He was feeling pretty useless right now, he wasn't a pilot he had the basic training but ever office on board pretty much could fly a shuttle from point A to point B. He wasn't an engineer so there was little he could do there. He wondered if all commanding officer go this feeling when the ship was busy and there was nothing they could do. In some ways he was happy he had a crew that could handle it all. Still it didn't help the feeling he was having right now, he could check on his crew but didn't want to interfer or give the wrong impression.
He looked over the reports again and again to see if there was anything missing. He came up with a blank then it hit him. It wasn't what was missing but what was in the report that got his attention. How did they know he died in the crash where was the pyhiscal proof that he was on board when it happened. Somebody stated he was on board but there was no proof to support this fact. How could they know he was on board when everything shut down before the crash.
He kept the thought to himself and waited until the breifing, he wanted to see if his crew would discover anything that might back this up. He was also interested in what they found and wanted to hear there idea's. It was getting close to the time of the meeting so he got up and headed to the briefing room. Stopping along the way to say hello to who ever he ran into.
He wanted to make sure people knew that he cared, he didn't to present the image of being above them or out of touch with them. He remember some advice he was given while everybody put the captain saftey first. He could see the problem the commanding officer put the saftey of his crew and ship first. It was going to be intersting to see what the futur held for the ship. His only hope right now was they would uncover something about the crash and bring the Park Family some peace.

Jon walked out of the Ready Room and headed to his officer on deck 2. he contacted a member of the port crew from his desk. " Lt. Polaris this is Commander Jon Park of the Federation starship Nevada. I need to see the scan of all ships that have entered or docked on Earth in the past week."
Lt.Polaris looked across space and said to Jon. "Sir all that has arrived in the last week was 4 starships, 3 medical transports and 4 private ships." Jon was thinking, "Send me the data for the private ships and where they went."
Polaris nodded and cut the transmission. Jon waited and as he waited he read a few reports. The Lieutenant was fast, Jon saw a flash on his terminal and he hit the button to receive the manifest.
Park started to review the ships that came in, he looked at the first ship and they were normal Vulcan's looking to receive a shipment of computer consoles,medical supplies and to drop off some cadets that were coming from Vulcan to the academy. Jon looked at the second ship nothing odd there. The third ship at first looked normal but Jon read it so fast he missed the human that was on it with others that were allies but not members of the Federation.
Jon found that a little odd, He went back into his fathers personal logs about the upcoming test flight and found that he had some issues with then test pilot Lt.Rick Collins. He had been sure he was going to run the final Test on NX-124 as they had been both up for the final flight. Jon had won due to a final written test. Collins was mad to say the least and told his rival he would pay for winning.
Jon walked out of his office he knew Parker was working on the holodeck recreating the final flight. Jon didn't know if he wanted to see his fathers final flight but he went to the Holodeck and entered to see a huge space enviorment. Jon walked across the expanse and smiled at the two officers, "Lt.Parker and Helacaan report."
<Tag Parker and Seth>
Park listened and nodded said "ok lets run it again." Jon called out "Computer reset simulation to time index zero." the computer responded and they were once again in the control center of the ship. Park moved out of the two officers way, it would be hard Backus it was a so small a space.
Park watched as they went about setting the tragedy in place. Park knew nothing he did would stop it but it was hard to watch it happen. Park watched as the ship did what it did, Park saw many flashing lights and then it happened the ship exploded again. Park looked at the two officers and said "Well we know what happened with my fathers ship, computer reset to time index 157. The ship flashed and they were in the command center again, Lieutenant's look at this. Jon was pointing to a star chart for the Emergency pod. "This would take my father to the Taris system, If my memory serves me that area was in control of the Orion pirates back then. We should tell the Colonel at the meeting."
Park stood "Computer end program." The computer beeped and the hologrid showed once more. "I will see you all at the meeting. Dismissed." Park walked out and headed to the turbolift. Sitting in his office he prepared his outline for the meeting when his door chimed. "Come in." The door opened and he saw his mother standing there. "Mom come in please." his mother came in and sat down looking around and smiled. "You have done very well for yourself since you left the Academy." Jon smiled at his mom, "Mom i am glad your happy but your also close to retirement." Park knew what was going on, His mother wanted answers before she left the service of starfleet.
"Mom if you want i would like you to attend the meeting i would love for you to be there. I think you may find a few things that we didn't think of since your career path was the science path before you went to command." Jon's mother smiled and said "I would be honored shall we." Jon looked at the time index on his console, "Wow it is the late already, Let us go." Jon and his mother left his office and headed to the turbolift. "Observation lounge." The lift beeped and headed up.
As Jon walked in to the lounge he saw only the Colonel. "Sir i have requested my mother attend this meeting she was on the Science track before going to command and in a lack of a CSO i think she would help."

