"I have considered that." he replied, when in fact, he hadn't. This Galwyn officer was pretty good.
"I was also thinking about creating some sort of holographic emitter to attach to it, so it would appear as a nodule or other organ.: Nack was a whiz in quick triage medicine, but even a bigger whiz at holographic technology. Boy, the stories he could tell ",but... now that you have shown confidence in my idea that her biochemistry wouldn't be recognized easily, I think I'll use that approach. It will save us a lot of time."
He thanked Tiana and left with the miniaturized beacon.
His indicator on his padd flashed that Mr. Sharp, the new CTSO was docking. "Ah perfect!" he said out loud. He pointed at his padd when a passerby looked at him goofy. "The new Chief of Security is here!" Clearly, others weren't as excited.
Arriving in the shuttlebay, he found it empty. The on-duty lieutenant explained that Mr. Sharp had already made his way to visit the Captain.
"Hmph." Nack liked to be the first to welcome new crew. After all, he was the officer in charge of personnel. "So be it." and he turned to pay a visit to Captain Cir'Kem.
Arriving on the bridge, he made a short wave to Commander Matthew, who was busy doing a good job manning the operations station.
In the ready-room, he found Commander Sharp, the new Chief of Security, talking of his impending away mission.
"I don't remember clearing that, Commander." he said, worried that the Captain might have just had someone invite himself onto the away mission, and accidentally thinking that Nack approved it without discussing it with her.
"There is a very long laundry list of ship operations you need to apprise yourself of. I suggest you stay."
The Captain assured Nack that the security officer could come along. It was very out of the ordinary, but Nack let it go. Rumor would later be started that Starfleet sent Sharp purposefully for this mission, but it would also be just that, a rumor. No, the boldness of Robert Sharp to include himself so early on a mission was boldness alone. As long as he protected the Captain, it would be ok.

Nika received a little advance warning that Sharp's shuttle was docking with the Victory, before he entered her ready room and ended her conversation with Lieutenant Townes. Nika thought she recognized the look in Sharp's eyes, though, and if she was right she wouldn't need to hear the answer from Townes.
“Captain I will escort you over to the Breen ship I couldn't ask one of my men to volunteer for this mission and as the ctso it is one of my duties is to protect the captain.”
“You don't have to ask,” Nika replied. “I'd asked the officer for you.” It might seem petty, but it was actually a very important distinction in Nika's mind. Because she wasn't entirely sure how she felt about having Commander Sharp along. She was sure he was a good officer, but she'd never worked with him before. And she didn't much like sending half the senior staff off the ship. On the other hand, she understood what the situation would be if he was left behind. Especially if anything did go wrong. “You don't want to settle in first? Fine. We'll leave in approximately 15 minutes. Meet me in the shuttlebay.” Then Lieutenant Davis notified her that the Breen were on the screen. “Wear your dress uniform,” Nika added, before quickly dismissing Commander Sharp and entering the bridge in time to hear the tail end of the Breen ambassador speaking.
“It's her presence,” Nika said. “And I've decided. We'll be there as soon as we can. Transmit the coordinates whenever you wish.” With that, the channel closed, and one of the science personnel informed Nika that they'd received the coordinates from the Breen. Nack had arrived on the bridge, and Nika fully intended to take advantage of his presence. Both to ask him a question and to allow Russell to leave the bridge without leaving the bridge bereft of a senior officer's presence.
“I hope Lieutenant Galwyn has finished the device you wished her to make?” Nika asked. “And that we'll either have three, or one will be sufficient to use to lock onto all members of the away team. In case of an emergency.”
<Nack>
Nika watched Nack, then turned to Lt. Davis. “Can you join me in my ready room?” she asked.
A few moments later, Nika finished giving Davis a very similar speech to the one she had given Lt. Townes, and was similarly waiting for an answer as to whether he was willing to join her on the Breen ship.

Tiana was just able to run her final tests on the prototype subdermal locater before the First Officer made off with it It seemed to be working well. Tiana reasoned that the Captain probably wouldn't be going on an away mission to a Breen ship on her own so after checking that the rest of her team were getting on okay. She made the final adjustments to the specs for the device.
She then sent a message to Commander Nack so he would be aware that the upgrades had been made.
Just then Tomal cursed, Tiana didn't understand enough Romulan to know exactly what he was saying but she understood the sentiment. She hurried to the ensign's side. "what's happened?" Tomal gave a heartfelt sigh before replying. "The Julienne seems to have disappeared. She was supposed to arrive at Starbase 171 four hours ago but she hasn't and there has been no signal from the ship."
Tiana thought for a moment, they couldn't go dashing off to follow warp trails but there had to be something else they could do.
"Back track the Julienne's course all the way to Skylark and find any ship that came close to her." Tomal nodded and set to work.
Tiana sighed again and slumped into a chair, all this data sifting was hard work. They still had to find th Julienne, find out who had hired her for this expedition and of course find the ambassador. Tomal and Martha seemed to be newly refocused on the hunt of the Julienne so Tiana joined Wilson and Patience who were going of the sensor records frame by frame.

