Everyone began piling out the room. A confused Lt. Sienta stood there befuddled by everything while herself fresh from the academy. Aarons: "Hi, you seem new, Lt.-" Kiara: "Kiara Sienta, Majesty's new engineer!" She said happy to finally be able to be certain of something. Already aboard and the ship was engaged in something perilous. "And you are?" Aarons: "A higher ranking officer..." Hawk: "He's Michael Aarons." Said Hawk as he passed through the doors. Aarons: "Thanks for ruining it for me! Don't mind tonight's dinner over there. He and the Vesuvius' engineer are going to go measure him for a roasting grill." ;D "You know, I've noticed that when I want to go really fast it takes a bit of a while to get going. Could you go have a look and maybe improve our acceleration curve?" Kiara: "Yes sir." Ah, it had been so long since someone called him 'sir.' -SOME TIME LATER- Kiara: "Admiral Nova," <subspace> "They have this guy here saying they eat other people here!" Nova: "Who, Aarons? Yeah if he wasn't such a great pilot he'd be considered retarded." Kiara: "He's retarded?" Nova: "Why, what have you heard?!" Kiara: "Well you just said-" Nova: "Never mind what I just said you have proof he's retarded?" Kiara: "Well no, he asked me to work on the Majesty's acceleration curve-" Nova: "Whatever you do, do not give that lunatic any more speed. Ever hear about what he did to the poor Hepta back in the academy?" Kiara: "No, what?" Nova: "Just ask Karynn McCormick who conveniently is also your new captain depending on who she signs in as." <enjoy your new life on the Majesty. ;D>

Meeting his longtime friend in the transporter room, Byrne stepped back as he materialized. The look on Hawk's face shook Byrne to his bones. Actually wishing he had a phaser with him to stun his agitated friend. Motioning Commander Hawk to follow him, Byrne kept a safe distance from the fellow commander until they reached the turbolift. As they left the room, puzzled, Byrne heard the transporter pad hum again and checked his PADD for the maintenance schedule. Tapping his PADD on his hand, Logan attempted to get Hawk's attention.
Hawk slowly rose his head and said, "Sorry, Commander, I havehad a confrontation aboard the Majesty and I believe I may have injured a very important relationship. I would like to not further this conversation, understood?" Byrne nodded and left it at silence to show his friend respect at his request.
Turning the conversation back to the moment at hand, Byrne extended his PADD to Hawk. "Here is the information I gathered from Acanar. I have the beacon location within the Paulson Nebula, but I keep finding symbols that seem to be creating an eon old map of the cluster, kinda like a schematic of the Nebula. I have given as much information as I can to the Commodore, but I think the beacon is just a road sign, and these symbols are the address within the Nebula. Your opinion?" <TAG Hawk>
Upon reaching the Bridge, Commander Byrne headed for the Main Engineering station to download the current engine stats for Commodore Sonak. His main fear was that the density of the Nebula would strain the engines and the cloaking shield would fail.
At that moment there was an alarm klaxon announcing Red Alert. There were multiple distortions within the gases of the Nebula. Checking the sensors, Byrne boosted the energy to the port shielding and primed the impulse enigines, in case of emergency manuveurs.
"Commodore, we are at hot stand-by engine status. Awaiting your order to kill the cloaking field to protect the ship.", yelled Logan. The Majesty also seemed to be reacting to the distortions. As the crew readied the weapons systems, the distortions uncloaked exposing the Minerva and Discordia componants of the Vesuvius. <TAG Sonak>
<Hope this creates a stepping stone to gather both crews and work together>

Having caused quite a stir amongst the two ships the remaining portion of the Vesuvius proper appeared in the Paulson Nebula with the Majesty and Mercury section. Commodore Reckus was given her first look at the rest of her ship once the viewscreen was brought up. Sonak: "What have they done to my ship!?" Byrne: "Reading massive damage to both portions of the ship, and Commodore... We're all out of duct tape." Sonak: "Oh no." Aarons: "I have duct tape." Sonak: "Where did you come from?" Aarons: "That's not important. What is, is that I have an ample supply of duct tape that I could give you." Byrne: "I'm sure I can fix the ship well enough without your help. I do have the neccessary skills." Sonak: "What skills?" Byrne: "To fix the ship." Everyone: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!" Aarons: "Silly boy, everyone knows you can't fix anything without duct tape!" Sonak: "Fine, give it here." Aarons: "What's it worth to you?" Sonak: <sigh> "When you write me saying something, you can use contractions." Aarons: "Deal!" Aarons snapped his fingers and before them opened a compartment fraught with fresh rolls of duct tape. Sonak: "What is this doing here!?" Aarons: "No one would look for my duct tape on your ship." zap! "What was that?!" Sonak: "Probably the Logic Gods trying to strike you down for that last comment." Aarons: "Yeah, well they need to talk to the God of Non-Sucky Aim 'cause that one was way off." <Take this post however you want just as long as you laugh.>

