In the labs Fox tried to analyse the astroid. "Why the computer didn't warn us still being inside an object. The computer should have overrided the command to decloak." From all the reading he had gotten so far he couldn't find anything wrong. Then Byrne's message came in.
=/\=Byrne to Fox, do you know what power we have and the status of our Reaction Control Systems? I have a dutiful husband and father here who wants his family intact. =/\=
Fox tabbed his comm-badge. "Reaction Control Systems are shut down at the moment." he relied. "and we have no power to bring them online, unless...." Fox paused a little. "Yes, yes?" Byrne said, a little girl could be heard on the background asking for her mommie. "Cutting off all the power to the science labs would do the trick." he continued. "I will get back to you in a sec. Fox out."
Fox looked back and immediately ordered all the personell out of here. "Computer, shutdown power to science labs and reroute to the Reaction Control Systems, on my mark." as last officer Fox walked to the door. As the closed behind him he called "Mark."
The door wasn't fully shut still and inside could be seen how every light, every console went blank. He tabbed his badge again. "Fox to Byrne. You should have your power now."

"If ever he decides he has enough of practicing medicine, he could always take up a career as clown," Sonak chuckled as she listened to Marco's echoing complaints. "He is quite comical to have around, even if he is in one of his grumpy moods."
The Vulcan gently patted Thorad on the shoulder. "Call me if you need anything," she ordered, "I am going to see if our chief engineer could use some assistance with the removal of that boulder. I am quite certain Starfleet Command will have a fit if they hear about this. And I am not so certain it will be a fit of laughter at that."
She walked around her seat, towards Halthor who was working at one of the lateral work stations on the bridge. "How much energy would you need to divert from life support to activate enough of the cloaking device to veer away from the asteroid?" she asked.
-- just outside the asteroid field --
Gul Meris glanced at his tactical officer, a huge grin spreading across his face. "We got them at last," he chuckled, slamming his fist down on the armrest of his seat, "after five years, we got a state of the art ship at last. Look at it Mekor, just look at it. A starfleet vessel dead in the water, though that ship looks a bit odd to me."
Glinn Mekor looked up from his readings. "It is only part of the ship," he reported, "and she's experiencing trouble. A large asteroid is embedded into the saucer section of the top module. I'm not detecting the other modules, so this one could be abandoned. However, I'm reading several life-signs. Shall I intercept?"
Meris nodded, glancing at the viewscreen. "See if they got their shields raised, ratle them a little but don't destroy them or damage them too much...yet. Fire a warning shot."
Mekor grinned, his hands flying over his console. He watched the other vessel rock on the impact of his disruptor blast. "Direct hit, they're not responding yet."
----
"What was that!" Sonak called out as the ship rocked violently. "Halthor, put everything you can into shields."
With effort, Thorad climbed into his seat, his antennae drooping, showing his pain. "Shields are inoperational," he reported, "weapons are down. We're defenseless. We can only hope Discordia and Mercury can come to our aid."
"Great," Sonak cursed under her breath, "Tovan, as soon as you are out of that lift, I could use your input on the bridge. D'Angelo report to the bridge, you need to take the science station. Halthor, take tactical. Get thrusters operational, first priority! And find out who is attacking us!"
----
"I am definitely getting lifesigns," Mekor reported, "at least two Vulcan, two Andorian and a Human. The rest is a little garbled, we need to get closer. We outnumber them though, we could take the ship."
"Move in," Meris ordered, "I want that ship. Prepare to board them."

It had taken a while for Tovan to climb back up to deck one through the Jeffries tubes. He wasn't about to trust the turbolifts again. Power was still blinking in and out in many sections, and still had to pick around a few rocks here and there. He was still unsure as to why sensors had missed the ship, but he had a few ideas. Once the ship was out of this mess, he would write a few guidance subroutines for maneuvers under cloak.
He was almost to the bridge, when the ship shook. He struggled to avoid falling until the ship steadied itself. Had they hit another asteroid? He heard Sonak's voice crackle through his commbadge. "Tovan, as soon as you are out of that lift, I could use your input on the bridge."
"Aye, sir, I'll be there in a moment, I'm almost there." Tovan scrambled up the last few rungs, and popped out onto the bridge. The main viewer was still offline, so he slipped into his usual station and started assessing the situation.

