The Vesuvius had spent a few more days docked with Bellicose, allowing for the crew to finally experience their much deserved shoreleave, while maintance crews saw to the upgrades required to the engines, the separation system and the cloaking devices.
Sonak had remained on the bridge, overseeing the repairs and upgrades from there. Looking down at the latest crew reports, she was pleased to note that a new chief engineer was due to arrive anytime now. "An Andorian," she noted, glancing around at Thorad. "Besides you, I have never had an Andorian on my senior staff, let alone one in engineering."
Thorad's antennae twitched in bemusement. "There aren't many Andorian engineers ma'am," he answered, "most enter marine or security positions. The Andorians are warriors, as you should well remember."
And remember she did. She frowned as another report came through. "Ah, now this is good news," she sighed, "Admiral Elron has finally been rescued. You will remember Commander Kanz? She just sent me the report, I am so relieved to hear this." Along with the latest news, however had also come their latest orders.
"Bridge to all senior staff, report back to the Vesuvius. We have received new orders. All report to the briefingroom in one hour1"
~an hour later~
"You all are aware of the system upgrades we have received, the engines in particular. Our new orders are to head to the Alcor System, which is surrounded by a dense asteroid field. Our orders are to test the ship's new maneuvreability and report back how our upgrades are working. Starfleet is considering implementing them to the rest of the fleet, but as we are a fairly new ship in regards to ship class and capability, we are their test subject for the upgrades."
She nodded to the new chief engineer. "Our new chief engineer, Commander Vander Halthor, shall be overseeing these tests. Any questions?"

Marco dragged himself into briefing room, for what seemed like the one hundredth time during his short tenure as the Chief Medical Officer for the past year.
The Commodore tauted the new system upgrades, of course neglecting Marco's request for upgraded medical facilities. The Engines need this, the engines need that. It was always about the engines. And, undoubtedly, what will be the first thing to break down on any mission? The medical equipment? No! The engines! Of course, the squeaky wheel always gets the wheel, and the past engineers have been squeaky, not to mention the newest engineer, and Andorian. He stood to her side as he introduced him and asked if there were questions.
"I have one!" Marco said coyly, which caused Reckus to dip an eyebrow.
"Does he know how to deliver a baby?" He smiled as he nudged Logan. The Doctor's inflection rose on the question, giving the first officer some ribbing.
"I'll explain later," Marco said, still giving a little laugh to himself as he welcomed the new engineer.
"In all seriousness, I do have a question." Marco raised his hand to regain attention on himself, but quickly lowered his arm when his side throbbed in pain. His wounds were healed, but there was some residual pain due to the gash he had received. If he moved his arm the right way, say a raised arm, it would pull awkwardly and hurt.
"What is the radiation output of these new engines? If something goes wrong," 'it always does, he thought', "I would like to know what we will be dealing with."

Tovan, after yet another beating on the station was looking forward to resuming his duties. He did not share the human love for shore leave, and wanted to get under way again. Why was it that these "recreational activities" always ended in him always getting either soaking wet or unconsciousness? He would be sure to bring that up the next time the Commodore "requested" that Tovan join her and the rest of the crew on the holodeck.
Upon receiving the page, Tovan traveled to the briefing room and walked inside. He listened to Sonak's briefing on the new tests. Tovan was a little wary of working with the new Andorian chief engineer, since Andorians tended to be just as emotional as humans, and there was bad history between their two peoples going back to before Earth even had warp drive. However, resentment was an emotion, and thus irrelevant to Tovan. He foresaw no true problems in working with Commander Halthor.
After the doctor's question, Tovan raised his own question, "Have the guidance control systems been updated to account for the new engines? Or are they a part of the test?"

*Larok sat in on the briefing looking over the specs of the engine upgrades and something in the back of his mind began to bother him.*
Larok: I see there will not be a need for the Marines so I should have time to get the new teams sorted out. Along with my recent promotion Star Fleet has sent us additional troops brining us up to a full company. With this we also received 12 new shuttles; these are combat drop shuttles modified for medical evac and rescue operations. All of our new Marines are cross trained for Medical, Engineering and science support. I will provide the Engineering and Medical departments with a list of their specialties so they can be added to damage control and triage teams.

