Stuart finished up with his emergency cases, with Tedak's help. Unfortunately one of the men was too far gone for treatment. The other had severe phaser burns to his chest, but they were able to get him stabilized and treated. Stuart placed his equipment away and took his gloves off.
"Thank you Ambassador Tedak, you've been a great help."
Tedak thank Stuart for allowing to help. He mentioned how he would like to check on T'Val, but knew that it would probably do more harm than good in her current situation. He departed for his office instead.
As soon as Stuart had gotten cleaned up, he went over to where he had left T'Val. Upon reaching her area he witnessed how she and Ambassador Saarok had just completed what appeared to be a mindmeld. He immediately rushed to her. "What in Galaxy's name are you doing? I know that you're going to tell me that you know what you're doing and it was all perfectly safe and all...but she is my patient here in my infirmary...you had no right..."
Stuart took T'val into his arms for reassurance, not sure what had just transpired. He knew that he was being a bit harsh, but seeing T'Val having been in harms way was quite a strain on him as well.

"My dear doctor, if a person agrees to take part in something... it is not your place to say if I had a right to do something or not... Now I know the reason you are concerned for her is not because she is your patient but because she is your... because you love her. But still that is no reason, nor does it give you any authority to say I had no right to do or not do anything she has agreed to do."; Saarok said as he rose from his seat
"Now if you will excuse me doctor... I have done all I could do here. T'Val", Saarok said as he left the two alone
As he exited sickbay he was greeted by his two guards and one of them had received a message from a messenger earlier.
"He wanted to go in and see you sir, but we did not allow it", the Klingon guard said
"That is fine, now what was the message?", Saarok asked
"Customs report the arrival of a group of Romulan diplomats", the guard said
"That is... unexpected", Saarok said, "What was the unusual aspect of it?", Saarok asked
"Sir... one of them had the Ambassador level access", the guard said
"Ambassador level you say? Intriguing, but highly illogical to have two Romulan diplomats on base. ", Saarok said as he noticed Tedak exiting from sickbay
"Ah, Ambassador Tedak"; Saarok said as he went towards him his guards behind him
"There has been a... development. Perhaps you will be able to clarify it for me. Customs report the arrival of three Romulan Diplomats on base. Would you be in possession of any information that might illuminate the reason for their unexpected arrival?", Saarok asked

T'Val T'Val felt safe in Mercy's embrace, as her mind was still working to comprehend what she had just experienced. She felt calmer for now, and realized that Saarok indeed understood what she had experienced. She wasn't as alone as she felt; she had the love of her human partner, the love of her ex-husband, and several close friendships. And she had the love of her child.
She leaned back at Stuart, glanced up and smiled uncertainly. "It is all right," she whispered, "Ambassador Saarok has been of great assistance to me. He has shown me that I am not alone in my experience and he has given me an option on how to deal with it. I will explain it to you at length after we get home, I promise."
~home~ she thought, smiling as she remembered finally moving in together. Though she hadn't filed the request with Magellan and the quartermaster yet, she knew where she'd be spending the night. Yade warbled happily, hopping down onto the bed from her perch on the monitor at the foot of the bed.
She certainly was feeling much better than before Saarok had approached her, and she was very grateful to him. The Vulcan watched him catch up with Tedak as they left sickbay, then she turned towards Stuart. "Really, he has helped me. I am feeling much better. No more terror, less confusion and certainly happy." Her smile widened as she brushed her hand past his cheek, then leaning in for a passionate kiss. "And we still have to tell Magellan," she whispered between kisses.
Tedak "There has been a... development. Perhaps you will be able to clarify it for me. Customs report the arrival of three Romulan Diplomats on base. Would you be in possession of any information that might illuminate the reason for their unexpected arrival?", Saarok asked as he caught up with the Romulan diplomat.
"I beg your pardon?" Tedak querried, "Romulan diplomats have arrived? What for? I have not received any information about Romulans coming to the station." He tapped his combadge. "Lily, where are those Romulan diplomats that have just arrived?"
"They are in the ambassador's office," Lily replied, sounding almost angry.
"And why are they here?"
"I'm afraid I can't give you that information Teeedak," Lily answered, more anger filtering into her voice, "if I do, I'll be punished, I'm sorry."
Now it was Tedak's turn to sound angry as he recited his diplomatic codes. "Those should be sufficient."
"Codes not recognized," Lily replied, "they've been revoked."
"What!" Tedak turned to Saarok, raising a questioning eyebrow. "On whose authority?"
"On the authority of the Romulan ambassador."
The Romulan sighed. "I am the Romulan ambassador Lily, if this is your idea of a practical joke it's not working."
"It is not," Lily quipped back.
"Fine," Tedak replied, then pulled Saarok along. "Magellan has some explaining to do." When they finally located the Trill, Tedak was so angry that he couldn't be bothered to knock. "Is this your doing?" he demanded, "my replacement, couldn't you have talked to me first?"

