"Seems like we've been drafted back to the ship," Christina Taylor observed. The two persons with her, ship CScO and CTSO, nodded minutely. "That was shortlived then," the Ops Lieutenant continued. She then began casually moaning about how they had been called over to the Starbase by Commander Gheskori, only to learn that the people they were meant to be showing around the station, the vulcans, people they were meant to be introducing to some of the more interesting curiosities of the twenty-fourth century, the things they would find unfamiliar from where - or rather when - they came from, had instead ended up staying on the ship.
A shame really, as Christina had already been culturally gearing herself up. Another time, then, perhaps. She sighed. She supposed she should be making her way back; recently promoted Lieutenant Bligh had asked her to the mess hall, presumably to share a drink. She was a little bit confused at the reasons for the invite... It was a way to celebrate both of their promotions, but her promotion had been over three months ago. She could only suppose that he must like her, and not the plutonic, between friends kind of like, but that, other, different kind of 'like'...
That would certainly make things interesting, she thought, as she stepped onto the surface of the vestibule, heading back shipwards. Back well over a year ago, she'd nearly struck up a relationship with the ship's chief engineer, whose name she could not even bring herself to think about. Not that it was painful, it was just, uncomfortable. As she understood, that chief engineer - now first officer on a different ship - and Lieutenant Bligh were still good friends. So, would Bligh's advancement not bend, or even break, the 'bond of trust' between them?
Ha! how pithy, she thought. Over-analysis was an awful thing sometimes, but quite unavoidable most of those times.
She stepped on to the bridge, taking the mission ops console that was situated among the consoles at the bridge's rear, facing the opposite direction to the viewscreen. Despite the shore leave, she wanted to make sure all the appropriate systems that mission ops utilised were prepared for a new venture. Rumour had it that their next assignment was out on the other side of the fallen Jolmaran system, at a system known as Gorecki's Maze. Something untoward was definitely taking place out there, or so they had heard, and that something was not unrelated to the Kasar. The Victory, with its new-found expertise in the Kasar, were at the forefront of the ships being considered for the mission. Again, as far as they had heard.

Twenty minutes later... Personnel Officer's office, Starbase Assailant"There's definitely some strange happenings, sir, or so I'm told. Reports have it that the shipyards at 35 Serpentis have experienced power failures. Reasons unknown. Sorry it wasn't in my own report but I didn't consider it immediately pertinent to our own mission." Gheskori gave Admiral Lin an apologetic shrug, displaying the most human-like smile that he could muster. "That is fine Mr Gheskori you can fill me in now""Well, the LaSalle suffered damage to major systems, including its warp drive, during the engagement with the Kasar. The Captain had his vessel limp back to 35 Serpentis as it was the closest base in range that was safe from the Kasan'thar armada. The power loss at those 'yards is either incidental, or something else is going on." "Something else?" Lin inquired. "I don't like to speculate too much, sir," Ghes said, speaking quickly, "But after giving it some thought, I reasoned it possible that this is some attempt by the Kasar to gain a secondary foothold in this sector. They've already conquered the Jolmaran system, taken it as a staging point for possible further invasion of this region. Who knows, a fully-fledged assault by their fleet might not be what they consider the next rational move. Perhaps they're trying subterfuge." "We are not technically at war with the Kasar yet, and so subterfuge is likely to be a key tool they would use. But we can't jump to conclusion. It is Starfleets and the Presidents wish that we remain outside of armed conflict with any race, and that includes the Kasar despite our recent engagements."After Lin had given his thoughts, Gheskori geared himself up to make his request. "Sir, I'd like to volunteer the Victory to go and investigate what's going on at those shipyards. I know we've already been given the Gorecki's Maze assignment, but - " There was a momentary rocking sensation below their feet, coming from somewhere that felt like it could've been a light year away. But Ghes instantly knew, for them to even feel something that was obviously so distant, it meant trouble. Lin was on his feet; the Admiral would know better than the Denobulan the possible seriousness of whatever had happened. They both heard a distant alarm. Ghes turned his head sharply as the door slid open; an aide stepping into its entrance. "We have reports of an explosion on the docking ring," he said, seemingly breathless as if he'd run a mile. Ghes let Lin do the talking, stepping back allowing the Admiral to vocalise what he himself was also thinking... which was, What!?A visual report came through on the wall console display which Ghes had activated outside of Lin's office. He studied the live schematic of the docking ring which the console displayed. The image confirming what the aide was telling him and Magellan Lin, that the explosion had occurred at the Victory's docking vestibule entrance. Ghes searched for information on the size of the blast....It wasn't clear, but from initial indications it did appear that it was nothing small. "I have to get down there," Gheskori said to the Admiral. <Tag ALL> OOC: Right, this is the initial part. Let's see where this goes. We are ALL on the Starbase, as Dr. Saryn has suggested. There are, of course, the obligatory NPCs that can be on the ship. I have only one other thing to make clear, and that is that the explosion near the vestibule has cast the Victory loose of its mooring.. Inside the docking arena!

