Smiling, Jamey approached his CO and helped her to her feet. "Doctor, I'm sure you realize that in your current state... getting in that position is not really advised." Jamey said with a smirk now on his face.
Seeing the Klingon eating what seemed to be an Earth dish Jamey said, "Doctor Janeway, I don't believe I have ever seen a Klingon eating lasagna!? It happens to be one of my favorite Earth foods as well." Sitting down beside her he noticed how uncomfortable this made her and said while getting back up, "I believe that makes me a bit hungry too." Walking to the replicator and getting a small portion of lasagna for himself and a glass of red wine he then walk over to another chair. "Doctor," noticing her d'k tahg knife next to her, "Its also been a while since I have seen that type of weapon... tell me is that your family crest on the handle?"

Hawk returned to the Majesty minutes before the RED ALERT sounded. He was in the Holodeck with the program Hawk’s Home1, which was of his home-world and his home nest in particular. Hawk had a grand view of a lush green mountain valley from his nest and white snow caps on the mountains around him. Hawk so wanted to find the Book of Birds on one hand and worried about the possible effect on his people on the other. The thought of finding some of the other 2 missing flocks sent waves of joy through Hawk, but he also knew that if any outsider followed or tracked their movements, his people could again be in danger.
Hawk’s people lived in peace and solitude for generations on his cloaked world and were unsure if they were ready to chance the possibility of war again. Hawks Father would have to help the Falconian people decide as he was the Grand Condor of the Counsel of 9, elected to the High Nest as leader and protector of his people.
<Mean while on the Vesuvius>
A hail comes in to Commander Byrne from his ships computer.
=^= Commander Byrne, Commander Hawk is now alone on the Majesty’s Holodeck 3 =^=
Commander Byrne acknowledged the computer only to hear another more urgent problem arising, the appearance of Prefect Aegypius and his fleet of ships.
<Back on the Majesty>
Hawk flew from the Holodeck and into the turbolift for the bridge when he heard the alert. Just as Hawk entered the Majesty’s bridge the face of Prefect Aegypius was on the view screen.
“That Falconian is a traitor to his people!” Hawk blurted out.

Prefect looked at the screen, Vesuvius had cut communication but the Majesty took a little longer to cut comms. The lift doors at the back of the Majesty bridge opened and a Falconian emerged. Prefect sat staight up, his feathers bristling.
“That Falconian is a traitor to his people!" Hawk blurted. He pointed at the screen.
"My you've grown Hawk. It's been how many years? If your father only knew that you were associating with these humans. I'm under his orders to confront any threat to our people. You, Hawk, are that threat." Prefect waved his hand for the comm to cut and a second later it did.
He stood up from his chair.
"Nanus, lets go."
"Yes sir," Nanus replied softly. The two stepped into the lift and headed to the transported room.
The momentarily materialized on the deck of a much warmer ship. The walls were a warm earth tone in the beige family. At the base of the platform stood three individuals, all women.
"Welcome aboard the USS Vesuvius-A," Sonak started, "I am Commodore Sonak Reckus, and beside me you see Captain Kaylana Cornette of the USS Majesty and my security chief, Commander L'Ola Kanz."
"Oh we know full well who you are. I am Prefect Aegypius and this is my assistant Accipiter Nanus."
Prefect looked at the security chief and gave a small smile. She raised a curious eyebrow.
"You know Nanus, I do see a family resemblence. Do you?"
Nanus looked closely at L'Ola and nodded.
"Yes sir, indeed she does."
"If you'll follow me," Sonak asked and motioned to the door out into the corridor.
"Fantastic ship you have here Commadore," Nanus complemented. "Quite comforting compared to most Falconian ships. I don't think I've ever been on a ship with carpet before."
Sonak looked down at the floor, she'd never really thought about the carpet before. She reasoned that everyone notices different things. The carpet wasn't one of them for her.
"Thank you Accipiter," she said softly.
"Oh you can call me Nanus. Accipiter is just my rank."
"Very well. Thank you Nanus."
He smiled dutifully to himself. ~These Starfleet people aren't too bad~ he thought to himself.
They arrived at a door which opened to a small lift, not unlike the ones on all Falconian ships. They all stepped in and it wisked them to the command deck of the Vesuvius. An officer sitting in the center chair stood up as they entered. Sonak motioned him over.
"This is Commander Nick Martens, my first officer."
Prefect looked at him with an air of superiority.
"Tandaran, interesting. I thought we had wiped your kind out. I guess we were wrong." He adjusted his cape, snorted softly and walked into the briefing room. The doors closing silently behind him.

