All the bridge crew were in their places and than a Commander walked onto the bridge, it was transfer Commander who was taking the Raven to earth, the ceremony had to take place, soemthing Weill very ambigious about.
Lennec: " I am Commander Lennec the transfer officer"
Weill: " Yes i know, welcome aboard"
They stood up and looked at each other and the whole crew went to attention as over the tannoy the voices went over
Lennec: " I come to relieve you"
Weill: " I stand relieved, transfer all command codes to Commander Lennec"
Weill walked about and hour later ad all had been transported to a holding station on the station, Weill walked out of the bridge, which was empty and put his hand on the back of the command chair, it had been his first command he was going to miss her.
2 Hours later
Captain Weill was having a coffeee with his Commander as the whole crew had gone off the Raven, as the transfer crew were preparing to take it to earth, they were just thinking and than a call came through
Clark: " Captain Weill, Your new ship is entering the starbase"
Weill: " Thankyou Admiral, Lets take a look Commander"
Weill and Majeski walked to the observation window and lots of the rest of the crew joined them, the ship was slowly moving into the dock, she was gliding and her nameplate was updated with the USS Raven A sign and it was an intrepid class, elegant, though smaller than the Raven it was updated.

Alex was extremely tired and sat sipping some coffee in a restaurant on Starbase Bellicose. Once he had heard that the Raven was being decommissioned, he had called an emergency meeting of the Science Department. There was a fair bit of research going on aboard the Raven, and he would have to oversee it all being transferred to computers on the Bellicose, and then onto the new ship. He would have preferred a direct transfer, but he had been told that they were getting a smaller ship and he wasn't sure his entire staff was coming with him.
He had told his staff and had them come up with a plan to transfer data, then contacted the head of the Starbase science department, a Commander Nella Darin and asked her to find space on the Starbase for his department. She had been accomodating and space had been found.
His department had spent the rest of the trip transferring data, taking up almost every subspace channel to do it. By the time that they had reached Bellicose, the majority of digital data was transferred and lab experiments had been packed up and were ready to transport.
Once all the work was done, Alex had given his department two days leave, after asking the Captain's permission. They had worked their hearts out for him, and Alex could see the fatigue setting in. They needed some time off.
He was taking some time off too, which had led him to this place. He had heard that the new Raven was approaching and wanted to see her come in.
There was a call across the room "USS Raven A, arriving." Alex walked over to the window as the giant doors opened. He was bitterly disappointed when he saw the Intrepid class ship enter. They were good ships, but only carried about 150 crew, whereas the Raven had carried over 800. He was going to be losing a lot of his staff as there wouldn't be the space to hold them.
Alex turned to go back to his chair and happened to see Captain Weill and Commander Majeski watching the ship come in.
They had returned to their table by the time Alex had managed to walk over. "Excuse me sir, but is it all right if I join you?"
"Of course, Commander" said the captain. "Have a seat..."

Isildur slumped into a chair at the observations lounge on Bellicose. The gear he had packed several hours ago sitting in a large pile. Isildur saw several raven officers standing in a circle. Too bad my friends are not here Isildur thought to himself as he looked out the window. A ship drew his attention. It was quite small compared to the ship he had been serving on for several months. He knew it was an intrepid class satrship. It was the name that caught his attention. It read NCC-750059-A as Isildur smiled the crew of the Raven stood up. We are home he thought to himself as Weill stood up to adress the crew.