He was rubbing the new rank signa on his collar when his first officer walked in. It was still taking some getting use to but he was trying to settle in to his new role. " By all means Mr. Park you mother may join us. As long as she understands that what ever we have found will not be reported just yet. Somebody has been pulling the strings out of our hands everytime we find something. I have no desire to have anything else pulled and worse yet to be ordered off. After we have our answers star fleet will get there report and hopefully the people responsable for this cover up as well"
He paused for a moment the rest of the crew hadn't quite showed up yet " Mr. Park hows the crew handling the Command change. They still seem a little quite around me and keeping there distantce. I was hoping you might have some insight since you have served with them for so long"<Tag park>

Jon understood what his commanding officer was saying. "I feel your right, I have come across something i found interesting as well." Park slid the Padd he had in his hand with the data about the human on a private ship that was on earth the same time as when his mother reported seeing her husband. "Sir that ship was seen landing on earth and the scan showed a human with non Federation members but they are allies of the Federation."
"Mr. Park hows the crew handling the Command change. They still seem a little quite around me and keeping there distance. I was hoping you might have some insight since you have served with them for so long"
Jon thought about that for a sec, "Well Sir..." Jon started as he slid into his customary seat at the briefing table. "The crew is not having a problem with the command change or you Sir. We have just had many changes in command in the past few months and they are hesitant to open up. I know things will change soon, That and this mission is hitting many emotions for a lot of crew. As you said i have been on the ship a long time, So a lot of the crew have gotten to know me. Many of them are just focused on helping me and my mother."
<Tag Runningwolf>
Jon knew the Briefing was about to start and he waited, Soon Lt.Parker and Lt.Helacaan walked into the briefing room. Jon looked and Wolf as he opened the meeting, Wolf brought up a few things then motioned to Jon. Jon stood and hit the table top Padd, his father's ship showed on one screen and the simulation that Jaden and Seth ran a little while ago.
"As you can see the reason why Lt.Commander Park's ship failed was due to a contaminant field around the Tritium power cell. Why the ship was using a Tritium power cell is not know. It not in my fathers logs or in the mission briefings. Ship contraction logs have been made unavailable to the Nevada so i will just have to guess the Federation was trying to use it as a power source."
Jon looked at all the officers and continued "Commander Park has been kind enough to allow me to read some of my Fathers letters he sent her and i have found that Him and Lt.Rick Collins were up for the final flight and my father won. It was then the Collins said he would pay for it. Lt.Parker and Lt.Helacaan have found that a escape Pod did indeed been launched from the ship just before it exploded, However the course has the Pod heading to The Taris system. As we all know back then that System was held by the Orion Pirates. Since the pirates were sent packing and the Federation has come in to help the Terith's i believe this is our next location to search."
Jon looked at all the officers at the table, He looked at his Mother the longest before turning back to the Colonel. "Sir what do you believe we should do?"

OOC: Slight back-post first.
"Lt.Parker and Helacaan report."
"Sir," Seth said, slightly surprised to see the first officer. When he'd seen his humanoid figure approaching from max range across the invisible surface of space, it had seemed almost like a mirage. Eventually the melted lines of perception came together to resolve as the smiling Jon Park, and Seth was left slightly bewildered.
"We've run the simulation several times. The explosion seems to be the result of containment cell failure which would normally suggest an accident. An escape pod was ejected in the last moments, but according to the sensors it was empty."
Once they'd run it one more time, and Park had identified the region the escape pod was headed to, Seth eyed the Arch he'd just opened. "I'm going to run some more tests on the flight recorder," he said. "I need to identify if this was truly an accident, or as I suspect, sabotage."
Luckily, Seth knew how to identify the data that belonged on the element with the crack in it. It was of course obvious that the fracture was made with a high precision instrument, probably much the same as Seth's quantum-tipped tool. If the COO was correct about the model number type of the black box, the ill-belonging flaw could be worked around. Once he'd performed the correctional operation, the evidence was revealing as in itself.
The briefing was also helpfully revealing. What the gathered officers were talking about, helped to illuminate the matter as a whole for Seth; he'd almost been floundering in amongst everything, remaining focussed on his own section of it, risking losing sight of the larger issue. He took interest in Commander Park's musings on the tritium power cells; the first officer was correct, they were not standard issue for fusion reactors in Starfleet designs. Park moved on and eventually finished with a question to the Colonel.
So.. Seth thought, it did seem they would be heading for the Taris system next. A logical choice, if their plan was to find the possibly alive Michael Park, it was a very definite possibility they'd find him there. After a moment of silence, during which the Colonel seemed to be pondering Park's question, Seth gently eased into the discussion, armed with his evidence.
"Sirs, if I may, I did some more analysis of the flight recorder after the simulation. I now have what is surely conclusive proof that the engine complex was sabotaged. Meant to fail. The evidence for this was covered up by the spoiling of the data recorder, a hairline fracture was rendered across it to conceal just the part that showed the containment cells to have been illegitimately tampered with prior to launch.
"That is not all. I have also uncovered something that will make the continuation of this search worthwhile, although it is not conclusive at this stage, the escape pod was indeed manned, negating what the craft's sensors told us." He indicated Lieutenant Parker next to him. "The Taris system seems a very good place to search. And as for the person responsible for the sabotage... I will keep investigating?

