While everything was going on around him, Steve was putting the pieces together in his mind. He looked around, noticing that he crew were coping well with having Crystal as FO, and the new crew were also getting on well.
Steve then thought about the Romulans that were hiding out there, somewhere. There was no contact from the team on the planet, and their pod was destroyed. What's to say the Romulans didn't take them prisoner for whatever purpose they may have? He was hoping amongst hope that they were still alive.
An idea was forming in Steve's mind just as Mr Huebner spoke up:
"Commander Rose, The probes are ready and the detection grid is set up. I only await your authorization to begin the sweep with the grid."
Steve turned to face Crystal, who had turned to Steve to give the authorisation.
"Hold off on that for one moment, Lieutenant. We know they are there, we just don't know where. So, lets just see if we can make them show themselves first. David, open hailing frequencies."
"Frequencies open, Captain." David replied.
Steve tugged down on his uniform and took a deep breath.
=/\= Romulan vessel, this is Captain Steven Smith of the Federation Starship Olympia. We know you are cloaked out there, and we also know that you have taken a group of Federation archaeologists hostage. Now, either show yourselves, or we will deem this as a hostile act and take the necessary measures. =/\=
Steve glanced at Crystal and gave a look that said 'It can't hurt'. Only trouble being, they weren't completely sure it was a Romulan vessel that was cloaked, and they also weren't completely sure that the dig team had been taken captive.
'No going back now.' Steve thought, as he awaited a reply...hopeful that he would actually get one.

Aboard the IRW Erkana
Engineer Tirel had made it to the bridge, quite quickly Commander Danath noted. He drew a dagger from his belt, not his honor blade, merely another very sharp weapon. He place the tip of the blade to the engineer's throat. "Would you like to explain why our cloak fluctuated and I wasn't informed."
Tirel swallowed causing a drip of green blood to form at the point of his Commander's blade. "I can offer no excuses, sir" He knew what was going to happen next. He'd seen it happen before. Tirel braced himself for the now inevitable bite of steel into his flesh.
Commander Danath glared at Centurion Tanara, "how do they know we are here?"
Tanara swallowed, "They don't sir. The message went out over all frequencies. They are just trying to get a response." Danath looked for a moment at the engineer and then back at the viewscreen. He lowered his dagger. Tirel didn't wait to be dismissed and headed back to the engine room. He knew the look forming on the Commander's face.
"They want a response do they?" The Commander murmured. Everyone on the bridge had the sense not to reply to that. "Centurion," he said abruptly addressing Tanara "Broadcast on all frequencies but make sure they are not able to get a lock on our location"
"This is Commander Danath of the Imperial Romulan Warship Erkana, I demand that you leave this system now Olympia. I consider finding spies on this world a hostile act against the Romulan Star Empire"
***************************************************
Aboard the USS Olympia
The Captain's announcement went out and was followed by silence. The silence stretched long enough that Crystal was able to believe that if there was a Romulan ship out there (and she sincerely believed that there was) then it seemed they weren't answering.
Suddenly a voice came over the speakers. "This is Commander Danath of the Imperial Romulan Warship Erkana, I demand that you leave this system now Olympia. I consider finding spies on this world a hostile act against the Romulan Star Empire"
Crystal swallowed, if the Romulans had decided that the archeological were spies then they were in trouble. Of course that also left the question of what the Romulans knew or believed was out here that was worth spying on... It was always questions. Being a scientist Crystal liked questions, but she preferred it when she had an idea of how to go about getting the answers to the questions.

