It had been a long time since TJ and his crew had left Starbase Conqueror. The ship had returned to starbase damaged from the last mission, and was now nearly ready to return again to deep space. None too soon for TJ’s liking, either; he missed the deep space missions, and was becoming antsy.
~ Outside Admiral Drew’s Office, Deck One ~
TJ paused outside the door to let out a long breath, uncertain how this would turn out. He had, of course, seen Admiral Drew before, but this would be their first official interchange since he became the Commandant of Starbase Conqueror.
Finally entering the office, he was briskly ushered into the "inner sanctum" of the Academy Commandant, who was seated at his desk and looked up to greet him as the Irishman strode into the office.
"Good morning, Captain Edwards," the AC said.
"Top o’ th’ mornin’ t’ ye, sir," TJ responded in his most respectful voice. He had been a closer friend with Admiral Drew’s predecessor, having served under him as First Officer at one time.
"Take a seat, TJ," the AC instructed, and when he had, he looked straight at the young captain.
"Ever hear of the legend of the Bermuda Triangle?" he queried. "Or of the Flying Dutchman?"
"’Tis recallin’ them I am in the back o’ me mind, sir."
"It might be the simplest way to look at this mission by recalling those two marine legends. The Bermuda Triangle, in which both ships and aircraft mysteriously vanished without a trace on old earth before we finally discovered the reason for those vanishings, now has a modern counterpart, called the Denebolan Cube."
Admiral Drew handed TJ a chart showing the coordinates of the boundaries of the Cube, which had the star Denebola as the nearest of its eight points to Earth.
"Starting about 100 years ago, any ship entering that region of space was subject to a disappearance every bit as mysterious as the old Bermuda Triangle. Suddenly, all communications with the vessel were cut off, and when an investigating craft was sent to search and rescue, they would find the ship in perfect condition, but without a soul on board. The crew and passengers from any of the victimized starships were never located, though the mystery is still being researched by those scientists bold enough to brave the scorn of their peers, the majority of whom perceive it as simply a modern fairy-tale.
"This continued for about 50 years or so, then suddenly stopped. We thought we were done with it, until a report came in seven months ago of the disappearance of another crew on a ship carrying a heavy payload of civilians. They, too, disappeared without a trace, and the ship was found dead in space, totally undamaged.
"As to the reference I made to the Dutchman, in several cases the crew of the disappearing ships reported the appearance of a strange, glowing ship, surrounded by a red aura at its appearance, just before their communications were cut off. It’s because of the appearance of that ship – that some of the reports described as "ghostly" – that we’ve begun calling the phantom ship the Dutchman of Denebola."
TJ swallowed hard and a cloudiness of deep concern covered his features, not unnoticed by the AC. He did not like the thought of what he knew he was about to hear from the Commandant.
"Your next mission, Captain, is to navigate to the Denebolan Cube, enter, and make your way to the last known coordinates of disappearance of that last victimized ship, a Vulcan craft known as D’bar. You are to use everything at your disposal to discover what happened to the crew and passengers of the D’bar and, if at all possible, rescue them."
TJ nodded in silence, wondering for a few seconds what the Hepta would do to avoid becoming the Dutchman’s next victim. They would have to go in ready to fire at a moment’s notice, almost expecting hostilities. He acknowledged the mission and rose to his feet to leave.
"One more thing..." the AC said as he walked toward the door of the office. TJ turned once again to Academy Commander Drew.
"... Come back home again to us, TJ," he said softly, for the first time a concern showing in his voice.
"Aye, sir," responded TJ.
~ Ninety minutes later, at Spacedock ~
The walk down the spacedock, where the Hepta was waiting for her next assignment, was slow. He had stopped first to pack his things for the mission, and then tried to call on his close friends, Xin-Ling Chan and Dr. Barbara Johnson to tell them good-bye – perhaps for the last time – before he took a turbolift to the appropriate deck. Neither of the two was available .
He stopped for a moment when he had arrived at his destination, gazing at ship, wondering if she would ever see her homebase again.
Upon entry, he went first to his cabin, then to Ten Forward, where he obtained a cup of coffee before walking toward the Bridge. The door slid open as he downed the last of his drink, and TJ stepped onto the Bridge.
"Pre-flight reports?" he questioned.
"Alex, I’m wantin’ th’ crew an’ cadets in Ten Forward in one hour for th’ mission briefin’."