(tiny back post.... and laugh I did Mr. Aarons. Loving the humor.)
Everything went black. Bright flash, some smoke, then blackest black. So black in fact creatures which resider in darkness would have been frightened.
His body was numb as if he was in free fall or in the vacuum of space. No pain, no sound, no sight, nothing. His body jerked to the right.
~Oh wait, there's pain~ he thought to himself. Another jerk moved him toward his left.
Suddenly the darkness started slowly lightening, then quickly and harshly transitioned to a blinding white light. His head and shoulder came into contact with a hard surface and the light disappeared.
A bedraggled moan grumbled out of his throat. He hurt everywhere, no more numb, it felt like he was hit by a MAC Truck (an ancient earth cargo vehicle). He moved his head, still his sight wasn't showing anything so he just closed his eyes and let his head back down. Something grabbed his shoulder and a voice softly spoke.
"Commander? Can you hear me?"
Who on Tandar would know who he was, let alone wherever he was. He forced one of his eyes open to see who was talking to him. The fuzzy form of a young woman with dark hair filled his vision. He blinked a couple times to focus on her.
"Lucy?" he muttered.
She smiled and nodded.
"Good to see you awake," she said with a soft smile.
"This isn't exactly the rescue plan we had in mind," he muttered. He gingerly sat up and surveyed his singed uniform. His hands had minor scald burns from the device that Nanus had tossed him.
"You knew I was here?" Lucy looked shocked.
"Yeah. We bumped into Prefect Aegypius on our search for the Falconian 'Book of the Birds'. Kate and I had been assigned, by Tandaran and Falconian Intelligence, may years ago to take him down. Well it kinda back-fired," he motioned to his uniform.
"So the Vesuvius is here?" She asked all excited.
"Hopefully they're in pursuit right now. And hopefully Kate hasn't killed the Commodore."
~~~~sometime later~~~~
The two of them were making their great escape. Silently they'd rerouted the security protocols and got the location of the transporter room. Only they couldn't seem to get a lock on the Vesuvius.
"Cloaked?" Lucy asked.
"Probably. Here lets try this. We're only going to have a few seconds before the shields come up after decloak."
He punched in a few commands and jumped onto the transporter pad. Seconds later they materialized on the Vesuvius.
"Intruder alert on Deck 4," the computer informed.
Nick sighed and leaned against the wall. It was only a matter of time before L'Ola would get there. And sure enough she arrived just when he figured. She stopped dead in the hall and looked at the weary travelers in front of her. She ran up and gave Lucy a big hug and then Nick a quick kiss.
"Kate..." L'Ola started but was cut off when the ship lurched violently. Nick pulled up a tactical display on the wall panel. It seemed their hack had dropped not just the cloak but also shields and the interface was in Telarite. He looked at Lucy who just shrugged.
"I figured it would be a good way of regaining the ship. Klingons can't read Tellarite," she stated.
"Fix it," he pointed to the monitor.
Another couple rounds slammed the ship sending them sprawling.
"The bridge has been hit and there's someone coming down," L'Ola said as she was reading the display. They moved to the lift to receive whoever it opened to. T'ag and T'lanna stumbled out, T'lannas left leg was soaked with blood and sagged at an odd angle.
"That honorless," she swore in Klingon,"won't let a warrior die in battle."
Another round rocked the ship. All the lights started flickering and pulsating as power was disrupted. The emergency klaxon sounded about a major hull breach in progress.
"Lock onto her now!" Nick said paniced. L'Ola worked franticly to get the transporter to lock.
"Got a lock," she said with glee then the ship rocked and the screen went dead. She pounded her fist on the screen. It came back on with a deck by deck display. The bridge and part of Deck two were now missing.
Everyone stood in silent shock looking at the screen. The Klingons let out a death howl and beat their chests.
"I'm so sorry," L'Ola said, she placed a hand on Nick shoulder. He just stared at the screen stunned.
"It's over now, thats all that matters," he said faintly. "We need to get back to Sonak and the others. Lets get to the battle bridge."
~~~~hours later~~~~
"Coming up on the location beacon for the Mercury section," Lucy reported.
"On screen," he said.
The screen turned on to show a vast nebula swirling and bubbling before them. The Mercury and Majesty were just inside, having just entered.
"Open a channel," he asked.
"Open," Lucy reported.
"This is Commander Martens requesting MVA docking procedures."
A moment of silence greeted them, then finally the image of Sonak appeared on the screen. Her face was in shock, as were the faces of the crewmembers around her.
"Request granted. Mr. Martens and Ms. Kanz you have some explaining to do. However it is good to see you alive Commander."
~~briefing room after docking~~
"What do you have to say for yourselves," Sonak bluntly asked as soon as the two officers sat before her. Lucy decided to shadow and sat in the corner.
"First off, L'ola was acting under my orders ma'am. Secondly I'd like to note that Kate did not act under her own power. The ship was to be returned to you in tact and she agreed to return to custody. Unfortunatly the Falconians got to her first."
He paused to take a breath.
"I'm prepared to take full responsability for taking control of the ship, L'Olas participation and releasing a known criminal to aid in a mission you knew nothing about. If a courtmartial is what it will take then so be it. Spair L'Ola though, she's been through enough trying to get Lucy back and losing me."