He listend to what his crew had come up with and now he was faced with the a tough choice. He could report there findings to star fleet or risk heading to the Taris system and put his new found command at risk. Star fleet didnt like commading officer taking joy rides in there ship. Even if he reported what they found there was still a chance somebody would cover it up or worse loose his report.
Lookig around the table at each of them they had worked hard and in his mind they all deserved to see the end of this through. Even if it got him into trouble it was a tough choice but only for a few secounds. " Very well it would seem our work her at earth is done. We have uncovered some very intersting things which I will pass along in my report." pausing for a moment and letting the breath he had been holding out " It seems to me we haven't really tested the up grades to the warp drive yet. I think a test flight to the Taris system might give us a chance to make sure everything in running correctly" <Tag all>

Jon knew what his Captain was saying, "Aye sir i will clear our departure with star fleet." Jon walked out of the Observation lodge, "Helm set course for the Taris system. Once we clear drydock go to warp 5." Park moved to the Secondary Tactical station.
"Star fleet Command this is Commander Park on the USS Nevada, We have finished upgrades to our warp engines and are requesting permission to test them." Jon saw the small screen on the Tactical Flashed and he saw Lt. Sanders face. "USS Nevada your clear to leave the stations security field, All worker bees and shuttles have been cleared from your flight past. Warp tests approved good luck."
Jon hit the command to end the communication and said to Lt.Parker who just replaced the officer just there. "Lt.Parker, engage engines."
<Tag Parker>
Jon watched the ship leave the dock and moved to his console. since Ensign Borgus left for unknown reasons at earth Jon retook Tactical. He looked at the screen as the stars went from normal to there warp streaks. Jon stood at the console for a while running sensor scans of the space around them.
Jon was looking at a few Padds when the console started to flash, Jon was so into the report on the Padd he didn't see it. "Sir, the console." Lt.Commander Thomas who was acting CSTO since they were waiting for a replacement officer pointed to the console. "Thank you Commander." Jon went back to the console.
"This is the medical ship...... Need assistance, Under attack.... Sending posti..... Repeat Under Att...."
Jon knew what he should do however he wasn't the only one in charge. Jon turned to the Helm. "Lt.Parker, Locate the source of the distress call and engage maximum Warp." Just to keep up protocol "Red Alert. Colonel Runningwolf to the Bridge."
<Tag All>
Jon saw that his Mother standing by the doors to Operations. "Commander Park it would be an honor if you take the Science station." Jane Park stood by the door shocked a sec. "The honor is Mine Commander." Jane started to hit commands and said. "I have the ship on long range sensors, Scans not picking up the attacking ships."

