"How strange. What does it say?" Saarok looked down and activated the PaDD it read:
'I had never expected to see you return here. You told me once it maybe neccesary but I never thought it would come to this. You can be rest assured your safe house is still intact. No one has been near. The files are encrypted as per your instructions. I know things must be bad for you to come back here. I also know the Section must be doing something real bad for you to strike back at them like this, but think carefully before you act. Your list of undercover agents is invaluable and many agents cover like my own is at risk. Try and negotiate with Section Head - you maybe surprised how accomadating he can be. Watch your back old friend. Tyrone'
Saarok stared at the PaDD unsure what to make of the enigmatic message. "Well looks like we have found part of the answer - teh location to your safe house." "I dont see an address?" Saarok replied, V'Shal shook her head, "You really are losing your touch." She crossed to a public terminal and actvated. "Computer locate a property owned by a Tyrone put paid for by a Saarok" "1 Property located. Payment of rent lapsed and transfered to Tyrone." "Location?" "Apartment 35, Selan Flats, Upper East Side." "There we are" V'Shal replied, "Lets get going. Perhaps you could track this Tyrone down Tedak? or perhaps get the shuttle ready for take off. I doubt this will take long now."

"I'm sorry, Admiral, but I am still not making any headway with this patient. I understand the Nevada is backand she came from the same place as this alien did, and that they had alien patients. I could perhaps use the help of their Medical Officer to see if she has discovered anything that might help us here."
"Good. We are having a briefing with their crew. You can catch up with her there. Keep me posted, doc."
The Admiral left with a weary look on his face.

ooc: oops...forgot to change accounts......this is posted as Tedak, obviously.
"Why don't you track down this Tyrone," Tedak retorted, "then I'll stay with Ambassador Saarok." He was growing extremely tired of being ordered around by a woman who claimed to be Saarok's wife. Since Saarok had no memory of her, even though she claimed they were bonded by necessity of pon farr, and claimed Salek was not her son, Tedak doubted she claimed who she said she was.
Tedak knew he had needed to contact Saarok's son, and was now waiting for the starfleet doctor to respond to his call.
<Salek?>
"You may be of the secret service," Tedak glared at the Vulcan woman, "but I am not at your beck and call. I am staying with Saarok, to figure out if he has left any clues at this property. You, my dear, do not have the benefit of useful pets the way we do. And my shuttle is always ready for take off. All it needs is my say so, and it goes anywhere I please."
~~
"Stuart?" Lily asked, almost uncertainly after being told to stick to starfleet protocol or risk getting deleted, "I have a message for you from Ambassador Tedak. He asks if you can check whether Ambassador Saarok's son is also the son of the Vulcan female called V'Shal. He also asks if you can contact Salek through the official medical channels, while he himself has tried to do so through the diplomatic channels."

V'Shal looked at Tedak and then looked at him with what may have passed for grudging respect. "Very well. Let us all go to this appartment. Perhaps there is logic in the adage of 'Safety in Numbers'. The appartment isnt far from here, I think we shoulod walk." Tedak nodded, "Lets us depart then." V'Shal alowed tedak and Saarok to take the lead and followed dutifully behind like some sort of bodyguard.

“What is our current distance?” Sopek asked from his round command chair. It had been approximately an hour since there encounter with the Romulan diplomatic ship, the ship that did have three life signs, that changed into two. The very same ship that Sopek knew the traitor Saarok was aboard, but Saarok’s helpers were not the only ones who could mask sensor readings. The organisation had technology much more advanced than a simple Romulan shuttle, one that would have no idea it were still being followed.
“We are approaching Vulcan,” his Tactical Supervisor replied, “I am detecting the shuttle in the Takona region.
“Is Saarok there?” Sopek asked.
“According to the docking records of the spaceport, three were aboard the shuttle.”
If he was anything but Vulcan, Sopek would have smiled. Saarok was finally trapped, and soon he would be crushed like a bug.
“I am going down to the surface,” Sopek announced, “download all details of Saarok’s movements to my tricorder.”
“Yes Director,” the Tactical Supervisor replied.
As he stepped onto the transporter padd, Sopek couldn’t help but make one last comment before the beam claimed him.
“I do hope Saarok was not planning to live long and prosper.”
Hidden inside the transporter beam, Sopek did this time smile, he would enjoy killing the traitor Saarok.