“It's her presence,” Nika said. “And I've decided. We'll be there as soon as we can. Transmit the coordinates whenever you wish.” Russell looked at the view screen and though the Breen showed ‘or would show’ anger, the Breen indicated to someone off screen before the channel closed. The captain asked Russell to join her in her ready room walking with Nika Russell listened to her proposal.
Russell was not too surprised when the captain asked him if he wanted to join her on the away mission, after all she may need someone able to read people. “Yes Captain, I will join you when you go to the Breen. But I must remind you that the Breen are a hard people to read in the normal sense and we have little knowledge of their bargaining methods so this will not be an easy trip.” Russell had no doubt the captain had already realised this but he felt he should mention it. “Who will be the other to join us?” Russell wanted to know so he had a good idea of any reactions he should expect from the other. As the Captain replied he thought it was a silly question as he had seen the new CTSO walk into her ready room. “Well I will meet you at the shuttle then” with this Russell left to sort out a few things before he left the Victory.
<Tag Captain>
Arriving at his office he looked at the pile of paper work that had gathered, wishing he had an assistant to look after things while he was away he made a mental note to make a second request for a assistant. Picking up a few reports to read over on the way to the Breen ship he quickly made his way over to his quarters to change into his dress uniform before checking his chest was secure under his bed. Walking calmly to the shuttle bay he noticed Commander Sharp in his dress uniform. “hello Commander Sharp, I hope you had a easy journey from the Jefferson, I am Lieutenant Russell Davis the ships counsellor, but call me Russell as I hate ranks really” Russell felt starting a conversation would be best “so you are not even here for an hour and you are off again, I hope you understand this will undoubtedly be a boring trip to you but I want you to remember the captain’s safety comes first over my own if you get what I mean” Russell would not have said this in front of the Captain as she would have differed ‘the ship needs her captain, it just helps to have her counsellor as well’.

Sharp exits the captains ready room and heads to the turbo lift "deck 8" the lift heads to deck 8 and stops there. Sharp exits and heads to-words his quarters. He enters his quarters and changes into his dress uniform. He hides a phaser in the heel of his boot. and exits his quarters. Sharp does not like wearing his dress uniform it feels uncomfortable. "main shuttle bay."
Sharp enters the shuttle bay and is waiting for the captain to show up. A Lieutenant enters and introduces himself as Lieutenant Russell Davis the ships counselor. Sharp thinking to himself great i hope this counselor hasn't gone off the deep end like the last 2 i have served with. The LT. notices that Sharp has this worried look.

Nack chuckled to hide his uneasiness to the Captain. "Yeah, this is it." He was reluctant to give it up. Doing so would concede that she would be going on the away mission.
After noticing Nack was fumbling with someone, and realizing it was most likely the tranport device, Nack handed it over. It took a bit of a tug from the Captain to disengage it from the Ferengi's hands, but with force it broke free.
As Nika asked if it would transport everyone off the ship, Tiana's communique came through suggesting it did.
"Yeah, Captain. I figured you would want such requirements built into the system." Had he told the truth, he would have admitted it was Lieutenant Galwyn's ingenuity that thought of the implications of the device. Alas, he persisted his thoughtfulness.
"It only needs to be in one of you, as long as you are within an eight foot proximity and are not Breen." he jokingly looked up and down the Captain, as if he was pretending to check for the lack of her Breen-ness, "only you will need to be implanted with the device." The chance they would take on known physiology, such as terran, woudl be too great. Captain Cir'Kem would be the only one to sport the new device.
"I'll be on the bridge if you need me." he called over his shoudler, as the Captain and counselor made their way off the bridge. The Captain seem to already expect this, as Commander Nack's statement ended shortly after the doors closed behind them.
Nack turned to the on-duty operations officer, Mr. Matthews. "perhaps you should remind them to get this implanted before they leave."

