Nack had received a communique shortly after his graduation from a Dr. Phloyd Hedin, asking him to be a part of the Vesuvius. Nack was ecstatic from the offer. Dr. Hedin left the Vesuvius to take up a position at Starfleet medical, and was tasked with finding his replacement.
The only problem was, the Vesuvius was under cloak now. Nack had to await orders on how he was to get aboard.
Bored with waiting, he decided to go to the Promenade... specifically the Starquake. The last time he was there, it was decorated for the celebration taking place. This time, it was back to its normal floral display.
Lexan greeted him immediately. "Does he ever leave?" Nack thought, but had no time to dwell upon it. Lexan was already ushering him and ordering Nack a millipede juice (no shells), assuming of course that Nack had the ability to pay for one.
"So Nock, how was your little adventure out there?" Lexan said, in a mocking tone.
"The name's Nack."
"That's what I said." Lexan feigned unawareness. "So how was it?"
"It went pretty well. When I first boarded the ship, we went into lockdown... "... Lexan wasn't paying attention anymore, he was busy looking at the female officers passing by. Nack didn't notice, and told the entire mission story, finally coming to a finish after 15 minutes. "... and then Commander Salek came up with a cure, I administered it, and I am now graduated!"
"Sounds like you had a blast," Lexan said, trying not to roll his eyes. The Ferengi in front of him was not worth a drop of latinum to him.
"So, where are they posting you?" Lexan took a drink of his millipede juice.
"I was told I was to board the Vesuvius... but it seems to be off the radar so-to-speak."
"Hmm... " Lexan stroked an imaginary beard, implying that he was thinking. "I could locate it for you, but you would have to do something for me in return"
Nack didn't like the sound of this. It was never nice to be in debt to a Ferengi. They always collected their debts, and made a profit on top of it, at your expense.
"I think I'll just wait Lexan." Nack said, gulping down the rest of his drink and turning to leave.
"Some Ferengi you are." Lexan muttered under his breath, facing the opposite direction of Nack. Nack did not hear.
"Well, I'm always here if you want to talk business." Lexan said, giving a classic Ferengi "good-bye".
Nack nodded politely, paid his tab without a haggle, and left.