"Perhaps it would be better if the two of you remained in front of the door and allowed me to enter myself as we do not know what kind of traps I might have put down to protect whatever I might have inside", Saarok said
"That is agreeable to me. I believe we should all stick together though" V Shal replied.
<Tag Tedak>
"As you wish", he said as the trio proceeded to walk down the street towards a safe house which is supposed to posses the means to fight S31 or the person who was or is plotting to take him down. For all he had so far was the word of V'Shal and there was no evidence whatsoever to support her claim except for her record which suggested some sort of black ops.
After a moderately long walk the trio fantastical arrived to the door of the apartment that was supposed to be the safe house belonging to him. But for all he knew it could simply be a trap. When they arrived to the entrance Saarok pulled out a tricoder and started scanning the room behind the door.
"It would appear as if there is nothing inside", he said to V'Shal and Tedak
"Perhaps we should attempt to open the door"; V'Shal suggested
"It is the only logical course to pursue", Saarok said as he went and put his hand on the pad next to the door. But before he could do anything more, he felt a transporter beam engulf him and he dematerialized from the planet surface leaving V'Shal and Tedak behind.
V'Shal for once looked unsettled. "This is most...unplanned for" she said to herself and quickly pulled out a tricorder, "It looks like an orbital transport"
<Tedak>
--Meanwhile in orbit around Vulcan--
"Transport successful, they will not be able to detect it I used the former high command transporter network to conceal the signal", a man said
"Good", another one said as he rushed back to the transporter pad where Saarok was standing looking around attempting to ascertain the environment in which he was now
"Director, welcome back", the man said
"Director?", Saarok asked
"So it is true the damage was as our scientists ascertained", the man said, "Luckily for a time they did attempt to find a way to restore your memory", the man said, "Before the overturn and another one taking over forcing me to flee with the few supporters I had.", the man said
"Overturn? Supporters?", Saarok asked looking as surprised as a Vulcan can be
"It is a long story for which at this time I do not have the time for", he said, "When they see that you are missing it will not take them long to locate us so we must act quickly", the man said, "Before the overturn our scientist were researching the energy burst that 'caused your memory loss, and they were on the verge of creating a way to restore it but then the project was stopped and a new Director took over.", he said, "But I and a few others who are loyal stole the research before it could be destroyed and escaped in this vessel. We spent a fair amount of time attempting to finish the project and we managed to do it, well sort of", the man said
Saarok was still looking the man right in his eyes, if he wanted him dead, Saarok would already be dead, it was possible that this man was telling the truth he thought.
"What do you mean by saying it sort of worked?", Saarok asked
"Well it doesn't work as we expected it, it 'causes and overload of the neural pathways and puts one in a comma after which, if the person awakes the neural links are reestablished and ones memory is restored.", he said
"You are implying if I submit myself to this procedure I might end up as a plant?", Saarok asked
"Well we only tested it on the Humans there is a chance it will work find with Vulcans as your neurophysiology is, stronger"; the man said, "And if you do not submit S31 will remain in the hands of the new director who will return to the old ways and all that Starfleet hoped to accomplish by putting you in command will be lost. And you will be dead."; the man finished
"If you desire to submit to the procedure, simply enter your safe house and the system will transport you to your real safe house where we prepared everything for the procedure", the man finished
"Sir, the enemy ship is approaching, they are initiating an active scan, they will detect us in 3 minutes", the man said
"Beam the Director back down, now"; the man said, "Just remember all that is at stake here", he said and a few moments later Saarok was back in front of the door of his "safe house"
<Tag V'Shal, Tedak and the man trying to kill him>
V'shal seemed mightily releaved to see Saarok return. "Are you ok?" "I think so" Saarok replied, "What happened?" Tedak asked Saarok explained briefly, V'shal frowned , "This is most irregular. He seems to be wanting to help you but I wouldnt trust him at all. I suggest we move quickly to your safe house"

Saarok tried the door and entered. The room was empty save a single transport pad. It was big enough for all three to squeeze on before Saarok pushed a button. They vanished in a haze. They appeared in a large windowless warehouse like room. There were no doors either. "Wow" Tedak whistled, "Indeed - it is impressive. It looks as if there are enough rations for you to be able to live here for years" V'Shal noted. "Well lets get searching, Saarok must have a backup of his memory here somewhere." The three vulcanoids split up and began checking padds and rummaging in boxes. V'shal worked quickly and methodically her goal was nearly reached. It had taken hard work and Tedak had been more than a thorn in her side. But she still smiled at how well her plan had worked. By hiring mercenaries to kill Saarok she had driven him straight to his safe house and the list of deep cover agents. Now she just had to find it. After five minutes of searching she found Saaroks back up and quickly discarded it, that was of no use to her. Finally she found the Padd she wanted. It wasnt completly up to date, but there were enough current names here to make her very rich indeed. Carefully she sidled round to the platform. "Hey where are you going," "Home and without you" V'Shal said, "Though I think you can survive here a awhile. She bent and placed something beside the transporter pad. "Goodbye dearest Husband you always were too trusting." With that and before Tedak or Saarok could respond she disappeared in a blue haze shortly followed by an explosion that tore the pad to shreads.
V' Shal re appeared on the surface and hurried into the crowds, she knew Saaroks ally, the one who had beamed him up was still around and she needed to get away fast, quickly she pulled out a comm unit, "V'Shal to Sopek. I am ready for extraction. Repeat I am ready for extraction."

The force of the explosion threw both diplomats the the ground and they were showered with debris. The two men covered their heads for protection, as the managed to scramble to safety. Tedak got to his feet first, then helped his friend up. "Are you undamaged?" he querried, then burst into laughter. "Right, I never thought I'd be using Vulcan speech," he chuckled, "I'm sorry, I suppose it is the direness of this situation that is getting to me."
He dusted off his robes, and swiped at the hem of his robe, which was aflame. He gazed around, gazing in awe at the damage the explosion had done, and at the transporter pad which was still ablaze. Trying the door, he found it locked, and for some odd reason the windows had been barred. "Since when are windows on Vulcan covered up?" he asked, though not expecting an answer.
Smoke was filling up the room fast, obscuring the objects in the room from sight. "I don't suppose your apartment has any secret passages, does it my friend?" he asked, as he continued to check his clothing for fire. Apart from a few scrapes and bruises, he was feeling just fine. "We must get out of here fast, I have no doubt that this place is highly flammable, and if the smoke doesn't kill us first, then either the fire or another explosion will."