As Commander Fox exited the bridge, An resumed his position at his tactical console. He routinely scanned the asteroid field and neighboring space on long-range sensors. Being the first time in an asteroid, An adjusted the main viewscreen to view the suspended asteroids. He could not help but stand astounded at the field’s natural beauty. A couple meteoroids momentarily eclipsed a distant sun, casting a random, brief shadows across the tertiary bridge. The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the people see His glory, An reminded himself.
Suddenly, An detected a vessel with his sensors. Maybe help has arrived, he thought. “Commander Fox,” An called, “unidentified ship detected just outside the asteroid field. Should I hail them?” Before Fox responded, the unknown ship fired on the Minerva. Reddish-green streaks of energy streaked across the bottom half of the main viewscreen.
“Commander Fox!” An called urgently as he raised Discordia’s shields and activated Red Alert, “Returning fire…”

[limegreen]She walked around her seat, towards Halthor who was working at one of the lateral work stations on the bridge. "How much energy would you need to divert from life support to activate enough of the cloaking device to veer away from the asteroid?" she asked.[/limegreen]
"Were gonna need all the power this ship can handle, due to the fact, that we have just pulled out from an asteroid and are dealing with tiny asteroids in space, our cloak will need external power and the right power settings for the allocation of energy to take place, if i did it correctly we should have cloak momentarily upon your request." Vander replied then applied his engineering skills to spreading the energy to equal levels then transfering it to the cloak, it was a difficult task, but it was done.
[limegreen]Mekor grinned, his hands flying over his console. He watched the other vessel rock on the impact of his disruptor blast. "Direct hit, they're not responding yet."[/limegreen]
After the ship was about to enter cloak, fire from approaching vessels came into the ship, and the cloak remained unresponsive. It was apparent that the shields were needed in this situation. Vander had to react quickly and disruptor fire had hit necessary levels of the ship and he needed to transfer power to where the ship needed to engage shielding, going through external systems once again, Halthor found that there was enough energy to pull from the warp core to eventually cause a 80% increase in ship power as well as provide shielding for the time being, but that would leave the Vesuvius dead in the water, and Halthor needed to get the warp core fixed thereafter.
[limegreen]"What was that!" Sonak called out as the ship rocked violently. "Halthor, put everything you can into shields."[/limegreen]
"All ready done Commodore, One thing though I had to tamper with energy from the warp core so now we have to work on that area in order to get that ship moving again, but dont worry we will be up and running again, first and foremost we gotta get those fighters out."

[limegreen]"Great," Sonak cursed under her breath, "Tovan, as soon as you are out of that lift, I could use your input on the bridge. D'Angelo report to the bridge, you need to take the science station. Halthor, take tactical. Get thrusters operational, first priority! And find out who is attacking us!"[/limegreen]
"Understood, Commodore!" Halthor upon request moved to the tactical station and readied up the ship for commencing defensive meneveurs on the attackers.
"Powering up weapons, we have a lock on the enemy" Vander noted then looked at Sonak for the next request.

As Byrne watched An nervously pace the new bridge, he kept an eye on the comm-display showing Fox's progress. After seeing the power to the come back to the RCS modules, he instigated a power up of the warp core for the module and locked the bearing facing the Minerva Module. Once he had the systems running, he received a communication from Halthor stating that the removing of the asteroid was authorized by the Commodore.
Fox kept moving back and forth driving An dizzy, but Logan knew that Commander Fox had his back. Within seconds, a bolt of energy was fired past the Minerva hull.
"An, traced the origin of that shot, we cannot let it happen again.", yelled Byrne. "Fox, refocus the redundant power to the phase cloak array. I have an idea. We can use the Module's shields and phase tech to not only block incoming fire, but insert ourselves thru the Minerva and dislodge that big freaking rock from it. This way, Halthor can keep the Module's forcefields in tact."
"Halthor, this is Logan, I have started a procedure to assist you, but I need the main part of the crew to stay in the fore section of the ship. I am going to phase through you, knocking out the asteroid fragment, but you have to deal with the little ones and the oncoming ship. That is your responsibility for the protection of the Module and the command staff. After my run, you will be responsible for reuniting a mother and her kids. Cause as of now, Fox and I will be out of choices."
Sonak could understand that choice, but she wasn't happy with it. "Logan, get An to deploy the fighters!" she ordered, "if you can get a lock on Tovan, get him into one of the fighters, unless he wishes to stay and try to pilot Minerva."
She turned to the younger Vulcan. "Your choice commander," she offered.

Ensign wanted to demolish the enemy into oblivion for firing on their defenseless ship and home-away-from-home. On the other hand, this unidentified ship may have mistakenly believed that we are an enemy or accidentally fired due to asteroid damage.
“An, trace the origin of that shot,” Bryne bellowed from the bridge’s center, “we cannot let it happen again.” The security chief scanned the surrounding space for recent phaser, disrupter and pulse cannon activity. “Minerva’s weapons and shields are inoperational. Disrupter fire located off starboard side. Enemy targeted; we’re ready to fire,” Ensign An called back.
The security chief glanced back down, quickly double checking the targeting screen. Automatically, he locked onto the main weapons array of the unidentified ship, finger barely touching the trigger sensor.