It was a question that had puzzled her since she first asked for the job of security chief. When guests from another ship beamed aboard, should she smile to look inviting (and like she normally did) or should she look stern to show that she wouldn't take any troublemaking? The resultant face could sometimes turn out very peculiar, so she had made a mental note to just pick an expression in advance. Because she'd been feeling drained lately, and being friendly to perfect strangers wasn't high on her priority list, L'Ola had chosen a blank expression. It was just as well really given the circumstances. "You know Nanus, I do see a family resemblence. Do you?" Nanus looked closely at L'Ola and nodded. "Yes sir, indeed she does." L'Ola was a little puzzled by this comment. She seriously doubted that they had met her father, even so there was little resemblance there. And she had no true brothers or sisters it couldn't be anyone else. Except... Her heart sank when she realised who they must be talking about. Luckily the blank expression on her face wasn't altered or things could have been dangerous. She stayed silent and followed with the rest of the group to the main bridge. When they got there, their guest made another puzzling remark. "Tandaran, interesting. I thought we had wiped your kind out. I guess we were wrong." before disappearing into the briefing room. L'Ola walked over to Nick, "What does he have against Tandarans?" She asked aloud ~And how does he know Lucy?~ she added silently.

"I believe any immediate dangers to her life have been averted counselor, but your help is greatly appreciated as you know this patient better than we do."
“Umm, sure,” Kedzie replied. Truth be told she wasn't sure she could talk anyone out of being suicidal, especially Liz, who Kedzie was still quite cautious around. She hurried to the ready room though, wanting to be as helpful as she could be.
She stopped just outside the readyroom, waiting for Commodore Reckus to lower the forcefield momentarily and let Kedzie in. Then she saw that Liz and Jamey were both eating lasagna, which Kedzie thought was possibly a good sign.
“Hello,” Kedzie softly greeted Liz right away, making eye contact briefly. Kedzie glanced around for a chair, since she didn't want to intrude on Liz's personal space at the moment. She found one that would put her head at about the same level as Liz's, and sat slowly down in it, then turned to Jamey and greeted him softly as well. She then continued to sit there, by not talking her intent was to avoid forcing Liz to have to say anything.

Liz noticed when Jamey came in, and heard the introductions. She didn't like it when he sat next to her, and she became a little sensitive when he started talking about her weapon and family. She put the plate down, and picked up her d'k tahg fingering the crest.
"Yes, it is all I have left now. What do you want of me?" Liz asked, and then Kedzie came in. She wondered what Ked thought of her now. She noticed Ked just sat there, and she didn't like it.
"I've almost taken my life, and you have nothing to say? What kind of counselor are you?" Liz said almost missing what Jamey said.

Maverick seemed to have nothing much to do on the ship and was getting a bit frustrated and board it seemed that with all the new faces they had every thing in order. He thought to him self, that this would be a good opportunity to take some time out on the holodeck. On entry of the holographic deck he then commenced his martial arts workout. He had been into his workout for about an hour and a half before he noticed a figure leaning against one of the pillars in the dojo. He stopped and turned towards it only to see it was the ship's library.
“Oh pleas don’t stop on my account… I was enjoying the show.” The female Vulcan said keeping her straight face.
“You would just love that wouldn’t you?” trey answered sarcastically “so what are you doing here?” he continued
“We never finished our research and our…talk…”
“So you decided to come looking for me right?”
“Yes for the good of the mission”
“Riiiiiiiight” he answered with a smile on his face getting her little joke “let me get cleaned up and I will be with you in a few” he added as the both walked off the holodeck.
[Moments later] The door to the library slid open and a fresh looking Ensign walked in.
“I didn’t think I would see you this soon you often take hours before you show or you just don’t show up at all…”
“Ha, ha very funny… would you like me to leave and return at a later time?”
With that she motions to him to come closer to one of the information consoles
“What are we looking at… it looks like the planet Vulcan” he said curiously after viewing the data screen.
“Yes it is” she replied
“I thought we were looking for hawk dudes people… we all know where to find Vulcan”
Her face remained straight but he could see a smile behind all that Vulcan exterior
“We will soon be getting to commander hawk after i tell you what happened to your parents”
Maverick stood silent for a moment all sorts of thoughts running through his mind
“Ok tell me… I guess there are more than enough people capable of handling finding hawk boy’s people” he said moments later

