Jason was slightly startled as the holodeck materialized into a sickbay loaded with Medical Emergencies. Some people had severe surface wounds, and were crying out in pain. Some were cut, with severe bleeding. One had a large burn mark on the front of his uniform. He was unconscious.
A Nurse approaced Jason.
Nurse: Doctor, thank goodness you're here. We've got a lot of wounded here.
Jason: Situtation report?
Nurse: We were attacked by an unidentified alien vessel. After quite a few torpedoes, which caused a lot of casualties, they fired an energy beam at us. The energy hit the Chief Engineer in the chest. He's suffered neurological damage.
Jason: Is he in danger of dying?
Nurse: Not at present, but we can't gurantee that.
Jason looked over at a man who was pleading profusely from the leg.
Jason: What that guy certainly is going to die if we don't stop that bleeding, lets go.
They headed over to him. A slightly distressed nurse stood over him.
Jason: Report.
Nurse #2: A bulkhead pretty much exploded near him. A shard of it lacerated his right thigh severly. I haven't been able to stop it yet.
Jason: Have you tried a Coagulation Activator?
Nurse #2: No, I hadn't thought of that yet.
Jason: Try it. It'll help clot the wound.
Nurse #2: Yes, Doctor.
They proceeded to the next patient. Jason ran the peripheral of the medical tricorder over her.
Jason: Second and third degree burns only. Use a dermal regenerator.
They moved on to the next one. He was just scraped up quite a bit.
Jason: He'll be fine, clean him up.
They moved on to the Chief Engineer. There was a large round burn mark on his uniform covered most of his chest. His neck, face and hands were discolored with a mix of blue and purple.
Jason: Diagnosis?
Nurse #1: Severe neurological trauma. The energy weapon just about knocked all the neural energy out of him. He's almost brain-dead.
Jason: Neural Stimulator.
The nurse placed it on the CEOs head.
Jason: 10 millivolts, 5 second burst.
The CEO's body tensed, then relaxed. The monitor showed no increase in neural activity.
Jason: Again.

As the Asian left the Briefing Room for the CTSO's office, she thought back to Akleth's Combat Training Class on Starbase Conqueror. There were several cadets that had not taken advantage of the chance to study combat procedures under Akleth, a recognized authority in Xin-Ling's eyes. It would be good if there was at least a chance for combat training among the new cadets.
Of course, it would have to be on their off-duty hours, and therefore approximately three classes would have to be conducted if they were to do this at all. Further, though Xin-Ling was a skilled combatant, she was not certain she was that good of an instructor. She toyed with the idea of asking Lieutenant Arturo Medicci if he could instruct the class.
A quick conversation with him in the CTSO's office eliminated that idea. His specialty was not hand-to-hand combat, but that of ship-to-ship.
"How about yourself, ma'am. I've seen you in battle once, and you're really something to see!"
"But I no know how well I do in class as teacher," Xin-Ling protested.
"I'm betting you do just fine," Medicci said with a smile.
Xin-Ling sighed as she found herself the most likely candidate for instructor.
Next question, who would come? How would it be set-up?
Who would come? If TJ or Captain ONE felt the cadets should attend those classes, they would be ... sizeable.
How should the class be set-up? Out of respect for Akleth, Xin-Ling was leaning towards conducting the training sessions in the same manner as the huge Klingon did when he taught on Starbase Conqueror.
She would have to work out a few details, and perhaps talk it over with Dr. Johnson.
Xin-Ling left the Tactical/Security Office, and started toward Dr. Johnson's office. On her way, she saw Cadet Athar, and, remembering the previous conversation with her that had been cut short, waved and spoke.
"Hello, cadet. You have time to talk now, maybe?"

Zoarial sometimes kind of liked to be told what to do, he was good and eager in making decisions, but he was always uncomfortable with the idea that some people would depend on his decisions. But that would be over after this training here, Zoarial guessed, because Commander Edwards would show him the possibilities and Zoarial could use those later and maybe modify them a bit.
Back to the console,
"Speed set to 2,5 warp factor Commander! I have one question though about the ship in distress. I reckon we got some information about it's whereabouts since we are able to trace the sos-report, wouldn't the spiral cause an unneccesary distance to travel, please correct me if I'm wrong sir"
<<TJ>>
"Cadet Washington, could you please scan a radius of 15 parasec, it would safe us a lot of searching if we cover a larger area, but I don't know if the scanner is accurate enough on such distances at this high speed. Commander Edwards, can you please tell me something about the accuracy of the scanner, how far is the maximum radius and is it affected by the speed of this vessel?"
<<TJ>>
"Apart from that, Mr Washington, I would like you to report flying debries and meteoroids also? And Cadet CNO, I still don't know your name, can you please give me a status report of our navigational deflector disc? I want to use it when ever possible. What's your name again?"
<<farlo>>
"Okay everything is set for the search, Commander Edwards, it won't be long untill we find that ship sir!"

