John had listened to Cooper’s strategy, John saw a lot of promise in Cooper he displayed the innovative mind of an Engineer he was going to enjoy working with him. Once Cooper had finished speaking, Cadet Loni spoke up:
“What if some of the fragments are still too large? What then?” Loni asked
John was pleased someone had asked the question, to John you needed people who asked questions and why they were doing something. It was that kind of self-determination that John found to be an admirable trait in one so young. Cooper responded like a firecracker, he obviously had the answer prepared as he raised his voice.
“None of the pieces could be too large for the 2 saber class starships to handle, The asteroid is relatively small now at only half a kilometer in diameter once it has been broken up the remaining fragments that pose a danger to the station will be small enough to handle I have done the calculations three times” Cooper responded, John stood aside as Cooper plugged in his PADD and began a computer animation onscreen…
“as you can see this fragment is only 200 meters wide which is small enough to destroy with quantum torpedoes or to push out of the way with a tractor beam I know this is only a computer generated outcome and we have no way of knowing what sizes the fragments will be in but any size smaller than 350 meters in diameter can be destroyed or pushed out of the way by tractor beams and after 70 percent of the asteroid has been vaporized it is about on hundred thousand too one chance there will be a fragment over 350 diameters wide”
Once Cooper had finished, John decided to ask a ‘what if…’ of his own. “ Okay I want 1 saber class prepped to leave, we are going to need samples of the asteroid. I don’t want to be blowing it up and causing some sort of reaction with the internal compounds of the asteroid. I’m going to need volunteers to join me on the saber class vessel.”
John turned to look around the room for volunteers…

Cooper had finished explaining the situation and when he had sat back down Commander McFarland started to speak.
“Okay I want 1 saber class prepped to leave, we are going to need samples of the asteroid. I don’t want to be blowing it up and causing some sort of reacting with the internal compounds of the asteroid. I’m going to need volunteers to join me on the saber class vessel.” Cooper liked the idea of an away mission he spoke up right away. “Request permission to join the away team sir”
Cooper looked at Commander McFarland as he thought about his answer

Loni listened to what Cadet Cooper had to say and noted the tone of his voice. She rose from her seat and began heading for the doors to spend the rest of the mission in sickbay caring for the injured which she was sure would flood if they didn't stop the asteroid.
Loni was at the door of the observation lounge when Commander McFarland spoke up asking for volunteers to join him on an away mission. Her hand rested on the handle when Cadet Cooper spoke up. “Request permission to join the away team sir”. She glanced first at Cadet Cooper and then at the Commander before turning back to the door.
Loni pondered, pausing at the door. If she joined would Cadet Cooper continue to shoot down her questions or could they learn to work together. She wasn't asking them to be a bother but rather to cover all the bases. She had been like this as a child, always questioning everything, that was the scientist in her. Or should she continue on her trek to sickbay and do what she'd been trained to do, care for the sick and injured.

“Request permission to join the away team sir” Cooper said enthusiastically, John pondered to himself for a few moments. Just then he noticed Cadet Grebs head for the door, John ushered her back.
“Going somewhere Cadet, you are both on the team but under the authority of 2 officers. John pointed to a couple of officers who had also volunteered.” The officers smiled, obviously they were pleased to have been chosen.
John stopped at the front of the room, “There is just one thing I need to do first.”
John said as he tapped his Comm badge. “Computer patch me through to Captain Edwards and Polly Edwards” The computer beeped to aknowledge that the comm. had been set up.
=^= Captain Edwards and Polly, its John here. Where are you? We have a base wide emergency. I need both of your assistance in the Observation Lounge. =^= John said with some concern, he had wondered where the Edward’s were.
John turned quickly and caught a glimpse of the timer: “4 hours 39 minutes and 12 seconds until collision.”