Security Chief Ensign Anthony An stood at the bottom of a mountain among thousands of people on a sunny day. Out of the thousands, a small band followed one man up the ridge. An ran to catch up, pushing his way through the crowd.
An caught up to the small assembly of people among the rocks. He looked back at the thousands of people gathered in the small valley below and turned back as their leader began speaking.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake…”
“Bridge to all senior staff, report back to the Vesuvius. We have received new orders. All report to the briefingroom in one hour!” ordered Commodore Sonak Reckus.
“Computer, end program,” An requested. The wind and sound momentarily froze and faded away, leaving a network of yellow grid lines decorating the ceiling and walls of the large black room. He picked up his guitar and Bible from the archway and left the holodeck for his quarters.
After praying at his bed, An showered and changed into his uniform. With one official mission already under his belt, he was very excited to start a new one. He almost ran down the corridor to the bridge.
Commodore Sonak Reckus informed the senior officers that they were headed for the Alcor System, a star system that is surrounded by a dense asteroid field, to test the ship's new maneuverability.
The Horse and Rider Binary. An remembered back to when he lived on Earth, starring up at Alcor, or 80 Ursae Majoris, in the constellation Ursa Major, through his telescope. Slightly over a quarter of a light year away, Mizar held its position as the second star from the end of the Big Dipper's handle. For hundreds of years, Earth astronomers could not decide whether Mizar and Alcor formed a true binary star system or an optical binary system.
She nodded to the new chief engineer. “Our new chief engineer, Commander Vander Halthor, shall be overseeing these tests. Any questions?”
An nodded to the new Andorian chief engineer, Commander Vander Halthor, but could not think of anything to personally ask him. He waited until after Dr. Marco D'Angelo and Tovan asked their questions. An asked the Commodore, “would we be able to use any of those asteroids for target practice during our maneuvers?”

The second she had stopped speaking, questions were fired at her from all directions. "Doctor, you would have to ask Commander Halthor about the radiation output. You are, I hope, acutely aware of the fact that I am a doctor by training, not an engineer." She nodded towards the Andorian, who so far hadn't said anything.
"I would assume that your controls have been recalibrated to account for the new engine output commander," she answered Tovan.
She wasn't entirely sure why Larok chose now to mention that new crafts had come aboard for the marines, since it didn't have much to do with their mission per sé. "You can have your marine detachement join in with the test maneuvres," she acknowledged, "new crafts require extensive testing before we can use them in combat. See to it." Then she smiled. "And before you move on, I have received yet another promotion for you. Starfleet has decided to promote you to Marine Major, as of today."
Sonak handed her Vulcan senior marine officer a little black box. "You are out of uniform major, see to it that you fix it."
"Are we going to use the asteroids for target practice?" An piped in.
"If you can keep up with Tovan flying the ship, certainly," Sonak answered. This caused the senior staff to chuckle and Sonak had a rough time keeping a straight face herself.
Minutes later, she sat down in the center seat with Logan seated to her right. "Lieutenant Thorad, clear all moorings. Commander Tovan, set course for Alcor. Engineering, get the upgrades initialised and inform sickbay of the new output as required. Fox, you will have a ball on this one. Asteroids are a wealth of information."
Her gaze settled on Ensign An. "And you keep your fingers away from the fire button until I tell you to," she chuckled, "you will have your fun later."