=/\= Bellicose Command operations center=/\=
After Lt, cmdr Burgess left his office, Admiral Clark hurriedly downloaded his notes into his PADD. He then made his way to the replicator on the far wall and keyed in directions for several items which materialized almost instantly. Picking up all the objects, he quickly began to make his way out of his office and towards the Conference Room where, if he hurried, he would be there on time.
Walking through the Operations center, one of the Ensigns stopped him. "Sir, there was an Ambassador K'Gar wishing to speak with you..."
Adm Clark stopped in his tracks. "Ambassador KGar ??" he asked. "Who is that?"
The Ensign grinned a little. "I believe a new Klingon Ambassador. The Ambassador landed just a short while ago at the Spaceport in what the computer is identifying as some type of Yacht... of Klingon design," he said with more than a little emphasis. "He mentioned something about setting up a meeting with you..."
Admiral nodded slowly. Although they weren't particularly close to Klingon space, it was only a matter of time before they took notice of the Confederation's expanded presence here. "Put him through," Adm Clark said as he turned to face the main view-screen.
"Umm... sorry, sir," the Ensign said nervously. "We've lost the comm.-link... he must have discontinued the call..."
"Very well, send a message to the Ambassador that I'll be pleased to meet with him sometime tomorrow morning," he said as he exchanged a glance with the Ensign, who nodded and went back to his duties. Taking his cue from the Ensign, Adm Clark nodded and continued making his way to the Conference Room... if he hurried now, he would only be a few minutes late...
=/\= Conference Room 3 deck 4 =/\=
Upon walking into the Conference Room, Adm Clark nodded towards several of the Raven senior command officers whom had already gathered. Including Captain Weil As he made his way to the head of the table, the officers all got to their feet at once. "As you were," Adm Clark replied as he nodded his head. He placed the PADD and the pile of objects on the table with several people casting curious glances at the collection.
After everyone had retaken their seat, Adm Clark remained standing, then cleared his throat. "Thank you all for coming," he began. "For those of you that may not know ... As a new Commander I was the Commanding Officer of the Raven back when she was new strait from the ship yard. Admiral Clark >then took his seat at the head of the table as they began to head over to there new Ship . Several of the officers he knew from his early time on raven , like the chief medical officer Cmdr Lise and some junior officers as well .” There were also several officers that he knew of, but hadn't met during his time on the Raven mission before as well as many new faces. Notably absent was Lt. Commander Nicole Mason, his former Chief of Security. He fervently hoped that she would be found and would be unharmed, but he doubted star fleet worked that way...
After the meeting were finished and all of the raven crew had left Admiral Clark > sat in his Chair .as Head 2nd fleet Operations "Admiral Harry G, Vench General Mark Dawn /V,Adm crown /Col. Weill saw the Admirals body fizzle back off of the padd, Weill tuned and saw his crew in their dress uniforms,
Weill: " Well all bridge crew to the bridge, CEO you can go and check you new companion and Docotor please check Sickbay if you so wish, than i want all crew to settle in, go to quarters etc, Commander Majeski will be sorting all of thoses out"
The crew moved away, Weill walked out and looked the corridors were very different, he got into the turbolift with the senior staff, they moved up and than the doors opened, Weill face became mostonless, he slowly walked onto the bridge the rest of the crew stayed a few steps behind, he walked behind his chair and put his hand on the bar
Weill: " We're back"
Majeski: " We are indeed sir,"
Weill went and sat in his chair and it felt much better, he felt he was where he should be, all the rest of the crew went to their positions and checked them
Weill: " That looks comfortable Mr Dixon"
The bridge was like that of Voyagers and the Csco was to the left of the Conn in an alcove
Dixon: "It is thankyou sir"
Weill got up and walked around a bit, than he turned he walked towrads the Ready rooms door
Weill: " Commander, you have the bridge, i better check in here"
He walked in and he was even more amazed, it was large, a desk opposite the entranbce and a door to the left, there was a replicator and settee near a very long window, it wasa lot bigger than his old ready room and quite comfortable.
Weill: " Weill, to storage room 11"
Clerk: "What can i do for you Captain"
Weill: " Can you transport my read room contaciner over"
It materialized and he opened it and took out a model of the USS Agamemnon, a ship from the 1700 & 1800s and he placed it on the shelf going round the desk, he than looked and moved it onto a plinth near the door, he tha took out the crate of book, which included biographies or Nelson and Cochrane and the Federation constiution, than lastly his medal case, it was filling out a bit from when he first got it, and he than slotted it into a draw.

"Ten?! That's all? I have over 60 right now!!" Alex said in a loud and agitated voice.
Commander Majeski sat in his chair, his face expressionless as he winced inwardly. He had been having conversations like this with his department heads since the switch to the new ship. He had been informing them how many were allowed in each of their departments, and it was now Sciences' turn.
"I'm aware of how many staff that you had aboard the Raven. Our new ship is much smaller. You have the same proportion of staff as you had aboard the Raven. Everyone is in the same boat, Mr. Dixon. Do the best you can. Dismissed."
"Yes, sir" Alex said, turned away from the First Officer and returned to his station. "Computer, access and display USS Raven Science deparment manifest." The list of 60 names came up. Alex had to cut 50 of them. The first 30 were done easily. The Raven had some departments that were quite unusual to have aboard a starship and were more suited to a Starbase or larger ship. He was sure the Starfleet could find a place for them. After that, it became very difficult. Everyone left on the list seemed to be essential. After a lot of reading, examination of personel jackets and reports Alex got his list down to 10.
Alex had decided to retain his department organization and department heads Quarel, Collaan and Ruten. He posted the remaining personel into the correct departments and sent the list to Commander Majeski. He then sent the list of people he had to leave behind to Starfleet Personel with the request that they be reassigned.
Alex then started tracking down those who were to be reassigned. He thought that they deserved to be told face to face.

