[Ready Room: 48 hours after launch]
Captain's Log Stardate 99.0930: The El Salvador-C has completed the first stage of shakedown tests. Both Impulse and Warp engines have proven mission-ready; Commander Gaz navigated the test course with his usual skill and has been satisfied with the ship's responsiveness thus far. As expected, the larger power curve produced by the El Salvador-B's Prometheus class Warp Core required careful balancing, but Jamey's anticipation of that issue during construction ensured that more than sufficient buffering and containment components have been implemented and should allow us to utilize the power surplus without exposing the ship to additional risk.
Dr. Chavet has also initiated medical drills to gauge response time which have been random and unannounced to likewise evaluate emotional responses amidst crises. We are proceeding at Warp 1.5 to an asteroid field outside the solar system to begin test-firing of our weapons systems, sensors, and additional testing of our navigational deflectors within a higher concentration of particulate debris such as the field will provide.

Nayomi was extremely pleased with the results of the ship's medicals drills. There where a few minor hiccups including when one of the volunteer casualties failed to mention the ruse to his husband, resulting in the distraught spouse being admitted to sickbay for a panic attack. A few short comings where discovered and sorted out and Nayomi was able to put to use some of the excess med kits cluttering her quarters when useful homes where discovered for them elsewhere
Sickbay was now fully operational and her team was interacting well. Nayomi her self had discovered a new holo-activity, playing badminton against the rest of the medical staff. So far she was doing rather well in their pool.
She was now on her way to meet with Counselor Hannah Jackson to discuss the drills results and was looking forward to meeting professionally with the women who she was sure to be working closely with in upcoming missions.
Nayomi approaching Hannah's door and pressed the chime, waiting for permission to enter.

Every single department on the ship was occupied with drills of some kind, engineers were doing damage control even the Medical department was busy running drills.
All departments except of course Counselling, Hannah sat behind her desk looking at her empty desk. The door chime sounded and Hannah looked around slightly panicked. "Crap.. inspection." she mumbled. opening her drawer she plucked out a blank padd sat up straight and pretended to look deeply engrossed in some form of report.
"Enter."
She waited a moment before prying her eyes away from the report, seeing the doctor she exhaled and said. "Oh it is you, I thought maybe it was an inspection team."
She smiled as she said. "What can I do for you Doctor unless you are here to inspect me in which case I am super super busy hard at work and you can feel free to report that to whoever?"

Stardate: 99.1002 Personal Log. I canna b'lieve tha im here again. Th El Salvador...but she be a different ship now. I knew...dinnae know wha i was expectin...shes beautiful. Just nae th beautiful i was hopin...was wantin. Makes nae a damn bit o sense t wan' t cry at th reality...nae a thing is th same as in dreams. A' th same time tis wonderful...means i still can feel. ....silence.... First Officer...again. An this time i dinnae ken wha ill find. Will he e'en recognize me. I amnae th Doctor...th Capn...th person i used t be. All th shite...so much has passed. But by th rood...im so glad t be here. Wonder iffen Alfred is still round. ~the sound of a breath being taken, shoulders squared, game face put on~ One way t be findin out aye? God hates a coward.
*Her face is easy enough to recognize save for a rather long wavery scar along the left side of her jaw...but thats about all. Hair dark and rather spikey rather than her natural browny auburn. Trim as always in the tightness of the starfleet uniform with red accents...shes got to recieve her pips straight from The Man Himself. The shuttle looks so damn tiny against the size of the El Salvador...the new El Salvador. Beautiful...just in a different way. A chirp is heard as the shuttle transmits, announcing her arrival*

[Main Bridge]
Savot was re-entering the Bridge from the Captain's Ready Room after updating his Log entries with the latest shakedown results. Given the amount of hype and red-tape that goes with the completion, supplying, and launch of a new starship it was understandable that a Personnel notification could have fallen through the cracks and not been forwarded to the El Salvador before a new crewmember arrived.
However, if there was any crew assignment Savot would have preferred not take him by surprise... it was this one. =/\=Shuttlecraft 667 on approach, Commander Deis Irae requestin permission t dock, El Salvador=/\=
Savot stopped his stride before reaching the center seat, turning silently to face the main viewscreen, wordlessly grateful that the ensign at Ops instinctively put the approaching shuttle on screen without his having ordered it. Still, despite the unique dramatic quality of the situation for Savot on a personal note, he was still a vulcan, and there was but one logical response to the communication. Savot finished traversing the distance to his chair and activated a console control on its arm, speaking with a clear voice that was neither warm nor cold in its tone, =^=El Salvador responding: your authorization codes have been verified; you are cleared for landing in Main Shuttlebay. Bridge out.=^=
The vulcan captain turned to a nearby Lieutenant, one of those who'd survived El Salvador-B's loss and kept his cool during the aftermath before they were rescued, "Lieutenant Tamarov, I'm going to meet the shuttlecraft; you have the bridge until either myself or Commander Gaz return."
Alexi Tamarov nodded wordlessly as Savot entered the turbolift to the traditional whooshing sounds of the doors. "Main Shuttlebay", he spoke and continued as the lift worked its way through the Excalibur-class vessel towards its ordered destination, "Computer, Inquiry: has Starfleet Commander Deis Irae been assigned to this ship and if so at what position?"
The long-serving female voice of the ship's computer replied with little delay, =^=Starfleet Commander Deis Irae re-assignment to El Salvador-C confirmed, position: First Officer.=^=
Savot blinked and his right eyebrow arched drastically before his countenance resumed its normal stature upon the turbolift's arrival. He walked the brief distance to the Main Shuttlebay and the doors opened to reveal to him the landing shuttle, its pilot having needed little time to perform the landing approach. Savot pulled a spare padd off a slot on the wall and accessed the El Salvador's room assignments lists, locating and assigning a room on the same deck as the other senior staff for their new First Officer.
By the time he was done, the shuttle had landed softly after rotating in mid-air so the rear hatch was facing Savot. The captain awaited the exit of the woman whose name, at one time, was synonymous with the El Salvador-B. A different ship's deck awaited her footsteps now and Savot experienced a pang of guilt that he swiftly dismissed as he regretted not having kept Irae's former command safe.