Finishing his impromptu meal and taking the last gulp of drink, Jamey sat the plate and glass back in the replicator and watched it vanish in hues of blue in front him. Still being amazed by this after all this time, he let just a short moment pass before he responded to Liz.
"Liz, you don't mind if I just call you Liz do you?" Jamey asked, never really liking the formalness of the whole rank thing. "I wondered why a Klingon would want to kill themselves, I don't know all there is to know about the Klingon's but I do know there would very little honor in that. Then I thought, you may not be "in to" all that honor talk? But what ever the case is, you are hurting right now. I think it is for far more reasons than simply being alone; in fact it is because of the lack of your needs being cared for ... that is what "alone" really is anyway. Seeing others talking to family, friends while you simply head back to your quarters after duty. But, enough of all that counselor talk, what do you say ... where are you? ... I mean by that ... you are at a place where it must be hurting so much that the pain is unbearable ... because your got to the point that death was the only feasible way out. What do you say Liz ... I have ears ... I will hear you ... let the words come out of you mouth that need to."
Taking the seat he originally had, next to Liz not matter if it made her uncomfortable or not, he wanted her to know that he was going to hear her no matter the externals. He reached for the knife, she reluctantly let go, then Jamey started running his fingers over the crest. He saw the blade was sharp and clean so he knew that she still had compassion for something that this knife meant; if she didn't it would show rust. Jamey then looked into her eyes to let her know that he was there for her.

Sonak frowned, not liking the prefect's words one bit, but ignored them for now. ~we will deal with that later~ she warned Nick, hoping dearly these Falconians weren't telepathic. One could never know, especially with off-shoots.
(Martens)
The Vulcan also knew that there was something more to the resemblance remark the prefect made when watching L'Ola, but decided that this was not discussable right now either. She was only too aware that L'Ola was trying to find Lucy. She and Nick were two of only a handful of people who knew Lucy's true relationship to L'Ola, and she wasn't about to discuss this in public. ~this too can wait for now, until the prefect and I can speak privately~ she thought, casting L'Ola a warning glance. ~we will find her, I promise~
(Kanz)
"This way please," she instructed the older Falconian, leading him and his 'aide' to the conference room. "Captain Cornette, would you please contact Commander Hawk and request his presence at this meeting?"
(Cornette/Hawk)
Sonak knew that they would need help at this meeting. "Reckus to Teyno, you have missed a briefing and some excitement. Report to briefing room one immediately!"
(Teyno)

Maverick’s convocation with the Vulcan was not even off the ground before he looked at his chrono meter
“hey can this wait till later or to tomorrow, am late for my shift and I need to be there, haven’t really been pulling my weight lately” he walk of with out giving her an opportunity to answer or react. She shook her head as the door closed behind him. He made his way to the turbo lift and leaned on the wall. He remained motionless for a moment before he let out a huge grunt followed by his fist connecting with the wall.
“why did I just do that?” was the question he asked him self “I mean I spent most of my years trying to find out what happened to my parents… and I get the opportunity to find out what do I do? I run away” he then began to hit his head against the wall the lift came to a Holt and the doors opened. He slowly turned around cleared his thought and straightened his uniform and walked onto the bridge
“Where’s sonak?” He asked one of the crew members
“She’s in the briefing room” one replied
“ whats going on?”
“ well it seem like hawks people found us instead”
“bird boy’s people are here?”
“Yes sir” He stood next to the conn for a moment before he decided to go take a pick
“What is it sir?” the crew man asked
“its nothing am going in, some things not quite right here”
“what do u main?”
“ from what I gathered this people went through a lot to keep them self hidden, why would those guys expose them self, some thing just don’t add up , tell you more when I get back” he said to the crew man as he made his way to the briefing room.

“What kind of counselor are you?” Liz asked.
“The only one I know how to be,” Kedzie replied softly, deliberately keeping her tone non-confrontational. If Liz was trying to provoke Kedzie into feeling defensive, which was quite possible, Kedzie was going to try her hardest to resist that. And if Liz wasn't trying to put Kedzie on the defensive than there was no reason for Kedzie to try to defend her actions.
“Besides,” Kedzie said, saying one of the things that was coming to mind, “Jamey is probably talking enough for the both of us.” Kedzie briefly glanced at Jamey, hoping he wouldn't overly mind that she was pointing out his behavior, then Kedzie made eye contact again with Liz.
Kedzie could tell already that her approach differed greatly from Jamey's, and wondered briefly if Kedzie being there was going to reduce the effectiveness of whatever it was Jamey was trying. Probably, and vice versa, but from what Kedzie could tell her trying to leave would be even more disruptive. But Kedzie's approach wasn't going to work with Jamey here, filling all the silences, so Kedzie just guessed she would have to follow Jamey's lead, which at the moment meant staying silent to give Liz a chance to answer.