Saarok was still coughing from all the dust that was in the air since the explosion. That woman he thought, one can not avoid giving her credit for all the tricks she pulled on them he thought.
"I would have expected you to keep an eye on her, after all you’re the one who said don't trust her"; Saarok said to Tedak as he moved away from the fire
<Tag Tedak>
"Cover your nose and mouth", Saarok said as some gaseous compound started spraying from the ceiling and began extinguishing the fire which was caused by the explosion. After a few moments all the fires were out and the gas subsided.
"Well at least we need not worry about the fire now"; Saarok said. Just as he was done speaking Tedak shouted informing him that there were several people and some equipment transporting in. Saarok went over to join Tedak and saw that it was the guy who brought him up to the ship just a half an hour ago.
<Tag Tedak>
"Director", the man said, "What happened here"; the man asked looking over at the debris around the floor
"V'Shal, my wife or so she claimed, stole a pad from here and blew up the transporter pad when she escaped", Saarok said
"Took a pad? Then, this is not good"; the man said, "She could sell that pad which contains all the deep cover agents you placed on nearly all the federation member planets, in all the important institutions, in the Romulans senate, the Tal-Shiar, the....", the man stopped when he saw Tedak listening to all he was saying
<Tag Tedak>
"There is no time for that now", Saarok said, "I consent to the procedure, it is time to restore my memory"; he said to the man that introduced himself as Cmdr. Jackson.
As soon as Saarok gave his consent for the procedure the other 2 people who were with Jackson started to unpack their equipment.
"This will take a bit of time", Jackson said, "It would be helpful if you found the backup of his memory somewhere around here, as it would make the job so much more easier.", he finished as he joined the men who were preparing the equipment. One of the men was a Vulcan and the other was a Betazoid.
Meanwhile Saarok and Tedak returned to searching for the backup of his memory but as neither knew what it looked like it would be pure luck if one of them found it.
"I may have something", Tedak called over showing a pad which had a very unusual shape
Jackson went over to take a look, "Amazing"; he said, "It is a scan of his brain displaying all the neurochemical links, voltage .... With this we'll be able to restore his memory for sure without any danger, well at least everything till about 3 months before the incident with the energy discharge", Jackson said as he went over to the machine
"It is time"; he said about a half an hour later
They laid Saarok down on an improvised table and administered him with a narcoleptic drug. After which they arranged the other equipment around his head....

"After the way she bossed me around?" Tedak coughed, still attempting to extinguish his burning clothing. "Keeping an eye on her and sticking close to you two would've aroused her suspiscion. I am, however, still awaiting answer from your son. I've tried to contact him, I hope either the medical corps or the diplomatic corps can find him."
"Yes, that does indeed take care of the fire, now perhaps we should go looking for some new attire?" The Romulan raised an eyebrow at the new person who had joined them, and then at Saarok himself. He pointed at their tattered clothing. "We've been on fire," he said matter-of-factly, "after you're done with Saarok, perhaps we should find a medic, hm? Not that I don't trust you lot, but my friend here is very vulnerable and not matter what you're gonna do with him, I'm going to be here to make sure you don't foul up. And when you're done, we're going to the nearest medical fascility to make sure you have indeed not fouled up."
He fell silent as the group of men seemed to ignore him, and fell in to a hushed conversation with Saarok, who also momentarily seemed to have forgotten he was present.
"Please don't mind me," Tedak said, "I seem to have been talking to air for the past ten minutes or so, you lot were so engrossed with one another, one might start to think that maybe you all were dating one another!" He grinned at their confused expressions. " He glanced at Saarok. "I still have a few friends in the Empire who'd be willing to keep an eye out for that information your....wife....stole from you."
He watched as the men started to discuss a few things among themselves. It seemed that Saarok now consented to a very dangerous procedure, and soon he found himself joining Saarok in search for a back-up of his memory. Not much later, the back-up file was found, and Saarok was prepared.
Tedak was told to stay to the side, and not interfere with the procedure at any point. Their bodylanguage told the Romulan that they would sooner have him removed, or even far away from their location, than let him watch. "If you harm him in any way....." Tedak threatened, and left the threat hanging in the air as he watched anxiously as they started working on his friend.

--Some time later--
Saarok was still lying on the improvised bed in his safe house on Vulcan. He could sense the drugs slowly wearing of and senses returning to him. He attempted to get up from the bed but still was not strong enough to do it. He felt dizzy so he returned to lying down. He didn't see anyone near him; they probably presumed he was still out cold. Slowly he remembered how he got too the place where he was now. V’Shal he thought and a flash of images flashed before his eyes. A body of a young Vulcan female around the age of 45, she was naked and approaching him ... Then the same female dressed in a black uniform shooting at a group of human colonists on an unknown planet... Next images of Saarok as a young boy on Vulcan came to him. His mother was holding him in her hands then the image disappeared it was replaced by an image of a Starfleet admiral talking to him, he was wearing the captain's pips the admiral was mentioning an assignment, taking control of a rouge department. Then it was replaced by an image of an old Vulcan male talking about suppressing emotions while a young Saarok was following him through a desert, "We are following the true path of Surak", the elder Vulcan said as they resumed to walk through the desert. Then the image faded away and was replaced by Saarok carrying a young human female out of a cavern of some sort, she seemed to be terribly injured. Then the image faded away and was replaced by an image of Saarok dressed in a black uniform on the bridge of a ship that appeared to be a galaxy class, "10 minutes till we reach the outpost, admiral", a man said
"Prepare all weapons, prepare to de-cloak behind their defense perimeter, if we fail, the federation will be lost"
And the image faded away. It was replaced by an image of a Vulcan male wearing a teal uniform. "It has been a long time since we last spoke, father", the young Vulcan male said. And the image faded away...
--After about an half an hour of flashing images--
Saarok could hear someone calling his name out in the black of his head. As slowly he returned to reality.
<Tag Tedak>
"I am .... undamaged", Saarok replied, "And I have regained my memory, and the logical thing to do now is to return to Starbase Assaillant right away. If we intend to stop my dear old wife to damaging the federation beyond repair I require the use of certain individuals and the station computer.", Saarok said as he slowly rose up from the lying position into a sitting one

