The ship hummed slightly. But not audibly. Giga heard it all in his mind.
It was an odd sensation.
He was planning a way out of this mess. His mind racing with thoughts. He hoped that he hadnt damaged the Hepta too badly but he needed to show the crew of the Pax Revelation that he could be trusted.
He decided that he would try and send a coded transmission to the Hepta. He wasn't sure whether they had recieved his previous message and so he set to work.
Moving from the centre chair he accessed a control panel to the left, he was doing it manualy so if the transmission was found someone else could be blamed.
He decided that launching a probe with a federation signature the Hepta would pick it up and access the message within however he had to alter the sensors and probes manually without anyone noticing.
He cocked his head slightly as the Pax dropped out of Warp and began at sublight speeds the rest of the journey to Earth. They had just aproached Jupiter. The information was being sent straight to his mind.
15minutes later and they were on a Standard Orbit around Earth, the female entered and smiled.
"At last, I haven't seen this place in many years." She said staring at the blue-green planet.
Giga ignored her.
The genderless male then entered, Giga had not seen him since his initial kidnapping.
"When do we begin?" He asked the female.
"That is up to our master." She said firmly.
"You begin when you wish. I have no control over that part of the ship, you seemed to have left that of the initiation program." Giga said.
"Yes...we did." The female started. "We did not know whether you could be trusted and so leaving you control of that weapon would not be advised."
"Indeed." Giga replied. "So inform me exactly what this plan involves."
"It is simple, we..." She started before the genderless person spoke.
"We can not let him know too much!" He cried. "He cannot have too much power unless he reporst back to his federation friends!"
"I will do what I like. Do not forget the last time you disobeyed me.." She said threatningly. "We have a wepaon that locates Starships that we have on database and destroys them and anything on them. We decided to use a localised weapon to avoid as many casualties as we possibly can, but of course war always comes with a price..."
"So you plan to fire this weapon at Earth destroying any Starships down there and any Starship building facilities I assume." Giga said.
"Correct." The female replied.
"I then assume that you will destroy all the orbital facilities and then move onto the next key federation world which would either be Vulcan or Andor." He said.
"Yes." She said bluntly.
"So why do you need me? Surely the weapon can be fired by any one of you. You do not require me at all." Giga said.
"Oh but that is where you are wrong. We need your android mind. If we are attacked during our attack no Earth then we will need someone who can control all major systems without the loss of our crews life." The female said.
"Basically she is saying you are expendable." The genderless species said.
"Compared to my crew. Yes he is." She replied. "We will leave you now master." She said to Giga. "Tomorrow is going to be a busy day."
The Bridge emptied and Giga was left alone. He immediately got back to work on the probe. He could not allow them to fire that weapon. It would cripple the Federation....

Jordan was scanning a broken arm when the ship suddenly rocked sideways. She grabbed the biobed to stabilize her balance when the call came about injured crewmembers on the bridge.
Jordan: I'm on my way.
She grabbed a medkit and raced up to the bridge, meeting up with Barbara in the turbolift. They stepped onto the bridge a minute later and carefully took the wounded off the bridge. Jordan glanced at the captain and saw him staring at the viewscreen and he sounded like he was humming to himself. She resolved to come back when things had stabilized again. She went back down to sickbay and worked on the injuries there. When the last injury was finally stable she made sure that the nurses were fine then went back up to the bridge. She stepped off and approached O'Connor.
Jordan: I need to ask you somethin'. How long has the captain been actin' spaced out?
James: Too long in my opinion. He's been acting very weird lately. He doesn't seem to care about what's happening to his crew or to his ship.
Jordan: Thanks. I have a gut feelin' that this isn't good. (turning to ONE) Captain?
There was no response so Jordan raised her voice a little. There was still no response. Now she dropped the captain bit and walked right up to him.
Jordan: ONE!
He came out of his reverie and stared at her.
ONE: Captain ONE or Captain is how you are to address me Commander.
Jordan: I apologize sir. I just needed to get your attention and using your name seemed to be the only thin' that would work. I have somethin' to ask ya. Are ya feelin' ok?
ONE: I'm fine.
Jordan: You've been actin' more off-base than usual. That's only why I'm askin'.
ONE: (tersely) I am fine Commander.
Jordan jerked away from him in surprise. She flushed and backed away. ONE went back to his gazing lazily at the viewscreen. She bumped into TJ.
TJ: I think it would be best if you went back to sickbay Jordan.
Jordan: Somethin's not right TJ. I don't know what it is but somethin's not right with him. I'll be in sickbay if you need me.
She stepped into the turbolift and glanced once more at ONE before the doors closed.