The Commodore had a glow about her that only an expected mother could have. Even a Vulcan exterior could not mask motherhood.
"Excuse me," Nack said to one of the technicians that had just come on duty, "can you go to the replicator and get hyprospray alpha-1-9?"
Nack, not having much experience is prenatal care, decided to run a few tests to determine that everything was within normal parameters.
Upon mentioning this to the Commodore, Nack had to cut off her quick glance by ensuring her that they were only going to take a few seconds. With all that was going on outside of Dr. Nack's little medical bay, there was not much time for taking all the necessary precautions... but this won't take long. Nack hurried to ensure the scans were complete before the medical officer came back with a hypospray for Sonak's headache. Nack had forgone the hyprospray that is normally on-hand because of his uncertainty on its side-effects on a half-human half-vulcan baby.
Some color came back to the Vulcan's face when the hypospray was administered, and she managed a pleasant smile which she fought to cover up. The human hormones that were rushing through her body because of the pregnancy were probably enough to cause emotional responses here and there. Nack was glad that of all the possible responses, the response she gave was in his favor.
Sonak received a communique, and quickly excused herself. Nack was left to his own device, which usually was not good for a Ferengi. However, after being briefed on what has been going on the last few weeks, Nack was interested in seeing the medical records of this Hawk character.
Nack went back to the console next to the injured crew specialist. The specialist was breathing at a normal rate. Her visual acuity was increasing, but still had a long way to go before sight would be regained. The console flashed her vitals, which Nack erased in favor of the previous console screen containing information on the Falconian genetic makeup.
The triploidal genetic makeup didn't alarm him much. This was common among certain species. What was surprising, however, was that this species originated on the planet Earth. Most polyploidal species on ancient Earth are worms or salamander type animals. "Higher" life forms, with the exception of the Falconians, do not show this trait.
"I wonder if the Falconians really evolved on Earth... or if they were genetically altered from humans?" Nack ended up mumbling the statement to himself aloud. It was loud enough to cause Teyno to make murmur, which was a hint to Nack that his inner monologue had become not-so-inner. Perhaps he was way off base, but it was something worth investigating. All would probably be answered once they found the Book of the Birds... which gave Nack the idea that he should try to get a bio-scan of Hawk. It could prove interesting.
=/\= Computer, locate commander Hawk =/\= *Commander Hawk is not aboar.... Commander Hawk is in the main transporter room." The computer caught itself while Hawk was in mid-transport
Nack ventured out of the medical bay for the first time since he arrived, and made his way toward the transport room, where Hawk stood indignant to the Ferengi's request. Hawk stormed out of the room. Nack didn't mean to cause a problem. Something else must have already disturbed him.
A few moments later, an engineering officer beamed aboard (Will). After determining that he was following Hawk, Nack gave Will a tricorder.
"Take a few scans for me. Specifically scan for nucleotide count."
Will looked hesitant, but after being assured that the Vesuvius Dr. would find a way to reward him handsomely, he budged.
Will left the transporter room, and Nack went back to sickbay, tending to a few more patients coming in with minor scrapes and burns. The medical technician on hand was celebrating the return of First Officer Nick Marten. Nack would have celebrated with her, however Commodore Reckus conveniently forgot to mention that the FO was suspected dead. Nack made a mental note to better know the ship. After this mission is over, he will require a checkup by every member of the ship... Maybe this way, he will be remembered, and kept in the loop.

Jamison stepped off the transporter pad do find a Ferengi medical officer standing there.
"I'm Lt Commander Jamison, Assistant CTSO of the Majesty. How long has Commander Hawk been aboard?" he asked
The transporter chief replied, "He just left, sir."
"Thank you.", said Will.
Turning his attention to the doctor, Will asked, "And is there something I can do for you, Lt.?"
"Take a few scans of Commander Hawk for me? Specifically scan for nucleotide count." said the Lt.
Will assumed the Lt didn't recognize his rank because he followed up with, "I can assure you that I will find a way to reward you handsomely."
"Are you trying to bribe me, Doctor?" inquired Will.
Before the doctor could answer, Will took the tricorder and said, "I'll take this and get your scans but ONLY because it'll help with MY mission."
Will headed for the door and called back over his shoulder, "And Doctor, don't make that mistake again."