Nika took the device from Nack, surprised to find that, after pointing out that he had it, he was resisting now. Nika didn't know if Nack was consciously aware of it or not, but it didn't take much more than a tug to disengage the device from his hands. Once she had it she had to drop by to briefly bother Lieutenant Galwyn into applying the upgrades to the spec. Nika didn't stay any longer than she had to, before she was headed to sickbay to get Dr. Kapoor to install the implant.
Fortunately Dr. Kapoor was good at what he did, and was able to install it quickly enough. Nika was apparently in surgery when Commander Matthew chose to contact her about making sure she had the implant put into her, as Dr. Kapoor told her about it once she had gained consciousness. She acknowledged the order, and hung around for five enforced minutes while Dr. Kapoor monitored how the implant had taken, and that there weren't any negative side effects. There weren't, but Nika could tell that the doctor was dissatisfied that she was leaving now. But she couldn't really let him monitor her reaction as long as he wanted, because that meant she would have been on the Breen ship by tomorrow, at the earliest.
Getting out of sickbay took some work, but not much, because Dr. Kapoor understood that Nika had a job to do, and she wasn't going to be dissuaded from doing it. Nika hurried to her quarters to change, and was on her way to the shuttle, it being only twenty minutes since she'd told Davis they needed fifteen. She could get a lot done in a short amount of time when she felt a pressing need to do so. All she needed to do was learn to channel adrenaline better, and her paperwork would take so much less time.
Nika met Davis and Sharp outside the shuttle, and the three officers headed into the shuttle. “Do either of you want to pilot, or should I?” Nika asked. She'd spent a lot of her spare time, in fact, most of it, especially when they'd been on shore leave on Assailant, for the two years brushing up on the basic piloting skills she'd learned back at Starfleet Academy. So now Nika knew enough that she could sit in the piloting seat and take over if the computer failed or couldn't handle a situation. Still, Nika had found it easier to gain such limited abilities than to face her family's obvious disappointment. Sometimes it was simpler to just give in.
Once they were all seated in the shuttle, leave was requested from the Victory to undock. This was usually just a formality, but Nika knew very well that Nack had the power to simply not open the shuttlebay doors, trapping them all inside. And Starfleet regulations would favor that decision. She hoped Nack had more sense than that, though.

Tiana was still going through the data she and her team had amassed about the Julienne when the Captain arrived to get the latest version of the subdermal implant. The prototype would have worked but the Mark 2 would allow them to lock on to anything living and non Breen within a metre and a half radius of the Captain. It also had a small dose of diboron in it, a rare but harmless material that would enable them to track the Captain even if the implant were removed.
Tiana realised that she had no idea who was going to be accompanying the Captain on this venture so she took the opportunity to ask.
Tiana hadn't realised that Commander Youngblood's replacement, Commander Sharp had arrived and would be one of the three people going to the Breen ship. The other person was Russell. Tiana's breath caught for a second when she heard that, of course it made perfect sense for the Captain to take her counselor with her during a difficult talk as this was guaranteed to be. Tiana swallowed hard as the Captain left the lab, she was worried about Russell and trying to pretend that nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. She noticed that Martha was looking at her curiously. Tiana looked away and went to get yet another mug of coffee.
Tiana settled back at her workstation and went over what had been achieved so far. There hadn't been a lot of progress on the Julienne but Patience and Wilson seemed to be getting somewhere with the unscrambling of the sensor readings from Skylark

--USS Victory (Russell)
Russell looked at Commander Sharp and saw that he looked worried, but before Russell could comment on it the captain arrived. “Do either of you want to pilot, or should I?” Russell had very little flying experience and the most he got from the academy was a note that his flying skills were the same as a primate, not wishing to crash into the side of the victory’s hanger, “umm, I think I will avoid flying for now, I have much to read on the Breen before we arrived” it was a weak excuses but none of them would have argued against it ‘and the new CTSO would probably broken into laughter had I said yes’.
As Russell settled in to the shuttle he listened as Nika requested leave to depart, he had thought that Nack might try a last ditch effort to stop the Captain from going and this would be his last chance.
--
--Breen Warship Tria
As Ambassador Vol moved from his chair to the nearby officer, “I want a communication sent to the other ships, message begins, if a few hours a federation shuttle will approach, under no circumstance are they to fire on it unless attacked, and they will also remain cloaked.” the office nodded as he processed the message to be sent. Vol was still furious that he had only been given 2 other warships as escort, his own was no longer able to fight well as most of the crew had been replaced with novices. As he stepped back to his command chair he watched as the other war ships that up till the disappearance of the federation ambassador had been circling at a distance his own ship to ensure there was no double cross.
Vol then turned to his officer of defence and could only hope that his young mind would be able to deal with such a ‘difficult’ order. “I want to have confirmation that the approaching shuttle has only 3 life signs and there are no weapons aboard, when this is confirmed then I want our shields lowered until they are aboard then raise them again, but do not shut down the transport blockers as if this is a federation trick I want some heads for it, and if it is not then I may be next.” Vol with this turned to his consol and continued to read the reports that he had received from the other warships ‘this federation cargo ships are mad, they leave a port … this Skylark of theirs and after travelling in a straight line for a few light years changes it course 7 times for no reason, they must think there are spies everywhere’ chuckling to himself he continued to read finding little of interest.
OOC: from now on my post will be broken as so, with Russell’s part first and the ambassador’s post afterwards in Blue. If there are any problems reading the colour please PM me and I will adjust it to a new colour

