Sitting in his office, Ji'Zhan was waiting for a report. The Debrune Comm device was activated and a deep voice was heard.
"Elder, Silasi Team leader, the job is done. The captives are safe however, events in the cave just prior to our arrival suggest that we may not have the correct Mr. X. However, our voice analysis does show, now, that our first voice match in the caves was not genetic but produced by a device. However, the actions taken were still needed for the safety of the captives." the report came back.
"What about the event prior?" Ji'Zhan questioned.
The operative replied back, "A Star Fleet beam out took place seconds before we arrived however we couldn't get a lock on the destination."
Ji'Zhan thought for a moment, "Then we indeed didn't get Mr. X. However this result will give the Captain his acquit. Very well, return and write up a full report to file. I will retrieve this file for Admiral Lin's review later."
"Understood Elder." The channel was closed and Ji'Zhan sat back in his chair taking a short moment to meditate. That moment was cut short by the Base's Comm.
"Elder Ji'Zhan, Cmdr. Sarkonis here, all charges against you have been dropped."
"Thank you, Cmdr. Sarkonis, I was expecting that ... Ji'Zhan out."
'I knew it,' Ji'Zhan thought. 'How would the Captain know the result of this so soon with out being on the inside'.
"Ji'Zhan to Admiral Lin, I need to talk to you as soon as you can get free ... this is an urgent matter."
<LIN>
---added to post to show the mood of the Debrune Elders and people---
Making another call to the Silasi Ji'Zhan instructed, "Team Leader, it is clear to me that Star Fleet does indeed have a covert team or even an organization that is able to be active on our home world."
The Silasi member responded, "Elder, sir, our orders were for only for the underground city, not the whole Planet."
Ji'Zhan responded, "Yes, I know, that is about to change. I want to enforce a new directive. Go back to that cave systems and analyse every technology used in the making and running of that hide out. What ever you find, incorporate that into our current surveillance. Bring up the Silasi first reserve and activate their status; assigned them to Planet wide surveillance, all of this is for Debrune eyes only ... understood?"
"Understood sir," the Silasi member responded.
Ji'Zhan added, "Increase the cities underground's nhyrh level to rahaen close down all points of access except that of Silasi Customs."
There wasn't any need for a reply, Debrune order of respect was one of actions, the Silasi member knew that the Elder meant for this to happen immediately.
Ji'Zhan returned to his meditations but wondered about T'Val laying in sickbay... he wondered if Doctor Mercy would allow Ji'Zhan to help her. Her emotions by now much be reaching the point of an'kharh. Ji'Zhan wasn't sure if there were an translation to that except that of emotional fear, fear of even her own mind.

"Yes I know you love her," he answered, "and I also know you would do no less than everything you can. She couldn't be in better hands doctor." He hoped his words had their desired effect. "And you know I will not be in your way in this."
The Romulan followed the human doctor, looking back over his shoulder once to gaze at his sleeping ex-wife. He wondered who attacked her and why, but knew now was not the time to ask. Surely security had investigated the matter thoroughly and as she was the mother of his son, he assumed as a matter of courtesy he'd receive a report at some point about it.
"What do you need me to do?" he asked, determined not to cause a painful moment or incident between himself and Mercy. He rolled up the sleeves of his robe with such determination that it had several nurses glance his way with their eyebrows raised and a funny smile playing around their mouths.
He picked up the nearest tricorder and walked over to the nearest patient. "Hello, my name is Tedak and I am going to do my best to help you," he said, by way of breaking the ice, hoping the patient would respond. He knew that even unconscious patients were sometimes responding to just being talked to. He beckoned for the nurses to assist him as he continued to examine the patient. "Doc, this one's been shot," he called, "I think we ought to call security on this one."
(Mercy)
T'Val
T'Val had not been asleep when Tedak had carefully touched her, but she had kept perfectly still. While she knew the Romulan still loved her, and she still loved him she also knew where her true feelings lay, and that was not with Tedak. When he was gone, she opened her eyes, smiling softly as an enquiring warble from Yade resounded soflty in her ear.
"I am feeling much better little green," she whispered as she sat up. Sickbay's ilumination felt too bright to her somewhat sensitive eyes, but she knew too that soon that would straighten itself out as she'd been lying with her eyes closed for quite some time.
When she sat up, her first impression was that sickbay seemed a little crowded, which made her wonder what had transpired during her sedated period. For now she felt a lot calmer, and her emotions seemed to be controlled, something which she was attempting to keep a firm hold on.
With her expression completely blank, she approached the CMO's office, only to be barred entrance by Tsomba. "You need to return to bed T'Val," the chief nurse blatantly told her, "you suffered quite some trauma. You need to rest. Stuart will look into you as soon as he's dealt with current emergency situation."
"What emergency," T'Val demanded, her eyes sparking anger even though her entire demeanor remained neutral.
"None of your concern T'Val," Tsomba insisted, "return to your bed or I shall have you dragged there. I will alert Stuart that you are awake. He will then examine you and tell you whether you can return to your quarters."
T'Val never really liked the chief nurse, she had a pretty lousy bedside manner, not to mention that T'Val never seemed to be able to win an argument with her. "Very well," she said, then returned to her bed.
The Vulcan healer tapped her combadge. "T'Val to Captain Savali, I need to talk to you. It concerns a matter you may be aware of..." She didn't want to call over the intercom what matter, though she didn't know Ji'Zhan had already been aqcuitted.