Thanking her new CMO for the painkiller, she stopped briefly to invite him for a little talk after his shift was over. She knew she should start taking a little personal time with individual crewmembers again, if not just to get a personal feel of them. "If you need me, I shall be on the bridge," she said as she walked out of sickbay.
(Nack)
When she reached the bridge, she caught Logan and Aarons (who somehow had found his way back to Mercury) discussing engineering and the use of duct tape. She entered herself into the conversation, but found it too confusing to continue on it.
On to the side of the bridge stood the Falconian commander, Hawk, looking agitated and none too happy. For a moment, Sonak debated going over to him, then nudged Jamey to approach him. "See if there is anything you can do to make him more comfortable," she suggested, "let him know I am available too if he wishes to share his thoughts with me. I need to show him something regarding Admiral Nova anyway, which is confidential."
(Jamey/Hawk)
Meanwhile, red alert suddenly started blaring and Sonak pressed her hands onto her sensitive ears, flinching upon hearing the loud noise. "Someone shut that damn alarm off!" she suddenly shouted, startling those who had never heard her curse before. She too was startled at using such strong language, however soon her attention was drawn to the main viewscreen, where the image of the Majesty was suddenly joined by a battered Minerva and a undamaged Discordia.
When Nick's face appeared on the main viewscreen, Sonak froze in place in shock, staring at the image in openmouthed amazement. It took several seconds before she recovered from the shock and realized he had asked permission to redock the modules. "Request granted. Mr. Martens and Ms. Kanz you have some explaining to do. However it is good to see you alive Commander."
She wrung her hands as she paced the bridge, waiting for the modules to dock and both Kanz and Martens to report to Mercury bridge. ~how can he be alive?~ she wondered ~I saw him get vapourized~
Sonak looked up to see various confused faces looking her way. "As you were," she snapped, her eyes flashing dangerously, "Mr Logan I believe you and Hawk were going to find us a book? Mr Aarons, kindly return to your own vessel, Captain Cornette has need of you and in the future give us advance warning of your arrival."
The Vulcan marched her disloyal security chief and first officer into the readyroom, followed by a young woman in civillian attire. "What were you thinking!" she exploded at Kanz, "were you not demoted enough? I was certain that you would think twice about disobeying my orders since your last stunt."
(Kanz)
"And where is Kate? Did that woman escape again?" This time she rounded on Nick, slapping him hard across his cheek in fury. "How could you," she snapped at him, "how could you let us believe you were dead. We mourned for you, I mourned for you. You are a telepath, you should have let us know you were still alive."
(Nick)
Finally, when she turned to Lucy, who had done a marvelous job so far of remaining inconspicuous, her tone grew softer. "None of this is your fault dear Lucy," she spoke, "and I know Commander Kanz only thought of your welfare, however in doing so she endangered my ship and my crew. She should have come to me, instead of resorting to mutiny. Now care to tell me how you came to be aboard a Falconian vessel?"
(Lucy)

Hawk began to look over the information on the padd which Byrne had given him in the turbolift. The symbols were not familiar to Hawk, however, something about the display or arrangement of the symbols was. Hawk could not put his talon on it, but he knew it was from long ago. Hawk suddenly had images of his Great Great Grandfather and a peaceful lake nestled in the snow capped mountains of Falconian.
Hawk’s images were broken by the presence of someone on the bridge approaching him.
“Commander Hawk, I am Jamey…” Lieutenant Commander Gaz started to say as he was interrupted by Commander Hawk.
“Gaz, Lieutenant Commander, Trill counselor for the Vesuvius since around stardate: 2392:0801” Hawk squawked out the details.
“I am impressed, Commander, with your personnel knowledge of the Vesuvius crew,” Gaz said as he patted Hawk on the shoulder in friendship. “I would like to know if there is anything I can do to make your stay here more comfortable?”
“Well, Commander…” Hawk started as Jamey interrupted.
“Please, call me Jamey,” Commander Gaz insisted.
“Very well, Jamey, I am sure that Commander Byrne can handle all my needs,” Hawk replied.
“Well yes, your physical needs maybe, but I was really talking about your emotional needs, Hawk,” Jamey implied with a kind look. “I mean I heard about your altercation with your crewmate Falco and I just wanted to let you know my door is always open. You know, I remember a time when I had words with a friend of mine and it bothered me all day. That night, my father read me a story that always seemed to help. It was the story of Alice in Wonderland and…”
At that moment, a light came on in Hawk’s mind.
“That’s it! You are a genius Jamey,” Hawk said as he placed both his hands on Commander Gaz’s shoulders. “Excuse me, Jamey, but something extremely important has just come to light and I must fly.”
“I am?” Jamey said in astonishment as he staggered back.
“But Commander, the Commodore wishes to speak…to…you,” Jamey said as Hawk soared to the turbolift with his friends.
Hawk grabbed Byrne by the collar and dragged him into to turbolift saying, “We have got to get down to Stellar Cartography ASAP,” Hawk said with a hint of excitement.
Byrne, in turn, grabbed Aarons and the three stumbled off the bridge into the open door of the turbolift.
Byrne and Aarons recovered from Hawk's excitement and tried to straighten their uniforms in the turbolift.
“Commander, what has gotten into you?” Byrne asked, demanding an explanation.
Aarons just nodded.
“I am sorry Commanders, but it hit me like a ton of bricks. I think I know what the totems mean and the formation you found them in,” Hawk said with a gleam in his eye.
“What!” Byrne inquired.
“I will show you when we get to Stellar Cartography,” Hawk said with a smile on his face. “My Great, Great Grandfather knew all along.
“Knew what?” Byrne insisted.
Aarons just nodded.
“Patience, my friend's, and you will see,” Hawk assured them.

(Kudos Aarons, you got style! After patting the fellow commander on the back sticking a large piece of duct tape to the back of his uniform) That will teach ya, laughed Bynre to himself.
As Hawk grabbed the commanders, Byrne caught a glimpse of Jamison again on the Bridge. Picking himself up and composing himself from being thrown into the turbolift, he was anticipating Commander Hawk elaborating on the riddle he just shouted. What did he mean his ancestor knew. What would they be looking for in Stellar Cartography. Watching Aarons making funny gestures behind Hawk's back, he analyzed the symbols that were showing up on the PADD in Hawk's hand. Some of it started making sense.
Tapping his commbadge, Byrne contacted Commodore Sonak to meet them in Stellar Cartography. " I know what you mean about the symbols having a starchart meaning more than just points on a map. This looks more like a point in the Nebula that could almost be a doorway into a pocket universe with the cloud. But could it really be that old?", asked Logan.
Openning a new screen on the main viewer, Hawk showed a cross-section detail of the Nebula and filled in the blanks. <TAG Hawk>
As all this was happening, Byrne activated the recorder in his right arm downloading all of this information to his internal databank, in case anything was to happen to the PADD that Hawk was holding. Especially seeing that all of the current mission data was right there in his hand. Commodore Sonak arrived as Commander Hawk was about to brief Byrne and Aarons about his findings. Over the comm, the announcement of the three bodies of the ship were about to merge. All four braced for the impact of the re-assembly of the Vesuvius.