Joint Post between Magellan and Tedak
Magellan stared at the Ambassadors a moment and tightly reined in his rising anger, luckily he had just taken an Isoboramine shot.
"Ambassador Tedak, I am a Starfleet Officer - I run this base, I oversee the colonisation of Qualinost, I have command of the First Fleet in none of these capacitys do I personnally have the ability to remove a foriegn diplomat from office. Might I suggest you gather some facts before storming in here."
Tedak scowled at the Trill's words, but took heed of them. "I apologize," he answered, "it seems my clearance codes have been revoked. Lily would not tell me who is in my office after I issued my codes. Instead she told me she could not recognize them. What is going on admiral?"
Magellan sighed deeply but continued to oblige the Ambassador as best as he could, "That is because it is not up to Lily who knows what. Lily is a Starfleet Computer and as such must respond to Starfleet ahead of anyone else. You only had limited access whilst your codes remained active, now if you check and find that your codes have been changed by mistake then contact Chief Alari and he will fix it. Now if you dont mind I have a stack of crew evaluations to go through"
Tedak harumped and turning on his heel left the room. He stalked through the halls of the Starbase and down to the Diplomatic level
"Ah Ambassador I m glad your here" Nelon said uncomfortably rushing up to Tedak as he entered the Romulan Embassy "We... err well... theres someone in your office for you"
"Yes I know," the Romulan replied, "I trust you have tried barring their entrance? No, don't be alarmed, I doubt there's any fault on your part. Who is in my office?"
"Sir He has all the correct papers, I m just doing my job..." Nelon was interrupted by the door opening and a voice echoing out,
"Is that Citizen Tedak, please, send him in"
"I do" A tall dark Romulan stood in the doorway, "I thought we should discuss this civilly in my office"
"My office," Tedak replied, "that is my office, and you are tresspassing."
Then he glared at the other Romulan. "And I have yet to hear your name."
"Oh please forgive my manners I am Vebn s'Khellian, and this office Romulan property, not yours. I have been sent by the Senate to replace you"
"Really," Tedak quipped, "I sincerely doubt that. And this office is Federation property, not Romulan."
Vebn sighed, "It is convention that all Embassies form sovereign territory. Either way the Diplomatic Office has finally had enough of your actions. As of now you are relieved of your duties here." he handed Tedak a PaDD.
"They can't do that," Tedak scowled, taking the padd and smashing it down hard on the desk, "and I'm not accepting this. Now get out of my office." He balled his left hand into a fist, but smartly kept it out of view. Behind him, Nelon could see the Romulan diplomat starting to get furious and held his breath.
"I m afraid they can - the orders are legitimate, signed by the Praetor. I had heard you were somewhat impulsive, please do not force me to have you removed from this embassy." Vebn replied with a cool smile.
"Try me," Tedak challenged, this time positioning his hand on his Honour Blade, which was concealed in his robes. "I do not acknowledge you as my replacement."
Vebn sighed, "This is very sad. Nelon have our security guards remove Tedak from the Embassy and alert Base Security as well. It is only fair to alert our erstwhile allies"
Nelon hovered a moment and then looked plaintivley at Tedak, " I m sorry sir, but all the papers are in order. Its all been authenticated, please go peacefully" As he did so he pressed the summon button and 3 Romulan Centurions emerged from a side office.
Tedak glared at the new 'diplomat', then took a step back so that he was just outside the office. "You haven't heard the last of this, I'll have this investigated."
"Please do so. When you have calmed down perhaps we would be able to go through the reasoning and what the diplomatic office now expects of you. But that must wait for now. I dont expect you to brief me. I will get what I need from Nelon. Jolan tru Tedak" with that Vebn retreated back into the office.
Tedak ignored the new diplomat's greeting. "I have no intention of briefing that impostor," he told Nelon. "If you need me, I will be in my quarters. It seems that now I have all the time I need to care for my son. I'm sure T'Val will appreciate a full time caretaker for our child, other than a nanny."
With that, he turned on his heels and went down to the habitat level to do as he said he would: spend time with D'Beren.

