ooc:apologies aboutlackofspaces...willfixwhenIgethome..unlessCommanderKanz would besokind? *puppyeyes*Willaddmorewhengethomeanyway. sure I can, will spoil the fun though After her chat with Hedin, Sonak exited sickbay and checked her chronometer. To her horror, she discovered she had completely forgotten about her breakfast appointment with her first officer. As quickly as she could she walked down to the first officer's quarters, only to find them deserted. "Computer, locate commander Kanz" =^= Commander Kanz is in holodeck 3=^= Sighing, Sonak found her way down to the holodeck and checked which program was running. She didn't recognize the program, and against better judgement, she stepped in. The doors had barely slid shut behind her, or she was struck in the face and chest by two beams of water. Both stunned and surprised, she stood rooted to the spot, completely drenched. "I had expected a somewhat different welcome commander," Sonak said drily, though a bemused smile adorned her face. "it seems I was not the only one to have forgotten our breakfast appointment?" Then she noticed Katia. "Greetings," Sonak greeted her," having fun I see? Can I join in?"

Nick slowly strode down the hall back towards engineering. He'd made a brief stop in the shuttlebay to see what had been going on with repairs. Apparently he wasn't as needed as he thought, in fact not at all. His crew was putting him out of a job, or so he thought.
He rounded the corner by the holodeck and noticed water soaking the carpet just outside the doors. Curious he moved closer and looked at the panel to which program was playing. 'Whacky Water World' it read and it had been started by L'Ola.
~interesting~
"Computer replicate appropriate gear for inside program." Immediatly a large water gun appeared in the terminal beside the holodeck. He smiled and picked up the quite large watergun.
In he waltzed, hoping he hadn't been noticed by the others. He took note of L'Ola, Katia and Sonak standing around talking and quickly hid behind a walrus cutout. To his left was a large container of water balloons just begging to be used.
"Use us! Use us!" they said quietly to him. Stealthily he pocketed a couple and climbed up onto a water slide platform over looking the three. He peered over the edge, marked his target and lobbed one of the large balloons into the air. He let out a long whistle to make the sound of an incoming artilary round. It struck the ground in the middle of the three sending water sloshing up L'Olas legs.
"Did you put NPC's in here?" Sonak asked L'Ola.
"Not that I remember," she replied. The three started looking around cautiously. By now Nick had changed his vantage point. He lobbed another striking Katia in the square of the back, she staggered foreward then spun around to see nothing. Just as quickly as he'd thrown it he'd moved yet again.
This time his sights were on Sonak. He leaned out from behind a giant plastic fish and leveled his watergun. Sonak caught him in the corner of her eye and turned to shout a warning just as she was hit by a large stream of water in the face.
"You should keep better watch of the space around you and not stand still," he yelled, bouncing the sound off a couple objects to make it sound like he was somewhere else.
"Nick," the three muttered looking at each other. Another water balloon was spotted incoming and the three ducked for cover.

"Aaahh!!" There was a loud, very high pitched shriek. "That is not fair!" The words were accompanied by fits of giggles.
The two of them had been running round the holopark for the best part of an hour. They were soaking wet and freezing, but they really didn't care.
"You are so going down, Katia Amasova"
"I'm taking you with me in that case."
More shrieking followed. The super soakers had been upgraded since their last testing, and this version was definitely more effective.
Someone else entered the holodeck, and was very lucky not to get soaked.
"Greetings," Sonak greeted her," having fun I see? Can I join in?"
L'Ola and Katia looked nervously at each other. Things could get slightly awkward in there. Luckily Kat was feeling fairly relaxed, and there was always the excuse of looking after Louise if necessary.
"Computer, one super soaker version Ama 3." L'Ola threw the water gun over to Sonak. "Good luck, you'll need it."
She got ready to start shooting again, when something very wet hit her. "Kat, did we leave the water bombs lying around?"
"Looks that way." She got hit as well.
"You should keep better watch of the space around you and not stand still,"
They all knew who that was. Katia looked around to try to find where Nick was. She couldn't see him, but did notice something else. She motioned to L'Ola, who saw it as well. The two of them headed to either side of a pillar.
"Go!" Katia yelled. They leapt sideways and held the triggers down as hard as they could. Needless to say, Nick got more than a little soaked.
He looked a bit shocked, "What the...? How did you...?"
L'Ola grinned, "Didn't even have to look for you. The computer did it for us." Katia continued for her, "I put a design feature in this program. If any non-designated user asks for a soaker they get a Wilson 2"
"Wilson 2?" Nick was still a little confused.
"The second super soaker I ever designed. It has a built in leaker. Only way I could ever beat James was to make him run out of water..."