Saryn had remained on the starbase to await his appointment with the starbase commanders, in regards to his request to remain on the Victory as chief medical officer. He knew he needed to brush up on his medical knowledge, as well as his general knowledge of the era, but he didn't forsee that many problems in that area.
T'Vin was exploring the starbase with Numike and Sodon, while Savin had opted to return to the ship and acquaint himself with sickbay, as he too wished to remain on the Victory. T'Vin and Sodon would be taking the first available transport to Earth, where they would look into intergrating into this era as well as find means of education for Sodon and Numike. However Numike was adamant on staying with her father, having a much stronger bond with him, than with her adoptive mother.
Since T'Vin was somewhat wary of her emotional vampire daughter, the Vulcan woman didn't object. She was, of course, silently proud of the girl's accomplisments, but would not force her to go somewhere where she didn't want to be. And Savin was old enough to make his own choices.
Saryn quietly walked down the corridor which would lead to the Admiral's office, when he felt a tremor under his feet. He turned, staring down the way he'd come, eyes narrowing as he listened. The feeling was unfamiliar to him, yet he couldn't help but feel that something bad was afoot. Bad, and dangerous.
His robes whistling around his ankles, he ran down the corridor, his appointment forgotten. He was a doctor, if there was an explosion, then no matter how outdated his knowledge, he had to help. He couldn't just stand aside and not help, simply because people thought he was obsolete.
~
Aboard the Victory, Savin was thrown off his feet as the explosion detached the Victory from her moorings, sending her afloat out of control within spacedock. He landed hard, crashing into one of the nurses who'd also lost her balance.
"I do apologise ma'am," he murmured as he reached to help the girl back onto her feet, "are you undamaged?"
The nurse stared at him as if he were mad. "Undamaged?" she breathed, gazing into his startled grey eyes. "Oh...unhurt. Yes, I am, thank you." She straightened, smoothening down her uniform, then tapped her combadge. "Bridge, what the hell is going on here. Why's sickbay's staff being thrown around like rag dolls?"
<tag any npc on the bridge>
She regarded the young Vulcan beside her. "We'd better get ready here, just in case. I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name. Are you a doctor?"
Savin almost smiled as he inclined his head. "Yes ma'am I am, however I am not up to date with modern medicine. I regret to inform you that I am one of the timetravelers I hear gossip about. My name is Savin, my father may be assigned as chief medical officer on this vessel. He is Saryn, and he is currently awaiting approval for us to remain here."
The nurse blushed under his scrutiny. "Danielle Mallard," she replied, "senior nurse. Pleased to meet you. Now...let's get ready."
"Yes ma'am," the young doctor replied, waiting to be given anything to do as he still didn't know his way around.
"Office, read the most current protocols, you'll find them on the computer," Danielle supplied helpfully, shaking her head as she watched the Vulcan go.

"Don't be hasty" Magellan noted getting swiftly to his feet and leading the Denobulan quickly out into the Operations. They were met by the Bolian Aide.
"Shields are up and we are at Red Alert."
Magellan nodded and came over to the master situation table.
"Report" His tone was terse and commanding.
The Bolian traced a hand over a graphic of the station. There was an explosion here" he said pointing to the docking arm holding the Victory. "The blast has caused considerable damage to the interior of the dock and started fires in several decks."
"Damage Control" Magellan barked into his comm.
Over a hiss of roaring flames and coughing came a voice. "Alari here. Control teams are in place and fires are coming under control on deck 45 but 46 and 47 are still unreachable."
"Thanks Chief keep working."
"Sir we have a larger threat" A Regulan Commander pointed out from flight control console, "The blast has given enough momentum to cross the internal deck. Shes on a collision course for the far side."
Magellan turned back to Gheskori, "Now you get to go to your ship. Lily"
From out of nowhere a stunning young woman with purple hair and eyes materialized. Gheskori recalled from somewhere that Assailant had acquired a sentient computer system as a result of a malfunction this he assumed must be its avatar.
"Lily" Magellan continued "Prepare a site to site transport." Magellan turned back to Gheskori, "I m sending you directly to your bridge. You have perhaps a minute to get her under control. Ready...."

"Bridge, what the hell is going on here. Why's sickbay's staff being thrown around like rag dolls?"
That was a very good question, Taylor thought later on. Right now at this time, she didn't have much of answer. True, she knew what was going on, but she had no idea 'why'. She would never have thought it likely three months ago - when she was still an ensign - but Christina Taylor was the highest ranked officer on the bridge. Highest ranked, out of five.
She looked wild-eyed at the ensign, whom had just rushed to the tactical console. She shrugged, indicating that the ensign ought to explain what was going on. "Umm.." the young man said to the air, over the open comm channel, "It seems there was some sort of explosion on the starbase. We've been cast free of our moorings."
Taylor nearly swallowed her tongue as she gulped. The reality of it was unbearable, so much so that she would not believe it. Her mouth thought differently though... "Standby sickbay, there will be casualties en route." She continued reading the damage report filtering through slowly on the panel display, "It looks like we have some damage to your deck, there's a micro-fracture along the starboard quarter, air's escaping. Stay out of corridor 5-theta, we'll have it locked down."
<Tag Savin (Saryn) & others?>
"It's about time they made Starbase docking bays pressurised," the male ensign observed.
Taylor smiled very briefly; it was both humourous and true, but she didn't have time for that kind of thing. "Start locking down that deck, Ensign..."
"Bakaui."
She nodded, giving a lazy hand gesture to Ensign Bakaui that he should follow up on his orders. With the Victory mainly shut down for shore leave, and the main power supply having been switched to Assailant, every ship process was and would be taking ten times as long to be completed. She requested for the Newtonian thrusters to be fired up, only to receive the response that that would take at least ten minutes. The thrusters had been in a state of cryo-freeze when the explosion occurred - not three minutes ago - and so they would take much longer to warm up; especially considering the power for the heating mechanism had been supplied by the Starbase.
"Oh, this is really, really... unfortunate." She muttered, feeling like punching a hole through her console's liquid crystal display. Without the thrusters online, there was absolutely nothing to stop the Victory from drifting, quite serenely, into the far side of the great smoothly curving wall of the docking bay... in approximately, one minute and thirty seconds. And nothing was working! They could not even speak with the Starbase because the communication system was offline. Everything except heating, lighting and even-more-general life support was completely powered down, and it would take too long to get the warp-core up and running.
A brief stint in command then, Taylor thought darkly, as the unseen docking bay wall drew closer and closer.