*A wedge heeled boot hits the deck as the smallish woman passes out of the shuttlecraft and onto the new El Salvador deck proper. She saw him through the screen...no time like the present. She looks so damn different than the smiley Doctor, and then later the more serious but still fine humored First Officer and Captain. She walks straight over to him, duffle over her shoulder, looking all around this shuttle bay, a little tree in a pot held in her free arm...Ealanor*
Savot stood clad in his captain's uniform, the jacket being a recent variation adopted by the Starfleet Uniform Code, with his arms behind him hands clasped at the small of his back as was his customary posture. He was indeed surprised at his initial sight of Irae, not only her obvious change in hair style and color, but the very way she carried herself and her facial expression were quite different. Without even knowing what they were, Savot regretted the travails that had weighed on the spirit of the young woman who years before had arrived on the last El Salvador fresh from graduation to be the ship's Doctor.
The thing that eased his concern somewhat was Deis' bonsai tree still in her possession. Not everything from her past had been abandoned by desire or necessity, and Savot found that at least comforting. He extended a hand in traditional vulcan greeting, holding the padd in his other, "Welcome aboard the El Salvador-C, Commander Irae... I regret the vessel is not what it once was."
*Deis looks at the man and there comes on her face something that resembles a smile, but it shows more at the corners of the eyes than on her mouth. She thought that it would hurt...that she would be beyond nervous...but she feels a curious calm instead. And there is gladness somewhere down in her hardened heart. She lifts up her right hand and returns the vulcan greeting as though she had actually practiced it.* Thank ye Sir. Good t be back. *there is something in her face when he speaks of the old vessel being gone with a new one in its place* My da always said "Iffen things stayed th same...wha be th use o breathin?" Shes beautiful Savot...truely. um...Capn...i mean. *holy hell she is terrible at this, but at least her heart isnt hammering as hard as it was. To the Captain she would indeed look different. Hair stained an inky black and very short, a certain stone quality to the tightness of her eyes, almost an ancient gunslinger sort of look. A jagged but faint scar that draws itsself along the left side of her jaw, just at the edge...an old wound that didnt have as professional a healing as it should have. Which says much being as she IS a fully qualified doctor. But theres not much one can do with no tools and only pressure bandages for first aid* So...4 years...ye look good, Sir. Thanks fer acceptin me service aye?
Savot's own features soften ever so slight as Deis mentions her father's addage, though likely only someone who'd known him as long as she or Delbridge had would've noticed it. Though the notion had faded with time as his captaincy had been more cemented, when he first inherited command from Irae he felt as if he was merely keeping the ship together until her return. And now that it was absolutely impossible to return that vessel to her in any manner he had anticipated possible anger from Irae. While there would certainly be some feeling over the ship's loss, it was clear from her response that it would not color their immediate interactions and that was a relief in itself.
Savot dipped his head in grateful acceptance of her compliment regarding the ship's appearance, "I, too, find the ship quite aesthetically pleasing. Though I cannot accept responsibility for the accomplishment as the hull itself was established before it was slated to become the new El Salvador. And you needn't apologize for addressing me by name when ship's etiquette allows for it... Deis."
Another bow of his head, responding to her last words, and he spoke as he handed her the datapadd he carried containing the location of her personal quarters, and the Executive Officer's working office when not on bridge duty, "Thank you, Commander. You appear well yourself; I presume you have come to value your facial scar given the capability of dermal regenerators to restore the flesh. Whatever the case, I am pleased the wound did not prove fatal. While I was not personally aware of your reassignment here, had I known I would certainly have accepted your transfer."
So they just sprang me upon ye Sir...right bad boys that. Well then...lets hope th suprise wasnt too unpleasant a one. *she took the padd and looked it over, murmuring almost to herself* this'll take some gettin used to an nae a mistake... *then as we start to walk out of the shuttle craft, right before the doors close behind us, she would say with a rather sudden, bright and shining smile...uncharacteristic of her these days...but she saw something that she had missed* An theres me baby...Mini-Sal made it... *seeing her favorite piece of flying hardware, the shuttle that she always considered hers regardless of Starfleet regulation*

"What can I do for you Doctor unless you are here to inspect me in which case I am super super busy hard at work and you can feel free to report that to whoever?" Nayomi smiled. "Not at all counsellor. I have pretty much wrapped up all my little games, but that is what I came to speak with you about." she took a seat. "I wanted to discuss your impressions of the crew during my emergency response drills. For some it seemed to be an emotionally charged experience. Poor Ensign Sako's husband was quite a wreck, I had to administer him a sedative. I understand you are bound my patient confidentiality, but do you think over all that everyone handled the drills well, or should we be addressing any issues?" <Tag Hannah> "I agree, yes. That put aside then I also would like to bring up the fact that I have yet to see you for a physical. We have all been very busy, so I understand your delay, but my goal is to see everyone on board before any real action begins." Nayomi gave a cheeky grin. "I can return the favour if you like counsellor." <Tag Hannah> Before Nayomi had a chance to reply her comm badge beeped and the klaxons began to sound. The room was soon flooded with red flashing light. =A= Bridge to Dr Chavet, we are experience a Theta radiation leak in levels 25 through 27, and it is spreading. We have begun evacuations.=A= "More drills?" Hannah asked. "Nothing I authorized. Deck 26 is where the radiation scrubbers are located, hazardous material storage, recycling... why are the scrubbers not doing their job? Engineering tested those systems shortly after departure." Nayomi stood and headed for the door. "I am going to marshall my team and start gathering the inoculations. You had best be prepared counsellor, Theta radiation causes fatigue, hallucinations and nausea."