Liz noticed when Jamey was sitting next to her, and she wasn't sure she liked him rubbing her family crest.
"What do you know of being alone? What is it you know of any of this? You don't know anything about me, and yet you want to say I should live and move on?!" Liz burst out, and went to take back her weapon. Jamey didn't let her have it though making her even more mad.
"Look, right now I don't want to talk, I just want my family. I want not to be alone, and I don't think either of you understand that. I don't need another person to talk to," Liz said not sure how else to spell it out to them. She was tired of talking, tired of explaining this. ~Why don't they get it? Do I have to do everything?~

Hearing this startled Jamey for just a moment, however it didn’t show; he wasn’t sure how Kedzie’s role played out on her ship but he knew that his method was not the normal way. Turning to Kedzie Jamey said, “Counselor, I’m simply trying to start conversation…” and then was abruptly interrupted by Liz.
Turning to Liz, she tried to take her knife back but Jamey head the handle firm and she didn’t risk cutting herself by taking the blade; that let Jamey know that she wasn’t really that serious about killing herself. “What do I know about you being alone? Nothing and I never said you should move on, in fact, I would say you haven’t dealt with the issue in any manor so that you even could move on.” Jamey was now looking at Kedzie with a disapproving look but said nothing.
Jamey, standing, placed the knife in the seat next to Liz in a manor that told her not to pick it up. “Liz, that is fine. If you don’t want to talk about it, then we will not talk about it… however I do want you to know that behaving this way will only assure you one thing… being more alone. Isolating, blurting out assumptions and of such will not create an environment where people will want to be around you. Now, I would recommend some type of leave of duty if you were on my ship, but seeing how your not, I would simply say to you… if you need me, please come by and see me in my office before the Majesty leaves when this mission is over. If Kedzie would agree with some leave, then I would suggest trying to go back to your home world and look for your family.” Liz was starting to have a look of ‘why go and do that’, on her face… she didn’t have to ask but Jamey added, “There is honor in finding family.” Turning to leave the ready room seeing his welcome had been over stayed, “Kedzie, I would like to meet with you before you return to your ship, this mission we are on needs more,” looking at her with disenchantment, “…talk”.
---Joint Post Edit---
Liz stood up not wanting Jamey to leave and with the same blurting voice said, "Commander, ...uh Jamey, Please don't leave."
Jamey responded, "Liz, you said you didn't want to talk... what is on your mind? ... would you like to get out of this office and go get a drink?"
Liz looked to the floor, shuffled her feet and in a quieter voice replied, "that would be nice".
Jamey dropped the force field that the CO had in place and all three walked out of the ready room.

"Reckus to Teyno, you have missed a briefing and some excitement. Report to briefing room one immediately!"
Teyno decided that being late would not do for now, so he dropped what he was doing and immediately proceeded to briefing room one.
He entered and took in the surroundings and the people already there. He made eye contact with Sonak.
"Teyno, reporting as requested. Glad you've decided to include me." He said sarcastically, taking a seat.

After locking onto Commander Hawk, Byrne commanded the emergency transporters to beam Hawk into the Main Engineering of the Vesuvius. Once transport ended, Byrne commanded the computer to shield Hawk's presence on the ship. "Commander, here's a head's up, right about now the prefect of the Falconian Empire is upstairs. And right now, your head just might served on a platter as a deserter and traitor to your own race. Do you or have you known why they have come out of seclusion for this encounter? I need to know about the core of their technology, but only to the extent of being able to protect ourselves if engaged. I am sure the Majesty has this protection, based on the remarks from Captain Cornette, but I am not going poking in your database. This has to be an equal exchange. Once you have entered the info into this secure PADD, I will escort you to the Briefing room to confront the Prefect and the Commodore." <TAG Hawk> Heading for the turbolift, he handed the PADD back to Hawk to ensure his trust and tapped his comm badge to let to Security Chief that he was with Commander Hawk on the ship and heading up to the Bridge to meet the rest of the command staff. Upon reaching the Bridge, Byrne exited the turbolift with Hawk, and all he got was glares from the staff. Commander Martens ran to the couple and gave him a sharp jab to Byrne's arm and a glance to figure out what he was doing. <TAG Sonak>

Nik looked at Fox and Fox looked at Nik. Seeing as the rest of the crew were on the Vesuvius, they were technically the senior staff of the Majesty.
"Well.. Seeing as were in charge, maybe we should take it for a little ride somewhere I'm sure that no-one would mind" Nik said smirking.
"Well I'm sure their are at least 2 superiors who wouldn't be too pleased about it, and then theirs the rest of star-fleet command who would no doubt come down on us like a tonne of bricks."
"Ahh ok.. maybe not such a good idea then... well we should try and make contact with the Vesuvius and see what they want us to do. Maybe its a conspiracy and they just want us out the way?"
"Well we should try and make contact. I'll arrange for a secure message to be sent to the bridge of the Ves, hopefully nothing alarming is happening out their." Fox said, then retracting his statement. "Maybe you oughta send the message as it is your ship and all"
Nik laughed at the idea of the majesty being his.
"OK. I will. I think Hawk was around somewhere as well. And can you turn that red flashing light off its getting annoying........"
They both smirked at that and carried on with the task in hand.