Gheskori did exactly what he'd pledged to do and stayed back, out of the hair of Admiral Lin and his senior controllers. He followed every word that was said however, learning everything about what had happened on the docking ring of Starbase Assailant. Lin turned to him at last, giving him leave to return to the Victory.
"I m sending you directly to your bridge. You have perhaps a minute to get her under control. Ready...."
"Can we not use a tractor beam?" Ghes inquired politely, as he readied himself for a site-to-site beam out courtesy of the Starbase's avatar and her commander.
"Tractor power relays were knocked out by the blast," a controller informed him.
"Ah," Ghes tutted, "Just our luck." He then dissolved in the transporter's beam of light.
The change-of-scene was hardly drastic, thought the Denobulan, when he shimmered back into the world as he knew it. "Quite the same in fact," he said aloud. He looked around. On the bridge of the Victory existed the same quiet, calculated sense of inevitability; of impending doom. The only difference was that the busy hive of the operations room he'd been in previously, had been replaced by a mostly empty starship bridge; but that was a minor detail given the hefty weight of the other concern.
Surprised faces greeted him, he brushed them aside. Taking to the command seat, he checked his armrest's panel. "Thrusters?" he asked.
"Non-operational," an operations lieutenant said to him. Ghes looked her way, frowning happily with a slight expression of puzzlement. He recognised this female, but could not place her face. "They were under freeze when we were cut off from the 'Base," she explained, "Ten minutes to get them running hot again."
"We don't have that time. See what you can do to flush some heat into them. Ensign Bakaui, stop whatever you're doing and speak with me. I need you to tell me how to operate an external grappling unit. How many personnel do we have aboard?"
"Thirty one, including yourself, sir," an anonymous crewman told him.
Forty seconds later, with the USS Victory-C no more than one hundred metres from the far wall of the docking ring, a half dozen narrow black lines shot out from the beleaguered ship's underside. They flew, like the ink of pens etching their mark on a papyrus of scratched grey, in straight lines for the nearest protrusions behind the ship. Terrified Starbase personnel watched on from their portals as the giant Nebula class ship leered towards them. Having tumbled slightly on its axis, the ship was presenting most of the face of its saucer to the waiting wall - it wouldn't do the ship much good when the impact came.
No more than forty metres from the wall, the ship came to a crashing halt. It had been slowing in stages, pulled back periodically in jerking resistive motions, until eventually it was drained of all forward momentum. The firer of the grappling units attached to the Victory's underbelly had been fortunate that not all the lines had snapped; but he had the prematurely fired thrusters to thank for that one. The disbelieving 'Base personnel stared transfixed at the suddenly stationary shape of the Victory, its unmoving saucer section illuminated by the portal windows that they watched from, its own external lighting blinking on/off in calm periodic fashion.
Gheskori wiped his brow, which had suddenly become doused in sweat, and lifted his head from surface of the navigation console. Gradually, his adrenaline came down to something like normal, and once more he could speak, "Inform Assailant ops that the Victory has been brought under control." He frowned at the red flashing graphic on his console, "Oh look, we've destroyed the thruster ports." He lightly tapped at the display with timid curiosity.
The now-powered viewscreen flickered on, displaying the back of a well-known Starfleet Admiral. Magellan Lin turned around and, having revealed himself, nodded grimly. "The Victory is safe, Admiral," Ghes announced, standing haggard from his nav console. "But I do hope you get the tractor beams online soon. I don't think the grapple ropes are designed to endure this much tension, even if we are stationary."
<Tag Lin>
<Tag All - OOC: Remember, apart from me (for the moment), we are all on the Starbase, with our NPCs (if you wish) on the Victory, Thanks..>

Post by Tiana Galwyn Cet on Jan 10, 2010 16:12:01 GMT
Tiana was pacing nervously in some quiet corridor on Starbase Assailant. She was looking out one of the viewports at where the Victory hung silently from it's docking port it guave her a peaceful feeling inside. She had had four messages waiting for her when she had gotten back to quarters after giving Doctor Saryn and his family the tour. She had really enjoyed that, Savin especially had really kept her on her toes as he asked very insightful questions. It had made her smile and let her forget what was going on in her head and back home. Now she had to deal with those messages.
Her parents were glad that she was okay and that all charges had been dropped. That was a relief although Tiana wasn't sure how they had found out so quickly.
Havan had contacted her for the first time in nearly two years. Apparently, he was 'pleased she had finally been joined' and hoped she would visit him soon. Yeah, like that was going to happen. She loved her brother dearly but felt that she didn't know Havan Ren at all. At one time all three of the Galwyn siblings had wanted to be joined. Then Makal had died and Tiana's priorities had changed.
The Symbiosis Commission wanted Cet safely returned to Trill as soon as possible. So soon in fact that they were sending one of the few experts on the dejoining procedure (expert in that he had carried out the procedure three times and his patients had all lived). Spending more time in sickbay wasn't something Tiana was looking forward to. She was getting used to having Cet's memories in her head after all.
Lastly, starfleet was insisting that she attend counselling sessions. She wasn't sure where she was supposed to find that time for that. Not to mention the shear difficulty in articulating four centuries of memories. Tiana sighed, hoping to ignore these concerns for a moment or three more.
She leaned a hand on a wall and looked out at the stars. Then there was a thud and a crack from a wall panel and in seeming slow-motion an arc of electricity looped from the fracture access panel and into Tiana's out stretched hand. She screamed.
Her collapse semi-concious to the deck dragged her away from the panel before further damage could be done. Laying where she was and having too little control of her body to move Tiana watched as the Victory drifted gently free of her moorings. Tiana didn't know how much time had passed but eventually she saw thrusters firing and the ship coming under control.
Gradually she got to her feet, everything seemed to be okay, she would probably need to report to sickbay to be completely check out. But, she felt fine. Cet seemed good, in fact her connection seemed stronger than usual. Both of them made a very determined decision to stay on duty.
Tiana tapped her comm badge, hoping that internal comms were still functional, something had happened to Assailant and she had no idea how bad the damage was but she was sure there was damage.

"Acknowledged," Mallard replied, before gazing over at the young Vulcan at her side. "Umm sir? I've got guests here. You know that Vulcan family we picked up? From that ancient shuttlepod? One of the young ones is right here with me."
[tag]
"Do you want me to keep him here? He claims he's a doctor and that he can help."
Savin sighed and tapped his own combadge as he'd seen Danielle do. "This is Savin," he stated calmly, "my father is Saryn, assigned to this vessel as chief medical officer, insofar I am aware. I have a medical degree of my own and I learn fast. I can help sir."