Simon had finished going though the large amounts of Padds that had built up before his appointment to the Hepta, and had just completed his main report for the higher ups. Simon walked along the corridor noting that it had gotten slightly busier since last night. Entering the turbo lift he decided where best to take his report “Bridge”. the trip up was quick and uneventful with Simon just reading over his report, walking out onto the bridge he noted only a few people where here, but to his relief the first officer was here. Walking over to her he introduced himself “Good morning Commander, my name is Commander Simon Barnes the new Chief Medical Officer. And if I do not miss my guess you would be Alex Nickmond the First Officer here” Alex was given little time to answer as at that point the captain walked onto the bridge, "Pre-flight reports?" he questioned Simon looked at his new commanding officer then handed over the report in his hand “Here are the medical departments report, we are all ready to go at your command”. TJ nodded in acknowledgement then he turned to Alex "Alex, I’m wantin’ th’ crew an’ cadets in Ten Forward in one hour for th’ mission briefin’."Simon choose to leave at this point as he had no liking for the bridge, he had been offered many FO position in his time and had accepted none of them. Quickly remembering that he should warn Harry about the meeting he hit his comm. badge “Cadet Schmidt, there will be a briefing in Ten Forward in about 50 minutes, please do not be late” Simon did not want to be the only instructor to have their cadet turn up late or last as the case may be. Arriving at ten forward with only a minute to spare Simon walked into the room to find a few officers already here. “Good morning” he said in the general direction of the officer gathered, he noted that they were all the instructors with out a cadet. <Tag Officers> Simon now had to wait for Harry to arrive and the Captain, he hoped this mission would be challenging for his cadet as he had some good talent to what his report suggested and Simon wanted to see what he could do. Harry’s quarters were almost pitch black the only light was coming from the glowing stars outside his window; Harry was fast asleep when he was awoken by a Comm. message from his instructor Dr. Barnes.
“Cadet Schmidt, there will be a briefing in Ten Forward in about 50 minutes, please do not be late”
Harry slowly dragged himself out of bed and ordered the computer to raise the lights; Harry walked over to his replicator and said. “Coffee black extra sweet”
Harry watched as his coffee materialized in the replicator; Harry grabbed the cup and took a sip. He winced as he drank and said to himself.
“I would give my right arm for real coffee”
After having a shower and getting dressed Harry made his way to ten forward he was still a little early but he did not mind at least he could give the replicators in ten forward a chance to make decent coffee. When Harry arrived he noticed a couple of officers chatting amongst themselves; Harry walked to the bar and asked the bartender for coffee. When the bartender returned with his coffee Harry walked over to his instructor Commander Barnes. Harry smiled and held up his mug and said to Dr. Barnes. “All this technology and they still can’t make a decent tasting replication of coffee” <Tag Dr. Barnes>
Harry took a seat next to Dr. Barnes and waited for the senior officers to arrive and the briefing to start…..

Drinks in Ten Forward had been nice. Now, back in his quarters, Danny felt ready for anything. He had just taken a quick shower and he was reading The Canterbury Tales, drinking a cup of coffee and occasionally glancing at the wall, at his framed autograph of the esteemed author of the Tales. The autopgraph was a rarity, the only autograph of Chaucer's known to exist. Lieutenant Colonel MacHeath, a close friend of Danny's, had managed to acquire it from Chaucer himself during a time-warp mission in which the Hepta had been involved.
Danny was about to start The Miller's Tale for the umpteenth time when the call to report to the mess hall came. He quickly finished his coffee and left his quarters.
Danny wasn't the first to arrive in Ten Forward, but luckily he hadn't been the last either. Cadet Black had just informed him that she would be away on urgent business, so it was rather a strange feeling, leaving Ten Forward with a cadet and returning a few hours later without one. Then again, that was life in Starfleet.
All eyes moved toward the Captain as he entered Ten Forward. The tension was rising. It was always an exciting moment, the few minutes just before the mission would be announced. The look on Captain Edwards's face wasn't too encouraging. Danny held his breath......