[White] [Starbase Conqueror] [/White]
After the sessions in Deck 13, Zhurak was needing to get some rest, and immediately proceeded to his crew quarters for the night. Not long after he would be receiving something special. Waking up after a restful nights sleep he found himself before the Liaison and his covers pulled off to the side.
“Zhurak, here are you orders, make sure you read them carefully, you are to report to your designated vessel as soon as possible. Don’t make your Commanding Officer wait in the process.” the liaison officer proceeded after handing Zhurak his orders, in the andorians crew quarters.
Looking back at the Liaison, Shuarak was completely compliant with the new orders, and began to look around his room for some things to gather. Making his bed, he shuffled through his hair trying to make the necessary adjustments so that he need not look unprofessional, and headed to his washing facilities in his crew quarters.
Cleaning himself off, Zhurak looked at himself for a moment, then began to think about what it would be like to be an officer of Starfleet and how to go about things in his future career. After deliberation, he would clean his teeth and get in his marine green officer outfit, and use his lint remover tool to exercise the caution of removing the lint. The Andorian wanted to make sure he looked grand before an audience as well before a captain of a vessel.
Getting his bag, Zhurak made his way out the room and carefully read the orders. “Marine 1st Lt. Zhurak Shuarak, you are hereby instated aboard the USS Olympia as its SMO. Proceed to the Docking bay, of Starbase conqueror and get on the shuttle traveling to there location. End transmittion. Signed Vice Admiral Drew Academy Dean” Understanding of the material, Zhurak made his way through the starbase, down the turbo lifts and into the docking bay.
Finding himself before one of the shuttles that were bound for the USS Olympia. “1st Lt. Zhurak I take it, you are on the crewlist get aboard, were leaving momentarily, if you would proceed onto the vessel, and give your bags to the bag chief, I will get us moving.” the shuttle captain replied then watched as the andorian nodded and move onto the shuttle with some other individuals some of which were Lt Jake Marcus and Lt Junior Grade Jack Crane.
“Looks like you guys got the same orders I got, congrats, hopefully we will all enjoy our assignment” Zhurak replied.
[yellow]<tag Marcus and Crane>[/yellow]
Seeing them, Zhurak was most pleased to have other members like him coming aboard the Olympia and watched out the viewing window as the ship made its preparations for lift off. After continuous checks, the ship was now in space, and had engaged hyper.
[white] [USS Olympia] [/white]
“Permission to dock with the USS Olympia, we have crew waiting to board, as this is Starfleet jurisdiction, do I have your approval” the shuttle Captain replied.
[yellow]<tag smith>[/yellow]
“Understood, sir, we are making docking sequences now, proceeding to docking bay 1.” The shuttle captain replied and closed the communications. Looking out the window, Zhurak awoke to find himself on the USS Olympia with the shuttle safely docked aboard. Waking himself up, he got out of his seat and got the bags from the bag chief.
“Looks like we arrived guys, better get a move on.” the andorian marine noted as he seen the officers awake from there slumber.
[yellow]<tag Marcus and Crane[/yellow]
Making his way off the shuttle Zhurak went down the shuttle ramp and was now in the docking bay of the USS Olympia, he looked around, finding himself surprised at how big it was and how nice of a ship he was assigned to. Walking through the door out of the docking bay, he proceeded to his crew quarters, then dropped his bags off, and then made his way to the Bridge.
Arriving, he found the command staff all in familiar places. He walked in and found the one in charge. “Marine 1st Lt. Zhurak Shuarak reporting for duty.”

Aboard the USS Olympia
After the Captain's 'chat' with the Romulans that didn't reveal a great deal further, a data stream arrived from starfleet indicating that some new senior crew members had been assigned and were on their way. Crystal was relieved, the Olympia had been understaffed for too long. She could tell by the look on the Captain's face that he agreed with her.
=/\=Permission to dock with the USS Olympia, we have crew waiting to board, as this is Starfleet jurisdiction, do I have your approval=/\=
Crystal could help but break into a smile as the Captain gave his authorisation for the shuttle to dock. She was relieved that the Romulans had stayed quiet but then beyond a lot of posturing they hadn't seemed to want a fight. Not to mention that the Olympia could defend herself.
A short time after the shuttle docked. The new crew members arrived on the bridge: an Andorian marine 1st Lieutenant, and two tall humans, one in blue and one in gold. Crystal had made an effort to commit their names to memory although it wasn't her forte. She was looking forward to getting to know the new arrivals

"This is Commander Danath of the Imperial Romulan Warship Erkana .. I demand that you leave this system now Olympia .. I consider finding spies on this world a hostile act against the Romulan Star Empire."
David divided his attention between his panel, the view-screen, and the Captain ..
Steven didn't seem over-worried at Denath's obvious posturing, and glancing at Crystal, she too didn't look overly concerned. But everyone knew that the Romulan's could convert posturing, to actual force in seconds, and no-one wanted that .. But the fact that these Romulan's could have taken, or indeed murdered the Archaeological team, meant there may well be something in this sector that they wanted to remain undiscovered ..
'That wasn't going to happen' Tan though to himself .. As he awaited the next orders, the turbo-lift doors opened and three Officers entered the Bridge .. David knew, from the crew allocation bulletin, that they were the replacements the Olympia had been waiting for .. Though it was unusual, to say the least, to shuttle people into a conflict area, it wasn't unknown ..
The Andorian stepped in front of Smith ..
"Marine First Lieutenant Zhurak Shuarak .. Reporting for duty Sir .. This is Lieutenant Jack Crane and Lieutenant Jake Marcus .. Also reporting." ...
David, as Second Officer, concentrated on the panel in front of him, ensuring the First Officer and Captain could have a brief word with the new-comers in relative safety ..........