Marco attempted to climb back up the Jeffries tube after his shoulder was knocked out of its socket. At one point the pain of the muscle and tendonous tissue stretching unnaturally around the shoulder stopped him. The three deck free-fall he just went through left him pretty bruised as well.
"AHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" he yelled as D'Angelo wrapped his arm around a rung on the ladder and dropped his body, using the weight to pop his shoulder back into its socket. He hung for awhile while waiting for the extreme pain to subside. The positive side was that his arm was usable now. The down side was that it hurt like a mothe---
=/\=D'Angelo report to the bridge, you need to take the science station=/\=
"Where did she think I was going," he wondered out loud as he started to climb again. The science station. at least, would be a less physical job than the art of healing and repairing broken bodies. He redoubled his climbing efforts and made it to the bridge rather quickly considering his right arm was less than optimal.
"Reporting," Marco said, for the first time not complaining. "Long range sensors are offline, and so are short range..." he hit a few buttons, "I should be able to get them back on in a few minutes. I'm going to reroute power from the spare medical beds in sickbay not being used."
The benefit of being the Doctor is he knew which beds were and weren't being used. With that being the case, he had an advantage at the station that an ordinary science team member might have to query someone to gain. All benefit was lost, though, at Marco's slowness with working on the console.
"Let me know what we need here," he said to the Commodore. "There's a huge mess here and I need someone to prioritize concerns."

Using the Discordia as a guided missle, Logan forced the Module into a dorsal attack on the Main Module. Activating the phase cloak and shielding, he was able to dislodge the fragment from the top most Module. As the test scans came back, it only compromised about 2 percent of the Minerva Module.
Coomanding Fox to drop 2 external probes and 2 cannisters of Anti-matter to confuse the alien's tracking sensors, Commander Byrne was able to see the results of the manuveur. This would give the crew of the Minerva a chance and Halthor to keep it together.
An monitored the alien fire pattern and used the transporter system to beam a PADD to Commander Halthor with the coordinates of the firing solution. Byrne then yelled," Has anyone had communication with the Mercury Module? We have a crippled ship in 3 parts and a Commander in critical condition. Personally, I just imagine how bad D'Angelo is wining." Snickering to himself slightly. "We need to place this Module inline with the Mercury and lock back in to keep any attempts at attacking the Minerva till she gets back online.

"Understood Commander, I appreciate your persistance in the matter, for right now we need to get this enemy off our hands, and I needs all the power i can get from engineering so we can stop a ship invasion, I hope you understand the circumstances." Vander noted

Seeing this new chance, Halthor was able to amplify the shielding some more, and get a more positive lock on the enemy ship, it was imperitive that this great advance in power gave the ship more time and effort to knock out the enemy. Looking at tactical Halthor noted that many of the external systems were beginning to come on, after a fragment had been disloged giving more power to systems.
"Beginning continuous phase fire on the enemy from forward phaser banks. Starting now." as Halthor engaged the system, the phaser fired and knocked one of the incoming boarding shuttles into pieces, and another phaser blast shot into the enemy ships shields, causing them to refocus there efforts.

[white]Gul Meris watched as the ship launched a heavy burst of phaser fire into his ship, only causing minor shield damage.
"What the Heck was that, concentrate on that ship." Meris ordered[/white]