Liz walked with him to the turbolift with Ked nearby. "Could it just be us?" She said hoping Ked had other plans.
A little later they were alone in the turbolift. She was a little nervous, but did her best not to show it.
"Something you said earlier bothers me. I can't go back to the Klingon homeworld, I have no family there, and am only half Klingon. I have no family on the other homeworld either," she said hoping he understood.
The ride was silent, and they went to his office. Once inside she sat on the couch putting her weapon on his table. She didn't want to put it away yet, since if felt wrong to do so.
"Jamey, I know something is wrong with me, I can sense it. I can't meditate at all, and I don't like this one bit. I don't think its something I can fix though, at least not by myself. What would you suggest?"

Sonak glanced up as Teyno entered, but chose not to reply to his comment. She knew he was trying her with his taunts, but they were not having any visible effect on her.
She was however, visibly surprised to see Byrne enter unannounced, accompanied by Hawk. And the expression on Hawk's face was one of fury. It was also evident he had something to say, but Sonak cast him a warning glance, then nodded towards Cornette. "Captain, as you know much more about Falconians than I do, perhaps you should lead this meeting. You especially know much more about one Falconian in particular." This time she nodded towards Hawk, noticing also that Trey had entered the room, looking more alert than ever.
What she also didn't miss was the charged phaser Trey was wearing as he stood at attention near the door, his hands clasped behind his back, and his gaze fixed on the opposite wall. Yet it was also clear to the Vulcan that Trey was very much aware of what was going on, seeing his eyes darting from side to side as he gazed around the room from time to time.
Sonak herself took on a protecting position before the Falconian prefect. "You were saying?" she prompted, gazing directly at the older bird-like creature, "I assume you have met Commander first Class Hawk? From your expression, I can tell that you have. And I can also see that Commander Hawk is less than pleased to see you. Would you care to explain why?"

Seeing the hostility in the room, and knowing Trey had their backs, Byrne gave the Commodore a glance showing that most of the bases were covered on their side. Nudging Hawk slightly, he motioned to Hawk, with his eyes, to lock the PADD down and pass it to Trey until it could be put in Captain Cornette's hands. Waiting for the feathers to fly, Byrne waited for his pre-programmed to download to the Commodore's personal viewscreen. Something got the 'Birds' in a tailspin. He was hoping that this was not his fault by going to look for the legendary book he was hoping to find. Hawk really didn't need this right now. And after the false readings he read on the bridge, there was way too much that the crew didn't know about their guests. And he wanted to stock pile a mountain of knowledge for the moments coming. Once Commordore Sonak announced Commander Hawk to the Falconians, he stepped back a small pace to allow Trey a little more fire room if he needed it. Something just didn't feel right, he kept thinking if this was a deterent in the mission. Hoping that the two crews would have a little more drive to get past this, but buy time to see what these bird-like people were planning against them. After seeing the nod from Sonak, he knew they had the upper hand. <TAG Sonak>

The Majesty's bridge doors opened and entered Commander Aarons. He looked around surveying who and what he had to work with. Michael was crazy, but... well actually that's it. However what he had planned was the most boldest thing he had ever done aside from writing "LOGIC SUCKS" on the Vulcan embassy (too bad they had to go tag an "IL" to the start of it). Aarons: =^=Transporter room have you located Mr. Byrne?=^= Chief: =^=Aye sir.=^= Aarons: =^=Energize!=^= Suddenly a very startled officer materialized via site-to-site on the bridge. Byrne: "What I'm doing here?!" Aarons: "Well considering we have absolutely no idea who our current Chief Engineer here is, we thought we'd borrow you. Besides this joint mission was your idea so you're kinda' important. By the way, you know how to fluctuate a warp field?" Byrne: "I'm an engineer, it be blasphemous if I couldn't." Aarons: "Good! You're totally qualified!" He entered a command into his work console then, "Here we go!" The Majesty pulled away at .7c which caused an alarm to sound at the stress on the hull's structural integrity, Nik compensated. The whole event was completely unforeseen and as such, the Falconian ships were unprepared to react in time. Ensign Maverick, or whoever was on duty, tried to keep up with them but was thwarted by the Falconians whilst another gave chase to the Majesty, who by now was at Warp 9.9 and was quick to do so. Aarons: "Nik how long would it take them to catch up with us?" Nik: "Considering the way you took off and the speed we're going, we should have quite a head start." In fact, Falconian ships weren't all that fast to begin with and they didn't need to, their ability to cloak pretty much made up for that. Aarons: "Good, right now we're on course for Federation space, with any luck we should have a small task-force waiting for us. Gypsy can you see to that?" The lone Falconian ship chased after the Federation starship, but not in time to prevent them from making it to Federation territory where upon reaching it a small group of ships waiting to render aid to the Majesty. Amongst those present were a few Mirandas, an Oberth, Excelsior, and a Rigel, but the most impressive of the ships was simply a Nebula-class. The tailing ship broke pursuit and made a stand off with the Starfleet ships. Was it going to fire, or was it smarter than that? Finally, it turned around and resumed cloak. The other starships took formation to begin a tachyon field against the "enemy" vessel. Byrne: "I can't believe you've just done that!" Aarons: "Why? What's the problem?" Gypsy: "You just left the captain, Dr. Janeway, Kedzie, that NPC Trish, Hawk, and if I'm not mistaken Darian as well!" Aarons: "And there's not a single part of that I don't find wrong, immoral, or a problem for myself." ;D Aarons casually sat down on the captain's chair staring at Logan. "Well, Mr. Byrne, I believe you have a book to find." <Byrne> OFF: I swear I totally posted this before reading your IM Logan (or noticing that you had slipped a post between me and Sonak just now), but considering I have no idea what you were saying in it... too late.