An asked the Commodore, “would we be able to use any of those asteroids for target practice during our maneuvers?”
“If you can keep up with Tovan flying the ship, certainly,” Sonak answered as the senior staff to chuckled. “Thank you, ma’am,” Ensign An answered, feeling half-embarrassed that his enthusiasm sneaked through his professional self-control. Yet, he could not wait to test the ship’s manual and computer-guided targeting abilities. Since receiving excellent targeting scores on the holodeck, An yearned to finally move on to the ship’s live phaser bank technology and pulse cannons, including quantum and photon torpedoes. An’s mind kept imagining tossing out couple hundred isotons of powerful energy from his fingertips.
After the meeting ended, the staff reported to their stations. The ensign assumed his position on the bridge. After the commodore gave her primary orders, preparing the Vesuvius for departure, An felt her eyes lay on him.
“And you keep your fingers away from the fire button until I tell you to,” she chuckled, “you will have your fun later.”
“Aye, aye, ma’am,” An responded, smiling in anticipation. An looked forward to viewing Earth and Jouret IV in both the observation lounge and the astrometrics lab. “I can’t believe I’m going to get to see Earth from the Big Dipper,” An thought in appreciation.

A good time to see what has changed in the system, make an updated chart." He smiled, thinking at all the valuable extra data they'd gain about this system. "I suggest if An does some target practice we beam up some of the debris for analyses." Sonak nodded. Fox turned back to his station. A lot of work was coming up and he loved the idea of that.

*Larok took the offered black box and opened it. Removing his Captains bars and pining on the gold oak leaf. Larok followed the senior staff onto the bridge, when a Yeoman from security approached and handed him a pad, looking at it Larok raised an eyebrow and handed the pad to the Commodore.*
Fox turned around from his science station and nodded at Sonak. "Good opportunity to test the sensor upgrades as well." he paused for a bit "And if I'm correct the Alcor system hasn't been visited by a vessel for a while. A good time to see what has changed in the system, make an updated chart."
Larok: It seems fleet intelligence left something out of the briefing for the Alcor system it seems the Cardasians have lost several ships in that area over the past 2 years. They seem to blame the Klingons but General Krok assures Admiral Arok that they have not had any ships in that area for quite a while. Commodore have you ever meat General Krok he is the older brother of Fleet Admiral Arok. I would suggest Mr. An keep a sharp eye on the new sensors and I would like to send in a couple of fighters to re con one light year ahead of us, or at a minimum keep them on ready launch status.

Halthor nodded to the request of the captain and listened in on the briefing knowing intently that the ship had to be fixed and some how some way it was going to be done with the crew or not going to be done by the crew, or just by his lonesome, but he needed to put his attention on the tasks and be attentive to what information was being relayed from the mission. As being newly assigned to the ship, he knew full well of the priorities that would unfold before him and the crew.
Halthor was rather intent on also gathering as much information about the crew as possible so he could be well acquainted with everyone, and have the data stored for future reference if need be. Seeing as he was a Andorian aboard the ship he also had to deal with the fact that other races and walks of life were present before him. He was not alone, Serving on the Olympia was an exciting adventure and now to be aboard a flagship meant that he had to keep his attention to detail that much more crucial and life important.

As Commander Byrne sat in the Briefing room, he was slightly uncomfortable with the assignment of the new CEO. Granted he pulled his own during the mission on the Star base. He was just a little anxious about a new crew member that would be babysitting the new installation of the modified warp cores.
Watching as the Commodore pacified the Doctor, he smirked about the mission reports that D'Angelo filed after the monster incident. And then nodded approval of the rank increase as Commodore Sonak handed Larok the little black box.
Following the group back to the Bridge, Logan sat and monitored the engine upgrade status reports with a paternal eye. As Sonak sat down, he moved the display screen from her line of sight, as to avoid any smart comments from her.
As Fox powered up his station, Byrne stood up and recommended that maybe the two of them would get a better look in the science labs behind the Main Deflector array. Excusing himself, he made a bee-line to the turbo-lift and headed for the quarters to evaluate the information he downloaded from the Bellicose Base prior to leaving the Star base. It may prove interesting.