As TJ stared at his hero on the deck of the Bridge the concern for her contorted his face even further. Somewhere within those contortions was concern also for all the other casualties he saw as well. However, as Drs. Mackler and Johnson were dealing with the situation, there was some consolation. They would handle whatever needed doing amongst the injured.
Now, however, the ship had suffered damage, and word had come from the engineering console that there was no FTL capability, and only partial impulse power. Tapping his comm badge, TJ called for the Engineering department.
"Commander Edwards t' Engineerin'. Respond."
–/\– Engineering here, sir. –/\–
"'Tis an estimated time o' repair on warp drive an' shields I'm needin'."
<Lydia or Jessica>
"Fine then. Proceed, an' give me word th' instant both functions are online. TJ out."
Meantime, TJ had noticed the code Cadet Giga was using, but not until nearly the end of his transmission. All he received from Giga's eyeblinks was that the cadet was apologizing for the explosions and that the alien vessel was on its way to earth, obviously up to no good.
"Helm, proceed at full usable impulse power t' earth. We're retrievin' our shipmate an' destroyin' his kidnappers. Warp capability should bring us back here before th' supernova is set t' blow." Thoughts of the Breen filled his memory, and though this was not a Breen vessel, he found it difficult not to desire personal revenge against these unknows – they were like the Breen, willing to abduct Starfleet cadets, and they must be stopped!
ONE continued humming, and suddenly TJ turned.
"An' someone please see t' th' captain! Obviously, 'tis not himself he is."

The probe was done. Finally complete, he had coded a transmission into the circuitry something that he hoped one of the Engineering officers would figure out.
The bridge doors opened.
Was it time already?
"Master, now is the time for the Federation to fall." The female said.
"Always melo-dramatic aye Farishira?" The genderless person spoke.
"You fool!" Farishira cried. "Now he knows my identity. He has an advantage!"
Giga immediately accessed his databanks.
"Farishira Garitre. Spent 4 years in a Klingon Penal Camp and 3 years in a high security Federation Prison."
He looked at her and then at the genderless one.
"You must be her accomplice, Garadish Hefrater. Spent the same amout of time in the Klingon Penal Camp but 2 years shorter in the Federation Prison. You then dissapeared where I assume you began to build this craft."
"Fool!" Farishira cried, turning to Garadish and slapping him sharply on the face.
"Now it is time for you to leave." Giga said.
He ripped the plugs from his arms and was immediately disconnected from the Ship.
Power immediately failed.
"I will reinstate power and therefore life-support when you leave the bridge. Any attempt to stop my actions will result in casualties." Giga said. This went against all Starfleet protocols but it was necessary at this time.
They slowly left the bridge. Farishira turned and looked at him.
"Believe me Giga, this is not the last that you'll see of me." She said before leaving.
Garadish was right - melo-dramatic. However Giga took her threat quite seriously, he would not enadger the lives of his crewmates again.
He sealed the bridge and activated emergency power. Giving enough power to the engines, life support and basic weapons. Not the cloak.
The Pax Revelation decloaked and was immediately hailed by a Federation security beacon.
Giga straightened his uniform, an action he had seen organic officers do and prepared to talk to Starfleet Command.

He activated the viewscreen and waited for the transmission to come through.
=^= Unknown vessel. Please identify yourself and the nature of your purpose in Federation and Starfleet protected space =^=
"I am Cadet Giga of the U.S.S. Hepta. I was on my training mission to a star that was going to go Super Nova...."
=^= Yes Yes Cadet, but what are you doing here in an unregistered vessel? =^=
"I was kidnapped by ex-convixts planning to cripple the Federation. The U.S.S. Hepta was severly damaged in an attack and I was forced to command this vessel and bring her to Earth. I then managed to take command of the vessel and shut down main power. This is when you contacted me."
=^= Do you have any proof of any of your tale? As we detect no other lifesigns on your vessel =^=
Giga moved to a console and activated the sensors. All the shuttles were gone and the officer was right there were no life signs.
"They have left." Giga said.
=^= Im sorry Cadet. I need to take you in for further questioning. Please stand down your vessel and prepare for transport =^=
Giga made a snap decision. He had to return to the Hepta. He was sure that the ex-cons would return there.
"I am sorry Commander." Giga said. "I am unable to comply."
=^= Cadet. Your entire Career rests on you coming with me... =^= Giga cut the comm and activated the engines.
He may lose his career in Starfleet but the lives of all the Hepta crew relied on him, he wasnt sure what Farishira Garitre had planned but he did not want the rest of the crew to find out at a high cost.
Was he becoming emotionaly tied to the crew? Was that even possible?
He lay in a course for the Hepta's last known co-ordinates and set off at maximum warp. Sensors picked up 2 federation runabouts moving in close. He activated the cloak. He was not going to fire on allied vessels....