Will noticed Commander Byrne give him the slightest look of suspicion.
~He knows I don't belong here.~ Will thought. ~I'll just give'em alittle time to get to where they're going before I head out.~
A few moments after Commander Hawk left with the others, Will left the bridge himself. Having never been on this type of vessel, he was completely lost.
"Computer, locate Commander Hawk." he ordered.
*Commander Hawk is in Stellar Cartography*
"And how do I get there?"
The lift came to a halt and the doors opened.
*Follow the directional lights along the bulkhead to Stellar Cartography*
~Man. I've gotta get me one of these.~he laughed.
Will followed the lights and with his handy dandy tricorder, found Commander Hawk inside.
"Now to figure out my next move." he said to himself. "Not like I can just walk in. Commander Byrne already suspects me of something, I'm sure."
While pondering what to do next, Will heard them announce the docking of the other parts of the ship. He leaned against the bulkhead and braced himself. Before long, the vessel was complete again and Will had that thought once more.
~I GOTTA get one of these bad boys.~

"What were you thinking!" she exploded, "were you not demoted enough? I was certain that you would think twice about disobeying my orders since your last stunt." L'Ola briefly looked at her feet. She was trying to feel ashamed or guilty, but she just couldn't. The only emotion going round her head was complete happiness. Against everything she had thought, Nick was still alive. And to have Lucy back safe and sound as well was just the most amazing thing that had ever happened. She looked Sonak in the eye, "Commodore, I did not disobey any direct orders from you. And I haven't breached the terms of our last agreement. All I have done is been loyal to the people that needed and deserved my help. If doing this means another demotion, or even a court martial then so be it. There is no punishment bad enough to make me regret what I've done." She looked away a little, still content with everything, and very pleased to be sensing the feelings of friendship from the people beside her. There was nothing that L'Ola could do now, it was all in Sonak's hands. But whatever the verdict, everything would be okay. Sonak stared at her former disgraced first officer and her expression grew milder. "As I know you have suffered enough under this, I will not recommend further punishment," she said, lowering her voice, "and I know you are very happy to have your dau-, your ward back."
She stepped forward and pulled L'Ola into a tight hug, surprising everyone in the room as she never once hugged a crewmember before. Then she turned on Nick repeating the gesture. "It is good to have you back," she whispered in his ear, as tears of happiness flowed down her cheeks, "just...next time give us a warning? Or better yet: do not do it again, ever!"

Aarons: "I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a pocket universe." Logan: "How so?" Aarons: "Well as someone familiar with phase cloaks you know that the subject is shifted so fast that is ceases to be visible and its vibrations no longer match normal matter allowing it to pass through." Hawk and Logan nodded their heads pretending to understand what he was talking about. ;D "Now we all know that in subspace things move much quicker in fact an object that enters subspace seems to disappear hence subspace corridors. In fact subspace communication is based on the third theory of radio broadcast: phase modulation." Byrne: "Yes but we can see and detect it." Aarons: "According to Hawk, his people are advanced but that doesn't mean they have phase cloaks nor does it necessarily mean that they have every state of the art piece of equipment. Our ships have new enviro-friendly nacelles, ones that don't tear apart subspace. Perhaps this area was frequented by Falconians centuries ago." Hawk: "What are you saying?" Aarons: "That this could be either the dormant remnants of isolytic subspace weapons, a subspace niche or hole, or what we could be seeing is a chroniton patch used to keep something so out of phase that no one could know it was there and if they went looking around they might get lost in time." Byrne: "It could just as well be an opening to a transwarp conduit." Hawk: "My people don't have transwarp." Aarons: "That and if anyone wanted not even a piece of the Vesuvius could fit in there, maybe a Sydney or Danube-class could fit." Byrne: "Hey I'm the engineer here, how come I don't get to say anything smart here?" Aarons: "Dude, you've got implants, that's smart enough." Hawk: "Smart enough for me." Aarons: "Totally." Hawk: "But wouldn't anything going in there require a phase cloak put on it to keep it from being affected by any sort of time displacement?" Byrne: "Not really, the warp field warps the laws of physics-" Aarons: "And creates an artificial subspace field." Byrne: "-Such that we can alter it to shift the phase variance of whatever goes into it." Aarons: "Oh yeah, we're all in agreement we want to see what's inside right?" Hawk & Byrne: "Yeah." Aarons: "Good, then let's go tell the commodore. You do the talking, she doesn't seem to like me very much." Byrne: "No, she really doesn't." As they exited Stellar Cartography something else happened. Aarons: "What are you doing here!?" Will: "Who me,...uh...I, er...LOOK AT THAT BIG DISTRACTION OVER THERE!!!" Aarons, Hawk, Byrne: "Where!?" Will quickly scanned Hawk. Will: ~Man this is too easy.~ He disappeared. Aarons: "Hey where'd he go?" Hawk: "I don't see the distraction anywhere." Byrne: "Maybe we missed it."