Angel came into the room looking a little disgruntled. She sighed wondering exactly what was going on.
"Sorry I'm late, have you any idea what its like to find a babysitter at this hour? I've had better luck looking for dark matter," she said and spying John McFarland she walked over asking him what was going on. He explained rather quickly bring her up to speed.
"Wow, this isn't good. Sounds like you have it under control though. I'll see what I can do about helping to clear some of the lower decks. Keep me posted on what you discover," she said and was about to leave when a Cait approched her saying something about the cadets being in this situation.
"Well this is the life of a Starfleet, you have to sink or swim when presented with problems no matter what your rank is. They seem to be doing just fine. I suggest you get to sickbay and see how you can help them," Angel said deciding perhaps she should stick around for a few more minutes knowing that an announcement would just give panick to those that lived on the base when a thought came to her. She returned walking back over to where John was.
"Excuse me, where did you say that hunk of rock will hit this base?" she asked thinking he hadn't mentioned it.

She turned back to the room but didn't venture far from the door when Cmdr. McFarland waved her back. "Going somewhere Cadet, you are both on the team but under the authority of 2 officers." Her heart almost skipped a beat, Guess we're working together she thought as she glanced at Cadet Cooper. "Yes Sir." she said quietly as she rejoined the group in the room.

Cooper had just finished asking for permission to join the away team when he noticed Cadet Loni Grebs head for the door.
“Going somewhere Cadet, you are both on the team but under the authority of 2 officers.” Commander McFarland had said to Grebs and Cooper Cooper heart skipped a beat as he heard McFarland say this Cooper had expected to be told to stay on the station due to the fact he was only a cadet. Grebs then turned around and looked directly at Cooper then said “Yes Sir” Cooper had noticed the look on Grebs face and thought ‘I hope I have not offended her I must apologize when I get the chance’ Grebs turned back and rejoined the Group.
“There is just one thing I need to do first.” John said as he tapped his Comm. badge. “Computer patch me through to Captain Edwards and Polly Edwards” The Computer then beeped to show the connection had been made =^= Captain Edwards and Polly, its John here. Where are you? We have a base wide emergency. I need both of your assistance in the Observation Lounge. =^= Commander McFarland’s voice showed a hint of concern and that caused Cooper to worry a little. Cooper then turned to cadet Grebs and said. “I am sorry for loosing my patients earlier I hope you don’t take it personally I look forward to working with you on the away mission”. Cooper had made sure he had said sorry before the away mission had started because he did not want Grebs to stop asking questions or coming up with ideas because he could tell she was an extremely intelligent person and it may be one of her ideas that saves the day. <Tag Grebs>

Loni rejoined the group somewhat reluctantly but turned to Cadet Cooper when he spoke. “I am sorry for loosing my patients earlier I hope you don’t take it personally I look forward to working with you on the away mission”. She smiled slightly. "I used to drive my parents crazy with non-stop questions. I'll try to curb my enthusiasm." She was nervous, could almost cut the tension in the room with a knife as their away party grew in number. Nobody was safe today, this imminent threat had to be taken care of and it was up to the cadets, or so it looked that way.

K'ratak: Was watching the conversation and becoming very inpressed with Cadet Grebs. She was showing signs of command ability. She was covering all her bases asking questions and then asking them again. The same thing a captain would do he was also starting to like Cadet cooper for showing the ability to think outside the box.
Looking over at Macfarland " Well if your going to be puting holes in the dam thing I might as well go along. I'm a tatical officer by training which means I do know how make a precision shot. Although I would like to see Cadet Grebs be the one that does it. I would be more then happy to walk her through on our way to the rock" <Tag Macfarland or anybody"

Loni stopped short when she heard Cmdr. K'ratak speak, one she had yet to meet. " Well if your going to be putting holes in the dam thing I might as well go along. I'm a tactical officer by training which means I do know how make a precision shot. Although I would like to see Cadet Grebs be the one that does it. I would be more then happy to walk her through on our way to the rock" He wanted her to shoot down the asteroid.
Loni moved forward again and stopped next to Cadet Cooper before speaking to the Commander. “You’re going to teach me to shoot that hunk of rock out of the sky? On the fly … Sir?” She couldn’t help but smile a little. How she did enjoy challenges. After a short pause she continued. “I’d be honored if you would Sir.”
Loni turned towards Cooper. “Are you sure this is going to work?” If she was going to be the one with her finger on that button she wanted to make sure.