Isildur looked pleased after he had recieved word from Commander Majeski as he was headed for his new quarters. The commander had made a point not to move the crew too far away from the locations of their old quarters. The ensign looked at his new room and smiled. So this is my new home better make use of it he thought to himself as he started unpacking.

About one hundred people to take care of instead of 800, Lise didn't really mind. Her relationship with medical crew was only professionally and so was the other way around. Without any problems she choose the two best assistants she had and after she had brought her report to Majeski, she informed the other eight that they would soon be transfered to other vessels.
After returning from the last of the eight people, who looked like they were sorry leaving the ship, but soon would get over it, she ran into Alex Dixon, who looked as there was a large raincloud above his head, raining on nobody but him.
"Whats the matter, Lieutenant?" Lise asked politely.
He mumbled something about loss of crew, and continued his walk in a slightly unhappy and bad mood.
Later that day she wondered if she hadn't dealt with all this too easily and coldly. But it still had to be done, and she started to unpack her stuff like so many before her had done.

Weill had heard rumours that there was discontent about the current removal of crew, Weill didnt want his crew upset so he ordered all Heads of Department to go to the Conference room.
He walked in and they were all there, sitting around the slightly rounded table.
He walked to the head of it and sat down, he was cheerful, not in the hapiest of rooms but he started,
Weill: " I have heard that there is discontent about the loss of crew, to some of your departments, i will npt have this, we are moving under orders and there is no point moping about, theses crew will all be going to other starships and one is getting her own command, of a support vessel, so she is in a good modd, many are getting other promotions etc etc, so lets wish them well ok"
Dixon: " Yes sir, sorry sir"
Weill: " Dont be sorry, i can understand, you may be a high flyer but this is still your first assignment and you havnt had to deal with the changing of crew, like the Commander, Doctor and i have"
Dixon: " Yes sir"
Weill: " Now to buisness, we are going on a shakedown cruise, to test the ship, get used to it, and make it ours, so that means setterling organising your departments etc, so lets go and get ready, we will be leaving in 2 hours"
The crew left and Weill felt like he had given them a wigging but than realised they looked slightly more cheerful.

Alex left the conference room with the rest of the Ravens' officers. The meeting hadn't made him feel a whole lot better, but he knew that he would have to deal with the changing of the crew as best he could. He had spent several hours finding each member of the Ravens' old Science staff to tell them that they were being reassigned. The majority of them were quite practical about it, although he could sense that many were disappointed that they hadn't been chosen to stay aboard.
Captain Weill had said that they would be leaving Bellicose in about 2 hours. That wasn't much time to do anything. Alex thought that he would go to his quarters. He hadn't even been there yet, but had had his equipment beamed there several hours ago.
His quarters were on Deck 4. He cautiously stuck his head in the door. There was a stack of bins in the middle of the floor containing his gear. Otherwise, the room had very standard Starfleet decor. Alex stepped all the way in and the door slid shut behind him.
Alex decided to put his stuff away. Unfortunately, that only took about a half hour. He had been living out of boxes for so long that he had learned to pack very light. The only personal items that he had were his medals case and the photo mosaic of his first discovery, Patricia's Planet. Alex carefully hung the mosaic of the tiny planet up on the wall and spent several minutes organizing lights so they would clearly illuminate it.
There was nothing left to do in his quarters, so Alex decided to head down to the mess hall. Maybe something to eat and drink would cheer him up a little.