(Starbase Conqueror] As Jack boarded the shuttle for his first assignment he saw Lieutenant Jake Marcus and Marine first Lieutenant Zhurak Shuarak. As they stepped onto the shuttle craft lieutenant Shuarak said.
“Looks like you guys got the same orders I got, congrats, hopefully we will all enjoy our assignment”
Jack smiled as he lifted his bag and said.
“I am sure we will glad to have you two aboard”
(USS Olympia) As the shuttle craft landed it shuddered waking Jack from his sleep he looked up at lietenant Shurak who was already standing with bag in arms as he looked at Jack and Marcus and said.
“Looks like we arrived guys, better get a move on.”
Jack stood up from the chair and picked up his bag as he said to the shuttle pilot.
“Would it have killed you to take an hour longer to get here that was the best sleep i have had in days”
Jack walked of the shuttle bay ramp and looked around for a moment before making his way to his quarters to drop of his bags. After he left his quarters he made his way to the turbolift with Jake and Zhurak as they stepped on and made their way to the bridge Jack couldn’t help but get nervous everyone he had seen in the halls even the two in the turbolift with him their health was his responsibility he was Chief medical officer he couldn’t help but think maybe he wasn’t ready for this his thought was interrupted when the turbolift stopped and opened up to the bridge he followed Zhurak out and made his way to the captains chair.
"Marine First Lieutenant Zhurak Shuarak .. Reporting for duty Sir .. This is Lieutenant Jack Crane and Lieutenant Jake Marcus .. Also reporting."
<Tag Captain Smith>
Jack moved out from behind Zhurak and asked the captain.
“Captain I read the mission report the missing archeologists do you suspect a medical reason or foul play”
<Tag Captain Smith>
“I see in that case I will ready sickbay in the case of a fire fight sir”
Jack left the bridge and stepped onto the turbolift he had only been here for two minutes and already he had to take over sickbay and get it ready for casualties in case the Romulans decided to attack. As jacks turbolift stopped he used his PADD with a deck plan to guide him to sickbay as he entered three nurses preparing sickbay Jack smiled as he counted himself lucky they seemed to be well trained.

Marcus was sitting in the starquake lounge when his combadge went off in the triple tone he had programed to let him know his orders were in as his friends got there com calls they all headed to computer terminals to find out where they were going to be assigned. Marcus headed to his quarters where his bags were packed already walking in he said "Computer display orders." It read
To lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus:
You are requested and required to report to the USS Olympia as Chief Navigations Office with the rank of Full lieutenant at the end of this communique is the codes for your rank pips and new uniform color Good Luck
StarFleet Command
Marcus saw that a Shuttle that was going to take him to the Olympia And he headed there. Marcus was just entering the Shuttle and saw Jack Crane and the Marine first Lieutenant Shuarak. "Hello Gentleman i see we are all going to be on the same ship." Marcus smiled he was glad hi was going to be with at least one of his academy classmates.
(USS Olympia)
As the shuttle was dropping out of warp Marcus tugged the neck of his uniform his Red uniform. Not sure why he was given helm duty on this ship and not on the Scavager where they needed a Ops Officer was strange however Starfleet knew what it was doing. Stepping off the shuttle with his other two companions they all headed to the Bridge. Jake introduced them to the Captain and then headed to sickbay to get it ready for Battle in case of wounded. Marcus took a step forward.
"Excuse me Sir, But may i ask you something that has been bothering me since i left Starbase." Marcus knew this would not be the best thing to do on board a new ship but he needed to know.
<Tag Smith>
As Captain Smith told him why he was assigned to this ship Marcus was feeling better and said "I was just wondering ,sir. I will take my Post." With that he step down to the helm and started making the board more conferable to him and save the settings.

Steve didn't manage to get any kind of information out of the Romulans, and neither were they any closer to finding out where they were. At least for now the Romulans weren't attacking, and they seemed to accept that the Olympia wasn't hostile...again, for now.
Not long after the conversation had ended, the Bridge turbolift doors opened, and three officers who Steve didn't recognise stepped out. An Andorian and two humans. The Andorian seemed to lead the other two towards Steve.
"Marine First Lieutenant Zhurak Shuarak .. Reporting for duty Sir .. This is Lieutenant Jack Crane and Lieutenant Jake Marcus .. Also reporting."
Steve just looked at all three for a few moments, and nodded. "Welcome aboard the Olympia, gentlemen. I hope you had a pleasant journey. I would advise all three of you to get checked over in Sickbay, and then report for duty as soon as that is done." Steve replied.
The one introduced as Lieutenant Jack Crane stepped forward.
“Captain I read the mission report the missing archeologists do you suspect a medical reason or foul play”
"As yet, we haven't been able to contact any of the team on the planet, but we do know that the Romulans have captured some of them. So at the moment it is too early to say either way."
“I see in that case I will ready sickbay in the case of a fire fight sir”
With that, the Lieutenant left the bridge. Finally, the last of the new officers, Lieutenant Marcus stepped forward.
"Excuse me Sir, But may i ask you something that has been bothering me since i left Starbase."
The Lieutenant proceeded to ask Steve why he had been assigned aboard the Olympia. Steve was surprised to say the least. Twice in as many days he was being question by junior officers about things that did not need to be asked.
"Well, Lieutenant..." Steve started, heavily emphasising the rank. "...the Olympia was in need of crew, you had just graduated from the Academy and was recommended, so I requested you come here." Steve just had a look on his face that screamed 'Anything else?'
"I was just wondering ,sir. I will take my Post."
As the Lieutenant sat down, Steve turned to take his seat and leaned over to Crystal. "Get that probe ready and launched. We need to find out where those Romulans are so we can get the hostages back."