Cooper turned towards her and said. “You can never be completely sure if something is going to work” Cooper then grinned at her mischievously and whispered “Just make sure you shoot straight” Cooper winked at her before turning back to Commander McFarland.

=^= Captain Edwards and Polly, its John here. Where are you? We have a base wide emergency. I need both of your assistance in the Observation Lounge. =^= John said with some concern, he had wondered where the Edward’s were.
Polly had just answered the door, letting a wheelchair bound officer in who claimed he was a godfather to one of the children she was minding. Before she could ask him to prove his claim, the oldest of the children raced forward and flung her arms around the man's neck, crying "Uncle Noah!" Soon, she was followed by a second child and both were pulling the man in. What more proof would she need?
She tapped her combadge. "What emergency Commander?" she answered, "we were not informed of any emergency?" She listened patiently as the commander explained the situation. "I'll wake Thomas, we're on our way," she promised, then cast Bates a pleading look. "Would you be able to mind them? I'd not put them in harm's way, I promised their mother."
(Bates)
While the officer watched over the five children, Polly entered the bedchamber she shared with her husband. She found TJ still sound asleep, his arms wrapped around his pillow, one foot sticking out from under the blanket. Stiffling a smile, she walked around the bed, then sat down beside him. "Thomas, wake up. We've got a station emergency and our presence is required." She gave him a mild prod, but the only response she got was a blind swat by his hand and a grunt.
She shook him a little harder. "Captain Edwards, report!" she finally said, raising her voice. This time, he bolted upright looking down at her in bewilderment. "That's better," she smiled as she tossed him his uniform. "I'll get you your tea and a sandwich, while you get dressed. We've got to get to the observation lounge, there's some sort of emergency and we only just got told."
(TJ)
Some time later, the Edwards couple arrived at the lounge and walked up to McFarland. "What's going on?" Polly demanded, glancing from instructors to the gathered cadets. TJ seemed to echo her sentiment, for once and demanded the same. "And why were we informed so late?"