Isildur had a lack of understanding. He did not understand the discontent with the crew. Moving was a part of a starfleet officer's life. Isildur decided he would start with his counsolling sesions. Several patients were being transfered and were looking for answers. One hour later "I feel unlucky. I do not know why and I am grieved that I have to leave my friends," Ensign Lauzon said in a panicky voice. "Do not look at it as being let go. Think of it as a carrier oppritunity yes you are leaving friends but you are going to a new assignment. That is the life of a Starfleet officer. You need to be ready for change," Isildur said in a calm voice. "Thank you counsellor. You have helped me be happy about the transfer," the young ensign said in a happy voice. "Good luck to you," the counsellor said as the ensign left. Seven in an hour Isildur thought to himself after Ensign Lauzon left. Isildur quickly demorphed into his andalite form and then remorphed. This is tough. Starfleet carreir and morphing schedule of an andalite he thought as he readied himself for the next batch of patients.

Alex stepped into the mess hall. There were about 10 tables capable of seating 4 to 6. Almost half the ships company could be in here simultaneously. There was a series of windows along one wall, showing the interior of Starbase Bellicose, while along the other was a closed in area, like a kitchen or bar.
However, the room was empty right now. Alex stepped over to the replicators on the far wall and ordered coffee and a sandwich, but jumped when a voice behind and to his right said "Can I help you, Commander?"
Alexs' eyes snapped to his right and he nearly spilled his coffee as he turned to see a Bajoran female with long dark hair and a blue outfit start giggling. "Sorry Commander, I didn't mean to startle you. I didn't hear you come in. My name is Berraine. I'm a civilian cook who will be taking care of the mess hall. You are...?"
"Commander Alex Dixon, Chief Science Officer. I just came in for a coffee and a sandwich." he told her.
"No you didn't" she informed him. Alex raised an eyebrow.
"I didn't?" Alex inquired.
"No, you came down here for company. It's as obvious as the nose on your face. Also, I try to discourage people from using those...things." She gestured at the replicators on the far wall with distaste. "Real food is more nutritious. Tastes better too." The Bajoran marched over and grabbed the food from the bemused science officer hands.
"Sit down, please" the woman said as she walked purposefully back to the bar area and unceremoniously dumped his order. After a few minutes of preparation, she walked back out to the table where Alex had sat with up a full bowl and cup. "Here, try this" she ordered, placing the food in front of him.
The bowl was full of a greenish soup, while the cup had an orange liquid in it. "It's Bajoran promis soup and Andorian tea. Make sure that you always have a sip of tea after each mouthful of soup" she said.
"Why's that?" Alex said just before taking his first mouthful of soup. It actually tasted pretty good.
"The tea is the antidote" she explained.
Alex started spluttering as the importance of what she had said got through to him. He grabbed the cup of tea and gulped it down. Berraine started giggling again.
"I'm just joking, Commander. The two of them complement one another, that's all. You don't look very old for a Lt. Commander. How long have you been in Starfleet?" she asked.
Alex and Berraine started chatting, with Berraine doing most of the talking while Alex ate. After a while, Alex started to relax for the first time in a while.
He was just finishing up his soup when the door to the mess hall opened...

The ship was docked, Weill moved onto the bridge, he walkes around and sat in the Captains seat which was next to the First Officers, Majeski looked at him, Weill sat and than looked forward,
Weill: " Commander Majeski please send a message to the station warning them of our departure"
Majeski: " Message sent....................... aknowleged"
Weill: " Release socking clamps, set course out 1/4 impulse"
The ship moved out, she closed on the doors, they opened slowly, the ship moved through the gap, there was very little outside the station,
Weill: " Set course for Starbase Assailiant, Full impulse power and all departments prepare for tests and than we can get going, i would suggest engineering start, test the engines warp and impulse, than move onto science and tactical"
Dixon: " Yes sir, i will get on finding the relevent tests"
Weill: " Commander Majeski, can you find locatios that will be the best areas to test the tactical systems and the scanners and we might be able to help the starfleet database in the process"
Majeski: " Of course sir"
The ship was buzzing again, everything had to be sorted out espcially as the departments were cut down in size, but as Weill had forgot to point out when you have smaller and more effeciant departments it is easier to run them, this was the furture for starship, cmbat ships like the Defiant class that were far more effective fighters when in groups of 3 than having the far more expensive Sovereigns.