"Saarok, Ezedreiana We'll need to find homes for these people. At least we need to find out if they want our help. It maybe they just want their ship repaired. I ll leave that to you. Mr Tedak you may be of service too, perhaps the Romulans will be able to take those that do not wish to be in the Federation."
Ezdreiana wondered if any of these people would actually want to go with the Romulans, but realized that it wasn't the time to be thinking of these type of things. She had a job to do and that was what she would put her attention in. She looked at Saarok and noticed that he was already talking to Maxon, so she decided to talk to one of the other refugees.
Strangely enough none of them wished to talk to her. Instead they pointed in the direction of Maxon. She didn't understand why they wouldn't talk to her, but maybe they just weren't trusting people.
"Ezdreiana, can you please set up about a hundred guest quarters and about a dozen family quarters," Saarok said."
"Of course, is there anything else that I can do?" Ezdreiana asked.

Felix was still sitting in his office and contemplating on the recent events. The he decided to hand the apology to Ji'zhan personally. He got up from his seat and went out the door. As he was moving through the station to arrive on the diplomatic level he formulated what he was going to say to the Debrune. He managed to work it all out in a honest enough apology... at least by his own standards. After he arrived to the entrance to the Debrune embassy he chimed the door and waited till he heard:
"Enter", from Ji'zhan
After her heard the word he went inside. Ji’zhan did not seem too pleased to see him. Well he wouldn't be pleased to see him if he was in Ji’zhan’s shoes.
"Elder Ji'zhan, this will take just a moment of your time", Felix said as he took a few well balanced breaths he learned from the Vulcan ways of meditation which allowed him to focus at times like these.
"I have come here to apologize for the mistake my office and me personally made during the investigation which resulted in criminal charges being brought up against you. You must understand that the evidence clearly implicated you at the time and now that it all has been cleared up, it has been determined that the hair found on the weapon which was used to attack a computer tech in Ambassador Saarok's office did not come of your head but was a transfer, the pad’s that were stolen from our office containing evidence were not taken by you as you were with me at the time, the medical records proved that you were unconscious at the time when the 2 men were killed and the 3rd one attacked therefore it could not have been you who shot them. I would also like to apologize for pressuring you into assisting with the investigation and threatening to arrest you if you leave the base. But you must understand I was under severe pressure from the Judge Advocate General and several other high ranking members of the federation, I still am under it but i can now think more clearly. I would also like to apologize from being stubborn, for being an idiot for being so stupid to let this criminal get the better of me and manage to implicate you in this, you an innocent man.", Felix said.
And the worst thing of it all is that he actually meant what he said. After all that happened Felix was actually sorry for the Debrune Elder.
"And if there is anything I can do at all for you Elder, anything at all to amends for this what has happened, please let me know", Felix said

"No, Ambassador, nothing more for now.", Saarok said, "These people are still shaken up from their trip and the logical thing to do now is to let them have some rest before questioning them about their intents.", he said

"If you would excuse me now, Ambassador", Saarok said as he left this part of sickbay and went to see T’Val.
After making way out of the trauma ward of the sickbay, Saarok finally found the bed where T’Val was. He arrived just in time to hear her calling Captain Savali.
"Healer T’Val.", Saarok said as he and his blue firelizard approached her bed.
"I have heard you were attacked, is there anything you remember about it?"; he asked