“Understood, sir, I will make my way to sickbay immediately” Zhurak replied, then left the bridge, heading to the turbo lift.
On the turbo lift, he saw a panel, with many buttons on it, with the decks and areas, designated, triggering, he pushed the medical area, which flashed with a yellow light, upon receipt of the press. The turbo lift effectively shot off, to medical bay, then arrived, on medical deck.
Walking through, Zhurak found many personnel making there preparations and steady movements along the ship as he was making his way to sickbay, it was rather busy this time, but he was about to find out how busy his job was about to become. Arriving at the sickbay doors, he pressed the panel, opening the door, walking through he saw, medical staff doing duties from handling patients to treating amputations.
[white] [Sickbay] [/white]
Steadily making his way to one of the medical officers, he began “Marine 1st Lt Zhurak Shuarak, im under orders by the captain of the ship to begin a medical examination before reporting for my duty.”
Ensign Willis looked at the andorian then noted his marine complexion and replied. “Can I request to have your PaDD please. Then I can begin the medical screening.” looking over the PaDD, he found the marines academy information intriguing then sat down at his desk, and waved the andorian over. “So you have some tactical and military battle experience, Ill have to do some in depth test’s on you, but other than that, your record looks fine. Please make your way to the medical bed, so one of our staff can assist you. I will be with you shortly.”
Walking to the bed, he saw a Lt looking at him, then spoke “Zhurak, please have a seat here, and wait, for Ensign Willis to assist you.” Nodding, Zhurak sat then waited for the commander.
Arriving, Ensign Willis put the scanner, over his Zhurak’s body, and started with preliminary medical screening, then with a in depth body spectral scan. After a couple hours, the data was complete. “Zhurak you in complete shape, thank you for coming here to do this with me, I will put this information in the PaDD you just gave me, and you can give it to the captain.” Willis replied.
“Thank you sir, I will head to the captain immediately.” Zhurak replied.
[white] [USS Olympia - Bridge] [/white]
Making his way back, Zhurak was anxious and willing to turn the needed medical information to the captain.
“Here is the information you requested from the medical officer.” Handing the captain Zhurak’s PaDD, Shuarak waited.

Huebner tried to stay focused on his work at Tactical as the new Officers arrived, though he winced visible as Lt Marcus started asking the Captain a question.
"I can see where this is going right now...just close your mouth Lt and get on with life", Huebner thought.
Huebner was still waiting for the order to commence the tachyon detection grid to locate the Romulan ship when he had another inspired thought, though this was one that could only be used once more information about the situation had been uncovered.
"Captain, I had another idea in regards to our current situation, it will take some time to prepare, and will only be viable if hostilities commence. I could re-program the sensors on the Quantum Torpedoes to detect infrared sources of energy, in effect it would become the equivalent of an old Earth Heat-seeking missile. In effect we would not need to know where the Romulans are to shoot, as their ship must have some way to shed the heat created by their engines. I understand that in our current situation this in not a good option as we really don't know where the scientists are at this point, I just figured that if it came down to a shooting match we would be best served by negating one of the Romulan's greatest advantages."
<Tag Smith>
Turning to Commander Tan Huebner whispered, "We have got to come up with some way of learning where those scientists are, do you have any ideas? Sensors are not really my gig.
<Tag Tan>
Finally looking over his other shoulder Huebner spoke to Lt Shuarak, "Welcome aboard, as the senior Marine Officer aboard we will be working a lot together. Let me fill you in on what has happened since we left Starbase." Huebner filled Shuarak in on the details and of his tactical planning. "You and I will at some point probably participate in an away team down to the surface to see what we can discover there. It really all hinges on locating the scientists right now, though I'd sure like to know exactly where the Romulans are, just in case... If you have any other suggestions I would certainly welcome them."

The new crew members had sorted themselves and were now at their duty posts. The new CNO had seemed a little puzzled by his assignment but was now seated at conn. Crystal had had to pry her hand off the arms of her chair on one more occasion.
The Captain settled back in his seat. Crystal was grateful that he was actually doing something did would stop him dwelling on things. He turned to her. "Get that probe ready and launched. We need to find out where those Romulans are so we can get the hostages back."
"Aye, sir" Crystal replied. She was still erring on the side of formality as she still felt uncomfortable in her new position. She left her seat and walk round to stand next to Lt Huebner. He had been addressing a question to the Captain and apparently hadn't noticed her approach. She paused.
Crystal smiled and spoke. The CTSO turned abruptly but without surprise, maybe he had been aware of her presence after all... "Please launch the tachyon net, Lieutenant. And start work on the sensor programme for the quantum torpedoes. I can give you a hand with that if you want..." Crystal hoped her voice needed betray her want to do something.
******************************************************
Lieutenant Commander V'Sel, the Vulcan aCScO was quietly working the science station. She was concerned by the disappearance of the scientists but was certain that there was a rational explanation for all this. She was also concerned about Crystal, who had been continually displaying signs of nervous behaviour for the last four hours and 18 minutes.
She checked over the latest set of sensor data, she couldn't help hearing the whispered conversation being carried out behind her. "We have got to come up with some way of learning where those scientists are, do you have any ideas? Sensors are not really my gig.
V'Sel listened to the response and carefully went through the necessary calculations.
"There are some large mineral deposits within 100 kilometers of the archaeologists's campsite that are impeding our sensor sweeps. There seem to be some voids in the formation." Having imparted her information V'Sel fell silent, continuing to analyse data and waiting to see what would be required of her next.