Captain Weill was sitting in the command chair watching the station disappear behind them on the viewscreen. Suddenly the view switched and he was looking at the starfield in front of them. This new ship of theirs was about to be put to the test. He hoped that it would live up to his expectations.
"Sir," said the Ops officer from the back of the bridge, "I have an incoming transmission from the USS Black Tulip."
"On screen," the Captain ordered. The image of Admiral Elron appeared, surrounded by the bridge of his Sovereign-class vessel. Gus couldn't decide which bridge design he preferred.
"Captain Weill," said Elron warmly, "I just wanted to wish you luck on your new ship. She's got state-of-the-art technology in her, so be careful. I won't be able to get you a replacement so easily."
Gus smiled. "Thank you Admiral. I intend to look after her, so you don't need to worry."
"Your surplus officers have been transferred to alternative assignments. I've made sure my Personnel Department found them a good home. You'll notice that the Raven-A has been assigned to the First Fleet, meaning I'm no longer your Fleet Commander. Please send all relevent reports to your Squad CO, Commodore T'Mar on the USS Scavenger."
"Aye, sir. Thankyou."
"Enjoy the Intrepid-class. Elron out." With a wink, the admiral disappeared from the view screen, leaving Gus to think about what missions would lie ahead of them...

Weill lent back in the seat, The first fleet he had served in for a long time but the Raven hadnt and he doubted that many of his crew had, but he had heard of his Squad Commander before, she had quite a reputation, but than he knew he was her old First Officer on the Scavenger he wanted to see her in action.
Weill: " Well lets hope out time in the first fleet is as good as my last time there was"
Dixon: " Should be fun"
Weill: " Mr Dixon, you may have less reosucres on this ship but you have your own office"
Dixon: "Yes sir, its nice"
Weill: " settled in yet?"
Dixon: " Not quite sir, but my staff are, they all have very distictive areas to work in"
Weill: " Can you tet your team ready for theses test and intiate them when ready, your in charge of that Lt Commander, Commander Majeski, you have the bridge"
Weill walked into his readyroom, he sat in his chair, he still didnt feel comfotable, it was very big, it was large and very comfotable, he thought it was reverse phycology as his last ship was bigger and he had a smaller room, but there was one alteration from the last refit, that was he had a security room nex door, just incase of takever, that roomw as secure and had security for the whole deck, it made the bridge the most secure place on the ship, it could be a command centre even if the whole ship was taken over.

Word spread as fast as wild fire. That was what Isildur soon found out. Word had spread as quickly as a fire would spread through the woods. The first fleet, that is where the Victory is, Spedmo Isildur thought quickly. Isildur checked his schedule to make sure it was clear. Than he made his way to his quarters deep in thought. Once there he sat at his new computer station and started to send a message. There was a pause before the little screen filled up with the face of the FO of the Victory. "How can I help you ensign?" the Vulcan FO asked. "I wish to speak to your navigator," Isildur replied after a moments thought. The screen went blank for a second than filled up with the face of his android friend. "Isildur this is quite a surprise," the android said in a happy tone. "The Raven has been transfered to the First Fleet. That means we can work together," Isildur said excitedly. Spedmo was taken aback at the news. His pleasure at the news showed. "That is incredible. If I can I will see you when you get to Starbase Assaillant," Spedmo replied as the screen went blank.

Alex watched Captain Weill as he stepped off of the bridge and into his ready room. Alex had to admit the ship was quite nice, even if he didn't have the resources of the old Raven. The Raven-A had some of the most up to date scientific equipment that he had ever seen, including some things he had only heard rumours about at the Academy. It would be a lot of fun to play with them.
However, ships systems had to be tested first. The navigational deflector need to be tested and the calibration checked at impulse and warp speed and they needed a place to do it. Alex accessed the Federation Astronomical Survey and tried to find a place that Starfleet hadn't visited too often. Surprisingly, he found one. Sector 387 had last been visited by a Planetary Exploration probe almost 70 years ago. It found no life, few habitable planets and nothing in the way of useful minerals. It was also a long way off of traditional trade routes, so no other Starfleet ship had visited. It sounded perfect, and it wasn't too far out of the way to Starbase Assailant.
"Commander Majeski, I have a possible destination for our shakedown cruise" Alex reported.
"Onscreen" Majeski ordered. The first officer took a look at the sector on the main screen then examined the readouts on his console. "That looks fine, Mr. Dixon. Helm, set course for Sector 387. Full impulse for the next hour, and run us through the list of pre-programmed evasive manuevers that are in the computer and see how the ship takes it. After that, gradually run the engines up to maximum warp and we'll see what she has" Majeski said with enthusiasm.
"Aye sir" replied the helmsman.
Alex was running a level 2 diagnostic of the primary sensor array when an idea popped into his head. He tapped his comm badge. "Dixon to Lt. Collaan."
"Go ahead" she replied.
"Is that planetary exploration experimental equipment that we were working on aboard the Raven ready to go?" Alex asked.
"Pretty much" the head of Planetary Sciences reported. "All we have left to do is finish the delivery vehicle and it's ready."
"Good. I want that at the top of your priority list. Get Ensign Wolle to give you a hand."
"Yes sir!" Collaan said happily. Alex had thought that would cheer her up a little. Next, Alex contacted his head of Stellar Science, Lt. Quarel.
"Yes, sir?" Quarel answered to the call.
"Quarel, I need you to access the database regarding Sector 387 and find a suitable target for Collaan's planetary exploration experiment" Alex ordered.
"Yes sir. I'll go to Astrometrics right now" he said and closed the connection.
Hopefully, the captain would go for it, Alex thought.