John had enjoyed drinks the night before in Ten Forward, he had gotten to know K’ratak and Danny Löhnen a little better and was looking forward to working with them. John had stayed off the alcoholic beverages as he had a sneaking suspicion that they may be departing Conqueror. His suspicions were confirmed when his computer terminal beeped, indicating that he had received a message. Dragging himself from bed, John leaned over to his computer terminal and read the message he received:
One hour John shot up outta bed, and quickly went for a shower before grabbing a fresh duty uniform from his wardrobe. It had been a long time since he had wore the uniform but he was happy to be involved in the fleet again. As John grabbed his Engineering report padds and his personal padd with his plans to test Cooper on the upcoming mission. Ahhh, Cooper – John thought, tapping his comm. Badge
=^= McFarland to Cooper, Cooper have you checked your messages? Mission briefing in approximately 40minutes in Ten Forward. See you there, McFarland out! =^=
(Cooper)
John finished the duty roster and ran some engine diagnostics before heading for the mission briefing. John got there 5 minutes before the mission briefing was to begin and picked a seat near the door. John waited and the rest of the senior staff and crew began to file in to ten forward. Eventually Dr Barnes arrived, greeting everyone as he entered “Good morning” he proclaimed.
“Morning Doctor, this seat is free…” Replied John kicking the seat next to him out from the table.

"New crew," said William, sipping his coffee. Penfold nodded his agreement, busy with some beverage Ford didn't want to look at, much less taste. "I wonder why we never get any cadets in our department..."
Penfold shrugged. "You're old."
In William's view, fifty was the new forty. After all, he was expected to live past 100, right? He was in relatively good physical condition, especially considering his age. "And you're short. Nothing either of us can do about that, I'm afraid."
The Captain entered then, causing both scientists to put down their mugs and become slightly more formal. William was saved any verbal retaliation by Penfold. Captain Edwards did not look as happy as he had at times past. William found solace in one last, quick sip of coffee before the meeting started.

Cooper was in his quarters enjoying his breakfast when he got a comm. message from Commander McFarland.
=^= McFarland to Cooper, Cooper have you checked your messages? Mission briefing in approximately 40minutes in Ten Forward. See you there, McFarland out! =^=
Cooper tapped hiss comm. badge and said.
=^=Understood sir I will see you there=^=
Cooper put down his spoon and walked to his sonic shower; after he had finished showering he grabbed a fresh uniform and got dressed.
When Cooper arrived in ten forward he noticed several officers already there as Cooper looked around the room Cooper noticed Harry Schmidt Cooper must have had a look of distaste on his face because some of the officers looked at him funny. When Cooper saw Commander McFarland he walked over and sat next to him saying. “Good morning sir hope I am not late” <Tag McFarland>
“Good I hate to be late”
Cooper sat patiently waiting for the briefing to start

So far this mission he didn't have a cadet which didn't make him happy. He like to teach it kept him sharp and also gave him new ways to look at things. After a shower and a change of uniform he went to ten forward in time to see the rest of the crew showing up. He still felt a little a wierd at times and out of place.
Still he walked in and found the crew scattered, he saw the doctor and went to stand by him for the briefing. " How are we doing today Doctor Barnes I hope all is quite and you are bored" <Tag Barnes>He realy met what he said if the the Doctore had nothing to do that met the crew was okay. If the the doctor had to work that ment there was somthing wrong with the crew which was not a good thing most of the time.

(OFF: getting caught up and back into the story)
Loni had spent most of the time since their return to the Starbase in her temporary quarters. Finally the call came for all the cadets to report to the USS Hepta. She'd been ready and quickly packed the last of her belongings. With one last look around her quarters she stepped out and headed for the airlock which would take her to her new posting.
Several minutes later she was handing her orders to the security guard at the airlock and then she was through and heading for 10 Forward, her duffel still tucked beneath her arm. She'd studied the layout of the ship so knew where she was going, and finally arrived on deck 10, where the lounge was located.
Loni wasn't sure who her instructor would be but knew that she would want to request extra training in tactical after the encounter with the asteroid. She entered and found a place to sit at the bar, nodding to those she knew as she passed them on her way.