Gheskori heard the call from Commander Galwyn just as he'd finished his ten minute talk with Admiral Lin, and he received the science officer's message with immense relief and pleasure that he could hear her voice. The thought that something might've happened to any of the crew during this 'accident' was enough to give Ghes ample cause for extreme worry.
"Good to hear from you, Commander. I'm on the Victory; having just staved off our own destruction, or at least, extensive damage." He heaved, standing from the chair. "Report. Where are you specifically Commander? What's your condition, are you close to the explosion's epicentre?"
<Tag Galwyn>
"Ok, have a look 'round, make sure everyone's alright... but for no longer than five minutes. After that I want you to go to Starbase Ops where Admiral Lin, some other brass, and myself will brief everybody on the situation."
<Tag Galwyn>
Let's hope everyone finds their way back together.. Ghes thought, again worried.
Being physically clear of the Starbase, the people on the Victory had no immediate means of leaving the ship, they could only beam out. It would take a while to get the ship completely back under control, so she could operate without the grapple lines that were linking her to several docking bay struts. Ghes had retired to 'his' ready room (temporarily at least) to look up the locations of his senior staff on board the Starbase, trying to glean from the internal sensor records of the 'Base everybody's last known location. He located one man straight away. He smiled, tapping his commbadge and having it routed through the station.
"Commander Matthew, this is Commander Gheskori.. I hope you're well over there. Commander, I know you must surely have started already, but if not I'd like you to start looking for evidence of what caused this explosion, and why it occurred just outside the vestibule to the Victory in particular. Gather your evidence, use whatever resources and methods you deem necessary; I'll contact you again in one hour."
<Tag Cmdr. Matthew>
Next he located Doctor Saryn, one of his eyebrows rising as he took note of the vulcan's location. The Doctor had been reported scampering across the docking ring, helping treat the injured who'd been left wounded by the chain of explosions across the bay (which were catalysed by the initial sizeable explosion near the Victory). In an instantaneous flash, Ghes ran the possibilities of the explosion's cause through his head. A system malfunction, bomb, some other form of sabotage? All were possible, and then there was of course the question of who?, if anybody? "Gheskori to Doctor Saryn, report," he said facing the screen, over his open 'badge. "I'm on the Victory, Doctor, I don't know if you've noticed that it's mercifully ground to a halt."
<Tag Saryn>
Gheskori once more returned to his search for his crew on the station; most were accounted for, and only one senior staff member was unaccounted for. Vin Wolf. None of the rescue parties had had any success in contacting him by commbadge, and he had not been seen since the explosion. Ghes tapped the edge of his desk, his lips pursed in concern.

With the Victory no longer an immediate threat to the station Magellan was able to finally breathe a sigh of relief. The Victory was back under her own power, the fires were out and the hospital was dealing with the injured. Thankfully as yet no fatalities had occurred but that was more by luck than anything else. Commander Vanetti the bases Chief of Security was only just back from secondment and he had already assigned her to the investigation. He would allow the Victory’s own staff to do the investigation on their end. With Gheskori still securing the Victory Magellan decided it would be best to get the ball rolling on this end. He turned to Zoilip, “Have all crew of the Victory paged and report to Conference Room C. We need to fill them in and find out what the hell happened.” The bolian nodded and made a note on his PaDD. “Will do. Lily is still running scans and I have the Copenhagen and Vanquisher running hot on a perimeter defence patrol. All shuttles and runabouts are on stand by.” “Thank you Zoilip.” Magellan replied as he exited Ops. So focused on the disaster he nearly ran into an officer coming the other way. “I m sorry” He muttered as he dodged to one side. “That’s okay Sir.” Magellan looked up as he recognised the voice. He looked up into a pair of silver eyes. “Commodore Cir’Kem” Magellan said in surprise to the Firont before him. “I knew you were returning to Section 47 but I didn’t expect you back so soon...In fact I may have just the job for you. Want to join me?”

S-B Assailant
Location: Holo deck 7
Holdeck program –( in harm way ) being used
Scene: USS Odysseus ; Bridge
Mission Date 6. 1715
The Odysseus was getting a pounding. She was being attacked by at least two unknown assailants.
"Evasive Maneuvers Pattern Omega- Three.” Captain Matthew shouted. The Shields came up just after a boarding party had boarded the ship. Lieutenant Commander Taren just stood from the bridge with the security chief they were heading to head up an assault force with marines to repel the ship from the boarding party.
Being lost in this Sagittarius Elliptical Galaxy was so far showing to be an unfriendly place.
Several more torpedoes smacked the side of the ODYSSEUS as she continued combat maneuvers.
"Incoming Torpedo!"
"Point Defenses, All PD Fire!" Captain Matthew said as he gripped his arm rests to prevent him from flying forward. Captain Matthew wanted to try something that didn't work in the command college and this was the perfect situation for it.
"Sir, they're preparing to fire another torpedo, Armor buckling on the port nacelle."
"Aft Tractor Beam prepare to lock on incoming torpedo, helm prepare for full emergency stop."
"What?" Asked the helmsman.
“Captain Matthew ignored the question. "Ready All Phasers, and Torpedoes."
"Weapons armed." Said Osamu's tactical replacement while the Security Chief was working down below with the XO.
"Helm… Full stop, engage tractor beam, Reverse polarity! Fire at will."
The Odysseus suddenly without warning pulled into a tactical stop abruptly, her point defenses firing with her main armament at an unknown attacker. The tractor beam grabbed a hold of the incoming torpedo. It then turned it around and tossed it back as if playing catch. It smacked into the second Unknown vessel sending the vessel off course and adrift in water.
The Odysseus torpedoes targeted the ship's original assailant.
On the planet below the government was in awe. The Planet's leadership was witnessing on sensor records the battle royal happening above them in the sky. Chief of Staff was seen running into Chairman Keel’s office.
"Someone is taking on TWO Rakar Warships!"
"What? Are you kidding?"
"No sir!" He tapped the Chairman's desk panel
Sure enough the planetary sensors were catching the battle. The vessel was of unfamiliar configuration and had markings that were completely unknown to them. But whoever they were they seriously were giving a spanking to two imperial ships.
Back on Odysseus sparks were starting to fly again but the shields had been restored to 50-60% operational status. "Bring us about. Charge the Canon. Target the flanking vessel. I'm going to knock him on his [word deleted]."
"Canon ready & locked on."
"Fire!"
The ODYSSEUS lanced out with devastating force. Her Large Canon let loose as if hell had come alive. Punched not one, not two but three spots in the enemy's defenses. The other one that was attacked by ODYSSEUS when she smacked the torpedo towards her way was limping away. She barely had time to enter into warp as the other unknown ship; her sister went up in flames as ODYSSEUS flew thru the debris.
Cheers erupted in the Chairman's office as they saw the visual sensor telemetry showing the destruction of an Imperial Warship and another badly beating a hasty retreat.
Back onboard the wounded vessel Captain William Fitzgerald Franklin took stock of his bridge. There still was intruders being handled by the First Officer, Security Chief and the marine battalion onboard. He needed to get to a planet just in case they needed to drop some off.
"Helm, take us back to the planet, full impulse. Medical team to the bridge." He said thru the intercom.
He retook his seat expecting any reinforcements to arrive from the unknowns.