V'Shal made the rendezvous point in good time and had to wait for Sopek to arrive. She had known Sopek nearly as long as Saarok, as mercenarys went he wasnt bad. Few expected a Vulcan mercenary and they were rare - but he was well worth it. Efficient didnt even cover it. "Do you have it?" "Dont worry you ll get your money" Sopek nodded, "What about Saarok?" "he shouldnt be a problem even if he and his romulan lapdog escape the room, I havent called off the assasins. He ll be running for a long time - and if not - well he ll be dead" "You say it so calmly" "Well he always was a bondmate of convienince, and now well he is no longer needed." "Where first then?" "Where indeed. The Tal Shiar is out because of Tedak, teh Cardassians are a ruined nation as are the Dominion. So... I know - The Orion Syndicate. Lets get going and set a course for Farius Prime."

Salek was away on a mission for Starfleet Intelligence when a message was sent out for him from an ambassador Tedak. When he returned to SFI headquarters on Earth and his office he received the message.
"Intriguing"; he said as he listened to the message again

Interesting, Salek thought as he was reading through the file SFI had on the Romulan ambassador. It would appear my father is still up to his old tricks, he thought as he read some of the "adventures" the two ambassadors had together but he could tell from a distance of several light years that certain parts were omitted.

I am afraid this is the extent of the help I can provide you. Give Saarok my regards when you see him. This message and all logs relating to it will be removed from your ships computer after you have viewed this message. The reason for this is to protect my father and of course you also from any .... enemies who could use this information against either of you or me for that mater. Live long and prosper Ambassador. Tedak gently shook his friend; it had been hours since the black clad gentlemen, which had treated him none too friendly, had reparted, and had left their chief unconscious and unchecked upon. "Saarok wake up!" Tedak insisted, then took a few steps back when the Vulcan finally stirred. "Are you all right?" he asked, concern showing in his voice.
"Right this way," Tedak agreed, "my shuttle is still ready for departure. She couldn't have taken it, without specific instructions, nobody can fly that thing. If I'm aboard, and voicing oders, it won't need those instructions. Let's go."
The Romulan helped the older man to his feet, and supported him into his shuttle, easing him down in the navigations chair. "And you're going to rest my friend," Tedak insisted, "don't touch that console until I ask you to. No doubt you feel overwhelmed by information you didn't remember you contained, and your mind will need time to process all that information."
Then his glance fell on a blinking light, informing him that he'd received a message.
And indeed as soon as he'd read the message, all traces of it disappeared from the ship's computer system. "How nice of him," Tedak muttered, "but there's nothing in his message that we didn't already know." The Romulan sat down in the other chair and told the ship to set course for Assaillant, after Vulcan Space Control gave them clearance for departure.
~~
The Romulan diplomatic vessel was nearing starbase Assaillant at high speed, dodging the weapons fire coming from a small agile craft that had been pursuing them for days now. "Starbase Assaillant, we are under attack!" Tedak cried, as he continued to maneuvre the small craft. "Saarok my friend, I could use your assistance about now. You concentrate on returning fire while I'll try to stay out of his weapons range."
He was knocked right from his seat when at last the enemy's fire pounded on the hull of the diplomatic vessel. Shields were already severely weakened, and were about to fail them. Rubbing the back of his head, and trying to get vision back into focus, Tedak climbed back in his seat. "Mercy's going to have a ball with us," he scowled, as his vision stayed out of focus. "You'll have to do both now my friend, I'm too dizzy to even aim our torpedoes."
He turned back to his console and just managed to activate their distress signal, while Saarok continued to display what must like aerial antics towards anyone witnessing the battle from Assaillant.

Zhukarak was in the fighter's hangar bay as the alert sounded. Zhuk was part of the Perigrine fighter contingent on Assailant, when he was not away on mission with the Nevada. He was checking on their progress, when lights lit up, and horns sounded.
A federation shuttle, Romulan, was under attack as it was nearing the starbase. Zhukarak did not await orders. He instinctively jumped into the nearest fighter and joined two others as they launched themselves through the tubes.
Zhukarak wasn't even sure if he was the ranking officer or not. He would have to check. "This is LtCol Hrisvalar, is anyone in this attack wing of higher rank?"
"No sir!" Came the reply times two. "Then form on me."
The two other fighters formed up, one on each wing, making a delta formation. They flew in the direction of the Romulan shuttle, which the computer soon identified as that of Ambassador Tedak.
"This is Colonel Zhukarak Hrisvalar addressing the unidentified fighter. If you do not cease from firing, I will be forced to return fire. This is your only warning."
The fighter did not heed.
"Fighter wing, engage...break right." The other two Perigrines broke to the right for a flanking maneuver, while Zhuk remained on his current flight path.
"This is Perigrine Two, I have a lock...torpedo away."
A lone torpedo could be seen, closing in on the enemy fighter. Zhuk took this oppertunity to fire his own. As the first torpedo was about to impact, the fighter performed an evasive maneuver causing it to miss. What the fighter did not take into account was the second torpedo that Zhuk had launched. As it was launched a few seconds later and from another vector, it was able to score a direct hit as soon as the enemy fighter had finished its maneuver. A small explosion could be seen as the fighter disintegrated into a ball of fire.
"Ambassador Tedak, if I'm not mistaken. You are in the clear. We will escort you home." The three fighters surrounded the shuttle for maximum safety.