After Tedak stormed out of Magellan’s office, Saarok decided not to go after him. This appeared to be an internal Romulan matter and at this time he should not interfere with it. There were official channels through which he could determine the reason of this visit, although he already could derive a logical solution for the issue. However at times like these it was better to avoid any speculation no matter how correct they may be.
"Admiral"; Saarok said to Lin as he nodded with his head and left the office
=/\=Ambassador Saarok to Ambassador Ezdreiana.=/\=
=/\=Ezdreiana here, go ahead Ambassador=/\=
=/\=I have an... assignment for you. Meet me in my office=/\=
=/\=Understood, Ezdreiana out=/\=
After finishing the conversation, Saarok proceeded to the diplomatic level where the federation embassy was located. It took him some time to arrive there but once he did he dismissed his guards and entered his office passing through rows of desk filled out with various Federation diplomats and clerks. After he arrived to the entrance of his private office, he typed his access codes and the doors slid open. After he sat down and pulled out a blank pad.
=/\=Computer, formulate an official diplomatic note=/\=
=/\=Please specify the receiver of the note, Ambassador=/\=
=/\=Romulan Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets stationed on Starbase Assaillant, Starfleet Registry 1147 Ournal I Class Station, Diplomatic Level, Romulan Embassy=/\=
=/\=Please provide the contents of the diplomatic note=/\=
=/\=Ambassador...insert his name here.... my name is Ambassador Saarok of Vulcan. I am the highest diplomatic representative of the United Federation of Planets in this Sector. It is my honor and duty to welcome you to Starbase Assaillant and to the United Federation of Planets. In light of the good relations between our two people I would like to extend this invite for a meeting on the highest level. It will be fruitful for both our people if we were to share our vision for the development of relations between our people at the beginning. A diplomatic reception will be held in your honor in the Fishtank restaurant. The barer of this note can provide you with the necessary information regarding the reception should you chose to accept this invite.=/\=
=/\=How do you wish to sign this message=/\=
=/\=Use the official seal of the Federation Council, Office of the Federation President and office of the Diplomatic Crops along with the seal of the Ambassador of Vulcan.=/\=
=/\=Message formulated... how do you wish to proceed.=/\=
=/\=Transfer the note to this pad=/\=
=/\=Note transferred=/\=
After the note was transferred to the pad, Saarok heard the bell on his door chime.
"Enter", he said
"You wanted to see me Ambassador", Ezdreiana asked as she entered the office
"Yes, we seem to have a new representative of the Romulan Star Empire on base. I want you to take this diplomatic note to him", he said giving her the pad, "And to make sure he provides you with an answer if he agrees to the meeting. Inform him that the reception will be held at the Fishtank tonight at 2000 hours.", Saarok said
After Ezdreiana left his office to go and deliver the pad to the Ambassador, Saarok leaned back in his chair and connected the tips of his fingers.
=/\=Lily, inform Admiral Lin that we will hold a reception for the Romulan Diplomats who have arrived on station tonight at 2000 hours. I want him and his senior staff to attend. Then inform the Fishtank personnel to prepare the reception and to make sure there will be food which is appropriate for all species.=/\=
=/\=Right away Ambassador=/\=
After that was done, all Saarok could do was wait...

"My dear doctor, if a person agrees to take part in something... it is not your place to say if I had a right to do something or not... Now I know the reason you are concerned for her is not because she is your patient but because she is your... because you love her. But still that is no reason, nor does it give you any authority to say I had no right to do or not do anything she has agreed to do."
Stuart was fuming; he couldn’t believe the audacity of the Ambassador. He got directly in his face and gave him a piece of his mind.
“Like hell it doesn’t! Now you look, Ambassador…yes, I do love her, but the fact of the matter remains that she is still my patient and while anyone is under the care of a Starfleet medical facility run by a Starfleet medical officer they are not to be ‘tampered’ with without that doctor’s knowledge and consent. It doesn’t matter if you had her consent or not, if she hadn’t been a patient it would have been different. So you see I do have the right and the authority! I also have the authority to have charges brought up on you and at the very least have you escorted out of here.” Stuart returned to T’Val’s side as Saarok began to exit the area. Stuart had calmed down just a bit when he called out to him. Saarok turned to hear what else he had to say. “I do appreciate your care and concern, but as per protocol and courtesy all you had to do was ask.” Ambassador Saarok simply bowed his head in acknowledgement and left.
T’Val reassured Stuart that all was alright. Stuart had never been so worked up before, but he was right not just because he loved her but because she was his patient. T’Val mentioned that they still needed to see Magellan about their quarters and all that. Stuart helped her rise off the biobed. “Come, your vitals are fine and you are fit for duty. I’ve just finished up with everything that needs to be done. So why don’t we go and see the Admiral now and get that out of the way. I can make some more in-depth scans of him as well.”
Together they left the infirmary to get to Ops.

=/\=Ambassador Saarok to Ambassador Ezdreiana.=/\=
=/\=Ezdreiana here, go ahead Ambassador=/\=

=/\=Understood, Ezdreiana out=/\=
Ezdreiana knew something big was happening, but right now she couldn't pinpoint what that was. She had heard of new ambassadors and hoped that Saarok was calling her in to tell her of the situation. These questions prompted her to hurry towards his office and she arrived in record time. She waited only seconds to be admitted to Saarok's office.
"You wanted to see me Ambassador,",Ezdreiana asked as she entered the office
"Yes, we seem to have a new representative of the Romulan Star Empire on base. I want you to take this diplomatic note to him", he said giving her the pad, "And to make sure he provides you with an answer if he agrees to the meeting. Inform him that the reception will be held at the Fishtank tonight at 2000 hours.", Saarok said
Ezdreiana took the padd and quickly headed out of his office. She didn't have to read the padd to know what it said. Normally she would think this task a waste of her time, but she knew that it would be invaluable for her. A great thing being married to a Vulcan was the fact that you were able to pick up on the slightest change in body langauge and emotion.
As she approached the Romulan embassy, she noticed higher security. Normally there would only be one centurion outside the Romulan Embassay, but presently there were four.
"State your purpose," one of them said as Ezdreiana tried to pass.
"Let me through, I unlike you belong here," Ezdreiana said and without thinking twice made her way inside. As she entered the waiting room, Nelon rose to call the centurion's off.
"Thank you Nelon," Ezdreiana said remembering Tedak's assistant's name.
"He's waiting for you," Nelon said as he notified his boss that she was going to meet him. Ezdreiana thanked him once again and walked into the office.
"Ah..Ambassador Ezdreiana I'm...," the Romulan said standing.
"Vebn s'Khellian, I know who you are," Ezdreiana said cutting him off. Her response surprised him a bit, which was her intention. She pride herself in being a strong women and she wouldn't let him see her any other way.
"I'm here to give you this," Ezdreiana said her voice as strong as ever, but making sure that she didn't coem off as hostile. It didn't take long for him to finish the pad, but in that time she had plenty of time to check him out. The only problem was that she couldn't pinpoint what she thought of him.
"Well Ambassador will you be joining us this evening?" Ezdreiana asked tired of waiting for response.