It had been one hell of a day. Lucy could still barely believe that she was on the Vesuvius. The familiar walls and layout were so much nicer to see than her prison cell, and much more welcoming than her previous place of work.
She followed L'Ola and Nick to the Bridge and then to Sonak's ready room. Lucy was trying her hardest to keep out of the way, but at the same time she wanted to support the people that had stood up for her. She took the decision that Sonak was highly unlikely to send her out the way.
Lucy watched in silence as her sort-of-mother was reprimanded. She couldn't help but wonder what on Vulcan L'Ola's last stunt had been. She'd noticed the missing pip but hadn't exactly had the opportunity to ask about it yet. That time would come later, as would the time for her to explain what she'd been up to.
The younger Miss Kanz was still watching when Sonak slapped Nick. *Someone's hormonal today* she thought to herself, before sending a message to L'Ola ~ Stand still, you don't need to be in any more trouble ~
~ Fine, if you say so. What are you, my guardian or something? ~ came the jokingly sarcastic reply. At least someone else thought it was an over-the-top reaction...

“Well, Commander Byrne, it would seem that my idea’s will have to wait awhile longer,” Hawk said as they walked down the corridor to the turbolift. “In the mean time, please have your Science Officer, Fox I believe his name is, put a stardate on those totems you found. Send the information to Commander Greenwood on the Majesty, as well, maybe they can work together on that project.”
“Indeed I will, Hawk, but I just have to know what you were about to show us,” Byrne’s curiosity getting the better of him.
“It will wait Commander, it will wait,” Hawk assured Logan.
Hawk’s thought suddenly turned to why Jamison was in the corridor just outside Stellar Cartography. Could it be that Captain Cornette did not trust him now or is she just worried about his safety?
“I wonder,” Hawk said aloud as he rubbed his chin.
“Wonder what Commander?” inquired Byrne.
“Oh, nothing Logan, I tend to think out loud sometimes,” Hawk explained.
“Maybe I should talk to Kay about my new found beliefs before I tell anyone else,” Hawk thought in silence. “At any rate, he would have a bit more time to fit the pieces of his puzzle together.”

The newly promoted Lt took up his post at the conn, which he had missed very much during the course of this mission. As he made him self comfortable in his seat the red alert alarm went off, it was then followed by a very angry shouting for the alarm to be turned off.most of the bridge crew seemed to be startled at her outburst, maverick Just smiled at her and turned is attention to the view screen, which was now showing the face of there dead 1st officer or so the had thought. After a brief exchange of word between the snack and nick the screen returned to black and sonack heading to her ready room.
Moments later the doors to the bridge lift opened to reveal commander nick and kanz, there was also a slender young woman with them. They made there way to the commodore’s ready room; the door slid open and then slid close. Maverick continued with his duties at the can.
"What were you thinking!" ,"were you not demoted enough? I was certain that you would think twice about disobeying my orders since your last stunt."
The sound of the commodore voice came exploding through closed doors of her ready room. The bridge crew all stopped what they doing and turned the attention in the direction of the ready room, they then glanced at each other. Maverick stood up and pointed to two officers to accompany as he made his way to the ready room.
“keep phasers on stun we don’t want to hurting any one in there,unless we have too”
The door slid open and a trey rushed in, phaser in hand.
“is every thing okay in here commodore” he asked with his phaser pointed at nick… don’t try any thing funny commander or I will make sure you stay dead”
on hearing maverick the other two officers came in and pointed there phasers at the commander kanz and the other young woman.

After listening to the babble from Commander Aarons, Byrne and Hawk headed for Engineering, by way of the Science Lab. Handing the totems to Fox, they went to Byrne's office to examine some of the things Aarons was talking about.
Formulating some theories of what was really out there. They both came to the same conclusion. What ever the totems meant, it was the doorway they were looking for.
Once they did that, the math would be simple. Checking the stores for dispersal units, Bynre found a ion disperal probe that was to be used for irradiating gas clusters to find dark matter. Using the probe, Byrne could use it to detect any artificial mass within the Nebula. Knowing that Aarons would try to take credit, Logan asked Hawk to document everything they did.
Basically, the plan was this, they would have both vessels create static warp fields around themselves, protecting them from the little addition to the payload. A shaped temporal warhead attached to the cone of the probe. Thus, allowing the sensors to map the size of the 'doorway', once Fox and Greenwood dated the totems and symbols.
The whole time Byrne kept looking over at his friend and seeing the determination and anger on his face. 'Just wish he would just vent or someting to ease this stress he is putting himself through', he thought. His mind was racing with questions with all of the information he has learned in the past few days. 'Bet Jamey would go insane if he could read my thoughts about now', he snickered to himself. Seeing the half smile on Byrne's face made Hawk shoot him a puzzled look. Logan just nodded a wave-off, like it was nothing and went back to work.
Seeing the Commander absorbed in the work at hand, Hawk relaxed his composure and nudged Byrne showing that he appreciated what Logan was trying to do. And that maybe what he knew all along would be revealed. And that his great, great grandfather would be proud that his hatchling decendant would finally be able to face the Prefect and regain his family's position in the Flock.