He arrived in time to here Mrs. Park report on no attacking ships, He took his seat which still felt strange to him. " Mr. Park report what do we have" <Tag Park>
He nodded his head listening to Mr. Park turning to Mrs. Park " Start scanning for known cloaking devices its a small chance but who ever attacked that ship might be waiting to nail who ever shows up"<Tag Mrs. Park>
Looking at his helm officer and thankful he had a highly trained Pilot " Lt Parker I dont want you going strait in there I want you to approach like we are going to attack. If somebody is out there it will throw off there targeting system for a secound or two" <Tag Ms. Parker>
He didn't look back to know all senior officers were on the bridge " Mr. Seth see what you can learn about this area of space and the ship we are responding to. Also inform star fleet we are engaged in a rescue mission" <Tag Mr. Seth> After everything they had been through he wasn't getting a good feeling about this. Looking for Mr. Park father had led them to a cover up. On top that while enroute to the Taris system a ship is under attack it sent warning bells off in his head. He long since learned to trust those litte bells. " Mr. Park I want all avaible power channelled to the shields if we get hit something tells me it will be hard. Also I want photon torpedoes on full tatical spread ensure the ship we are going to rescue is not a targer. I'm hoping this is one of those times I'm just over reacting" <Tag Mr. Park>

"Red Alert. Colonel Runningwolf to the Bridge."
Seth ran his scans while Park had the ship redirected in its course. They were almost halfway to the Taris system. Littlewood's upgraded engines had been working perfectly, but it seemed like they wouldn't be able to show their full potential for a while. They had a distress call to answer.
Immediately after Runningwolf arrived on the bridge, Seth set about combing the area with intense sensor sweeps. If the unseen assailant was in the region then he'd find it... unless it was cloaked, in which case detection would be a lot tougher.
That was a possibility that was becoming much more likely as the sensors started coming up with nothing, continuously returning negative results. The Colonel had the ship posture for attack. Seth hoped that, if there was a hidden ship out there, that they couldn't operate weapons and shields while cloaked; he knew that to be Runningwolf's hope as well, although what the Colonel said confirmed for Seth that this was somewhat of a distant hope. If the enemy was cloaked and the medical ship claimed it was under attack then there was a good chance they could use their weapons as they were.
" Mr. Seth see what you can learn about this area of space and the ship we are responding to. Also inform star fleet we are engaged in a rescue mission" ordered the Colonel.
"Yes, sir," Seth said. Wondering if the Colonel would ever let up on the 'Mr. Seth', the COO sent the subspace message back to Starfleet, which didn't take long as the Nevada was virtually in the heart of the Federation. Starfleet responded quickly... "Sir," he said to the Colonel, "Starfleet acknowledges and gives us leave to engage in the rescue, although they say we should call for assistance the instant that it's needed."
<tag Runningwolf>
He set about trying to find something out about the medical ship, finding quick results given the knowledge that the Federation held on virtually every square kilometre of space within twenty parsecs of Earth. He reported to the Captain and first officer:
"The ship in distress is exactly what it professes to be, a medical supplies and triage vessel, enroute from Barnard's star to Hemal III, passing right by the Taris sytem. It seems they've had to steer clear of the system for some reason..."
Seth looked up at the viewscreen, which displayed a long-range image of the transport, now in range. It wasn't obviously under attack, although it was damaged heavily by recent weapons' fire according to the sensors. There was a ship out there somewhere, and Seth had some suspicions as to its identity.

"Damn. Damn. Damn." Dunowin muttered as he rounded the corner and burst into the transporter room.
"The Nevada? " he asked as he tried to catch his breath.
"You just missed 'em Ensign. They just warped outta system." the tech replied.
"Damn." he said once again.
He knew that he was gonna be cutting it close to reporting on board when he found out that they wanted to have a special luncheon for the top 5 graduates in his class and that Admiral Morley would be speaking to them. Dunowin had sat there the whole time watching the chronometer and silently wishing that the admiral would hurry.
I always did think he was long winded. thought Dunowin. But of course, you couldn't tell an admiral that. Not if you wanted any type of career in Starfleet.
"What about a shuttle?" he asked. "Any way I could get one to take me out to them?"
"You head over to shuttle bay 3 and I'll send over the request for ya." answered the transporter tech.
"Thanks." he called back over his shoulder as he ran out.
He made his way over to bay 3 and was relieved to see a shuttle standing by and waiting on him. As he approached the doorway, Admiral Morley stepped out. Dunowin stopped in his tracks and snapped to attention.
"Sir." he called.
"It's okay, Ensign. The transporter room had to get my approval for a shuttle and I figured it was the least I could do since I'm the reason you're now running late."
"Nonsense, sir." he replied.
"A piece of advise if you wanna make in Starfleet, son. Don't try to kid a kidder. Now get on board and get out to your ship. That's an order." said the admiral with a grin as he stepped out of the way.
"Aye, aye, sir." answered Dunowin, stepping into the shuttle.
Once they had cleared the atmosphere, they had gotten directions from HQ as to which way the Nevada was heading. Dunowin sat back and began reading over tech specs for the Nevada. He wanted to be ready for anything that came up in his engine room.
The shuttle had made descent time and they had caught up the the Nevada quicker then Dunowin thought. Now the butterflies in his stomach were really going.
"Starfleet shuttle USS Oregon to USS Nevada. I have one of your crew aboard that requests permission to beam over." he heard the pilot announce.