Vebn eyed the Trill with a mix of distaste and boredom.
"Of course I would be delighted. It makes sense to meet all of my fellow diplomats at one time, it makes for a...productive relationship. I trust Elder Ji'Zahn will be present? He is after all the primary reason for a Romulan diplomatic office on this station"
"I would assume so" Ezdreiana replied, making a mental note to check Ji'zahn would be there.
"Then please extend my thanks to Mr Saarok and tell him I will see him tonight, I may just have settled in by then" Vebn said with a curt half bow.
As Ezdreiana left the Romulan Embassy and exited the diplomatic level she was approached by one of the Talaxian refugees,
"Ma'am" he said with a bob, "Yes... Maxon isnt it?"
"Err yes, can you help me - I m rather bewildered by everything, I was wondering could someone fill me in on where we are and stuff. Jolant, the Cardassian in our group is an Alphie but hes clammed up since our rescue"

After Tedak had left Magellan tried to focus on the crew reports but found himself, fidgetty and irritable. The door sounded.
"Enter"
Dr Mercy and T'Val entered, the Vulcan with her arm slipped through his. Magellan scowled, he disaaproved with the duplicitous way in which their relationship had developed, he was just glad Mercy had done as ordered and not allowed it to escalate to a major diplomatic incident.
"What can I do for you Doctors, I hope this isnt about more tests? I m fine"
Stuart looked at T'Val and she activated a tricorder in her bag
"Not really sir. Its more a request."
"Well request away" Magellan said with a wave of a hand.
"Well T'Val and I are planning to move in together and... well I only have officers quarters, and T'Val only has space for her and D'Beren."
"I see, and so you want to ask for family quarters?"
"Yes sir"
Magellan looked down and called up a file on his terminal,
"Should be a problem. Theres a opening on F deck of the Habitat Level. It won't be as palatial as the Diplomatic Quarters but they should be fine. Talk to Leiutenant Tornet - the Quartermaster, he should be able to sort the details."
"Thankyou" T'Val replied,
"Before I forget - dust off your Dress Uniform - function for the new Romulan Ambassador in the Fishtank tonight. Partners are permitted."

T'Val and Stuart exchanged a very surprised glance. "Did we just hear you correctly?" T'Val querried, "because I am certain you said new Romulan ambassador. Did Tedak resign?"
When Magellan irritably shook his head, T'Val raised an eyebrow in response. "No I did not think so, otherwise he would have told me. He was in sickbay earlier in his capacity as diplomat." She glanced at Stuart again. "Seems we need to pay this new diplomat a visit then, and ask for clarification if that is permitted. I am certain Tedak will not take this well."
"He didn't," Magellan replied curtly, "now if you will excuse me, I have work to do."
"Partners are allowed to attend," T'Val smirked at Stuart, "it seems we ought to attend together then?" She hooked her arm through his again. "Thank you for allowing us to move in together admiral," she smiled, "we have some news to share soon. I promise you will hear soon." ~when you are in a better mood~ she thought, knowing Stuart would catch the thought.
Once they stood outside the office, T'Val's smile disappeared like the sun behind clouds. "I wonder what happened that Tedak got replaced. I know he would not just resign. I am curious, however who did replace him, and why. Will you pick me up prior to the reception?"

Voran tapped the door chime and, after a brief pause, heard "Come in," and entered.
The Talaxian, Maxon was sitting on a sofa under the space windows, but stood up on seeing Voran enter.
"Captain Voran, welcome, what can I do for you?"
"I just came to see how you and your people were getting on?" Said Voran.
<Maxon>
"Good. I must say, I was curious upon first seeing your group; quite a diverse collection of people, from different quadrants of the galaxy, indeed. I was wondering, how did you come to be together?"

Maxon shuffled uncomfortably, he wasn't used to such large bases or the military structure this Starfleet seemed to have. It was too much like that of the Haakonian Order.
"Okay, pleased that now that Ive heard more of us survived. The Doctor mentioned that a second ship escaped."
Again Maxon shuffled uncomfortably,
"Its a long story" he muttered,
"I have time" Voran smiled, "More than you know"
Maxon eyed the El-Aurian a moment and then offered him a seat.
"We are just travellers, we pick up people here and there."
"How long have you been travelling?"
Maxon shrugged,
"A long time. Here and there we pick up people. Some said they were brought to our quadrant by a caretaker, some are our own races."
"I see" Voran nodded, aware that Maxon seemed to be hiding something. Tol had found evidence that the ship had been planet bound for some time, "Its interesting to see such a mix of species."
"Yes, we have come to work well together, all of us outcasts"
"Outcasts?"
"Yes - I was only a child when the Haakonians invaded and grew up"
"Must have been tough"
Maxon nodded, "My parents were both killed, a Haakonian family adopted me but I never fitted in. I ran away and got a berth on a Malon Garbage Scow. Lived there till I ran in to Jolant and some of the Alphies."
"Alphies?"
"Its what we call those from the Alpha Quadrant. We seemed to get on and sto...found a ship and off we set. One day we stumbled on a sub space corridor. We travelled in it for awhle but then were attacked."
"The Turei?"
"Yes" Maxon nodded, "They tried to drive us out but instead we entered a fragile corridor that through us out into the nebula. Jolant didnt seem happy to be back home but he gave us... err...a course... and off we went"
"And what happened?"
"Errm... dunno I was nt on the bridge"
"Its where we found you"
"Oh yeah well I came up at the last moment and then blam it all...well err thats that." Maxon looked round a moment, avoiding Vorans gaze, "Look I m tired.. could we do this later, I know the Ambassadors want to discuss a home for us"