“Logan, get An to deploy the fighters!” ordered the Commodore to Commander Bryne. Ensign An looked up from his targeting screen to Bryne. The Commander nodded to An. “Fighter pilots, report to Shuttlebay 5 for launch,” Ensign An ordered as he entered the turbolift, “Deck 14.”
As the turbolift hummed, An kneeled down. “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but I will remember the name of the LORD our God,” An prayed, “I will look unto the Holy One of Israel and seek the LORD!”
When the doors opened, An saw Shuttlebay 5 covered with fighter pilots preparing their crafts. Some ran last minute inspections while others performed cultural blessings or superstitious rituals. He noticed a few younger pilots nervously standing near their ships, bouncing on their heels and talking to their wingmen.
An ran to his designated fighter, climbed to top of his ship and called down for all pilots to hear. “Everyone, attention please!” An yelled, his voiced echoing around the shuttle bay, “We’re in an asteroid field and not open space! Use asteroids and meteoroids to your advantage. Use them to distract enemy fire when targeted. May God be with you.”
Standing at the base of his ship, An noticed his reptilian-humanoid co-pilot climbing up. “I am Crewman Onynar Tosk,” the Tosk nodded, “All systems are operating within specified parameters.” An bent down and opened the hatch, “Very good to hear,” An responded, “after you, Mr. Tosk.” An nodded to his wingmen, receiving a quick wave.
After sealing the hatach, they took their seats. The cargo bay door opened, revealing the asteroid-scattered star field. Tosk hovered their craft as the wings unfolded in unison with the rest of the fighters. After hearing both squadron check-ins, An took a deep breath and manned his controls, “Fighters, let’s go.”
The group flew through the shields and toward the enemy vessel. An opened a channel to the fighter convoy. “Remember, if we loose our shields, thrusters only; we don’t want any micro-hull breaches. Specific attack cordinates are sent, mind displays.” Affirmatives came in throughout the convoy.
An took their fighter toward the enemy vessel, zigzagging through meteoroids as if he was running downhill through the woods back home. “Take the phaser array and ready the quantum torpedoes,” An ordered. “Yes, sir. All six quantum torpedoes ready,” replied Tosk.
The ship shuttered periodically as heavier micro-meteoroids bombarded their shields. An and Tosk attracted phaser fire as they darted in for their attack run. The ensign barrel-rolled their fighter, allowing a large meteoroid to absorb the full hit.
“Attack, maneuver, disengage,” An reminded himself. Their fighter dizzily climbed to a few degrees below zenith and slashed down on the enemy’s warp nacelles. Tosk fired the phaser array toward the nacelles while An burned their twin impulse engines. They dove around meteoroids and phaser blasts as An accelerated their closing rate. Tosk’s phasers hit on target, but the enemy’s shields held strong. “Fighters, fire a torp or two with your phasers on each attack run,” An called through the channel,” we need those shields down!”
As their quantum torpedoes landed, An ran a break during their disengage, causing the unknown vessel to overshoot. An throttled up again and circled back, randomly slipping, turning, and diving through meteoroids and phaser fire.
“Shields at 70 percent, Ensign,” Tosk updated. “Keep them up, we can’t loose them out here!” An answered back as he throttled-up the fighter for another attack run.
Suddenly, An engaged another breaking maneuver. This time, he pulled up from the attack line and looped over toward the nacelles again while easing off on the throttle. Phaser fire streaked across their cramped cockpit as An accelerated toward the nacelles. He barrel-rolled through phasers as Tosk emptied his last torpedo on the port wing.
“Alpha Squad, stay on the attack! Beta, keep weapon fire away from the Vesuvius! Keep mixing attack patterns! And use those meteoroids!”

A shudder of fear and unease went down her spine as sensors showed Cardassians were attacking her ship. Even more unease was caused when she saw Discordia shimmer out of view. She suddenly felt odd, as if ghosts were passing through her. The Vulcan didn't believe in ghosts per sé, though she did believe in the existance of spirits. What she felt though, were no spirits, it felt more like part of her crew passing through her.
"Ma'am!" someone cried behind her. She turned to see Thorad on his feet, leaning heavily on the operations console. "Parts of the asteroid have come off. Discordia is decloaking off our port bow. Fighters are concentrating on driving the Cardassians off."
"Thank you Thorad, now please sit down or lie down, or Doctor D'Angelo will have my hide for allowing you up. In his absence, you are my responsebility, understood?"
"Speak for yourself ma'am,' the Andorian replied, antennae twitching and a bold smile crossing his face. Yet, he did sit down even though he remained hunched over his console.
They were thrown out of their seats when the Cardassians attacked again. "Shields!" Sonak cried out, picking herself up from the deck once more. "Halthor, whatever it takes, I want the shields back up, and phasers!"
~~~
The Cardassians fired upon the defenseless module with all their power, occasionally diverting their attention to the shuttlecrafts. Two of them were already destroyed, and one severely crippled. "Disable them, let it limp back to wherever it came from. Focus on that one module, we'll have it in tow soon enough. The other two separate modules can't take us, we're outnumbering them three to one."
More fire struck the hull of Minerva, slamming a hole in the dorsal hull as shields would not catch the destructive power. Then, the shields flickered on for a few seconds, only to wink out again and Minerva managed one shot at the second Cardassian vessel.
The Cardassians, who had not expected this act of desperation, stared in shock as their second ship was recuded to debris, fire and smoke, the latter of which dispersed and went out just as quckly due to lack of oxygen.
~~~~~~~
"Good work commander," Sonak praised her chief engineer. "Get hold of the other modules, we need a tow out of here as we do not have sufficient power to move on our own. I assume our reserves went into raising our shields?"

Still manning the science console, Doctor D'Angelo saw first hand what happened on a ship during a battle. Normally he was tucked away in the bowels of a large vessel- that's what Starfleet training gave him. He had never been in a real battle.
"Shields holding," Marco said, not entirely sure he was reading the shield readout. He hoped he didn't make a mistake.
The Doctor secretly wished someone would get hurt. Nothing serious... just something that would qualify him to leave the science station, which he was beginning to loathe. He refrained from complaining out loud, though. Marco started to get the feeling that everyone was growing weary of his pessimism.
As events unfolded, the Doctor became almost unaware of his surroundings. The constants jolts due to inefficient oscillation compensators in the inertial dampers became a normal part of the work, and Marco hardly noticed himself instinctively grabbing for hand rails each time something jolted.