“Morning Doctor, this seat is free…” Simon was happy to see his fellow instructor and was glad for the seat, “Thanks John” Simon sat and looked over the list of cadets he had, ‘it’s increasing I had one this morning’ just as Simon was thinking this as his first cadet walked in. “All this technology and they still can’t make a decent tasting replication of coffee” Simon smiled at his cadet, “Well you could always make one yourself by hand” Simon watched as his cadet slumped into a seat next to him, simon ensured that a seat next to him on his other side was free for his other cadet when she arrived.
As time progressed other instructors entered 10 forward and simon watched as the Klingon moved towards him. " How are we doing today Doctor Barnes I hope all is quite and you are bored" Simon smiled he understood where he was coming from, as CTSO he was concerned if there was a problem already “well the only problems I have had have been shipment errors that I hope will be corrected before we leave” Simon thanked the CTSO for his words and turned to harry “Well seems we will have one extra hand in the department, a Cadet Lonnie Grebs” As if this had been a summons a cadet walked into ten forward. Simon stood to welcome the new cadet. “Well you must be Cadet Grebs, I am Commander Simon Barnes, the CMO and your instructor during this training mission. I would suggest taking a seat as we hope that the captain will be arriving soon. Oh and this is your fellow cadet, Cadet Schmidt. Well now that we are all here we should getting sitting down before there are no seats left”

“Good morning sir hope I am not late”
John turned to Cooper, he had noticed his stare at Cadet Schmidt, he wasn’t quite sure why but Cooper end Schmidt had developed a sort of rivalry.
“You’re not late Cooper, you’re right on time.” John replied as Cooper picked the seat to his right after Dr Barnes had sat down to John’s left. John was fitting into the crew quite nicely and noticed Commander K’ratak enter and watched as he spoke to Dr. Barnes.
“Good I hate to be late” Cooper added, as he sat down.
John smiled and said: “Did you enjoy your light reading last night?”
(Cooper)
“You and Cadet Black seemed to be getting on quite well last night…” John winked at Cooper, John was just joking with Cooper, but was eager to see his reaction.
(Cooper)
As John and Cooper were enjoying some friendly banter the door to 10 Forward sprung open and in stepped Cadet Grebs. Some of the senior crew had turned expecting Captain Edwards and quickly spun round again but John nodded before returning to his conversation with Cooper. John had worked closely with Grebs on the Starbase as had Cooper, but he knew in particular that Commander K’ratak would be pleased. K’ratak and Grebs had worked closely together and he was sure they would both become good friends in time.

Cooper had sat next to his instructor John McFarland who seemed to be in a happy mood. McFarland was smiling from ear to ear when he asked Cooper.
“Did you enjoy your light reading last night?”
Cooper thought about the five PADDs Commander McFarland had given him Cooper noticed some mistakes in the text and wondered if Commander McFarland did it purposely to see if he actually read them. Cooper looked at McFarland and smiled.
“It was ok I noticed some errors I would like to discuss with you after the briefing though”
McFarland nodded in agreement with Cooper before something Cooper thought was impossible happened John’s smile grew bigger and he said.
“You and Cadet Black seemed to be getting on quite well last night…”
Cooper noticed McFarland had winked at him Cooper smiled and replied.
“Yes we did it is a shame I won’t have that chance with Loni Grebs I found her very interesting”
Before John could answer the door opened and revealed Cadet Grebs Cooper chuckled to himself and then said to Commander McFarland.
“Now that’s what I call timing”

As Loni sat down, an officer next to her spoke. “Well you must be Cadet Grebs, I am Commander Simon Barnes, the CMO and your instructor during this training mission. Oh and this is your fellow cadet, Cadet Schmidt.” She laughed silently hearing Cadet Cooper “Now that’s what I call timing” glancing in his direction “Expecting me?” She turned back to her instructor not really expecting a reply from her fellow Cadet. There wasn’t much to do except chat with those already in the room and wait for the Captain to show up. She was curious about what their training mission would be but hoped that lives would not be in danger like they had been with the asteroid scare.