"Yes, of course. Soon I won't need to pick you up at all." Stuart grinned from ear to ear before getting serious once more. "I need to analyze that data on the tricorder, so I'll be heading to my office first. I'm guessing that you're going to pay a visit to this new Ambassador? Please be careful...and diplomatic..."
Stuart let those words hang a bit as T'Val rose that one eyebrow in mock disgust at what he had just said. As they left Ops, they seperated with a kiss, with him heading to the infirmary and her, he assumed, to see the Ambassador.

Stuart was deep in thought as he was looking over the tricorder readings of the Admiral.
"Lily, please import telemetry readings of the admiral from the past twleve hours and overlay them onto my current screen of the current readings I have now."
[glow=purple,2,300]}Importing...complete.{[/glow] "Thank you Lily!" Stuart grabbed a handfull of salt sticks and started nibbling away at them as he once more looked at the readings. After the fifth stick a dire thought came to him. He didn't like it if he was right, he needed a second opinion.
Tapping the keypad of his console, he called for T'Val. Her face appeared on screen with a towel wrapped on top for her head. She was either just getting in the bath or out of it. "What is it Stuart?"
"I was just wondering if you were in, I need to show you something and see if you notice the same as I do." He looked on at her pretty face as she responded. "Tedak came and picked up D'Beren, so I was just getting prepared for this evenings function. So yes, come on by. I'll be in the tub, but the voice-recignition for the door is set for you."
"On my way then." Stuart tapped the pad and terminated the session. Transferring the readings onto a PADD, Stuart made his way to T'Val's quarters. Thinking along the way made him realize and become a bit surprised that Admiral Lin mentioned that their new quarters would be on the habitat levels as there was nothing available on the diplomatic levels of the station. From the science level it really didn't matter much. He would just have to get used to start going down instead of up when he left from work and vice versa going to work.
The more he thought about it, the more he was glad for it. The habitat level was bustling with life. It was like living in an inner city on Earth. All you had to do was step outside and there was something to do or see in any direction you faced. There would be plenty to do with D'Beren. There was even a small zoo with species of animals from nealry all quadrants of space.
Finally arriving at T'Val's Stuart identified himself for admission. As she had promised T'Val was indeed in the tub, up to her neck in suds. He knealt beside her for a kiss, which started to last longer than what he wanted to for the moment. Stuart slowly pulled away to get back to the reason he came in the first place.
Bringing up the PADD for T'Val to see, he tapped a few keys and the telemetry of Admiral Lin appeared. They started talking about the readings they saw and discussed the various possibilities Finally they came to a point where T'Val was unsure where he was going with his conclusion...
"...I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I think he may need a new host. We'll have to run full diagnostics of him."

"Look I'm tired.. could we do this later, I know the Ambassadors want to discuss a home for us."
Voran had heard the excuse "I'm tired" used thousands of times before by those wishing to avoid an interrogation, and he also knew that there was nothing he could do for now.
"Of course." He said, "Thank you for your time."
He exited Maxon's quarters and wondered what his next course of action should be. He decided that his next step should be to find out more about this Cardassian, Jolant.
He wondered why Jolant was not pleased to be back home. Since the new ties with the Cardassians permitted the Federation a great deal of access to Cardassian records, he figured that he should be able to get at least some information.
He headed for ops and, once he got there took a seat at his console.
"Lily, do we have any information on ships pulled to the Delta Quadrant by the entity known as the caretaker?" Asked Voran.
"Affirmative, information from Talaxian cargo shuttle Baxial."
"Were any of those vessels Cardassian?"
"Affirmative. One Cardassian vessel recorded."
"Information?"
"Name: Vetar, Galor Class, Commanding Officer: Gul Evek, Executive Officer: Glinn Talek..."
"That's enough, Lily. Are there any records of a Cardassian named Jolant serving on the Vetar?"
"I'm sorry Captain, that information is not available."
Voran sighed. He then decided to head for Magellan's office; maybe the Admiral could help him.
Magellan looked up as he entered.
"Admiral, I've talked with the Talaxian, Maxon and he said that many of the Alpha Quadrant members of their group were pulled to the Delta Quadrant by the entity known as the Caretaker. Knowing this, I went into our records and it appears that the Cardassian warship, Vetar was pulled into the Delta Quadrant at some point. It was commanded by Gul Evek. I ran into him a few times before the Dominion War. I wasn't able to access the crew manifests so I don't know whether Jolant was onboard that vessel. Do you think we could contact the Cardassian government, maybe get access to the information, or perhaps we could even contact Evek, or the first officer, Talek.