"You were in the midst of a mind meld?", he questioned, "Even tough it was illogical for you to be attempting this procedure unmonitored as you lack sufficient experience in it?", he questioned

T'Val shifted on her bed so she could look up at the Vulcan diplomat. "Just about everything," she replied, "I was engaged in a mindmeld with the shooting victim and I was just withdrawing myself from his mind when someone attacked me. Unfortunately I did not see who attacked me. However I did see that Ji'Zhan was being framed for murder."
"You were in the midst of a mind meld?", he questioned, "Even tough it was illogical for you to be attempting this procedure unmonitored as you lack sufficient experience in it?", he questioned
T'Val didn't appreciate being questioned like this, certainly not by the Federation diplomat. And she also didn't like being treated like a child. "I am not a child ambassador," she quipped, her annoyance and anger evident, "I am an experienced healer, adept in mind melds. I am not a regular touch telepath, and I am very experienced in this. One cannot prepare for interrupted mindmelds, one cannot train for that. I did not exect to get attacked either."
Her eyes flashed in a mix of fury and terror as the dark images she caught during the mindmeld flashed through her mind again. "It was, however, a terrifying experience," she admitted, then continued to explain her terror when she had regained consciousness. "I have attempted to meditate, but I am unable to regain full control of my emotions. It has nothing to do with my affiliation with Doctor Mercy," she added, "I am certain of that. I feel he is my anchor, the one person to keep me from losing my sanity."
Then she smiled slightly. "And of course my son." She wanted desperately to change the subject. "He has grown, has he not? I am certain he will grow up to be a fine diplomat, just like his father."

"T'Val", Saarok said, "But you are but a child. But that is not something you should resent or even fight against. You should embrace it as a part of your person. For you are wiser than most being on this station and wiser of humans even twice as old as you. And no matter how experienced you believe you are... do not mislead yourself. There is only so much experience one can gain in a predetermined amount of time. You may believe you are experienced in the techniques of a mind meld but your mind is not strong enough yet. You could have suffered irreparable damage to your mind from the interruption for you always must shield a part of your mind during a meld you should never share and allow all of your mind to meld with the mind of the person you are melding with especially in cases where the person you are melding with is not... has not agreed to the meld.", he said
"As for your emotions... I could be hypocritical now and say what the elders of Vulcan have been saying for centuries... that emotions are a sin, that they should be contained fully. But I will not go down that path... I will say... you control your emotions for as long as you do not let them control your actions. For those who battle with them to keep them completely contained do so only for one reason, fear of their emotions. Yes, fear. They are afraid if they let their emotions come to the surface, they are afraid that their emotions will take control of them. But this is something you should not be afraid of... For your person radiates with power... enough power to avoid letting your emotions control your actions even if they come to the surface", he said
"But there is something I can do for you, if you are willing of course. I believe it would help you... it would give you strength... strength which is already within you; it would bring it out to surface if you would mind meld here with me now. But in the way that you meld with my mind... that you initiate the procedure and allow me to see... to see what you saw in that man's mind before the meld broke. However this is only a proposal which you do not need to accept and I will not... be offended in any way if you refuse. Nor will I think of you any less.", Saarok said

T'Val sighed. Sure the ambassador was roughly thrice her age, but that didn't give him the right to treat her as an insolent child. Yet he didn't seem to be chiding her for her actions, he even seemed to try and understand.
She watched as he pulled up a chair, all the while keeping an eye out for her fiancé. She knew he probably wouldn't like her doing this right now, but she felt she had to do it. To share with someone who understood would indeed ease the burden. She nodded at Saarok as he settled himself, explaining that he wouldn't be offended.
"You might not," she answered, "but I might." She sat up and swung her legs over the edge of the biobed so that she was facing the older Vulcan. "Are you certain you want to do this?" she querried, "I found what I found terrifying." She smiled ever so slightly as she reflected on her own words. "But then, is there anything you do find terrifying?"
At Saarok's nod, she touched the katra points on his face and closed her eyes in concentration as she initiated the mindmeld and invited the older man to view what she had seen. She showed him everything she had seen, her own thoughts and feelings on the subject also filtering into his mind. Once more she experienced the utter terror she had been experiencing when the meld was interrupted and she released Saarok's face, shaking in fear.