Weill was sitting in his office reviewing the department reports and he was short of some vital officers, so at that time they were big headed by junior staff, which he didnt mind in peace time as it helped them hut in war it could be tricky.
Weill: " Weill to Dixon, have you found soemwhere yet?"
Dixon: " Just reviewing them now"
Weill: " Ok when you have found a destination, tell the Conn to set course"
Dixon: " Yes sir, we will be ready ASAP"
Weill walked onto the bride and the staff were working well, he was pleased as it did sometimes take a while for people to get used to the new vessels
Weill: " Counsellor Isildur can you meet me in the Docotrs Office"
Isildur: " Yes sir"
Weill walked dow and he walked though the offic doors and he saw a Doctor Lise preparing her office, it was nice, seemed to be more private than others, espcially the old Galaxy class
Weill: " Ah Docto, just wanted to see how you and the Counsellor were setterling, i have been concerned with the technical running of the ship i thought you must be checked"
Lise: " Thankyou sir.................. Oh come in Counsellor, the medical department is doing well, we have settled in and the medical centre is quite well equipped, thses new technologies are very well supported"
Weill: " Good good, i hope it serves you and us well, now Counsellor, what about you?"
Isildur: " We are ok, the crew are still unsettled but they will get over it"
Weill: " Ok i want you two to work together closely, this ship is smaller so we all have to support each other and your departments i think will go well and you two also."