"Good to hear from you, Commander. I'm on the Victory; having just staved off our own destruction, or at least, extensive damage." He heaved, standing from the chair. "Report. Where are you specifically Commander? What's your condition, are you close to the explosion's epicentre?"
"I'm on one of the observation levels, three decks up from where the Victory was moored. There was a few electrical shorts here but nothing too serious." Tiana deliberately left out that she had been electrocuted and had been almost unconcious. She felt fine now. She'd use her tricorder to check her vitals in a minute, she'd been doing that regularly since the joining anyway, she knew what to look for.
"Ok, have a look 'round, make sure everyone's alright... but for no longer than five minutes. After that I want you to go to Starbase Ops where Admiral Lin, some other brass, and myself will brief everybody on the situation."
"Okay, will see you there in a few minutes. I don't think I should have any trouble getting there."
Tiana broke the comm link and set off in the general direction of starbase ops. Although Assailant was a pretty crowded place she had come here specifically because it was quiet. She couldn't see any major signs of damage in her area so Tiana decided that she must have been even further from the blast than she had originally thought just some feedback through the power grid.
Tiana picked her way towards Ops pausing a minute to help a young technican with a burned out lock, whether this was related to the explosion Tiana didn't know and she didn't stop to ask. Her patience was noticeably brittle now, she sometimes simply wanted to solve a problem as efficiently as possible rather than getting every single answer. She had checked herself out and her isoboramine was a bit higher than average for her but still within normal limits. Nothing to worry about.
Tiana walked into Ops. She recognised Admiral Lin and noted that he was talking to a brownhaired woman who had her back to Tiana. She seemed familiar but from behind Tiana couldn't place her. She felt a touch nervous approaching the Admiral but not as nervous she might once have done. He looked up then, his conversation with the woman paused for the moment.
"I'm Commander Tiana Galwyn, the Victory's CScO, reporting in as fit and able for duty, sir." As Tiana spoke the woman turned and Tiana instantly recognised her, you don't forget your first Captain. "Commodore, Cir'Kem, good to see you again."

OOC: Back post to current by Gheskori (Taylor) and Saryn (Savin)
The voice on the other end, that Christina recognised to be of the officer Mallard, replied in an uncertain manner, as if unsure of what was to be done with.. whatever the problem was. "Acknowledged," Mallard said, "Umm sir? I've got guests here. You know that Vulcan family we picked up? From that ancient shuttlepod? One of the young ones is right here with me."
"Ok..." Taylor said, checking the info. panel to make sure nothing had changed, "What do you want to do about it?"
"Do you want me to keep him here? He claims he's a doctor and that he can help."
There was a pause before another voice spoke, this one more calm and controlled, "This is Savin; my father is Saryn, assigned to this vessel as chief medical officer, insofar I am aware. I have a medical degree of my own and I learn fast. I can help sir."
"Very well," she made her decision instantly. "Assist the medical staff with the injured, there should be some arriving soon from the adjacent corridor that 'isn't' under lockdown because of the breach. If you have any queries don't hesitate to contact again, but not in the next five minutes." Christina hoped that the Victory would still exist after the next five minutes.
"Yes ma'am," the young doctor replied, drawing up his robes to walk quicker. "I believe I can manage with the knowledge I have." He nodded politely to walk away, then tapped another nurse on the arm. "My name is Savin, please show me where I may start. Unless you wish for me to enter the corridor to help assess the wounded for triage?"
The male nurse turned, surprised by the touch on his arm. "Yes, do the latter," he said after taking in who this was talking to him. He dug around in a side drawer, dragging out a spare medical kit surprisingly not in use. "Take this. Stay away from the breach, we don't know how much power there is in that forcefield. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if it failed," he confided in the carefully listening vulcan. Thinking distrustfully of the ship's power levels and the engineers' ability to maintain them, he watched the vulcan leave.
An ensign-ranked doctor greeted Savin outside the sickbay's doors and halfway down the corridor. The reason for the Doctor's presence was apparent; behind him, three gold-collared personnel lay inert, two moderately burnt and the third fighting for his life. Looking at Savin, Doctor Part doubted how much the young vulcan could do.