"Thank you Colonel Hrisvalar," Tedak replied, as he sighed with relief. While his shuttle possessed weapons that could sprout deadly force, they had been no match for their assaillant. "My gratitude for the offered escort back to the starbase, I'm sure we'll need it. Also, notify Doctor Mercy that I have a patient for him."
He held up his hand towards Saarok, who seemed about to protest. "Actually, I have two. We've taken quite a beating when we were under attack, and we've been rattled about in this vessel. If the admiral can spare it, I'd like to have a maintenance team take a look at my shuttle and see if it needs any repairs. My long range communication has been knocked offline, I am fortunate that you picked up my distress signal, I was starting to worry if it worked at all."
Once they were safely in spacedock, Tedak approached the Andorian. "Sir, do you have any idea who or what attacked us? They seemed to have come out of nowhere, though we picked them up once or twice after leaving Vulcan." He rubbed the back of his head again. "Though, I think the answer can wait until we've seen a medic. I fear I'm seeing two of you colonel, and I've no idea which one of you is the real one."

OOC: Magellan maybe you could clean out these off topic posts now that the matter is solved Saarok was able to recover to almost his full strength during the shuttle trip from Vulcan. And fortunately the attack from the assassins did not injure him too much. The Andorian that helped them out has certainly earned a point in his book he thought. But no matter, important things needed seeing to now. He tapped his comm. badge while Tedak was speaking to major Hrisvalar: =/\=Computer diplomatic override omega-1, initiate site to site transport for myself and ambassador Tedak to the location of Admiral Magellan Lin=/\= =/\=I have been told to request a command code in order to initiate a site to site transport=/\=, came the reply from Lily =/\=Computer authorize emergency computer clearance alpha-3, authorize Saarok, Ambassador rating 6, deputy director DCS, authorization code 1-1-9-zeta-zeta-green-red-1-6 execute=/\= =/\=Command code accepted, initiating transport=/\= And a few moments later Tedak and Saarok dematerialized in front of the eyes of the stunned major Hrisvalar and appeared in front of the even more shocked admiral Lin in OPS. "Admiral"; Saarok said when the transport was done, "Admiral Ambassador Tedak and I require to speak with you in private, it is a matter of utmost importance to the Starfleet Internal Affairs Department", Saarok finished waiting for Magellan to lead the way to his office

_/\_ Dr. Mercy. A high priority message has arrived via Starfleet Medical. It is a response to your inquiry over Ambassador Saarok. Also, Amdassadors Saarok and Tedak are back on station, currently in a meeting with Admiral Lin. _/\_
"Thank you Lily. Please display message at my terminal." Stuart leaned forward at his desk, anticipating what he was about to read.
>I have received your inquiry about the relationships of my parents. The woman you speak of, V'Shal is not my mother, nor ambassador Saaroks present wife. My mother and his wife is one, T'Pau. The Vulcan female you speak of as V'Shal does not strike me as a familiar name however as I am sure you know my father was never someone to reveal much of his past therefore I am unable to ascertain if they were ever bonded. I am afraid this is the extent of the help I can provide you. This message and all logs relating to it will be removed from your computer after you have viewed this it. The reason for this is simply for protection of all involved. Live long and prosper doctor. Dr. Salek, medical advisor to the federation council.<
That had settled it then, and confirmed the heritage of Ambassador Saarok. Stuart still wasn't quite sure why he was asked by Amb. Tedak to look into this.
A marine Colonel had chimed in earlier also, via the comm channels, and Stuart had made preparations for the Ambassadorial visit, but now they were in conference with the Admiral. Things sure were funny around here. As if he hadn't enough to do with this virus, to be given the 'hurry up and wait' routine.

