Nervouse looking cadets in tow Brelev hurried to the Shuttle bay where Commader Smith's shuttle had been docked. "Commander Smith will not be joining us, he is very very busy. However he says the controls are not difficult to figure out, even though they are not starfleet. According to him it's all labeld. il you have any trouble with this Cadet Tagert?"
<Tag Tagert>
"Alright. Here we are." They arrived at the shuttlebay and saw Max's ship being tended to by a few Engineers. They seemed to be fussing over it more then anything else, engineers liked nothing more then a new ship to drool over. "We need that vessel, Captain's orders." Brelev called out. The Engineers stepped back and Brelev thought she caught a few sighs. "Cadet Tagert, you take the helm, Cadet Jolim, please take the science/opps station. I'll sit in the passanger's seat and help if you run into any trouble. Now remember, not too close we don't want anothr shuttle down especially not one that's on loan."
<Tag Jolim and Tagert for prep and launch etc.>

OOC very sorry for not posting the last couple of days, myself and Kane are unable to get our comp working, or more the internet, so until further notice we may not be able to post as often.

Daya walked back to words the shuttle, and saw that Cadet Fraugg was out in the open. "Cadet, what are you doing?" Daya called over to her, running to her side, looking around to make sure there was nothing within sight that might endanger either one of them.
"Get in here, now" Daya said as he stepped into the shuttle. "I thought i told you to stay with the commander?" He said once they were in the shuttle. <tag Fraugg>
"Nevermind, just dont do it again. Akira, have you finished with the sensors yet?" <tag Akira>
"What do you mean the commander spoke, tell me what she said" Daya said hastily, listening to every word they repeated.
"Check all the conduits for leakage, thats porbably what is causing the power loss, Either one of you good with science?" Daya asked, looking at the two <tag Fraugg, Akira>

He was working on the communications a little more and looks at Fraugg as she relays the message to him.
He stands up and says, "I'll go check that out right now."
"I'm going to look around outside. Only directly around the shuttle." Fraugg informed Arika while picking up her tricorder and putting a few other things in a bag.
He nods and says to himself as she walks out, "I wasn't meant for any of this..." He picks up a spare Tricorder and scans for EPS leakage as he was told to.
He looks at the readings and says, "Hmm... Something doesn't seem right..." He begins to fix the leak.
He looks at Daya as he walks in asking if he was done with the sensors.
"Sensors? I thought I was supposed to be working on communications..."
"Check all the conduits for leakage, thats porbably what is causing the power loss, Either one of you good with science?" Daya asked, looking at the two.
He looks at Daya and says, "I know some simple mechanics, mostly from fixing broken farming machines back home." He sighs, remembering the days he was at that strugling farming colony world.

Aerial took the reprimand, her curiosity had gotten the best of her and she deserved it. The lieutenant asked about science. Yeah about that...She thought " As far as fixing things, I don't really have any skill in that area. I can maybe do a little... But biology-like stuff," which she doubted was priority, so she more mumbled the last part," I can do." She felt unneeded and looked sheepishly back at the Lieutenant. <tag Daya> OOC: sorry, I had already forgotten that 'stay-thing'... not to good at this am I

"Excuse me Cadet Tobius but i would appreciate any thing you might have back there that would help me predict the movements of those energy bursts."
Jolim realized that she hadn’t exactly answered Cadet Tagert’s query, “Cadet Tagert, I’m working on a trajectory estimate as we speak, unfortunaletly due to the distortion I cant give you precise information, I can upload what I have to your station but for detailed reports I’m afraid we will need to have full sensors online” transmitting the estimations to Tagert, she heard Brelev was back on the bridge from engineering, the scans that she was asked to perform for similarities had proven to be empty, she would continue searching to see if there was anything to assist the crew,.
“A most interesting find Cadet,” Drew said quietly, “are you able to tell yet if this is a natural occurrence, or are we dealing with something artificial?”
“until our sensors are back to full strength, I can’t tell.” She replied, disappointed in the lack of information she could find, she agreed with the Captain, at this point answers were the only thing she wanted to know.
Before Jolim could respond, the turoblift doors opened swiftly to admit an excited looking Commander Brelev, who quickly explained the welcomed news about Smith’s shuttle. Within a few minutes, Brelev had outlined her plan to use the shuttle to get boosted sensor results of the nebula.
“Cadet Tobius, I'd like you to come with me. I could use someone else as well, any volunteers?" as Brelev informed the Bridge of Commander Smith’s ship for a data gathering mission. Jolim put her sensors on a rotational scan of the area. She joined Brelev and tried to still the nervousness she could feel clutching her “peace be on the prophets” she whispered to herself. She made her way to the shuttlebay following Brelev and Tagert. Entering the ship she sat at the science/opps station, as Tagert made his way to the helm, the controls looked standard and she began to run basic diagnostic checks “everything a-ok here Tagert, the ship is yours and she looks very powerful, I guess they don’t come with seatbelts then?” jolim chuckled to herself and grinned nervously at her station which she began to configure to record everything from the moment they launched. This would be her first time in a shuttle since before she joined Starfleet, she had done basic flying of course – but her forte was information, not flying… <tag Tagert>