Alex walked to the door of the Captain's Ready Room, hit the chime and entered on the Captain's "Come!"
Alex looked around. This was the first time he had entered the new Captain's Ready Room. Very nice and spacious. It was surprising that a ship that was so much smaller than the original Raven could seem to have so much space.
Captain Weill was sitting in his chair, examining a PADD and comparing it to the readout on his desk console as Alex walked forward and stood at attention.
"Yes, Commander?" Weill said as he put aside the PADD.
"Interesting reading sir?" Alex asked, gesturing at the PADD.
"Not really, just readiness reports. Is that what you came to ask me, Mr. Dixon?" Weill asked, smiling slightly.
"No sir" Alex replied hurriedly. "I would like to ask that the Science Department be allowed to run an exploratory mission in the Vorona system."
Captain Weill raised an eyebrow. "The Vorona system? I'm not familiar with it."
"Probably not sir. We're doing our manuevers in Sector 387, which has not been thoroughly explored by the Federation. The Vorona system was examined by a B class planetary probe about 70 years ago. It noted it was a binary star system with a Sol type yellow star and a white dwarf orbiting one another. The probe also noted 5 planets, 2 inner rocky ones and 3 gas giants. The second inner planet, Vorona 2 was defined as Class M, with heavy concentrations of vegetation, but no signs of intelligent life. The probe also noted occasional radiation bursts from the binary stars. Because Vorona was so far away from anticipated trade routes and had no strategic or mineral value, it was never visited again" Alex explained.
"I see. So why should the Science department be so interested in the Vorona system?" the captain asked.
"We aren't sir, except for the fact it will allow us to test some experimental exploratory equipment that we have developed aboard ship" Dixon said.
Aha, Weill thought to himself. At last we get to the point. Weill sat back to conceal his enthusiasm. This was the first time that his Science department had presented him with new research, and he was feeling a little excited, but he kept it out of his voice. "That's interesting, Commander. What kind of exploratory equipment?"
"Actually sir, the Science department has prepared a mission profile and would like to give it to you and Commander Majeski at 1400 hours in the Science conference room, if that's alright" Dixon asked.
"That would be fine. Commander Majeski and I will be there." Even if I have to stun him, Weill thought to himself.
**1445 hours**
Captain Weill was nodding appreciatively. The plan for the exploration of Vorona 2 was very interesting. Essentially, a probe had been stripped of all but the most basic warp drive, navigation instruments, a micro transporter and some storage areas. The real investigators were ten small, mobile planetary landers packed with scientific instrumentation. All the probe did was carry the landers to the planet and transported them to the surface. The landers did all the work, taking atmospheric, soil, water and vegetation samples and could either pilot themselves or under the control of a team on the Raven. Because there were so many of them placed all over, they could give a more comprehensive view of the planet.
The fact that the Raven didn't actually have to go to the system was a nice touch. The probe was launched from the ship, carried the landers to the system, beamed them down and then was able to bring them back to the Raven, which decreased the Ravens' exposure to unexpected risk.
Captain Weill was even more impressed with his Science department and the mission profile. It was well organized and clearly presented by the Science staff. Commander Dixon did not speak once, but Weill watched the Commander out of the corner of his eye and it was clear that Dixon was in charge of the presentation and would nod, frown or smile to keep the presentation organized and moving. It was an excellent performance.
At last, the presentation was done and Commander Dixon stood up. "Well sir, that's the mission profile. Sciences will need the Raven to stay at impulse for about 7 to 12 hours, depending on what we find. May we have your permission to proceed?"
The science staff fell into complete silence as they waited for their captain to make his decision...

Weill was still working and he had the padd from the science department, it was planned, well planned at that and would be good for th ship to do something.
Weill: " Mr Dixon, please proceed"
The young Lt Commander smiled and walked out of the room, there was an air of strength in the ship, the ship had settled down and departments were working together, making the Raven A as good as her predecessor, tyhe science department being the finest example.
Weill walked onto the bridge and he saw Mr Dixon, ordering various things to be done and Commander Majeski was in a seat looking on, Weill went and sat in the COs chair, he leant over to the First Officer.
Weill: " Commander, let him try and have a go at the reins, this could be terrific, studying and helping the ship"

Isildur now had something to do and he got to work. He and Lise had worked together and were starting to be friends. Lise and Isildur started comparing notes on the mental and medical states of the crew. Isildur's thoughts kept returning to his home. He had to admit he was homesick and he vowed he would send a message as soon as possible. His mind returned to the task at hand.

Alex was in an extremely good mood. He had received the official go ahead from the Captain for the remote exploration of Vorona 2 and had been placed in overall command of the mission. Alex knew that it was really just a test run for some experimental equipment and a test of his command abilities, but it wasn't very often that he was going to be able to explore an unknown planet.
However, before he could get to that, there were some things that still needed to be done. He was on his way to Deck 6, where the data from the probes was to be received and analyzed. He had his staff installing new consoles into 2 labs that were adjacent to his office for the mission, and he was sure they could use some help. He had just boarded a turbolift when he heard what he thought was a call from the corridor. "Commander Dixon, hold the door!"
Alex stuck his hand out so the door couldn't close, and Lt. Isildur boarded the turbolift.
This was the first time that Alex had been in close proximity to the Andalite, and he took a moment to examine the 6 foot tall blue being, especially the eye stalks at the top of the head.
The words "Commander Dixon" popped into Alex's head and he was a little startled. He had never encountered the Andalite thoughtspeak before, although he had read about it. It was a very unusual experience.
"Yes?" Alex replied, somewhat cautiously.
"I understand that you have been placed in command of a planetary exploration mission that will be run aboard the Raven." Alex blinked as the sentences formed in his head.
"That's correct" Alex replied aloud. News certainly travelled fast aboard ship...
"It is an unusual setting for planetary exploration. I would appreciate the opportunity to observe how your science staff responds to this form of exploration. Would it be alright if I am present during the exploration process?" the Andalite asked.
Alex reacted with some surprise. Someone conducting research while he was conducting research was an strange proposition. However, he had no problem with it.
"Of course not, Lt. Isildur. However, I'm not sure exactly when the attempt will be made, although it will certainly be in the next day or two. You will be informed as soon as I know when the mission will begin If you need any equipment in the lab, please send me a list and I will have it installed for you" Alex said.
"Thank you, Commander" Isildur said.
The turbolift stopped at Deck Six and Alex stepped off.
"See you later, Isildur" Alex said over his shoulder as he walked to the lab.
"Yes" the lieutenant replied, and the doors closed.