Simon was happy to see most of the cadets were working hard to stop a disaster happening and was also glad that another instructor would be on the away mission, Simon had absolute faith in John’s abilities but John does not have five eyes to watch the cadets and the rock and anything else that decides to turn up. ‘it’s not like the Borg are going to show up or the Dominion’ shuddering at the thought of either force bearing down on the station Simon was about to leave for the main sickbay to ensure the preparations were almost ready when he noticed a couple enter the observation lounge. Simon walked over and saw four gold pips on the man’s collar. "What's going on?" Polly demanded, glancing from instructors to the gathered cadets. TJ seemed to echo her sentiment, for once and demanded the same. "And why were we informed so late?" Simon quickly responded as John seemed to be busy dealing with a cadet to have noticed the pair’s arrival. “Captain Edward, Mrs Edwards” nodding to both as he named them “We presently seem to have a asteroid heading towards the starbase, the cadets and other officers have devised a way of dealing with it by using antimatter, though the finer points of this plan elude me, they are curtain that this plan will work. But they are still planning a evacuation in case the worse should happen.” looking at the worried and confused faces he added “Oh I am Commander Barnes, you new Chief Medical officer, and answering you second question there was a general communication but maybe you missed it” Simon smiled at his own joke. <Tag Polly/TJ> Quickly turning to John, Simon tapped him on the back to remind him that a senior officer was standing right behind him. “Well if you will excuse me I must return to sickbay before the doctors start panicking again, I swear they are acting like the Borg and the Dominion are both about to attack at the same time” shacking his head he made his way back to main sickbay. <Tag Edwards/John> Arriving back at sickbay he noticed they seemed quite busy but calm, which made him feel a little better. “What is our status?” he asked the doctor nearest to him, “Well sir, this sickbay is fully up and running and we have two back up power units here just in case we lose power. We have brought 2 of the additional sickbays online but the last one seems to have been missed during the last repair sweep because half the systems there are none functional” Simon looked at the doctor in horror “Which deck is it on?” the doctor brought up a schematic of the base and showed him “It is on deck 123, Sickbay delta, the labs down there are working fine it is just the actual sickbay and triage centre, neither of them have been in use for almost 4 months now, and obviously some of the core medical systems have become damaged in this time, sir” Simon nodded and turned away from the doctor. Simon knew what was needed, tapping his comm. badge as he left sickbay “Maintance, this is a priority repair request, I need the sickbay and triage centre on deck 123, that is deck one two three repaired and brought operational in 2 hours or there will be hell to pay” Simon entered the turbo lift “Deck 123” as the lift began to drop he heard a response =/\= Please confirm your rank and identity so we can verify this request =/\= Simon realised he had been is such a rush he had forgotten to tell them who he was, “I am Commander Simon Barnes, Chief Medical Officer of the USS Hepta and senior Medical officer aboard at present.” a few moments past before he got a response =/\= This is maintance we will have a repair crew down there as soon as we can, but it may not be possible to bring it online in time =/\= Shacking his head Simon replied “It will have to do” cutting the comm. Simon walked out of the turbo lift and towards the sickbay. When he arrived he saw a few doctors trying their best to get things ready with the biobeds operational or other key systems. Suddenly a thought came to his mind, hitting his comm. badge again he asked for a general communication “This is Commander Barnes, I need any engineers not presently busy with the planning for the defence of this station to help with the repairs of the Sickbay on Deck 123, thank you” cutting the comm., Simon picked up a Padd and sent a message to John. -MESSAGE BEGIN- JOHN, I NEED ANY ENGINEERS YOU CAN SPARE TO HELP REPAIR THE SICKBAY DOWN ON DECK 123 AS IT HAS BEEN LEFT INACTIVE TO LONG AND A FEW SYSTEMS HAVE GONE HAY WIRE. IF WE LOSE THIS ONE, DECKS 90 THOUGH TO 130 ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE THEIR OWN SICKBAY AND I MUST DROP THE COVERAGE TO ONLY 18%. THANKS-MESSAGE END-<Tag John/anyone who want to help get this sickbay online> Quickly checking in with gamma to see how its preparations were going he opened a comm. to sickbay beta. “This is Doctor Barnes what is the status of sickbay beta? <Tag Harry> (OOC sorry for the essay, i seem to be in a 'write like hell' mood again )

Loni had just asked Cadet Cooper “Are you sure this is going to work?” and broke out in a smile at his reply. “Just make sure you shoot straight.” She shook her head as their group was joined by two others who seemed not to know about the danger the starbase was in.
"Of course I can shoot straight, I was born with a phaser in my hand." she joked but then turned serious. "I realize there is no way to know if this will work until we actually are out there but how sure are you of your idea?" She glanced then at the Commander who wanted her to man the fire button and shrugged.
Loni thought to herself I wonder what he sees in me. Her parents used to do the same thing. Give her almost impossible assignments and amazingly she'd manage to get them done without the trouble she initially thought she might have. Somehow they knew she was able to do most anything put in front of her.

Harry had been working hard to get sickbay Beta up and running and the EMH was not making his job any easier. “I am a doctor not an orderly” He stated after Harry asked him to prepare hyposprays for emergency use. “We are short on orderlies today you will have to be both for now” Harry replied to the EMH’s sarcastic comment. The sickbay had been filling with minor cases for the last 45 minutes most of them minor bumps and bruises the most critical that had come in was a broken arm. ‘The crew certainly is beginning to get panicked’ Harry thought Harry was about to enter the doctor’s office when his commbadge beeped.
“This is Doctor Barnes what is the status of sickbay beta?” The question came from the senior doctor on the station.
“This is Cadet Schmidt here sickbay Beta is up and running we have had no major incidents yet most of the injuries seem to be minor cuts and bruises I will contact you with an update every 15 minutes"
<Tag Dr. Barnes>
"Yes sir Schmidt out" Harry replied.
Harry turned around and looked at he sickbay staff go about there jobs and Harry said. “Okay people good works so far let’s keep it up” Harry walked over to the closest Bio-bed with a patient lying on it. Harry pulled out his medical tricorder and said to the Ensign “Let’s see what we can do for you”.