... I have one question though about the ship in distress. I reckon we got some information about it's whereabouts since we are able to trace the sos-report, wouldn't the spiral cause an unneccesary distance to travel, please correct me if I'm wrong sir" TJ liked this cadet. He was a thinker. Further, he knew how to question a command in such a way as to be non-confrontational. The only downside was that, in an emergency, it might slow his response to a command necessary for the salvation of the ship.
"Here an' there in space, me lad, 'tis anomolies ye'll be findin'. An' many o' them bein' totally unfamiliar.
While it would be a better idea on a long-range search-and-rescue mission, all we're knowin' here is that they're somewhere nearby. For this reason, we're goin' into spiral course. If it had been long-range, we would've used the signal t' get into th' area, then proceeded with what we're doin' now." "I'm likin' th' idea of decreasin' th' radius o' th' scan, but not t' that degree. 'Tis no less than eighteen parsecs I would be suggestin' at th' current speed o' the Hepta.
Mr. Tejharet, ye may decrease scanner range t' that amount." Well done, Mr. Tejharet, Mr. Zoarial. Carry on."
TJ tapped his comm badge. He thought, if Ms. Torban was not needing the other Navigation cadet, he could profit by being on the bridge, and he would like to alternate their duties so that they could both become highly proficient officers. When Ms. Torban was back on duty, he wanted to hand her two outstanding cadets that she could then "fine-tune".
"Commander Edwards t' Cadet Franz."

OOC TJ turned his attention to the cadet at the Operations console and spoke.
"Mr. Washington, if you start scannin' at a twenty parsec radius for anythin' that might be resemblin' th' craft we're searchin' for ..." IC Zoarial nodded, but thought things over and said: "Commander Edwards I would not dare to prove you wrong, but I allready was aware of the fact that the increased speed of this ship would cause a decreased efficiency of the scanner, together with that I also commented that I would have liked to increase the radius, but that I was not sure if the resulting information would be accurate enough. I'm sorry I was this brutal sir, I will understand if you want me to pack my bags now and leave this vessel." Zoarial put his head down and he could have kicked himself, being this brutal to a commander, the nerve!

"Ye'll not be packin' your bags today, me fine gossam," TJ responded. "Th' analysis o' me order was correct, an' pleased I am that ye saw it.
"Stay with th' console; when your fellow Navigation cadet arrives at th' Bridge, th' two o' ye will be tradin' off, alternatin' th' duties o' th' cadet in Navigation."
Just caught that. I'd forgotten my original command was for a radius of TWENTY parsecs – I thought I'd said ten!
Went back and altered my entry to reflect it. Thanks, Zoarial!

Cadet Athar was nervous as she waited for Dr Barbara Johnson to give her her orders for the day. She got on well with her instructoe but this was her first official mission with Starfleet. She hoped things would go well.

Trenia had spent the last few hours in the holodeck working on a updating a navigation-training program. She wanted to personalise program for training cadet she wasn’t satisfied with the original programs, which were on offered, most were out dated. She was currently stood on a shuttle and had inputting random events that would occur while the cadet was piloting the shuttle. She also had also inputted a coupe of new starship designs inputted. She’d been working on this program now for the last few weeks and was hoping it would soon to be ready to test on a cadet. She inputted the last event from her PAD and shut the file on the screen.
“Computer save and close program,” she said she would test the program another time. She needed to get the bridge and see her new cadets. Trenia then downloaded the briefing and cadet roaster from the computer to her PAD and headed out of the holodeck. As Trenia walked up to the bridge she read the data about the briefing and her two cadets that were assigned to her.
She arrived on the bridge shortly and saw a Klingon sat at the navigation station that she recognised as Zoarial. She walked over to him and looked over him shoulder at the helm control. Everything seemed to be order.
“I’m Commander Trenia Torban,” she introduced.
“Cadet Zoarial,” he responded.
“How are you finding the helm?” she asked him.
OCC: Happy Birthday Zoarial