"We will deal with this later." Words he absolutly hated hearing. It generally meant nothing was going to be done about the issue. That's why he and L'Ola were on their way to the brig.
"You're sure," she asked him.
"Yes I'm sure. This is the only way without a bloody war on our hands. Remember it's us versus 6 of them."
"We're prepped for MVA at the drop of a hat," she said, the CTSO was becoming more comfortable for her evidently. She suited the gunslinger reputation well. ~must be the Klingon upbringing~ he thought to himself, careful that L'Ola didn't pick it up.
They arrived at the brig. The double doors opened and they entered. The two guards nodded at their arrival and stepped back from their consol.
Nick walked over in front of the cell containing Kate. L'Ola stood beside him. Kate looked up, then stood up. She pounded her fist on the sides of the cell.
"It's time," she said. Her Klingon compatriots stood up as well. L'Ola turned around to the guards and ordered them to drop the forcefields.
"Sorry Ma'am. We're under orders from the Commodore not to drop the fields unless prisoners are being transfered by armed guards."
"Thats too bad," she said as Nick dropped them with his phaser. This wasn't too worrysome as he'd disabled the internal sensors in that section of the ship. L'Ola reached over and dropped the force fields on the cells and the Klingons gingerly stepped out.
Nick walked to the weapons locker and pulled out phaser rifles for the ragtag group of Klingons. Kate picked up one as well.
"So, how long have you been planning this?" L'Ola asked Nick and Kate. The two just smiled and chuckled to themselves.
"A while," they both replied at the same time.
"Don't worry. We're not going kill anything," Kate tried to comfort. She looked at her Klingons sternly, they all nodded in forced agreement.
"Let's roll," Nick said standing by the door.
~~~a few minutes later~~~
The bridge was clean, no one to be found. Well that should be expected since they had beamed everyone to the cargo bay. Would be pretty shocking to be working one minute at your station and the next sitting on the floor in the sealed cargobay.
"Good work," Nick said to L'Ola, who'd just locked every crewmember on the ship either in the quarters or beamed them into the cargobays.
Kate pulled up a monitor showing the procedings in the conference room. Hawk had arrived with Logan moments before they took the bridge.
"He's leaving," Kate reported.
"Alrighty. Everyone in position." He quickly punched a message into the computer and sent it to Sonaks padd. It read, "Please don't hate me."
The doors opened from the briefing room to Prefect and Nanus. Nick and Kate stood blocking their way with rifles across their chests.
"Prefect Aegypius and Accipter Nanus, under the authority of the joint Tandaran/Falconian Intelligence agency I place you under arrest for warcrimes commited against the Tandaran people."
Prefect didn't say anything, he just nodded and Nanus tossed something at him. Nick instinctivly caught the object. He turned it over in his hand to look at it. It beeped quickly and suddenly exploded in a fireball, vaporising the Vesuvius' first officer.
The smoke cleared to show that Prefect and Nanus had been transported away.
Kate hit the command pad next to the briefing room door and locked everyone inside. She slouched into the wall,slid to the ground and started sobbing. L'Ola looked on in shock from the aft stations of the bridge.
"Falconian flagship is moving off," T'lana reported from the helm.
"Follow them!" Kate ordered, she wiped the tears from her face and moved to the center chair.
"Engaging cloaking device," Klang commented. The bridge lighting changed to a dimmer setting, more condusive to combat readiness.
"Lets get these turkeys," Kate said. She hit the comm.
=/\=T'ag here=/\=
"How's engineering Mr. T'ag?"
=/\= Everything is working Mistress.=/\=
"Good. Keep me updated."
She looked up at L'Ola, who still looked like a truck had just hit her.
"We'll get Lucy back. He would have wanted it this way."
L'Ola just nodded and sat down in one of the chairs at the back stations.
"Book of the birds is a myth," Prefect reiterated, "It doesn't exist."
"We have discovered evidence it actually does," Sonak countered. She pulled up some documents on the screen. Nanus looked at the screen then at Prefect, then back to the screen. His eyes filled with wonder.
The briefing room doors opened and another Human walked in. A marine apparently. He took up a post behind the Commodore and stood at attention. Sonak looked up at him and nodded.
"Security isn't needed Commodore," Prefect commented on the new arrival.
"It is ship policy Prefect. Nothing to be alarmed about."
"Comforting," he replied, his brow slightly frowning. Nanus was still looking around in awe, he'd never been amongst other races before. "Nanus, quite gawking at the aliens."