"Open the shuttle bay doors." Nack commanded to the ensign sitting at the helm. He had an inclination to forcefield the entire room, but to what end. The Captain would simply override his decision, and reprimand him afterward. Commander Nack was finally getting the hang of the politics of being a first officer. It was daunting for a Ferengi to learn such things, especially in a non-Ferengi world. Being raised human helped, but even the best of pets raised by humans never amount to their standards. At least Ferengi women could somewhat function in society.
"Shuttle bay doors are open, Captain. You are clear for takeoff." The main viewscreen showed the ship leaving the shuttlebay, causing the forcefield in place to shimmer. The doors subsequently closed behind it when it cleared the plane.
On the bridge, the science station blipped periodically, showing the Captain's position, medical stats, and proximity to others. The count was 2... 2 others. They, however, would need to remain close to the Captain at all times, lest they did not wish to return in an emergency. He knew Davis had the sense to do so, but after just meeting Sharp... he still didn't have an accurate basis for accepting the new recruit to the ship. If Nika thought he was ready, he was ready, Nack told himself.
Nack sat in the Captain's chair, thumbing through the ergonomic controls.
Commander Matthews spoke. "Long range sensors show the shuttle approaching an incoming ship. Should I alert them?"
"Negative, commander." Nack was being tactful for once, instead of flying by the seat of his pants. "We don't want the Breen to think we are conspiring with the shuttle against them. Let them go on their own." Hopefully the showing of trust meant something to this cold tempered race.
The flashing indicator on the operations panel disappeared, signifying that the shuttle was swallowed into a docking bay. "They have arrived."
"Thank you commander." The science station still let out a rhythmic pulse.
"Please alert me if there are any unusual readings, or the shuttle starts heading back. Until then, we just play the waiting game."

As the shuttle began to dock Russell was thinking how many ways they could insult the Breen and beings as they knew little of the Breen it was very possible that they will do it anyway. “Captain, Commander, I would suggest that we be fairly careful while we are with the Breen” Russell felt that it was necessary to state this rather than leaving them to believe that the situation was not volatile. As Russell watched the door open he saw 3 Breen standing at the bottom of the ramp waiting for them, Russell could not work out which was the ambassador if he was even here.
Vol looked as the three federation officers moved down from their shuttle, as he step forward the two security officers next to him moved as if to stop him, ignoring them he began to speak to the federation officers “Welcome Captain, I am Fleet Commander Kol, welcome aboard my ship, the Tria. I am also the ambassador to your federation.” Kol listened as each of the officers introduced themselves. “I am sure you have much you need to do, we have set aside a set of quarters for you. When you are ready I will meet you in my office” Kol with this pointed the officers to show the federation officers to their quarters.
Russell did not feel the need to re-introduce himself but he was shocked to find that the ambassador was not only the captain of the ship but of a fleet of ships. As the two Breen indicated to follow them he turned to Commander sharp “well that went well, I think”.
As Kol reached the bridge he was handed the scanner report for the federation officers, 2 humans and one whose race they had not encountered, ‘well this could complicate things’ they seemed to have no weapons, nor any transmitters. Pleased with the report he moved onto the report on the ship they had come from, it seemed that the ship itself was not really the federations most advanced technology so if it came to a fire fight their two ships should be able to deal with them if necessary, Kol was unwilling to start a war but if they made a aggressive step he would be victorious. “you, send a coded message to our other ships to continue to monitor the federation ship, should it approach us or attempt to calling in addition ships they are ordered to subdue the ship and if necessary destroy them.” Kol did hope the federation would push him into firing as he was not going to start the war but he would ensure the battle was in the breens favour.