“The Cardassians lost their shields! We dropped to 20 per…” Tosk exclaimed. “We’ll be out of here before we hit 10!” An interrupted, anticipating the warning, “Keep on the warship’s disrupter!” As Blue Eight crossed their path, a yellow disrupter blast ripped it open. Regrettably, An flew through the turbulence of Blue Eight’s debris.
An almost turned the ship around, but he found a large asteroid slowly orbiting into the dogfight. When the timing’s right, the Cardassians will fire on the asteroid, allowing the debris to take out his fighters.
An accelerated the 30-meter fighter away from the Cardassians toward the local asteroid orbiting toward the warship’s port-bow. While Alpha Squad covered, the fighter appeared to be retreating back to the Vesuvius as Beta Squad took on the brunt of the attack.
“All craft! Retreat! Clear the field!” An yelled to the fighters. An had to time his attack perfectly before the Cardassians fired. He ran similar attack scenarios on the holodeck, but never in real space.
“Get ready lay on the phasers…hold on to something…” An warned, but Tosk remembered their simulations. Tosk braced against the bulkhead and the wrap-around console, but still ready to fire at a moment’s notice.
An burned the twin impulse engines to a hot sapphire and dove unpredictably toward the asteroid. The fighter caught the asteroid’s orbit, sling-shooting it back around to the warship. Tosk and An flung against the seats as the fighter hurtled around the giant space rock. Feeling nauseous, An watched the stars spin around their cockpit after loosing his fix on the forward bulkhead.
While moving at an astonishing velocity, the Cardassians’ disrupter appeared over the asteroid’s horizon. Tosk fired phasers nanoseconds before the Cardassians fired. The disrupter vanished from the hull after shooting a cut-off stream of disrupter fire. The weakened energy beam caught the asteroid, only breaking off a few chunks, instead of the foreseen massively dangerous debris of a full disrupter blast.
In a flash, a released meteoroid slammed into An and Tosk’s fighter. Sparks flew and an emergency alarmed wailed before both lost consciousness.

On the sensors Fox followed the probes and cannisters he just had dropped. It looked like it had worked for now. He also tried to keep track of the fighters commanded by An and saw what happened to An's fighter.
"Commander Byrne." he shouted across the bridge "Do we have power for transporters?" he knew he himself had taken them offline earlier to save power. "An is in trouble." He saw Byrne look at the console he was close to, shaking his head.
"We'd have to cut power to shields. We can't loose them now." again the ship rumbled from a hit. Fox tried to think of something they could do. "How about a short warp burst, then when we drop out of warp, drop shields and beam them out?" Fox looked at Byrne awaiting his answer.

Acting quickly to the situation the cardassian ships were on the move, and little did the minerva ship know what they had coming to them, But Halthor had something for them. With control of engineering and tactical stations, he was about to unleash something devastating on the foe.
[limegreen]More fire struck the hull of Minerva, slamming a hole in the dorsal hull as shields would not catch the destructive power. Then, the shields flickered on for a few seconds, only to wink out again and Minerva managed one shot at the second Cardassian vessel.

"Understood Commodore, I'll get them up and running as soon as possible, hopefully we will have no more incursions like that." Looking over at the viewscreen, Halthor nodded and took a breath for a moment knowing that the tasks ahead would be even more stressful, if there would be a possible enemy incursion, lets hope not.
Continuing on the tactical scanners, Halthor could not identify anything, it seemed they were safe for now. Concentrating on his efforts, Vander changed from the tactical to engineering stations, configuring modules and ships motivators, and propulision systems. According to ships systems she was going to need some work, but Vander could turn out for the better. Looking over analysis's of the system, and showing all available energy, Halthor transfered energy that was has pilled up in non essential systems, and transfered it to warp and light transwarp power.
"That should do it Commodore" Halthor smiled and looked back at the Commodore hoping he was doing the right thing.