USS Victory
An ensign-ranked doctor greeted Savin outside the sickbay's doors and halfway down the corridor. The reason for the Doctor's presence was apparent; behind him, three gold-collared personnel lay inert, two moderately burnt and the third fighting for his life. Looking at Savin, Doctor Part doubted how much the young vulcan could do.
Savin followed the Human doctor towards the injured threesome, kneeling beside the one that was appearing conscious. He reached into the kit and pulled out the grey-coloured tiny box he had learned was called a tricorder. Gently, he touched the officer's shoulder, while picking up the laser scalpel from the kit. "I am going to cut your uniform away," he told his patient, moving his hand to the man's forehead. "Just lay as still as possible, it will help me assess your injuries. I am a doctor, but you must know I know not how to operate this device."
The youth picked up a scanner from his pocket, one that was similar to a tricorder but from the time where he'd come from. He held the scanner over the patient's chest and abdomen once his uniform was cut away. He looked up. "I need cold compresses," he instructed the other doctor, as if he were in charge and not Doctor Part. "If anyone has quarters with a bathtub, tell them to fill it up with luke-warm water."
Savin injected his patient with a sedative, before moving to inspect the other two. One was beyond saving, but Savin was determined to relieve his suffering as much as was possible, even if the patient was of a species he'd never seen before. The man had blue skin and was completely bald, though it had an odd hue of blue as if he wasn't of a singular species but rather a mix of two.
The third man was still salvageable, but he was unconscious and severely burnt. With his limited knowledge, there wasn't much he could do for him. "Can we move them?" he asked, looking up at Park, while accepting the wet cloths someone he hadn't seen before handed him. "Sickbay would be the best place for them, save for him. Bathtub really is the best option to relieve the pain from his burns. Running water would even be better."
While talking, he felt his patient go still under him. "No!" he called out, checking the man's vitals. "No, do not die on me!" He reached for the medkit, rummaging around. "Syringe, I need a syringe!" A hypospray was handed to him, a vial loaded with adrenalin. The young Vulcan sighed, pressing the device against the skin over the patient's heart, hoping this would work. A needle would've worked better. He checked his scanner; nothing.
Caring little for the Vulcan no-touch policy, Savin leaned over him to apply mouth-to-mouth, forcing back a gag at the taste of blood. He pounded on the man's chest in the hope of getting his heart going again. After a few minutes, he felt himself being pulled away. He struggled, trying to get back but the hands holding him were firm.
"He's dead son," a kindly voice told him as he was forced to look up to a second doctor, "come, there are more to be treated. These you've stabilised as best as you can. Come with me son, just leave him." The newcomer apparently had learned the young Vulcan was deaf, and made sure he could be seen when he was spoken to.
Savin jerked himself free, tears burning in his eyes. ~Control~ he thought angrily ~control yourself. You are Vulcan.~ He rose to his feet after repacking his gear and moved on, closer to the explosion area, despite having been warned not to. "There are survivors here!" he called back, not knowing whether anyone replied. He rushed forward, eager to help those he could, and eager to ease the pain of losing his first actual patient.
Starbase
Saryn had gone with the many medics, learning on the go how to use a tricorder properly, and how to adjust it for the species he'd not seen before. He was now carefully picking his way among the debris, tagging patients for triage, while easing the pain of those that were beyond rescue.
He stopped when suddenly someone grabbed hold of his leg. Looking down, he saw a young woman trapped between the debris. A second, closer look told him that to remove the debris from her, was likely to be the death of her.
"Please help me," the woman begged of him, her face covered in blood and dirt, "get me out of here. Please!"
Saryn turned and knelt beside her, carefully taking her hand. "I cannot," he told her in earnest, "if I move that off you, pressure will be relieved on your injury and you will bleed to death. I will remain with you, until help comes. I will not leave you alone, you have my word. What is your name?"
"Renata Dash," the woman replied, her eyes wide with fear.
"My name is Saryn," the Vulcan replied, sitting cross legged beside her, while still holding her hand. "I am a doctor. How old are you Renata?" He knew he had to keep the girl talking, to keep her from panicking.
"Twenty-three," the girl replied, shivering slightly. "I'm so cold. I can't feel my legs. I can't feel anything from the waist down and breathing hurts so much. Please sir, get me out of here."
Saryn glanced sideways. Apart from the injury that would cost her her life if he did dig her out, she appeared unhurt. He shrugged out of his robe and covered her with it. "Better?" he asked. "Tell me Renata, what is your role here on the station? Tell me about yourself. Keep talking to me Renata, just keep talking. Keep your eyes on me Renata, keep looking at me. There is no need for you to be distressed about what is around you. Just keep your focus on me. Good girl Renata."
He kept encouraging her as she talked and talked, keeping her focus on him. "Are you from around here?" he asked when she fell silent. "I came from the past, I have a lot to learn you see. I am a doctor, but I am...ancient."
That drew a slight chuckle from her. "You're not ancient, you look young," she breathed, "you can't be more than thirty years old."
"I am well over sixty," Saryn replied, almost deadpan, "my son is your age. He is on the starship that was cut loose in the dock. But I thank you for the compliment."
He kept her talking until finally, exhaustion got to her and she lost consciousness. Even then, he still didn't let go of her hand, remaining with her, until others could come to help.

"I'll leave the bridge in your hands, Lieutenant," Ghes said to the female whose name he'd forgot again, as he returned from the ready room. Some officers of greater repute - or of greater rank in any case - had returned to the ship, but all of them were below-deck somewhere, helping out where they could and coordinating, mainly in engineering. Lieutenant... Taylor, was left on the bridge.
Receiving a nod from Taylor, Ghes began moving to the turbolift when a beep on the command chair's arm console caused him to divert and read the display. "Ah," he said, then announced, "Outer hull repairs complete." The man at tactical started working his display harder and Ghes looked over his shoulder. "Whose is the spare worker bee?"
"That's Commander Matthew's craft," the officer replied, "He's analysing the hull damage remnants, ascertaining what did all this, I suppose."
Gheskori acknowledged, tilting his head. He was pleased that the Ops chief had taken such initiative; it would be interesting to learn all he'd discovered.
Safe in its new mooring, the Victory was now firmly back within operating parameters. The warp core that had been powered up was now powered down again, but now with a 'quick start-up' program entered, ready to give the ship instant power should there be another incident. The ship's orientation had been corrected, too, although there was no vestibule to connect to the ship at this new mooring.
Gheskori beamed out from the transporter room into the command area of the Starbase. He stared at a situation panel for a while, joining half a dozen others who were likewise trying to figure out what'd happened. Luckily for Ghes, he was now the commander of a starship, and thus had people working these problems out for him. Not that he was lazy. Checking the chronometer, he saw that Commander Matthew's hour was nearly up.
Just enough time to greet this man then, he thought, watching a familiar green-uniformed fellow leaving the personnel office. This was the Victory's new Senior Marine Officer, Ghes recognised him from a personnel report sent to the Victory while on their way back from Jolmar. He stopped the man as he walked by.
"Major..." The man paused in his forward movement, glancing quickly at Ghes - who wondered if it was the flash of recognition he saw in the man's eyes. "Commander Gheskori, Acting Captain of the Victory," he introduced himself, "I believe you've just been assigned to us, Major." It was an odd thing to focus one's attention on in circumstances such as these, for just down the long concourse there was a collapsed bulkhead.
<Tag Trey Maverick>
"Excuse me a moment," Ghes said, stepping away from his new officer briefly. He tapped his commbadge, "Commander Matthew, this is Commander Gheskori. I think it's just about been an hour. What do you have for me so far?"
<Tag Cmdr. Matthew>
Ghes was glad he had some useful information to take to the briefing with Admiral Lin. Conference Room C... he looked around for the place where the Victory officers should be gathering. He hoped word had got out. Glancing at the green-dressed man nearby, he thought of initiations, "Major Maverick, accompany me," he said. And so they headed to the conference room.