Magellan listened to Voran and hen turned to his console.
"Hang on, I have some contacts in the Cardassian Military. Eveks XO is now a Gul in the 3rd Order." Magellans hands danced across the console and opened up a comm link.
=^= Ah Talek, good to see you again, perhaps you can help us.=^= =^= Sure Lin. Anything I can do for you.=^= =^= Its a Cardassian named Jolant. You have any information...=^=
=^=Jolant!!!!!=^=
"Well thats a response" Magellan whispered to Voran
=^=What can you tell us Talek?=^= Voran asked moving round the desk to join the conversation.
Taleks face became serious, =^= Well not much. He was a Glinn in engineering on the Vetar. He was lost though. It was well... a long long time ago. We were pursuing a Maquis Raider... the ones who joined your Voyager. Anyways we lost them in the Badlands. We were damaged and had lost sensors. We sent Jolant and Togan in a shuttle ahead of us to sense a way out. Suddenly there was an energy wake, The Vetar avoided it but it hit the shuttle. It vanished. We thought it was destroyed. Later when we heard about Voyager we assumed the Caretaker had taken them.=^=
Magellan and Voran listened carefully,
=^=Anything else?=^=
Talak shrugged, =^=The only thing was something our Obsidian Order liason said, he felt Jolant was a dissident and was starting an investigation=^=
=^=Thanks Talak. I owe you one.=^= Magellan said,
=^=Not at all Lin, we're equal and lets leave it that way=^=.
"Does that help you investigation?" Magellan asked Voran

Later on same day
OOC: JP between me and Kahlena
Magellan looked up from his desk as the Skorr entered, he checked the time, he had an hour before the new Romulan Ambassadors welcome reception. "Yes Commander what can I do for you... seat?"
"Missed it! I wasn't aware the TigerShark had left yet." His eyes took on a distant gaze and then focused oncemore, "Oh yes they have gone havent they." He shook his head. He could feel Gethin and Brysons consciousnesses begin to surface and Lorans, her strength pushing through. He needed another isoboramine shot, each one seemed to last shorter and shorter, "Errrrmmm Sorry, where was I... Left oh... perhaps we could get you a shuttle?"
"Sir, they are a good six or seven days out by shuttle now, and getting father away by the minute."
"Really A week already, are you sure... yes well I guess you would be" concentrating was getting harder, Loran was nearly there he could feel her negativity pervading him, "Well what do you think you were doing, Its YOUR responsibility to ensure your on deck at the right time"
Kahlena noticed a small change in him, and wondered what was going on. He crossed his legs, and that got her thinking. "Yes, I guess your right on that. I should have been more aware of when they were leaving. As for why I wasn't on the ship, well that's very personal," Kahlena said and continued to watch the admiral very curious as to what is going on.
Magellan eyed the replicator, he needed that isoboramine shot. "Yes well we all make mistakes" he added reiging his disparate hosts, "Well for now I guess we can add you to the duty roster here"
"That sounds good, sir, perhaps my services could be of use to someone here. I had a feeling I was needed, but not how. Are you alright, sir?"
"I m fine" he snapped, then smiled, "Sorry.. long day and I have one of those interminable functions with diplomats and then a mayoral election to oversee. You can check in with my Chief of Staff... Dr Stuart Mercy, he'll probably be in the Civilian Hospital... Oh and see Commander F'rras on the way out he can assign you quarters if you need them... now if you dont mind I really need to freshen up" he glanced again at the repicator.
"Thank you sir, I appreciate this," Kahlena said and left figuring she was dismissed.
Magellan stood and showed Kahlena out as soon as the door shut he was at the replicator.

T'Val frowned as she sat up in the tub, glancing at the readings Stuart was showing her while he sat kneeling beside the tub. "He is dying," she confirmed, "both of them are. However..." She hesitated as she glanced at her mate. "...if Lin needs to be transplanted into a new host, the current host, meaning Magellan, will die. I cannot accept that."
She motioned for Stuart to pass her the large towel that hung over the sink and stepped out of the bath while he held the towel up for her and politely looked the other way. She wrapped the towel around her body then turned around to face him again. "Without Lin, Magellan Riva cannot survive, we both know that, but looking at your diagnostic result there may not be any other choice. I am going to contact the Symbiosis Commission after I have gotten dressed. Would you wait in the livingroom?"
After Stuart had exited her bathroom, she toweled herself dry and hoisted herself into the chesnut-coloured dress she had selected for the evening occasion. Quickly she rubbed the towel over her hair, then let it fall free to dry. After she was done, she rejoined Stuart and together they walked up to her computer terminal. "Lily, open a communications channel to the Symbiosis Commission on the Trill homeworld."
T'Val glanced sideways at Stuart. "Perhaps contacting his friend, Laurana might be a good idea. At least he will be dealing with someone who cares for him." She turned back to the console. "Specifically, contact Guardian Laurana, she will be at the pools. It is urgent that we get through to her."
A little later, the Trill female appeared on the screen. "Laurana, I need your help," T'Val started, the worry showing on her face, "Magellan is in serious trouble. He is having difficulty with his symbiont and both Stuart and myself have confirmed that Lin needs a new host, or both Magellan and Lin will die. However, I am not willing to sacrifice Magellan himself....is there any way you can help?"