Nika took the offer of quarters without comment, though she hadn't necessarily planned on staying quite so long as to require quarters. It was certainly a courtesy, no matter how long they would be staying, for them to both receive them right away and be allowed to settle into them. Along with everyone donning environmental suits (that seemed to be less than entirely useless, given that the Breen seemed to stay in their own), Nika had made Sharp leave the phaser behind. Although it wasn't the worst weapon he could have brought, bringing any weapons at all to a Breen ship seemed like an invitation to not be heard from again.
She was seeing some signs of trust coming from the Breen, which was very pleasing, given how much trust Nika was putting in them. The Breen officers waited outside the group of Federations' quarters. Nika didn't expect that much from the Breen, which let her be pleased by the little things. Which she felt was a better attitude to have.
Nika looked around the quarters she'd been given. They seemed to be comfortable enough. She wasn't really investigating that closely, just trying to get a general feel for the room she would be staying in. For all she knew there would be flags sent to the Breen if she tried to do anything too advanced in looking at the room. And she had started her career in Starfleet in science, so she might be able to think of a few things. Better not to, though.
She didn't take long before she was ready to meet with Lieutenant Davis and Commander Sharp, so they could be escorted to the Breen Fleet Commander's office. Lieutenant Davis was ready right away, and Nika knocked on Sharp's door. She suspected he was at least a little upset that she hadn't let him keep the phaser, especially since the Breen hadn't done any physically visible search, but Nika felt sure that was the correct choice. She just didn't know the Commander enough to factor him easily into her predictions of how well the meeting with the Breen would go.

As soon as Sharp enters his quarters he pulls out a small scanning device and scans his quarters and finds a few bugs. Sharp removes the bugs and destroys them. Sharp knew the breen couldn't be trusted. they are up to something and could the security reports he saw before he left the Jefferson be true that the breen might want war with the federation. Sharp hears the chime on his door ring and its the captain. Sharp exits and tells the captain in a low voice they bugged our quarters.

Knowing that her team in the main lab are quite capable of getting on without her for a short while Tiana made her way to the bridge. He main aim was to check that the modifications she had made to the main sensor grid had kicked in so that diboron could be picked up over a wider range.
The beep from the Captain's transporter tag was reassuring rather than annoying while it beeped like that the Captain was still alive and healthy. She had kept the volume down though she didn't want the entire bridge crew after her.
While she was standing at the science station waiting for the diagnostic and calibration run to finish on the sensors a message arrived:- A Federation transport traveling a couple of light years from the Julienne's last known position had reported wreckage. The message was a standard one sent out to all ships in the areas about a new hazard but a subroutine Tiana had added to the comms grid had forwarded it to her as possibly of use in their search.
The station beeped at her to tell her the sensors were operating as she wanted.
"Commander," she said to the FO "I have just recieved some information on some wreckage that might possibly be the Julienne. "
Tag: Commander Nack
"Okay." she said. "The sensor adjustments for diboron have gone through and are working."
Tag:
"If you need me then I shall be in the main lab." With that Tiana left the bridge and wondered what her team would make of the latest piece of infomation she had to give them.

Proceed with the level 2 scan, Commander Matthew.
Sitting back down, Nack placed his forehead in the palm of his hand. His elbow was propped up on the armrest, just inward of the inlaid controls. He clearly looked distressed.
"Mr. Matthew, who is acting as interim Chief Engineer?" He had selected one a few months prior, but couldn't remember. With all the goings-on, he hadn't had a chance to conduct formal interviews, nor put in a formal request to Starfleet for a suitable replacement.
The Operations Officer did a good job coordinating with Engineering. Things might run more smoothly, however, if everyone didn't have lend a hand to engineering constantly. Commander Matthew had plenty to do, and Engineering should not be his priority. Nack was thankful that he made it one, though.
And the science officer... the chief science officer was doing a great job. She was constantly on the ball, and was great at mobilizing her subordinates.
Lieutenant Galwyn approached Nack, explaining the wreckage analysis.
"Realign the sensors... Look for Diboron hull readings."
Tiana left, leaving Nack, Matthews, and a handful of bridge officers left on the shift. With the sensors realigned, all they could do is wait.
The console in the back of the bridge beeped Captain Cir'Kem's lifesign intermittently. It was an eary noise. Nack didn't realize how accustomed to the blip he had become... that is, until it suddenly ceased.