[Main Bridge: Minutes prior to Chavet's post]
Savot returned to the bridge with a whoosh of turbolift doors after welcoming his unexpected but not unwelcome former and new First Officer aboard. The confirmed arrival of a transfer officer as well as the imminent commencement of the next phase of Shakedown Cruise tests were reason aplenty for Savot to go ahead and attend to another test in the process: that of the ship's long range communications system and its ability to successfully interface with Federation comm buoys.
For the first phase of the shakedown the El Salvador had been in close enough proximity to the observatory at the Mars shipyards to use short-range hails to report their progress, but from this distance they needed to yell a bit louder to be heard. "Open a channel to the relay, Mr. Tamarov", Savot instructed.
Upon confirmation that the link had been established he began his report, =^=El Salvador to Utopia Planitia; Phase 1 of testing is complete. We're now proceeding with Phase 2. Computer; include confirmation of Commander Deis Irae's reporting aboard as First Officer. Transmit when ready.=^=
=^=Unable to comply=^=, droned the computer's unexpected reply. At that moment, alerts rang throughout the ship, the computer's bio-linear enhanced processors anticipating Savot's question before he had time to give voice to it. =^=Theta Radiation detected on levels 25 through 27. Cause unknown.=^=
Savot tapped his commbadge, =^=Savot to Irae; rendezvous with Chief Medical Officer Chavet; confirm the radiation alert and if confirmed begin treatment protocols. Until we confirm the reports we must assume they're accurate therefore have your investigation team equipped for HazMat. I'm contacting Engineering now to get their assessment; Savot out.=^=
As good as his word, the vulcan captain did just that, =^=Bridge to Engineering: status report.=^=
********************************************** [Engineering]
Delbridge answered the captain's call even as he called for a medical team, =^=Unknown captain... we just had a security forcefield malfunction that struck Ensign Yutaro pretty bad. I'm running a diagnostic on the internal sensors to try and confirm the radiation report and find out where it's coming from if it's real. I'll let you know as soon as I know.=^=
*************************************************** [Main Bridge]
Savot's old friend signed off and got to work and the vulcan did the same, "Lieutenant Tamarov, we must assume for the moment that our communications difficulties will persist and as such we're unable to alert anyone of our distress. Take a warp-capable shuttle and make best speed back to Mars to apprise them of our status."
There was a mathematical possibility that the radiation warning was false, but there was no reason not to take every measure available to them to maximize their chances. Savot instructed the Gorn security officer next, "Mr. Zakryn, do all you can to keep the sensors functioning. Any passing vessels noticing our condition may risk attacking us."

*She wonders if it isnt some sort of Karma swinging full circle and biting her right in the nether regions. Shes only been onboard for a couple of hours after all. Shes had enough time to put away her few things, water her bonsai tree and place it under a solar lamp, have a shower and change into a fresh uniform with pips, commbadge, the whole nine. So at least shes dressed when things go all pear shaped. Even in quarters, of course, the alert goes out*
*Bleeding Christ...so quickly. She hasnt even met the rest of the crew yet...well...no time like the present is there?* =/\=Aye Cap'n, enroute now.=/\= *She heads out of her quarters and quickly realizes that she has no idea where sickbay is located on this new version of her old home. She has to quickly consult one of the directory panels and then take off running for turbolifts, through corridors, eventually arriving where she is supposed to be.* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To Chief Medical Officer Chavet:
*The woman that walks into your area is rather on the small and petite side, dark of hair, very serious of face. Yet she projects command as though shes done it for years, which in fact she has. You may have heard of Commander Deis Irae, or maybe not...for several years she was something like a ghost...here and blazing, and then gone into the depths of space. One cannot even find a complete, unannotated, version of her service record, which can be quite suggestive on its own. As a Doctor you would have taken classes where she was mentioned for using advanced and slightly crazy techniques of viral genetic recombination to clear full ships of massive infection. The descriptions of her would have made her out to be something of a space cowboy with a hypospray. There is no time for polite introductions and such so she simply lays it out for you, shaking your hand as quickly as possible* Doctor. I be Commander Irae, newly installed First Officer. Cap'n ordered me presence here so tha we can be gettin this radiation checked out. Keep it from spreadin...get treatment t any an all affected. How may i be o service t ye wi this?

Nayomi had dispatched a team of medics to engineering to deal with the injured crew member, hypo-sprays in hand to prevent any radiation poisoning. The few reports she had come in concerned her, although the inoculations were working, the effects were far from permanent. Engineering needed to put a stop to this fast, or she was going to run dry. She send nurse Cutler to her quarters for the additional hypos that had been sent over in error. Someone back on Mars had made a mistake that may very well save the crew. In the meantime she was looking through the medical database. She remembered hearing about a doctor on a deep space mission thinning out his radiation inoculations to drag out the rationing, but she could not remember who, what ship or what they used. Suddenly her console screen faded and died. "[word deleted]!" she yelled, following it up by a few more choice expletives just in time for her office door to slide open and a small, wiry, dark haired women to enter. Nayomi recognized her, but could not recall where from. Either way, she had been caught red handed, or rather re-mouthed by someone who clearly out-ranked her. Doctor. I be Commander Irae, newly installed First Officer. Cap'n ordered me presence here so tha we can be gettin this radiation checked out. Keep it from spreadin...get treatment t any an all affected. How may i be o service t ye wi this? O great, first thing the First Officer hears me say is something that would make Grandma blush, and she's a former doctor at that Nayomi thought. Now she knew why this Commander Irae was so familiar, she was a bit of a legend back at the academy. She had a thick accent Nayomi did not expect, but then again that is not something that comes up in the lecture hall. "My team has been dispatched to all corners of the ship keeping the radiation poisoning at bay, but I am afraid the problem may be more serious then we thought." Nayomi took a deep breath. "Maybe I am over-reacting, but my console just died and they inspected it only this morning and it was fine then. The bio-linear chips, they may be affected. I need to meet with Commander Jaz and Ensign Yutaro. I was already feeling the pinch, but if we need to start inoculating the ship as well as the crew, then we really are in trouble. Do you have any experience with bio-linear chips Commander?" <Tag Deis>

*The First Officer supresses a smile at the profanity so well that a vulcan would be proud. She makes no mention of it, and would almost seem to not have heard it at all save for the faint glitter in her eyes, the small crinkling at the corners...as if she wanted to laugh. Good Lord if only this woman could have heard her a year or two ago. Throwing down a layer of swearing that impressed pirates and made one Klingon spew his drink across a table. Good times.*
*Moving right along she listens to the Doctors report* More serious in wha way, Doc? *blinking and lifting a brow and looking over at the broken console and scowls a little. She never was all that good with engineering and technology in general at least where it did not coincide with medicine. She hates to look unknowledgable but she has to admit it* Sorry t say Doc...i dinnae shite about bio-linear chips. They be a bit on th new an cuttin edge side. But...bio means biological. Radiation will affect that, aye. If these chips be widespread in this new El Salvador p'raps ye would do well t use a thin diffusion through th tubes. Vapor. Get a bit o th inoculation through th systems...may nae be enough t stop it cold...but couldnae hurt.
As fer th rest...lets split up. One o us can work on th crew an affected...th other can work on th ships innoculation.