Small meteoroids streaked past, haphazardly knocking on the haul of the ship. An’s pounding headache and pounding meteoroids woke him up in time to watch the interior lights flicker and die. He drifted weightless in the cockpit with Tosk suspended in midair nearby, unconscious. An looked for Tosk’s pulse but could not find it. “Maybe cause he's a Tosk…” An hoped. He checked for injuries and found burn marks covering parts of his face and flight suit. An strapped him down and opened the emergency kit, which spun on an invisible string next to him.
Light from bursts of phaser fire filled the cockpit and winked away, causing him to turn toward the window. The starfield seemed to twirl randomly around the ship. Dizzyingly, the Cardassian warship and only two modules of the Vesuvius blinked past.
“We must be spinning like a top…where’s the other module…was it destroyed…how long can the haul hold out til one rips through…”
Feeling shaky and nauseous, An held his head, trying to get the ships and stars to stop spinning around his ship. The ships appeared smaller after every few spins. An tried to wake the dead console. The winking and blinding phaser light, the knocking meteoroids, the spinning universe, the mental drumming and Tosk’s possible death tore at An’s faith and sanity.
“Forsake us not…O LORD…O my God…be not far from us…thou hast been my help… leave me not…neither forsake us…O God of my salvation…”

Without turning, Sonak signaled her chief engineer to do what he thought was best. Her hatred built as she saw on the main screen what the Cardassians were doing to her ship and to the fighters. Against the larger cruisers, her fighters never stood a chance and her own ship was outnumbered at least two to one on each module. The fighters were able to draw some of the fire away, but Minerva was still getting pounded by disruptor fire.
"Destroy them," she ordered, pointing at the main screen.
"Ma'am?" Thorad queried from OPS, "thats against starfleet regulations. We can't just destroy them, just like that."
The Vulcan never took her eyes off the screen. "Our fighters are being destroyed, half of them are powerless as it is. See that tumbling craft with the trailing smoke? That is An's fighter, and he is powerless. Discordia is moving in to intercept but Mercury is engaged in a fight himself, they cannot come to assist. We are all the hope they have."
This time she turned, eyes blazing in fury. "I will give this order only once, Lieutenant Thorad. Destroy them. If you will not comply with that order, leave the bridge at once."
Thorad defiantly met her gaze, antennae twitching, then looked past her at Halthor and D'Angelo. Then he took a step back from his station. "I can't follow that order without the backing of the first officer," he answered, "as obviously the commanding officer is not in her right mind to give the order. Given past relations, she acts irrationally and only seeks revenge."
Sonak froze in mid-stride, gazing at the Andorian in confusion. "Revenge?" she seethed, "do you think it is about revenge? They are destroying my ship. If we do not destroy them, we will all be killed. We have no means to defend ourselves if they all come at us. The other modules do not have the time to come to our defense. Destroying them is our only option."
Thorad sighed. "Very well," he relented, unwilling to leave the bridge in the heat of battle. "Perhaps we get the chance at some hand to hand combat, as we lost our shields altogether. Raiding parties could be beaming aboard any second. Reaching, he tossed her a phaser. "Better get used to wearing one ma'am, you might be needing it." He was aware of her loathing for phasers, but she couldn't argue the need to protect herself now. Especially not with Larok missing in action; reports had it he never made it to discordia, but he wasn't on Minerva either. And with only Halthor and D'Angelo on the bridge...
"Where is Tovan?" Sonak suddenly asked, "was he not ordered to the bridge?"
Thorad pointed to the turbolift doors. "You gave him the choice to pilot this module or one of the fighters. He may have gone to the shuttlebay. Either that, or he relieved himself briefly from duty to attend to something ah...personal."
The Vulcan sighed. "I need him on the bridge, order him back here. Doctor, status of life support and sensors? Halthor, get me all available power on shields and weapons. My order stands and if you refuse to follow it, you can leave. Now, move!" She turned back to face the screen. "And where is my link to Discordia?" she snapped, glaring at the screen, where the Cardassians destroyed one more fighter with a single shot.

Hearing the Commodore's Words and seeing the enemy move in for a closer kill, Vander needed to react quickly to this new order, it was apparent that all hell was breaking loose on the bridge and the Commodore seeing that all her comrads were being shot up in space and even her ship was being torn up was not the likeliest of options. The Chief Engineer Halthor at his station bringing up tactical station braught up all power to weapons and shields.

"Initiating Sequence, all power diverted to shields and weapons, we are weapons ready, commencing fire on the Cardassian frigate." halthor replied. After the power was routed the minerva module sent out a beam horde that would knock out the Cardassians impulse and weapons for good. "Two distinct areas have been taken out, by the sequence fire, commodore, the cardassian ship is defenseless and remotely incapable of getting anywhere. If you wish i can trigger beams to fire one more shot causing there ship to overload and explode." Vander replied.
[yellow]<tag Sonak>[/yellow]
"Yes, Commodore they are defenseless, and cant go anywhere, if you like we can even send a message to the enemy ship telling them to surrender to the United Federation of Planets, but we all know they wont follow that code, but its worth a try anyway."