Russell was fast to get ready once he was in his temporary quarters, finding them to be quite good considering he was an officer from those that won the war against them. It was not long before Nika knocked on his door, “I am as ready as I’ll ever be” Russell hoped he did not do something the Breen would take as a threat. As they came to Commander Sharp’s quarters he heard as sharp came out him whisper something about bugs in his quarters. ‘Well I should have known the Breen would have done something like this, hostilities take years to die away’.
Their security escort showed them the ay to the bridge, the structure of the Breen Bridge was completely different to that of a federation bridge with but 2 exceptions, the first was that the command chair was in the centre of the room, and the second was that the commanding officer’s office was just off of the bridge. As they entered Russell could not help but ensure he was near to sharp encase he wanted to ‘thank’ the Breen ambassador for the little present in his room.
Kol was sitting in his command chair when he heard one of his bridge officers speak, “well have the other two rooms been de-bugged yet?” the officer moved to check ‘simpleton’ was all Kol could think of the officer. “No sir, the other rooms are still operational” Kol looked at the reports in front of him that he planned to barter with. “if any more of them go dead then inform me, otherwise it must be an emergency” most of the crew knew that to bother him with anything less than that while in his office was a request to be sent home in a box.
Entering his office he began to think ‘well that security officer took a very long time to find those bugs, the federation are getting sloppy without a war to hone their skill’ before Kol could properly sit down there was a beep from his door. “Enter” Kol watched as three federation officers entered his office, one he noted seemed quite intent on attaching himself to the commander and not the captain. “welcome captain, please take a seat while I ensure all the reports you might need are here” as the captain took her seat Kol looked over the reports to find a way to hide the fact that he had more warships in federation space, but could find none. “well, I am sure you wish to get what you want and then leave, but would your other officers prefer to have a tour of my ship while we get to business?” Kol looked to the others who did not have a seat ‘why have more than one when no-one wants to visit a Fleet Commander’. The younger officer seemed not to wish to take up on the offer but stay with his captain, the other he could not read.

“well now we shall begin, we have been scanning any and all ships leaving the area and the surrounding area since we entered federation space, while docked during the ambassador’s disappearance one ship left that had erected a shield and a scan blocker of some kind around a single chamber, this was unusual for federation officers so my officers continued to monitor it out of fun and passed the information to our sister ship who as waiting at the edge of out sensor range.” Kol knew that the captain was probably beginning to realise that there was another warship in federation space. “our sister ship continued to track them to a federation planet then back into open space, where it meet with two ships, who took the contents of the room before destroying the ship. They then shot off in two separate directions as if trying to confuse any follower.” Kol t this point picked up the tile with sensor information. “this tile contains our sensor logs about the first ship and the new ships and which one took the contents, we can not be sure that the content is the Ambassador but we could not pursue in your territory.” Kol place the tile back in front of him, “can I assume that you will neglect to inform your star fleet of our other ship in your space, you see in Breen culture a mark of a high ranking person is the number of ships, and who is sent to speak to them from other races” Kol awaited her response as he would have to make a choice he would not like otherwise.

“Of course they did,” Nika replied. “We're on their space, and we're a possible threat. But we don't have anything to hide, so I don't see why we shouldn't let the bugs stay.” Sharp seemed surprised by her assessment of the situation, and Nika wasn't going to pretend that the idea of being bugged didn't bother her, but she thought it best not to meddle with them. She didn't know the security officer that well, but there was a chance that he already had. In which case, well, the Breen probably wouldn't be surprised by this change of events.
Given that there wasn't a phaser trained on her the instant she left the quarters, with Russell and Sharp beside her, Nika was going to have to assume that the Breen knew, but weren't reacting too badly. The Breen offered to give her officers a tour of the ship, but Nika shook her head, answering for them. “It's very kind of you to offer, but I don't wish to impose any more than we already have,” she said as diplomatically as possible.
Having kept all of her officers together, Nika listened to Kol's presentation with interest. He was being very up front that there were multiple ships in Federation space. But he apparently didn't want her to pass that information on to her superiors. “I can't,” she started, in a rare stutter. But she couldn't lie to her superiors. Especially not about something like this. But, if the Ambassador had known about this, and chosen not to tell, and the Ambassador must have known... “I won't tell them now, I can guarantee that,” Nika said. “But I'm afraid I can't promise anything for after the Ambassador is found, it depends too much on the circumstances of his disappearance.” The Breen commander was eyeing her in a way Nika found unnerving.
She was going to have to give the data to the ship, to see if Galwyn could match the ship the Breen had followed with the Julienne or not. But, since nobody knew where the Breen ship had been right after they detached from the station, Nika didn't have to say where the scans came from just yet. She didn't like it, but she could live with the omission. “Does that seem reasonable to you?” she asked the Breen leader, trying to keep an eye on her own people to see what they thought of the idea.