“after reviewing the after battle report submitted by Captain Samm of the Odysseus as well as the Other Captains he reported his ship was hit by Torpedoes but Odysseus sensors never detected them even after the ship was hit several times “
“ I believe all of the damage ships where in a Kasar Cloak mine field that why they all sustained so much Damage I think one of theses cloak mine may have attach it self to the hull of the Victory But did not Explode before we enter warp at this time there no way to Determine if the Mine was Designed to Attach it self to Ships and then at a pre set time Explode I would hope it was just the Vibe ration from the Heavy repairs being Done .

Magellan had waited patiently for the Victory senior staff to arrive. They had filed in as and when each of them had completed their various task. Aside from the Victory senior staff there were several others present. Ambassador Saarok, Commander Vanetti the base CTSO, Commander Moore, Strategic Ops, Commander Zoilip and Commodore Cir'kem.
Magellan mused at the conincidence of the meeting both the Commodore had been former CO's of the USS Victory and Zoilip had been aboard as Assistant Tactical Officer. Matthews was the constant in all this. He had come aboard as a junior officer under Magellans command and had remained aboard under Riker, Walker, Drew, Cir'kem, Wong and now Acting Captain Gheskori.
He turned his attentions to the matter in hand.
"As you will know by now Commander Matthews investigations have revealed that the Victory was damaged by an act of sabotage. Sepecifically a Kasar Mine. I have engineers trying to reconstruct what they can but my Chief tells me not to hold my breath." he paused looking at the Vulcan diplomat "What we have here is a problem. A big one. My first contact with the Kasan-thar did not go well. Nor did our follow up mission on the Nevada. And by all accounts every encounter by the Victory with them indicates they are a very real threat.
Now we know the Kasan-thar worshipped the Crystalline Entity and refused to beleive it was dead after the Nevada let slip it was destroyed by the Enterprise. The recent problems seem to suggest that they may now believe or in the least some may and could be attempting some kind of vengenance. Ambassador"
Saarok gave a curt nod to the Admiral and rose straightening his robe as he did so. "Our knowledge of the Kasan-thar is limited. We know from the Tholians that they eat tholian young and are at present culling them extensively. This is what prompted the Colonial war between them and the Klingons. Whilst that seems to have reached a stalemate a ceasefire still has yet to be sealed.
I must stress the Presidents desire that the Federation remain out of the conflict and not dragged into any new conflict with the Kasar.
Intelleigence believes the Kasar operate a caste system. The Nevada encountered what maybe equal to a diplomat on their mission. And we think the Kasan-thar are there protectors both militarily and theologically. Other than that you probably know more than us."
"Colonel Wong has been sent to brief Starfleet Command." Magellan continued, "Gheskori will be acting Captain of the Victory. However myself and Commodore Cir'kem will be acting as advisors. This is a powder keg people and we need a solution. 1. We need to know - where the Kasan-thar responsible for the bomb. 2. How did they get the bomb on to the Victory or was it already on SBA? 3. Is this an act of war? 4. How do we respond? Speak freely as of now this is all of your top priority. Lets get some ideas going"

Magellan listened quietly to Matthews report. He was reassured that the Ops Chief was a reliable as he had ever been and was up to date with the latest intel.
"So you believe this was a cloaked mine James?"
Matthews nodded and pulled up onto the screen the relevant passage and analysis from an Intell briefing.
"If that is the case then I must add an additional note of caution. Have they always had Cloaking technology or have our neighbours been selling secrets. We know the Romulans supplied the THolians with cloaked vessels to aid in their clandestine colony project. Commander Galwyn whats your analysis. Is the cloak of Romulan of Klingon manufacture?"

Saryn glanced down at his patient when the call for a briefing came through. Though technically he wasn't part of the Starfleet crew, he knew through his assignment as chief medical officer, that he was expected to attend this briefing. Carefully, he climbed back to his feet, rearranging his dirty robes around him. "Take over," he ordered a nearby officer in teal, "keep monitoring him. Heart rate is stable but he should be telep- ah, transported to a medical facility as soon as possible. There may be more wounded, keep searching, I will return as soon as I can."
Dusted and blood-covered, and without time to change, the Vulcan doctor made his way into the briefingroom, making no apology for his appearance or his belated arrival. "Tholians?" he asked, "what of them?" He had, naturally, heard about them, and of course all he knew of them came from the logs as supplied by Captain Jonathan Archer of the Earth Ship Enterprise. Beyond that, he knew nothing of them, much less of Romulans or Klingons. Though, Romulans he had had dealings with, back on Miranda, not too long ago.
The Vulcan had to remind himself that for him 'not too long ago' meant centuries for his new crewmates. He took his seat and glanced around, expecting an answer, and a little more information. "Do we know who or what caused the explosion?" he asked, "and is the Victory safe?"

Lets get some ideas going" Tiana had not been told to speak freely by an admiral before and relished the feeling. She was obviously still suffering some sort of effect from the electric shock she had received as she was not the first to air her theory.
Commander Galwyn what's your analysis. Is the cloak of Romulan of Klingon manufacture?"
Tiana looked a screen of data from the sensors of the starfleet taskforce. She took a moment to close her eyes and let her memories drift. She was not a particular expert on cloaking technology, at least she hadn't been, Ellana Cet had been an intelligence operative when Romulan cloaks had first been encountered by the Federation and Keran Cet had been an operative for the Trill Defence Force who had made somewhat of a hobby of cloaking devices...
There was a moment when Tiana nearly forgot who she was lost in whirl of a hundred and thirty years of memories not her own, or rather not exactly her own. Tiana knew she would find it incredibly hard to voluntarily give this up even with out the medical risks. She took a deep breath, her awareness suddenly back on starbase assailant. She was unsure how long she had been gone and hoped no one had noticed.
Fortunately it seemed the arrival of Saryn had distracted everyone from her zone-out.
Tholians?" he asked, "what of them?" He took his seat and glanced around, expecting an answer, and a little more information. "Do we know who or what caused the explosion?" he asked, "and is the Victory safe?"
Tiana spoke quickly giving the Vulcan an answer. "We think it was a cloaked explosive."
She looked at the data again. "I would say the technology is neither Klingon nor Romulan. It is clearly based on that technology though." Tiana's voice had taken on an unfamilar cadence as she spoke but she failed to notice. "I do not doubt that the Kasan have cloaking technology. I would say it's a divergence from the standard Klingon design."
She paused a moment. "my best guess is that it's based on a mixture of salvage and reverse engineering most likely from a Tholian ship rather than Klingon or Romulan though."
Her eyes skimmed over the station's records from the explosion. Cet's memories skimmed back through images from past explosions that sent a shiver through Tiana. It was so hard to keep on top of all the memories. If circumstances weren't quite so dire she might ask the admiral for advice on dealing with them, but for now she had to focus.
"I'm not sure how the mine came to be where it was. Off the top of my head I can think of maybe half a dozen ways to get an explosive there but without further information I can't narrow it down. I think the question we need to look at is the detonation mechanism. If it was proximity or a simply timer then it doesn't get us much further. However both of those run the risk of triggering in a useless area, it seems far more sensible for it to be remote triggered by someone close enough to monitor the explosive's location relative to Assailant and Victory"