He heard the communication and was a little shocked by it, while they were expecting a replacement it seemed like bad timing. He turned to Mr. Seth " Open a secure channel Mr. Seth and inform them of our current status then give them the shield frequences as well. Your going to have to beam our new officer over through the shields and while we are still at warp. I'm sure you can handle the transfer easy enough just don't scramble him up and have him turn into a chicken or something"

" Mr. Park status on the damaged ship how badly are they damaged and how much time do we have"
Jon snapped out of his trance since the ship had a human with them, Park tapped the commands to bring up the scan of the ship. "She had damage to her warp and impulse engines.The weapons systems are destroyed and the ship is running on 1/4 impulse. Heading 321 mark 45." Jon extracted the route but his mother beat him to it. "The ship is heading into a nebula that is in the system sir." She looked at her son and smiled.
Jon smiled back and ran the next scan. "Still no sign of any enemy ships." Jon looked at the scan again. "Commander Park, can you clear up the backround EM Surge." Jon said to his mother. She tapped a few commands and called back to him. "Try it now sir." Jon looked at his mother with that look that said ok that was odd.
Jon scanned again. "Sir i have found a Orian light cruiser, it was trying to block our scans with a em pulse."

" Ms. Parker whats our ETA and what apporach vector have you chosen to arrive at the ship"
Parker tapped her console. "At this speed 20 minutes sir. I have made the ship come in so we are blocking her with our strongest Shields to the port side." She moved the ship into transporter range of the shuttle.

"Commander Park i have the shuttle in range." She looked at Jon and almost made an error. Jon looked at her and she knew he was thinking why did he ask.
"Sorry sir for force of habit. Should i assist Lt.Helaccan with our new officer?"

"Starfleet shuttle USS Oregon to USS Nevada. I have one of your crew aboard that requests permission to beam over."
Seth somewhat nervously began the operation of bringing their new engineer aboard as per orders, while the rest of the bridge focussed on the rescue.
"USS Oregon, this is the Nevada. We are currently engaged in a rescue mission," he transmitted, trying not to let the preoccupation of tension into his voice, the tension that the whole bridge was feeling. "We are sending you our shield frequencies. Prepare for warp speed beam out."
He cut the channel, leaving the Oregon to prepare for the arrival's transportation to the Nevada, and slip alongside the Akira class vessel as it glided through the empty void at warp.
He left the bridge for transporter room one, preferring to conduct the beaming over of the new man with the fullest of controls available to him at the transporter console. Seth did not want to be responsible for the death of a new officer, all because he failed to take the time to go to a transporter room.
"I'll take it from here, Chief," the Wezean said to the operator at the controls as he entered the room. He waved the chief away with his hand and checked the displays, configuring it to receive a matter stream at supralight speed. "I've only done this once," he said offhand, getting the sense that the chief was looking at him in alarm.
Seth knew what he was doing though, there was always risk associated with such things, just as it had been a risk striking that ship supplies crewman at the start of this assignment. "Oregon," he transmitted, "Ready your man for beam out. Transport in twenty seconds." The countdown began, Seth counted it down, feeling the nerves, he'd hate to fail. He'd had too much failure recently.
Helacaan worked the controls then watched as, miraculously and without incident, a new Chief Engineer took form from the shimmering cascade of the transporter effect. The process finished and the slightly disorientated officer looked around as the COO moved around the control console, giving it back to the chief.
"Welcome to the Nevada," Seth smiled with a leer, raising his eyebrow.
<tag Dunowin>
"New arrival aboard safely," Seth said on tapping his commbadge, once he'd informed Ensign Dunowin of his quarters' location.