"Yes sir," he replied returning his gaze to the screen.
A second pair barged into the room, this time it was a human and Hawk. Prefect stood from his chair, his feathers standing up on his neck.
"Now is this necessary?" Nanus asked of Sonak, disdane in his eyes towards Hawk.
"This man is a traitor to our race Nanus," Hawk said.
"The only traitor I see in this room is you Mr. Hawk," Prefect shot back. "Precipitation of relations with Humans. It's appawling to even think of what things you've engaged in with these...these.. beings." He stammered.
"Contrary to what you think these people are not our enemies," Hawk stated motioning to the crewmembers seated around him. "They're peaceful, kind and I'm proud to call them my friends."
"Heresy!" Prefect, who had just sat down spewed. His face turning bright red in anger.
Nanus looked perplexed and cocked his head, not at Hawk but something else. He put his finger to his earpeice and listened. Seconds later Logan disapeared abruptly.
"We need to go sir," Nanus stated urgently to Prefect.
"Agreed. There's no reason any furthur to these meetings. Good day Commodore." He stood up with Nanus and moved towards the door. It opened to reviel the Tandaran he'd offended earlier, this time he was armed with a second Tandaran behind him, a female.
"Prefect Aegypius and Accipter Nanus, under the authority of the joint Tandaran/Falconian Intelligence agency I place you under arrest for warcrimes commited against the Tandaran people."
Without replying Nanus tossed a device at Nick, who in turn caught said device. It beeped twice and exploded vaporising the Commander. When the smoke cleared Prefect and Nanus were no where to be found, having instituted an emergency transport off ship.
Sonak was about to tell her FO to stand down and demand an explanation on why Kate was out of her cell, when Nanus tossed an object at him. A second later, the object exploded and her first officer was vapourized.
She was dimly aware of Trey pushing her back and down rather hard, at the same time pulling Cornette down as well. She watched in shock as Kate stepped back and locked the doors to the room. With her still were Kaylana, Hawk and Trey, Logan having been beamed out without warning only seconds before Nick had barged in, demanding the Falconian prefect's arrest.
Sonak sat on the deck, leaning against the wall as she tried to sort her thoughts. 'Do not hate me' Nick had sent her before he was...~killed?~ she thought, not believing yet he could be dead. "Captain, please state your observations of what happened just now," she demanded, then glared at Hawk. "You too commander. Ensign, what did you see? I want to know if my eyes were deceiving me."
She yelped as her baby was getting restless and pressed her arms across her abdomen, unconsciously wanting to protect her unborn. She was still a little under two months away from her due date. "Computer, lock on to our signals, and beam us to sickbay," she ordered, but nothing happened.
"He was thorough," she scowled, visibly angry, "he blocked my command codes. Captain, you give it a try. Perhaps he changed it such that you will be recognized. Trey, use your phaser rifle to blast open that door if you have to, we need to get out of here."
Sonak felt emotionally and physically drained as she simply sat there on the deck, not even bothering to get up on her own accord. She felt betrayed, and she still couldn't believe Nick had betrayed her like that, not coming forward to her with his concerns, instead releasing Kate and even getting the security chief to join her behind her back.
The two walked down the corridor towards sickbay where the CNS office was adjacent to, entering, Jamey turned on his holographic water fall that he took everywhere with him. The sound from the water was calming to him as he grew up next to falls on Trill. The lighting in the room was changed to mimic light that was reflecting off of the water, in hues of blue and gray with some green overtones. Jamey had used this method during his sessions from his second year in the Academy. He found that most home worlds had some type of running liquid and that it calmed the mind; even if the liquid was frozen it still was a respected element.
Jamey walked to the replicator and replicated the two of them drinks; not really knowing that much about the Klingon side of Liz he replicated a Earth drink called a mudslide. Sitting down next to Liz on the couch he handed her the drink, "Its called a Mudslide, its cold and very sweet and I have found it just a great think to lift one's mood."
Jamey sat and listened to Liz talk and soon she was back to another question,
"Liz," Jamey responded, "Nothing is 'wrong' with you I'm sure of it but if you would like we could go to sick bay and run a scan just to make sure nothing physiologically is going on?"