Nack was caught offguard by the reassembly of the Vesuvius. He had never been aboard a ship that was in the process of reconnecting, and did not realize the inertial dampeners would not compensate for the brief moment the interlocks were joining. Walking off the fall, he paced a few moments before ending up behind his desk.
Nack wondered... when, or more importantly, IF, the scans of Commander Hawk would come to fruition through the officer he gave the tricorder to. He'll think of some way to thank the Commander, and refelt his feelings of insult to be accused of a bribe.
Teyno wasn't showing much more signs of improvement. It would still be a few weeks before she was better. Due to the complexity of the regeneration, Nack was forced to keep her under sedation.
Nack's shift was over after a few hours of rummaging through the ships files, finding nothing much of interest except a few holodeck programs that caught his eye. Nack was an avid holo-programmer, but it had been a few years since he had a chance to do any programming.
Having put the other medical officer in charge, Nack made his way back to his room where he took some much needed rest.
Awoken after a few hours, Commander Jamison was at his door with the results of the medical scan of Hawk.

The sight of Sonak hugging people nearly made Lucy burst out laughing *She really IS hormonal* she thought, extremely careful to keep it to herself. She got lost in thought for a second before realising that she was being talked to.
"Now care to tell me how you came to be aboard a Falconian vessel?"
Having been trying to remain expressionless since she got in the room, Lucy had a hard task of hiding her disappointment at that question. She was almost tempted to say that no, she wouldn't care to tell her. But she thought better of it.
"It's a little complicated. I'm not sure how much you all know about where I've been lately..."
She was waiting for responses when Trey burst into the room shortly followed by guys carrying phasers.
L'Ola actually showed a little of the amusement she was feeling, "Umm, Lieutenant, the Commodore was just talking to us about something. I don't think that getting my security crew to fire on us will achieve anything."
Trey looked to Sonak who agreed with her security chief, "We are quite alright. I do not wish force to enter into this discussion. Although I must thank you for wishing to protect me."
<Trey>
The four of them watched Trey leave the room, before the officers turned to Lucy to ask for an explanation.
"Actually I guess backstory isn't important. Basically I was trying to run away from somewhere and the ship I was on was unlucky enough to run into those people. The ship got destroyed and we all got put in prison. I don't understand why though, it was a harmless transport ship..."

Will had followed Commander Hawk and watched him whenever possible. He wasn't at all sure exactly what his captain wanted from him but he did his job. He had completely lost his train of thought, however , when Hawk and the others came out of Stellar Cartography unexpectedly. He quickly scanned Commander Hawk and just took off. After a small rest to catch his breathe and his bearings, he found himself going to see the doctor who had asked him for the scans in the first place. Jamison stood there as the door chimed his arrival.
"I've taken the scans you asked for doctor but you don't get them until I know what they're for. Why needed them."

After watching Jamison run off, Logan really wished he had that phaser on him. It was really getting wierd seeing him so many times, especially seeing he wasn't even supposed to on this ship. Nudging Hawk, Byrne whispered to the Commander," I think you just got scanned, someone is playing some sort of game with us." Nodding, Byrne and Hawk headed for Engineering to input the coordinates in the probes.
Getting mildly iritated with Commander Hawk, Byrne blurted it out, "Will you, please, tell me what you were talking about before that display of information in the Stellar lab? It's killing me, I know Fox and Nik are working on something, but I need to know if this 'doorway' we found is the location of the pocket dimension where the book is. There justs seems to too many clues and what Falco had supposedily said on the Majesty to you. And with the crew back together, and Aarons gone, we really need to knuckle down and get us moving."
<TAG Hawk>
"And on top of all this, I have a surprise for you down the lower landing bay. I have the perfect vehicle for this mission, but we need Jamison to pilot it, I think he is qualified to fly it." Tapping his commbadge, Logan communicated what his plan was with the Commodore during her discipling the FO in her Ready Room.
<TAG Sonak>
After uploading all of the data to the probes, Bynre got permission to fire the volleys into the Nebula. Rushing to the main sensor boards, the Commanders watched as the ionized gas dispersed and lit up a fissure approxiamately 600,000 km starboard of the Vesuvius. Seeing the static warp shell of the Majesty sparkle illumiated the 'doorway' more than that provided by the probes fired. Locking the coordinates into the computer, Byrne finally got authorization for Commander Jamison to pilot his prototype shuttle into the rift. 'Now I can get into the reason he has been stalking Hawk, and see if the Majesty was really behind this mission.', thought Logan.
<TAG Jamison>
Walking into the lower landing bay, Commanders Hawk and Jamison almost dropped their jaws when presented with the new ship in front of them. The sleek lines of the ship almost drew the light from the room. Here stood the newest addition to the Starfleet arsenal. The Epsilon Omega shuttle class.