Tiana was sifting through the sensor logs, they had managed to get vague shapes out of the over written section. If you squinted at the screen hard enough you could almost believe that three figures had walked across frame. It would take several more iterations of Wilson's salvage routine to produce anything useful if indeed they got anything useful out.
The PADD next to Tiana's elbow buzzed gently. It was linked to the science station and was set to alert her to any changes in the Captain's life signs or the proximity of two humans. It was the the proximity alert that had sounded indicating that either Russell or Commander Sharp or both had moved away from the Captain. That didn't mean anything bad had happened but Tiana couldn't help feeling worried. She stared at the PADD and then moved over to another console to check the data stream.
To her relief the proximity alert cut out shortly afterwards. Tiana headed back to where she had left Patience and Wilson poring over the sensor record. Then the other alert sounded. The one that meant the signal was missing....
Tiana swallowed hard and tried to think. She went back to the console she had just left and checked the settings on the sensors, they were still checking for the right frequency and changing at the right rate.... Tiana hit buttons frantically and diverted as much of the communications system as she could to searching for the signal. To her relief she found it. Weak and intermittent but still functioning She focused the comm array even tighter and regained a the signal at it's proper cycle rate.
=/\=Lieutenant Galwyn to Bridge. The signal strength of the Captain's transponder has dropped. I am keeping a lock on it at the moment but only by tying up nearly 70% of the Victory's comms array=/\=
Tag: someone on the bridge
=/\= I have some theories as to the cause of the drop but I would say it more likely due to shielding than a drop in power at source.=/\=
Tag:
=/\=At the moment I can just hold the signal. If the power drops further I don't know if I'll be able to keep a lock on it. I'd like to piggy-back the signal off a probe to give me a sensor boost. Do you think launching a probe is a good idea at the moment?=/\=

Nack breathed.
"Commander Matthew, recalibrate the power sensor on that readout. Lieutenant Galen tells me that the power is low, yet it is reading completely normal."
The signal for the Captain's life-sign was also accompanied by a red to green power indicator. It was showing green, as in, signal strength was good... which caused the Bridge crew to go every which way while Nack sat motionless assessing the situation.
"Thank the Nagus for you, Tiana" he said to himself. She had saved the high-strung Ferengi from a lot of anxiety.
As soon as the console was corrected, and the eary beeping of the Captain's lifesign could be heard, Nack walked to the turbolift. "Commander Matthew, you have the bridge. Keep me apprised of any situations." It had been a long time since he had gotten any rest, and even though there was an ongoing mission, his first in charge was more than capable of handling any immediate emergency. That is, any emergency that couldn't wait 2 minutes for Nack to run out of bed and get up to the bridge.
Before he got to his quarters, however, he thought of something.
=/\= All Senior Staff to the Captain's Ready Room =/\= He had already turned around while he made the call and was heading back to the lift. =/\= I have an idea I want to run by you. Quickly. =/\=
The doors opened to the bridge, just as he left it a few minutes prior. He entered the ready room, stood behind Cir'kem's desk, and waited for the others.
When everyone was assembled, he began. "We have received all the information we can sitting here, haven't we?" It was a rhetorical question. "I think we should search for the ambassador ourselves."
The others looked a little concerned.
"I know what you are all thinking - we need to watch the Captain closely... and we don't want the Breen to think we are up to something. But we can still be in proximity to the sensors we have implanted into the Breen as well as looking for clues."
Still, the others looked concerned.
"Well, do you have any other ideas? I think we are being a bit useless sitting here watching nothing happen."

Kol listened to what the captain had to say, he was not happy about it, but he could accept it. “Here is the information, but remember we have an agreement, if you break it, I will personally break your ship into dust”. With this Kol pointed the federation officers out of his office, turning to his consol he sent a coded message to the other ships watching the Victory.
THIS IS FLEET COMMANDER KOL, MONITOR ALL COMMUNICATIONS AND SCANNER ACITIVITY. I WANT TO KNOW THE MOMENT THEY TRY SOMETHING.
Looking out the window of his office he wondered if he was doing the right thing trusting a federation captain.
-- Russell was surprised with how easily the Breen had given them the information, he did not like the idea that there was another ship near by as the last he checked the victory had only picked up one. As the captain made her way back to her quarters he spotted Sharp disappearing down a different corridor. Arriving at the captain’s Quarters she allowed Russell in as she began to send the information to the ship. It was at this point that she noted Robert’s disappearance, before the captain asked Russell answered the question that she had on her lips “I believe Commander Sharp went back to his quarters to look for any new bugs” Russell knew this was a lie, but he had the feeling Robert knew what was at stake if he angered the Breen.