Post by Harrias Jira on Sept 14, 2005 13:05:03 GMT
Harrias was walking slowly along the corridors of Assailant. It seemed so long since he had last been here, and yet nothing had really changed. The truth of course, was that it had been far less than a year since he had walked them before, and on a starbase such as Assailant, very little changed in such a time. Oh, of course, there were different traders in the market place, and plenty of new faces among the crew. But at the same time, there were many of the same traders, who nodded to him in greeting as he passed, and a few of the crew members he passed also seemed familiar, although on a starbase the sheer size of it meant that the crew may not have changed at all, and he would still know less than a quarter by sight, and maybe only a tenth by name.
The Nevada was undergoing some much needed repairs at the moment, while the various members of his crew had peeled off to undertake tasks of their own, or even take some leave time. Grace and the Doctor were investigating the Angel crew, while Zhuk he had heard had just gone off in the fighter squadron. He wasn’t sure what Frek and the science officer were up to, although he suspected that Frek was either going to come back covered in plasters, or with florescent yellow hair. As for the trill captain, he was just taking a break. Although he was sure that there were many jobs that he could do, not least trying to discover who the missing four Angel crew members were, he had decided that a short rest would be the best thing he could do at the moment.
A few minutes later, Harrias had found that his feet had taken him to the operations centre of Assailant. He glanced in through the door, and found an unusual sight. Or, he thought to himself, the usual kind of sight on Assailant. Through the door Ambassadors Tedak and Saarok were stood and in front of them Admiral Lin and Colonel Hrisvalar, who looked like they had been talking, were staring at them in shock.
Harrias was moved to tap the chime to request entrance, but before he could do so, the door slid open, and Colonel Hrisvalar stalked out.
- “No gratitude at all. None at all.” Harrias tilted his head slightly questionly. - “Colonel?” - “I save their lives, but now they boot me out and expect a private meeting with the Admiral. And look, he accepts it too.” He sighed. “If you don’t mind Captain, I have some things to sort out.” - “Of course Colonel. I think I’m going to ruffle some feathers.”
He smiled at his first officer, and then walked through the still open door into Ops. He quickened his pace so that he managed to get across the large room and to the door of Lin’s office before it had quite finished closing. The door on his arrival reopened, and the trill Captain stepped in through the door.
- “Admiral. Ambassadors.” He nodded his head in greeting. - “Captain? I was just about to have a meeting with the Ambassadors. Is there anything I can help you with?” - “No, no Admiral. I was just hoping to listen to what they had to say. You do, I believe, remember my credentials here?” He smiled wide. Although Magellan had never been happy with some parts of Harrias’ career, he had learned to accept them, and Harrias just hoped that he didn’t see this as a power play, but simply as something that Harrias needed to do. - “Indeed.” Harrias’ smiled dropped. Though his superior had agreed to his staying, he clearly wasn’t happy about it. The trills’ friendship had always had this elephant in the corner, and jira just hoped he could keep it in the corner, and not let it come into the open. - “Admiral! I demand a private meeting!” Saarok’s voice remained level, but firm. - “He will stay. He has more than enough clearance Ambassador.”
The Vulcan’s eyes narrowed, but he sat down, his back to Harrias, clearly manoeuvring to exclude him as much as possible.

"His clearance is not the issue here admiral", Saarok said, "Allowing him to stay would create more problems and we have enough as it is, i do not intend to expand them, no offense to you of course captain, but this is a matter best discussed between the 3 of us, without the captain", Saarok said, "And if you are so intent on having him sit here I will not be able to reveal the things I was about to reveal. Some of them concerning my health which is a private matter and the clearance level he has will not convince me to say what I have with him here. Further more, I refuse to endanger more lives then needed in order to satisfy ones interest in matters which are best left know to the fewest people possible. But this, what I have to say will unleash a Pandora’s Box if it ever departs this room. Further more I hereby declare the matter classified information of which no record is to exist. I therefore request that all internal sensors in this room are disconnected and all access sealed during our conversation.", Saarok said, "And I assure you I posses the high enough clearance to request this. And I warn you again that when I say what I have to say you will all be in danger. And as you are already aware there have been several attempts on my life recently and there will be more and by telling you what I have to you will become a target and I desire to ... protect the captain from that experience, as there will be a very slim chance for him to make it out alive if they find out what he knows and I will be unable to prevent his assassination, and do not fool yourselves no matter what or how many security officers you assign to guard him they will not save him, I assure you.", he said looking at the trill Captain, "Therefore I once again imply that for the safety of us all, it is logical that this matter be restricted only to the people who need to know and the Captain is not one of those people therefore it would be illogical to include him.", he finished

Magellan sighed, "Very well Ambassador. Captain Jira does have the clearance but I ll acceed to your request for the timebeing." Harrias looked up and Magellan usehered him to the door, "Just go with it old friend, these two have been up to their adventures again, and its best I deal with this alone. I ll try and catch up with you before you leave. If its anything important I ll let you know" "Okay - I ll hold you to that." With Jira gone Magellan settled back in his chair. "Okay then Ambassadors - what have you been done now? Getting shot at is becoming the norm for you two."

Within the bowls of the Stations ventilation systems the hunter killer drone snapped back to life. The computer system registered that the Target was back aboard. It had gone dormant when it had left 10 days ago, but now the target had returned it booted up and began to trace a path that would enable it to complete its mission.

Down in Sickbay Gremmel lay as still as he could. The room was cold and he felt sluggish. He could barely concentrate. He felt so ill, so weak, part of it was being away from 'The Pacifier' but most of it was due to it. Why hadnt the relief shift arrived, why had he been forced to work another hundred years, a hundred years that had fried his brain and left him in such a poor state. Groggily he got to his feet. Perhaps that dash through the strange station hadnt been a good idea - but he had paniced and fear made you do strange things - and now he felt worse than ever. Where was he? He could vaguely remember a ship arriving, people, lights shining at him and then... and then nothing till he was here. He staggered across the small room, enclosed by plexiglass windows. A nurse turned and saw him in surprise she dropped her tray, the noise caused Dr's Mercy and Melain to turn. "Hes awake again" she said, Mercy moved swiftly over to the outside of the room, "Contact Security - we dont want him escaping again. Oh and tell them to wait outside I dont want Security Thugs clogging up the place." "Aye sir" "This is the alien found on teh Angel" Mercy explained to Melain, "hes spent most of his time in a coma, when he did wake he ran off." Gremmel staggered forward a few steps and beagn to speak, "Trek la nor topay. Trek la nor topay - Kamet rik chee, rik chee" Mercy shook his head, "Lily. Can you recalibrate the Universal Translator?" "I will try. It is not in my database. I will extrapolate." "I will?" Lorre questioned at the computers informal tone. "Its a long story" Mercy replied, "Lily is Assaialnts compute system. She is also sentient" "Calibration complete" "Trek la...back. You must send me... Kamet rik Die..." With that Gremmel staggered once more and collapsed his strength spent.