Tedak sat on the floor in his quarters, his legs crossed as he watched D'Beren play with a set of wooden blocks before him. The boy was concentrating on making the single pile of blocks as high as possible, standing on the tip of his toes to reach the top spot to place the next block on the previous one.
The Romulan smiled as he watched his son's efforts, only to see his disappointed face when the pile toppled over. "That's all right," Tedak comforted him, "when you grow taller, you'll be able to make a bigger pile."
D'Beren turned to him. "Daddy, are you going to the party tonight?" Of course at the daycare centre he had picked up parts of conversation and as smart as he was for his age, he put two and two together. "They say there's a party for the Romulan ambassador...is this party for you?"
Tedak shook his head. "No, I'm no longer the ambassador. I got relieved." He said the last word with such fury that the boy took a startled step back. "But perhaps I should go, and confront this impostor. I was not informed I would be relieved, permanently or temporarily, so this can't be genuine." He doubted his son would understand the situation, even though he's shown surprising understanding in the past. "You wouldn't mind T'Shan watching over you tonight would you?"
D'Beren smiled. "I like T'Shan," he answered, then returned his attention to his blocks, while his father continued to page the nanny, then went to change into his formal attire. When the Vulcan nanny arrived, Tedak told her exactly where he was going and why, not missing her disapproving glance even though she said nothing.
When he arrived at the party, Tedak beelined for the new diplomat. "You and I need to talk," he stated, crossing his arms over his chest, "I am not acknowledging you as my replacement. I was not notified beforehand, as is common policy as well as courtesy. He was very aware of people staring his way, especially Saarok and Ezdreiana, who cast him warning glances.
The Romulan ignored both his friends, fixing his eyes on Vebn, tapping his foot ever so slightly as he waited for response.

Kahlena headed back to where her temporary quarters were, and she frowned knowing everything she owned was on the ship. She shook her head. "You are in for it this time," she said and stepped over to the replicator to get what she needed.
A little bit later, after making the quarters more like home, Kahlena straighted her uniform, and went in search of the hospital.
It took her longer than she expected, and when she arrived, it seemed no one was willing to help her. Suddenly a nurse comes over asking if she could 'be of some assistance'.
"As a matter of fact, I am looking for Doctor Mercy. Is he available?" Kahlena said hoping to get to work as soon as possible. ~Idle hands and wings make trouble look easy.~ She thought quoting one of her homeworld teachers.
"I'm sorry, Doctor Mercy left for Ops an hour ago. He might still be there," she suggested, and Kahlena thanked the woman leaving to see if she might find him in Ops.
A little later, with no luck, Kahlena found herself sitting down in the Mess Hall, having been directed there, sighing a little.
"Why so glum?" The bartender asked, and she explained what she needed.
"Oh him, well have you tried T'Val's quarters?" He asked, and she shook her head. Thanking him, she left to see if that would help.
Once outside the quarters, she chimed, but no answer. "Drats, now where do I go? Computer locate Doctor Mercy," Kahlena said realizing she should have done this the first time.
Doctor Mercy is located in the Fishtank.
Kahlena sighed again, and walked over to the turbolift. She hoped she would find him.
Once in the Fishtank she realized she wasn't dressed for the occassion, and thought about leaving. She noticed people were looking at her, but she was used to it. ~I wouldn't fit in a dress uniform any ways. They never make them big enough.~ She thought and started to look around hoping to find the doctor.
Going toward an area she almost knocked into a female Vulcan with one of her wings. "Sorry, I should be more careful where I put those things. No harm done I hope?"

Vebn just half smiled and then with a curt nod said,
"Your acknowledgement of the fact is more proof of your irrationality. The orders are signed by the Praetor you cannot get higher authority than that."
"But this is my post" Tedak stated firmly,
"Not anymore. It is felt you have...how do these humans say it... Gone native?"
"Gone Native?"
"Your interests seem to lie more with these people than your own... hardly fitting a representative of our Empire."
"My interests are for what is right" Tedak snorted,
"What is right in your mind. Not what is right for our people. A people you seem to have very little regard."
Tedak began to fume.
"I mean, your friendship with the Debrune was good and getting their Holy Child as your son... a work of genius. I think everyone was happy with that back home but then came the opposition and some odd choices..."
"Choices?" Tedak sighed,
"You opposed Senator Krotak when she came aboard and even particpated in her arrest?"
"She broke the law!"
"Not our laws"
"you fought against Romulan forces"
"They invaded this station illegally and were a rogue faction"
"They were still ROMULAN" Vebn spat, "And most recently you disobeyed orders of the Tal Shiar and revealed information relating to the La'mat Incident. You fraternise with our enemies and represent them more than us. So friendly that I even hear they allow you to wander into Ops when ever you like !!!You even had a Vulcan as a wife, luckily you came to your senses"
Tedak was close to exploding,
"You leave T'Val out of this" he growled his hands clenching, A hand dropped upon his shoulder and he turned to face Loskene,
"Perhaps it would be best if you left for now" He said, "This isnt going anywhere. Better you go calm down and consider your options."
Vebn by now had moved off to join Ambassador Kaskrene and Major Koroth.
TAG Tedak.