Russell wondered what Robert was up to, he did not like the idea that he was wondering around the Breen ship.
Kol’s office
Walking around his office he was disturbed by his second in command walking though the door, “Sir, we have a report coming in from home” Kol turned to look, both were out of their encounter suits for now as it was easier to work without them. “I will take it in here, please leave and ensure that the channel is secured” “yes sir” was all his second said before leaving. Activating the consol he saw the head of defence looking at him, “Ma’am, what can I do for you today” Kol took a seat while he listened, “we have heard of the so called abduction of the federation ambassador, has another been dispatched?” Kol wondered where this was going, “No, they have not sent anyone” the woman on the screen had a dark look on her face, “Well then I have new orders for you ...” Kol was listening in disgust as he was given new orders. “Understood” Kol closed the connection before wondering what to do. Activating the ships comm. system Kol spoke “Can the federation officers please report to my office immediately” Kol hoped they would come quickly there was so little time.
Warship Elik As the captain listened to the communication between the Fleet Commander and the Chief of Defence he became excited. “Comm. open a secure channel to the Tria” he looked at his communications officer who simply nodded “Tria, this is Captain Hila of the Elik, we have received word of the change of orders. We shall begin carrying out those orders, the Vi will return with you to Breen.” Signalling to the officer to cut the comm. he turned his attention to the federation ship.
Russell was worried by the sound of the ambassador’s voice over the comm. “Captain, i do not like this” he had a feeling that the captain felt the same but he thought he should mention it. As he and the captain made their way to Kol’s office Russell wondered if Robert would rejoin them or if he would still be up to whatever he was up to. As they entered Kol’s office he saw Kol in his encounter suit behind his desk. ”please do not take a seat as I believe we will not have much time. Moments ago I received new orders to return to Breen with your ship’s crew as prisoners so that we can determine if you are planning to start a war with us. I am unwilling to destroy the newly found peace between our two peoples so I will let you return to your ship and leave quickly. I cannot grantee how long it will be before the other ships hear of this order, and I can assure you they will not hesitate from shooting your ship into dust” Russell did not know what to say.

“You don't need to threaten me to make me keep my word,” Nika answered, letting her irritation at having her word be questioned show stronger than her more pressing concern at the notion that the Breen could and would destroy the Victory.
Not doing anything rash enough to start problems was still high on her list of concerns, but Nika felt that their visit with the Breen had been shockingly productive. She was talking to Davis, and lost track of Sharp at some point between the Breen office and her quarters. Davis said that Sharp had just went to his quarters, which was funny because Nika had thought his quarters were on the other side of hers. She didn't push the issue though, because she knew she might be wrong, and because she was trying to give Sharp as much trust as she could.
They'd barely been back in their quarters before being called to return to the Breen office. Nika didn't really mind—she hadn't agreed to come aboard to sit in Breen quarters—but it was unusual, and that worried her. And apparently it worried Davis as well. When she asked their Breen guard whether they shouldn't wait for Commander Sharp the guard just said that Sharp had already been notified.
Any worries or fears Nika had were relieved when she entered the office to see Sharp already there. Kol's words, however, rather took that feeling away. “Moments ago I received new orders to return to Breen with your ship’s crew as prisoners so that we can determine if you are planning to start a war with us. I am unwilling to destroy the newly found peace between our two peoples so I will let you return to your ship and leave quickly. I cannot grantee how long it will be before the other ships hear of this order, and I can assure you they will not hesitate from shooting your ship into dust.”
“Thank you very much,” Nika said, already heading toward the shuttlebay room. She believed Kol when the Breen captain said they didn't have much time. She also didn't have words to express her gratitude, so she wasn't going to waste much time trying. She just hoped Kol made it out of this alive.
It seemed that the Victory had started elsewhere, and the shuttle had to chase it for a little before catching up. It was only a few more moments after they were all back on the Victory before Nika, still in her dress uniform, quickly directed Navigation towards Assailant at maximum warp. She then called everyone into the staff room.
By 0835 everyone was in her ready room, and Nika had finished explaining some of what had happened. Or, at least, some of what she'd understood to happen. Of course, now they had to avoid the Breen ships, or figure out some way to not be blown to smithereens. Nika wasn't about to give up their mission, but... “The faster we can find out where the ambassador went the faster we can solve this problem,” Nika said. “Galwyn, I understand you had a lead on where the ship had gone.” At least, Nika guessed so from the fact that the Victory had been moving. “Excellent, give the directions to helm.” The Victory might not be a match for two Breen ships, but it could certainly catch up with a transport ship. And it would do so, if only to bring this whole mess to an end.