After Captain Jira departed from Magellan’s office, the admiral order the computer to seal of the room and to disable all internal sensors.
"There you go ambassador, no one outside of this room will hear what you have to say to me now"; Magellan said
"I will get right down to the point", he said
"The satisfactory news are that I have regained my memory well most of it at least, I still do not remember nor will I ever, who or what 'caused my memory loss.", he started
"Having regained my memory I have remembered my past, who I was and what i did and also who V'Shal the person who claimed to be my wife is. And ... I used to be the director of the Starfleet Internal Affairs Department, however when ambassador Spock requested that I take the place as ambassador for the Federation I retired from my fleet rank and took an ambassadorial rank. I have however named a successor who was to take my place, but as you might think I did not vanish from the scene completely, I still possessed a certain level of influence over the department, well in the human terms which are more familiar to you i still called the shots, and things I requested got done.", he paused
"However after my little incident with the unknown power source and loosing my memory i obviously did not remember anymore who i was nor what I did and for a time the SIAD scientists worked on finding a way to get my memory back however after a certain amount of time certain people from within, or should i say V'Shal convinced one of the deputy directors that i posed a risk to the federation and that I’d be better left of without remembering what i did or who i used to be. And she also convinced him that the new Director, whom i picked out myself, was blinded with loyalty towards me and posed a risk.", he paused and looked at Magellan who seemed to be listening closely
"So through certain tricks and double-crossing the deputy director managed to get the director thrown out and tagged him as a threat to the federation in accordance with Special Order 66715. But the director was more intelligent than the deputy predicted and he, with the help of a few loyal men, managed to secure the results and equipment on which the scientist were working and which could restore my memory, stole a runabout and went into hiding.", Saarok said and paused to take a breath
"After their plan failed V'Shal thought up another one, she put a bounty on my head in order to get me to lead her to my safe house where she was able to obtain a list of SIAD secret agents and which she now intends to sell to the highest bidder.", he said
"Now as you can see SIAD still thinks i am the enemy and our first course would be to make them worry about something else for a while as i can not risk having men loyal to the new director get in my way while I am attempting to capture V'Shal and .... ensure that the list will not fall into enemy hands and that she will not speak of it ever again.", he said
"Now the first thing we need to do, and this is where you come in, is this. I need you to order that my personal security force which consist of 6 men are arrested and thrown in the brig as they are actually from SIAD and i can not risk having them run around here, but make sure that you invert the polarity of the containment field in the brig and that the field covers a phase variance of .5 otherwise you will not be able to keep them inside. Then i will establish a link with SIAD and disable their computer system with my override codes which still function as they are encoded in the computer core itself and still function. This will provide a long enough distraction for me to do what i need to.", he resumed
"After that is done, I will visit a .... friend here on base, someone you know, the Mayor, Mr. Simeth and convince him to assist me with finding V'Shal, and i assure you he can help me and he will", he paused
"After that, my friends from Vulcan, who helped me get my memory back, will arrived here with their ship but do not be preoccupied you will not be able to detect it is stolen as they have altered their signature. And we will use it to hijack one of the SIAD's larger ships by duplicating a signal from SIAD and telling them a rear admiral Sovar will be coming on board to take command. Now with the help of your doctor i will alter my appearance which will make it impossible for them to see that I am really that admiral. And with the help of the larger ship i will hunt down V’Shal and her friends and they will be taken care of in accordance with Special Order 66715. After which i will have all the evidence i need to restore order to SIAD and get the rightful man back into command and put the one who has taken over where he belongs in accordance with the Special Order 66715.", Saarok finished

After their hurried transport to the admiral's office, Tedak felt extremely dizzy and the room was spinning before his eyes. On top of that, the many voices in the room were too loud and he found himself unable to concentrate on any of them. Fortunately, soon Admiral Lin ushered Captain Jira out of the room, and he found himself surprised that he wasn't escorted out either. His own security codes were nowhere near that of Jira, even though, as diplomat, he did have certain high clearances Jira might not have. However, Tedak knew they wouldn't be nearly enough for the classified material he knew Saarok was about to reveal.
He sat down heavily in the nearest chair, which happened to be the seat Magellan had been occupying earlier. Briefly, he wondered where his pets had gone off too, then remembered that he had explicitly told them to remain with his son at all times, no matter what. Rubbing his head, he groggily gazed up at Lin and Saarok, and listened in silence as Saarok launched into a detailed explanation of what had been going on. Much, he already knew, but he had no idea what a SIAD was. Nor could he really be bothered to remember right now.
After Saarok was done, he finally spoke up. "That's all good and well, but where do I fit in?" he finally asked, "I doubt I can be of help, and right now I'd rather be somewhere else. And so should you." He gave a meaningful glance at Mercy, who was waiting outside the office.