OFF: Hippo birdie to ewe. Hippo birdie to ewe. Hippo birdie to ewe. Hippo birdie to ewe. I got this off a b-day card I saw a while ago. Instead of words, it had animal pictures. But you get the idea. Happy birthday Zoarial!
Jordan was very impressed with the ease that Jason was handling the situation. He soon had taken care of everything and Jordan smiled at him.
Jordan: Excellent job Jason. Now, while doctors don't typically have to fight, with what I've heard happenin' on this ship, it wouldn't be a bad idea to practice. I hear that Commander Xin-Ling is trying to set up a combat session. But first, one last hologram.
She programed in a situation that she had remembered from her homeworld of Pern. She made sure that Jason was properly attired and then started it. He was transported to Pern during Threadfall. There were literal threads falling from the sky and people were calling for his attention. Jason paused momentarily when he saw the size of the dragons and then raced over.
OFF: If you come across any questions, then you can pm me. TJ, I did my best to open it up for you.

::she manages to catch up with her Cadet in the hallway right outside her office. The Cadet seemed confident but slightly nervous:: Hey there Cadet...sorry ive been so hard to get ahold of. Ahm always late...its a wonder they dont fire me or put me in a brig or somethin! ::laughing brightly she ushers the speechless Cadet into her office:: Please have a seat.
::Barb sits down and Cadet Asthar sits down opposite her, but no desk is between them...Barbara tries to make her patients AND students comfortable::
First off...id like to hear your feeling so far. Bout startin off tha trainin mission. Give me your impressions of your peers. That sorta thang. Its important to understand the different tensions that work between people and in situations. It does relate to yer duties. ::The vibrantly red haired country sounding woman smiles and orders up two hot chocolates from her replicator, offering one to Athar, and waiting for her responce::

Cadet Washington, who had been summoned by the Operations Officer, and had his absence from the Bridge approved by TJ, who had promised to keep an eye on his console, was now absent. Barely had he left the nerve center of the Hepta when a flashing light caught TJ's eye on the Operations console.
Chiding himself for authorizing the cadet's absence from his post, he was readying himself to move to the empty console, but inwardly rejoiced when Cadet Franz entered the Bridge in response to TJ's earlier summons.
"Mr. Franz, 'tis knowin' I am ye're Navigation an' not Operations, but I'd like ye t' take th' empty console beside your crewmate at the Navigation console."
Doing so, Cadet Franz noted the light, indicating the scanners had picked up something.
"Sensors indicating something off to port, Commander Edwards," said Mr. Franz, seconds after taking the station.
"Might we have been smiled upon by th' wee folk in findin' our goal so quickly?" he smiled. What good fortune to locate the "disabled" Federation vessel almost immediately upon leaving starbase!
"Not likely, sir," the Navigation cadet who was covering the Operations panel answered, taking his information from the console. "Its size is far too large to be any Federation craft."
TJ's smile faded into an expression of curiosity.
"Really, Mr. Franz?"
"And one other thing, Commander ..."
"Go on, Mr. Franz."
"Whatever it is, it's coming toward us at an impressive speed!"
Once again, TJ's expression changed; this time, from curiosity to concern.