Sonak stood laughing behind the pillar she was hiding at, wiping strands of soaked hair out of her face. She was having the grandest of times, especially watching the friendly banter between Nick and L'Ola. The Vulcan commanding officer brandished her own super soaker, some large design with huge water tanks. She was at all grateful she had kept up her regular exercising otherwise she'd never have been able to carry this about.
Inspecting the tanks, she discovered them to be about half full, and she knew she had to refill soon enough, but the refill station was a fair way away and she'd risk exposure. Still, her clothing was already clinging to her body so she figured any more wet than she was already was rather impossible.
Taking careful aim at the chief engineer, she squeezed the trigger on her 'weapon' and a squirt of water hit him right on the chest, sending him sprawling in surprise. Her next aim was for her first officer, but she ducked away just in time allowing the burst of water to fly right past her.
Off to the side, Katia stood inspecting her own supersoaker though to Sonak she seemed as though she was lightyears away with her thoughts. Now was her chance to give the scientist something to keep her attention to and Sonak took careful aim, lightly pressing the trigger. She wanted to startle the scientist, but not soak her altogether, just get her very wet.
Katia looked up in surprise when the water squirt hit her, then a frown crossed her face. Water was dripping on the floor from her clothing and she didn't look too pleased. "You'll regret that," she answered, an odd sound to her voice.
Sonak however had ducked back behind the pillar, checking her tanks. They were empty now. Then she was suddenly startled by a burst of stone-cold water, drenching her completely and sending her sprawling, the supersoaker flying from her hands and out of reach. Shivering, she got back to her feet then fell back to her knees vomiting violently. The sudden change of temperature had left her nauseous and she'd already had been having trouble keeping down what precious food her stomach could handle.
Yet, when the nauseous feeling passed, she got back to her feet and went to retrieve her 'weapon' and headed for a refill of her tanks. The wet clothing was uncomfortable, and she felt as though even her shoes were filled with water. Chuckling to herself, she decided to take them off and go barefoot instead.

Again she changed the magnification, until a single system became visible. "This is what is causing the disturbances in this region." She beamed with pride and excitement, totally ignoring her usual sense of emotional control. "A triangular system!" Foxs' jaw dropped when Sonak made this appear on the screen. How could he have missed this on the ships sensor scans. On the other hand, the sensor data had those ghost images. The two of them bowed over the data on the triangular system, but after a while, the technobabble went way beyond Sonak. "I shall leave you to ponder over this," she suggested, "I am going to sickbay. "She winked at her science chief. "I am having this craving for certain foods again, and I have not been feeling well." Leaving a stunned Fox behind, she took a lively walk down to sickbay, where she practically hugged her chief medical officer. Fox looked at her as she walked to the doors of the astrometrics lab and nodded, quickly returning to the data Sonak had gathered. He also looked at the flight patterns from the previous vessels that had scouted this area and noticed some came very close to the triangular system Sonak had found. Then he looked again at Sonaks sensor data and noticed the data showed some subspace distortions and high-energy particles close to the the triangular system. He quickly looked it the database for which anomalies causes these readings and came up with a quantum filament. "No wonder most of the mission failed." he thought and tabbed his com-badge to inform L'Ola of his findings. "Fox to Bridge" he said. "Harper here." came the reply. Fox was a bit surprised by this cause he expected L'Ola and asked for her. Mark then explained she was enjoying a little time off. "I see." Fox replied and started to tell his findings to Harper.

Fox had sent his findings up to the bridge, first by telling Harper, who had been called on duty somewhat early and then by sending the data up to the bridge science station. So one of the systems was producing some sort of sensor distorting radiation. It was coming from a triangular system, which was a fairly banal occurance but for the radiation. Well, whichever singularity that was producing it was not possible for Vesuvius to close in to.
Jared put together a brief running log of the mission. Triangular system producing sensor blocking radiation, see attachment 1. Various gravitational anomalies of unknown origin, possibly not natural, see attachment 2. Ensign Maverick responded to distress call from nearby lone asteroid. All crew were dead, ship type, registration and origin unknown. This area of space hazardrous to larger vessels, although smaller ones can pass between the anomalies.
The part about Maverick was technically a lie. The asteroid was lone, it just happened to be surrounded by many other lone asteroids. Jared also left Sonak out of the log. As far as anyone would know, Maverick did what was needed with no unnecessary danger. The damaged shuttle was not mentioned. Once it was fixed, the discrepancy would be lost between the running log and the engineer's log amid the myriad reports and paperwork of the Federation.
Well there was nothing else that could be done here. Jared turned to his mirror seat. 'Set course for Bellicose. Maximum cruising speed' 'Aye, sir' came the response from Maverick.
Jared sent a message through the comm to the holodeck that Kanz was on. =/\=Commander, we're returning to Bellicose. All possible data has been collected and analysed=/\=