=^= "Jamison to Captain Cornette."
Kay awoke from her stupor. The last few hours on the bridge had been uneventful so she had retired to her quarters, flipped open a communiqué from Admiral Clark and promptly fell asleep while listening to it. She would have to tell Jack he needed to be more entertaining next time they hit port.
=^= "Go ahead, Jamison - report," =^= Kay replied groggily.
=^= "Commander Hawk is headed for the nebula with Commander Byrne. I thought I'd let you know since he's leaving the Vesuvius. In the mean time, I've conducted a medical scan as per the Vesuvius' CMO's request." =^=
'Why would the doctor want a scan of her COO? And why enlist Jamison to do it?' Kay wondered.
=^= "And, Captain... something else has come up. The CEO over here wants me to pilot the shuttle they're taking in to the nebula. What are your orders?" =^=
'Ah, good boy... it's been a while since I've had an officer that was considerate enough to ask me what my preferences were. Hope I can keep this guy around for a while.' Kay answered, =^="Perfect, Commander Jamison, you can maintain your surveillance of him without becoming suspect. By all means, please accompany them. And, continue to brief me as you deem necessary. Cornette, out."=^=
Kay sat, eyes transfixed on nothing, thinking. Should Hawk find the truth, would it help him or hurt? And what if the truth was made public and it ignited the factions of the Falconian flocks which were adamantly opposed to it being revealed? If Falco was right and they were indeed a treacherous people, would this hunt for the Book be the prelude to war? Little was known about Hawk's people. Was Hawk the lone exception to an otherwise cruel race?
Kay checked the time and decided to chance that the Commodore was still awake. She needed to alert her to everything she'd uncovered so far, be it fact or fiction, so that together they may take the proper steps to prevent opening a Pandora's Box.

After finishing his report to Captain Cornette, Jamison headed down to the shuttle bay to meet Commanders Byrne and Hawk.
"Lt. Commander Jamison reporting as ordered, sir." Will said as he came to a halt in from of them.
~Well if Commnder Byrne wasn't watching me before, he sure will be now.~ Will thought.

After listening to the babble from Commander Aarons, Byrne and Hawk headed for Engineering, by way of the Science Lab. Handing the totems to Fox Fox took the totems. "I'll look at them." he managed to reply before Byrne left the Science labs again. He put the totems on his desk and immediately established a comm-link with the Science labs on the Majesty where Nik was working. "Commander Byrne dropped this off here." Fox showed the totems over the comm-link "What do you think?" "They look very old." Nik replied. Fox nodded "they do." "We have to determine how old they are." Fox said to Nik. "Thats too easy." Nik replied. Fox nodded again as he set up some instruments to start measuring the age of the totems. Not much later he had the results. Sharing them with Nik to make sure he hadn't made any mistake. After Nik confirmed the results he tabbed his comm-badge calling Byrne. "Fox to Byrne." he said "Byrne here." came the reply. "Commander, we have have been able to put an age to the totems by Quantum dating them. As we suspected they are very old, too old to put an actual stardate on them. They are about 11.000 years old, 11.025 year to be more exact with an error margin of a few years." "Thats very old indeed." Byrne replied "Thank you for this information. Byrne out."

L'Ola actually showed a little of the amusement she was feeling, "Umm, Lieutenant, the Commodore was just talking to us about something. I don't think that getting my security crew to fire on us will achieve anything."
“Do I amuse you commander? Course I can assure you that I am dead serious” trey said as he took a few steeps closer to her
“Mutineers shouldn’t be taken lightly… and trust me I don’t plan on taking any of you lightly”
The commodore gave him a slight nod which indicated that every thing was indeed ok and there was nothing for him to worry about. He nodded back at her and reluctantly took his leave. As the door of the ready room slid close behind him he ordered the officer to stay and keep an eye on the commodore, he also had two officers shadow hawk as well. After he was done with assigning guard duty he made his way to the holodeck where he could let of some steam.
After an hour or two of intense calisthenics he made his way to his quarters where he was able to freshen up, he the proceeded to the mess hall. As he entered the mess hall he noticed the young woman whom had accompanied commanders kanz and nick earlier, she seemed to be seated in the corner isolated form everyone else reading a book. Trey stood gazing at her for a moment but she seemed not to notice or chose not to. He walked up to the replicater and ordered two pop drinks, he pleased the class down in front of her.
“Is this seat taken, or should I ask if it is okay to join you. Hi am maverick, trey maverick, so what’s your name?”

“No need to get testy Commander,” Hawk insisted.
“Well, we need to conclude this search with the utmost speed, Commander, for all concerned,” Byrne reminded Hawk.
“Indeed we do, Logan, no matter what the out come,” Hawk stated with a far off voice, “Indeed we do.”
“Right so tell me now what those totems might mean to you,” Logan said with a new excitement.
Just then Fox called Commander Byrne and said:
Byrne thanked Fox for his quick response to his request and turned to Hawk saying, “Well Commander?”
“Great, just the info I needed to complete my theory. It would seem that the totems represent ancient star formations, which become a sort of navigational direction guide when you line through them and see where they intersect. Co-ordinates for the use of a Trans-Warp Portal or doorway which my Great, Great Grandfather told use about, as a children’s story when I was very young,” Hawk explained.
“Of course,” Byrne said as many things became clear.
“I now believe that the ancient Peruvians aided the Falconians in the construction of the portal, as well as, numerous spacecraft, which they all use to escape from earth. I also have another more disturbing theory that the interbreeding of the Peruvians and Falconians is what really cause my people to lose the power of flight,” Hawk said with a true sadness in his voice.
“Fascinating,” Byrne said in astonishment of Hawk’s theory, “Then we should find another set of directions from within the Nebula,” Byrne added.
“Correct, Commander Byrne and I believe we should take Commander Fox with us on this little outing,” Hawk said as they both headed for the shuttle bay.
<Byrne, Fox, anyone>