"We are sending you our shield frequencies. Prepare for warp speed beam out."
"Get ready Ensign." the pilot told Dunowin.
"Get ready?" he replied nervously. "For warp speed beaming? Are you nuts?"
"Ready your man for beam out. Transport in twenty seconds." came the voice over the comm again.
"That's your cue. You might wanna get on the transport pad." suggested the pilot with a grin.
"Warp speed beaming." repeated Dunowin. "I've only ever read about it. I never knew anyone who actually......" his voice trailing off as the transporter took hold.
*On the Nevada*
"......did it." he said, completing his sentence as he rematerialized on the Nevada. He quickly looked around and began taking stock of himself feeling all his body parts to insure that everything came along with him.
"Welcome to the Nevada," said the Lt stepping out from the transport controls.
"Oh my God. We. I. You. That was an actual warp speed transport." he said excitedly. "I think I need to sit down." he said as he began to lower himself to the transporter steps.
A moment later, with Dunowin somewhat recovered, the Lt directed him to his quarters.
"Thank you, sir. As soon as I drop off my gear and dawn a fresh uniform, I'll report to the Captain." said Dunowin.
He found his quarters with ease thanks to the great directions. He threw his bag on his bunk and stripped. He than jumped in for a quick shower and put on a new uniform and headed for a turbo lift. He past several crew members in the corridor who had all said hello.
"Quite a friendly bunch." he muttered as he entered the lift. "Bridge." he said. 30 seconds later, the doors parted onto the command center of the Nevada. He exited and took a brief second to take in the bridge before approaching the........Marine Colonel sitting in the command chair? he thought to himself.
"Ensign Dunowin, Chief Engineer, reporting for duty, sir." he said as he came to attention.

Looking at Lt Parker and not taking her comment to heart. Mr. Park had been in command until his arrival so he chalked it up to change. " Its alright Ms. Parker I'm still getting use to the center seat my self. If you want to make it up to me. Then that will be easy just be a better pilot then the one flying the orion ship over there and we'll call it even"<tag Parker>
He turned to see Lt Helcaan return a little lessed stressed " Mr. Seth you do now realize you are truely one of the few people in star fleet who have mastered warp transport. Quite impressive Lt. Now do me a favor make sure that Orion ship out there can't call for any back up and see if you can getting anything on it"<tag Seth>
" Mr. Park since we now know where they are why dont you make sure they know it as well. Put a warning shot across her bow and tell her to back off. Also see if you can clear up the communication between us and the damaged freighter. Don't need them getting scared about who's coming to dinner with there senors out"
a minute later there new arrival was on the bridge Ensign Dunowin looking a worse for the wear. " Ensign you do realize you are one of the few people to live through a high warp beam out. I would say your name will go down in the record book. At easy Ensign assume your station you joined us in time. See what power you can muster in to our port shields just case somebody gets a itch trigger finger" <Tag Dunowin>
"Mr. Park any word from the frieghter yet?" <tag Park>

"Aye Sir, I will get right on it." Jon said as he aimed for the ship. Locking on he fired a shot across the port side and the ship moved off. "The orion ship has moved off she is 150 meters from the transport ship."
Jon looked at the scanners as he worked to clear up the signal from the transport ship and the Nevada. "Sir i have cleared up some of the interferance, However i am reading only 3 lifesigns there were 7 before."
Jon looked at the scanners and then to Commander Thomas. He just shrugged. Park looked at the console and then the Colonel, "Sir i belive i have the answer, There seams to be members of the transport ship on the nearby planet."

"Ensign you do realize you are one of the few people to live through a high warp beam out. I would say your name will go down in the record book.
"Forget history, sir. I never want to do that again if I can help it." replied Dunowin
"At easy Ensign assume your station you joined us in time. See what power you can muster in to our port shields just case somebody gets a itch trigger finger"
"Aye, sir." he answered as he began moving to the engineering station on the right side of the bridge instead of heading down to Main engineering. "Computer." he said as he reached his position. "Ensign Dunowin reportring as Chief Engineer. Please record assignment and allow access to all available functions. Security code.." he continued as he entered his arrival and took control over the Engineering department.
"Access complete." came the computers reply.
He quickly pulled up the energy allocations for the Nevada and begn looking to see where he could pull extra power from as the CO ordered. As they were on a rescue mission and never knew what could happen, Dunowin was careful not to touch certain systems such as Medical, transporters, sensors and weapons. Otherwise, he was able to transfer energy from several other ship systems that were not of major consequence at the moment including the holodecks, quarters of personel that were on duty and weren't being used right now and a just a tad from life support in unoccupied areas of the ship.
Turning back to the Colonel, he announced, "Sir. I was able to bring the port side shields up another 15%."