Feeling Fox's stare at the back of his neck, Byrne punched in a series of commands. Watching the scenarios, he programmed the Main Deflector Dish to swing back around and gather a few small asteroids in a tractor beam and use them as a "flyswatter" against the Cardassian ship attacking the Minerva Module and clearing a path to rescue An and his fighter.
Redirecting the ship, he ordered Fox to open the ventral cargo bay to catch the fighter. Rounding about, he watched the Minerva getting pummeled with phaser fire.
Using the tractor beam, he lead the minor asteroids into a small barrier between the aliens and the main module. Shooting a reassuring glance to Jatan, Logan started the maneuver.

The grueling task of keeping the sensors in working order started to take its toll on the Doctor, who was growing increasingly impatient at the science station. With Cardassian ships flying all around, and trying to track them all due to the lack of a sufficient science aboard the Minerva section, Marco couldn't help but wonder if other Doctors were required to modulated multiphasic outputs, or switch harmonics on the shields. Again, grueling and tedious.
"External sensors are operating at near peak efficiency..." thanks to his proficient work. He doubted anyone else on the bridge would have been able to keep up with all the maneuvering going about.
"I am attempting to get readings on life support, but our internal sensors have a small glitch." D'Angelo compensated for the glitch the best he could, but there was still only enough data to confirm that the life support systems were indeed online, and sustaining life.
"I can't tell if they are damaged, or even how bad, but nobody is at risk." The mere fact that none of the backup life support systems had turned themselves on yet attested to that fact.
"Our shield's phase rotation isn't holding, so I'm going to switch to a hyperbolic rotation. Adjusting the Riemannian metrics now." The benefit of being the top of his class, was that he was not just proficient in medicine, but all of the background mathematics involved in his studies.
"That should do it, but I suggest not making any inverted loops, or we might loose cohesion at the poles of the manifold space." he pointed to the screen, but his finger jolted as the ship jerked. "Or... just keep us alive, either way..." Marco's calmness throughout the ordeal was not settling to the rest of the bridge crew, and showed that there was another level to the Doctor that wasn't completely understood.

Anthony An’s eyes opened slowly, focusing on bouncing spheres of vomit and blood floating around the fighter’s cockpit. He caught the movement of something big pass by his window.
“Cardassian…Federation…asteroid…meteoroid? Don’t care…can’t concentrate…where am I? Father…?”
An dreamed of the last time he flew with his brother Paul and his best friend Tito aboard the Dark Knight. An received the news that his best friend Tito died three weeks after transferring to the USS Hepta. An had not heard from his brother since joining Starfleet.
“Paul, let’s surrender, they have us!” An said as the Dark Knight shuttered under constant phaser fire.
“Shut-up! Watch the shields!” Paul, An’s younger brother yelled back, jigging the Knight through blasts. “Tito will get us to warp! We got to keep moving! The patrols won’t catch us if he kicks in the drive!”
An shut off all non-essential power and life support to juice up the shields. He called down through the grilled decks to engineering, “I’m out of ideas, Tito! We got to get out of here or surrender!”
Tito laughed, too hard. Being under pressure made him crazy. “I want to eat that salt vampire right in front of those M-113 guys!” An heard more hysterical laughter, but from Paul this time. Their sense of humor seemed to kick in at the worst times.
Why did these M-113 guys have to steal from the Daystorm Institute Archaeological Council? Why did Paul and Tito want gold-pressed latinum for this vampire thing? Couldn’t the Federation grab it? Who cares about latinum?
Paul throttled again, looping back to their attackers. Dodging through mixed patrol-fighters, he accidentally skipped the Knight off the wing of one fighter before it detonated.
“What was…Shields are gone!! We’ve los…”
Due from fading inertial dampeners, An flew from his station and hit against the bulkhead. He woke up with Paul and Tito laughing at him.
“We’re at maximum warp somewhere,” Tito laughed.
“Can’t get a good reading for some reason,” Paul added sarcastically and helped up his older brother.
Smiling, the now Starfleet Ensign half-woke from his dream, watching tiny bloody spheres float from his mouth.