Caring was still at the Ops station helping Jason keeping an eye on the sensor readings. Caring being an empath as well as a telepath she had started to be assailed with pain.
Jason noticed Caring was having a pained look on her face and asks "Commander, is everything alright? Did you hurt yourself on something?"
"No Commander, I'm not hurt but someone is hurt severely." Caring replied.
Jason had an astonished look on his face "Are you an empath?"
Caring smiled and said "Yes. I'm also a telepath, but unlike my great (X4) grandmother, I need to be in physical contact with someone before I can read their mind. This gift was handed down to only the women born in my family but diminishes with each generation."
"That is strange, your human aren't you."
"Yes, but excuse me for a few minutes. I need to concentrate so I can find out who is in pain."
"Oh, of course you are right, do so." Jason felt ashamed that he had concentrated more on Caring's empathic ability than the fact that someone was hurt.
Caring closed her eyes and began the process of locating where the pain was coming from. "There found her" Caing though outloud she turned to the Admirl and said " Admrial Drew, Commander Hope is hurt. Currently she is unconscious, but had regained consciousness for a short period."
Drew look at Caring and asked the same question Jason had "Are you an empath, Commander? I thought you were human?"
"The answer is yes to both questions. For the brief period Commander Hope had been conscious my empathy had picked up on her pain. At first I wasn't able to localize where the pain was coming from, but after I quieted my mind I was able to feel it again. Although she is unconscious at the moment." Caring answered.
"Are you able to sense anything from the rest of the away team?"
"Small bouts of panic, nothing I wouldn't expect from cadets in a situation like this, sir."
"Keep me informed if you sense anymore from the away team, Commander."
ooc: Sorry, I haven't been posting, since I don't have a cadet, I haven't been able to think of anything intellegent to write. Again, my apologies.

As Methos was about to have the two cadets with him come up and inspect the box to see what they thought it might do, Admiral Drew called down.
“Mr. Methos, please could you and your team report to my ready room, I would like a de-briefing.”
"Aye, sir. We are on our way," Methos replied as he lowered the antigrav lift.
"Cadets Kane and Runningwolf, what do you think of that box up there?" He asked as he pointed his light up to the box.
<Kane and Runningwolf>
"Keep those thoughts fresh, because the CO wants us to de-brief him on our findings," Methos said as he led the way out of Engineering.
He told the security teams as he left, "No one leaves unescorted." They all nodded in response.
He entered the turbolift and said, "Bridge." Minutes later they were in Admiral Drew's Ready Room.
OOC: Sorry about not posting, I just didn't have alot of time this weekend....

OCC. sorry about being late my computer at home is dead and I'm am having to use public computers. Tom had jumped up ready when the Admiral said he was on the away mission, so Tommy Tagert ran (well more of a jog/sprint somewhere in there ;D ) to the turbo-lift with the rest of the team and and headed to the shuttle bay. Once there Tom walked over to equipment locker 7 and grabbed an E.V. suit, and put it on. Tom looked over his shoulder and seen the commander walking in to a shuttle so Tom followed and once inside started pre flight warm-up. The shuttle was a little cramped, but tom didn't like to fly around in side his ship, but rather fly his ship around wile inside ;D. Every thing checked out so Cadet Tom J. Tagert called out to the crew. "I've got green lights, all across the console. Hanson, this is shuttle Topas, requesting permission to take off." He received proper codes and, then left the bay. As the ship exited the bay, it's pearl hull looked considerably out of place on the purple and black doily it was in. Tom flipped the shuttle up side down, and brought the ship within .5m and remembering a trick his dad taught him, positively charged the nacelles and the ship attached it's self to the Hanson magnetically. Tom turned to the commander and before he put the helmet on his E.V. suit he told her, "Well we're there..........er Mamm, sensors are reading some type of fluid on the Hanson's hull that is eating at the plating."<Popcorn>