Already making arrangements with one of the ships for the team to use. Looking back every once in awhile at the cadets. Hell what a way to start there first mission having to save the base before they even get to there training ship. Well at least they'll be a step ahead of the other Cadets.
Still he was impressed by them all for there thinking and willingness to step up and take a chance. Thats what star fleet needs people willing to step up and take a chance looking back at the cadets.
"Cadet Cooper start making arrangements to get what you need transported over to the ship. Also whatch your safety Protocal as well there not to happy about what you want to bring aboard." <Tag Cooper> Looking back at Cadet Grebs " By the way what postion did you sign up for if I might ask" <Tag Grebs>
Looking around and speaking up " It might not be a bad Idea to have a medical cadet along as well. If something should go wrong I'm sure the medical chief wouldn't mind the extra help" <Tag anybody>

(OOC: Not ignoring the emergency, but I'm also not Station staff, so it's not really my place just to jump in. And it's not why I'm here anyway)
"Would you be able to mind them? I'd not put them in harm's way, I promised their mother," she asked, looking somewhat desperate.
He smiled. "I would be delighted, ma'am," he said, while his chair was being twisted back and forth. Kahlan and Yarna were trying their best to pull his chair further into the room by pulling on the wheels. As Mrs. Edwards retreated back into the master bedroom, he looked down. "Okay, girls, I can take it from here."
He pushed himself a little further into the room, and turned around. He looked down at the girls. "My, you two have grown since I've been gone. How old are you now, Kahlan?"
"Six," she replied very proudly.
"Wow, you've gotten so big! And how old are you, Yarna?" he asked, turning to the younger girl. She held up four fingers. "You're four?" She nodded. He smiled. Of course he knew full well how old the children were.
He heard the concerned voices of the Edwards' coming from the bedroom. "Computer, what is the nature of the station emergency?"
"An asteroid on a direct collision course with the starbase," was the Computer's monotonic reply.
"What are you going to do, Uncle Noah?" Kahlan asked, looking a little worried. The kid was old enough to realize what was going on.
He put on his best godfatherly smile. "Why, I'm going to stay here and play with all of you, of course. I came all this way just to see you, after all. And I promised Mrs. Edwards," he said, glancing towards their bedroom again. "Is she a nice lady?" he asked. Kahlan nodded vigorously. "Good," he said. A moment later, the Edwards' emerged from the bedroom, and headed out the door. "Let me know if you need me, Captain!" he called to TJ just before he stepped out the door.
Noah then turned his attention to the large playpen in the room occupied by three little persons he especially wanted to see. He easily identified his precious little godson, Jayvee. The growth hormone therapy Jayvee and Kyala had apparently not had long enough yet, as they were still noticably smaller than Jeisen. Noah rolled himself over to Jayvee, who was supporting himself on the rail of the playpen. "Hello little Jayvee," Noah said, smiling.
Jayvee looked uncertain at Noah, and dropped back on his rear. He looked as if he would cry. "Oh, don't cry my boy," Noah said, as he reached down and picked him up. As he set Jayvee down on his lap, he actually did start crying. Noah held him close and rubbed his back. "Don't cry, my Jayvee, don't cry."

Commander Angel Reynolds entered the room as John was prepping the away team personnel. Angel was the Base’s XO so John stepped aside and briefed her on what was happening. Angel asked: "Excuse me, where did you say that hunk of rock will hit this base?"
“Well we plan on destroying it using some of the base’s antimatter and firing on the asteroid once the antimatter is in its center. We should destroy 70% of the asteroid but the remain pieces will splinter and we will then have to destroy the ones on course for the base. However, any rogue pieces could hit any deck, so preparations are under way to shore up the base. Sir” John answered.