OOC: Good Work everyone things seem to be ticking over nicely.
Farlo - Its a shame you wish to leave so soon, your character development was excellent and I could see a bright future for you in S47, perhaps you would consider retaining your character that way you could return to srvice in the future if/when you get more time.
Athar - I m sorry but I m having great difficulty reading your posts when they are in purple. - Personally I m a friend of the colour purple but unfortunatly I have to shove my head practically through my screen to read it lol. And don't worry too much about not writing long posts, its quality not quantity that really counts. The ability to make longer posts will come with time and don't forget we Instructors are here to offer guidance.
IC: Harash-kyat stormed about the engine room in his usual brusque manner. It was the considered opinion of the whole engineering team that the Commander was getting worse. When he had first come aboard he had been a hard task master but then he had begun to soften. Recently though his manner was deteriorating and rather rapidly. Ensign Simmons believed it had all started when the Commander had had his first child. A child that was currently being raised on the Agamemnon by his even more brusque and difficult bondmate. "Whats going on?" the Grazerite bellowed as he watched the throbbing Warp Core suddenly wink out. The usually swirling mix of blue and white was suddenly dull and inert the rhythmic thump replaced with silence. "Simmons, Carter, Fiot Get to the Nacelle control rooms, check teh Bussard Collectors. Taragot run a diagnostic on teh ignition and start up sequences. T'Lanh... T'Lanh get your pointy ears over here and check the injector ports." Harash-kyat paused to draw breath ignoring the disgruntled looks from his staff. "Farlo. Cadet?" he called into his combadge. "Yes sir" Farlo replied from his position at the engineering console on the bridge. "Have you noticed the sudden power failure." "Of course Sir I m running an analysis now. An object is travelling towards us at an immense speed" "Nice of us to be informed" Farlo ignored the Grazerites gripe fully aware that there had been no time to warn any departments of the situation and continued, "I believe its pushing before it a sub-space wake that has knocked or warp field out of alignment." "Ah well very good" Harash-kyat muttered, "Tell the Commander that he better be able to manage with Secondary Power and thrusters until I can get the field re-aligned or find a way to dampen the effect. That means no battles. Unless they want to fight without shields or phasers and use throwing torpedoes out the airlock."

As were most personnel not on the Bridge of the Hepta, Xin-Ling was unaware of the massive object headed at such tremendous speed toward the flagship of the Third Fleet. This early in the mission, there were not many emergencies in Security, but she always believed in preparation.
On her way to Dr. Johnson's office, she reserved the use of one of the holodecks as a site for the Combat class she was planning. How she wished that huge, lovable Klingon, Akleth, had been aboard. He was an accomplished and recognized authority in fighting techniques, and his graduates were seldom taken by surprise – or, at least, by surprises from which they could not extricate themselves! She hoped the same could be said of her students when they had completed their training.
Rounding the bend in the corridor and coming in sight of Dr. Barbara Johnson's office, she walked through the doorway and saw Cadet Athar sitting with the ship's counselor, talking over two cups of what appeared to be a hot drink, perhaps chocolate.
"Oh!" she said, having been unaware until that instant her friend was in conference. "I so sorry. You busy now; I come back later."

Jason: Increase the strength of the pulse by 25%.
Nurse: Are you sure, Doctor? That's a little high.
Jason: We've got to get this man's brain going again somehow. Just do it.
Nurse: Aye, sir.
The CEO's body moved significantly with that pulse.
Nurse: Neural activity is being restored. 10%....15%.....20%. It's working!
Jason: Good. Continue to monitor him. I'll check on our other patients.
The patient with the scrapes was gone. The burn patient was being given a final once-over, and the bleeding patient was healing nicely. He walked over to Dr. Mackler.
Jordan: How did I do?
Jordan: Rather well. The strength of that pulse was a little risky, but it appeared to work.
Jason: So, what now?

Jordan was starting to scramble when she saw the speed and ease that Jason went at the wounds. She felt like a child as Jason faced her. She was still trying to switch to the mentality of a superior but that was hard considering she was younger than her cadet.
Jason: So, what now?
Jordan opened her mouth and closed it. She tapped her combadge.
Jordan: =Mackler to Edwards=
TJ replied after a slight pause.
TJ: Yes?
Jordan: Do you think that ya could try to see if there are any free cadets that could come down to the holodeck? I heard Xin-Ling wanted to try one of Akleth's combat classes on the ship and I have a free holodeck and an anxious cadet with me.
She glanced at Jason and smiled. He was a good guy and tried really hard.
TJ: Would if I had th' time. We have a bit of a situation right now.
Jordan's smile faded.
Jordan: Need any help?
TJ: At this exact moment, no, but I'd be ready for anything.
Jordan: What? No details? All right. Mackler out.
She sighed and thought as quickly as she could. She mentally called to Draco and he appeared a second later.
Jason: Is everything ok Commander?
Jordan: As far as I know. Draco says that there's somethin' hurtlin' towards the ship at an incredible speed... Jason, are you afraid of anything?
She knew that the possibilities of the thing actually hitting them was slim and that the fear vampire had already been defeated but it was better to be safe than sorry.