[Approximately 15 minutes later: Main Bridge]
Lieutenant Tamarov made good time to the shuttlebay and had the forethought to check back in with the bridge before depressurizing the bay to see if any new data had come in to alter Savot's initial orders.
As a matter of fact, Delbridge had just recently finished updating Savot that Engineering had confirmed there was a seemingly random string of malfunctions happening across unrelated ship systems. That and the fact that all these systems had just recently been quintuple-checked and calibrated prior to the ship's debut launch... that translated to computer virus. Under the current circumstances they couldn't confirm whether or not their brief linkup with the communications buoy off the El Salvador's starboard bow was the culprit, but the timing was incredibly convenient if it was a coincidence.
Exactly if and how the malfunctions were connected with the radiation leakage had yet to be determined, but as Delbridge couldn't find any discernible pattern to the malfunctions that had hit so far, the safest bet was to be ready for any system to short out at any moment. Which led us back to Lieutenant Tamarov who, upon hearing the situation laid out, replied to Savot over the intercom, =^=Captain I'm reading containment field failure here in the shuttle bay. I can still launch by opening the bay doors from inside the shuttle but without containment fields there'll be explosive decompression.=^=
Savot nodded as he keyed the captain's chair to reply, his confidence in his crew heightened by Tamarov arriving at the same conclusion, =^=And if the ship's navigational systems are the next to suffer a malfunction we would be unable to counter even the slight inertia which at our current orientation would propel us slowly but surely into the asteroid field we came here to conduct weapons tests upon.=^=
Gaz was prepared with a ready solution to 2 of the problems facing the ship. He proposed taking a shuttle out as well from the shuttlebay on the opposite side of the ship from Mr. Tamarov. If they decompressed simultaneously the equal forces pushing from both sides should hold the ship in place instead of push it forward. Additionally, after Tamarov warped back to Mars, Gaz could remain on station outside the ship as an early-warning system since the shuttle sensors should be free of malfunction. Thus far, there was no reason to suspect that the shuttlecraft were infected with the computer virus that was troubling the starship, and if the pilots conducted remote opening of the bay doors manually instead of linking the shuttle cockpit computers to the El Salvador's as was standard operating procedure: that should prevent any chance of the virus getting transmitted into the shuttles.
The vulcan captain concurred with Jamey's rationale and authorized it, "Very good Mr. Gaz, contact Mr. Tamarov when you've reached the other shuttlebay and when you're both prepped for launch signal the bridge and I'll apprise you of any new developments before takeoff."
Jamey left the bridge to enact his plan and Savot commed Counselor Jackson and asked her to gather what few cadets they had aboard and non-essential personnel and run through the preparations for evacuation via shuttles and escape pods just in case. Fortunately for the shakedown the new El Salvador hadn't fully assumed her new role as a mobile Academy and as such had very few students aboard at the moment. But if worse came to worse Savot wanted to be ready to evac everyone but the medical and engineering teams if they were confident they could save the ship. Otherwise everyone would evacuate. Of course it would haunt Savot to lose another El Salvador on her very first mission, but he wouldn't risk lives needlessly if there was nothing to be gained from the risk.
Savot walked forward and assumed the Operations console Tamarov had vacated and dedicated his efforts for the moment towards identifying, analyzing, and defeating the virus in question. Working from the hypothesis that they had indeed become infected with it after linking with the communications buoy, Savot worked to access the primary and backup communications logs. He had to be cautious; however, or risk spreading the computer contaminant even faster. So rather than go directly to the comm-logs Savot instead created a 'roped off' section of computer space into which he pasted a duplication of the logs. That way he could look at the data embedded in the logs without giving the virus the chance to backtrack along Savot's computer pathways and infect other chunks of code.
Mentally activating his internal stopwatch Savot would dedicate 10 minutes to setting up his quarantined computer code 'laboratory', then check in with Commander Irae if he hadn't already heard from her or Doctor Chavet before then.
(By now a med team would be getting Ensign Yutaro to sickbay, and since I haven't heard from him I'm working under the assumption he won't be continuing with us, so if someone feels like having more to include in a post they can treat him for wounds consistent with running into a forcefield basically, only the malfunctions caused a forcefield to smack into him instead. He can be stabilized, but remain unconscious to keep things simpler. Anyone wishing to interact with Engineering please feel free and I'll reply via Lt. Commander Delbridge)

"Given my experience with bi-linear tech I will deal with the staff in engineering and the ship." Nayomi replied. "Grae, Tim and Ykatzu, treat yourselves and then help Commander Iris with the rest of the crew. I don't need you starting to hallucinate. Report your progress back to me on the hour and make sure no one gets dosed twice, we don't have much to go around."
Nayomi took a kits full of inoculations and headed to engineering along with two of her staff. She hopped to be able to talk with Yutaro while inoculating her staff. As she ran through the calculations in her head she realized that even with the additional inoculations in her quarters, they could only last approximately 11 hours before they ran out. If the ship had regular chips they would last significantly longer, clearly she would have to factor the ship's medical needs in next time she made another supplies order. If she ever made another supplies order.
Engineering was a hive of activity, Nayomi dispatched her staff to shoot up the frantic crew members while she hunted down Yutaru. She found him near the reactor and headed his way. The Ensign looked up and moved toward her when there was a burst of light and he dropped to the floor.
"Yutaru!" she yelled, un-shouldered her kit and knelt beside him. He had burns all across the front of his bodies, consistent with having a force field activated right through him, although the field was already gone. He needed immediate medical attention and was currently unconscious =A= Two to beam directly to sickbay=A=
=A= unable to comply=A=
"Damn!" Nayomi cursed, "Crewman!" she yelled over to a large Bolian engineer. "I need you to help me get him to sickbay. Can you carry him?" he nodded and picked up the Ensign.
=A= Doctor to the bridge, Ensign Yutaru has been injured. We have force fields activating on the ship without command and he's been hit. I am taking him to sickbay on foot."