The Hepta was in rather a bad shape. Damage control teams were running to and fro to assess and repair the damage caused by the alien vessel. An agitated Commander Edwards was checking sensor logs and Tactical data to determine any weakness in the alien vessel's shielding or weapons systems. He also looked quite worried about his Tactical Officer. James walked up to him. "Commander, go and see her." Edwards looked up, distractedly. "Ehm? What?" "I said Commander Chan. You're worried about her. Go and see her, I can manage things up hear for a while." Commander Edwards smiled. "Thanks for the offer James, I know you can manage, but I'm needed here, especially....." Commander Edwards lowered his voice. "Especially with the Captain acting like this." James nodded. He understood perfectly. To be sure, he wasn't happy with Captain One's behaviour either. After his snap at Doctor Mackler, he hadn't said a word to anyone. He just remained in his Captain's chair staring at the viewscreen and mumbeling to himself. James looked up at Commander Edwards again. "Shall I check on her Commander?"
A few minutes later, James entered Sickbay. He saw several Bridge officers lying on the beds. Some of them had really nasty burns, others were merely there for observation or mending fractures. Giga's attack had caused a lot of suffering among the crew. In the bed on the far side of Sickbay he saw the familiar shape of Commander Chan. He quickly walked up to her but was stopped halfway through by Doctor Mackler. "Just where did you think you were going Commander?" she asked. "I was just checking up on Commander Chan. She seemed in rather a bad shape before you carried her off to Sickbay." "What se need right now is rest Commander, total rest. Tell TJ that I want no visitors for her today." "But how is she doc?" "she's had a hard bump on the head, a broken arm which I have been able to mend and some cuts and bruises. Nothing permanent, but I don't want her to be disturbed. She has a light concussion and she needs absolute rest. Not even the Captain will come near her" Doctor Mackler's face showed her determination. She looked like she would grab a phaser rifle and defend Commander Chan with her life any minute now. "Thanks Doc. Will you tell her I was here? Oh and TJ says high too." The expression on Doctor Mackler's face softened a bit. "I'll tell her Commander. Now, off you go." James thanked her again and turned around. He had almost reached the doors when a though hit him like a sledge hammer. He turned around again. "Oh Doc, one more thing. Could you or Doctor Johnson have another look at the Captain? He's really spaced-out you know."
<TAG: Doc Johnson, Doc Mackler>
A few minutes later, James re-entered the bridge and reported on Commander Chan's condition. He also imitated Doctor Mackler as best as he could when he repeated the non-visiting orders. The imitation brought the first smile of the day on TJ's tense face.

The first thing she noticed were sounds unlike the Bridge, followed by pain in the arm and a much more severe headache. She tested the arm cautiously, and was glad to know there was no breakage. Despite the headache, then, she would be able to leave wherever she was and return to the Bridge. Xin-Ling opened her eyes and tried to sit up. It hurt, but it was not acceptable to lose face. Her duty was on the Bridge. She sat with her feet dangling over the side of the bed.
"And just where do you think you're going?" said an RN as she hurried to Xin-Ling's biobed to keep her from getting up. "You're supposed to be at complete bedrest, at least for the next 24 hours."
"I can rest on Bridge," the Asian replied as she got to her feet, trying also to convince herself as much as the nurse who confronted her.
"You can rest far better here. Now look, Commander; you've had a broken arm, a mild concussion, and assorted cuts and bruises. You're not going anywhere for at least 24 hours, Dr. Mackler's orders."
"I can move arm. It is not broken."
"Your arm was mended fifteen minutes ago, and still needs some observation, along with that concussion. Now lie down, sister!" she said, pointing to the biobed.
Xin-Ling looked straight at the RN, silently debating with herself whether to do as she was told and get back on the bed, or whether it would be better to walk out of Sickbay and report for duty.
To the side, Dr. Mackler noted the Asian officer was standing, staring at the RN, and approached the two.
"Commander, what are you doin' out of bed? You're not bein' released for duty yet, and there's no chance of it for another 24 hours."