"Get a lock on the occupants of that fighter," Mark Harper ordered as he descended to his seat on Mercury. "Decloak and beam them aboard, then re-initialise cloak. Prepare to set course for the Cardassians and join the fight."
Commander Mark Harper sank into his seat, frowning at the main screen of the secondary Vesuvius module. Earlier, he had watched Logan take Discordia in a very unorthodox and dangerous move, through Minerva. Sensors showed that chunks of the asteroid had been knocked off, but the module was still in danger and pretty much unmaneuverable with just thrusters to operate on.
Additionally, the module was taking severe enemy fire and it didn't look as though they had much shields to defend themselves. "Are they aboard yet?"
"Yes sir," Ensign Danielle Connors, "EMH activated promptly on their arrival. I'm about to go down there to check on them."
"If he's able, get Ensign An up on the bridge. I want his expert opinion on Minerva;s current antics. From the looks of things, our dear commodore has lost her marbles. Engaging the enemy like this is asking for destruction." The human nightwatch officer creased his brows in worry. "They're Cardassians...her and them don't go together, that's a well known fact. I hope whoever's with her on the bridge does his best to contain her."
"Yes sir," Connors answered, then headed down to sickbay. "How is he?" she asked the EMH, watching the female hologram tend to two apparently lifeless people.
"Ask him yourself," the EMH replied, motioning towards An, "he's barely conscious but patching up nicely. He's good to go in a few minutes, by my estimate." She smiled sadly. "His co-pilot however, there's nothing I can do for him."
Connors moved over to An. "Ensign, if you're up to it, Commander Harper requires your assistance on the bridge. Minerva's in trouble and we need your help."
Meanwhile, Harper watched Minerva closely on the viewscreen. "Why aren't they cloaking?" he wondered aloud, "why are they wasting energy on shots that should better go into stealth?" He tapped out a rapid sequence on the console beside his seat. "Minerva this is Harper aboard Mercury. Is everything all right overthere?"
~~
"Now is not a good time Mark," Sonak snapped back, about to close the channel and concentrate on the battle ahead.
=^= I'd like to hear that from someone else on the bridge ma'am=^= Harper replied =^=you don't sound too good, and from what I can see overhere, you're not in your right mind either=^=
"Careful commander," Sonak warned as she fell back in her seat when Minerva was assaulted by disruptor fire again, "you are leaning towards insubordination and mutiny. However I shall let you talk to Commander Halthor, while I concentrate on doing as much damage to the Cardassians as I can."
The Vulcan motioned for the Andorian's attention, while she stepped up to the tactical console. "I will take over Thorad, you can take a brief rest now." She nudged him aside, taking over control of the console, directing all available power to weapons and shields, including life-support. Another Cardassian vessel exploded under the continuous bombardments from the damaged Starfleet module, but more Cardassians were moving in.
She watched the fighters dart forward and retreat between the asteroids, doing their own damage to the enemy, but they were outnumbered, and half of their squad was already destroyed. One fighter went straight for one of the enemy vessels, showing a blinding explosion as it drilled itself into the vessel's unprotected hull. "D'Angelo, tell me there was no-one aboard that fighter," she demanded, "tell me one of the other modules got the occupants out before that?"

At first her gentle voice thundered in his ears. A light burned into Ensign An’s slowly opening eyes. Where am I? The Day of the Lord…Dark Knight…wait, Hepta…no, Vesuvius.
A silhouette floated over to his side, “Ensign, if you’re up to it, Commander Harper requires your assistance on the bridge. Minerva’s in trouble and we need your help.”
“My help? What happened? Why am I here?” An asked, holding his head, straining his mind as he sat up. The silhouette materialized into a beautiful woman standing at his bed side. As Ensign Danielle Connors explained what happened to him, painful images and fear soaked his memory.
“Tosk?” An begged, “Where’s Tosk?” He looked around sickbay as Connors moved to hold his shoulders. An swept past her, frantically searching the quite infirmary for his co-pilot. In an emptied room, he found a body covered over with a reflective blanket. He reached over and snatched down the cover, seeing Tosk’s lifeless face.
Crying, the ensign fell to his knees. “What have I done?” An wept, “I’m sorry, Mr. Tosk…”
Slowly, An got up and stood at his bedside. He checked over his shoulder and saw he was alone before praying over him. “The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
“Father, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Your Son is the Resurrection, and the Life. Return, O LORD, deliver his soul and make thy face to shine upon him. Save him for thy mercies’ sake.”
An covered Tosk’s face, turned and kneeled, praying, “Father, thank thee for thy grace and mercy. Thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life. Stay merciful to me, a sinner.”
The ensign stood up and walked toward the exit. As he stepped from Tosk’s room, he ran into Connors. “Thank you very much for your help, ma’am, I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me and Mr. Tosk. Sorry about running around in here, I didn’t mean to panic like that.”
An reached up and tapped his combadge, relieved to hear the computerized chime again. “Commander Harper, this is Ensign An. I’m on my way to the bridge.”

Watching the Mercury catch the small fighter, he commed the Mercury to establish the status of An and his co-pilot.
Hearing the bad news about Tosk, he redirected the Discordia Module in an intercept course between the Minerva and the Cardassians.
Having Fox lock the weapons systems on the unprotected ship, he engaged the cloak system. As they were about to pass over the ventral section of the enemy vessel, Logan dropped the cloak and used the landing gear section to solidify within the engineering section of the Cardassian ship, ripping out the nacelle control center of the ship and tearing off the most bottom deck of the Discordia.