Galwyns assessment of the situation seemed tomake sense. The Kasan Thar had been predating the Tholians heavily in the past few months and it seemed reasonable that they had managed to gain cloaking technology from a captured or damaged ship. He wished that Ambassador Lovine was well enough to answer questions on behalf of his government, but he had yet to have recovered from his poisoning.
"Commander" Magellan said looking at the fellow Trill, "I can only concur with your analysis, it throws up a disturbing fact. We have either a Kasar spy aboard Assailant or Victory or at the very least a collaborator. Some one had to be around to detonate the bomb or at least see that it worked. That person must still be here, the base has been locked down tight since the incident."
He pasued to gather his thoughts,
"Commander Galwyn I want you to continue your analysis of the explosives, see what forensic information you can collate. You have my backing to use the full resources of this starbase. Commander Gheskori I want you and Commander Matthews to investigate the Victory Crew, Mr Maverick as SMO I want you to liase with Base Security to identify links between crew of the Victory and those currently on Assailant. Lets wrap this up neatly. Report to me regularly. Dismissed"
As the assembled officers began to file out Magellan held up a hand to halt the Vulcan, "Mr Saryn could I have a word?" The Vulcan halted dutifully. Magellan waited for the last to leave and for the doors to close.
"I would like to welcome you Saryn and your family to this Timeframe. I understand the Victory picked you up and that you previously served on the Challenger?"

"There is a standard protocol for such changes between timeframes. We tend to try and return people to their natural timeframe but... I am afraid that is not possible at the moment, nor is it likely for the near future. I m sorry if that is disturbing."
TAG Saryn
"Normally Temporal Investigations would interview you and your family and intergate you into our society. Sadly they are too busy. A major temporal incursion has occured near Bolarus IX and that has them rather busy. That means it leaves us and the crew of the Victory to assimilate you into our way of life."
TAG Saryn
"I need you to consider what you role will be and what you want to do. Unfortunatly for the time being you are restricted to the base and or the Victory if you have quarters there. At least until you can be fully debrifed. Is that understood?"

Saryn had listened to the remainder of the briefing with interest, but had offered very little by way of his own views or advice. Not because he had none, but because he couldn't place them in perspective. He didn't know what was going on, and the terms used were too futuristic for him to grasp on the first try. He would need time to settle here, time and patience. As a Vulcan, he did have sufficient of both.
In the end, he too rose to his feet; he was anxious to get back to the damaged area, to continue offering his expertise as doctor.
Now connecting the spotted facial features to that of a species called Trill, Saryn understood this man belonged to that species, and also understood that he was a flag officer with a widely known reputation. "Thank you admiral," he replied dutifully, "I did serve on NX Challenger. First as temporary commanding officer, then briefly as tactical officer and finally as chief medical officer. I was on my way to Vulcan, from Earth, with my family, when an anomaly absorbed us and we re-emerged here, on Victory's bow."
"There is a standard protocol for such changes between timeframes. We tend to try and return people to their natural timeframe but... I am afraid that is not possible at the moment, nor is it likely for the near future. I m sorry if that is disturbing."
The Vulcan inclined his head slightly. "I understand sir," he acknowledged, "we have already seen too much of the future, to be allowed to return to our own time. My family and I have already accepted that we shall live out the remainder of our lives in this century, and have begun studying recent events to fully intergrate into this time. No apology is necessary sir, as this is of no fault of yours, or ours." He could see the admiral wasn't done speaking, so he waited patiently for the Trill to continue.
"Normally Temporal Investigations would interview you and your family and intergate you into our society. Sadly they are too busy. A major temporal incursion has occured near Bolarus IX and that has them rather busy. That means it leaves us and the crew of the Victory to assimilate you into our way of life."
"We understand," Saryn repeated patiently, "as I said, we already have begun to study recent history. My oldest son and I have been helping out in the medical bay, brushing up on modern technology. There is still much to learn for all of us."
"I need you to consider what you role will be and what you want to do. Unfortunatly for the time being you are restricted to the base and or the Victory if you have quarters there. At least until you can be fully debriefed. Is that understood?"
This time, Saryn frowned. "My mate would like to return to Vulcan with our youngest son, while our oldest son and our adopted daughter remain with me, here on the Victory. With recent events in mind, we wish to remain here and provide medical assistance. Savin and I are both licensed doctors, though Savin still requires specialisation. He has his medical degree and is still young. He would learn faster than I, despite our being Vulcan."
Saryn paused. "Much seems to be expected from us, because we are Vulcan. I do not know if we can live up to expectations but you have our word that we will try. I realise we are out of our time, and we will need time to adjust, but it will not put us off. We are doctors, and in a crisis, we are obliged to assist. Currently, my son is aboard the Victory, and I have not heard from him since the explosion. No-one informed me of the status of the vessel before this briefing, and I still do not know if my family is all right."
Again he paused, looking none to pleased despite being fully composed. "I understand the restriction and the necessity of it, but I cannot agree to it. If my mate wishes to return to Vulcan, she should be allowed to do so. I have no doubt someone on Vulcan would be willing to help them intergrate into modern society. Vulcans are quite adaptable."
[Magellan]
"May I return to the explosion site? I have patients to take care of."