OFF: TJ, that was the best impression of my writing I've seen. Ya got forgot one thing, Jordan says "ya" instead of "you" After sending O'Connor back to the bridge, Jordan was able to relax for a moment while she made sure that all the injured were resting well. Draco kept telling her to go back up to the bridge, that something wasn't right with the captain. She didn't look at him when she spoke but kept reading the readouts in front of her. Jordan: I know that Draco but I can't go now. For one I need to make sure that no one tries to see Xin-Ling or any of the others before they're back to full health. She heard a disagreement going on to her right. She looked up from the PADD in her hand and walked over to see Xin-Ling and an RN debating about whether she could go back to duty yet. Jordan: Commander, what are ya doin' out of bed? You're not bein' released for duty yet, and there's no chance of it for another 24 hours. Xin-Ling opened her mouth to argue but Jordan just looked at her and she closed her mouth. Jordan: I told TJ and the others that all of ya are stayin' here until I feel you're fit for duty. At this moment, since ya are strugglin' to just stand up, that is not my diagnosis. There was a call for a nurse and she left. Jordan put a hand to her brow and sighed. Jordan: I don't want to have to do something like knockin' ya out to make sure you get your rest and heal properly. So, please, stay here for just 24 hours. Then ya can go blow up as many ships as ya like. Xin-Ling smiled gently and nodded her head. She got back into bed and fell asleep. Jordan thought to herself, "The dragons at home during Threadfall were less stubborn than these people!"[/color] and went back to checking in on all the patients. However, her mind never left how the captain had been acting and how he had snapped at her like she was some cadet who had just spilled a cup of coffee on him or something. She sat down for a moment and sent a message to TJ. I know that you've noticed this and that your emotions are runnin' high right now but I need to speak with the captain, alone. We need to get him away from that viewscreen, which he seems to find more entertainin' than his cadets gettin' blown up and stolen and his ship gettin' damaged. Barbara will be with me so she can lend her opinion too in things. Commander Jordan Mackler She sent it and then sat back in her chair, closing her eyes. Jordan: Computer, locate Commander JohnsonBarbara: I'm right here sugah. Jordan leapt to her feet, her heart racing. She then smiled. Jordan: With how thin's are goin' right now, I don't know if givin' me a heart attack is the best idea. I wanted to talk to you about a request from Commander O'Connor. Have ya noticed how the captain seems to have become firmly attached to the viewscreen? <tag: Barbara>

"Acknowledged, Doctor. I'll be doin' what I can up here t' get him t' ye," said the Irishman. He closed communications with Sickbay, and looked at his superior officer – and his friend.
Captain ONE's attention was riveted to the main viewscreen, as it had been now for quite some time. From time to time, a muffled hum escaped his lips, a tune with an ethereal quality. It had a magnetic aspect that even rivaled what he thought must be the music of the Slough Sidhe of archaic Ireland.
Well, we might as well be tryin' t' get him down there as quietly as possible, he thought.
"Captain, call for ye from Sickbay; your presence is greatly required."

The ship was falling apart.
Giga was struggling to keep it going at such high warp but he had to make it back to the Hepta.
He believed that before the crew had left they had somehow sabotaged the vessel and Giga was now feeling the consequences.
*Cloak Failure. Cloak Failure.* The computer sounded.
Giga estimated 2 minutes until a Federation or Starfleet scan picked him up. They would be on the look out.
He immediately beagn trying to reactivate the cloak but the ship rocked violently as it was fired upon.
Giga was knocked off of his feet and the conduit he was working on exploded. The ship violently rocked again and Giga was forced to sit down.
When the firing paused for a moment Giga stood and accessed the engineering console. He located the impulse engines and their exausts and ejected as mucg of it as he could without it becoming dangerous. He did not want to attack them.
He next moved over to the comm and discovered that it was out. That would make things interesting, especially when he got back to the Hepta.
The ship had paused in its firing and Giga took advantage of this. He disabled the life-support, not needing this, and put all the power into the engines. The ship was now travelling at Warp 8.9, he had calculated that the maximum speed would be 9.1 before the ship imploded.
He was running out of time and plans...

OFF: First of all I want to apologize to both instructors and cadets for not having posted in a while. We don't need to get into why I've been gone, but you deserve more out of me. I'd also like to take this opportunity to point out to the cadets that everything the instructors have said about me in my absence was based on private emails with them. Posting serious things about another's character (in this case a mental incapacity) should never be done without that person's permission. However, the instructors here have demonstrated the right ways to use other characters - with permission and within the reasonable scope of the situation.
"Captain, call for ye from Sickbay; your presence is greatly required." ON: Captain ONE ignored TJ's request, as he had been ignoring just about everything. Instead he stood up and asked Science to report on the star's progress. "The star appears stable for the moment," Penfold replied, although he was most certainly perplexed by the seeming irrelevence of the captain's question. "It won't collapse for at least 3 days." "Good. Take us closer." As he said this, ONE took a step toward the viewscreen. "Let's have a look at that core, shall we?" The helmsman spun around at looked quizzically at the captain. "Sir??" He shot a glance at the first officer, who shook his head quickly. "Captain," TJ said as he moved toward ONE, "I think ye best be gettin' t' Sickbay - the Doc called for ye. I c'n handle the situation here." ONE snapped his head to look Commander Edwards in the eyes. "NO." He looked back at the screen and resumed talking to the helmsman. "I want you to put us in a close orbit, just outside the corona. Get as close as you possibly can so the sensors have a better shot. Ops, we'll need full shields. Shut down all non essential systems to conserve power for the sensors and thrusters. Tactical, we won't be needing any weapons down there, power them all down. Warp core neither." TJ opened his mouth to speak again, but ONE sensed what he was going to say and held up his and closed it, indicating for TJ to shut up. In the same harsh tone as earlier, he told him, "if someone is needed in Sickbay, then go to Sickbay!"