So here was the new ship, it was setterling in and Lt Commander Dixon was working on his mission, it appeared thus far the ship was in a good state, The crew had settled and Weill had orgranised everything as it should be.
Weill: " So Commander, what do you think of your new enviroment?"
Majeski: "Oh it is very nice, nice quarters and a developed office, everything in the right place i think, and you sir?"
Weill: " Oh i am pleased, quarters are a little smaller, but how much space does one need to sleep"
Just as Weill had finished the last word a woman walked in, she was of medium height and very dark hair, she carried the rank of Commander.
Weill: " Commander, may i ask who you are"
Bird: " I am Commander Bird, i just transported from the shuttle that is on your starboard bow, did you transporter officer inform you?"
Weill: " No she didnt, Commander Majeski, can you go and deal with that officer and CONN, OPS? whats wrong why ddint the sensors detect the shuttle"
There were blank faces and umm and ahs and no ideas all coming from the mouths of the junior officers
Weill: " I don't want ums and has i want answers, please deal with it and inform me as soon as possible, jump to it, Commander Bird would you please tell me you your position and reason for visit?"
Bird: " I am the representitive of the Federation in this area"
Weill: " Well there arnt many for you to talk to, surely?"
Bird: " You are right but we are going to colonise the area and i was sent to find out where when and what we should do"
Weill: " So do you want to stay aboard for the duration of our visit?"
Bird: " Yes please sir, and could you transport me back to Starbase Assailant at the end, you are now in the first fleet arnt you?"
Weill: " Yes we are and yes of course, Crewman please escourt the Commander to the guest quarters"
Bird: " Thankyou sir"
The crewman who was the new Captains Yeoman, an officer Weill had never had on his ship but they had been brought in for Captains of explorers, it was one of thoses priviliges Captains sued to have but lost but luckily it had been brought back in, for some, Weill wanted to get to know the crewman as she was new and it was her first assignment.

Majeski was totally confused on why the sensor's didn't pick up the shuttle , growling he whent to the ops station and began doing some scans
Zimsky came up and was practically hollering "WHo shut down the warp core?"
"I did" Majeski said coldly never met Zimsky he eyed the andriod with a fury thats casued some of the bridge crew to back away from the elf.
The adriod stopped they looked at eachother for a minute then Zimsky spoke
"Purpose being ? " Zimsky blinked
"Level one diagnostic" Majeski said
":Level one? but.... " Zimsky started
"Hey i don't want to be on a ship that can't detect a simple shuttle, next thing you know it romulans will be shoving a torpedo up are hairy little hiney's" Majeski started for engineering
Zimsky followed "Umm sir, canb't we just run a level two for now ?"
"No"

Zimsky your up to bat and welcome aboard

The Chief Engineer came aboard, the department was new and he looked cheerful that for his first assignment as CEO he had a brand new starship to mould as he wanted it,a new ship and a routine he could create and maintain, Weill had heard he was aboard and so he walked down to see him, he was standing in front of the warp score, just staring at it, with glittered eyes, sparkling.
Weill: " Welcome aboard, MR Zimsky, good to have you aboard"
Zimsky: " Thankyou sir, i am pleased i have to this ship, she has a good name"
Weill: " Inherited from her predecessor who was sadly decommisioned not long agao, but now we have a nice new ship to mould and you have the chance to mould this engineering department, lease make the changes you feel are necessary"
Zimsky: " Thankyou sir, i hear we have had a slight problem"
Weill: " Yes sensors didnt detect a shuttle right off our starboard bow, could you look into this and make sure we are ready at the end of our shakedown cruise for whatever hits us"
Zimsky: " Yes sir, i will, i assume i will be able to run tests on the warp engines and impulse engines."
Weill: " Of course, co-ordinate with Commander Majeski and find out thwn in the schedule you can"