=^= Doctor to the bridge, Ensign Yutaru has been injured. We have force fields activating on the ship without command and he's been hit. I am taking him to sickbay on foot.=^=
Savot heard the Doctor's report as he worked at Ops. In the middle of his diagnostic he immediately began attempting a new series of commands if the computers would cooperate long enough, =^=Acknowledged Doctor. I've dispatched security personnel throughout the ship to assist your teams with carrying injured and manually opening any hatches the malfunctions have sealed. I am initiating Evacuation Protocol which should prevent any security fields from activating if the coding of the Protocol manages to supersede whatever programming faults are in the system.=^=
=^=My working theory is that our contact with the nearby communications buoy exposed us to a computer virus which began its work by triggering the Theta Radiation leak. I'm attempting to counteract the virus itself, for which I'll need the computers functioning as best they can under the current circumstances. I'm sure you've already considered the bio-linear chips; divert what resources you can to them without sacrificing lives of the crew, I shall trust in your judgement Bridge out.=^=

Even as Doctor Chavet was finishing her report to the captain about carrying patients to sickbay, Chief Zakryn's Gorn form came to a stop from his 4-limbed reptilian-like sprint throughout the ship to make the best time possible. Although his absent tail made some more complex motions difficult and threatened his balance and equilibrium if he tried scaling walls at an angle not relatively flat, a straight shot across level ground was still quite easy for him requiring only that he slow himself a bit at turns since he didn't have the weight of his tail to shift mid-leap to aid in the maneuver. He tagged out the Bolian that Doctor Chavet had gotten to carry Yutaro, "Ssstay, your work isss needed here. I have thisss."
Zakryn picked Ensign Yutaro up, sparing the time beforehand to glance over his injuries and see how best he could situate his arms along the Ensign's body to avoid causing further damage or undue pain if indeed Yutaro could feel such at the present time. "Ready when you are, Doctor. I have people sssearching every deck for injured, and on the Captain's order we're setting up triage pointsss every few decksss to lower response time and keep sssickbay from overflowing."
<Tag Chavet if any response besides 'follow me' lol>
***************************************************************************************************************************** [Main Sickbay]
The Emergency Medical Holographic Program, transferred in its entirety from the El-Salvador B, coalesced into being near Commander Irae recognizing her immediately from Starfleet Personnel records despite her never having been a fan of utilizing the program herself during her tenure as CMO. "Commander Irae, your Hazmat teams sent me ahead to inform you they've confirmed the Theta Radiation leak; it's not just another malfunction in the sensor alarms."
What WAS another malfunction; however, was the fact that the EMH's left arm hadn't formed and his uniform shirt was combined with Hawaiian-style shorts presumably from Zakryn's beloved Magnum P.I. holodeck programs... In a less stressful situation it might have been funny, but in the seriousness of the moment he merely rolled his eyes and sighed heavily before ignoring it completely.
"I'd offer to assist with the patients or calculate the ratio of Theta Radiation medication fluid to be vaporized for effective pumping through the ship, but with the apparent randomness and suddenness of these computer faults my program could be affected and I could put either operation at risk. Assuming we have the chance later I shall have to talk to the Captain about permanently storing my program in an isolated processor, still connected to the ship's computers, but behind a firewall of sorts strong enough to ensure I don't become compromised by any future technical assaults", the bald-headed holographic doctor droned on for a bit albeit about topics relevant to the situation at hand.

[Main Sickbay: Beginning Prior to and Ending After Yutaro is carried in]
*The Commander Irae had already been up to her metaphorical elbows in Sick Bay with incomming wounded. And every one of them are the more serious of the injuries and sick, the lesser having been filtered out by the triage stations. Once Yutaru arrives, he has to be the priority though as he is the most gravely injured. Its funny...she had almost choked for a moment there. Its been years, literal years, since shes had to "throw down" in a hospital setting and for that moment she was smacked with "wha th 'ell do i do first?".*
*Then its like her brain switches gears and shes moving. Patient, biobed, diagnostics and prognosis, elevated pain levels and adrenaline cared for by administration of medication, stabilization. Its like clockwork and the little woman is all over the place right up until the EMH pops up. Oh god. Its the same one! Upon hearing that its not just a fluke and we do have leakage happening she says to him* Why be i nae suprised?
*She hadnt really looked at the EMH, but she dropped a hypospray cartridge and bent down to pick it up, finding herself face to...erm...face with a pair of knees. Bare...naked...knees. So she looks up...those are EMH knees. Which isnt something that one expects to see EVER...much less in the middle of sick bay. So she straightens back up only to see that hes also missing an arm and has to restrain herself from asking if hes feeling allright. She does manage it though which is just as well because she would get an answer back having to do with tactile simulation or something and she would have to either facepalm heself or slap him from the sheer computerized smartass*
*She just keeps working, its easier that way but there comes a point while she is working with a dermal regenerator on Yutarus various burns, and the EMH keeps rambling on about things that she knows that she finally looks up, blows the bangs up off her forehead and snaps* Will ye shut it!

The sudden appearance of a Gorn in Starfleet uniform was startling to say the least, Nayomi's initial thought (after a gasp) was that this must be some other glitch, but then she remembered reading about Zakryn in the crew files. He took Yakuri from her and she suddenly realized just how exhausted she was. She had made it through any physical tests the academy threw at her, but she was no marine and obviously all of this (combined she expected with the effects of the radiation) was having it's toll on her. So much for a simple run down mission. She followed the great big lizard toward sickbay.
She thought sickbay was full when she left it, now it was bursting to the seems. Several nurses where already taking the milder patients to a temporary medbay and Commander Irae was in the thick of it. Nayomi felt a mild urge to send the Commander back to the bridge, but was soon distracted by the EMH. "Why are you dressed like that?!"
"Ensign, I do not understand your inquiry, I am not wearing anything. What you see is merely..."
"Will ye Shut it!" The Commander snapped in her thick brogue. The EMH complied.
"Commander, what is your status down here?" Nayomi asked, and the Commander gave her the run down on the patients.
"Good good, These malfunctions are all over the ship. I can't be sure if they are a result of the radiation affecting the bio-linear chips, or if the radiation is a symptom of the malfunctions. Yakuri might be able to help us discover the origin of all this, but he is in no condition to help us. I would use some of the anti-radiation inoculations on the chips, but then we won't have enough for the crew and if that is not the cause of the malfunctions, then all I am doing is putting a, to use an antiquated term, band aid on a hemorrhaging artery. What are your thoughts commander? Have you ever encountered something like this?"