James looked quizically at Commander Edwards and then focused his attention to the Captain. "Sir, at this time, going closer to the star's core is highly inadvisable." James ignored Captain One's threatening look and resumed. "We have no warp power and the impulse engines are down to fifty percent. The star is highly unstable sir and although it won't collapse the next three days, it's gravitational powers vary every minute. If we go closer there's an enormous risk of being pulled in and with only half impulse power at our disposal, we will never get out."
Captain One studies James like a scientist would study germs under a microscope. It seems the Captain found everything on the Bridge highly interesting. He completely ignored O'Connor's report of the situation and repeated his former order. Blasted fool, James thought before he raised all shields at maximum, rerouting all non-essential power to the shields. Captain One took his seat in the Captain's chair, looking as happy as a child with a new toy. Only this time, James realized, the crew was his toy.
Commander Edwards came up behind James to monitor the progress on the Ops console. James said in undertone, "Commander, just keep him occupied for a few minutes. Start arguing or something, anything to keep his mind off me." TJ didn't ask questions, but turned around and renewed his attempts to talk the Captain out of his decision. Meanwhile, James signalled a message to COmmander Penfold to stand by and be ready to cut power to the Bridge. He then tapped his comm badge and silently said something into the comm.
=^=O'Connor to Cadet Odell, the Captain wants to take us to the star's core. I need a system-wide powerfailure. Commander Penfold and I will cut power to the Bridge temporarily, so you have your hands free to mess with the power grid. Make it look like an accident, but shut those engines down=^=

The vessel was losing structural integerity. There was no way of bringing the cloak back online and the engines were being pushed to the limits.
The sensors flashed. The Hepta was being picked up!
The ship rocked, he was under attack again. The sensors picked up 14 runabout class vessels firing upon him. The old crew...
He dropped out of warp and acitvated the weapons systems. He knocked out 2 runabouts before the weapons shorted out.
He carried on the direct course for the Hepta.
He hailed them.
"Cadet Giga to U.S.S. Hepta. Come i...." The ship violently rocked and some of the ship was opened to space.
"CADET GIGA TO HEPTA!" He yelled over the noise.
Commander Edwards appeared on the screen.
=^= =^= Giga could not hear anything of what the Commander was saying.
He checked the sensors and saw the Hepta was heading staright for the Super Nova.
"HEPTA I AM LOSING POWER AND STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY - I AM PREPARING FOR AN EMERGENCY TRANSPORT!" Giga called.
=^= =^= Again Giga could hear none of the response.
He activated the transport start up sequence just as one of the runabouts bore down on him.
The ship was destroyed.
On the Hepta a gasp of suprise went around the Bridge.
"Cadet. Cadet Come in Cadet Giga." Edwards said.
The viewscreen flickered on and the debris of the ship floated past the Hepta.
"Scan the reckage!" Edwards said.

Penfold found it hard to follow what was happening on the bridge. There seemed to be a variety of signals passing between people and the Captain was behaving most oddly. The furry little CScO had enough on his mind without worrying about which orders he should follow and which ones he shouldn't. He ran a quick analysis of the star's stability to make sure they would be in no immediate danger as a result of all this confusion. He was sure they still had 3 days before the nova could properly commence.
James O'Connor signalled a message to Commander Penfold to stand by and be ready to cut power to the Bridge. Following the Ops Manager's train of thought, Penfold began securing life-support systems in preparation for the redistribution of all primary power. All major stations would lose power along with the doors, internal transporters and communications. It was up to James to make it look like an accident and hopefully make it seem linked to the failure of the rest of the power grid. He waited for the signal from O'Connor.
Suddenly, Cadet Giga's ship warped in nearby. A garbled communication came in, sounding quite urgent, but Cmdr Edwards was unable to make any sense of it. The ship lasted a few minutes before its structural integrity collapsed and the ship vaporised in a silent explosion. Chunks of debris flew harmlessly by the Hepta's hull, but attention was currently being understandably focused on the apparent loss of young Giga. Penfold turned a shocked face to Commander O'Connor, wondering if their plan to cut power was still appropriate under the circumstances. A look at Commander Edwards did little to clear up his confusion... at first. "Scan the reckage!" Edwards said after a few seconds. Penfold did so quickly, but could find nothing promising amongst the debris. The fact that Giga's life-signs were totally unlike those expected from an organic officer meant he would be difficult to locate if he was there. It was the look on Captain ONE's face that really sent a chill through him though. There was no emotion, no concern, no response of any kind to be found in that expression.
Penfold kept continuous scans of the debris field and beyond running in the hope that Giga had managed to survive somehow.