“It was ok I noticed some errors I would like to discuss with you after the briefing though”
John smirked, Cooper had noticed the errors John had added into the emergency procedures that was a good sign. He had deliberately placed errors in the procedures to see if Cooper had actually read them and if he had if he had spotted them. This was a very good sign and showed John that Cooper actually studied his job, any good engineers had to stay on top of current procedure and new methods.
“Errors, you say – I’ll be eager for you to bring them to my attention.” John nodded then laughed
John asked about Cadet Black and how their light reading had went, with Cooper responding;
“Yes we did it is a shame I won’t have that chance with Loni Grebs I found her very interesting”
John was about to respond when the door to 10 Forward opened and who entered but none other than Cadet Loni Grebs. John turned and smiled at the young Cadet as Cooper made a quick remark:
“Now that’s what I call timing”
John chuckled heartedly, “Indeed, it would appear you have gotten your wish.” He responded to Cooper, his comment had not gone unnoticed to Cadet Grebs who had made an equally flippant remark in return to Cooper. John just smiled, then stared down at his padd with his most recent engineering schematics, where was Captain Edwards? Everyone had assembled except for the Hepta’s CO & FO, it would not be long now he reassured himself, John never liked waiting. He always preferred to be doing something, whether it be preparing reports or running diagnostics or checks.

Still waiting for the captain to arrive and update about there new mission. He looked around the room it would seem that he wasn't going to have a cadet after all. He smiled when he started thinking about cadet Grebs. I wonder if I could steal her into tatical oh well she'll make a good doctor as well he thought.
Something was bugging him though it seemed they were still missing some staff members and he got the odd feeling something had happened. Still seeing that there First officer hadn't shown up yet he tapped his combadge. " Captain Edwards the crew is assembled and waiting for your briefing" <Tag Edwards>

Though he was a fun-loving man at heart, and was not above a good-natured practical joke at times as long as it didn’t interfere with the completion of work, as those of his crew who had served with him before could attest, TJ was not anxious to bring this mission to the attention of the officers and cadets of the Hepta. The officers would swear he was joking again, and the cadets would think they had not heard the name of their new CO correctly – they would swear it was Captain Ahab!
But it wasn’t. Nor was the mission a joke. The danger was very real, albeit mysterious. Ah, well… it was part of the job, and went with the territory.
As he walked toward his destination, his comm badge beeped and K'ratak's voice followed. =^= "Captain Edwards... the crew is assembled and waiting for your briefing." =^= TJ declined to answer. As he was now only steps away from his destination, his entrance into Ten Forward would do that for him.
He steeled himself against the anticipated funny looks he was certain he’d be getting when he relayed the mission particulars to the crew, and entered Ten Forward, where the crew had gathered. Somber-faced and silent, he walked to his position and addressed those present.
"Good day t’ ye," he opened, for the first time since he could remember questioning his own sanity.
"Our beloved Hepta has for too long been at rest, an’ ‘tis anxious she is t’ be active again. Today, we grant her that wish.
"I’ve just been with the Academy Commandant t’ receive th’ new mission, an’ I’m assurin’ ye that I’m not tryin’ t’ pull a practical joke on ye here in th’ briefin’. ‘Tis assurin’ ye I am that what I’m about t’ be tellin’ ye is what I was told in th’ office o’ th’ Commandant."
And here the Irishman relayed to those present what the Academy Commandant had told him… about the ghostly ship that appeared in the Denebolan Cube and the disappearances of the crews of any craft unfortunate enough to be caught at its appearance… about the legends of the ancient Flying Dutchmen, and about how seeing the ship was an omen of death… about the victimized ships in the Denebolan Cube being found intact and undamaged, but with no trace of the crew or passengers… and about their mission to seek out, if possible, the Flying Dutchman of Denebola, and to rescue any of its victims that might still be alive.
At the end of his presentation, during which he also marked for them on the viewscreen the boundaries of the Denebolan Cube, he sighed silently and looked directly into the eyes of all present.
"Might there be any questions as t’ th’ mission?" he asked.
Tag… anyone
"Then, if no further questions are comin’… Ladies an’ gentlemen – shall we be getting’ t’ work?"