"You maintained a link with him even after you went unconscious.”, Saarok said slowly opening his eyes, "And the sensation you are feeling is the result of the link existing between the two of you ate the time when something affected his memory the effect of which has with a cascade effect expanded through the link back to your mind. It is... natural for you to experience fear over this... what you have received is nothingness... a void, blackness. It would shake anyone and especially you in the state you were in at that time. But I can help you...", he said, "I will share with you my thoughts... my...", Saarok said as he put his fingers on the corresponding places on T'Val's face and initiated a mind meld
T'Val could see a young Vulcan boy running down the plains of the Takona region. Then it switched to an image of an old man of Vulcan descent initiating a mind meld with the boy. She could sense the fear that boy experience at that time. Then the image change to a Vulcan at the age of 30, he was in a mind meld with a Vulcan Female who was much, much older than him, the female was T'Pragh of Vulcan, once the President of the Federation. Then she felt what the young Vulcan male received from her.
"You must help the federation. Anyone can be a Starfleet officer, but you must protect the foundations of the Federation from enemies unknown to the common officer even unknown to the common politicians. There are times when we must bend the rules and go to whatever means necessary to protect what we have. Logic states the outcome is more important than the ways used to reach it."
Then she heard the young mans mind fight against the things he received from the meld.
"We can not fall so low as to act against everything we believe in. Logic states that the thing you are suggesting is against the very basics of our society.", then the response
"Is it", the woman said and then released all her memories and knowledge onto the young Vulcan displaying all the threats that occurred to and against the federation, things that were never mentioned and that never will be mentioned in history books. Then the image change. A white cloud overwhelmed T'Val. She could sense it was calm, silent... peaceful.
"Darkness is something we can not be afraid of... we must accept it and allow it to become a necessary part of life. If we do not do that it will engulf us and destroy us."
In the next moment thousands of images flooded through her but it was not painful it all felt... natural as her mind slowly drifted away from the mainstream of information coming to her. Slowly she pulled away from the meld, withdrawing more and more... until she was conscious again. Saarok removed his hand from her face.
"Now you understand that I truly can understand the fear you felt.", Saarok said

With a certain degree of relief Magellan was confident that things were starting to return to normal, well what passed for normal.
Saarok, Ji'zhan and Felix seemed certain that the problems surrounding the bomb, and intelligence framing the Debrune Elder were over. Magellan was still dissatisfied with the outcome. One of his security offices had been killed and the actual reason for everything seemed remarkably unclear, but at this point Magellan was just glad things had simmered down.
Feeling his hosts resurfacing again he quickly remedicated himself with another shot of Isoboramine. Worryingly it seemed to be taking larger and larger doses to keep their voices out of his mind. Perhaps now things had calmed down he should see Mercy, but then... there was still the Mayoral Election. With Hishar withdrawing the mayor was now unopposed, the vote would be a mere formality. Perhaps he should wait until after the elections, then he would go to Dr Mercy and see what could be done.
***
As the small green hawk shaped shuttle touched down on the landing pad on the Shuttle Deck the side door and ramp were already opening and descending. As the pads slowly touched the floor with a reverberating thud.
Three pairs of black booted feet emerged from the lighted cabin. They descended the ramp and approached the customs desks. Holding up an array of passes they were waved through and given access to Assailant. They crossed the plaza outside Shuttle Control and entered one of the Express Turbolifts. "Diplomatic Level" the lead man stated as the doors closed.
Before the doors had even finished opening the lead man was exiting the lift and striding down the corridor, pausing only to check the map that glowed on the wall. With confidence and a touch of arrogance they walked straight into the Romulan Embassy. "Yes, how can I help you" Nelon asked looking up from his desk. The two men accompanying the lead men laid down the assorted cases and bags they were carrying and left the room.
"I am looking for Citizen Tedak" the man stated
Nelon frowned, "Ambassador Tedak is currently in sickbay assisting Dr Mercy"
The man made a noise that was half snort half laugh,
"I see."
"Your welcome to wait, or perhaps you could leave your details and the Ambassador could contact you later" Nelon smiled,
"That won't be neccesary I ll just go straight through to the office." Nelon leapt up and moved to block the door, "You can't do that sir, Thats private." "Oh I m sorry didnt I explain" The man replied with a smug smile, "I m Ambassador Vebn s' Khellian, I m here to replace Ambassador Tedak."
OOC: Queue Da-da-der music!!