“How are you finding the helm?” she asked him. As Zoarial was very concentrated on his duties, he didn't sense the arrival of Commander Torban at first, so when she approached him, he was caught unaware, and almost jumped up when she started speaking. “I’m Commander Trenia Torban,” <<AAAAAH>> “Cadet Zoarial,” Zoarial responded. But when Zoarial found out it was a non-hostile being that would eventually lead him to good helmsmanship, he relaxed. Now Zoarial started to investigate Commander Torban, every move was and every detail of her body was recorded “How are you finding the helm?” Commander Torban asked Zoarial. Zoarial didn't have to think about that question. "I find it great Commander! I got an excelent introduction from Commander Edwards to this post, and I allready succesfully navigated the vessel out of it's space dock. I'm looking forward learning from you Commander Torban. The journey so far has been going well, we have been cruising at 2,5 warp factor for some time now, our course is an expanding spiral. But our scanners (set to a radius of 18 parasec) haven't picked up anything special yet. There have been no meteroids or other special objects in space, so we were able to fly on auto pilot, it was not needed to me to override controls and make a sudden evasive manouvre. All is going..." Zoarial suddenly detected commotion around the Operations console. He saw Commander Edwards smiling, so Zoarial knew that nothing bad was happening, relaxed he slided back into his chair, but suddenly Zoarial saw the smile fade away to a mere grin, and after that he saw an intence look of concern on Commander Edwards' face. Zoarial suggested there was something wrong with the ship, so he asked Commander Edwards: "Sir what is happening? Should I alter the speed or course of the vessel to help maintenance sort out this problem?" <<TJ>>

"Sir what is happening? Should I alter the speed or course of the vessel to help maintenance sort out this problem?" "Mr. Franz, see if ye can bring an image o' th' thing approachin' us on th' viewscreen," TJ said. <Cadet Franz>TJ's eyes were fastened on the viewscreen, which showed the massive object approaching them.
"That, Mr. Zoarial, is the problem. 'Tis suggestin' I am that ye be prepared for some fancy evasive maneuvers, under th' direction o' your instructor, of course.
"In th' meantime," he continued, "Raise shields an' bring phaser banks online."
At that moment, word got to TJ that the Hepta's weapons were unavailable and that FTL speed was, at the moment, out of the question. <Commander Torban & Cadet Zoarial>

Jordan: Jason, are you afraid of anything?
Jason: Not particularly. I have a slight anxiety over climbing trees, due to what happened to my sister. But since there isnt a problem, I would have to say I have no relevant fear.
Jordan: Good, that will be helpful.
Jason: Commander Edwards didn't give us any idea of what exactly to expect, but I think we can deduce we can likely expect. If this massive object hits us there certainly will be plenty of bumps, welts, concussions, anything that could be caused by a sharp, abrupt shaking of the ship. Such jarring could cause overload, so burns can be expected. If it's a weapon of any kind, and has any power other than that of being a projectile, the severity of the first two results will be heightened, and we'll have to deal with whatever effects the weapon has.
Jordan stood there, thinking.

Off: Cadet Asthar Honeybee dont you even worry. We gona fix you right on up. Thats my job, to teach ya how to post a lil broader. Watch the descriptions that Xin Ling and I make.
On:
::Answering her Cadets question, she sips from her chocolate and says:: Well yar first order of business is to walk around and see how people are feelin. Servin on a starship is, frankly, a high stress job. For everyone involved....::blinking and looking towards the doorway, where stands LTC Xin Ling Chan...her best friend and partner in trouble since the very beginning. She then says to Xin Ling:: Come on in sugar! Meet my new Cadet. Lt Commander Chan, this is Cadet Asthar, Councelor.
::she watches the both of them shake hands and then says:: Xin, honey, gimme just a minute so i can give Asthar her orders and then you and me can jaw for a lil while mkay? ::winking to her friend::
::she then turns again to her Cadet:: Anyway...your assignment today is to go to the bridge, engineering, and medical. I want you to observe peoples reactions to thangs. Your bigext job is gona be to determine if that person is under stress and THEN talk to em bout it. Ask em how they doin, let them talk about their duties. Thats primarily the biggest part of our job. The Counsellors maintain tha mental balance on a starship. So dont nobody freak out and run amok ::she giggles at that last bit, loving the "run amok" phrasing:: Well get to it Cadet, yer first target will be Commander TJ Edwards.
Now if ya dont mine, me and Commander Chin here got some talkin to do, and you got some councilin to get about.