Me thoughts bein, Doctor...tha were in th wrong places. Ochaye...ive dealt wi sommat a bit like this...a long time ago. *this look of dawning comprehension has been steeling over her stoney face for the last minute or two. She rakes messily spiked black hair from her face and looks at the Doctor* Ye wouldnae b'lieve me if i had th time t tell it. Take back yer Sickbay, Doctor...keep our people alive. Any means necessary...we got this. *she actually gives something like a little smile which is a rare thing these days. its like going from dim to being lit up, the surity of it. A dawned moment of "holy shite freakin eureka!". Deis gets the Doc to hit her up with an innoculation of the anti-rad meds and then spends a solid 20 minutes at the medical replicator. By the time shes finished she has one of something very odd. It looks like a freaking grenade if somewhat larger. When the doctor looks askance at it the Commander grins and says* Hypogrenade Me foine Doc. *Thats about when the replicator shorts out and sprays half the room with white and green sparklies. Deis actually kicks the thing and says* This damn well better work. Right! *She claps the Doctor on the shoulder and is moving at a run out of sickbay and into the corridors. She takes a moment to look at one of the directories, then heads for The Core*
(Tag Doc)
*Whilst running and turbolifting where she can, jeffries tubing where she cant Deis slaps her commbadge* =/\=Capn Savot, meet me in th Computer core... ... ...Capn...shite=/\= *because each time she tries to comm the captain or the bridge she gets the little "EHH wrong answer" chirp and then the computer speaks up with, "Unable to comply". So she just makes her way to where she knows that she needs to be. Thankfully the doors are still working. She strides in and stops with a blink of suprise...what is he even doing here? Wait...he was there. For the first time since returning to this ship her Captain would see a smile that seems almost old fashioned on her face as they both say at the same time* Listening station!
Savot's right eyebrow arches in the near-equivalent of a grin at the knowledge that he and Deis had arrived at the same conclusion, recalling a mission several years before in which a computer virus flooded the El Salvador-B with a virus that incapacitated most of the crew in seconds. Having tracked down what he believed to be the core of this computer virus while working at Ops on the bridge, Savot then proceeded to the El Salvador-C's Main Computer Core for what he knew had to be the first step of any effort to restore the vessel.
His brow elevated at the sight of the device that Deis carried, and both to confirm his assumption and as an additional insurance policy to make sure the components were intact despite the ship's malfunctions, Savot scanned the hypogrenade with his tricorder, "Inspired thinking, Commander. A quick-delivery device to purge the bio-linear chips surrounding the Main Core of the Theta radiation; to be followed by a manual discharge of the proper energy pulse that will solidify those chips rendering them immune to repeat contamination, leaving us with a protected Core from which to launch our counter attack upon the virus."
Thank ye, Capn. I am gratified tha me plan meets wi yer approval. Righ' then. Were gunna need t time this right. Ill set th charge...ye set th chips b'fore th mist can dissipate aye? *She looks at him while she rambles this out and realizes that even in the midst of terrible things going down...in his presence she is Home. No time for that sort of thing, she just waits for his nod and once she has it, she lifts the bulbous hypogrenade and darts in. It dosent need to be thrown thankfully, just placed near. She sits the thing carefully on one of the chip arrays and then twists the top. This gives her 3 seconds to dart back out of the way. Just as she reaches Savot again there is an orangey yellow KWAFLOPOOF! that blankets the entire area in the mist, most probably herself and the Captain as well* Now Savot!
Savot held 3 fingers aloft, lowering one at a time in a countdown to 2 other crewmembers who each manned a device like the one he knelt beside. In the computer's contaminated state they couldn't risk the chance that the energy pulse to trigger the bio-linear chip's solidified state would fail, so the vulcan had rigged a trio of transporter enhancers to surround the area in question and fitted each with a different power source and discharge crystal more appropriate to the pulse they needed to send through the chips.
After the hypogrenade's contents suffused the immediate vicinity of the Main Core, Savot and the others twisted the uppermost sections of their pattern enhancers, establishing the triangulated field within which the energy pulse instantly followed. Though there was little visual different in the chips between their gelatinous and solid states, a slight darkening of their amber coloring indicated they had successfully solidified, and would now be free from the deletirious effects that organic matter suffered from the Theta radiation.
"Well done Commander", Savot used her rank but gave no indication that her use of his name bothered him at all, "Having tracked down the initial infection point within the computers and analyzing the virus' code, I believe I've formulated an effective anti-viral program. As in our previous mission I recommend introduction of the anti-virus via a shuttlecraft's independent computer system. Perhaps the Mini-Sal would be appropriate?" The last was suggested with as 'light' a tone as Savot would display under such serious circumstances.
Very appropriate, Sir. *It is SO hard not to beamsmile and squeal happily. The Mini-Sal is one of her two favorite things. Its like old times. She turns to head back out of the core and towards the shuttlebay, she actually snorts with a little laughter, wondering if anyone thought to check and see if there are any warbirds circling out there...you know...just in case. Because Warbirds happen...*