Seth didn't show it, nor did he want to, but secretly inside he beamed at Runningwolf's praise of him. He saw it as praise anyway. He considered telling the Colonel that it was no matter, just part of his job and what he'd been ordered to do, but decided against it. Doing that pushed things to the edge of smugness, and besides, he needed to get back in character.
"Now do me a favor make sure that Orion ship out there can't call for any back up and see if you can getting anything on it"
"Yes, sir." Seth retook his console, noticing as he began his work that Ensign Dunowin was entering the bridge. He watched the Ensign with interest for a few seconds, seeing how he adapted to the situation quite quickly, the Ensign had been somewhat overwhelmed by the warp-speed beamover.
"Hasak," Seth turned to the assistant ops officer behind him at the Mission Ops station. "See if you can find any information on Orion raiders' activity in this region. Coordinate with Commander Park - the senior one." He indicated Jane Park at the science station.
"Aye sir," Hasak said, working his station and glancing at Park's mother. Helacaan turned back to his controls; he instantly started laying down a tight comm-blanket over the volume. His intention was to completely jam the Orion ship's communications, by blocking the frequencies that Starfleet knew the Orions to use, as well as nearby frequencies - he didn't want to jam the medical ship too much.
The Nevada was now intensely jamming the Orion vessel, and was approaching the zone of the action fast. They had dropped from warp, already having fired a warning shot.
"Sir." Seth spun; it was Hasak. He nodded to his assistant to say 'yes?' "I've analysed Orion activity in the region. To cut to the line, they're maintaining a base nearby as far as I can tell. They are very active here, and their craft seem to be operating around a central point in this system."
Seth nodded and turned back to face the forward viewscreen, but his eye was instantly caught by Runningwolf's. Seth analysed the Colonel's expression and then nodded in realisation; the Colonel had heard Hasak's report.
<tag Runningwolf>
Then Seth overheard Park's report, a small amazement given all the background chatter between the bridge crew: "...There seams to be members of the transport ship on the nearby planet." Seth waited before speaking; he scanned the surface for himself. It was partially industrialised, many settlements but, from initial scans, not greatly advanced.
It was bewildering that they would be down there. Why would they do so when their craft had originally tried to steer clear of the system, diverting from their initial flight plan? The only explanation was that they were trying to escape the Orion attack, but if they had wanted to miss the entire system because of the Orions in the first place, why go down to the planet?
"Confirmed," Seth said eventually, picking up the four lifesigns on the planet. "Captain, Commander, that planet might be heavily populated by the Orion syndicate. I recommend that if we are to rescue them we should enter orbit quickly to retrieve them, but we should exercise great caution with regard to the planet."

Jon looked across the bridge to his mother as she looked at the same lifesigns he did. Jon knew the human was a male who was about the same age his father would be.
Jane Park looked as the Assistant Ops officer was handing her a report. "Thank you." Jane said. Park looked as her son reported to the Marine Colonel. Jane slipped from her seat and walked into the turbolift. "Fighter bay." she said. The computer beeped. Fighter Deck is restricted to level 3 Command personnal Secuirty Code required. Jane smiled. "Authrozation Park Alpha 1 Bravo." The computer beeped and went down.
Jon was so looking at his console so long he missed the fact his mother left the bridge. "Commander have you seen your mother." Thomas said to him. "Wait what." Jon looked at Thomas and then to where his mother sat. "Computer locate Commander Park.
Commander Park is on the bridge. Jon rolled his eyes and relized since his mother and him were the same rank that request wouldn't work. "Computer loctate Comander first class Jane Park." The computer work a moment. Commander Jane Park is in the fighter bay.
Jon was alarmed "Colonel my mother is getting herself into trouble. She has gotten into the Fighter bay and attempting to access on of the new fighters we have on the ship. Should i send Marine Captian Marks after her."

He listend to all the reports and that fact that Jane Park was accessing a fighter. " No Mr. Park I think it would be best handled by you. She's your mother she might listen to what you have to say. Tell her she can go on the rescue mission as the science officer. If Mr. Seth reports are right which I'm sure they are. We are going to have to move fast and get out fast"<tag park>
Turning to Ms. Parker "Get us in as close as you can so we can try and beam those people off. After wards I want you to take us to warp and make it look like we left the system. Then work with Mr. Seth and bring us back in on there blind side"<Tag Parker>
Turning to the engineer " Sorry you dont have time to get settled Mr. Dunowin but your going to be busy. I want you to make us as quite and hard to pick up as possible shut down what ever systems you need but leave enough power for us to beam a team down to the planet if need be. You also going to have to figure a way to beam those people of that ship with our sheilds up. Maybe you could extend our shield around them or something"
"Mr. Seth find a way to track those people down there and hack what ever system you have to learn more about this planet. I dont want to send team in there blind also can't tack medical and let them know we might have injured personal"
"okay people we have alot of things to do and we have to be fast and careful. I expect anothing but your best something I know that you do all the time lets get to the bottom of this fast before the realize what just happened"