Jack took a few moments to glance around the sickbay it was about the same size as an intrepid class starships sickbay but as always Jack found something he didn’t like about it, it was an awful cream colour nothing else only the panels and consoles gave any colour to the room. Jack noticed a blank wall next to a door on the left wall it was blank next time they were in starbase he was going to have fluorescent blue lights installed. Jack shook his head as he tried to collect his thoughts.
“Hello people can I have your attention as you may or may not know I am Dr. Jack Crane and I have been assigned as your new Chief Medical Officer I look forward to working with you all and getting to know you but at the moment we need to prepare sickbay for casualties, I also need the medical records of the missing archeological team who knows what condition they will be in lets get to work”
As the medical staff began preparing sickbay for any eventuality Jack approached his new assistant doctor and offered his hand as he said.
“Dr. Hall nice to meet you the captain has ordered I undergo a physical as soon as possible would you mind?"
Dr. Mike Hall a twenty two year old human who was five foot two and had dark brown hair looked at Jack as he smiled and said.
"I would be glad to Dr."
Jack returned his smile and motioned for Dr. Hall to step into his office as he walked through the door that had CMO office written on it he first noticed the lack of windows Jack didn’t like the idea of not being able to see the sickbay while in his office, The office was not decorated only a desk a comfortable looking chair behind the desk and two less comfortable chairs facing the desk. The desk was facing the door and Jack noticed only a computer terminal on the desk. As Jack stood still while he was being scanned ideas for making the office more his own ran though his mind maybe some pictures on the wall would do the trick. After Dr. Hall was finished he told Jack he was in good health and left as Jack sat behind his desk he began to read the medical history of the missing archeologists nothing seemed out of the ordinary except that the Bajoran Danar Sala had gone a little to long without a check up thinking about that Jack noticed only he and Zhurak had had theirs he tapped his Comm. badge and said.
=^= “ Crane to Lieutenant Marcus can you come to sickbay when time permits for your medical screening the sooner the better as we have a bit of free time at the moment it will only take five minutes Crane out” =^=
<Tag Marcus>
As Dr. Crane sat in his office waiting for an update on the status of the preparations and for Jake Marcus to arrive Jack continued to read the medical histories

Marcus was just finishing getting familiar with the helm station and his combadge chirped and he heard Crane say =^= “ Crane to Lieutenant Marcus can you come to sickbay when time permits for your medical screening the sooner the better as we have a bit of free time at the moment it will only take five minutes Crane out” =^= Marcus tapped his combadge in kind and replied =/\= On my way Doctor."=/\= Marcus headed for the turbolift and said "Sickbay."
Deck 7 Sickbay
Marcus stepped on to deck 7 and headed to sickbay entering the doors he saw Jack ordering a few officers to move the bio-bed into the surgical theater "Well doctor do you want to complete the exam or should i have the EMH do it?" Marcus joked
<Tag Crane>
Marcus went and sat on Bio-Bed 3 and layed down for the exam. Marcus always hated hospitals and sickbays avoiding them when he could because of that he received a degree in basic medical assistance
Marcus waited for Jack to finish the Exam and he sat up again and said." So give it to me straight Doc . How long do i have?" Marcus knew he was fine. His family Doctor and the Doctors on the Dallas always made sure he was in top heath.
<Tag Crane>
Marcus heard he was fine and told Jack "I need to return to the bridge. Later Doctor."

Understanding well in circumstance of the Lieutenants response, zhurak was eager to reply back “Well, keep me informed of the situation in advance, and if we are to take into consideration of being in a away team, I will do my best to work at one hundred percent capacity, and thank you for the welcome, im sure the rest of the crew are glad to have me here as well.” Zhurak mentioned.
“Who are these scientists exactly can you explain more about what is happening down on the ground, as I just got on the bridge, you seem to know a lot more about these things than I do right now and about the current situation that prevails.” Zhurak replied and had a keen interest in the mission and how it was going to be panning out.

“Ah interesting, so these scientists are captured by romulans, and its our job to rescue them.” Zhurak noted.
“Well if I can do anything to help matters I will try to help the best I can by going with you on a away team or doing whatever the captain has requested us to do to speed up recovery of the scientists.” The andorian nodded.