Crystal stands on the bridge after her cadet has left, continuing to avoid having the ship hit by the bursts from the nebula. She started off with two cadets, but for now she has lost them both temporarily. She has little to do now apart from navigate the ship, but that proves hard enough.
Crystal glances at the information Cadet Jolim gave her before leaving. It predicts an energy lash to the stern, and Crystal moves the Hanson to avoid the predicted event. The Nebula doesn't spike out at them then, so Crystal sighs slightly, keeping an eye on the mostly-accurate predictions, but also on her sensors, since she thinks it would probably be a bad thing for the ship if anything were to hit the ship.
Moving the Hanson away from an actual burst this time, Crystal notices that the ship seems a little more sluggish than the shuttles Crystal gained most of her experience in, something to remember. Not that it affects her all that much now, if she thinks the ship is going to be hit she moves it as fast as she can. If the ship responds more slowly now, it doesn't really change what her next action is.
Crystal waits, tensely, for another energy burst or the like from the nebula, but nothing is forthcoming for now. That doesn't exactly encourage her to relax though, because just because there is nothing now doesn't mean it couldn't appear in the next thirty seconds. Or it is possible that the bursts are becoming less frequent, in which case her tenseness would be unwarranted. Crystal easily decides to err on the side of too much caution, as she awaits another attack from the Nebula.

"I have heard of this type of thing, but never seen it or met someone who has... The sensors on the Hanson should pick this kind of thing up and report before it get's out of hand, but given the circumstances..." =A= Commander Brelev to Admiral Drew, the shuttle has discoverd a corrosive material on the Hanson's hull, given the corrosion rate I'm geussing it should be dealt with now rather then later. I suspect we only recently accuired it, as sensors would normally have picked it up.=A=

Wolf: Heard the admiral orders to report he also heard Captain Methos question "what do you think of that box up there?" Wolf thought about the box and everything that had happened on the way to the bridge. While in the turbo lift wolf decided to ask his instructor some questions.
Captain Methos sir " How many new crewmen did the Hanson take on at the starbase?"
While waiting to arrive at the bridge wolf mind was running 5 steps ahead he was trying to slow down and catch up. Something doesn't make sense hear he thought to himself then he had a idea but wasn't sure if it would fly with everybody else. He'd have to wait and see if he would get a chance to present his plan.

"Without getting a closer look, from here it looks like an emergency transmiter of some sort. The only one I know of that size is for a runabout." Matti replied.
<unless... no it can't be. They haven't got any reason to mess with star fleet.>
"There is a possabillity... slim as it might be. When I was in with a rather discrete band of mercs I was on a mission that involved a race of people that were almost equal scientifiacaly to our own accevments. They were known as the Kleenix. They were a nice enough people but had a bad reaction to the chemicals that humans produced. They did have a 'cure' for lack of better words, but still sneezed when they were around humans for too long. they look like humans but have rather large noses. their noses were a sign of their status. The bigger the nose, the higher one was in the society. the lower levels almost had the same size we do. with a minor sergery they would look like one of us. Except for the sneezing." Matti explained.
"They wouldn't have a reason to hurt star fleet unless a human went to their home world. That would cause massive reactions to the ecosystem. The only problem is that no one knows where the home world is. They keep that a very tight secret." Matti told the Marine Captain.

Well mamm, the fluid is directly over the sensor array. This could mean that the fluid was there before we left space dock but as you said; then the Hanson's sensors should have set off an alarm, or the space dock sensors should have. Also as you said this fluid could be an affect of the nebula, or maybe something we warped through when the ship warped......here. I don't know for sure but there very well may be a connection between the sensor failure and the fluid on the hull. Again that is only a speculation, but I will monitor growth and see if i can determine at what time we came in contact with it if you want.

Wolf: Exited the turbo lift with the rest of the team and headed for the Admiral ready room. When they entered the ready room the team came to attention.
Admiral Drew " At ease Gentlemen, so what have you found out"
Captain Methos " Running wolf why don't you start and tell the admiral what you know"
Wolf: "Yes sir When we arrived in engineering we broke up and started to ask question sir. It would seem most of the engineering staff was just as shocked and had no idea of what was going on. We didn't get a whole lot out of them. Captain Methos noticed something above the warp core and went up to check it out. He found a device which didn't belong there I think cadet Kane could better explain then I could sir." <Tag Kane>
Admiral " Right now we are getting to far with our questions and because of the time constraints I have a idea" Wolf was alittle worried with the idea he was going to present but they needed answers and he thought this would be the fastest way of getting them. "Sir I was thinking that maybe Counselor Sorrow could assist us. She's empath and can tell if somebody is not being truthful. I'm not asking her to read minds just to observe and let us know if people are telling the truth. Not to mention not everybody aboard knows she has this ability yet. If she was to change her uniform and come along she could be a big help."
Wolf waited for the admiral reply he was hoping that his idea didn't sound stupid and the admiral would think that it was a invasion of privacy. They needed answers and it could help them get at the true th.