[Begins: Main Computer Core Ends: Shuttle Bay]
Savot flipped open a tricorder for a final confirmation scan that the bio-linear chips within the immediate vicinity of the Main Computer Core had been successfully solidified and thereby rendered safe from any repeat radiation contamination. Satisfied, he turned to the other 2 crewmen who'd helped him set up the modified transport enhancers, "Lieutenant, proceed to sickbay and inform Doctor Chavet that we'll be shutting down main ship's power in approximately 45 minutes. Ideally, the independent Sickbay power backups should provide uninterrupted energy to anyone on life support but I want her aware just in case. Ensign, you go to Engineering and inform Lt. Commander Delbridge of the same."
"Commander Irae and I will proceed to the shuttlebay, and use the computer system aboard the Mini-Sal to transmit a corrective counter-virus into the base code segments within the Core. The counter-virus must be in place before the shutdown for the restart sequence to read from that, instead of the currently corrupted code. However, we must shut down main power almost immediately after uploading the counter-virus, or the code corruption will have time to ruin it. Take this tricorder and tell Commander Delbridge to shut down main power within 7 seconds of detecting an idle impulse flash from the shuttle, that will be our signal", the two headed to their various destinations, and Savot turned to nod to Deis so they could set off as well.
::Commander Irae does not speak while the Captain is giving his orders to the Lt. Lettin a Captain work, as it were. It is hard as hell to get the little ghostly smile off her face. It surprised her that their minds had met so perfectly in this instance. Surprised and pleased...coupled with a bit of confidence that she hadn’t expected. So she will not interrupt him, she stands there nodding in agreement to the orders, backing him up::
::Once the Lt. had been sent on his way she simply turns and accompanies at his side. He had always disliked the idea of command...but damn her if he does not wear it well. In a situation this chaotic, the vulcan calm and surety is exactly what this ship needs. Deis certainly couldn’t have given the El Salvador that...not then. Probably not now. Losing the ship would have been more than she could bear had it been beneath her hands at the time. She shakes herself out of those thoughts, we have a job to do here and that won’t get done if she’s...admiring. But she does say, as they eventually approach the bays:: Wear th pips well Capn.
Though the technical reversal of rank from their past relationship could've been awkward, and she had clearly gone through a great deal in her years away, what was important was that Deis Irae and Savot were walking the corridors of a starship El Salvador on their way to solve a problem in the defense of craft and crew. A trusted comrade had Engineering in hand for the moment, and a capable doctor was tending the wounded. It could only have been better if a no longer quite so young Kevin Zimmerman was reluctantly keeping the center seat warm on the bridge throughout the crisis.
Deis' words mean more than she knows; Savot had always felt he was ill-equipped to fill the command vacancy left in Irae's wake, but circumstances had demanded he assume the post and he held the captaincy still. "I... thank you, Commander", was as much as he could say as they came to the corridor outside the shuttlebay in question. Savot entered a series of commands on a wall console to the left of the doors, and wall panels pushed out into the hall slightly so they had room to slide atop each other and reveal the EVA suit lockers they'd covered. Because the malfunctions had killed the shuttlebay's exit forcefields, the entire bay had been opened to space when Tamarov had gone back to Mars for help.
Savot tapped another control that caused body-length vertical racks to slide out into the hallway upon which hung 2 complete space suits. He explained the need for them as he started donning his suit, "We'll need to manually close the nearest bulkhead doors here in the corridor to either side of the doors leading into the shuttlebay. When those open, it'll expose this hallway to vacuum, so be sure to secure yourself magnetically during the brief decompression. Then we can make our way to the Mini-Sal which should be held firmly in place by physical docking clamps."
::The racks slid out and Deis quirks that left brow in a little expression that has to look like shes immitating the HVIC...but isnt. Its been a while since shes had to dress out for EVA and frankly, standing around in "nothing" has never been her idea of exciting.:: Understood. Bulkhead doors first. Been aboard a total o...6 hours. Tis never dull around ye, Sir...or this ship. ::She gives this little shrug and almost smile and pulls down a suit, getting into it as quickly as possible while checking all seals and such as per protocol. She has to cinch up the side strappings on the legs as shes short and these suits tend to be one size fit all except "you". Once dressed out she twists the helmet into place and turns to the Captain:: Check me seals out Sir, I'll do ye. ::Checking his neck seals while he goes over her own and then nodding, giving the traditional gloved palm bump to his helmet:: Righ'. Lets get it on aye? ::Hitting the depressurization herself why not::
Savot put all of his EVA suit except the helmet and air tank before going to the door on his side of the hall and pumping the manual pressure lever to close and seal the bulkhead off so nowhere else would get depressurized. "Indeed. One could argue that a situation of this severity during a shakedown cruise proves this ship is deserving of its lineage", Savot spoke his usual tone despite the semi-humorous nature of his statement, then nodded his agreement and checked Deis’ seals giving the gloved thumbs-up to her after ensuring their safety.
Standing to the opposite side of the bay doors from Deis for symmetry's sake, Savot activated his magnetic boots to anchor him during the initial outward rush of air into space, and stood silently as she hit the button and opened the bay doors. As expected, there was a sudden outward rush of atmosphere since the shuttlebay force fields weren't in place separating the bay from vacuum. But as expected, the modified Argo-class Mini-Sal shuttlecraft reclaimed years prior on another mission, sat firmly held to the deck by docking clamps designed to keep shuttlebay chaos to a minimum in case of gravity or intertial dampener loss. One slot was empty where the smaller shuttle Lieutenant Tamarov had taken used to be, but several others were still there similarly held in place by clamps. A currently unmanned control room was off to the right on the 2nd floor of the bay, but was currently unnecessary to the Captain and First Officer. Savot, not careless but not wanting to take more time than was essential, deactivated his boots and pushed off to float towards the Mini-Sal.
::The humor delivered in that beautiful vulcan deadpan makes the Commander snort rather loudly into a nearly silent laugh. Once the seals are checked and they are both secure Deis triggers the mag-boots, the pull of which is comforting as depressurization wind sucks at them rather strongly. It dosent matter that were protected...vacuum is always creepy as hell. And then there is the lovely lack of gravity. She can’t help but make a note of this through the suit to suit comms:: Ken ye, Sir...ye never know tha ye miss a thing, an need it desperately until it be gone. ::That spoken as she releases the hold of the grav boots and pushes off into a whole lot of NOT gravity and atmosphere. She moves as quickly as she can while not going overboard as we are on the clock here and it takes so very little to get moving and just never stop.::
Mind takin "shotgun" Capn? Been ages since I got t pilot this bonny wee Sally, even if we’re nae goin’ anywhere. ::The way to the Mini-Sal wasn’t that far and aim was easy enough so there wasn’t time to like or dislike the sensation of floating. Once grappled onto the Mini-Sal, getting in is simple if a bit cumbersome with so much spacesuit on. Deis settles herself down into the pilot’s seat and straps in, waiting for Savot to do the same. Once he is in place she seals up the doors and powers up, pressurizing the shuttle’s interior so they can remove their suit helmets to breathe and move about a bit easier.::
(Joint Post with Commander Irae, probably one more to come that'll solve the current crisis)

Sickbay was now covered with white and green sparkles. With the EMH wandering about in his tropical affair it almost looked like a party, if you could look past the wounded. Nayomi could not. "Crewman!" she snapped at one fellow who had reported in with what accounted for little more than a splinter but had yet to take a hint and leave, "Get this cleaned up!"
"Ahhhh... Yes, Yes mame!" he squealed, Nayomi was guessing he wished he had left half an hour ago now like she told him to. Mind you she had to be fair, half the ship seemed to be in some sort of disaster like state with things going topsy turvy. Unlike past ships the El Salvador had hologram systems built in to more places than just sickbay and the entertainment systems, as far as she knew it looked like a Risan Luau on the rest of the ship. On the bright side it seemed like most crew members where either locked in their quarters waiting it out, or going about their duties with extra care. As a result the level of wounded had turned from a waterfall to a trickle and she was getting more people off her bio-beds than on them.
Just as things were getting under control and the last of the sparkles had been sucked up, a Lieutenant walked through the doors looking like he had been through a mid-afternoon walk in Ferenginar. Nayomi handed him a towel and didn’t ask questions, at this point in time is seemed par for the course.
“Power is going to go out in half an hour Doctor.” He informed her. “The Captain and First Officer have got one hell of a plan, but they have to restart the ship, so to say. I can help you with your back up generators.”
“Good, good give them a run down. I don’t think they should be affected, but best not to take chances.” Nayomi furrowed her brow, she was thrilled there seemed to be a solution, but anytime to switched to generators there was a risk they would not start properly, she had a bad experience during a bad electrical storm a couple years back doing some disaster relief work on a Trill colony. After three hours with no power she felt like she was back in the middle ages.
“Crewman, are you all done with those sparkles?” He was. “Good, go to the Cargo bay and other triage stations, inform my staff there of the power outage and assist them. Ensign, go with him.” Hopefully this would all be over soon.
Nayomi then did a quick tour of her sickbay checking on her patients, most were doing well, a few where stable, and would require further treatment when the ships systems where reliable again, but Yutaru was not doing well. He was still unconscious and had received severe burns on about half of his body and some rather severe internal injuries. His recovery would not be an easy one but for now all they could do was stabilize and wait.