Magellan listened carefully to Saaroks story knowing full well there was more to it than that. He suspected, reading between the lines, that SIAD was just a front for an organisation he'd heard of - Section 31. He was not comfortable with secret organisations of any form, and especially not when an Ambassador from another, formerly hostile, nation was present. "So what do you want me to do?" "Well you can start with locking up my security detail" Magellan nodded and tapped his comm badge - he spoke briefly to Tomlinson and then turned back to Saarok "Done." "Next we need V'Shals description circulated and the owner of a Vulcan Ship who goes by the name Sopek located." "That will be harder to... Hang on. Sopek? He was here 10 days go. I have his registry on file." Magellan ran his hands over the console, "Ah yes here it is - Reg: VC 12-56A, probably fake but its ID tag was picked up near the Remati Array in the Golanic Cluster." "Orion Space?" Tedak suggested, "Farius Prime" Saarok noted coolly "Shes going to sell the list to the syndicate." "Now that can't be allowed - I ll contact the closest starship and prepare an intercept." "Thankyou Admiral" Saarok nodded and left with Tedak. Tedak looked puzzled and stopped his friend. "Your just letting the Admiral deal with it? V'Shal will run rings around a starfleet crew." "V'Shal ran rings around us." Saarok noted dryly and Tedak nodded somberly the embarassement still raw, "But that... was before I got my memory back. Get your shuttle warmed up- we're going to Farius Prime"

We have been friends for a while now and he still does not know me Saarok thought as he and Tedak were leaving Magellans office.
"You should see dr. Mercy now while I take care of some things here on base, after which you and me, that is if you wish to accompany me, will proceed to Farius Prime and show my dear wife i am not getting old... yet.", he said as dr. Mercy came up to them
<Tag Tedak, Mercy>
After he left the ailing Tedak in Dr. Mercy's care, he proceeded down to the lift which he then descended to his private office which was a part of his personal quarters on the VIP level. When he arrived to his door his two firelizards greeted him by flying around him. Follow Drolem Simeth but do not allow him to see you, he thought as he looked at Aeris. A few moments later she vanished into thin air. Keep an eye on ambassador Tedak if he says something he should not alert me, he thought and his other firelizard vanished as well.
After he entered his office he went to his desk and sat down. He activated his computer:
=/\=Computer open, secure and encode a channel with array number 173=/\=
=/\=System could not locate array number 173, channel could not be opened=/\=
=/\=Computer open a secure, encoded channel with coordinates 231-569-85 =/\=
=/\=Channel opened=/\=
=/\=Frequency 173.31, subdirectory 31=/\=
=/\=Processing...=/\=
=/\=Please enter computer clearance level access code to open the channel=/\=
=/\=Emergency computer clearance alpha-4, authorize Suvok, computer specialist level omega-1, blue-green-red-blue-1-1-5-9=/\=
=/\=Opening channel..... channel opened=/\=
And a few moments later a face of a Human/Betazoid male dressed in a black uniform with the pips of commodore appeared on screen.
"Yes.... you", the man son the other side said
"Shocked to see me are you? Thought that V'Shal killed me and therefore secured your new position did you? That was highly illogical as that would not have helped her goal you were naive to trust her, and that mistake will cost you your life", Saarok said
"You dare to threaten me! » the man yelled while his face became pale and his voice less secure
"I do not threaten I promise, and I promise that soon you will join all those people you killed on a new plane of existence", Saarok said
"You... you wouldn't", the mans started
"I will and would, had you not been as greedy as the worst of the Ferengi you could have led a comfortable life but you decided to proceed illogically and therefore must pay for it. If you look on the computer display on the right side of you will notice in a few seconds that emergency protocol theta 4-1 will be initialized which will disable your entire computer network and comm. array and you will not be able to reactivate it. Also do not attempt to contact your agents on this base as they have all been arrested and thrown in the brig.", he resumed
"And as soon as I settle the score with ... Mrs. Saarok I will come after you", Saarok said
"Wait....", the man shouted but to no avail
=/\=Computer send order theta-41 with the activation code imega-21-red-blue-initialize=/\=
=/\=Transmitting.... comm. channel terminated, array at coordinates 231-569-85 is no longer operational=/\=
Do not underestimate your opponents as a human saying says Saarok thought as he rose from his seat. He went over to the back of his officer where a pad was build into the bulkhead and actually was a hidden locker. After he typed in a few codes the door slid sideways revealing a closet which contained several pieces of equipment including some clothes and weapons.
He took of his diplomatic robes and put on a black uniform and a utility belt that contained a tricoder and two odd looking phasers. He took of his usual commbadge and attached another which was equipped with a special site to site transporter. He removed the rear admiral pips which were attached to the robe and put them in a pocket of his uniform. He tied on a knife around his right angle and an additional smaller phaser around his left one. And then he was ready for some.... cowboy diplomacy as Jean-Luc Picard would call it.
He tapped his comm. badge and transported himself to sickbay. When he materialized he saw a shocked face from Dr. Mercy at his sudden arrival.
"Dr. I require some assistance", he began and explained mercy he wanted him to change his appearance so he would look like a human
"I require it to be done ASAP doctor it is a matter of life or death."; he said
<Tag Mercy>
After Mercy finally agreed to do it, he moved over to his romulan friend who was lying on one of the biobed nearby.
"Feeling any better friend?"; he asked
<Tag Tedak>
"Have you decided if you are going to come with me or stay behind?", he asked