Caring was present when Wolf presented his idea. From experience, using her empathy was not an invasion fo privacy, as sensing people's feelings was not as easy to turn off as telepathy. Caring turned to Wolf and said"Cadet Runningwolf, your idea has merit. I would be only to happy to lend a hand, but I don't think changing uniforms would be the way to go. I can come along with the intention to help out, since it is widely known that I do not have a cadet. Not all Counelors are telepathic or empathic, so it isn't widely known that I am."
Then she turned to the Admiral and said "Only if the Admiral has no objections, sensing emotions is not an invasion of privacy, as it is more difficult to turn off one's empathy than it is one's telepathy. Strong emotions are more easily detected, and subterfuge is a strong emotion."

"no, there's a circut relay thery, and that section is charged." he mumbled such while he was walking. "maybie there...? No, there's a- well something. right behind the plate there. could I remove a side? They all seem to have current, but that could be simulated by one small peice of plate or hooking all the wires together. That should do it." Jeff touched in a series of commands to the PADD, and it higlighted an area in green.
"Smith to Bridge, I'm going to open up that box to get a better idea of what it's there for. It will not change the function in anyway, it will jsut allow me to see and scan inside."

Max took the tools he needed and put them on a repair platform with exipment and material storage,a dn activated it, floating up to the box. Once there, he pulled out his Padd and used it's guidlines to cut in the right placesHe held the laser cutter steady as he cut, and slowly cut ituntil he was able to remove the side and set it on the hover platform. "Yes, sir" Aerial spouted quickly.
Sensors... I might actually be able to work on that... She did remember how to work on those. It would have been better to have thought of that before, instead of letting her curiosity get to her.
The panel in front of Cadet Fraugg was similar to one she had been used to before. A few things were positioned differently, but she got the idea of it. As she touched it, Aerial saw that the problem was most likely lying in a physical problem with the sensors. The cadet squatted down to look it over. She thanked the powers at work that it happened to be something she could do.

We can scan to see who is on medication and ask the doctor to cross refrence with know drugs. Not to mention if they are uncomfortable around us the couselor will be able to pick up on that as well. It could shorten our investitgation."
Wolf waited for the admiral reply. "Oh before I forget I must apolgize to you couselor, You are right about changing uniforms my thought was I didn't want the crew worried about what you might be picking up on. I wanted them to be comfortable and not realize you were there. But I see that was wrong I hope you can for give me."

"There is nothing to forgive, Cadet. It's a sign that you are thinking when you can come up with a few scenerios for the commanding officer to think over. I appreciate it when someone thinks ahead, I can't say that I always do. I believe that is a good attribute and both your idea and Cadet Kane's have enough merit to be considered." Caring replied.
Caring wanted both Matti and Wolf to know they were being heard, even though it was along time ago, Caring still remebers what it was like to be a cadet!

"I'll take over the scans for that acidic residue, If you could help Cadet Tobius run scans on the Nebula that would be wonderful." Brelev decided. "I think that getting Commander Hope and the rest of the away team back should be our top priority."
<Tag Jolim and Tagert to figure out that Nebula>
Brelev began a in depth scan of the residue. "It seems to be multiplying with a doubling time of 3 hours... at this rate it will cover the ship's hull in a matter of days. How could this have happend? it's like a living organism drawn to the power in the sensor arrays. I want a sample, but I'm not sure we have anything strong enough to hold it." Brelev ponderd aloud.
"You don't think it's sentient do you?" Jolim asked.
"I can't be sure, things like this don't test easily for sentience. I certainly hope not then removing it is only going to get more complicated. If it is sentient then perhaps our new Councellor can tell. I heard she is empathic." Brelev replied. "How are your scans going. We could send out a probe, but then we rish is being pulled into the planet. It's bad enough we have a ship there.