James was as shocked as anyone. First they obducted him and now he was certainly dead, or critically malfunctioning or.....well, whatever you call a state of being in smithereens for an android. James had lost people before, even a few Cadets over the years of serving in the regular fleet, but it never made it any easier. Commander Edwards gave the order to scan the wreckage and all with access to a sensor array frantically started scanning, without much hope........
TJ sank back in his chair, a mixture of pain, grief and extreme anger contorting his face. No-one dared approach him now. The Bridge crew was silent, silently going about their business. Suddenly the call came.
=^=Transporter Room to Bridge=^=
=^=O'Connor here, go ahead Lieutenant=^=
=^=Sir, we have Cadet Giga=^=
Everyone held their breath. No-one knew what to say or how to respond. Lieutenant trax's voice came again over the comm.
=^=Sir?=^=
James snapped out of it.
=^=Come again Lieutenant=^=
=^=Sir, we've beamed Cadet Giga out just before the explosion. Engineering detected his presence when the shields failed and we were able to get him out right before the ship blew up. We didn't have time to notify the Bridge prior to beaming. The Cadet looks desoriented but otherwise undamaged. I've erected a forcefield around the transporter pad but there's no indication that he wants to break out.=^=
James looked at Commanders Edwards and Penfold. This was as shocking as it was amazing. James turned his attention to Lieutenant Trax again.
=^=Good work Lieutenant, keep him there. O'Connor out.=^=
James immediately tapped a few buttons. "Security to Transporter Room 1. Escort Cadet Giga to Engineering and under no circumstances lose him out of sight. Stay there until Engineering clears him from all criminal intents." James was still getting confirmations from Security, while he already moved on to informing Engineering. "Commander Stephans, Cadet Odell, Security is bringing in Cadet Giga. Do a level one diagnostic on him and see if his programming has been altered in any way. When you've cleared him and are sure that he poses no threat to the ship or crew, you can dismiss Security. Keep me informed. O'Connor out."
<TAG: Lydia Odell, Jessica Stephans, Giga, Anyone>
The Bridge crew slowly started realising that their Cadet was still alive, or to put it more accurately, functioning within normal parameters. TJ's face slowly relaxed.

Just before Giga could beam himself off the vessel the whir of the transporters sounded and Giga was transported to the Hepta.
He was confused - as much as an android could be.
"Cadet. Are you alright?" A Lieutenant asked.
Giga briefly ran a scan of his main systems.
"Yes. I am functioning within normal parameters." He replied. "However, I am missing my left hand and a small part of my cranium due to the explosion."
The Lieutenant looked at his hand and Giga detected an obvious discomfort and increase in pulse rate.
"I am an android, no pain has been caused." Giga said.
The Lieutenant smiled. "I am just going to conact the bridge.
Giga cocked his head slightly.
"I assure you there is no need for the forcefield." He said.
"Just a safety precaution. You understand." The Lieutenant asked.
A security team entered the transporter room and Giga was freed from the forcefield. The security guards moved next to the Cadet.
"Are you ready to leave Cadet?" One asked.
Giga nodded.
They left the transporter room and felt the ship rock violently.
"Are we still under attack from the runabouts?" Giga asked.
They didnt reply. He assumed they were as the ship violently rocked again. The sooner he was cleared as a non-threat he could get back on the bridge and help his crewmates.

Thanks so much for covering for me guys 'n' gals. I've been unable to access the internet due to real life issues over the past few days. You've done admirably, all of you, instructors and cadets alike.
As the news slowly sunk in that Cadet Giga had been recovered, the tension TJ was experiencing was somewhat relieved. Now his attention could turn to the Captain's strange behavior. He wanted to avoid a confrontation if possible, and needed to at least occupy his attention while James and Penfold were doing what they were doing.
"Beggin' your pardon, sir, but 'tis you who the good doctor was requestin' in Sickbay. Had she been wantin' me down there, she would have asked for me, sir."
ONE turned to stare at the First Officer. Obviously, he was not pleased.
"'Tis your expertise they're seekin' down in Sickbay, I'm sure, an' nothin' I could tell them would meet their needs. 'Tis you they're callin' for, sir."

"I do not care what the problem is, Commander - GO and take care of it! NOW!" ONE turned back towards the viewscreen and took a deep breath. He leaned over to whisper into the helm officer's ear. "We're not moving, Engsign. I told you to take us in closer, and I expect my orders to be followed."
The ensign was mightily creeped out by the captain, and could tell that something was wrong. On the other hand, ONE was his commanding officer, and he was obligated to obey orders. That, and he was scared what this deranged Borg might do to him if he didn't comply.
So the ship started moving, slowly but surely, closer to the star...