[Shuttlebay]
Savot sat in the co-pilot seat of the Mini-Sal shuttlecraft as Commander Irae powered it up. The vulcan captain had managed to locate the initial computer virus and write a counter-virus program; to upload the virus they would use a computer system that was separate from the El Salvador itself, using the shuttle's computer like a syringe to inject medication into a sick body. Savot transmitted the counter-virus from his datapadd to the shuttle's computer, then transmitted it from the Mini-Sal to the El Salvador's Main Computer Core. As soon as the transmission completed, Savot signaled Irae who immediately performed an idle impulse flash which was the signal that Delbridge in Engineering would detect via tricorder to know that it was time to fully power down the ailing starship.
Seven seconds was the comfort zone Savot had calculated could elapse before the counter-virus program could be corrupted by the virus inside the El Sal's computers. Only 3 seconds passed before Lt. Commander Delbridge received the impulse flash signal and initiated full power shutdown. The emergency lighting in the shuttlebay dimmed confirming for Savot and Deis that the power had been successfully deactivated. They waited in silence for what metaphorically seemed like an eternity, but in truth was only approximately 17 seconds, and then emergency lighting came back on and the Mini-Sal's sensor scans of the El Salvador revealed that systems were beginning to slowly restore as the Main Computer rebooted itself from the memory segment now including the counter-virus program.
The startup sequence carried the counter-virus search/purge function throughout the entire Computer Network, eliminating the virus where possible and where it was too deeply ingrained the counter-virus quarantined that segment of code and re-routed functions around the affected sector until the bio-linear chips could be manually replaced with untainted ones. Savot waited until all of the major systems reported power restored before tapping his commbadge to test, =^=Savot to Engineering, please report.=^=
Delbridge's voice echoed in the shuttle right away and you could practically hear the grin on his face, =^=You're coming through loud and clear, boss. Systems are reading green across the board and we're running manual diagnostics with triple redundancy to confirm.=^=
=^=Very good Mr. Delbridge; our compliments to all your team. Excellent work across the board, Savot out=^=, the captain replied with internal relief. He then tapped his badge again to switch recipients, =^=Savot to Sickbay; Engineering reports full system functionality has been restored and the shuttle's sensors have just detected a relief shuttle arriving from Mars bringing us additional personnel and preparing to transport Ensign Yutaro back to Earth for more intensive medical care. Are there any additional severe injuries to report?=^=
<Tag Chavet>
********************************************************************************************************************************************************** [Main Bridge]
After Deis had re-secured the Mini-Sal and powered her down, Savot returned to the bridge via now-functioning turbolifts where he then contacted the incoming shuttle, =^=Shuttlecraft Von Braun, your ID has been confirmed and you are cleared to land in Main Shuttlebay to disembark your replacement officers; medical teams will be standing by to take Ensign Yutaro aboard for return to Earth space. Thank you for your swift response, Savot out.=^=

::Had it been any other man in the galaxy, Deis would have offered a high five and a hug for the sudden success with the computers. But this is Savot. And this is She...now. Either reaction would be inappropriate and embarassing. So instead she just looks at the Captain and treats him to the kind of grin he hasnt seen in years. She dosent say anything...just allows him to comm around making sure everything is operational and then he is soon gone. Deis just sits in the Mini-Sal having to overcome an emotional rush that she hasnt felt in so damn long. It worked. They...worked. And it was so natural and so...point to point perfect. Almost without thinking she powers the Mini-Sal down, replacing the docking clamps...and then just sits there for a little while, brushing fingers along the jagged scarring on her face. Yes. Once sickbay has calmed down, she needs to go and see Dr. Chavet. Its time. Long since time.::
::Once the Mini-Sal is back in place, the Commander steps out and heads straight for the EVA "cabinets". Getting out of one of these suits is a lot easier than getting into it, so within about 5 minutes she stripped back down to her uniform and has the suit tucked and stowed away. Before she can head out of the shuttle bay, her comms chirp::
Captain Savot: =/\=Commander would you please remain in the shuttle bay for the present? Our new Science Officer will be arriving in 15 minutes. My presence is required on the Bridge but I wish command staff to welcome her aboard.=/\=
=/\=Occourse Capn, Ill meet wi' her, show her th ropes. Irae out.=/\= ::She retrieves a workpad from one of the shuttle bay slots and receives the information on our new Science officer. Ensign Kate Jamison, Chief Science Officer. Good reviews from the board on record. So she waits and once the shuttle comes in she prepares to greet our newest "Scientist"::

[15 minutes later]
Kate was excited about her new posting and looked forward to getting started. She looked around the shuttle bay as she stepped off the shuttle, a duffel draped over her shoulder and another bag held in her other hand.

[Arriving on the same shuttle as Kate]
Sarah, likewise with a duffel bag over one shoulder and another on the other hand, paused a moment at the shuttle's ramp before stepping off. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and willed herself to stop trembling. This is the posting you dreamed of, Ingersoll, she silently told herself. Pull yourself together and start acting like a CTSO.
With afinal deep breath, she stepped off the shuttle, next to her friend Kate. "Well, old sock, we've finally got here," she said in her husky British accent. She then noticed that there was quite a lot of hustle and bustle going on. "Seems to be something afoot."

Indeed they had worked hard, four long years at the Academy. They had also played hard, when the opportunity presented itself, which was rare enough. But there would be time for more hijinks later. "Well, nothing for it now but to report in. I suppose there's an Officer of the Deck about." She looked around, and spied a harried looking fellow behind a console. "Reckon that's him?"