Laurana keyed off the comm and sank back into her chair. This was worrying, she had thought Magellan had turned a corner with regards to his symbiont. He had been so much better after meeting the Annuated.
She looked at her schedule and then put in a call to her supervisor.
=^= Sir, I know things here are still somewhat in chaos but I really need some time off.=^=
=^= How much?=^=
=^=At least a month and a half. Its a 14 day trip to Assailant. Its a mission of mercy, they believe Lin needs a new symbiont.=^=
=^=They?=^=
=^= The base CO=^=
=^=Very well permission granted=^=
Laurana got up and headed for home to pack. She hoped she would reach Assailant in time to be of some help.
OOC: Okay help is on the way - but 14 days is a long time.

Ji’Zhan, having returned to the planet, was sitting while the Council was in session. Half hearing what was being said and having to read his display before each vote, the other Elders were becoming irritated. Ji’Zhan saw this and started to participate in all conversations just to keep his thoughts in that room. Ji’Zhan had allowed Captain Felix to leave his star base office without an acceptance of his apology. He did regreat that and had sent the Captain a recorded video acceptance and an invitation to lunch the next time he was on base. Ji’Zhan hoped that would suffice until he could meet again face-to-face with Felix.
The Council had adjourned for the evening when Ji’Zhan received an invitation for Ambassadorial Function at the star base at 2000 hours. That was the last thing that Ji’Zhan wanted and on top of that it was back onboard the star base. A base that he didn’t really want to see just yet after the JAG investigation; at any rate his thoughts were turned when he read that this was to welcome a new Romulan Ambassador. Concerned, he dressed and left with escort to arrive at the star base twenty minutes after the function had started.
--- at the function ---
Entering the Fishtank, he noticed that everyone was in dress and forgot how clean and crisp Star Fleet dress uniforms were. He had thought several times that Debrune robes were getting outdated, but he knew that would never go over well so he simply never said anything about it. Socializing with the crowd he noticed Tedak talking with another Romulan, very frustrated and was shocked to the see the other Romulan turning and leaving the conversation when it was obviously not complete.
Not wasting anytime, seeing the new Romulan approaching Kaskrene, Ji’Zhan made his way over to the group for introductions.

Tedak glared at Loskene, knowing very well that he'd be no match for the shapeshifting admiral and thus knew better than to pick a fight he'd certainly lose. Instead he uttered a Romulan obcenity under his breath, turned on his heels and left the area. It riled him that he hadn't been invited, knowing that T'Val and Mercy had been invited.
Then he had an idea as he stalked back to his quarters. He knew Drolem's opposition had been assaulted, and if there was one thing Tedak couldn't stand it was aimlessly and purposelessly beat up possible challengers. And he didn't like the way Drolem had been winning his elections over the past years.
"And I need work," Tedak mused, as he headed back for his quarters. "Lily, compose message for Admiral Lin," he instructed, as he picked up D'Beren, who'd come running towards him, "Admiral Lin, as I seem to have been replaced as diplomat, I wish to announce myself electable as mayor for SBA. With my history in working with people I believe I am a suitable candidate. Please get back to me on this. Tedak."
He paused, hugged his son and reread his message. "Send and save please."
"Acknowledged," Lily answered, still not engaging in small talk with her friend, feeling that if he wanted to talk to her, he'd start a conversation.
Tedak however didn't feel like small talk. "Thank you Lily," he replied as he headed towards the kitchen to fix dinner for himself and his son, wondering what Lin would respond....IF he would respond.
(Magellan)
Meanwhile at the party, T'Val was knocked over and into Stuart's arms, as he was standing close-by. "Sorry, I should be more careful where I put those things. No harm done I hope?"
T'Val turned, her eyes widening as she stared up at the draconic creature that had knocked her over with one of her wings. "None," T'Val confirmed, as she rubbed her arm, "except that now I need to go for a new drink. I have heard about you, you must be Kahlena. I am T'Val and my companion is Doctor Stuart Mercy. Are you newly stationed here, or did you miss your assignment?"

Does that help you investigation?" Magellan asked Voran.
"I'm not sure..." said Voran, pensively, "Anyway, Admiral, I'll see you tonight.
Magellan nodded vaguely as Voran left the office. It seemed the investigation would have to wait for now, with the diplomatic funtion to attend.
------------
The turbolift doors opened to reveal the bridge of the USS Galaxy. Voran stepped out and saw his senior officers huddled in the middle of the bridge. Suddenly, the group burst out in groans.
"What's going on?" Asked Voran.
"We're drawing lots, sir." Said Tol.
"For what?" Asked Voran.
"To see who gets to command the Galaxy tonight."
"Ah," Said Voran, understanding, "who's the lucky person?"
"Doctor Prin."
"Congratulations, Doctor," said Voran to the beaming Cardassian, "everyone else, I'll see you at airlock 2 at 1950 hours, in full dress uniform."
-------------
At 2000 hours, Voran was heading towards the Fishtank, accompanied by his command crew, minus the Doctor.
"I hate dress uniforms." Said Morley, the tactical officer.
"You should count yourself lucky, Dan; we used to have to wear dresses. Besides, these are quite smart, I think. Now will you all stop complaining?"
As they entered the Fishtank, they were greeted by the sight of former Ambassador Tedak being led out by Loskene.
The first people Voran saw were T'Val and Mercy.
"Ah, Doctors, how are you tonight? I believe you know my senior staff?" He waved behind himself, but soon realised that his senior staff had already made their way to the bar.