As he had finished talking with Commander Reynolds, K’ratak turned to John. “Well if your going to be puting holes in the dam thing I might as well go along. I'm a tatical officer by training which means I do know how make a precision shot. Although I would like to see Cadet Grebs be the one that does it. I would be more then happy to walk her through on our way to the rock"
John nodded and smiled. “I’m glad to have you on the mission Commander, I am sure your knowledge and experience will be invaluable. If you could co-ordinate the team, I would be most grateful” K’ratak agreed to co-ordinate the team, John was unsure if he himself would go along.
John was finishing talking when behind him he heard the Edward’s enter. "What's going on?" asked Polly "And why were we informed so late?" added Captain Edwards. John heard Simon explaining the situation to them so John continued in his calculations there was a lot to do, as he felt a tap on the shoulder, it was Simon “Well if you will excuse me I must return to sickbay before the doctors start panicking again, I swear they are acting like the Borg and the Dominion are both about to attack at the same time” John was pleased to see his friend and co-worker and the slightly bewildered looking Captain Edwards and Polly.
“Captain and Mrs Edwards, my apologies for the station wide comm. not reaching you. We have been co-ordinating operations from here, if you would like to assume command of the situation I will gladly step aside.”
(Tag TJ/Polly)
As John looked at his PADD he received a message from Simon: JOHN, I NEED ANY ENGINEERS YOU CAN SPARE TO HELP REPAIR THE SICKBAY DOWN ON DECK 123 AS IT HAS BEEN LEFT INACTIVE TO LONG AND A FEW SYSTEMS HAVE GONE HAY WIRE. IF WE LOSE THIS ONE, DECKS 90 THOUGH TO 130 ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE THEIR OWN SICKBAY AND I MUST DROP THE COVERAGE TO ONLY 18%. THANKS-MESSAGE END-
John paused for a moment, “Cooper, Lt. Reyes with me we need to assist Doctor Barnes in Sickbay down on deck 123. We need to get it operational, and fix the power systems so that area of the base has a sickbay. Commander K’ratak can you inform me when the ships are prepped and the away team is to leave and myself and Cooper shall join you.” As John, Lt Reyes and Cadet Cooper left the Observation Lounge heading for deck 123.

"Of course I can shoot straight; I was born with a phaser in my hand." Loni Grebs had replied to Cooper’s joke her voice then turned serious. "I realize there is no way to know if this will work until we actually are out there but how sure are you of your idea?" Cooper looked and said with all the confidence as he could muster.
“I am as sure as I can be” Cooper could sense she was nervous about her pivotal role on the coming away mission, Cooper then put his hand on Loni’s shoulder and said sympathetically “Don’t worry we will be fine”.
<Tag Grebs> Cooper then went back to his calculations he was so engrossed in his work he did not notice the Edward’s enter the room. After a while Commander K’ratak caught his attention by addressing him.
"Cadet Cooper start making arrangements to get what you need transported over to the ship. Also watch your safety Protocol as well there not to happy about what you want to bring aboard." Cooper looked up from his work and replied. “Yes sir I will have a level ten force field in place when we transport the sample aboard” Commander K’ratak then asked Cadet Grebs something but Cooper had stopped paying attention in favor of getting back to his work. Cooper was to busy to notice the conversation between the senior officers only when Commander McFarland mentioned his name did he look up.
“Cooper, Lt. Reyes with me we need to assist Doctor Barnes in Sickbay down on deck 123. We need to get it operational, and fix the power systems so that area of the base has a sickbay. Commander K’ratak can you inform me when the ships are prepped and the away team is to leave and myself and Cooper shall join you.” <Tag K’ratak>
Just before Cooper left the room with Commander McFarland and Lt. Reyes he turned to Loni and said. “Good luck, see you on the ship” <Tag Grebs> Cooper left the room with two senior officers and they made there way to the closest turbolift. When they got inside Cooper said to the computer “deck 123” When the turbolift stopped Cooper and the officers walked to the sickbay when they arrived they noticed several doctors doing their best to get the sickbay ready but Cooper could tell this sickbay would be no use in an emergency. Cooper walked over to the closest Computer panel and typed in a few commands he then looked up and yelled over the noise to Commander McFarland. “The EMH’s program has been damaged in this sickbay I will try to get it back online”