- BRIDGE - 15 minutes after the mission briefing
The Bridge was a flurry of activities. Danny ran the final diagnostics and finished just before the Captain entered. Everyone looked up at the Captain, some with surprise, some with looks thatuestioned his sanity. Danny had heard the ghost stories of the Flying Dutchman when he was a child, but he had always dismissed them as fairy-tales. Now, with the Captain looking so anxious and with the orders coming directly from the Academy Commandant, Danny had no choice but to believe them.
The clouds that had gathered on the Captain's face hadn't lifted. He sat down in his chair uneasily. "Mr Löhnen, what's the status of my ship," he asked. Danny turned around. "The crew are aboard and all accounted for Captain. All Departments have reported in and are standing by. All systems operational. We're running at peak efficiency sir. No worries there."
This seemed to relieve the Captain. He turned to the helm. "Miss Llewellyn, take us out if you please." Petty Officer Llewellyn responded with a nod and activated her controls. Slowly but surely, the ship moved out of spacedock into the great, black freedom of infinity.
"Captain, we've cleared spacedock," Danny reported once they were free of the confines of Starbase Conqueror. "Good, good," the Captain replied. "Miss Llewellyn, speed is of the essence. Set a course towards the Denebola cluster. You'll find the coördinates already programmed. Make it warp 8 if you please." The Navigation officer punched in the commands. "Warp 8 it is sir," she replied. "Engage!"
The Hepta jumped to warp, moving at incredible speeds towards the Denebola cluster and towards whatever was awaiting them out there.
All right boys and girls, we're on our way. <TAG: EVERYONE>
Crew Complement thread updated 15 July 2007.
Ship Status thread updated 17 July 2007. Please note that the Ship Status thread reflects the current status of the Hepta's shields, weapons, engines etc. as well as a mission summary in the form of an Operations Officer's Log. The Logs will also be updated on a regular basis, so if you've been away for a few days, you might want to have a look at the thread to see where we are in the story.

While standing there on the bridge thinking about there mission. He still couldn't beleave they were going to go ghost hunting. When the captain arrived on the bridge he knew that thats what they are going to go do.
Looking around and checking his read outs for shields and weapons systems status. He looked over Lohnen he had never worked with him before but the information he had receaved from inteligence stated he was a good officer. Still things were buging him he didn't mind teaching and thought it was always good for cadets to cut there teeth on real mission. Just not something like this.
Everybody knew to some degree there was no such thing as ghost. In all his travels he had never come across one. Which meant there was something else at work here still since he didn't give stock to the ghost stories he had to prepare for what was real.
When the ship engaged the ward drive he spoke up if anything to releave the tention on the brige " It would appear Captain that the ghost busters are on there way to get there ghost. I would like your permission to increase security in key area's of the ship. I dont give stock to ghost stories and dont want to be caught off guard. I will make sure security teams stay out of the way but I would like them close. Just in case our ghost ship is something of a wooden horse" <Tag Edwards>
Looking over at Lohnan he though he saw him crack a smile about the ghost buster part.

