around, "I do wish my wives were here to share in the occasion, I can say with certainty that they would relish an event such as this." Russell smiled, “Even if they were here, i doubt they would enjoy the drink, is it just me or has the drink here been getting steadily worse?” Russell did not seem to have to wait long before someone fell over, “I would suggest not drinking that until i check this guy out” Russell moved to the fallen officer, checking him over with the tri-corder he had forgotten to remove from his uniform when he arrived he was quickly pleased to find that the officer had collapsed because of him being drunk. “Well it was the drink but not what we were drinking, this lad has been drinking Romulan Ale unless the scanner is playing up. Sorry Tiana but i am going to have to take this sorry excuse for an officer off until he is better so i can throw him at the base’s security chief.”
Russell was pleased to get the officer out of his sickbay the following morning, he did not like drunks and Romulan ale was a nightmare to clear out of a person’s system. How the officer had gotten his hands on the drink was not his problem, but the problem of the base’s chief of security though Russell guessed the Romulan embassy must have given him some. Russell looked around sickbay and was glad that most of the new supplied were now delivered but it did mean that his staff were all back on duty today trying to get the lot inventoried and stocked away. “Nurse Lai, how is the inventory going?” the female burse looked around, as the senior nurse on the ship gave her some authority while in sickbay and the look she gave the new Chief Medical officer told him that she would happily give him a telling off if she felt like it “It is going well sir, we should be done in an hour, maybe two” Russell nodded and then responded “Thank you, when you are done i want you back on shore leave, we do not know when we shall be shipping out but i want you all in tip top condition before we do”. No sooner had he said this that an announcement came over the ships comm. system =/\=Attention all crew of the USS Victory, your shore leave has been cancelled and all crew are to return to the ship, I repeat, all crew of the USS Victory are to return to duty effective immediately, Assailant Ops out =/\= Russell shock his head, “Well that was the plan anyway, right get this sorted out then i want the senior medical staff in my office, we might as well have a meeting before the Colonel calls the senior staff together” Russell turned back without waiting for the response from the nurse, entering his office he began looking though the list of medical staff, he had 7 doctors and 5 nurses, but only 2 of the doctors and nurse Lai would be coming to his meeting as the senior medical staff.
{OOC: right i am up to the point of the mission start, if Wong posts before i go on LOA i will try to post before i do go otherwise i give Tiana permission to post me to places till i get back}
Since the ship was docked, star base engineering crews would be assessing battle damage and do final repairs, the ones that needed spare parts the ship didn't carry or couldn't replicate. Which meant I could sleep in.
Or so he thought. At 0715 hours, his intercom rang. It kept ringing, until a weak "Mmmmhuh?" was heard from under his blanket.
“This is Ensign Thevis,” came the Andorian's stern voice Cmdr Matthew, report to Docking Hatch # 3 “