“Yes sir it should not take to long the program only has minor damage I will get to the bio beds when I am finished” Cooper looked back down to the computer panel and got to work. (OOC:sorry it is so long I had a bit to catch up on)

John walked into the sickbay flanked by Reyes and Cooper, as he entered the lights were flickering, biobeds were malfunctioning and the doors to the sickbay were even broken. By the looks of it the doors had to be pried open this sickbay was far from operational. John rubbed his forehead, this was like the site of a battle worn ship, this should not be the state of a sickbay on a federation starbase, he shook his head clearly annoyed. John was about to give out some orders, as Cooper spoke up.
“The EMH’s program has been damaged in this sickbay I will try to get it back online”
“Okay, carry on. How bad is the damage and long will it take? Once you are finished try and fix those biobed.” John answered.
“Yes sir it should not take to long the program only has minor damage I will get to the bio beds when I am finished” Cooper looked back down to the computer panel and got to work.
“Reyes fix that door, this is a Starfleet facility not a barn where the door has to be wedged open. Once you’ve done that help Cooper with the biobeds, I’m going to try and sort out why no power is getting to this sickbay.” Reyes, removed the panel next to the door and immediately flicked the over ride and the doors parted as they should have.
John went over to Dr Barnes, “Simon this place is like a warzone, how did it get in this state. The base’s maintenance teams cannot have left it in this poor order, remind me to speak with Ops once we are out of all this.”

John stood at one of the consoles and began to work on where the power was going… John brought up the power transfer grid, the power was not getting to the grid, some of the conduits were going to need replaced. Again John rubbed his brow, this was going to take him time, however John discovered a method to reroute power past the broken conduits and consolidate it before it reached the sickbay. John routed it to the lighting and the medical equipment, but it was not enough to power up the whole sickbay. The lights stopped flickering, well that’s a good sign John thought as he located the broken conduits on screen.

Loni was standing with the other cadets who had been chosen for the away team when Cmdr. K'ratak turned and spoke to her. "By the way what position did you sign up for if I might ask?" She was about to answer when he spoke again. "It might not be a bad idea to have a medical cadet along as well. If something should go wrong I'm sure the medical chief wouldn't mind the extra help"
Loni then replied to both his questions. "I signed up for Medical and Science Sir. I hope that won't stop me from being the one to fire on that thing?" She then grew quiet hoping she hadn't over stepped her bounds by the question.
Her attention then turned to Cadet Cooper. “I am as sure as I can be” he said to her earlier question. "I realize there is no way to know if this will work until we actually are out there but how sure are you of your idea?" She was about to turn away when she felt his hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry we will be fine”. Loni turned and smiled. "I hope so." She said before turning back to listen to the senior staffs discussion.
She was engrossed in their conversation when Cadet Cooper headed for the door, only to turn back and speak to her again. “Good luck, see you on the ship” She waved and nodded. "Goodluck to you too, see you on board."

Simon listened as John started giving orders for repairs, as he turned he knew what was coming “Simon this place is like a warzone, how did it get in this state. The base’s maintenance teams cannot have left it in this poor order, remind me to speak with Ops once we are out of all this.” Simon had been looking over the reports for this room to find out when this had happened. “Well the repair crews had been coming in looking things over and leaving without powering things up properly using the bases power supply. Seems that this sickbay got missed during a station wide upgrade to allow a new generator to be installed, it was installed about 3 months ago, but this sickbay has remained offline for the past 4 months so when I ordered this one online, everything got fried by the stations power as it was not built to coupe with it.” Simon looked slightly sheepish as he said this “so really it is my fault, the computers only took slight damage as they have backups, but most of the medical equipment just couldn’t handle the power flow and blew.”
<Tag John>
“well I will leave you to your job while I get to mine” smiling Simon turned and looked over the list of doctors on the base, trying to pick 2 to run the other sickbays as he was going to remain here in delta. Finding 2 suitable doctors he called the first on the list “Doctor Firestorm to Ennien, if you can could you take over the running of the main sickbay as I have my hands full down here in the delta sickbay” Simon opened a secondary channel to another doctor to request that she go down to Sickbay Gamma and take charge there.