Heading to Engineering after orders were given by the Commodore, Halthor was happy to be given the task of dealing with radiation output and helping the crew anyway he could in a time of uncertainty especially when asteroids were concerned. After completing his training on the Olympia, Halthor while on leave when to train up on some Engineering skills and develop the essentials of conquering a ships manual as well as fixing anything that had to do with any problem that would develop, so he had to be quick and thorough in his search, as well as use some common sense as anyone would but use a more mechanical mindset to help him in his endeavor.
After his training was complete, Halthor was successfully changed from his duty on the Olympia and put on the Vesuvius to perform to role as Engineering Officer. So he needed to do well with this new found position and not let his pride or his new skills arrise over the previous ones that he had. His main goal was to put his skills together in one new set of abilities where he could use them with extraordinary prowess.
Knowing full well of the hardship of a Engineering officer, halthor was thinking hard before he also chose it, but wanted to make it his skill as much his job, to help others as well as the ship. He liked ships, and loved what they could do for the people operating them. It was up to them to just push or pull the crank to perform the role on the ship to get it done.
Back to his duties, Halthor continued where he left off with a system analysis, checking through everything, as per orders of the commodore. Like the engine, power systems, shields, tractor, secondary power, main power, and warp. ' Halthor went over to the console then began a check, "Computer, Report on Engine systems"
The Computer reported fully functional. Then Halthor proceeded with the next check. This time the power systems reported at 87%.
"Perform Secondary power to reroute to power system, authorization alpha" Halthor ordered.
All checks were proceeding as planned and successfully, he rised a brow in amazement at the level the ship would be able to get things done at rudimentary levels.

"...always something going ... Wrong..." Marco's emitted as he jammed the lunch tray a final time into the waste regeneration unit.
"What?" Alice peered from around the corner, hearing the Doctor in distress.
"Oh.. nothing." the Doctor didn't realize anyone was in the room with him. "The tray wouldn't fit. I wish they would put a standard sized replication unit in here. It seems whenever I get my food on a tray from one replicator, I can never dereplicate it here.
"The system was modified." Alice said in a plain-as-day fashion.
"Probably by those damned engineers again. I'll tell ya, if Logan was still in charge of Engineering I would sock him right in th.."
"Actually, it was Commander Nack." She held her hand out at about chest high, giving insight on whom she was talking about by showing his height. "He fixed it one day to replicate microorganisms. To do it, he had to lessen the size, as the radiation levels needed to travel a shorter distance. Only slightly though." She smiled. Marco surely could appreciate it being modified for medical purposes, wouldn't he?"
"Well... I'm sure he got one of those engineering doofuses to do it." He was intent on finding a reason to not like engineering, as complaining clearly became a part of his nature as of late.
Alice shrugged. "I wasn't here when he did it. I just know that's what happened." She tried to exit the office quickly to get away from the boisterous doctor.
"Hold on there." he said, relaxing his mood. She turned around and walked back in, with a look on her face that asked 'am I in trouble?' without actually saying it.
"I want to apologize." he said, breathing in a heavy breath. "I've been really on edge lately, I'm sure you noticed?"
The lack of response in either acknowledgment or disagreement told Marco that he asked a question she was uncomfortable answering.
"I think it's due to the work load lately. In the last 6 months, I've been tortured, dragged through a starbase... well you were there for everything, I don't need to get into again."
She stayed silent, letting Marco get all of his thoughts and aggression out, like any good friend would.
"..I'm starting to think that maybe I should have stayed on the freighter. It was boring, but I was much more sure of myself than I am here."
A screen blipped next to him. Data started pouring. "Here are the radiation levels... normal for normal operation. If something goes wrong, it'll be a task to get everyone treated, but nothing I... we.. can't handle."
Alice smiled. It was all in a day's work when one was on a Starfleet vessel. Marco went to the small replicator. "Let's see what this thing can do." he said as he started to tinker with the programming.

“Commodore, I have the ship’s long range sensors peeled for any spacecraft, including Cardassian and Klingon,” replied An from the elevated tactical and security consoles, “after the Commodore, you’ll be first to know if I find anything, Major.”
From the elevated platform on which An stood, he could see all of Vesuvius’s operations. The stars raced across the main viewscreen in front of the conn and ops stations. Officers manned the command and control systems, checked and rechecking systems and running diagnostics. The atmosphere felt electric, yet everyone walked calmly across the bridge, focused on their work. Finally, An was on an official starship as an official officer.
In an hour, one of the ship’s department heads were scheduled to report to Ensign An about Vesuvius’s protocol. An had to be aware of all the department activities onboard. An expected most problems to occur on the holodecks, if anywhere and maybe some domestic disputes.

