Magellan returned to his office. He carried a PaDD containing all the logs of the Tigersharks senior staff. It would take him awhile to go through them personally. Luckily he trusted Keztreks judgement.
He settled back in to his chair and left Zoilip in charge of Ops. He put down the PaDD and rested his chin on steepled fingers, his new favoured thinking posture.
Reaching a decision he turned to his comm terminal.
"Lily, please connect me to Starfleet Headquarters"
=^= Which department Admiral=^= the computers soft feminine voice replied.
"Department of Temporal Investigations. And then put me through To Admiral at Fleet Operations."
=^=Yes Admiral=^=
Magellan leaned back and waited for him to be passed through minor functionarys until he reached the Director,
"Hi Horonatti" he greeted,
"Lin, its been a long while."
"The conference on Babel last year"
Horonatti frowned
"Your speech must have been forgettable. I can guess what your calling about. Drago?"
"News always did travel fast to your ears."
Horonatti shrugged
"I m surprised you your agents havent arrived yet."
"They are on the way."
"Not Dulmer and Lucsly?"
"Oh no they retired last year"
"Good, they got right up my nose. You have read Dowdings file havent you."
"Yes."
"And you expect him to tell Fleet Intelligience anything."
"Probably not. But we cant take the risk. Intell will try and get all they can about the future from him."
Magellan shook his head
"Luke... Lex.... Drago whatever he calls himself is unlikely to tell."
"I know that, you know that but Fleet Intell will just pull rank and take him anyway."
"So you ll take him first to protect the timeline."
"Its my job Lin"
Magellan sighed,
"But we;d be loosing a highly qualified officer, one who is more qualified than the old luke, young luke, whatever."
Horonatti shook his head,
"My hands are tied, he must be put under our 'secure' care."
"Blast internal politics. Hang on a moment. I may have a compromise. Section 47 has its own Intel Unit."
"So?"
"So if he remains in the First Fleet of S47 then Fleet Intell can't touch him"
Horonatti shook his head again,
"His unassigned and besides he has JAG charges for stealing the ship"
Magellans eye twinkled,
"Except that he didnt steal it - Dowding did. When and if Dowding returns he will be charged."
"He can't possibly remain on teh Tigershark though. He needs to be punished in some way."
Magellan paused,
"Leave that to me - I believe taking him from teh Tigershark will be punishment, and besides I have the perfect position for someone of his experience. Somewhere he will have to behave and somewhere I can keep a close eye on him"
Horonatti looked sceptical,
"Very Well Lin. On your head be it. If theres a Temporal Infraction I ll have your pips. Drago is yours. Do with him as you will, just keep him out of intells hands."
"Will do Doug. Talk to you soon"
"Bah I hope not your trouble Horonatti Out"