OOC: The Start of this post is just before the Marines report to the ready room, I will go on to write that in. My apologises for my unplanned absence, the university’s systems were down for some of the Easter break for some kind of upgrade or another.
ON:
From his place in the centre of the bridge, Drew had a perfect view of the forward view screen, which at this moment, showed one small ship leaving the Hanson’s shuttlebay. Although the ship was now a relatively safe distance from the dangers of the nearby nebula, images of the last away mission flashed through Drew’s mind.
“What is the status of the shuttle?” Drew asked, taking his seat along the command bench.
“Commander Brelev reports all systems are operational,” Reynolds reported, “everything seems fine.”
Drew nodded his head in relief, and watched the view screen as the small ship moved further away.
“Make sure to keep continuous scans on them for as long as possible,” Drew ordered, as the Hanson’s own sensors were currently underperforming it was likely that the Hanson wouldn’t be able to monitor the away team for much longer.
“Admiral, they are hailing us,” Reynolds reported calmly, “Commander Brelev wishes to speak with you.”
“Go ahead Commander,” Drew said, tilting his head as if the Commander was standing next to him.
Drew listened carefully to Brelev’s report concerning the corrosive material on the Hanson’s hull, a most disturbing discovery.
“Understood Commander,” Drew replied, “I’ll assign a repair team on to it straight away, have you had any luck locating the other Away Team yet?”
Brelev reported that they hadn’t, and that it would be one of the top priorities once the shuttle was properly underway.
“Good work Commander,” Drew said, closing the channel, “keep me informed.”
Just as Drew had finished speaking with Brelev, the turbolift door opened to reveal the Marines, all of whom were looking very determined.
“Gentlemen,” Drew said, standing from his chair, “would you all be so kind as to join me in my ready room?”
As Drew walked towards his private office, Counsellor Sorrow also got up to join the meeting. Drew and Sorrow had already agreed that her own empathic powers might prove useful in the investigation, it therefore seemed logical that should see be in the debriefing.
Taking a seat behind his oval desk, Drew listened to the reports from Cadets Runningwolf and Kane, as well as their suggestions for resolving the issues.
“I agree our best line of approach is for Counsellor Sorrow to try to “sense” out any unwanted visitor as well,” Drew said, when everyone had finished, “until all our systems are back up to fully operational, we may not be able to perform a full ship wide scan.”
“I will start making preparations,” Sorrow said, however, when Drew looked up at the counsellor, she seemed almost as if she was unaware of her surroundings, as if she was sensing something now.
“Counsellor, are you alright?” Drew asked.
Sorrow shook her head as if she was coming to her senses, “yes, sorry,” she said quickly.
Giving the Counsellor one more concerned look, Drew turned his attention back to the Marines.
“As you both know, we also have a missing away team on the planet below, I have sent another away team to start scanning the area, and I want you two to start working on a rescue plan for our missing people.”
“Yes sir,” both the Marine Cadets replied, standing smartly to attention.
“Very good,” Drew said, standing from his chair, “you are all dismissed.”
OOC:
Kane and Runningwolf, excellent suggestions on what may be happening, the idea with the Knelx is something we can work with. I want to bring the away team back to the ship soon, perhaps when they return they will have more information for you both?
To the missing away team, Lt. Daya is having connection problems, over the next few posts we will return you all to the ship.

Wolf: Turned to Captain Methos as the exited the admiral ready room "Sir if we are going down to the planet to help may I suggest that it just be the 3 of us. This is what we are trained for and it would be easyer and faster for us if we didn't have to worry about anybody else. We could get in and out before they know whats happening"
Wolf: Didn't want to offend anybody and starfleet training was good the Marines trained for this type of stuff all the time. In his mind it was there job to rescue people when they got into trouble.. As they exited the bridge wolf had another thought " Sir somthing still puzzles me why haven't we been contacted and told to leave. If cadet Kane is right about these people why would you want a starship full of them orbiting your planet considering the effects we have on them it does'nt make sense" <Tag Methos and kane>

"Well, cadet, that is a good idea, however, this ship does have a small compliment of fully trained Marines. I am going to suggest to the Admiral, that we send a small team of them lead by you to rescue the away team, while Cadet Kane and I try to figure out what that box is," Methos said.
Minutes later, the Admiral came out of his ready room. "Sir, I have a suggestion for locating rescuing the away team. We send a small team of Marines, lead by Cadet Runningwolf, down to the surface, secure the crash site and bring the away team back. Meanwhile, cadet Kane and I head back down to Engineering with Counsellor Sorrow to try and find out how that box came to be on the Hanson as well as try to find out what it does," Methos said.