L'Ola rolled her eyes at the report and sighed.
"Ok thanks Reman," she closed the comm channel and looked at Nick and Sonak.
"You alright?" Nick asked.
"I'm tired of all these reports. The crew just keeps pestering me and bugging me. If you saw the report stack in my quarters you'd see."
"It wasn't that bad when I was XO, just a few random padds here and there."
"I'd rather be in my secluded lab away from crew rosters and reports about new hair styles."
Nick smirked and looked at Sonak then to L'Ola. He pondered for a second then spoke.
"Well you could have my secluded lab if you want. I'm bored in engineering, not enough action to keep me going."
"I'd be alright with that, as long as it's alright with you," she said looking at Sonak.
Sonak nodded in consent. "If that is what you both wish, I see no reason why not. Nick has been in the hotseat before and I do feel L'Ola is better off in a laboratory." She smiled softly. "I will miss you as first officer, but if you feel happier in a lab, who am I to argue? I am happy when my crew is happy, and right now I do not seem to have a happy crew."
She wiped the mud from her clothing and made a vain attempt to get it out of her hair. She cast a smirk at her two officers, then glanced at Katia from the corner of her eyes. "Uh-oh," she said softly, "that one has it in for me I tell you."

*Did that really just happen. How on Qo'noS had that happened?* The same thoughts were rotating around her head constantly. They were, however, interrupted abruptly.
"That one has it in for me I tell you."
L'Ola did a double-take. Sure, it was true that Katia didn't like their Captain, but the girl was usually subtle. After all, she'd kept her affair secret for a long time. Kanz gave a nervous laugh, "Nah, she just gets a little power crazy with a water gun."
She made her excuses and headed off to the Bridge, noticing as she left that Katia was ending the program and preparing to make a quick exit as well.
On the bridge she sat, for what could well be the last time, as the Commanding Officer of the ship. The next day she would transfer command back to Sonak. And then... well then who knew. She'd just signed up to transfer back to the decks. It hadn't been the rash decision it might have appeared either.
For weeks now, her and Katia had been strategy planning during their frequent holodeck workouts. Of all the many hypothetical situations they'd come up with this hadn't even crossed their minds. If only fixing Kat's problems could be that easy...
L'Ola's thought turned once again as she was handed a departmental update, this one from the tactical and security team. And that gave her an idea.
Handing power of the Bridge back over, she headed for her ready room *wow I'll miss having one of these*.
"Computer, open communication line to USS Ballasaagh, Chief Tactical Officer's quarters."
"Channel open" the computer responded.
A picture appeared on the screen, "Well that's a surprise, haven't heard from you in a while"
L'Ola grinned back, "Yeah, well things got a little busy. Anyway..."
"You have a question"
"Right, right. You knew that how?"
He loosely shrugged his shoulders, "We haven't spoken since I left the ship, and I know there's nothing wrong that I'd need to know about."
"Okay, so you win. Listen, James, what's it like to do your job?"

~several hours after the holodeck episode~
Sonak serenely walked onto the bridge, the first time since being allowed back on duty and she felt really welcomed by the smiles she was receiving. She walked up to the command centre and watched her first officer rise from the centre seat. The Vulcan commodore motioned the younger woman to remain where she was, but Kanz shook her head.
"Is there something wrong commander?" Sonak asked, wondering why the woman refused to remain in the command seat, since she was captain of this mission. From what she had heard though, their mission seemed to be over for now and course had been set for Bellicose, which they would reach in several hours.
"Nothing wrong ma'am," Kanz replied, "except that I am handing command back to you. Doctor Hedin has certified you medically fit for duty, and Starfleet Command just confirmed his assessment to me. Therefor, respectfully ma'am, the ship is yours again."
The words sounded as music in Sonak's ears and she gladly took the centre seat. "Thank you commander," she said, sounding grateful, as Kanz sat down in her usual first officer's seat.
"Commodore, incoming transmission from the Black Tulip." Reman suddenly announced.
"Route it to my readyroom Mr Jared," Sonak answered, rising gracefully from her comfortable seat and walked to her readyroom to take the message. She couldn't help but frown at the message, certainly Kanz had done better than expected?
Reading on, she realized that her first officer had respectfully requested to be reassigned to regular ship duties, finding the first officer job quite to her liking, but not challenging enough to her skills. While Sonak regretted losing a good first officer, she had to agree with her first officer's assessment. Instead, Kanz was being reassigned to chief of security.
~but who will be first officer?~ she wondered, continuing to read the message. "Ah!" she exclaimed, then smiled.
Walking back onto the bridge, she motioned for Kanz to take the security station. "You seem to have been reassigned to chief of security," she announced, then tapped her combadge. "Commander Martens, kindly vacate engineering and take your place on the bridge? You may tell Lieutenant Commander O'Malley that she has been appointed chief engineer."
<Martens>