Cooper was having a little trouble re-aligning the EMH’s subroutines that were damaged because this sickbay had not been properly prepared for the stations new generators that were installed 4 months ago. Cooper was trying hard to speed up his work on the EMH because he had been ordered to help fix the Bio-beds. Cooper was about to call out to Commander McFarland when he heard the console he was working on start beeping, Cooper looked down to see the EMH was now in working order, “Computer activate the EMH” Cooper said to the Computer. “Please state the nature of the medical emergency” The EMH had said just after he shimmered in to sight. Cooper looked at the EMH and asked. “Doctor can you access your memory subroutines”. The EMH looked puzzled for a few seconds and then replied “yes my memory subroutines appear to be in working order, is there an emergency or did you activate me just to chat”. The doctor asked. Cooper sighed heavily before saying “There is a station wide emergency please help the rest of the medical staff prepare this sickbay for use”. The EMH walked off o prepare some hyposprays. Cooper then walked over to the bio-beds where Lt. Reyes had already started to work on them. Cooper then asked Lt. Reyes “What is the problem with the Bio-Beds Sir”. Lt. Reyes looked up and said “Some of the circuits that provide power to the beds have l been blown out and need to be replaced CADET” Cooper had noticed the emphases on his rank and could tell the lieutenant was not happy about having to be helped by an untrained officer. “Yes sir I will start on Bio-bed 1” Cooper said as he walked to the bio-bed. Cooper started by opening the control panel at the base of the bed and started to remove the damaged circuits.

“so really it is my fault, the computers only took slight damage as they have backups, but most of the medical equipment just couldn’t handle the power flow and blew.”
Turning to Simon, John shook his head. “Its not your fault mate, it’s the fault of the repair teams. The entire sickbay should have been tested when the power generator was upgraded. Don’t worry about it, we’ll get this place up and running for you.”
“well I will leave you to your job while I get to mine” “Indeed” John mumbled, as Simon went back to sort out the sickbay.
John was reviewing the details on screen, he was going to have to change some power conduits. It would involve removing a lot of wall panels, and then changing around the circuits to sort of act as an override. John looked across Cooper had got the EMH running, John was pleased. He watched as Cooper spoke to Reyes and clearly noticed a lack of respect for Cooper from his fellow officer. John took a note of it, he would take it up with Reyes once the sickbay was operational.
Approaching, the wall – John removed the first 3 panels and began to switch circuits between them and as he had finished, the panel sparked. Fortunately no circuits were blown, it was just one of the old ones burning up. John went back to his control panel and reviewed the power reaching the sickbay, it had upped to 70%, that’s better but not good enough John decided, he would have to override a couple more circuits to get the bay at an optimal level. He hurriedly found where the circuits needing replaced were and began to remove yet more wall panels.

Being caught off Guard a little when Cadet Grebs answere his question about medical.
"I signed up for Medical and Science Sir. I hope that won't stop me from being the one to fire on that thing?" She then grew quiet hoping she hadn't over stepped her bounds by the question.
Just looking back at her he started to laugh " No cadet it wont stop you from shooting at the rock. If you part of the klingon defense foce even it you were a doctor you would be expected to know how to shoot. There oaths to cause no harm aren't quite the same as the federations. Not to mention I beleave in well round cadets who know the basic operations of key system. I see no reason why you cant do that today, after all there may come a time where you will have to fire the ships weapons and you might as well learn how." <Tag Grebs>
Hitting his come badge " Cadet Cooper prepare your shipment for transport to the U.S.S Expoler. She will be the ship that will be taking us out." <Tag Cooper>
Then hitting his combadge again " Commander McFarland Please report to the Explore I have talked to the captain you will be in command of this mission. We will ship out on your orders have all personnal you think you might need report aboard as well. Might not hurt to take some extra cadets so they can feel what its like aboard a ship on a importan mission" <Tag McFarland>
Looking back at his young Cadet " Well Cadet Grebs I think its time for me and you to go I want to get you basic trainned on tatical and weapons as fast as possible" <Tag Grebs>