Suddenly, alarm lights started flashing and the red alert sirene startled everyone. "Report" TJ bellowed as the ship started rocking. James took a brief look at his console. "Systems failure Commander, recommend shutdown immediately." Captain One looked at him. "Go on, stay on course and maintain speed." James shot him an angry glance. "Captain, we're experiencing a complete systems failure. If we don't reroute engine power to life support, we might lose life support altogether." Captain One continued in his annoyingly relaxed and deranged tone. "Maintain course and speed." The Bridge crew was close to desparation, but suddenly Chief Engineering Officer Stephans called over the comm.
=^=Engineering to Bridge. We're having a core overload, what the hell are you guys doing up there. If we don't stop now I'm going to eject the core, which might be the only way to contain the breach anyway.=^=
TJ responded immediately and took charge of the situation. "All stop. Reroute all power to life support. Damage control teams, report to Engineering and see what you can do about the core. Jessica, if you can't stop the core from breaching, eject it!" Captain One looked as if he might protest, but he decided against it. He would have his chance.
The USS Hepta slowed down and came to a full stop. As yet, they were safely out of range of the star's gravity field.

Giga and his 'companions' arrived in Engineering to find chaos.
Cadet Odell ran over to Giga.
"What is the matter Odell?" Giga asked.
<TAG Odell>
"I see. Well then you better begin the scan so I can assist down here. I am programmed with many Engineering functions as well as tactical and navigation alongside with the obvious Science." Giga stated.
<TAG Odell>
"Let us begin then." Giga said.
<TAG Odell>
The scan took 10 minutes and Odell was pleased to report to the bridge that Giga was functioning normally and could return to duty.
<TAG Odell and Bridge>
Commander Edwards dismmissed the security officers and ordered Giga to give a hand down in Engineering.
"Aknowledged Commander" Giga replied.
"Where do you need me?" Giga asked.

Now that the progress of the ship's path once more toward the nascent nova had been stopped, at least for a time, TJ could attempt to get the captain to Sickbay, as per Dr. Mackler's request.
In the past few moments since approaching the star, the captain's behavior was not as he was normally. He did not like what he was considering doing, but for the safety of the Hepta and its crew, as well as that of the captain, who was now exhibiting erratic behavior in his fixation with the dying star, he may have to. But he had better be right. It was possible that such behavior might be looked upon unfavorably, perhaps even to the point of being even – dare he say it? – mutinous!
Since the ship was now at least momentarily secured from its suicidal flight, TJ turned to the captain and cleared his throat nervously. This was the moment for action on this issue.
"Captain ONE, I will be askin' ye once more. Will ye be accompanyin' me t' Sickbay, as per th' doctor's request?"

The Bridge crew was shaken after the imminent warp core breach, but when James looked up, he saw Penfold winking and a message started flickering on his console:
Relax. Everything is fine. Engineering nicely played along. Let's hope the "breach" will fool the Captain long enough to regain his senses - Penfold
James nodded in Penfold's direction. He got the message. The trick was a succes. In the mean time, TJ had resumed his efforts to get Captain One to Sickbay.
TJ's voice contained a hint of a threat. Just a small hint, but the Bridge crew picked it up. What would happen if the Captain refused? Would TJ relieve him of his command? Or would the Captain relieve him of his command? Would Doctor Mackler or Doctor Jordan have to intervene and pull rank on the Captain? WOuld Security be needed? Involuntarily, James moved his fingers closer to the alarm button. It all depended on Captain One's reaction now.

Captain ONE stared at Commander Edwards, who didn't show any signs of backing down. ONE considered the bridge situation and the ship's status. After about 20 extruciatingly long seconds, ONE tapped his combadge. "ONE to Sickbay. I'm on my way." He tapped his combadge again and continued to stare at Edwards. "I think you best be getting down to Engineering to help fix that warp core."
"Beggin' yer pardon, cap'n, but I'd rather accompany ye to Sickbay." As Edwards said this, ONE sat in his chair and tapped a few buttons. Edwards shimmered off the bridge, appearing right in the middle of Engineering.
ONE turned to the Science Station as he headed for the turbolift. "Commander Penfold, you have the bridge. Keep me updated on the status of that star if anything, I repeat, anything happens."
-- 5 minutes later -- "Sickbay to the bridge," Penfold heard on the bridge. "Where's the Captain? Wasn't he on his way??"
Pefold shot a glance towards Ops. "The Captain's Yacht sir," Commander O'Connor said, "it's being launched..."