Continuing his duties in Engineering, Vander wanted to do some deck by deck checks of each systems operating potential to see what can or cant possibly go wrong and correct minor defiences in the ships operating systems as well as fix what ever arrised. From the Looks of his checks, Halthor found a defiency in the replicator system located in medical bay and some on various sections of the ship. Seeing that it was such a big problem, Halthor first wanted to go over to one of the replicator's in engineering to see if it was his own sector as well.
To his amazement it was in fact a crucial link stream that was spread all across the ship and nearby replicators were not performing adequetely with the necessary results, like producing food that was succeptable to be eaten and could be distinguished from other foods. So Halthor went tapped into the user interface and asked the computer for a system diagnostic on the replicator.
"Perform system check and make up for differential in lack of production as well as the difference in food coming through the replicator, do a complete clean and backup" Halthor responded and waited eagerly for the system to finish its busy task.
The screen printed the results and Halthor was satisfied with them, seeing as they were in the 100%. After carrying out his duty on the system check, Halthor remembered that he had somewhere to be, so he made his way to see Ensign An. Making his way to the Tactical office, Halthor made sure he was not lacking the information needed in his report.
Walking through the Tactical Area, Halthor had spotted the Ensign then made his way to him with eagerness.
"Ensign An, I presume, Nice to meet you, Im Commander Vander Halthor, Chief Enginnering Officer, newly assigned, as was requested by the commodore to meet you and get information about Vesuvius protocol, what do you have for me?"

Pleased with the responses from her senior staff, Sonak listened to An reporting that sensors were looking out for Klingon and Cardassian spacecraft. She stiffled a smile when she heard him tell the old Vulcan marine that he was the second to know if he found anything. Surely the young ensign knew that Larok was an experienced soldier with heightened senses? As a Vulcan, Larok probably heard the faint blips on the screen far before An ever would. Sonak however, also knew Larok would never profess to know anything before he was given the information, unless of course the safety of the ship and crew depended on us.
"Lieutenant Thorad, activate cloaking device," she ordered the Andorian at OPS. "Larok run drills for your marines across the three separate modules. An, join him with your security teams. You two will learn to work together and anticipate and predict eachother's moves." The Vulcan captain knew that Larok might protest that his duties lay on the bridge, guarding his captain's safety. "That was an order major," she added, spotting the other Vulcan's brief hesitation.
To her knowledge and as far as her memory served her, Sonak couldn't remember ever having had so many Vulcans on her senior staff. "Commander Tovan, ETA to Alcor?" she queried.
Then she tapped her combadge, just as Halthor crossed the bridge to speak with the security officer. "Sickbay, we may come across unwanted visitors. Have sickbay prepared for injuries just in case. Bridge out."
When Halthor finished speaking with An, she beckoned him to join her at the command level. "How are you progressing with installing the new systems?" she asked, ignoring Byrne's cough to get her attention. Byrne was possessive about the ship's engines as he had been her previous chief engineer. "If there is anything you need, I am certain Commander Byrne will gladly assist you."
"Me and Fox are about to inspect the science labs." Byrne protested but fell silent when his commanding officer merely glared at him.
"I am certain Commander Fox is capable of calibrating his own sensors and inspect his own laboratories with the aid of his science staff," Sonak countered, "your priorities, at the moment, lie with Commander Halthor and the engines." She sighed. "Besides, Fox needs to relieve Thorad at OPS when the lieutenant goes off duty. He can do his calibrations from there, and scan for anomalies out there in the asteroid field."