Having moved from the Con, Tan moved closer to the Tactical station. He wanted to get a look at Heubners' reading's first hand ..
Turning to Commander Tan, Huebner whispered ..
"We have got to come up with some way of learning where those scientists are .. Do you have any ideas .. Sensors are not really my gig."
David leaned close to the man, so as not to be over-heard, then spoke quietly ..
"While the Senior Staff are less stringent on the Bridge .. We 'DO' expect to be addressed by rank when junior Officers are present .. Lieutenant." David said, his eyes never leaving the young mans before him, "Also .. I nor the First Officer or Captain would expect to be informed that 'sensors are not your GIG' .. Unless i'm sadly mistaken we are currently in the twenty fourth century and not nineteen sixties Earth .. Do I make myself clear ?"
Heubner was struck dumb for several seconds .. Seconds in which Tan continued to hold his gaze.
"I .. I apologize Commander .. No offense intended." Heubner replied.
"Right .." Tan said, "Then re-check your readings and see what we can do to make pursuing the Romulan vessel easier."
~~~~
Unfortunately, the conversation had not gone un-noticed by Crystal, who got up as Tan returned to his station. She smiled at David and approached Tactical, a calm expression on her face ..
"Mr Heubner .. Please launch the Tachyon net .. Then start work on the sensor program for the quantum torpedoes .. I can give you a hand with that if you want ..."
"Thank you Commander." Joel replied, with a slight nod to Tan, affirming that their conversation had been understood ..
David noticed Lieutenant Shuarak, he was watching the view-screen intently .. As Operations Manager, he needed to know the status of all departments. So he took the opportunity to inquire about the Marines ..
"Lieutenant Shuarak .. I need an update on your Marine contingent .. We may need cover if we have to go planet-side."
Zhurak snapped to attention as Tan began to speak, but David waved him to ease, himself feeling a little uncomfortable at the Marines' rigid stance ..
"My people are ready to go Commander .. I 'would' have liked a little time to run one or two scenario's .. But that can wait." Shuarak said, a determined look on his face.
"Take whoever you are assigning to the Away-team .. Use the holo-deck to get some drills run .. Your teams are not needed right now so it will give you time to run through a few possible outcomes."
"Thank you Sir ..." the Marine said, managing to stop himself from snapping out a 'whip-fast' salute. choosing to nod curtly, then head for the turbo-lift ..
David moved back to Opps to monitor the Tachyon net's deployment ..........
At the Turbo-Lift Zhurak was interested in getting in his marine battle gear and testing out his simulations in the holodeck. Seeing the opportunity, the andorian, pressed the panel then the turbo lift shot off then arrived near at his deck. Walking out of the door, he found some of the crew quarters next to him. Walking to his, he tapped the terminal, and walked inside and jumped on the bed to relax his eyes with his marine uniform on.
“Man it sure has been a tiring day, and I havent begun training yet, I shouldn’t show signs or symptoms of my tiredness so id best be heading into my washing facilities and getting myself a clean cold shower. I like it cold.” Zhurak replied then taking off his uniform and walking into his showering facility.
Relaxing under the cold water that was shooting straight into his eyes and hair, he grabbed one of the bars of soap that was carefully laid on the pedestal. Cleaning himself while washing, he enjoyed the cool water and smooth breeze. It was ten minutes later that he stepped out and took a towel to dry himself off and get his military gear on.
Walking around his quarters grabbed his uniform then hung it up in his closet. Then mentioning something to himself he began to say “Really my military training has got me down to cleaning my room up and making it look fashionable. In a matter of minutes to, really paid off.” Zhurak replied.
Then walking sitting on his bed, and getting on his boots, he tied them up, and walked out of his crew quarters to head to the nearest holodeck. Heading to the turbo lift he looked around and watched other personnel do there daily routine. Entering he pressed the holodeck and arrived on the holodeck deck area.
Stepping out, Zhurak’s tendrills focused on his objective of training and were pointed straight forward, he was thrilled about starting. Running, he walked into the Holodeck and began to speak “Holodeck simulate romulan captors on a romulan ship, begin simulation.”
As the Simulation began to fade on, the lights brightened and illuminated the enemy presence….
As Jack waited for Marcus he started to reposition the biobeds in sickbay so he could get a fourth one in that would make a total of five one main bio-bed and four auxiliary Biobeds. Just as the orderlies were moving the main biobed into the surgical area Lieutenant Marcus arrived.
"Well doctor do you want to complete the exam or should i have the EMH do it?" Marcus said to Jack jokingly. Jack tuned around and smiled as he said.
“I think I can handle this myself Jake please take a seat here” Jack pointed to biobed three and Jake Marcus made his way over and hoped onto the bed.
Jack scanned Jake with his tricorder and made notifications in the ships medical logs as Jack was finishing up his scans Jake asked.
." So give it to me straight Doc . How long do i have?"
Jack smiled as he said. “your fine but a healthier diet wouldn’t go amiss you can go now thankyou”
Jake told Jack he needed to get back to the bridge Dr. Crane nodded and Lieutenant Marcus left sickbay headed for the bridge.
Jack Crane finished up getting sickbay ready and headed out towards the turbolift as he entered he nodded at a crewman he was getting out and ordered the turbolift to the bridge as he exited he saw most of the bridge crew looking intently at their consoles feverishly pushing buttons and taking scans.
Jack spoke up to no one in particular and said.
“Sickbay reports ready”
<Tag anyone>
Jack stood at the back of the bridge and watched the proceedings knowing it wasn’t unusual to see a CMO on the bridge he just watched as he wondered how this situation was going to play out.
Marcus left sickbay after Doctor Crane told him a healthier diet would do him good. What kinda diet would help that Marcus wondered as the bridge doors opened he headed to the helm and relived the officer there and sat down. Scanning the board he tried to get caught up on the mission so far.