Liz's facial expression answered the question as 'no'. So, Jamey continued, "I would think that the Vulcan side of you is in conflict with the Klingon side ... it is kind of like the old saying 'mixing oil and water'. I would suggest seeing a Vulcan meditation consultant, they could help you; but before that I have a few things you can try."
<LIZ>
Some time had passed and Jamey was making good progress with Liz but her insistent idea that something was wrong with her was still coming up in the conversation from time-to-time. "I think Liz, that we need to take a break and go get some dinner. I hear that the mess hall is serving a home cooked meal, it will be interesting to find what home they are talking about." Liz looked up with a smile on her face, the first one Jamey had ever seen and he thought to himself that is very attractive smile. "Come, lets go see if we can get some of that food." Jamey suggested.
The both stood, and started for the door of his office. Expecting the door to open as always, Jamey nearly ran into it. He reached over with a confused look and pressed the button next to the door and all that was heard was the familiar no activation sound. "Huh, I wonder what is going on with that?" Jamey said with disbelief. "Computer," Jamey quizzed, "Open the CNS office door." The computer simply didn't reply. Hitting his comm badge, "Commander Jamey to bridge... come in". Still, no reply. "Computer," Jamey quizzed once again and the result was the same. "I think we are locked in," Jamey said to Liz. The two tried for several more times with the same result. No matter what they tried the door stubbornly remained locked.
"Well... Lets try to see if we can get a message out on my desk computer." Jamey suggested as he walked over to his desk. Liz reached up and took his arm and said, "why don't we just stay here and eat, I'm sure its just a computer malfunction or something."
Jamey thought this was strange, but he just smiled and walked over to the replicator, "What would you like?"
Kedzie frowned at herself, as Jamey reacted to her hasty words. Kedzie had regretted her words almost just after she had said them, knowing they could be interpreted easily other than the way she had intended them. But this whole situation had her on edge, and she had messed up.
Jamey was going to leave, and Kedzie was almost positive it was her fault. After all, she had made the comment about talking, which really had only been a way for her to justify to herself her inability to say anything comforting. Light! Kedzie thought. She so should not have become a counselor. She didn't seem to be any good in counseling other people, but seemed to be at least adequate at psychoanalyzing her own thoughts.
But before Jamey could leave Liz called after him, asking him to stay, and Kedzie knew that he was succeeding in what she hadn't. And Kedzie also knew that her being around was cramping Jamey's style, and if anyone could help Liz then they should be able to do whatever they thought could help.
"Could it just be us?" Liz asked, and Kedzie nodded.
“Of course,” Kedzie said, nodding tentatively toward both Jamey and Liz, then walking away.
She hadn't gotten far, and hadn't figured where she was going, apart from the semi-mythical land of 'elsewhere' when a transporter beam caught her and transported her to somewhere she didn't recognize. There were a lot of other people around though, and based on the amount of goods around, Kedzie would have to guess some kind of storage area. But from listening to other people she found she was close; they were in one of the cargobays.
Kedzie sneezed once, then continued to look around to see if she could do anything to help. She doubted it though, but she looked around for someone in the familiar yellow of engineering or security. She found an engineer working his way to the door. “Can I help?” Kedzie asked.
“Do you have any engineering experience?” he asked, pulling out the toolcase he had been bringing with him for his original plan of fixing a replicator, glad that he had it along.
“No, sorry,” Kedzie sheepishly apologized.
“That's fine.” The engineer, Marc Lieban, glanced at her as if to figure out something that he could do, when he spotted someone else walking towards the door. “No, no,” he told the security officer that was leveling her phaser towards the door.
“I'm going to try to get us out of here,” the security officer, Ensign Zara Tyrir told him.
“Fine, but try over there,” Lieban told her, pointing towards an area he knew led out to the corridor and had less electronics resting behind it than usual. “If you try to fire at the door and it doesn't work then I won't be able to manually override it, which I probably can as things stand now.
Kedzie had resigned herself to be helpless when Ensign Tyrir asked Kedzie if she could clear the area where Ensign Tyrir was planning to aim the phaser. Kedzie nodded, and set about trying to help.