Tovan stepped down to the helm console after the meeting, and quickly called up the navigation software. A quick glance showed that the new guidance system was not extremely different from the old system, there were enough differences as to present a slight slow-down in a crisis with someone accustomed to the new system. He lay in a course for the Alcor system and engaged the warp engines.
As the ship flew away from Bellicose out on another mission, Tovan heard the Commodore ask for an ETA. "At current speed, we should arrive at the Alcor system in 15 hours 23 minutes, assuming that we do not need to take warp drive offline to accommodate the upgrades. If that becomes necessary, I will coordinate with Commander Halthor."
Tovan returned his attention to the new guidance system. After hearing the other officers discussing the potential combat for this mission, he wanted absolutely no delay if they were to enter a combat situation. That went for the other pilots on board as well.
=/\=Commander Tovan to all Flight Control personnel. We have recently received an upgrade to our engines. I want all those on helm rotation for any modules to examine and become proficient with the new guidance systems. Do so as your duties permit, but be ready by your next shift at the helm. Tovan out =/\=
Tovan himself called up some simulations and began practicing on the new systems. Strange, there was something.... No, he decided, that was just preliminary apprehension about the new mission. He really needed to crack down on his emotions.

"Commander Vander Halthor, we need to talk." Byrne said as he quickly ushered the commander from the Commodore's little meeting. Nudging him toward the lift, he decided to be civil and play nice with the new-blood on the ship. Entering the lift, he paused the lift between floors.
"Commander, I have read your record once we got back to order on our ship, but heed this, as you know I am the previous CEO here, as was my predecessor. And we both became the FO in time. I WILL be watching you. This ship is just as much my baby as it is the Commodore's. Only difference is, I know how it works.", Logan said showing a moderate grin.
"We work hard and play hard. I encourage creativity, I expect it. Just don't shoot me, okay?"
Reinstating the turbo-lift, they proceeded back down to the Engineering level. Entering the room, Logan stroked his fingers accross the consoles, remembering the rush of being here in full alert. Many of the ensigns and lts. looked up respectful of the Commander First Class.
Glancing out of the corner of his eye, Halthor asked the main question, "Sir, there are going to be stories told around here, aren't there?" Smiling, Byrne just kept walking towards his former office.
"You have no idea, Commander, may I call you Van?", asked Logan.

As Ensign An waited for each department head’s report from around the ship, he heard Commodore Reckus’s new orders.
“Larok run drills for your marines across the three separate modules,” the Commodore ordered, “An, join him with your security teams. You two will learn to work together and anticipate and predict each other’s moves.”
“Aye, aye, ma’am,” An responded. The security chief summoned his two security teams, Aleph and Beth, each with six personnel.
While An waited for further instructions from Larok, he saw the new commander approaching.
“Ensign An, I presume, Nice to meet you, I’m Commander Vander Halthor, Chief Engineering Officer, newly assigned, as was requested by the commodore to meet you and get information about Vesuvius protocol, what do you have for me?”
“It’s good to officially meet you, sir, and you presumed correctly,” An welcomed, reaching to shake Halthor’s hand, “I’m also newly assigned, considering this is my first mission aboard the Vesuvius. Department heads are required to report to me each hour on the status of their department, as in your case, Engineering. I need you to report to me directly or you can have someone else report to me in your stead. The PADD report will give me an update on all department members, whether they being cooperative, accommodating, noncompliant, or insubordinate, for example. I need to have all this information so I can file a criminal activity report later for review with the Commodore. Do you have any questions, sir?”

"No, you are right, he has not reported in yet for a medical exam." Marco replied to Alice, the head nurse. "Send him a notification."
"I've already sent the message in anticipation that you wanted Vander Halthor to report here. You also got a request from the Commodore to ready ourselves for casualties." She cringed.
Marco, surprisingly, took the news in stride. "Make sure all the medical kits are stocked throughout the ship. You can have the nurses do it when they are not busy. It's been quite slow around here."
"Are you ok?" Alice asked.
"Why do you ask?"
"Well, I just expected... more...," she thought how to phrase it, ".. more of a reaction to the news." She pushed up her shoulders, looking as if she was a turtle trying to retract into its shell for saying such a thing to the Doctor.
"I'm getting used to it. It would take a lot these days to surprise me on this ship." While that statement would most likely be proved untrue in the future, Doctor D'Angelo felt that the last year in his position had given him insight into the crazy workings of the USS Vesuvius. Surprises have been around every corner.
"Let me know when Halthor replies to the request. Until then, I'm going to reprogram the biobeds."