As he reads the mission logs up to now he was shocked that there was not a note about the last Helmsman of the Olympia. After he while he was just sitting there not doing anything he saw a note about sensor issues and figured he could help. "Excuse me commander, I couldn't help noticing that the sensors are a little fuzzy. I am able to assist in repairs. With your permission of course." Hoping to get more involved in the mission since he was just waiting for them to tell him where to fly them.
Aboard the USS Olympia
The tachyon net was launched and operational, the marines were putting the themselves through their paces on the holodeck (she hoped none of the injured themselves) and Crystal was back in her chair on the bridge.
V'Sel's earlier words rang in her head. "There are some large mineral deposits within 100 kilometers of the archaeologists's campsite that are impeding our sensor sweeps. There seem to be some voids in the formation." It did not seem that they were getting any further information here, at least until a Romulan ship wandered into their tachyon net. Maybe there was more they could find out down on the surface.
She turned to Captain Smith "Captain," He turned to face her. "I think we should send an away team down to check out the campsite and to go through the cave system that our sensors are having trouble with." Crystal kept her voice down know that the rest of the bridge vrew would get interested at the opportunity of an away mission.
Aboard the IRW Erkana
Peace had descended on the bridge once more. Commander Danath had cut the comm link after the human captain had replied and had then stalked round the bridge for a while making everyone even more edgy. Tanara had remained silent through this until the federation ship had launched a load of probes. Her first thought was that they were continuing their apparent search of the planet. Then her scans showed that the probes were emitting tachyon beams...
She immediatly spoke up, knowing that such a device might be able to detect the Erkana even if she remained cloaked. Commander Danath raged for a moment or two but then ordered that they head away from the plant and stay out of range of the sensor net (at least for a while). He had then stalked off the bridge. Tanara hoped that one of the prisoners told him something useful so he would calm down.
Huebner looked over at Commander Rose and gratefully thanked her for her assistance. He knew that since the tachyon grid was operational and coincidentally mobile that it was only a matter of time before they were able to detect the Romulan ship. He set the probes up for a complete sweep of the system with the computer to alert him of any possible detections generated. He quickly set to work on reprogramming the torpedoes to "seek" infrared sources of energy. That done he appraised Commander Rose of the situation, "Commander the grid is operational and is now performing a sweep of the entire system, which will take a while. I have also completed the torpedo modifications, so if we need to shoot we can, even though we don't have a position for the Romulan Vessel."
Knowing that the Marines were preparing for an away mission he contacted Lt. Shuarak to ask if he needed any assistance. =/\= Huebner to Shuarak, I understand that you are running scenarios in the Holodeck and was wondering if I could provide you with any assistance from the Bridge?=/\=
=/\=If you wouldn’t mind, sending some actual people down here to train with instead of the computer simulating my enemy, that way I can talk and interact that would be nice.=/\=
Back in the simulation, Zhurak was watching as the romulan bridge had illuminated before him, and he was now inside a war bird. Walking around he found himself in one of there crew compartments. Looking around he saw a disruptor laying on the desk, grabbing it, he attached it to his belt loop, and looked for other equipment he could use if any, luckily he was able to find a romulan blade. Grabbing that as well, he was readily equipped and walked around the room seeing if there had been anyone around.
In his attempt, there seemed to be nothing but he wanted to make absolutely sure, taking out his disruptor, he walked into one of the washing facilities and aimed his disruptor inside. To his amazement nothing reacted to his approach and he was stealthy.
Closing the door, he walked to the crew compartment door then made his way out, looking around, there just happened to be two romulan crewman standing by. Peeking around, he whispered waiting for one to react, and silenting stood inside the room. While the first crewman approached he took out the blade and sliced his neck, killing him instantly.
“That’s one down, one more to go” Turning to the corner, the other romulan crewman looked in horror, then drew out his disruptor but was frightened, Zhurak quickly grabbed his and rolled off to the side and shot the crewman straight in the forehead.
“These romulans aint half bad, I wonder what the captain will be like” Walking out, Shuarak made his steady approach to the ships turbo lift, but security was tight.
Three more guards were standing nearby…
Steve turned away from Crystal and looked out the viewscreen. The dig team members may still be down on the planet somewhere, hiding. He had read Captain Picard's report of the Ba'ku planet from 2375 when he and the rest of the planet's population headed into the hills and caves to get away from the sensors and transporters as they had high amounts of Kelbonite in them, so it prevented locking on to them.
'Perhaps the same sort of thing is happening here?' He thought to himself.
The only thing about sending an away team down was that the Romulans may perceive that as a threat and could get violent. They would then reveal where they are and open fire, or the tachyon grid would find them....either way, sooner or later, their ship would get found.
He turned back to Crystal again. "Agreed. They could be hiding anywhere down there, and we need to get them before the Romulans get their hands on them. I want you to lead a team to the planet...it makes sense, as you came from a Science background. I would suggest you take our new SMO...you never know what could happen down there! Take whoever else you need, and don't worry about us up here, we will still be in once piece when you get back...or perhaps three" Steve smiled and winked at the last sentence.