ooc: a little backpost here to get aboard...just before you guys jump to warp from wherever:)
ic:
S'reena sprinted towards the shuttlebay, where the shuttle that was going to take her to the Hepta was still waiting for her. She was late as it was, having to say goodbye to her husband and children as they would remain behind with the Hanson. She was now temporarily assigned to the Hepta as their first officer, and she did remember TJ fondly, having seen him only several weeks prior, before the Hanson went out on her most recent mission.
Panting for breath, she jumped aboard and slumped in her seat. "Away we are," she motioned for her pilot, as the young ensign worked the controls hard to get the shuttle to catch up with the Hepta. Fortunately, she wasn't out of the system yet but it was too late to start docking procedures. "Are their shields raised?"
"Negative ma'am," the pilot responded, already working out what she was going to say next. "Co-ordinates locked on Ten Forward," he continued, finding that the easiest and the safest to transport her to. "Good luck ma'am."
Seconds later, and slightly desoriented, the Romulan materialised in Hepta's Ten Forward. There, she pressed her bag into the arms of a startled ensign. "Get these to the quartermaster and tell him that Commander S'reena Hope needs quarters assigned. I'm going to the bridge." She left the stunned ensign behind and jogged to the bridge.
"Commander S'reena Hope, acting first officer reporting," she panted, "and I do apologize for being late. I assume you heard Commander Nikmud was reassigned to Earth at the last minute?"

When he noticed sombody beaming aboard the hepta with out permision as they were going to warp. Training took over he automaticly sent the ship to Red alert and started to alert his security teams.
Captain Edwards looked up at him waiting for a explanation when Commander ran on the bridge out of breath. Making the connection that it must have been her who beam aboard he canceled the red alert. " Sorry captain she beamed on with out advance warning" The Captain just nodded his head and looked at the commander.
Thats when he noticed that she was romulan and that she was letting him know she was in acting first officer which made her his boss. He may be on loan to the federation but that didn't mean he had to like taking orders from her. He would obey but he wasn't going to be happy about. He had never trusted Romulans then again he had never let any live long enought to find out.
Still he was a federation officer now and he had to follow the regs. He was fighting his urge and went back to his duties of calling off his security teams. Every once a while looking up at the view to see the starts helped calm his mood.

Loni and her instructor chatted for a while before she excused herself and headed in Cmdr. K'ratak, she wanted to let him know how much she appreciated the chance to work in Tactical even if it wasn’t her chosen field. Maybe some day she’d be allowed to do so again. she thought as she approached him. “Sir I’d like to ask you a question if I may?”
<tag K’ratak>
They were just completing their conversation when Captain Edwards entered. Loni turned in her seat to watch and listen to the Captains words. She couldn’t believe what he was saying. They were going after a ghost ship? What was to prevent them from becoming one themselves? Of course she had questions and more were forming each minute but she was sure the Captain had asked them all already so kept silent. A short time later she found herself heading for sickbay and her first duty station.

John listened intently to Captain Edwards regale the crew with the tale of the Dutchman of Denebola and how the Hepta’s first mission since repair and John’s first mission was to be a ghosthunt. John being a man of science did not believe in ghosts, nothing but a fantasy John surmised, he let out a smile as TJ explained the Hepta’s mission – this was going to be a snore fest he thought…
As TJ was summing up the Briefing he stated that Alex Nikmud had been reassigned to Earth. John shook his head, reassigning the XO whilst about to go out on a mission – it just didn’t seem right. What was Star Fleet thinking? John punched the table in a spat of rage, he trusted Alex Nikmud – she was honest, true and of the utmost integrity. John respected her and trusted her, it was a sad loss to the Hepta and to the Academy as a whole. As the Briefing ended, the crew began to file out. John turned to Cooper;
“Come on kid, lets go to Engineering and get the Engines fired up…”
(Cooper)
As they made their way to Engineering, Cooper fell a little behind as he was speaking to his fellow Cadets. Usually John would wait but he was in a bad mood and walked briskly to Main Engineering.
“Report” He yelled at one of the duty officers
“Engines standing by and ready for departure.” Replied the Ensign handing John a padd.
John decided to head to his Office just off Main Engineering, as he awaited the order to fire up the Engines to come down from the Bridge. Just as he sat down, his COMM badge beeped :
=^= Bridge to Engineering, prepare the engines for departure from Starbase Conqueror. =^=
John stood up and huffed as he left his office,
“Have engines operational for departure. Cadet Cooper, you have Engineering – I’ll be in my office if I am required.”
(Cooper)
John quickly made his way back to his Office and slouched in the chair, reviewing the padd in front of him. I’m an Engineer not a ghost hunter John kept telling himself.