Fox had already walked to the turbolift when Byrne had made his suggestion. But turned around when a short silence fell. Now standing with his back to it he listened to what Sonak was saying.
A bit disappointed he walked back to the science station. He hadn't been to the labs for some days now. From his station he contacted the labs chief, ordering him to do an inspection of the labs. After that he started working on the sensors, making calculations how to align them perfectly for the tasks ahead.
After two hours his console beeped briefly. The lab chief had finished his inspection and send the report. Fox went over it quickly and turn from his station.
"Commodore?" he said. Sonak turned to him "Yes Commander?" she answered. "The science labs are in perfect shape and my staff is ready to analyse samples we collect when we have arrived." Sonak nodded "Thank you Commander."

The Commander nodded in agreement over the analysis the ensign took over the job and priorities as well as what rigors were to be taken. "Ensign, its clear you have quite the understanding of what to do and I believe that you'll do what needs to be done, in the case that we have any insubordination. Keep to your commands and stay on course, I like your attitude as well" The commander replied then made his way out to visit Commander 1st Class Logan Byrne.
Making his way there, he found that Byrne was just like him a CEO, but had more experience than he had in the area of engineering, so this was going to be quite the hastle if they were going to get in an argument and Halthor, knew only the necessary things about the ship, while Byrne on the other hand had the ships detail down to precise key analysis.
[green]"Commander Vander Halthor, we need to talk." Byrne said as he quickly ushered the commander from the Commodore's little meeting. Nudging him toward the lift, he decided to be civil and play nice with the new-blood on the ship. Entering the lift, he paused the lift between floors. [/green]
"Sure, what shall we talk about, if its about Engineering im all open to new ideas, and new suggestions." Commander Halthor commented
[green]"Commander, I have read your record once we got back to order on our ship, but heed this, as you know I am the previous CEO here, as was my predecessor.
[/green]
"Yes you may call me Van, and also keep in mind I wont try to endanger your ship because i know you put such hard work into it, why would I try to do that. Were on a mission of extreme importance to starfleet personnel and its our job to see out that we succeed in our efforts even if the ship were to get a ding in it, or we get a few invaders aboard that happen to take over." Vander suggested then nodded with the Commander.
"For now, im going to head back to Engineering and request that we head off to the Asteroid field at full speed. The ship that we are flying is reporting at record results and I believe once we reach the asteroid field we'll find whatever were looking for." Halthor noted then made his way to Engineering.
-In Engineering-
Halthor continued his check's, they all reported green across the board, then he touched his communicator. =/\=Commodore Sonak, Commander Halthor here, I'd like to request we proceed to the asteroid field with due haste. With your permission I'll engage the engines, all reports show green.=/\=

"By all means commander, engage the engines," Sonak replied, while rolling her eyes at Fox, who had taken Logan's place when he'd left the bridge. "I would have thought he would have done so by now," she whispered to her former first officer.
She nodded towards the Vulcan helmsman to lay in the course and engage the warp engines. She felt the ship shudder when she jumped to high warp. The Vulcan commodore sat back in her seat and enjoyed the spectacle of seeing the stars shoot by on the main viewscreen.
"You may retire to your laboratories now commander," she told Fox, "and see to the preparations of asteroid analysis yourself. Just, keep Logan away from them would you? He is bad enough wanting to be in engineering. I will bet he is a nuisance to Commander Halthor already."
As Fox rose, she beckoned Larok. "Status of the drills?" she asked, knowing that Larok wouldn't willingly leave the bridge, as his task was to guard his commanding officer and keep her safe. "Ensign An, how are your teams doing? How will they respond to Vector Assault Mode?"
As she listened to An, she felt the familiar shudder of the ship engaging her three phase cloaks. She smiled, Thorad had finally obeyed her order to engage the cloak again, after it'd been disengaged earlier.
Hours later, the Vesuvius approached the asteroid field. "Fox, get your sensors working," she ordered, "Larok, An, mix your teams and take the fighters out for maneuvrability practice."
She tapped her combadge. "Commanders Halthor and D'Angelo, report to the bridge and prepare for trial runs."
ooc: Tovan, do your thing buddy!