OFF: Trying to get this wrapped up as much as possible without going too far. I apologize if I overstepped my bounds.
Jordan was starting to get really irritated with that ex-borg that was the captain of this ship. He had said he would be down to sickbay and he still wasn't here. She sent a message up to the bridge.
Jordan:=Mackler to Bridge= Where's the Captain? Wasn't he on his way?
What she heard next made her even more furious. The captain's vessel was leaving?!
Jordan: Just a suggestion but I think ya should put his ship dead in the water. If he can't go anywhere he can't get himself into more trouble.
She then disconnected the com link and thought about the captain's actions. He was acting like he was under a spell. But if it was a spell how come the rest of the crew wasn't affected by it? Somehow this all seemed familiar in a way. Then she knew and ran up to the bridge. She came out on the bridge a minute later out of breath.
Jordan: TJ, ya need to stop him. He's goin' to kill himself. I can explain after ya render his ship motionless.
TJ wasn't sure what to do. Jordan sounded so sure of what she was talking about so he gave the order.
TJ: O'Connor, take out his engines on my mark. Now.
They fired on the craft's engines and they were disabled. A tractor beam was sent out and brought him back.
TJ:Put a forcefield around the bay and under no circumstances let the captain leave.
Jordan was back to normal breathing rate and approached TJ.
Jordan: I need to speak with ya alone.
TJ escorted her to the ready room and the door closed behind them.
Jordan: I think the captain has been subject to a siren song.
TJ: What?
Jordan: Somehow, an electrical version of a siren's song has been transmitted to the captain and he became subject to it. I think it's comin' from the sun. It would explain why he's so attracted to it.
TJ: You mean siren as in the kind that Odysseus came across while making his way home? The way he's been acting certainly seems to correspond with that hypothesis. I think you're right. The question is, how do we break the spell?
Jordan: I don't know. I'll go down to sickbay and see what I can come up with. Perhaps ya can do the same by trackin' down the frequency of the signal. Now that Giga's back, he could help with that.
TJ nodded and they left. Jordan went back down to sickbay and checked on the patients. She was checking on Xin-Ling when she noticed that Draco was missing. She searched for him mentally and suddenly felt a burst of pain in her mind. She winced hard and fell to her knees. Draco was being hurt. Xin-Ling woke up and helped her while nurses also rushed over to help.
Xin-Ling: Computer, activate EMH.
The EMH appeared and it was a woman.
EMH: Please state the nature of the medical emergency.
She rushed to Jordan's help and got her standing back up. Draco appeared on the biobed in front of Jordan and Jordan gasped. Draco's wing was broken and he was bleeding. Draco managed to communicate to Jordan that he had gone to check on the captain and had been attacked by him. Fury coarsed through Jordan. She pushed past the others and ran down to the bay. ONE was looking around in the air. There were guards outside. ONE spotted her and looked at her. Jordan was pulled up short when she saw the look in his eyes and realized that it wasn't his fault for what he had done.
Jordan: Captain, I have come down here to say that I am now relievin' ya of duty. Ya have been actin' out of character for a long while now and I feel ya are not fit to command this vessel in your present mental condition. I also came to say that ya hurt me deeply sir with your action against Draco.
ONE: Stupid pest wouldn't leave me alone.
Jordan's eyes flashed but she held her tongue. She stormed off and went back to sickbay. She saw the EMH taking care of Draco. Jordan's anger vanished and she approached. She looked at Draco and saw everything was bandaged up perfectly.
Jordan: How did ya do this?
EMH: I accesed your files and researched fire lizard biology. I then fixed him up. May I ask what made you react so to his injuries?
Jordan: Draco and I are mentally linked to each other. Whatever emotions or pain he feels, I feel and vice versa.
EMH: You going to be ok?
Jordan: As long as I don't have to look at the captain's face for a while I will. Since it's just ya I'm talkin' to, I can just call him by his name, ONE.
The hologram was surprised.
EMH: ONE? He's the one who hurt him?
Jordan: You know him?
She nodded.
EMH: I was the EMH on the last ship he served on. He and I kind of...
She then blushed.
Jordan: What's your name?
EMH: Holi.

Siren's song, is it now? TJ thought as he made his way through the corridors. Such an hypothesis, while a bit unorthodox, tended to pull all the lose ends together. TJ liked it.
Entering the Bridge, he turned attention to Commander O'Connor.
"James, me lad..." Commander O'Connor was surprised at the unofficial tone of TJ's voice.
"Sir?"
"Might I be requestin' ye t' run a comparison from the library banks on th' ancient sirens o' Homeric history an' their call, around the 13th century BC? Cross-reference t' see if a similar call might be th' information in that band that's tellin' us it's empty, an' that's ridin' on th' back o' th' radio signals from th' star."