Tan watched his read-outs, monitoring the tachyon net that Commander Rose had deployed ...
"Excuse me Commander .. I couldn't help noticing that the sensors are a little fuzzy .. I am able to assist in repairs .. With your permission of course."
David looked up. Lieutenant Marcus was standing close-by, an expectant look on his face ..
"Fuzzy ... Gigs ... What is it with you newbies that terminology is so 'alien' to you ?" Tan said, a wry grin on his face, "OK .. Well you should be manning the Helm .. But as were staying put." Tan said, using some of the younger mans' terminology, "See if you can do something .. Use the Science station you'll have more luck from there .. But I want you back in that seat the instant the Captain or Exec' need to move us ..."
"Yes Sir !" Marcus said, a broad grin forming on his face as he almost bolted to the Science console ..
David watched his screen once again, the planet lazily rotating below them. Tan wondered if they were going to be too late to save Garrett and his team ..........
The CTSO reported on the status of the tachyon grid. Crystal was grateful as when things were too quiet she got nervous. "Commander the grid is operational and is now performing a sweep of the entire system, which will take a while. I have also completed the torpedo modifications, so if we need to shoot we can, even though we don't have a position for the Romulan Vessel." Crystal smiled, "That's good news Lieutenant, but I'm hoping it won't come to that. Let me know if anything shows up." He nodded and Crystal returned to her seat. She wondered idly if she had all ready developed a reputation for pacing on the bridge.
She proposed the idea of an away mission to the Captain, he fell silent for a while and stared at the viewscreen, before turning back towards her and replying. "Agreed. They could be hiding anywhere down there, and we need to get them before the Romulans get their hands on them. I want you to lead a team to the planet...it makes sense, as you came from a Science background. I would suggest you take our new SMO...you never know what could happen down there! Take whoever else you need, and don't worry about us up here, we will still be in once piece when you get back...or perhaps three" Crystal smiled, she had spent some time reading up on MVAM and it wasn't a feature of the Olympia she was ever likely to forget again.
Crystal tapped her comm badge. =/\=Commander Rose to Lieutenant Shuarak. Report to Transporter Room 1 in 10 minutes for an away team. Bring as many of your squad as you feel necessary. Any questions?=/\=
Tag: Lt Shuarak
Crystal finished that discussion and went on to the next.
=/\=Commander Rose to Doctor Crane. An away team is going down to search for the archaeologists, I want some medical support; especially barring in mind that communication. Who would you recommend?=/\=
Tag: Dr Crane
=/\=Very well then, transporter room 1 in ten minutes.=/\=
Crystal walked round the bridge to speak to Commander V'Sel,
"I need someone from science for the away team. It's your decision." V'Sel raised one eyebrow, she had of course, heard the conversations that had been occurring so far.
"Take Lt Erikson, I'll have her meet you in the transporter room in eight minutes." Crystal nodded and headed for the turbolift. As she passed Lieutenant Huebner, she paused. "Much as I would like to have you on my away team as well, but by setting up the detection grid and the torpedo modifications you've made yourself too useful here." She smiled
Tag: Lt Huebner
Crystal made it to the turbolift and headed down to the transporter room. She was not going to be late. She kitted herself out with a phaser and a tricorder and made it to the transporter room a couple of minutes before her self imposed deadline.
Watching the guards move around and talk with each other zhurak was interested in finding out what they had indented on doing, focusing his eyesight on them, he veered around the corner and began to listen as they spoke
“So what do you think the klingons are gonna be doing on the war front, we sure havent experienced much of them lately” the romulan crewman noted.
“I sure would like to know the response to that, but it would seem they like doing cloak and dagger as much as we do with them” the romulan sub lt added.
“Seems likely if they were to provoke anything we could just use all the war birds we have and surprise them. That would be a likely option.” the romulan crewman replied.
“Don’t over think your enemy, those romulans are not as dumn as you think” the sub lt noted.
Looking at the troop Zhurak heart began to pump aggressively and he was feeling like taking them all out, but only one man against three people, its just not physically possible. He had to think of another way. Looking up at the light fixture the andorian focused his attention on taking it out with the disruptor, in his attempt the romulans were blinded.
Running towards them he grabbed out his knife and began slashing from side to side in the hope his melee attack would work, the three guards were impaled by his brutal act. They began to yell, but only bled and two of them died in seconds.
[limegreen]=/\=Commander Rose to Lieutenant Shuarak. Report to Transporter Room 1 in 10 minutes for an away team. Bring as many of your squad as you feel necessary. Any questions?=/\=[/limegreen]
=/\=Understood, I’ll close the program immediately, and head to the transporter room=/\=
Walking up the panel, zhurak looked at the terminal that was flashing in the ship and he replied “Computer freeze program for future use” the simulation froze and the lights returned to normal with the romulan bridge fading away. He was now back in an empty holodeck.
Making his way out, Zhurak touched his communicator =/\=All marine teams, this is Marine 1st Lt Zhurak Shuarak, priority one to transporter room 1, make it there on the double.=/\=
After he closed the communique the andorian ran as fast as his feet could take him out the holodeck and to the transporter room, through the turbo lift and on the deck where all the personnel resided.
[white] [Transporter Room 1] [/white]
As the all personnel gather Zhurak watched as his marine crew were ready to start for the away mission and seen Commander Rose, and Dr Crane.
“Commander Rose, Away team present and accounted for Ma’m ready for your call.” The andorian stood by while waiting for further orders.