“Location of the Cardas…” The violent shaking of the Mercury section interrupted An’s order; due to a direct hit from the Cardassian’s phaser/disrupter. The Cardassian warship came under the separated Mercury section of the Vesuvius and opened fire, retargeting main engineering.
“Maneuver Samekh! Fire aft torpedos!” An called out as the helm instinctively barrell-rolled Mercury to starboard. The Minerva section swooped in destroying the Cardassian warship. The explosion shook the Mercury’s worn-down shields and a Bird-of-Prey crossed the main viewer. “Follow ‘em.”
Larok’s attacking swarm of fighters buzzed around the Bird-of-Prey like hungry locusts. As the Mercury approached, Larok’s team finished disabling the Klingons and maneuvered to safety, opening her for attack.
“Target Klingon Bird-of-Prey and fire!” The Klingon warship exploded, gyrating an ignited port nacelle toward the Discordia. A Jem'Hadar battle-cruiser hammered the Discordia section persistently. “Tactical, fire on the battle-cruiser and shields full portside!” An jumped from his seat and leapt to the tactical station, “Helm, get us between the nacelle and the Discordia, Maneuver Mem!” “We got 'em this time,” thought An.
The Mercury fired on the Jem'Hadar from starboard while Larok’s fighters kept the battle-cruiser’s sensors distracted. As Larok’s team covered the Jem’Hadar, An exclaimed, “Fighters, go for the eyes and run!!” An quickly calculated how long to engage the tractor beam on the spinning nacelle and smiled. An fired from the portside and watched the nacelle rotate end-over-end into the blinded battle-cruiser.
The collision ignited an immense explosion chased after Larok’s fighters. “Minerva, we need the fighters nested, now!” Both the Minerva and the Mercury deactivated their shields as the shockwave approached.
One by one the fighters waited under the Mercury, “Hold awhile longer, Tactical, we want them all…” As the last two fighters came within range, An ordered, “Raise shields!” The Mercury and Minerva shuddered fiercely due to the extended shields as the Discordia warped to safety. Larok’s fighters found refuge in Minerva and Mercury’s shields.
“Squadron leader to Mercury,” all fighters accounted for. “Congratulations everyone, that was awesome,” An applauded. The Commodore’s voice soon followed. “Ensign An, how are your teams doing? How will they respond to Vector Assault Mode?” asked Reckus. “The teams are doing very well,” stated An, “we lost the Discordia once, but that was two sessions ago. We have all three sections in one piece and lost no fighters this time. Computer, save program.”

"We are approaching the asteroid field, Commodore," Tovan reported as the status display ticked town to 4 AU. "Dropping out of warp." Tovan heard the warp drive disengage, as the ship dropped to sublight velocity. Tovan looked over to Thorad, who was coordinating the launch of the fighters from the shuttlebays. As the last of the fighters move into the asteroid field, Thorad reported, "All fighters away, we are ready to proceed."
"Take us in, Commander," Sonak ordered.
"Aye, Commodore."
Tovan, keeping an eye on the sensors, worked the impulse and thruster controls carefully, making sure to avoid a collision. With the phase cloak engaged, a collision would not impact the hull, but it was always best to stay in practice, and to not risk a loss of the cloaking field. However, Tovan had been reviewing the new engine upgrades, and he had noted an expected drop in performance with the cloak engaged. The performance that he was getting seemed to agree with those expectations.
He turned and explained the situation to Commodore Reckus, and suggested that they deactivate the cloaking device. Sonak agreed and nodded towards the tactical console, as Tovan checked once more for collisions.
Suddenly, the collision alert klaxons rang out. Tovan looked up just in time to see a boulder materialize in the bulkhead just to the right of the viewscreen. "Look out!" he yelled, as the boulder broke loose and hurtled back over the bridge. Officers dove out of the way as it crashed back and smashed into some aft consoles, shooting smoke out onto the bridge.