"Aye, sir." Dunowin answered as he turned back to the ship schematic still showing ion his console.
The first thing he did was send out a visual ship wide alert announcing their intent to rig the Nevada for silent running. He then requested all off duty and non essential personnel to report to and remain in their quarters until further notice. This would avoid any unexpected noises from those crew members. He than proceeded to cut full power from the places he had just borrowed from earlier, ie..the holodecks, the lounge and on duty crew quarters. Once all the excess power was shut down, he turned back to the CO.
"All power cut and we are running silent, sir." he said. "We do still have transporter rooms 1 and 2 as requested, and we're able to maintain minimal warp and weapons should we need them."

Looking over at there new chief engineer " My hat is off to you Mr. Dunowin that was very fast and very clever to beable to maintain some of our more importan systems. Something tells you are full of tricks and a welcome member of our crew" <Tag Dunowin>
OCC sorry so short lets try to clear up the people on the ship and get rolling again. We have a ship of the month award to defend.

"Acknowledged, sir." Seth replied to the Colonel's orders. He watched as Park entered the turbolift and then started working on scanning the surface more intensively.
He worked the displays and slowly the lay of the land around the medical ship's beam down site started to reveal itself. It was the centre of one of the industrialised zones, which incidentally made scanning for precise lifesigns difficult, as the area was rife with air-permeating pollution. It was difficult to resolve the beam-out targets from the rest of the lifesigns at first, that was until Seth ran the biosensors, taking the duty from the vacant science station for a moment.
The population was all Orion, apart from four biosigns, huddled close to one another close to a large heat source - a factory or something similar. Seconds later, after runaway strands of connected logical thought had been followed, Seth was ready to give his report and some useful advice.
"I have a viable candidate for a potential beam down site. It would put the away team in a location that's completely concealed. From there they can recover the medical ship civilians, who I have also located nearby." He sighed as new information rolled across. "On the other hand, it looks like a direct beam-out of them is going to be difficult. The Orions have deflector screens blocking their urban centres, making beaming people out near impossible. It's like a one-way trap door, we can enter, but getting out is tougher. We'll need to beam down with pattern enhancers if we want to get them back up through."
<tag Bridge crew>
* * *
The Nevada sped on to the site of the beleaguered and blind medical ship, as it was hounded by the cloaking/de-cloaking Orion raider vessel. There were three lifesigns left on the medical ship, Seth had to wonder why that was. Why had over half the crew decided to beam off down to the Orion planet, while the others remained aboard? It was a mystery that would hopefully resolve itself when they transported them over to the Nevada.
Commander Thomas fired a few more warning shots at the Orion vessel, with first officer Park absent from the bridge. Seth saw on the viewscreen how the small craft banked off and away, nervously turning its strong side to the Akira class ship and fleeing the immediate scene, as a couple of phaser beams went close.
Helacaan looked over to Dunowin, then back to the viewscreen. He saw how the Nevada was very quickly pulling alongside the stricken medical ship, too fast for the thrusters to be able to provide sufficient, corrective thrust no matter the level of skill Lieutenant Parker possessed. So the Nevada's transporters had to work fast. "I suggest you work quickly, Ensign," Seth advised Dunowin. The Wezean needed the new chief engineer to find a way past the shields so that he could beam the trio of medical crew over.

"Thank you, sir." Dunowin answered in reply to his COs words as he returned his attention to his console.
He was making sure that everything remained quite and was also listen to the bustle of the rest of the bridge crew. He couldn't believe everything that was happening.
And this is just my first day, hell, my first few moments aboard. he thought.
He listened as Lt. Helacaan reported on the possibilities of beaming to and from the planet and about the deflector shields in place.
"I suggest you work quickly, Ensign,"
"Aye, sir. Checking the deflector now being used against all other known Orion configurations." Dunowin said.
A moment later, Dunowin had his answer.
"They appear to be using an upgraded version of a standard Orion deflector shield, sir." he reported. "I should be able to modify one of our torpedoes to match the frequency and when we're ready to beam anyone up, we can fire it at the shields to make a hole. It would last about 45 seconds."