"It would appear, Captain, that the ghost busters are on their way to get their ghost. I would like your permission to increase security in key areas of the ship. I dont give stock to ghost stories and don't want to be caught off guard. I will make sure security teams stay out of the way, but I would like them close – just in case our ghost ship is something of a wooden horse." TJ gave thought to the fact that, though the ships were never damaged, the crews and passengers had all vanished without a trace. H nodded thoughtfully.
"'Tis a good move you're contemplatin', Mr. Kratak. Make it so," he said as he continued his walk to the Bridge. ~ On the Bridge ...Seconds later, and slightly desoriented, the Romulan materialised in Hepta's Ten Forward.
I assume you heard Commander Nikmud was reassigned to Earth at the last minute?" For the first time since he received the current mission assignment, TJ smiled, thinking back to his days on the Hanson. It would be good to have someone with S'reena's experience in his right-hand chair.
"Welcome aboard t' ye, Commander... 'Tis happy I am t' be seein' ye again, an' sailin' with ye. As t' Ms. Nikmud's reassignment, it happened without warnin', an' I discovered it only hours a couple hours ago, after leavin' th' Commandant's office."

S'reena cast the younger man a warm smile as she shook his outstretched hand. "It is a pleasure to meet with you again captain. I don't think I ever thanked you and your lovely wife for the excellent care you've given my children. They are looking rather forward to a future stay with Uncle Thomas and Aunty Polly."
She didn't miss the brief shadow that fell across the Irish man's face, but chose not to comment on it. "At any rate, I think I should take a tour of the ship, before you brief me on current mission?"
The Romulan woman glanced about the bridge, her gaze briefly settling on the Klingon before passing on past the cadets that were present. One of her closest friends was part Klingon, so she didn't believe it ought to give her any trouble. "I would like to start in engineering," she said, "then run past sickbay for the required check up. Better be done with that part as soon as possible."
She offered TJ and the rest of the crew a sheepish smile. "I hate sickbays," she admitted, before walking back to the turbolift. "Captain, shall I meet you in your readyroom in say, an hour?" At his brief nod, she exited the bridge and departed for engineering.
"Attention!" she called forcibly, as she entered engineering, clasping her hands behind her back as she stoically walked in. She wanted to see how people would react to her, as she walked in unannounced and unintroduced.

Simon listened as the captain gave them the mission briefing, ‘well this is something I could like, a new thing’ smiling he quickly thought of how many ways this could affect the crew so he could be prepared for anything. As the briefing came to a close he made his way back to sickbay with his two cadets, “Ok, we have had our briefing, sounds like we might be lucky and have nothing serious to deal with, but there is always the chance we will find some survivors and who know what condition they will be in. So I want you both to keep busy until we are needed, I would suggest medicals as a lot of the crew have not received one recently. Cadet Grebs I believe I am sharing you with the science department, so I will leave it up to you I am sure they have a good couple of experiments on the go, or you can assist me with the medicals”
<Tag Loni>
“Ok that is fine, continue to jump between the departments while we are in this calm but I expect you here in sickbay when there are casualties.” Simon walked into sickbay and then turned to speak to Harry. “Now Cadet Schmidt, I want you to begin medicals on all new personnel and I have your first patient ready and waiting for you” Simon waited to see if the cadet would try to look for him or her. “So let’s get this started, I need to get this medical over so I can work again. I want to see you perform this correctly, but do not feel pressured, we will get to true pressure at some point or another later” Simon quickly jumped onto a bio bed while Harry looked quite nervous. “Oh before you start …” Simon hit his comm. badge =/\=Commander K'ratak and Lieutenant Uhlani could you please report in for medicals as soon as possible thank you=/\= Simon quickly wrote a note to John as well asking him and his cadet to pop in to sickbay for their medicals too
<Tag K’ratak/Uhlani/John/Cooper>
“Right not lets see how you do” Simon held his smile to see how his young cadet to react ‘most likely will think I am mad’
<Tag Schmidt>
(OOC: Loni feel free to either do medicals in sickbay or report in to the science dept, Harry complete a medical on me then start something up)
